The room was clean The front staff was helpful and pleasant The women in the breakfast area were also very nice and attentive

Plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area quick and sit Downs Like most hotels now there is no maid service unless asking for something When doing a refresh, Please get rid of bathtubs and put in showers No one wants to use a bathtub at a hotel

Jessica Jones

All the staff went out of their way to make it a very enjoyable stay! They are all very helpful and polite Very clean rooms, wonderful breakfast and very prompt service, with great attitudes This will be where we stay in the area in the future! One of the best hotel staff I have ever experienced

1st time visitor – I’m a regular Hilton client and was in town on businessQuick check-in, the front desk clerk (Colleen?) was especially friendly and helpful She recommended several local places to eat and was spot-on on each one, very good choices!Clean room, fair price, breakfast

6 month stayWe were very pleased overall Lisa at the front desk is an absolute gem! All the staff including maintenance, housekeeping, and front desk were extremely friendly and accommodating!Good selection of individually wrapped breakfast items to choose from

On site Basketball court, fire pit, grills, indoor pool, laundry facility and gym The rooms are dated and they only offer queen beds, all rooms have kitchens Plenty of parking, safe area!

Laura Kihlken

I travel a LOT for work, so I know a thing or two about hotel staff The staff here is the best I’ve ever met We stayed here for a baseball tournament

Lisa at the front desk worked literal miracles for us upon checking in, getting us a room at 8:30 in the morning on the first day of our stay and working to get our stay extended Riley was a champ the rest of the week, allowing our team to take over the lobby to setup a buffet and watch a movie on the lobby TV They bent over backwards to make our stay PERFECT The hotel staff were honorary members of our baseball team this week, asking for status updates after each game and cheering us on when we kept winning They were the best! Thanks so much!

Weird maintenance staff and poor customer service at front desk Second time staying here First time, my room had no blinds, asked for help staff did nothing

So I slept with the parking lot lights streaming into my room all night Second time, tall older african american man maintenance staff sees me walking to elevator with my girlfriend, proceeds to insult me then pushes me and tries to block my entrance into the elevator Then when I check him, he tries to play it off as a joke I then let front desk know I do not appreciate this, younger individual with dyed hair tells me to go away, because they have a customer to deal with As if I am not a customer I then ask the name of the maintenance worker, and the front desk staff tells me to go ask him myself So I do He insults me again by giving some fake name Ultimately, do not stay here if you want a operable room and decent customer service

This was my first time staying at a Homewood Suites and it will not be my last This was a great hotel and experience I’ll return for a future stay

The room was a nice size, it was clean, the kitchen area was stocked and the appliances were nice The bed was comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was good The ambiance of the hotel was great

Madhu

If on business in Whiting then this is definitely a place to checkout With a full kitchen (which is also equipped with pots and pans – have to clarify this since some Hilton full kitchen properties don’t have any pots/pans and stoves are available on request) you have the freedom to cook or make real tea Spacious rooms and enough parking space

The complementary breakfast is a good way to get a quick bite before your work/vacation day Shall visit it again if I’m back in town

mauricio alves

I travel for work and stay at least 18 nights per month in hotels I prefer Hilton properties After checking in today 05/14 to this hotel I went to take a shower and there were no hot water! I called the front desk and was told that the had a water heater fail the day before and many units had no hot water

How dare you expecting that someone will go to a hotel with no hot water?Management offered me a room to shower in why was I not checked in to that unit to start with? This is completed unacceptable!

This hotel is a bit of an oasis in an otherwise sketchy area The hotel is newer and clean The pool and gym are both nice for this level of hotel

They were definitely under-staffed during two of our recent visits, but still provided acceptable service A towel shortage was our only issue The warm breakfast options were pretty good Some advice: do not touch the dangling light fixture in the lobby area, they will get upset with you They have a small bar in the lobby, which is nice for those who enjoy that type of thing

Cathy Williams

I stayed one night The property was nice After returning home I received a call from the hotel wanting to charge me $150 for a single pillow case that a small amount of hair dye bled onto

After being told there was video footage of the entire bed full a linen being damaged (which was a BLATANT LIE) I asked could I come and view it NO RESPONSE After telling the person I don’t have $150 for a pillow case, and again asking if I could view the video, I was told to have a good day I really and truly believe this was nothing but racism at its finest I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN, NOR WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE STAY THERE!

