Management is great and the rooms are typical My breakfast experience was enough for me to check out early and go somewhere else I had stayed at this location many many nights with no issues but the staff pointed me out specifically for not having a mask on with 4 other guests in the area without their mask so just be far with everyone across the board

The woman at the front desk, Jasmin, has been awesome She has helped me with even some of my strange requestsThe hotel has an interesting layout that’s unlike most hotels I’ve been to

There’s an upper enclosed patio surrounded by rooms and it’s a pleasant area to get away from your room The woman preparing breakfast is very friendly every morning and everything stayed well-stocked for my entire 2-week stay

Wonderful on every level A kind and caring staff Great bar in the lobby

Cozy rooms and great prices The staff really makes the experience the best They really want to make sure you are having a good time, not just in the hotel but when you leave as well They always welcome you back and wish you a good day or night when you go out Will definitely come back

Joanne Carusi

The hotel is very pretty and has held onto the original charm The staff is also very kind! The room was furnished nicely but was on the smaller side The door that connected our room with the one next door had a 2+ inch gap at the bottom and you could see into the next room, we stuffed a blanket under it to keep out the excess noise and from the people staying in the room from seeing into our space

The walls are thin so both our neighbors chatting sounded like people were in the room with us The bathroom was tiny and not practical at all There was no bathroom counter space as the bowl sink took up almost all the room and there were no hooks anywhere to hang your towels so we ended up grabbing hangers from the closet and hanging our towels from the shower curtain, otherwise our towels never dried on the shelf provided The TV barely worked and was glitchy every time we tried to use it The neighborhood is super convenient with delicious restaurants and coffee all around but it’s not super safe and very dirty If your looking for a quiet/private stay and for your room to be more then just aesthetically pleasing then this is not the place for you The price is too high for what is offered here I wouldn’t stay again unless it was a very short stay and/or the price was decreased by at least 1/3

This is such a charming hotel! I would definitely stay here again! As others mentioned, there is no elevator or A/C but it’s an older historic building so that’s understandable We actually enjoyed being able to open the windows and let in the fresh Berkeley air Parking was $15 overnight which is reasonable for the area

If you want a cookie cutter room you should stay at the Hyatt in Emeryville, if you want a cute, European-style hotel close to campus this is the perfect place!

Mark Chrystal

I traveled 2250 miles from Pittsburgh to help my son move out of the nearby dorms, only to arrive as agreed in my reservation to find that the doors were chained shut They took my reservation for a 2-night stay, but there was no access to the hotel and nobody would answer a phone call or email I have never had this experience at a hotel before

I was pretty amazed

Menu Mystique

The building is old and dilapidated It’s dark and depressing inside, feels like my Grandmother’s attic I don’t like this place, it feels unhealthy and someone would certainly do better renting either a modern room that’s has simple, common amenities OR, if one prefers something less corporate (as I assume some readers of this review might be hoping for), there are many other options close by which will certainly be more enjoyable

Additionally, if you own a car, this place isn’t for you The parking lot is a joke, too tight, too small, trying to squeeze every space they can make in order to maximize revenue by charging ridiculously high prices for parking There is a kitchen downstairs but please be aware that it’s old, not up to modern standards and is overall a health risk

The WC Marriott is a professional, clean, modern, and respectful establishment Other than the expenses for parking and breakfast, which are slightly annoying, this remains a hotel that goes above and beyond to care for their guestsI appreciate their attention to detail and helpful front desk attitude

Great, useful, cost-saving, and technologically advanced App, too!

Garrett Tisdale

When I checked in the front desk gave me a key to a room that was already occupied I walked right into the room of someone who had checked in just a couple hours prior The individual in the room was quite upset and I was surprised to say the least

After checking into the correct room I listened to a dog that was a few rooms down bark for a couple hours continuously Every evening when I got back to the room for 4 nights straight I could hear the same dog barking for an hour or two You must use valet parking which isn’t a big issue at all except for my spare tire that was missing one morning Not sure if the valet staff was involved in taking it or if someone snuck in their parking garage and stole it I heard from multiple other guests that it is common in the area for individuals to have their spare tires stolen when valet parked People never notice the tire missing until they need it I just happened to notice that mine was missing while opening the trunk of my vehicle Make sure you check everyday to see if it has been stolen if you stay here The location is nice but overall I would NOT recommend this hotel

D W

Nice people, The bartender guy was high end, nice guy! limited food options if your staying for more than a day, they serve mostly the same breakfast/dinner options and only a jack in the box in walking distance Room was clean and comfortable, but the lighting was dim, no overhead light Complimentary miniatures where basic

We have noticed there are huge policy differences between Marriott propertiesThis property is surrounded by multiple high end car lots but little else

Friendly room service and breakfast teamNice breakfast selection, good pool and basketball courtThe front desk was not professional at all, we stayed there 2 weeks, didn’t get a nice room, didn’t get an upgrade promised, didn’t get a room changed that was promised

they never checked the pool area which got out of control 3 times during out stay

JJ

Rooms stink, bad Staff will not accommodate you when you request to move because, “smell isn’t a good reason for a move or refund We’ll spray it

” Internet is horrible, only works half the time, neighbors pound on your door, whole having a domestic incident, and staff does not care I spend 11 months a year on the road, never staying at a Hyatt again

Matthias Silver

First off

when you pull in, there are no signs to direct you to the front desk, so if you pull in after the doors are locked it is hard to find it Second, when I asked the security guard in the parking lot where the office was he responded “No” That’s all, just no then finally, I find the front desk and ask about a room, to which I got no response, just a glaze-eyed stare from the seemingly stoned desk clerk if you have to ask no, I will not return

