We recently spent 4 nights at the Cayucos Sunset Inn We were lucky enough to get a reservation on comparatively short notice, and did not regret it Everything at the Inn is in excellent condition and the innkeepers were very helpful and attentive

The room had a jacuzzi and gas fireplace, which was nice for the cool evenings we experienced Breakfasts were prepared to perfection, and to order Parking is in the back, off the street We were able to relax and enjoy visiting our friends and not worry about our accommodations We walked out the front door and down the hill to the beach, which was itself a treat We can highly recommend this Inn

As a previous Cayucos local I was ecstatic to hear that the same people who purchased the Sunset Inn back in the early 2000’s are still there! Their attention to detail is top notch! Everything from check-in to check-out was perfect! Our room was immaculate & serviced well In the room we really enjoyed the large shower over jacuzzi tub, fireplace, & private outdoor area No XXX details, sorry! The location is not oceanfront (which we knew) but it’s literally a 2 minute walk to the sand, coffee shops, great restaurants, bars & shopping! The included daily breakfast is the best you’ll find in Cayucos as well

Be sure to check out Lunada, Schooners Wharf and the Brown Butter Cookie Company Neighboring towns have tons to offer as well! Cambria, Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo being the closest with Avila, Shell & Pismo Beaches just a bit further (25 min) Treat yourself & stay here if you want the best room & service! There are nice hotels on the beach, but this was my first choice!! Hope this helps other travelers 😁

Ghydaa Prather

We stayed for a week and the staff made this trip warm and welcoming from the very beginning They are very accommodating of my GF diet needs, even baked GF cookies for me daily Breakfast was made to order every morning, with coffee, juice, fresh fruit, GF muffin, potatoes and a main dish

The room and bed were very comfortable and if you need something, just ask the staff and you will be taken care of The B&B is one street from the beach access We had an amazing view of the pier from our patio I would stay here again, it was well worth it

The rooms are beautiful and unique, charming and certainly not cookie cutter My wife and I had the “hideaway room” with it’s own private staircase and entranceBoth my wife and I had incredible massages from Kristina, one of the best I’ve had

It’s so nice to get a beautiful relaxing massage and then roll back into your room and enjoy the experience, rather than drive back to your roomThe French bakery on the ground floor is a Must Authentic Parisian cuisine, freshly made pastries, souffles , hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads , coffee and moreYou have the best view of the bay and the Rock and everything is within walking distance plus, hiking trails all around you, through the estuaries and foothillsWe just loved our stay here !Thank you Val 😉

Brittani Rothenfluh

My husband and I have been together for 8 years and have never taken an overnight trip without kids This location was perfect for that! We loved it We booked The Hideaway room and not only was it very private and had its own stairwell to the outside of the hotel, it had such a great view

We will be staying here every year now It had a very cabin feel but a little industrial thrown in (exposed sprinkler pipe) So awesome! There was a couch in our room that overlooked the marina & we were right above a French bakery and our favorite, Frankie & Lola’s We did not take advantage of the spa this time, but will next time! Additionally, the owner was the nicest woman She made sure we liked the room, and let us know to call if we needed anything She also left a very nice bottle of aged Firestone for my husband I told her I wasn’t a wine drinker because of headaches😕 Another thing we really liked was that this place only has three rooms so it’s not crowded, nor does it make you feel unsafe like some places do We felt completely safe And don’t let me forget the King size bed This was not an ordinary hotel bed, it was extremely comfortable with a super soft blanket and down comforter You’ll love this place!