Kevin N

We used Springhill in Munster for a block of rooms for our event on July 9th We had a few rooms that we paid for for friends and family Rebekah Thompson made going throught the CC authorization process a breeze and took care of all of our needs and concerns! We had a few changes throughout the process and they were handled very professionally! I did not stay in any rooms, but all of our friends and family loved the hotel

I would 100% recommend this hotel if you are need blocks of rooms for any event you are planning You will not be disappointed!

Me and my family stayed here for 2 nightsOnly complaint i have is that we had to clean the room along with house keeping when we arrived due to numerous animal and human hair all over the bedroom and bathroom The room was discounted and we enjoyed our stay

Sade that works in house keeping was the best ever and I’m glad to have had her there to help with the cleaning She was very kind and caring while working hard to take care of that issue

I enjoy staying at this hotel when I come to town My room is always clean And the staff is friendly

I am not a fan of continental breakfast and the very first time that we stayed there it was very few options But as I stated I am not a continental breakfast kind of lady It’s mostly very quiet and it is conveniently located close enough to Illinois and a nice part of Indiana

Mark Jones

Myself and two other co-workers booked three rooms at this property for a business trip The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating The property has nice curb appeal, however, the furnishings, especially in the breakfast area are in desperate need of updating

The furniture is very well worn The cleanliness of the breakfast area wasn’t very good The tables were dirty at 3:00 PM and there was evidence of dirt on the carpets and under tables, etc We had one of the worst breakfast’s at a Hampton Inn, even worse than the covid bagged breakfast that were given out during the pandemic My room was clean and I had all of the amenities The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was good My co-workers room had a very smoky odor and he asked to be moved Management needs to spend some money updating the common areas and step up their breakfast game

Savvy Siren

Unimpressed Level of cleanliness was sketch Toilet was visibly dirty, so I had to give it a thorough cleaning myself using disposable gloves, Lysol and disinfectant wipes

Yuck Stains on entrances of doorways My fitted sheet was put on inside out and I saw a long hair in my bed There was also a hole in the ceiling over the sink I also saw a roach in my room Attention to detail was sorely lacking and this was an uncomfortable experience to say the least I had higher hopes, but this wasn’t it Would not stay again

Any hotel can pay its way to good food, clean rooms, or a well decorated interior What few have is heartHeart is when you wake up jet lagged for an early morning flight, come downstairs to a cab running late, and are greeted by the charismatic lobby ambassador

Within five minutes you’ve forgotten about your jet lag and are inordinately excited about green teaAnd it only takes one individual named Sam to give an entire hotel heart

Stacy Pollard

Elegant, hip, classic and cozy Sophy Hyde Park is such a gem! Perfectly located in Hyde Park and an easy car ride to downtown Chicago and its attractions Rooms are large and well appointed, restaurant and bar on property is excellent, and the hotel staff is friendly, kind and helpful, and truly add to the joy of your stay

We have stayed at the Sophy multiple times and absolutely love it here

Isobel Ojalvo

Stayed here a few nights for a workshop The hotel is modern, comfortable beds, very clean Parking is expensive but there is ample free street parking a block from the hotel in either direction

The morning coffee in the lobby is good but be warned that they take it away at 9am What makes the hotel stand out is how pleasant the staff are! I went downstairs at 8:30am to get 3 cups of coffee + milk for my partner and me I was balancing everything in 2 hands and Sam in the lobby looked at me and said ‘wait right there’ and came back a minute later with a Jack Daniels mixed drink carrier 😂 Worked well!!

