Room was clean and whole hotel is quaint with the old riverboat style Love the old phone booths in one hallway! They serve a really good breakfast in a nice dining room and you get a coupon with your room rental for $5 off whatever you order from the breakfast menu or a free continental breakfast Hotel has a nice bar

Really fun place to stay in a cute river town

Quaint, well maintained and quite interesting in the old hotel decor This will take you back to a bygone era Check in was smooth, with staff being pleasant, helpful and approachable

This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel! The only negatives was (1) no refrigerator/microwave and (2) the room was on the small side for a king bed But, as it was only myself staying the night, quite nice and comfortable Will definitely be back if only to try the Gun Room Restaurant The Riverview Bar & Grill did NOT disappoint and the meal was great (see my review there) Next time will book one of the rooms with a balcony and sit there watching the river flow by

The hotel was historic, so it has that going for it, antiques in the rooms is a nice touch I noticed that if there were a fire I would have a three st I ry drop to cement with no fire escape unless I went in the hall and down to the next hall The mattress was higher at the foot than the head, we turned it

The mattress was way too soft to sleep in, no support at all The staff was friendly I rate it 3 out of 5

We stay at Hampton Inn regularly This is the cleanest and best run hotel we’ve been in for a long time I typically have issues using the digital key everywhere we go, but not here! It loaded properly and worked consistently, on the room door and the exterior door

Facility was very clean Breakfast was great Staff was super friendly! Fantastic stay all around!

Connie

Always love staying at the Hilton family brand of hotels The staff was super sweet and helpful Rooms were clean and quiet

I usually take a lot more photos but was there on business and had very little time to snatch photos Can’t say enough how much I always love the free 24/7 hot coffee available in the lobby at Hampton Inn’s, Life saver! I appreciate that they always have hot options to eat for breakfast as well as some to-go items, waffles, and other cold breakfast items As far as location it really is in the middle of nowhere Small little town right on the border of OH & WV Beautiful scenery, lots of lush greenery, right next to the OH river Not many places to eat out or hang out though

We had been driving for 14 hours straight from South Daytona We were extremely tired and not anticipated stopping for the night in Marietta OH as were we only 4 hours from our home in Vermilion OH The weather was rainy with a lot of fog and it just was not safe to be on the road

We were exhausted and irritable We searched for a Hampton and found this location in Marietta When I called for availability, a very nice and extremely friendly young man’s voice gave us the information we needed We arrived and Patrick was above and beyond courteous and accommodating He applied our AARP discount and managed to find my Hilton Honors information, after we were already checked in and settled in our room, and made sure points were applied for our stay Patrick gave us just what our weary and tired senior hearts needed in his more than welcoming front desk customer serviceThe next morning we enjoyed a wonderful hot breakfast of western omelets, waffles, assorted pastries and bagels, cereals and oatmeal along fresh fruit salad prepared and arranged y a very nice man named Ronnie The dining area felt warm and very comfortableThe past few years of the pandemic has affected many folks working in the service industry, both in attitude and work ethic We really appreciated how thoughtful and pleasant Patrick and Ronnie were treating as though we were guests in their homes They obviously love working at the Hampton Inn in Marietta and shows in their attitudes toward their jobs and we want to give them a big thanks for everything they do

THE OFFICE CLOSES AT 10PM If you’re going to arrive after 10pm the office can accommodate that, but you must call during office hours and request it Prior reviews I read on here saved me from making this snafu

Room was clean and lightly lemon scented Microwave and fridge available Comfy temperature Nice warm shower but it’s the smaller square kind The combo shampoo/conditioner was in a packet that’s super hard to open once you’re actually showering Tear it open with dry hands! Wifi (unprotected) available Overall, better than expected for a mom and pop motel Beds are size full and not queen Lots of history here with scuff marks all around the room Perfectly adequate and functional though I was disappointed the towels were not fluffy Pillows were very fluffy Room 31 has a pretty blue wall and the 3 is smaller than the 1 on the door which made my husband and I laugh

You get what you pay for The location is incorrect online It is not in the “downtown” area

