Service was downright awful! The person checking me in, didn’t want to do anything and come to the desk In the morning I took the kids to get some breakfast, and even though the app said they had a continental breakfast, they didn’t I asked what was on the kids menu and they said there wasn’t one, even though the sign said there was one

Will never go back again Awful experience

Serves was awful and are keys stilted working and my head itches after sleeping in that bed and I bought 1 doctor pepper and 1 gatarad and 2 ice cream and it was $2158 and they don’t tell you how much it is and there soups smell so bad and so do there towels I have never gone to badder hotel and you can hear people everywhere and it’s just terrible serves!!

I would rather give 0 star On August 8,I checked in 12:09 midnight and checked out at 8am I found bedbugs in our room

I took a picture and I informed the front desk The lady who checked out us, just looking at my eyes and said yes that’s bedbugs No words that’s saying I do apologize, or offering me to move to another clean room She just looking at my eyes I am not going to stay again to this hotel again! Plus, I asked for toothbrush, they run out I understand! Again, no apologetic words! She didn’t even greeted us good morning or say bye thank you for staying at Marriott when we checked out My question is why putting employee at the front of the house with 0 zero costumer skills?

I recently stayed here while working on my mother’s house The staff made me feel like a welcome old friend, even when I was dirty, sweaty, and smelly Everyone seemed to be delighted to help me no matter what the need was, and my room was serviced every day

The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable But the staff and management are the real story, because everyone here is working toward one goal – taking care of their customers Southern Hospitality at its finest!!

Faith Taylor

Let me tell you about this place- clean: the property, the rooms, the breakfast space was all very clean The breakfast was your basic continental breakfast but it was good and the food items and condiments were continuously stocked Above all, the staff was superb! SUPERB! Beyond nice, professional, helpful, accommodating, and just cool people! We stay in our fair share of hotels and these folks were top notch

Carol Peterson

We stopped here on our way to family in Texas The employees working at the front desk were great They were friendly, helpful, and hospitable

Our room was the perfect size for the night and everything was in working order It is obvious that the building is in much need of some improvements, however, we were very comfortable The fitness center was not good The belt on the treadmill was ripped and warped and really shouldn’t be used anymore The fitness room is tiny Maybe a max of two people could work out in there at a time as long as one or both are on the treadmill and eliptcle (I think it was an elipticle I don’t remember right now, sorry ) Overall it is a good place to stay as it is close to food, shopping, and freeway

I was burned and n the hand by the faulty room coffee pot which had left over water in it I was using the microwave to reheat my dinner The microwave wouldn’t work so I reset the outlet; after about 5 seconds the coffee pot; which I didn’t turn on; started spitting out hot water! It burned my hand

Not breaking the skin but minor discoloration, pain, and swelling I reported it to the front desk I was offered to go to care now and given a bag to put some ice in to make an ice pack I wanted to file and incident report but they said they would do it No one took down my name or anything I don’t think this is proper protocol I wasn’t checked on I had to go down and remind them to talk to the manager After I spoke with the manager she didn’t offer any help on completing an incident report or anythingAlso the hotel had water leaking from the ceiling pretty heavily when it rained It was a huge safety hazard I was traveling with elderly parentsAlso there was no bed linen for the let out sofa and the mattress was very dirty so we all piled into the bedVery unpleasant experience to say the least I will be contacting corporate about this incident

Arkelia Cannon

I was burned by the coffee pot I’m the room that malfunctioned I was told hey would let management know I had to go back down to tell the manger myself because I was never notified

There shouldn’t have been water left in the pot This situation could’ve been worse My hand was swollen, pained, and slightly discolored I was not offered the opportunity to file a complaint or an incident report They said they would do it for me But didn’t take any information Very unpleasant experience to say the least

Darrell King

Stayed here last month, the room was dirty it had hair in the tub and on the sheets The comforter had hair on it and stains Got cleaner and a fresh set of sheets from the desk clerk

Desk clerk said he would let the manager know but nothing was done Would not recommend this place unless you don’t mind sleeping on the sheets someone else has slept on Forget the indoor pool it was “under maintenance”