Wonderful service! Super friendly and helpful staff! Our room was clean and although the AC didn’t seem to work the greatest, we had a comfortable stay (I can’t speak for the other 3 rooms that my family were in) But the outdoor patio are that we occupied in the evening was very comfortable and cleanHotel staff was very accommodating to our rather loud family and I appreciate their kindness and understanding during our very difficult time

Erica Jones

Front desk clerk was very professional, rooms need to be updated to match the prices they are charging a night I have stayed at 2 other hotels in the area and both have better updates for the same price and offer a free continental breakfast The pool looked like particles were floating inside and the hallways were noisy at times

But the outer appearance looks great

Willeta Smith

I reserved the jacuzzi room the day before my stay and they decided to call me after check-in at 4pm Tammy told me that I couldn’t get that room because the jacuzzi wasn’t working and they couldn’t fix it They put me in a standard 2 queens room instead of the king bed

I asked to speak with the manager , which was Sharon the assistant manager She told me the same thing and that the pool wasn’t working either I found out that they put someone else in my jacuzzi room the same day and people were using the pool , too When I showed Sharon the pictures of the room and the pool being used, she said it must have gotten fixed after she left at 6pm I spoke with her about the room around 5 ish I really believed that it was discrimination She started getting irate and saying that it wasn’t I contacted Guest Services and they told me that Matthew would call me back, but he never did

Corey Harris, MBA

The customer service and professionalism is superb I met the manager in the morning, and I must say she was amazing Despite the piece of hair in the shower which is pretty common, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable

Third floor was also quiet I appreciate the cameras on the floor for added security Minimum breakfast but healthy options was much appreciated

Tinika Hubbard

All I want to say, that although my room was not the best in regards to it being cleaned properly before my arrival and it stated that it was: Summer and Laderrick are two amazing people who are employed their Their hospitality from beginning to end was immensely impeccable They did all they could within their power to make my stay worth while and because of them two, I will be coming back and highly recommend this hotel

Never let a bad seed spoil the entire apple

Fraternal Hero

Grabbed a last-minute room via Priceline the night before The only thing I have to say is that there was too much walking to my liking to where the parking is and how to find your room It is hard for me to walk and as there was no parking in the front and I parked in the back, I was lost immediately going into the back door

Once I found the elevator that worked, on the other side of the hotel then I still had to go to the third floor Then once getting to the floor I needed, I found my room was actually closer to the broken elevator I checked in at 11pm checkout was at 11am I requested a later checkout and was told they could only go to 11:30am I was worn out by the time I got to my room, my back was killing me, and I was exhausted I wanted to sleep in, but I knew with all the walking I would have to do in order to check out, I ended up ignoring that extra 30 minutes and just checked out at 11am I hope they get the other elevator fixed for those who have a harder time walking around Most hotels when you request a late check out give you an hour or two, I was surprised they limited it to an extra 30 minutes I had just driven for 8 hours and wanted to rest up before I needed to drive the rest of the trip the day after (another 5 hours) So was really hoping to sleep in Otherwise, room was clean – bug free and had no issues otherwise Good price for the stay as well!

We booked this hotel because it is dog friendly, and we have 2 I didn’t feel the friendliness, we were tolerated, not more And of course we had to pay a hefty cleaning fee

Our room was cleaned just once in our 8 nights stay, although we did tell them they can clean whenever, and just let us know so we’ll take the dogs outBreakfast was lame, the same basic ingredients everyday, and even them sometimes missingThe location though is excellent, and the air-conditioning was very affective It’s a bit over priced, but if spacious, refurbished rooms and location are what your looking for, It’s a very good option

Taylor Howard

I stayed here for a week for work and when I checked in they told me they would clean the room every third day However, they didn’t the whole time I was there, which is fine, but doesn’t seem worth the money and is one of the major reasons to stay at a hotel over Airbnb Otherwise, the breakfast was nice and offered great options but the coffee could have been better