The bar in photos is permanently closed, as is the hot breakfast Breakfast instead is a Jimmy dean biscuit that you have to microwaveThe rooms have a must smell and I think it came from the ac unit Otherwise the room was fine in my case No bed bugs, no issues There is no breakfast place around open before 7am, except for Starbucks which makes it so you basically have to use the breakfast in the hotel if you are strapped for time In my opinion, I would skip this place all together

Lawrence Taylor

After reading the reviews I was torn, but I decided to book 2 nights, while passing throughThe problem is this property is in desperate need of an update!!!First off, the property is not downtown as shown on the WYNDHAM WEBSITE! That’s NOT Google maps, that’s how it is shown on the WYNDHAM appI don’t get why Wyndham is letting this property flounder? It’s right off the interstate, it has the potential for a decent restaurant and it does have a bar! It just sorely needs updating!!!But everyone I dealt with on the staff was friendly and attentive! My first room WAS clean, but the AC did not work

So when I brought it to the attention of the front desk they promptly gave me another room, with a working AC, which was ALSO clean! The bed was comfortable by my standards Comfort is subjective so it’s hard to gauge that for other people But thank God it wasn’t a rock hard bed like sleeping on a slab of marble like so many other hotels beds are nowI slept well both nightsSo the bottom line is, if you get a good rate, I would definitely stay here! The property is clean but in desperate need of an update as I mentioned beforeCome on Wyndham!!

A little over the top for me The room was great, people nice, & very comfortableBreakfast was decent but I expected more for the price

Better then having an option of bagels or cold cereal but at least a buffet style breakfast would have been betterIt had a nice size refrigerator that was nice and enjoyed having real plates and a coffee cup in the room For just one night the cooktop, kitchen sink, and dishwasher was a bit muchWe got there late and left early so I can’t tell you if there is more Overall it was a great stay

Mollie Halko-Smeker

What a wonderful hotel! After driving all day with a toddler it was the perfect place to rest We had requested the 2 room suite and it exceeded our expectations The bed was comfortable and the pack n play had sheets and a coverlet

The kitchenette had everything you could need Very clean and very quiet There are so many amenities but we weren’t there long enough to take advantage of them all

Psmith smith

The reason I gave a three star review was because of the followingOkay so it was a special day for me and my new wife, she was 27 weeks pregnant at the time and more then anything wanted a jet or soaker tub to help with her aches and pains So I called the hotel and they told me that the kind deluxe room was the one that had a soak/jet tub, but it was only after paying that I was told there was no tub

I was still okay with this because they had an indoor pool, but when we got into the pool it was ice cold The breakfast was not worth the price of the room and the the TV was small and placed on the wall making it hard to watchNow with all of this being said the staff was friendly and kind although miss informed as too what was included in the room we got I asked for flower pedals on the bed and the came through and folded two towels to looks like swans kissing, and with that plus the fact the room was clean are the only reasons this hotel got three starsYou let down my wife on a special day and I wish that hadn’t happened

I was greatly disappointed From arrival, no one at the front desk to check us in, the rooms need updating Our bedding was ripe towels are old

Extremely loud in halls ways when trying to sleepI was most disappointed and shocked when I went down for breakfast and watching the employee put the pasties in with NO gloves and told everyone my hands are clean! After she had been touching the tray the bin to open the pasties and put her bare hands on the pasties, during the pandemic! Horrified, left and did not EAT thereI personally will not return or recommend this hotel

Not bad for a dirt cheap hotel if you go in expecting the Ritz when you only paid $50 bucks for the room, you may be disappointedThe goodroom was generally clean and is low priced

Bed was very comfortableThe badContinental breakfast were things like wrapped granola bars TV channels were limited One of the towels looked like it should be retired Minor small stain on outside of bedspread The microwave did look kind of icky AC didn’t work as well as it should haveBut again, what do you expect for this price? If I am needing one night only, I’d stay again If I were staying longer, I would probably look at some other options

What’s the point

You definitely get what you pay for Shower curtain had mold Sheets had stains and hair on them