K. T.

My husband and I stayed in the Big Sur room and it was fabulous Comfy king size bed, clean and a ceiling fan that kept it nice and cool We had a beautiful view of Morro Bay rock

Everything was in walking distance (food, shops, the water) It was very nice to stay somewhere without a lot of rooms and people We enjoyed listening to the sea lions and seagulls Would definitely recommend and we’d definitely stay here again Also, great massages with the massage beds literally steps away from the room

Wonderful stay at the Inn We stayed in a Queen bed room with the Embarcadero viewRooms: The queen room is somewhat small compared to a normal hotel, but there was enough room for the pack-and-play and the baby

Bed seemed to be a memory foam mattress, which was a nice! The complementary candies and coffee were of excellent quality, and the complementary wine was a nice touch The rooms were well-maintained After 10 PM, the door connecting the upstairs to the restaurant closes and requires a key for access During the night, you can hear neighboring doors shutService: We were checked in by Mackenzie The hotel is small, with only ten rooms, so the level of individual service during the day is amazing Be advised that the lobby closes during the night–talk to your host to know where to call in the evenings just in caseLocation: CANNOT BE BEAT You’re placed directly on the Embarcadero, and have a great view no matter which side of the building you’re on The restaurant downstairs has tremendous seafood, beers, and views A quick walk both up and down the street brings you to a wonderful collection of shops, bars, and eateriesYou’re missing out if you don’t give the Inn a try

Beautiful, new rooms The bar is exceptional with creative cocktail selectionsThe electrical situation in the room is odd

I tried charging my portable charging unit and after a while it would just stop charging until I unplugged and plugged it back in Shower water pressure in our room was very low No blackout shades for the window/sliding glass door, which made sleeping more difficult for meOverall, it’s very nice and I would stay here again

Tessa Faulkner

this hotel is possibly one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed It’s gorgeous, and in an unbeatable location right in downtown SLO We stayed for two nights and were easily able to get a very late check-out our last day, so we could sleep in, eat some room service, and go for a last dip in the pool! the room was gorgeous- huge and airy, with a fantastic bathroom and really beautiful contemporary design

We also brought our dog- this place is seriously dog-friendly, and she sat with us while we ate, sat by the pool, and was super comfortable in the room when we left her We will definitely be staying here again!

Erum Kiger

The most amazing hotel! The space is stunning and modern A really stylish space Our room was so spacious and clean

Everything was comfortable There’s nespresso machines, tea kettles Filtered refrigerated water ( with refill taps on every floor that dispense still and sparkling water) The rooftop is very cool The pool is lovely The food and drinks are spot on and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming This little hotel is perfect in every way

This is one of the best Motels we have stayed in for a long time The view from our third story room was of everything that makes Morro Bay amazing We could watch the sun set over the rock from the ample windows in our front door or pull a chair outside on the walk way to relax

The staff was great, serving coffee in the AM and taking care of our every need Really enjoyed our stayPlease note, there are not coffee makers in the room, but coffee available all day in the front office When you get a coffee from the front office, the come with an inspirational quote taped to the lid It was a very cute touch There was a microwave and fridge in our room Also, there was only one cafe style table in the room for table surfaces But, we spent most of our time watching the views!

Roger Lasater

Truly a great place to stay Rooms are clean and spacious The staff are amazing

It was my first time here, at the suggestion of a friend, and I couldn’t be happier Close to the beach with excellent views from the second and third story windows I was on the ground floor but only had to walk across the street for amazing views and a quick jaunt down the wooden steps brought me right to the strip Special shout out to Jessica for being awesome throughout the process of trip confirmation, check in, and morning coffee with affirmations

Nik Smith

My family and I have stayed here every summer for the past 2 years and this summer we’re planning on going again We love this hotel It’s close to the Embarcadero and beach

The rooms on the 3rd floor give you a lovely view of Morro Rock The service has always been good The complimentary coffee is excellent It can get a bit noisy with the sea lions and activity in the evening, just pop in some ear plugs of you’re sensitive My only gripe is that this year is that the rates went up ridiculously We will have to cut our stay short this summer for that reason This may be the last year we stay at The Landing and that makes me sad

Boutique hotel, very friendly and well worth the stay Set rates no matter time of year Lots of amenities

Most rooms have private patios overlooking the estuary Super peacefulVoucher for $7 off Nautical Bean in parking lot, which easily covers breakfast Coffee might cost you extra, but it was good coffee Breakfast was fantastic and it’s a cute coffee shop

Danielle Vabner

Absolutely beautiful getaway My fiancé and I went here over Memorial Day weekend for a couple days and it was perfect The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was right on the water with a patio overlooking the water

Great for reading or just relaxing, looking out, and enjoying the view Their breakfast was delicious (try the breakfast burrito with sausage!) and it’s located in a cute town within walking distance of several restaurants and a great local bakery The Back Bay Inn is a gem and not to be missed!

