Hotel is interesting and in incredible shape with consistent themes We were on the eighth floor with wide views and with exception of occasional road noise it was very quiet The grounds are beautiful and something interesting is always waiting to be discovered
The location made it easy to wonder around town on foot Breakfast was nice Room service was available (though Larks was very underwhelming) The staff are thoroughly impressive I could spend a great deal of time here
Sulekha Alath
Wonderful location, interesting history, great service, gracious and helpful staff I love the decor, especially the lobby, full of natural light, the cozy fire place a great place to hang out of a crisp evening and several other tastefully decorated nooks for reading or a good conversation with a friendly doggie at your feet This hotel is dog friendly
Complementary breakfast is well balanced, substantial and a very convenient plus; you can enjoy it sitting in the gallery mezzanine level overlooking the lobby The Queen Petite room is just enough for 1 person The bathroom could use a towel rail/ ring near the washbasin and shower, there are no options to hang towels where you need them in these areas There are no easily accessible power outlets in the room There is a coffee maker but to use it I had to scout for an outlet and heave the dresser aside to access the only outlet I could find – behind it! Same issue for charging my phone I highly recommend this hotel

If you’re into history and architecture or just good old stories you have to go visit this beautiful well kept hotel! We just grab a cup of coffee from the hotel restaurant on the ground floor and hung out in the lobby for a bit Was trying to be discreet didnt want to disturb the guests there Really in love with those extended ceiling fans… the spring blossom center piece was a very timely nice touch! There are many many historic buildings in the United States and it is good to know some are very well protected and taken care of! 🥳🥳👍👍

If you are traveling through Ashland, make sure you stop and stay at the Chanticleer! The Inn is absolutely delightful; it is warmly decorated, quiet and clean, and dog friendly! Our room had a private entrance to the back yard so we could take the dog out without disturbing anyone elseWith a private bath (which is important to me), a little fireplace in our room, and a mini fridge for our leftovers from the wonderful dinner in town, our room was perfect!Breakfast was delightful, and the fresh baked goodies were a hit with us! You can feel the love Angela puts into all she doesAngela is welcoming and knowledgeable about all we should see in her town
She even found time in her busy day to visit with usDefinitely recommend!
Christine King
If you are fortunate enough to discover there is room in the Inn, do yourself a favor and reserve it pronto You will not be disappointed This place is an artistic mecca designed with you comfort, ease, enjoyment, and visual pleasure in mind
The breakfasts are even a work of art and the artist, Angela truly is an angel The best B&B we have ever had the privilege to enjoy! We plan to return as soon as we can 5 stars is not enough–I give it a 10

We’ve been staying at The Chanticleer for many years during our annual OSF theatre immersions It is a lovely historic Arts & Crafts home within walking distance of the theaters and restaurants In the two years’ Covid-related OSF hiatus, the place changed hands, so we were curious to see how it had fared once the theater opened back up for business
We were thrilled to find that it continues to be a wonderful sanctuary under innkeeper Angela’s artistic and capable hands The house itself has been updated with vibrant paint colors and decor, fun artistic touches, an expanded patio/pond area, a meditation labyrinth and yoga platform There are so many quiet, restful places to just read and relax, or hang out for a bit of wine and chat with friends after an evening play (hello porch swing!) Our room and bed were so comfortable, we slept very well indeedAngela’s gourmet breakfasts are outstanding and beautifully presented, offering healthy fare and fresh produce, herbs, interesting flavors (The Mexican brown rice pudding with mango coconut cream & peppered jelly, and the walnut bread were my personal favorites) There are always afternoon treats available, and refreshing fruit-infused water Angela herself is the “hostess with the most-est,” making sure everyone was comfortable with a smile and positive energy, even during these challenging times when everyone is short-staffed (Really, she’s the kind of person you wish was your next-door neighbor!)We are looking forward to more visits in times to come

Have had good experiences in the past for special occasion visits and food was really good Haven’t been in a few years so decided to go for Easter Brunch at $3999 per person
Walked in and staff looked stressed and confused We were seated at a dirty table and it took awhile to get a server to notice us She was pleasant and we made our way to the buffet What a disaster Undercooked bacon, the quiche was liquid, and they ran out of prime rib so they said to come back I got a pancake but there was no syrup or butter to be found By this time we had plates of food but I wasn’t impressed Returned to our table to discover everything was cold In the meantime my husband made his was to the prime rib and returned with a piece that looked like it had never been in the oven We looked at each other and said ” I don’t feel like getting a case of food poisoning is on our list of things to do today”, so we picked up our things and left You are a restaurant and you serve food like that? We were told by friends that there was new ownership and they had a bad experience recently We should have heeded their warning Sadly we won’t be returning
Igor Bronshteyn
What a charming hotelGreat service, big clean rooms, fireplace, fridge and a jetted tub in the room We also had a balcony overlooking outside dining area
Good food in their restaurant also, fairly priced with great serviceOhand they have a fully stocked game room and a gym, too!A bit of a drive to downtown Ashland (11 miles) but it all depends why you are here anywaysWe’ll be back!
Elyse Douglas
I wanted to love this place but the air conditioner was so obnoxiously loud that we could not sleep well The mattress was too soft for a tummy sleeper The freeway was much too close for my taste
Something we should have researched better, so it’s on us The room was clean The restaurant food was pretty good but a bit pricey So we left a day early