Luckily no bed bugs in my room but I can’t guarantee any other room wouldn’t have them Staff wasn’t that friendly, it’s pretty dusty, and the lobby is pretty junky Fridge smells real weird The cleanest thing in my room was the top sheet so I had to just sleep on top, but if you’re not a hypochondriac you should be fine

Alexia Way

If I could give negative stars, I wouldI booked two rooms at this hotel, one for my mother and father in law and the other for my husbands grandmother so we could visit familyroom one: The fridge didn’t work

My in-laws both have diabetes and need the fridge too work for their insulin I called ahead to make sure that it was working, was told it was, and when they got there it did not work There was no matt in the bottom of the shower, which caused them too nearly hurt themselves On day two of the stay the key card stopped working and when brough to the owners attention he said “oh I am sorry, I had you in for one night” their reservation clearly said 3 nights they gave them an issue with parking There was an issue with getting clean towels When they went down for their own clean towels they made them throw them into the laundry instead of taking it from them and gave issue No housekeeping was done at all, was told that the stay was for too long and that it didn’t qualify for housekeeping The room smelled strongly of mold and mildew and when brought too the owners attention he refused to rectify itRoom two: The fridge in this room worked but was leaking everywhere; owner once again refused to fix the issue This room also had no shower matt and this caused my husbands grandmother too hurt herself and now there is a bruise on her leg (will be contacting corporate for that) Her key card didn’t work on day one, gave issue with fixing itThese were both supposed to be handicap friendly units and they clearly were not We were there visiting family and they dreaded having to go back to the hotel Everything was of course non-refundable or else we would have cancelled and booked somewhere else

I gave a 4 star because of efforts the owner is making The hotel is under going renovations, it’s far from being finished, and the hot tub we were so looking forward to using isn’t open yet After the owner saw are disappointment, he upgraded our room to a suite that had been renovated

After spending 8 hours on our motorcycles, being able to relax in a “living room” was a pleasure When everything is done, this place will be amazing!

Jason Kasper

Awful

It’s going through renovations and it needs it! The restrooms by the lobby are atrocious!!! There are vagrants and addicts hovering around in the lobby and outside the entrance I asked the front desk if there was long term efficiency accomodations, because the junkies hanging around knew the names of the front desk people, bumming cigarettes from them The two positives I can say is the pool area is beautiful and with a little TLC it will be back to it’s former glory The second is Shelly at the front desk She’s sweet, hard working conscientious and very personable She is the bright spot in an otherwise black hole

James Kent

The room was filthy Wet stains on the chair, long hairs Just a dated and run down hotel

Addicts roaming the halls stoned out of their minds Rude at the front desk Not safe environment for a family My wife and I have stayed in some not quite great hotels over the years, but this is by far the worst one we have ever walked into We observed all the above mentioned problems in the 15 minutes we were there, before we checked out Don’t waste your time on this dump

We got stuck unexpectedly due to car trouble- with our 2 children (11& 14) and our dog 😖😩😭 It was a nightmare- until we arrived here The rooms were clean and fresh- the staff was soooo sweet! The other guests are considerate of one another, as the hotel is pet friendly

I’ve stayed in many pet friendly hotels- across the country- up and down both coasts and in between… this place was by far, miles ahead of any other establishment I’ve been to I mean seriously clean and super inexpensive- (not to be confused with cheap) I will recommend to everyone and if I could have given them 10 stars I would have!!

Matt Coddington

Hotel is nice Newer buildingCheck-in was easy

Unfortunately, not a single ice machine was in working order And also unfortunate that the cleaning crew did not notice wet gross trash in the ice bucket that was in our room Attention to detail is crucial!More of a one-off occurrence, but it was unpleasant no less

Joe Corra

I’ve stayed at this hotel previously, and it’s fine–the building is new, the rooms are modern and clean However, on my most recent stay it was obvious the place was under new management As is becoming sadly common among mid-range hotels, new owner-operators are hostile to the concept of customer service

