Established in the 18th century, Boonsboro is a tiny town in the Northwest corner of Maryland Upon arrival, you’re a minute from a busy Main Street that is so small and quaint, you’d miss it if you blinkedThe rooms are EXQUISITE, upscale luxury, intimate and magical all at once

Fresh flowers grace every room of the Inn Giant poster beds, deep, gorgeous copper tubs, the most beautiful tile work I’ve ever seen, a bathroom literally fit for a Queen (Bidets in every bathroom, people!) The rooms have custom scents and are designed for the time period their characters took place in Celtic music plays quietly in the background giving the elegant but somehow still homie dining room an ethereal feel Complimentary baked goodies fill baskets on the server, equipped with coffee and loose tea mixesBreakfast is served a course at a time by a Chef who sings while she cooks and bakes in the open, inviting kitchen (right out of Nora’s books, I swear) There are fireplaces in each room, whisky decanters waiting to be sipped, complimentary wine and charcuterie each evening, covered porches, a gorgeous courtyard and did I mention the LIBRARY?! The Innkeeper and staff treated us like family and we had free range to explore and experience nearly the entire houseThe three story home has had many “lives” as it stood waiting while war waged through the area in centuries past It feels alive with secrets and charm and of course has a lingering spirit to keep watch and appear at her whim, leaving the distinct scent of honeysuckle in her wakeNora’s Inn Boonsboro trilogy details much of the actual work and features a lot of the thought and methodology involved in the construction, furnishing and decorating of the Inn I read them years ago, but having all those intimate details in the back of your mind as you experience this place for yourself is absolutely thrilling If you’re a Nora fan, who has read as many of her novels as I have, you see her mark in every little detailMy weekend surprise was made even more special when the books, (which are inspired not only by the real life Inn, but Nora’s family-owned pizzeria, bookstore, gift shop and gym) SIGNED BY NORA, were delivered by the Innkeeper soon after we arrivedOur room, “Jane & Rochester” from Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre,” boasted a hand carved mahogany four poster bed, a beautiful brick fireplace adorned with the most romantic period painting, Nora’s own Grandmother’s handmade doilies framed on the wall, the coziest upholstered chaise, and the most amazing bathroom I have ever seen (Heated floors and towel rack, anyone?) In addition to the signed trilogy, my gifts included a full sized set of all the handmade soaps, lotions etc, handcrafted by a local artist, and customized with the scent of our room Another gift bag included locally made wine to take home, with a pair of Inn Boonsboro stemmed glasses and 3:00 massage for the next dayWe perused through Turn The Page, bought keepsakes at the Gift shop/art gallery, posed with cardboard Nora, read for long hours wrapped in cashmere throws and floor length bathrobes, drank beer at the pub next door (they had gluten free stout!), sipped wine by the fire, soaked in the most wonderful tub I’ve ever seen, and played a mean game of scrabble in the pub-style lounge ‘til midnight We dined on delectable authentic German fare at the nearby Bavarian Inn and cuddled close to watch the black and white classic Jane Eyre as we fell asleep It was a getaway I will NEVER forget! I feel so very loved and pampered The visit exceeded my wildest dreams! The only thing that could have made it more memorable was to have bumped into Nora, herself I have to say, meeting and mingling with some of her closest confidants (I think I met the inspiration for Coralee in the books!) was equally delightful Her staff is genuine, competent, warm and engaging It takes more than a place to build an impression, and I am truly impressed

We stayed there for our wedding anniversary back in February, in the Darcy and Elizabeth room It was amazing The room and the amenities were out of this world, the food was so good, the staff was wonderful, and we couldnt get enough of it

We didnt really get to sit out on the outdoor patio since it was cold, but it was gorgeous none the less

Jessica Kidd

I loved the atmosphere It’s been a bucket list must for me for years! I’m so glad we finally went We stayed in Jane & Rochester

The bed was huge and so comfortable My other half wanted to live in it The tub and bathroom was gorgeous The toilet was a new experience for me but I secretly love it Everything was great I would of given it a five, but a few things fell short for me Nonetheless, we will be back!