Beautiful hotel 99% clean to my standards Horrible restaurant

We paid for breakfast vouchers and were informed it was open until 11 on the weekends We came down at 10 and the chef takes our vouchers and then tells us they are closing up early and we can pick at whatever is left When we mention a refund, he looks at the bar and says there’s enough for us left While attempting to scratch up some of the food that was “left over”, the staff was standing all though the small areaThe rest of breakfast we spent listening to the kitchen staff stand in the buffet area and complain about how bad their job is, talking loudly across the small area The front desk was super nice about it and took care of us, but there was no manager on duty at the time Both pools were nice Indoors was a little warm and dirty, outdoor was perfect No towels in either area though

TJ Troiano

I would stay here again if visiting or working in the area The suites are well laid out, finely decorated, and spacious The bathroom is a bit smaller than I am accustomed to in a Holiday Inn

The service is top notch The amenities are well thought from the pool to the outdoor entertainment areas (including a fenced in basketball court The hall noise was a bit more audible than expected and the hotel reatraunt lacked the atmosphere of others I have experienced at Holiday Inn across the country

Westley Mutziger

We arrived late for business, around 11pm, for a one night stay Very nice lobby Staff were moderately friendly

Originally, we were told breakfast was not included because of our rate Thankfully another employee offered us some vouchers by mistake Rooms are nice, clean, and spacious Kuerig and coffee in the room No shampoo! Neither my nor my co-workers room had shampoo! Only face soap and conditioner! Hot breakfast offered with pretty good variety Coffee was mediocre Day time staff very friendlyOverall, a good place to stay with a head scratcher here and there

Beautiful and Peaceful! So much history here From the moment you step foot into one of the cabins you are taken back in time 100 plus years The sweet soothing smell of a fireplace makes you wonder just how many stories, hopes and dreams were shared throughout the years right here in this very spot

If you let it, your imagination will take you back to a time of horse drawn carriages and sweet serenity

juan sabogal

Great placeWe stayed there 2 years ago and we came backWe shared more stories with Dean Cannot express the formality and peaceful feeling that you get from Mrs

Dean and the place itselfWill keep coming backGod bless Mrs Dean and her family

Richard Arbaugh

Momma Dean is the host at the Meador Homestead Bed and Breakfast There are two cabins – one is a log cabin built in the 1800’s Updated of course, but it retains a lot of past

My son, grandson and myself were going to Hattiesburg for a NCAA college baseball regional tourney All the hotels were full and the closest room was 36 miles awayI looked for a bed and breakfast and we lucked into the Meador Homestead Bed and Breakfast I called and Momma Dean answered the phone I was in luck and was able to book for the Friday nightWhen we arrived in town Friday, Momma Dean met us at the location and showed us around the log cabin It was straight out of the past, but updated The one we stayed in was built by her great grandfatherIt had a bedroom and across the breezeway was a sitting room The other room had a kitchen and bath – and a beautiful modern shower This area also had a loft that had a king size bed I slept in the log cabin bed – a rope bed It was very comfortableThe cabins are on a beautiful property There is a small lake about 200 yards from the cabin Also on the property are a dining room and a larger tea room Mamma Dean also has tea parties and small lunches in these two facilitiesBreakfast was great and we talked with Mamma Dean for awhile and she told us all about how the Bed and Breakfast came into existanceIf you are in the Hattiesburg area and want a very quite and peaceful place to stay – Meador Homestead Bed and Breakfast and meet Mamma Dean, a true Southern Belle

My son, grandson and myself spent three nights in the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg We were in town for the Hattiesburg NCAA college baseball tourney The hotel was fully booked and the staff were outstanding

Cheryl at the front desk made us feel right at home She gave us very helpful adviseThe beds were comfortable and the rooms were cool Made for good sleepingIf you are in Hattiesburg – and need a good place to stay, the Holiday Inn is a great choice

Emily Owens

We stopped in to sleep after a 10 hour drive The hotel looks nice in the lobby and the rooms looked great However, the bathroom in our room was not thoroughly cleaned