Al E

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this small motel located right on the bay Good size spotless clean rooms Nice grounds and great view of the bay from every room

Some rooms have a patio or balcony facing the bay Great breakfast and nice wine reception every day Very small business area adjacent to the motel with good dine in or takeaway food options: mexican, Thai, sandwiches, pizza and craft beer/pub food Only drawback is no microwave in the rooms – only a fridge and a Keurig The microwave in the breakfast/ reception room is only available in the morning (8-10) or early evening (4-6)

Cass House Grill in Cayucos is a fairly new restaurant for this little beach town They just opened in June of this year The food is great and the atmosphere low key

It’s outdoor seating in their pavilion but it’s sheltered enough and there are heaters above all of the entrances so you will not be cold The food is served family style Each of the dishes are large enough to feed 2 people I picked 3 items and had them brought out in courses It’s all locally sourced in Cayucos and the other surrounding towns They also have a vegetable garden on site They also have a bakery on site that makes all of their desserts and baked goods for breakfast This was a pleasant surprise during my weekend stay and I will definitely be coming back! If your are looking for something a little nicer for dinner, this is the place try

Kay Murphy

The restaurant I’d planned to go to was closed for some reason, so I strolled down the street to the Cass House Boy, am I glad I did Short version: Great service and terrific farm-to-table food

Long version: Generally, as a woman traveling alone, I’m accustomed to receiving poor service, even in nice restaurants I think there is a bias that goes with the assumption that women, especially older women, don’t tip well (I do; all my kids worked in food services growing up) At Cass House, my server was terrific–quick, helpful, giving recommendations when asked for them but not pushy She helped select the perfect wine as wellMy food was to-die-for delicious As a vegetarian, I sometimes struggle to find just the right menu item The Cass House menu had plenty of choices for me, and with my server’s suggestion, I decided on the roasted cauliflower Oh my goodness! It was perfectly cooked with toasted almonds and sesame seeds, plated in a pool of delicious yogurt and covered with a pomegranate vinaigrette that was out of this worldI seriously cannot wait to return–and I live hundreds of miles away Next trip up the Central Coast, though, I’ll be stopping at Cass House for sure

James Bostock

Overall an outstanding restaurant Attentive and knowledgeable waiters and just as good in the kitchenIt’s a prix-fix menu and as most of the 4 courses had 2 choices we pretty much tasted everything

We didn’t get any of the optional courses (sliced meat and also cheese) as unless you’re a professional eater you’ll be done after the 4th course for sureHighlights for us was the Melon appetizer (various melons with crackers and shaved feta), the fennel bread, and both dessertsNone of the courses disappointed and would highly recommend

Absolutely love this place! This hotel is perfect for self-sufficient travelers There’s no front desk–they just text you codes for the front door and your room I never expected how nice it would be after a long drive to just go straight to my room, rather than dealing with check-in

Beyond that, the place is gorgeous My room was spacious with excellent bedding and a fabulous shower & toiletries There’s a shared living room area that was very cozy We spent mornings sitting on the couch drinking coffee and listening to records What a great way to start the day! There’s also a nice shared wet bar area that has excellent coffee, very fancy teas, a bottle of complimentary wine, as well as some additional treats that popped up now and then What a great home base for our trip to SLO!

J.D. DAVIS II

Came to SLO for my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay at The Butler Hotel This was a new type of stay for us as there is no front desk, however once we walked in we immediately understood that this property was special and didn’t require one They email and text you the code to the front fore and the code to your room

Upon walking in we were shocked at how nice everything looked and the attention to detail with the design There was a bottle of wine and local treats on the bar, and cute little reading/sitting area, and the interior design was amazingAs for the room, we loved the tall ceilings, lighting, and bathroom design Everything just seemed to flow wellI would definitely recommend this place!