My husband and I were there on Friday, Sept 10We absolutely do not understand the negative reviews about this place

It is an older hotel but kept up nicelyCheck in staff was extremely friendly, professional and promptOur room was clean, comfortable and the bathroom was spic and span (my personal standard)The reason for a 4 was the breakfast was nice, however could have been refreshed a bit sooner than was Some hot things were quite cool and cold fruit all but gone and tepid Not a huge deal at all Staff members were more than happy to accommodate As nearly everywhere, employees are stretched as they were not fully staffedWe would definitely stay there again and recommend Thanks very much

Brian Wilson

They will cancel your reservation 2 days before because they are overbooked even though I booked a month before GM was rude when I asked why and she said it was an emergency I called Hotels

com and that’s how I found out they overbooked Hotelscom booked me into the Home2 Suites which is way nicer I stayed at the Ramada last year but will never be back especially after staying at this hotel it’s a world of difference

Eva Allen

Outside and lobby looked wonderful Great restaurant nextdoor and all around Pretty nice place other than not any blanket on the bed

Carpet in elevators were dirty and coming apart I expected more from a Ramada Looks like they could spend a little money on elevator carpet So much noise from other guest it was hard to fall asleep

What a perfect place to stay when touring Antietam! The home has been lovingly restored and is decorated with eclectic memorabilia The owners are a lovely couple who clearly enjoy sharing their love of the area with guests Breakfast was absolutely amazing

Fresh home baked pastries (three different kinds!) along with a lovely egg dish We would absolutely stay here again

Amanda Bausch

In thinking about what to put in this review I see a list of amazing points, but I do see one negative I’m afraid that the Inn at Antietam may have set the bar too high for B&Bs in the futureThe Inn itself is beautiful, set in a wonderful historic site and clearly maintained with love

Add to that gorgeous suites and lovely common areas and you have a fantastic combo Not cold, prim, or overly themed A comfortable, livable space to ‘come home to’ after a day of adventureThe owners Miriam and Will (and don’t forget Hamish) are welcoming, warm, generous and uncommonly knowledgeable about the area If you need any advice on what to see, where to go, or even just want to know more about the historic area you are visiting they are there to help! Beware of trivia though… ;)Then there is breakfast If you ‘aren’t a breakfast person’ just toss that aside You want to be when you stay here! Creative, flavorful, interesting, and above all delicious Not to mention you literally won’t need lunch Be prepared for a take out bag to fuel your adventuresTruly a wonderful experience for all of us- we will be back! And hungry 🙂

Chris K

My wife and i made a quick 4 day run to visit some Civil War sites, unwind and chill We stayed here at the Inn for a couple of nights This was our first B&B experience

The bar has been set and it is high Hosts Miriam, Will, and Hamish made us feel very welcome The sleeping is solid and the food is great Warning- if you like a little sweet with your breakfast then you might have an issue Dessert for breakfast is how this place rolls! I for one love that change up! But you might need to take a walk afterwards Will has the best job in the world as the official taste tester Tough job but somebody has to do it! I cant imagine a better B&B experience Kentucky met Scotland and the Inn at Antietam is the result and the guest are the beneficiaries! Well done!

My husband and I recently spent a 3-day weekend at the Inn made for the perfect get away Convenient from the suburbs of Washington DC, a one-hour drive took us to this wonderful spot along the Potomac and the beauty of West Virginia Everything was first-rate and provided a perfect setting to rest, relax and enjoy good food and a relaxed atmosphere

The rooms were spacious, the staff extremely welcoming and helpful, the wait-staff was every bit as good as the food, with a varied menu that didn’t try too hard and did everything we tried very well The pool was a big favorite and the bar and setting exuded a vibe that screamed “relax and enjoy” We did!! For such a laid-back setting it was apparent that the place is extremely well run, with great attention to detail, and did I mention that the staff was just outstanding – attentive, friendly and efficient We even enjoyed views of two different bald eagles from our room and the pool The guests ran from young couples to middle-age folks, reflecting the wide appeal of a well-run resort for those simply looking to get away and chill Perhaps most impressive, our stay coincided with a very large birthday party but the level of service afforded to all guests didn’t miss a beat What a find!