I hopped in the shower and noticed some dirt and things flowing to the drain, and when I looked up the wall there was what looked like a booger (Ugh) When I got out and grabbed a towel, there was a thick curly black hair wrapped in with the towel

This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in Front desk was very short, can tell they don’t enjoy working here The rooms were dirty as hell & smelled like mildew

After changing rooms twice, I gave up & went to store for cleaning products I could not get clean towels or linen during my stay Vents are covered in dust Carpets stink & are stained all throughout the hotel Breakfast was HORRIBLE, plan to go out if you’re still thinking to book here… DONT!! Pool was filthy, had bugs floating around surface Marriott should be ashamed to have this hotel under its brand Absolutely disgusting… my review in the nicest way possible

jennifer gabriel

Room was awful Every lamp and faucet was rusty Bathroom was poorly painted and had poorly done caulking repairs

The tub was stained black Went to dinner for 7:30pm when we returned around 9:30pm the room was hot and humid like the ac was turned off Walked over to check it to find that the carpet surrounding the unit was saturated with water When we reported it to the front desk all they offered was to give us some towels so WE could clean it up ourselves We then asked for a room transfer and we were declined because they were sold out When we asked for a manager all we were able to speak to was a house keeping supervisor When discussing our situation we explained we have a 1 year old and there was no way to keep her off the floor and that the ac was not working In response we were told that there was no one on property to take a look at the unit and that either we could stay or get a room at another property So we chose to leave to another property and the supervisor said that she would talk to the Manager on duty Monday about paying the difference for our new room which was $150 more She told us that she was 95% sure they would take care of the bill Needles to say it is now four days later and still no phone call I will never stay here again nor recommend this place

Nathalie McClelland

Very very disappointed! I chose a Marriott hotel for a reason because I Ike high quality This hotel was dirty in so many ways The chair in the room was very stained

The bathroom was dirty and the shower curtain rod was broken The walls were patched up The lamps were rusted The carpets were stained I only stayed because all the other hotels in the area were all full I would not recommend anyone to stay there

We have stayed at hotels for years while traveling and this is one of the most amazing staffs that we have ever encountered Super friendly, super helpful And, we left something in our room and they traced it down and are getting it back to us

You could not have asked for a more pleasant stay And, the room was excellent!

T Tony

My daughter was at breakfast this morning and accidentally spilled the milk canister that was inappropriately placed due to staff trying to clean up at 9:30am when breakfast isn’t over until 10am Instead of salvaging the milk that was left over in the canister, the breakfast staff decided to pour it out and tell my child who was excited about cereal and milk that they ran out and it won’t have any more available until tomorrow After consulting with a manager and front desk staff that decided to comment on us coming at “9:30am” (I am a nurse who works long 12 hours shifts and getting the kids up for breakfast every morning by 9-930 after work the day before is obviously an issue with them)

Because of the staffs inability to do their job correctly my child was left in tears We pay a pretty penny to live here and enjoy breakfast and I don’t need anyone commenting with their thoughts and opinions of how I chose to enjoy my stay They also FALSE advertise food allergies accommodations but obviously cannot grant those needs either I am livid!!!!

Alani Okafor

It was awful from the time I walked in the door (Thursday night, 5/6/22), until the day I left (5/10/22) I checked in late in the evening, maybe around 10pm When I got to my room, it appeared to be clean