Megan Howarth

There’s a reason this place gets almost all 5 star reviews- it’s honestly perfect If there was a rooftop pool I’d want to move inIt’s definitely different

If you love the experience of staying at a hotel, this might not be for you If you want the feel of an AirBnB with the hotel touches, this is the place If you like great design, thoughtful touches but don’t want to interact with people, this is the placeThere is a contactless check-in, you simply punch in your special code The bar area is set up with complimentary wine in the afternoon and a nice continental breakfast spread in the morning (little Danishes that tasted so fresh, muffins, fruit, etc) There is a lounge area with beautiful seating, a record player with great albumsWe stayed in Room 4 and the bed was so comfortable The bathroom was clean and spacious Every detail is well thought outThe main area was a bit warm during the day with a large fan running, but our room was perfectly ACedWe took advantage of the bikes and cruised around the downtown area, all the way to Madonna Inn and to the SLOMA We also sat outside in the morning with our coffees, which you can prepare with the french presses set up in the kitchenI don’t have plans to be in SLO again, but if I did, I would 100% stay here againKelly was The Butler and so helpful with any questions we had Thanks Kelly!

Rooms are clean and nicely decoratedBathtub is hot and enjoyable at the end of a long foggy summer dayPeople serving at the reception and the bar were lovely and carefully working

The hotel is located right under the golf in a really quiet area next to the bay The view from the restaurant and bar is breathtaking

Chairlifts To Trails

Great location, great staff We’ve stayed multiple times and must say that this is a very family friendly and pleasing resort The only one thing I would change is thee restaurant hours

Being open for breakfast would be incredible, but I understand the current staffing issues that might prevent this from being possible Otherwise, all around it is a great and affordable family resort 😉

Hailey Jacobs

Upgraded from a standard room to bay view room and couldn’t be happier I love the birds and scenery around the location and the heated pool is AMAZING The pillows are awkward and hurt my neck but the mattress is great

Clean and comfortable room, nice decor and super helpful and kind front desk experience She was funny and so helpful in getting us a room we love Would definitely come back or recommend

Pat Cafaro

Our room was on the first floor, we had an ocean view but also of the public parking area The view was partially obstructed by parked cars and the car parked next to our balcony The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable

The staff was great and the breakfast for both days were goodIf we go back would definitely ask for a room on the second floor

Holly Randall

The good, the check in was welcoming The location is wonderful as well The bad, there is very limited parking

Our car scraped going in and coming out of the garage The rooms were advertised with an ocean view We didn’t get a ocean view Our view was of town The room is very dated Little details like baseboards and trim are overlooked and dirty The back of our bathroom door was very dirty One of the sinks in the bathroom was very cracked and damaged This was a treat for us on vacation as the room is very pricey The bed was very uncomfortable We both woke up with achy backs Breakfast doesn’t start till 8am which was also very disappointing We booked this in with the promise of a rooftop hot tub Unfortunately that has been removed and instead their was a fire pit Overall such a disappointment We definitely won’t return

Sloane Kaplan

We stayed 2 nights in room 202 and had such a delightful experience We took bubble baths together in the double jacuzzi tub, kept the balcony door open to hear the waves crashing just outside the room all night and slept very well in the firm but contouring bed Barb’s breakfast was hot and delicious (both quiche Lorraine and sausage breakfast burrito) and served with fresh fruit and pastry – arguably the best breakfast in town! Marci and Pilar were very friendly and down to earth hosts with great attention to detail

Cookies hung on the door handle each day were a nice touch

I’m here from Los Angeles- I was born and raised hereI use to walk along these sidewalks in Baywood as a child even went to the liquor store a little ways downI came home to clean out my deceased parents home before we put it on the market, too difficult for me to stay in the house