Shirley Stinchcomb

We had an awesome girls getaway here! All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating! We had a gorgeous view from our little balcony overlooking the Potomac! Everything was clean and the view in the pool is beyond words! Food in the dining room was excellent as was the breakfast and the crab pretzel poolside! A nice walk to the park and to town for lunch and only about 15 minute drive to Harpers Ferry Beds were super comfortable too! This will definitely be a repeat experience for us! Highly recommend!

Linda Caricofe

This is one of our favorite get awaysThe Chalet we enjoy has a whirlpool bath, well appointed bathroom with folding door entrance, double vanity sinkKing size four poster bed, a gas fireplace , even a little sitting room sectionThe balcony views are amazing

We dined there for dinnerThe menu has changed since the last time we dined thereWe could not really see any entrees to interest us except the crab cakes, which were excellentThe Triple Sec cheesecake dessert was best of show yummy !Breakfast the next day was beyond wonderfulWe both think this place is well worth many repeat stays in the future

The pool was over crowded with teenagers and no parents in sight Went in the hot tub for a few minutes but it smelled like a swamp It must have been pool closing time because they turned the hot tub off after we got out and the water was green! It looked fine while the jets were on because all we could see was the bubbles

Would not recommend this place if your planning to use the pool or hot tub

Christan Govich

Hotel was located in a mall parking lot which had stores and restaurants that were walkable Nearby Target was a plus to stock up on necessities The room was large and clean

The bed was comfy and the TV was adequate The room had a mini fridge and microwave which was a nice plus The noise from the nearby highway was loud Rooms facing the back of the hotel were definitely louder, but the sound was noticeable in the front as well They had free breakfast in the AM, but very limited selection Cereal, oatmeal, eggs, some fruit The same every morning

Raymond Wall

Rooms are nice, clean Check in was a little problematic Breakfast was not so good

6-9 but they started cleaning it up at 8:52 Even worse they didn’t stock it so they wouldn’t have as much to clean I’m guessing I got there at 8:20 and there were two yoghurts, only two milks and some low fatThe worst part was the woman ran a cart at me and made me jump out of the way or I would have got run over Never seen such rudeness!Pool and hot tub were out of order a sign said Just saw a review from two months ago that the pool and hot tub were not available and they stated that it’s supposedly been out of order for monthsGo some place else! There’s others right around here!

Stayed here for an overnight stop on a long distance road trip Hotel was very nice! It was close to the highway without being right beside it so there was no road noises The hotel was close to many nice restaurants and shops

The hotel and rooms were very clean and updated The room we stayed in had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus a great kitchen which was wonderful for the 3 of us that stayed in the room Breakfast had a great assortment of items, however would definitely recommend that they get a second waffle maker to help with the wait As a plus they also have a guest laundry which was really helpful because we had a lot of laundry to do from our trip I would recommend that they install more ice makers on each floor as well, the only one we could find was on level 1 on the other side of the hotel

James redneck

Close to hiway Room was perfectly cleaned Tip of the hat to cleaning staff

Mark was working the desk and was great Took his time and went beyond to make me feel welcome This has never happened to me before but about 20 min after I checked in he messaged me asking about the room and was I satisfied with it Now that’s service Hopefully management recognize his efforts and steps up If your looking for clean and Friendly staff definitely stay here