I also liked the late checkout

Allen Joiner, Jr

Great service, great hotel The free breakfast bar was typical: scrambled eggs (not fresh made), 2 sides (ham slices, potato cake), Pre-made waffles, cereal, yogurt, berry compote, some bread options, oj and apple juice Clean rooms, great shower, comfortable beds

Love the neighborhood, lots of great food options in walking distance Great ice cream shop just across the streetWalk to the best science museum I’ve ever been to, absolutely massive, just the U-boat exhibit is worth the price of admission, and kids loved the rest 15 minute drive to downtownParking can be difficult, but not horrible Here are some tips For unloading, drive around the hotel and pull up the side street that wraps around the hotel There a surface parking lot across the corner from the hotel, $36 for 24 hours Also a deck behind the McDonald’s, same price But for overnight or Sunday parking, here’s the best option Find a street spot, 250 per hour, free after 8pm or 10 pm depending on the spot Paid again at 8am Sundays are free, so you can park Saturday night until Monday morning for free

Was surprised by the lower prices than some other hotels nearby when I compared online I thought maybe it was an aging hotel but was glad to see that it is a great newer hotel Clean room, air conditioner / heater unit has the “fan only” mode which I like for white noise

Quiet room Away from the interstate so no road noise Great employees at the front desk and friendly breakfast attendant

C Donald

The bed 🛌 is so good that I need to purchase one for myself Woke up not knowing where I was and I don’t drink at all Deep sleep 💤 Woke refreshed All of the staff was friendly and helpful

The breakfast was great I could live there Free cable My children were definitely with not leaving and just moving in Lol Clean Clean Clean 👌 Fantastic place to stay

Laura Guzman

Room is okay, cheap with the towels, asked for late check out since arrived late and they stated no enough housekeeping, kind of expected due to Easter but the rest was blah No Covid restrictions, I am triple vaccinated so not terribly concerned, but sigh posted says must wear mast if not vaccinated Ask me if they asked to verify vac status? Nope

On pool door stating unsafe to swim by Lake County Department of Health! No swimming and my kids were looking forward to it Either they are not Laing care of pool or they threw it up so they would not have to be bothered with it Reviews stated awesome breakfast which is why I picked this place First of all, pancake machine says out of order which I know is a lie, they just don’t feel like making them No bacon, reviews said they had, but only sausage, scrambled eggs and biscuits and gross gravy Whoever is making the coffee doesn’t know how, it is the color and consistency of tea No coffee bean at all! Won’t stay here again! I way over paid for this

Very poor experience I could barely work the shower because the handle kept falling off When we first got to the room the floor was wet by the tv

Not sure where the leak was coming from but the floor leak got even bigger and had to notify the desk multiple times And being the room was wet we’re getting bugs that attract water It took the front desk a day to come and we killed at least 8 bugs I would not recrecommend here

Alana Bridges

BED BUGS DIRTY ROOMS!!!!The first room they gave me was poorly cleaned it had some kind of big seeds all over it and smelled like old moldy mop water They moved me to another room which I noticed immediately that the dishwasher was broken They sent maintenance who didn’t properly fix it

Later i woke up to bites on my face and arm at which point I saw the bed bugs visibly crawling on the pillows and sheets I called the front desk which later noticed that the lock to the door wasn’t even properly working The night staff moved me to the hotel behind it and everything was supposed to get sorted out upon management arrival the next day I spoke to management she basically treated me as if it didn’t matter with no real resolution to the situation They were rude and smug about the entire situation Only offered me another room after two rooms was already disgusting As I stood there talking to management a front desk associate had to come from behind the desk to kill a huge bug crawling on the floor Mind you I was booked for like 9 days for work As a result No resolution I was unable to get the regional manager’s contact information and have to travel about 100 miles for training RUN RUN RUN!!