Our room had an awesome view, it was perfect We stayed in the Shell Beach room facing the bay The king bed was so comfortable, the bathroom included shampoo, conditioner body wash was a plusLiving room was spacious that had a fireplace and a small table for two with a patioTo top it off one day breakfast was next door at a Mexican restaurant (food was fresh and delicious) and the following day it was across the street at the coffee cafe At 5pm they offered wine, coffee, tea and snacks and outside the fire 🔥 pit is turned on with chairs as you watch the awesome sunsetI had a stressful emotional couple of days dealing with my parents home and coming back to a room to unwind and to sleep soundly -I thank you for making my stay so pleasant*fyi- always bring a warm sweater/jacket -it does get really cold regardless of the weather predictions

This was our 3rd stay at Baywood Inn–different style rooms each stay Loved just lounging in our “living room” watching the Bay and enjoying the cool, sometimes foggy air Liked saving money by getting a 5% discount for paying cash and another % by being seniors

Goodies in the lobby and in our room were wonderful We look forward to staying in other rooms in the future!

Excellent location for our needs with local charm, but not without flaws I read reviews and was expecting a very basic inn There are some cute touches, but the creature comforts are lacking for the pickier traveler

The bed really seems smaller than the advertised queenI have a queen and slept on a queen the following city The very firm tiny mattress was fine when I slept on my side – so more an issue of size not comfort I did bring some of my own extra plush blankets to ensure I was warm enough Pillows were subpar The shower had extremely low or close to zero hot water pressure, but the bath tile and sink appeared to be updated in the last decade I washed my hair in the sink with cold water We did visit the restaurant and they seemed to be challenged with not enough qualified staff Pancakes and eggs were good enough, but coffee was not to my liking Lobby coffee and tea were a nice touch, with a slightly better brew in the lobby I did get a text about free wine, but I was not able to enjoy it A pleasant surprise was the two-person hot tub which was awesome after hiking and biking for two dayswe did also get a kick out of the nightly frog serenades Some of the car engines could be heard early but the benefit of a single story was no audible hotel door slamming or heavy-footed neighbors Phoenix in the lobby was very friendly upon check-in

Took a short trip to SLO for a concert Booked a stay at the Apple Farm Inn Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprise how lovely the grounds of the surrounding area were

Upon checking in, we were given fresh cookies and tickets for free wine tasting in the Apple Farm Cellar They also offer coffee, tea and warm apple cider in the lobby after 5pm Although the buildings seem older the interiors of the rooms were upgraded with great thoughtfulness to comfort and convenience The the room was well situated and bed was very comfortable with crisp clean linens Although our room was close to the street, literally right off the highway, relatively little noise could be heard from inside our room In the morning we had breakfast at their restaurant The coffee was great and our breakfast was delicious! We will definitely plan to stay there on our next trip! They offer great rates as well Give Apple Farm Inn a try

We showed up on Thursday night with no reservation The hotel was pretty much sold out We had a very nice, helpful man named Steve trying to find us a room

Not only did he get us in, but our rooms were spectacular We were two couples and we wanted to stay one more night and we were able to keep our same rooms with the great juggling the hotel desk did to get us covered I love this place and will definitely come back again soon

Usually you can expect consistent accommodations with an embassy anywhere you book Very disappointed with this property Room was was rundown and dated

As we entered, the room smelled stale, the carpet had rips, popcorn ceiling was peeling Bathroom was tiny and didn’t feel clean Toilet has stains in bowl 2 nights at this hotel We made the most of the first night Returned to our room for the second night to go straight to bed and leave early A dog in a room nearby was barking – a small dog so it was a constant YAP! We called the front desk to report and all they could do was send security to investigate The front desk was barely apologetic and said there wasn’t anything they could do because of the pet policy It was as if they had a scripted response and confided the pet policy has only caused more trouble than good After an hour of trying to sleep through the yapping, I called and asked to be moved to another room The last thing I wanted to do at 11pm was pack up and relocate for the night They were a little ore sympathetic in person when we walked down to the front desk but you could tell it was an uncomfortable situation as they were not even permitted “by policy” to contact the guest via cell phone to let them know the dog they left in the room was barking and poor dog was upset So horrible We were relocated to the back of the hotel backing up to the freeway Guess the consistent freeway traffic buzz was less painful than the yapping dog Very disappointing