Firm or soft Our room had a nice table and chairs for our in room meals The continental breakfast was very good and had a variety of hot and cold food options They offered small paper bags for us to pack our meal and take it back to our room The in house restaurant had food and the flavors were spot on

One star based on price and expectation It’s just an old house that looks good in pictures but worn out in person Probably way overpriced to keep out the riff raff and give an air of exclusivity
I didn’t see any shared areas that weren’t part of their restaurant or easily accessible that they had pictured on their website The front desk service, while polite, gave me a key and pointed up the stairsRented the “double garden room”: I don’t know what is double about it as it was much smaller than pictures suggested; the “garden” was the bar/restaurant patio with the room’s windows making it feel like a fishbowl for everyone to look in, as well as the street traffic It took a while to figure out how to pull down the blinds as they were a mix of cords and types, very tedious There was a tiny couch, tiny TV, and a weird sack of a mattress on a metal box There was a note to please not use the big pillows (“to keep them nice for other guests”, really?) and what was left was two small flat basic cheap pillows No phone charging ports or outlets available near the bed area I didn’t even sit on the tiny couch as the cushions were sloped down so much it looked like you would slide off I was tired and went to bed only to hear all the noise from rooms around me Got to sleep but then was awoken later by the bar closing and moving around tables and chairs in the patio belowI didn’t even stay for the breakfast as I was tired of being disappointed by this place Just over-priced to give an air of exclusivity
Naomi S
Just spent 3 nights here as the midpoint in Thanksgiving travel This place is a gem of an oasis with unique beautiful rooms, all different, and the welcoming amenities of flowers and treats are an elegant touch Beds are comfy with lovely grapefruit soaps and lotions
Alchemy on the grounds offers wonderful menu items, wines and specialty cocktails Breakfasts served are delightful as well
Larry Marks
Quiet, well appointed, clean, comfortable Most importantly, room was within stumbling distance of Alchemy restaurant Staff was friendly, most helpful and accommodating
Only 1 complaint Hot water supply is apparently quite distant from the out buildings Took a long time running water to get hot water for bath or shower

We were excited to see a play and booked a stay with this place because they promised discount tickets We then tried to get the discount info from them They never answered the phone and did not return calls
Then we tried to connect for several days to check on the details of our reservation They never answered or returned our call With communication this poor, we can only imagine the service during a stay We cancelled
Wendy Young-Ramsey
Amazing place! The hosts/Inn Keepers were incredible, so friendly and kind Very nice property and rooms Lovely breakfast in the morning as well
The hosts are wonderful conversationalist They had incredible recommendations for dinner and even made us a reservation at a great place in town I would have stayed longer to talk for the rest of the morning if I did not need to drive back home and return the rental car! I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast, don’t miss out on an opportunity to meet wonderful Inn Keepers and enjoy an incredible property
Shelby Setter
What an absolutely marvelous and charming B&B! Bill and Corbet truly make you feel right at home
from the welcoming hospitality and friendly conversation, to the delightfully appointed and comfortable rooms, to the incredibly delicious, fresh breakfast and the lush gardens you will never want to leave!! This is the perfect getaway for anyone who is a bit anxious about leaving their home during these COVID times cleaning and sterilization are top notch (we couldn’t find a single speck of dust) and they are following the rules to a tee, each of the 5 rooms have their own private outside entry so there is no need to contact another guest, and there is a very large and spacious garden where you can easily distance with a glass of wine and a good book (their library is superb!) you truthfully couldn’t ask for more We cannot wait to come back and stay again Take my advice and look no further than the Arden Forest Inn you will be grateful you made the reservation!