Don’t expect a smile, a greeting, an explanation of the hotel’s amenities, or even directions to your room from the desk staff (the staff seem to be comprised solely of the proprietors’ family, who also appear to be living in the hotel) During check-in, the proprietors’ interaction with me was limited to “what’s your name”, “give me your ID”, and “sign there”, after which he wordlessly slapped a room key on the counter and walked away I’ve never been arrested, but I imagine this might be just a step above the prison intake processThere are some signs that basic property maintenance is being neglected; for instance, large clumps of vegetation sprout from the gutters, suggesting they haven’t been cleaned in ages Ominously, management has taped a piece of paper on the door which reads, “WE HAVE WEEKLY RATES” I choose to stay at places like the Sleep Inn precisely because it’s not the type of hotel that would attract a clientele looking for “weekly rates”; however, the owner apparently has different plans It’s a shame

Where to start, traveled from out of state to attend dog shows in the area, had two rooms booked in advance for myself, dog handler I did notify at that time, I would be bringing chihuahuas, was told they are pet friendly, no mention of any additional pet fees Arrived after 10pm Friday night, I was greeted by men at the lobby door that smelled strongly of alcohol, insisted on grabbing my luggage, after I repeatedly stated I did not need any help, proceeded to ask my plans for the night

Very uncomfortable for a woman traveling alone Next, the woman at the front desk informed me, I would have to pay an additional $25 per night/ per pet fee She did say she would allow me to slide on one dog, since I was not informed about this in advance I paid the bill for both rooms & including pet fees When I got to my room the door would not lock from the outside, only the inside latch My TV would not work, there were cigarette burn marks on my bed, it’s listed as a smoke free facility It just continued to be problems throughout the remaining stay, the door now wouldn’t open with the key card And another guest stated she had the same problem My handler arrived, was put in the room next to me, room 119 Her TV also didn’t work, her room had a serious cockroach problem We then decided to read reviews, (huge error on my part) I only looked at the photos when booking, which showed a pool & a gym, (they had neither), appeared very clean We found complaints about cockroaches from 4 months prior! We checked out at 7am Sunday, we would have stayed in our vehicles over staying at this location, if not for having the dogs with us At check out, I notified the front desk of the cockroach problem, have several photos, she wanted to argue that we should have said something sooner But, what good would that have done?We were several hours from home, decided just to sleep with the lights on, in hopes of keeping the cockroaches away Then they decided to charge my card the additional fee for the dog she originally said I could slide on, I believe, because I complained!

I am not sure what some of these people are expecting who give this motel such a poor rating For the past few years, this has been my go to choice of lodging when I travel to Parkersburg for work Every time my rooms have been spotless, the beds very comfortable, the AC and fridge work perfectly with always fresh towels/soap

They even have toothpaste downstairs if you forget yours The staff have always been kind and accommodating to me, even during COVID times This is not the Ritz Carlton, it is a super 8 For being a motel I give it a 5/5 every time

Bunni Rhea

Upon arrival we found chip crumbs in our bed and upon leaving while packing the car watched a maid brush our sheets off and make the best without cleaning anything for the next guest Sink was busted the wall was busted and the dresser was missing a drawer only good think about the place is the sweet old lady that checked me out in the morning

This place has the best Wi-Fi on the planet!! (This is/was kind of a joke because I maintain the wi-fi; but it’s nice to see some other comments about decent wi-fi) As far as the guy commenting about overnight stays, this is an intractable problem — with only 21 sites, the owner can’t very well schedule somebody 5 months ahead, and then be faced with a situation of having to turn away LONG TERM guests because some spot is held so far in advance The comment doesn’t appreciate the logistics of space allocation

Kevin Haught

Great location Owner is super nice and friendly Very clean and neatly kept campground

Great spots with full hookups Fishing just a few yards away from any of the spots Quite area Close to (approximately 3 miles) Marietta and all the shopping areas Lots of pizza shops to be deliveredSmitty’s Pizza our personal favoriteWe hope you have the opportunity to enjoy the relaxing spaces

Sara Craig

Called here to get advanced booking for a trip for my son’s travel ball team Wanted to book a campsite, in advance, for mid- July and was turned away because they have “reoccurring customers” that they want to save sites for When I asked when I should call, mind you, it’s February, I was told to call back the week before arrival