Julie Moran

Five star accommodations, four-star value

I was given a truly spacious, comfortable and well-stocked room (with one exception — one tiny pair of shampoo / conditioner bottles, necessitating a trip to the lobby to get more) The hotel is conveniently located off I-81 and offered a decent breakfast and good front desk service One sour note: While it didn’t affect my one-night stay, room cleaning and servicing takes place every four days At a total price exceeding $200 for a off-the-highway hotel, I would consider that a rather lousy value

Overall not a bad holiday I’ve stayed in worse but I’ve definitely stayed in better Staff is very friendly and professional

Rooms are clean and updated Gym looks nice, I believe they just got the pool open but hot tub may still be down for repairs Breakfast service isn’t bad although they tend to run out of popular things often They do have laundry on-site but only one washer and one dryer so if someone else happens to be using it your stuck waiting or loading up and finding a laundromat My only real complaint with this location would be the fact that there is no guest trash cans other than the entrance and the breakfast area Used to seeing them by the elevators or ice machines As a result guests are told to put trash outside of room at beginning of day and housekeeping will take care of it which works but in my personal opinion looks horrible and brings down the overall experience of this location

Jennifer Roy

Spent several days here last week The service was excellent The breakfast was hands down fantastic

Only down side to the entire stay “pool was closed, needed repairs” Wished we were told this prior to checking it Would it have changed our plans not sure, but at least we would have known prior All other aspects of our stay was great Beds super comfy Lots of pillows, my favorite Plenty of towels Room was spacious and comfortable We would definitely stay again

Ramachandra Sattigeri

We booked this hotel to visit a near by ski-resort When we arrived however to see that the hotel pool was closed for repairs, and our kids were really disappointed The check-in person told us it was advertised that the pools were closed on the website, however we don’t recollect seeing any notice like that

Next the elevator was out of service, and we had to carry our luggage up the stairs Not a big deal, but it was definitely not ideal when having to shepherd small kids along with the luggage when checking in and out of the hotel The rooms were clean but the floor a/c in our room behaved strangely It wouldn’t cool down to the temps we wanted The saving grace was the hotel breakfast I probably would look for a different hotel the next time I come for the ski-resort

The complimentary breakfast was excellent with options for everyone The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and they were able to quickly add an adjoining room to our suite when we needed more space for our autistic son I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone in town for business or pleasure

Paige Franssen

Stayed for a wedding in the area, rooms were clean and comfortable! Conveniently located with a friendly staff One staff member even gave us some extra cold waters when we returned after a night of dancing After driving 7 hours home I realized I forgot my makeup bag and they had it shipped back to us in just a few days

Only complaint was a bit of a wait for the elevators, I think only one was functioning during our stay

I wish I could put 45 stars To start the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful in the check in process

There was some confusion (on my part, not the hotel) with our reservation The receptionist and another member of the staff helped me right through it and were actually fun to deal with The rooms was clean, comfortable and nicely laid out Pillows were pretty pathetic and the bed comfort was average – maybe a step above The gym looked pretty nice, but I didn’t have the opportunity to use it I also feel the room was a good value in a very convenient location

molly long

This is our go-to hotel My boyfriend drives tractor trailer so we stay at hotels quite frequently Rooms are very clean and comfortable

The complimentary breakfast is wonderful and it’s not just pastries and cereal, they always have eggs and sausage, or bacon in addition to waffles and an array of cereal and pastries Not to mention coffee is available anytime Staff is always eager to help We had a misunderstanding the other day over check in, and the gentleman that came in for second shift went above and beyond to accommodate us I saw a few reviews giving low scores for the smell of marijuana I’ve smelled it faintly in the hallway before, but never in our room FYI: you can’t go anywhere anymore without smelling Marijuana I stayed at the Hyatt last week and I smelled it more there than I ever have here so if you think paying more money will eliminate that, good luck to you, lol

Melissa Johnson

We absolutely love Country Inn & Suites! Every time we’ve stayed in one, we’ve have a good experience They’re friendly and the rooms are always clean Would choose this chain over any other in this price range