Upon further inspection the next day (Friday), I found that the toilet seat was broken, the microwave was extremely dirty, there were hairs & trash in the bathroom, & I got bit by something (maybe bedbugs or fleas?) I brought it to the front desk’s attention & I was told that I had to request hskp the day before & they would not be there on the weekends Sunday, I asked the front desk for hskp & explained because my room wasn’t clean upon arrival Monday I talked to the operation’s manager about my issues She assured they’d be taken care of I arrived at the hotel Monday afternoon after work & guess what?? Maintenance had come to fix the toilet & sink, hskp came, but they didn’t vacuum nor clean the microwave 😒I went downstairs to ask Ta, the front desk guy with the DREADS, if hskp was still there & told him why He told me they were gone for the day I asked him if there was anything he could do Call management, come do it for me, anything at all His nonchalant response kept being, “I’m the front desk worker and that’s all” My response was “so f me basically huh?” He came back with, “well I work front desk”…Now, as a front desk lead at my own hotel, there’s absolutely no way I’d tell a guest that EVER!!! I left, came back, & asked him again if he were absolutely sure he couldn’t help me He said he couldn’t As I was leaving, I saw the houseman & asked her if she could help She didn’t protest at all, & I tipped her, even thought it wasn’t her job either When I returned, my floor was kinda vacuumed but my microwave STILL wasn’t touched I called corporate & filed a reportOut of at least 20 years of hotel stays I have NEVER had a Hilton experience like this Today (5/10/22) I was told that they no longer wanted me to stay at the property because “I’m confrontational”… Well, anywhere that I have to stay for over 30 days, I definitely would love for it to be clean & up to brand standards I was ultimately “kicked out” of the hotel since “we continue to have conflict”Pics attached

Unfortunately the housekeepers only changed the trash, linens, and towels and then said never mind to the rest of the room Half the dishes weren’t cleaned, the floors weren’t swept/mopped in many areas, carpets weren’t vacuumed, again many areas were just severely missed Previous guests food was left in the pantry

There was a random trail of m&ms from bedroom to closet to the room across the hallThis would of gotten a better review if it had been properly cleaned The staff was very friendly and helpful The bed and pillows were comfortable The shower had great temp and pressure It is pet friendly and rooms are large with full kitchen

Mary Jane Richards

It was nice but the rooms were not very clean For the cost , I don’t want to find any food crumbs in the kitchenette drawers and where a trash can is supposed to be it have what looked like tissue that you blow your nose on And for the price they had no breakfast

And what they did have the price was ridiculous 2 of us at Popeye’s chicken for the same cost as a Oz of ice cream cup that is smaller that my hand and I’m a 100 lb woman I have small hands, plus the price of a coke But other then that our night desk chick was awesome and very nice and helpful

Stephanie Yowell

Stayed here for my sons baseball tournament My room had a nasty, musty, animal smell It was not very clean at all

The bathroom was dirty and the tub faucet dripped constantly On one of the beds the mattress smelled terrible Smelt like a dog lived there for months No one could come in to clean Begged for towels for 2 days Ended up adding clean sheets to the stinky bed ourselves If there had been other options for us to move hotels, we would’ve Do not stay here!

Had a rough check-in but turned out to be quick and ok Room was clean, set at 60° when we walked in but whatever Very modern, new, and clean

Not much space for family traveling, no drawers or closet, probably best for business travelers There was no hot water, just warm water in shower Bathroom floor hadn’t been swept as there was hair all over Walls are thin and between floors as well You can hear rooms upstairs, doors opening and closing in hallway and all conversations around Might have over payed for this trendy hotel Gave them 4/5 because it was very clean and nice, just not the best option for our family in the future

Shane Yarnall

I travel routinely for business and stay at IHG hotels when I can This is my first, and probably only, time staying at an Avid Rooms are very basic

Queen sized bed, large tv with half of the channels in the channel list working, no microwave, no coffee maker No carpet in the rooms One of the benches in my room was broken Told the front desk, but so far nothing has been done I have a few more days here, so we’ll see No pool, extremely basic breakfast option (granola bars, cereal in prepackaged containers, individually packaged muffins, coffee (more like brown water; needs to be much stronger or at least an option to brew stronger) bar open 24/7 Good location to restaurants and USM

Madison Northrup

The breakfast staff were very friendly The room was dirty and small My wife and I came with our 2 kids,3 and 7 months old and is crawling