No issues during this stay! Room was well kept and clean Carpet appeared a bit older and was worn but I wouldn’t say as bad as other coastal hotel/motels nearbyBreakfast at Embassy Suites never disappoints

The omelet bar is always a treat! Warmed food is always replenished and fresh Lots of variety for all appetitesLounge and Atrium area has many live plants and is so beautiful just to sit and relax especially during cocktail hour

I appreciated the free hot breakfast and evening happy hour… so rare these days!Fitness center was sufficient, but uncomfortable if there’s more than one other person in thereRoom was comfortable enough, but I couldn’t figure out the thermostat so temperature was inconsistent Couch was oddly positioned so the chaise was right in front of the door; you have to open the door really wide so you can walk around the chaise to get in and then walk back around to close the door

Hotel is in a shopping center, so it’s close to food, everyday shopping necessities, and plenty of parkingThere’s a free (very slow) EV charger a few buildings down, if you need one I’d plug in early in the morning while I worked out/shower/breakfast and that would get me enough charge to do errands around town and some sightseeing nearby There’s a supercharger across the street at Madonna Inn if you need something fasterOverall I had a pleasant stay

We had reservations at a near by motel that was way below our standards so we called the courtyard and the manager was very accommodating and set us up right away The staff are all very nice There is a Starbucks inside the lobby

The rooms are clean and comfortable and again the staff are all so friendly Pool area is great as well

Adriana Berrios

Always feel welcomed atmosphere is great Love the fact that they had the pool man come right before 10 to make sure the pool was clean and to see what treatment needs to be done Room was clean the shower still had hair but that could have been washed down

The shampoo and conditioner I’m so pleased they had Paul Mitchell tea tree but the body wash was empty so i didn’t even use My main complaint is that the beds were very uncomfortable i didn’t get a good night’s sleep kept moving to re adjust That’s the main reason why we get a room for sleep I have stayed at multiple Marriott hotels and always comfortable

Nice place in a great location with a friendly, helpful staff The rooms are big and comfortable However it looks like the owners are neglecting routine maintenance, and cutting corners

Some things are in great shape, others are showing a lot of wear The breakfast buffet looks nice, but not as fresh as you would expect The good news is once these small flaws are you realize that this is a very nice place and worth staying at when you are in the area

Robert Sar

I do not recommend this place We were charged over $450 for a “suite” Here are some pictures from our stay

We tried to move hotels because our back door patio did not lock (Couldn’t find one on such short notice) The front desk gave us a broken broom handle to try to close the door, which did nothingThe room looked like it was under construction The shower did not have any water pressure, and poured water from the spout The walls were scratched up and the curtains we over sized and took up a ton of room on the floor We couldn’t open the curtains as the rods were bent because the curtains were too heavyThe tub was filthy and the room had a smell to it The bathroom door was dirty and did not close We found a dirty wash rag in the basket before we even walked inThe front desk told us management and maintenance were out for the weekend I tried contacting management several times after the fact, but my phone calls and e-mails have been ignoredSave yourself some money and your patience

After checking in, my wife and I noticed that the room had not been cleaned well The floor was dirty, and there was heavy dust on furniture, counters, and under furnitureThe second day we were there, by mid afternoon our room had not been cleaned, trash had not been removed, and no used towels taken nor fresh towels left

I checked at the front desk and was told by 2 of the clerks that cleaning would not be done during our stay If we want trash picked up, we must leave it outside our door The same for a change of towels – put them in a basket and take them outside the door We had not been told that during check-in We have stayed at other motels during the pandemic that continue to offer full service I told the front desk that we would follow their guidelines, but we needed towels for that night and trash picked up They said okay After 8 pm, the trash still hadn’t been picked up, and no fresh towels had been brought I had to go to the front desk and ask again About 9 pm those matters were attended to During the 5 days we were there, front desk personnel didn’t even ask me if my towel service and trash removal were being handled The 3rd morning of our stay, the motel had run out of hot water at 8:30 am I had to wait to use the shower The next morning at 8 am there was barely enough hot water Our room was sufficiently large and had most common amenities, except it didn’t have a microwave