Oh and they’re affordable and we always get the size bed that we book (we’ve had a couple where we got 2 queens or a full in two other places when we’ve booked a king, disappointing)

While everything was goodand the rooms were mostly clean, the TV was one of the old LG clunkers and I couldn’t use my fire stick with it As well, the plug-in ethernet did not work And there was the fact that we didn’t have any shampoo or lotion in the room and had to ask for it

For the price we paid, it should have been a lot more However, the staff was awesome and the location was great

This hotel is near restaurants and the small town mall Good location The service from the staff was good

Melissa the bartender was amazing, she was a one woman show and kept an amazing attitude! The young man at the front desk was AMAZINGhe ALSO was a one man showchecking us in, getting extra towels, lightning the fire pit, etc handling the entire hotel aloneoften having to put up a ‘be back soon’ sign to just to go to the restroom This hotel is severely understaffed and putting good employees under undo pressure Rooms were clean upon check-in, but no housekeeping Lots of confusion about reservations and we were overcharged Over $2000 for 4 nights????? ( rooms @94/night???) Do your research about current staffing and check your bill

The dogs behaved better than other customers Some of their employees are rude I had a situation and one employee told me one thing and another told me different There is absolutely no communication between staff I also had the do not disturb tag on my door and the cleaning staff came right in and of course said house keeping and I said I was in the room she apologized then said your not on a late checkout time I said I’m aware it is only 11am and my confirmation email said check out at 12pm Never again will I support a Hilton hotel! Only thing good about it was the location

The staff was very welcoming–spoke to a few of the staff members and they were very helpful and made my check-in and check-out very easy for me I stayed in a pet-friendly room that was a little dated but clean and the bed was very comfortable I would give this place 5 stars except for a few minor things- the wallpaper in the room was bubbling or looked like it was coming off in spots, the refrigerator in the room had some grime in it, and this is more of a suggestion–for pet-friendly rooms, maybe don’t have carpeting but like a pergo or something like that (easier to clean and won’t capture odors as much) Either way I very much enjoyed my stay and I will definitely be back!

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in a long time I do understand it was busy, but my room had dirty walls, curtains, and sheets Hair and stain on mattress topper and sheets

Scotch tape used on the wall to hold the seam of the wallpaper downI requested clean sheets, the sheets given were also stained We did not feel comfortable using the bathroom to shower the next dayThe microwave was filthy, the cushions on the seats were soiled It was an unpleasant experience all the way around

When we entered the lobby, we were met by Rachel who greeted us with a big smile She efficiently checked us in literally within a minute Our paperwork was preprinted, she recognized our diamond status and stated that our amenity points were added while we signed our check-in form

Our room was clean, but hasn’t been updated to the latest version, so there was a lack of USB ports and the outlets were worn out We had to play with them to keep our chargers connected Other than that, the breakfast buffet was sparse They only had scrambled eggs and sausage on the hot line No biscuits and gravy, omelets, home fries, etc that other express locations usually serve Overall, it was not a bad place to stay, but not as nice as others we’ve spent the night at

Chris and Amy were both very hospitable Chris actually led our tour and was very knowledgeable I highly recommend the Antietam room because of the wonderful second floor porch We also loved the gift shop on site They had a great selection of items very reasonably priced

This as a terrific inn in every waylocated in historic Sharpsburg, the inn has been lovingly restored We had one bedroom with an adjoining suite as there were five of us

The space was perfect Beds are extremely comfortable and the sheets are the coziest I have ever slept on Breakfast is a feast We sat out in the yard each night and had our own cocktail hour after a long day of touring the area The inn is a perfect jumping off spot for Harper’s Ferry, Antietam, Gettysburg, Shepardstown, Boonsoboro etc There is so much to see here Your hosts at the inn are terrific Chris is in charge of the guides at Antietam, so try to ask for him if you opt for a private tour All in all, this the Jacob Rohrbach Inn will not disappoint on any front