My husband happened to do a walk around the room before we came in and found weed on the floor We brought our service dog with us We gave the front desk her 10 digit service stop code During the reservation 10 days before we even cameOur 1st night was it was OK, front desk staff were not friendlyThe 2nd night my husband was stopped and confronted by confronted by the front desk in a very rude manner He said he was just checking because he would have To deep clean our room with our dog Which doesn’t make sense because we had already told the front desk A LONG TIME AGO and he was concerned about it the 2nd night Let’s be real he was just trying to be very rude Also deep clean? And it was a very unprofessional manner he said that service dogs do not consist of emotional support dogs I politely told him my dog was for diabetes Terrible,, don’t bring yourittle ones here, don’t bring your service dogs, don’t bring your business

1-night (Sunday) suite stay Pros: 1) good water pressure, 2) sink, microwave, and fridge are well positioned, 3) room was pretty clean Cons: 1) bathrooms need major renovations and updating [look at the ancient blow dryer], 2) one elevator, 3) no real breakfast, 4) check-in took way too long [they want vehicle tag number written down, Covid waiver, and a liability form filled out] – blew my mind!

Barbara White

The room was nice service was good but I have stayed in many hotels and many chains across the US and this was the sorriest excuse for a breakfast I have ever been offered Whomever decides the breakfast menu needs to be disciplined I walked up and thought the gentleman that was putting the last of the fruit out was running very late putting breakfast out

I apologized for rushing him He said no your not I sat down to wait on him to finish and looked up to see he was outside smoking and realized the frozen breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, coffee, juice was breakfast There may have been yogurt & one or two other things but there was definitely no eggs grits oatmeal toast bagels or anything close to it After the expensive room I left and went bought a decent breakfast So no I won’t stay there again I stay at hotels all over the US and this is the worst breakfast I have come across You pay too much for rooms to get that kind of breakfast

Austin W

We were traveling through the town at around 4 am and realized we were too tired to keep going Pulled up and Mike managed to find an available room for us right away! The room and the hotel itself were all very clean Much higher quality than what I expected for the price! If I ever needed to stay the night in Hattiesburg again, I know where I’d stay ☺️

We always stay in marriots when traveling The hotel was clean and nice, staff was nice But a few little things that really bother me is when things we depend on aren’t working

Ice maker on our floor was broken Pool was “out of order” while it looked just fine That is a big deal for the kids Luckily we only stayed one night Also breakfast “ended” at 9:30 which is too early for a Sunday but by 9:10 they didn’t even have any waffle mix or sausage left And several people asked for it but they wouldn’t accommodate So you’d better love powdered eggs because there was a huge pile of them At least they had fresh fruit and good coffee little things like this cost very little and really make folks angry when breakfast is essentially over before it’s scheduled to be I witnessed at least 5 unhappy customers at breakfast We probably won’t stay at this location again

First, let me say that the staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional The room, however, could have been better It definitely wasn’t as clean as it should have been

Upon arrival, the freezer/refrigerator wasn’t the cleanest There were a couple of sticky spots on the bathroom floor, so it was obvious that the floor wasn’t freshly mopped Although the bed sheets had been laundered, there were still a couple of small stains/spots on them that the laundry didn’t get cleaned, so they obviously should have been inspected and tossed Overall, the room had not been thoroughly/deeply cleaned Thankfully, we brought our own bedding and cleaning supplies The staff being so nice is the only reason I’m leaving two stars, but we probably won’t patronize this hotel again

We stayed here for one night Staff was nice, but we were told that the pool was down which was a minus In our room, on the ceiling there was black mold and the roof looked like it was almost leaking through

There was also mold on the bathroom ceiling Although these issues, the kitchen was fully stocked and the room was comfortable

Arrived and went to the desk to check in only to discover that my reservation had been canceled for no apparent reason Enter Courtney Fuller Courtney was in charge of the front desk when I came in to check in and it did, indeed, look as if my reservation had been canceled

Looked like I was up the river without a paddle! And the hotel was sold out for the evening!!Then Courtney went to work! Utilizing her knowledge of the hotels scheduling system she searched me out and found that my reservation had been canceled but no reason why She dug deeper and found the problem and instantly corrected it and I had a room againLong story short It is customer service like Courtney displayed that keeps us coming back to the Hattiesburg Best Western University Hotel each time we visit hereEasily the best place in Hattiesburg to stay by far!Thank you Courtney and Best Western!