This charming hotel is definitely a gem located in the heart of downtown Homewood From the stylish decor to the swanky restaurant, I truly enjoyed my local getaway The only changes I would suggest would be upgrading the tvs to Smart Tvs for movie streaming, improving the morning breakfast selection and having a skeleton crew so that in room dining can occur at least until 11pm on weekends

Eric Smith

It’s pricey but most boutique style hotels are especially around holidays or weekends Many different rules due to pandemic I’m guessing Like we couldn’t have a drink in the bar unless we had reservations when the bar and most of the restaurant were empty

No one seemed to know if we could order room service Luckily we had a family party and went early We noticed glass broken in a picture frame immediately entering the suite and the attendant on duty removed it in minutes We were in an accessible room which includes lots of grab bars and side floor area, there’s also braille on the door The tub however is a regular high side so someone can’t roll in or walk-in You could probably bring a slide seat though They include a dark wash cloth for makeup removal A nice coffee station with fridge, in room safe, robes, iron, dryer, etc Nice one time for mom to enjoy the holiday It’s right across from the Metra station and has ample free parking Many great restaurants in the area if you want something different like Red Bird

My family just stayed here this weekend I was so impressed by the staff They went above and beyond to make our stay great

The main weekend breakfast attendant was amazing She gifted my kids with hackey sacks and one morning even brought out a hot breakfast item for our family that was not being served but that she had overheard our kids asking for I’ve never had that kind of service at a continental breakfast The facilities were nice, very clean, and our King bed room was spacious The only downside was the pool water/pool room was quite chilly and pool could use a cleaning Otherwise wonderful hotel!

The assistant manager greeted me when I checked in, she was welcoming, smiling and patient while we worked out a corporate billing issue As I passed down the hallway to the elevators the manager was in her office and called out a hello If the staff is happy to be at work then as a guest I know I will be happy staying there

Clean, large rooms, great breakfast

Our family stayed here for one night on the way to Chicago It was very easy to see from I 94 and was easy to get to and park Free breakfast was included which helps so much with young kids

The hotel was clean and well maintained Staff were very attentive, even calling to ensure we were happy with the room after we checked in If you are a Starbucks fan there is one on the access drive on your way to the hotel so enjoy! Hotel is very close to many shops and restaurants

The staff is wonderful at this location They were attentive and polite The convenience area has snacks and treats, showcasing a good selection

The complimentary breakfast was delicious and hot, with a great variety to choose from There is a workout room on site, so that you don’t have to miss your daily workout Be sure to bring a pair of wired headphones to use on the machines There is a trail that you can walk on with outdoor seating and the view is lovely The only downside is that they had way too much chlorine in the pool It lightened our swimsuits unevenly, and changed the color Overall the price is a good value

I stay here so often I refer to it as my second home I work in the area a couple times a month, so I stay here overnight The staff is fabulous

The rooms are clean and comfortable They are dealing with the same shortages everyone is dealing with, and some of their brands are changing, but they’re still keeping things going well The breakfast is amazing They have the best bacon I’ve had at a hotel buffet anywhere, and the biscuits and sausage gravy are really GOOD Also, the cranberry juice mix is perfect I stay at a lot of hotels, and I’m always happy to come back hereAlso, if you’re on the odd numbered side of the hotel, you get a view of a lake and park, and it’s easy to forget how close you are to the Windy CityIf you go to Harmony Brewery (right next to the hotel) and show them your room key, you’ll get 15% off your meal, too

You can tell that they recently renovated this hotel The room we stayed in they need to cut down the door as you were not able to close the bathroom door Sort of inconvenient if you’re traveling with other people

Also the coffee maker did not work but they did replace that quickly The room was at 84 degrees and even when we turned off the heat and turned on the air conditioner it still was way too hot It was like a sauna You definitely can’t complain about it being too cold :)Having said all of that, if they correct these few problems then it’s a pretty nice place to stay The breakfast was decent and the hotel staff was very very nice Great customer service