Given the competitiveness of campgrounds now-a-days, I’m not going to risk, not having advanced plans Told the lady that we would look for somewhere else to go So unless you are a long term, or reoccurring customer, don’t attempt to book just for a weekend

They had the option between chicken & steak but 3x more chicken then steakI’m sure my company paid premium prices for these meals for them to skimp outEven tho the portions are smaller then a silver dollar the food quality was amazing If they would have served a 6oz portion I would rate it 10 stars out of 5 However with the very small amount of food which was not enough to go around I only give this place a 3 star & I think that is generous

Super cool boutique hotel that has history mixed with modern updates! We stayed in the Ward room for a quick overnight stop but would love to come back and explore more and visit some local spots Nice friendly town and lovely hotel Clean room, nicely decorated and furnished

It also had a nice common area with a stocked coffee/snack bar! Highy recorecommended!

I wish I could review the hotel, but we were unable to stay due to a problem with their check in process Our two night reservation started on a Sunday, when no one is staffed We did not receive remote check in instructions and spent hours on hold with our 3rd party travel sight, with no resolution

I’m sure it’s a lovely hotel, but do wish they would remove their listing from third party booking sites since there is incompatibility with pre check in communications – looking at other reviews, I see someone else had a similar experience

I was in for 1 night and I forgot my $30 hat and a wallet that had more then $150 inside of it They were super considerate to give us a call and to tell us that we’ve left $200 dollars worth of belongings The supper generous staff and that fast response time is impeccable

The bed was super comfy and the staff made it better Special shout out to the house keeping staff for their honesty-Joshua Michael

Recently stayed here for a few days & it was ok For sure better than Economy Inn, but from now on I’d shoot for Travelodge before hereCouple things I liked about this place was the friendly staff at the desk, really liked that their housekeeping doesn’t come by every morning banging on the door (not a morning person at all & very heavy sleeper) And my room was on the 2nd floor I liked standing outside on deck chillin

Now what I didn’t like was the bathtub was more then just a little bit dirt & could use better lighting in the rooms So yeah I wouldn’t mind staying here again, but I recommend trying Travelodge before here

The ONLY good thing about this place was the people and the heater They were friendly and kind However, the hotel was not

The phone didnt work, the tv didnt work, the carpets were filthy, the tub was gross and the bed covering looked disgusting The final straw was THE BEDBUGS!! We took our family and left The front desk was helpful and kind and we quickly got a full refund I would not recommend using this hotel until they get their stuff together and fix that place

This was literally the best hotel experience I’ve ever had I have traveled extensively and this hotel is the perfect blend of bed and breakfast treatment with a boutique hotel feel You can tell the staff love and are proud of their town and heritage

The rooms are clean, the brunch was delicious and every staff member we interacted with was very helpful The room was clean and comfortable We will be back

The overall friendliness of the daytime staff was great today But we have had several other issues First, the hotel only took $4 off of the price for block rates for the rooms

Then, half of my wedding party was unable to book for the block rates I called 4 times before someone finally fixed that issue Today, however, we came in as a large wedding party, and we asked ahead of time if we would have space to socialize, they assured us we would have plenty of space Now, at 11:00 at night, they kicked our party off the patio, and they told us to go inside to the atrium, where we would then disturb all of the other guests because it’s open in the center to floors 3-5 We were not disrespectful or loud The gentlemen on duty used profane language while speaking to us, and was generally disrespectful when we were trying to resolve the problem For what they charge for this place, it is not worth it Save your money and go to the chains down the street that are more than happy to accommodate us We really wanted to support a historic, local business and our needs were absolutely not met

Beautifully maintained Our room was cozy and we enjoyed the extra care put into our stay Extras that we appreciated: robes in our room; Keurig for coffee, tea or hot chocolate with real creamer; hand held make-up mirror; and a floor fan forsleeping! Kyle was very attentive as our bartender

Make sure you make reservations if you are going to dine at the hotel The outdoor patio and fire pit were an added bonus Just a great place to relax, eat, and sleep