This place was excellent! It was very clean and well maintained The only thing I would change is the carpet in the rooms (rip it out and put laminate down) and only because it’s much cleanerStaff is friendly and check in was quick and easy
Beds were comfy and everything worked (cooler, fridge, shower, TV/remote) Pool looked great, though it’s fire season and we didn’t use it due to ash and smoke, and the on-site gym was clean and had good equipment Parking was easy and safe We’ll definitely stay again
PeterSu Copley
I love this Best Western! It is perfectly located close to the highway without the highway sounds The rooms are clean and don’t smell like chemicals Plenty of space in the rooms and bathrooms and there is a large swimming pool outside with a12 person hot tub
The free breakfast is open from 6:30-9:30 and has an abundance of choices The desk help were very friendly and accommodating I will definitely be staying here again
Jessica Merczak
Pet-friendly with shockingly nice grounds and plenty of outdoor seating Rooms have basic necessities despite being small Bathroom design is one I personally really dislike, where there is no sink with the toilet, and instead has a separate sink
Beds were squeaky, but not uncomfortable in a way that won’t let you sleep Rooms don’t have much in the way of sound proofing, but thankfully the neighbors weren’t loudPros: decent location, able to bring your dog, nice grounds, friendly staff, clean rooms, comes with breakfastCons: priced like a hotel A nice motel, but still a motel

Nice room overlooking park (could Hear the stream, couldn’t See it & only after the event next door was over, around 2 am) )with balcony, right Next to the restaurant next door which got noisy with some kind of special event TV had bad reception & selection If we came there again, we’d make sure we had a room further from the restaurant! A great place within walking distance of all the downtown action
Kudos to Molly at the front desk, who seems unflappable & sincerely sweet and caring! 🤗👍

The reason I am giving Plaza Inn 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the breakfast The room was great The staff was helpful and professional
Location is great as it’s just a 5 minute walk to the plays The breakfast however is shabby at best You could easily purchase the same breakfast at a gas station Small packaged pastries, peeled hard boiled eggs that were packaged in Minnesota, tasteless bagels Really, if you’re not going to provide proper food, then don’t advertise that you provide breakfast It’s insulting The second morning of our stay we skipped the hotel breakfast and ate at a nearby cafe I don’t think we would stay here again
Jessica Pedigo
Beware, this hotel will charge you more than what they are advertising and will not respond to calls or emails to resolve the issue I stayed here January 1-3rd, the advertised price was $149 per night I was charged $249 per night, but didn’t realize the mistake until I was back home
I have called numerous times and left messages, I have emailed the manager with no response I have reported this business to the Better Business Bureau and am still waiting for a resolutionAs far as the room – the decor is ok We found a dirty towel behind the door and a raisin in one of the chairs, which tells me they are not as thorough as they should be with their cleaning The staff was friendly and helpfulIf this company returns my call and refunds what they overcharged me, I will update my review Until then, buyer beware

What a jewel!! The attention to detail is a reflection of the attentive staff From delicious locally roasted coffees and mid century furnishings everything was well thought out for an extremely cozy stay The Gardens were beautiful and our dog felt like royalty, with her own bed and treats on her pillow
We have been traveling for three week and the Palms was the first hotel I can truly say I would recommend and enjoyed We changed our reservation and stayed an extra night The room was clean and not overly perfumedI highly recommend staying at the Palms!

Easy sweet place! Spotless with the nicest touches of great soap, moisturizer The bed and pillows perfect for a great night’s sleep The Palm is small with individual units but they also offer a house for a bigger group or just more space

I really loved my brief stay at the McCall House So many personal touches and accommodations for late check in It was more of an experience than just a hotel /bnb stay
It felt nostalgic as it reminded me of the Victorian style homes back east I stay in when visiting relatives The antique furniture and fine details were really special Breakfast was exceptional, location and parking can’t be beatOnly note I would make is that it is an old house, so the walls are not sound proof You can hear guests walking down the hallway or up the stairs, and potentially, from inside their rooms on an adjacent wall I didn’t hear or watch TV but I’m sure if I had, It would have been heard by the other guests So if you’re a young couple honeymooning, privacy may be something to keep in mindLooking forward to visiting Ashland and staying here again!
Hiwot W
We had no idea such a beautiful place existed in Ashland We were passing through and needed to rest for one night, so we called this place with good reviews and made a reservation The staff is extremely friendly
We were traveling with children and wanted two queen beds, but the receptionist recommended the carriage house, which had two king beds and two rooms offered us with the same price Lauxiurious and well-kept We were treated like royalty, with delicious breakfast and coffee I don’t think I’ll stay anywhere else if I continue to travel along that route

We always love staying at the McCall House, such a wonderful space and excellent service We were sad to see some of the updates made to the rooms and common spaces Feels as though it lost some of the historical charm and elegance, especially in the President Hayes room which was one of our favorites
Loved the Lydia McCall room Still a great place to stay in Ashland