Great location Beautiful setting Staff is SO nice that it’s almost impossible to say enough about how great they are!Only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of the fixtures and furnishings are looking a bit down at the heels and that’s not quite appropriate

Time for a bit of a refreshMy bathroom shower was giant and fancy but I couldn’t get the water quite hit enough no matter how much I fiddled with that Grohe temp setting

Juliana Schroeder

I had a truly horrific experience The room cost more than $800 and there was just one issue after another The worst was that there was a 3 hour wait to get a crib, which was set up so that it folded halfway through the night and almost killed my baby

I was calling customer service for hours and when they finally answered they said “oh sorry, we were busy” Busy at midnight? That’s a ridiculous lie, they just didn’t have any manning the desk Later on, the woman at the front desk had no idea about any of the events going on My husband left his phone at the pool and then they refused to let him get it back after the pool area closed He literally didn’t have a phone all night long until I went in and negotiated with them in the morning Then housekeeping came by at 7 am and knocked loudly on the door for like 5 minutes The wake up call we definitely didn’t need I can say without a doubt that this was one of the worst hotels I’ve been to in my life

Kerry Wilson

We really enjoyed our escape to the gorgeous Claremont The building has been beautifully updated with modern decor and features, yet it maintains historic elements and charm The hotel’s location on the edge of Berkeley allows for a quiet getaway, yet it’s a short, safe walk from the shops and restaurants of College Avenue

Highly recommend upgrading to a room with a view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge

Stayed here three nights while visiting the Bay Area with family of five (children ages 6-10) One of the nicer hotels we have stayed in and seems like it is new or has been remodeled recently Room was clean and spacious

Breakfast was always fantastic Valet parking is $30/day but that is to be expected when visiting the city Short walk across the street to the BART stop if you want to take the train into the city Great stay overall and we would definitely book here again!

Kirstin Rosales

Rose checked us in and she was personable and provided speedy and great customer service The suite rooms were clean and spacious along with a vast array of breakfast items our family could enjoy The only thing that was disappointing was the indoor pool was down for maintenance which is partly why we booked this hotel

It would have been nice to have been told when booking the hotel or checking in that one of the amenities was down I also wish that they provided regular coffee pods (we only had tea and hot cocoa), extra blankets and pillows in the rooms for the pull out sofa Otherwise, we will probably be back!

Erich Barischoff

Older hotel with actually a great charm to it, and clean! Second floor hall overlooks the Lobby / Diner The room is spacious with a drawing room up front 60″ flat-screen, sleeper sofa and work area in the drawing room

Separate work area and television in the bedroom Comfy bed and pillows Nice large bathroom plus fridge and micro Not bad!

PROS:+ Hotel & room look fresh and newly renovated+ Staff was overall friendly and helpful+ Mina (I think that was his name) at the Front Desk was wonderful at asking how the stay was He was professional, classy, and approachable I was amazed how unafraid he was to ask how the stay was 1-10

Hotel workers need to ask this more often! He deserves a raise :)CONS:- Corner suite can be a bit noisy from the Bart, didn’t bother me but can bother light sleepers- Location isn’t exactly walking distance from any restaurants, bars, or groceries- Must pay for parking

Tiara Littleton

Thank you, Mina, for the outstanding customer service from the time I arrived to the time I checked out The hotel was spotless, parking is a little unnecessarily priced, but there is street parking, the continental breakfast was on par, especially for an athlete like myself I like the various options they have available! I definitely look forward to staying here every time I come to the Bay

Tim Riener

This place is just on the outskirts of downtown Walnut Creek But it is also very close to BART All of which means it’s a good place to stay and easy to get to

As Marriotts go it’s about par for the course in terms of cost and quality The parking situation is a little bit dicey, and may have to rely on valet parking Still, on the whole would call this place a good value for the money

The Inn at Benicia Bay is a gem, and we can’t wait to come back We got married in Benicia in June 2022, and all of the bridesmaids + me and my now-husband stayed at the Inn at Benicia Bay We did all of our wedding preparations at the Inn, and held a farewell breakfast in the beautiful courtyard the day after the wedding

From the day we wandered in and met Tracee 10 months before the wedding, we’ve had an incredible experience Tracee is so kind, attentive, and communicative, and even invited us to visit the inn the week before the wedding so we could walk through the rooms and talk through details On the wedding weekend, Michael was manning the inn, and he was incredible Like Tracee, he was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, and went way above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay The rooms themselves were beautiful, the courtyard was gorgeous, and the breakfast from the Italian bakery/restaurant were incredible We can’t wait to come back!

Philip York

We had an amazing time at our recent visit at the Inn at Benicia Bay The staff were friendly and extremely helpful The Cafe served up amazing food and drinks

Breakfast was a nice touch to our stay One of the things that really impressed us was the grounds themselves Beautiful inside and out and they have really been able to create a peaceful vibe Will definitely go back for another stay

Cheryl Gourley

The area is beautiful and Tracee and Dennis are so welcoming that you will feel like family! The Italian bistro is so authentic and the coffee is absolutely perfect I love the style of the themed rooms, lofted ceilings, hand-crafted soap, and sunny patios everywhere Not to mention the most important part: a super comfortable extra large bed

This is a great idyllic inn and is located right downtown and by the harbor so you don’t have to drive I have come over and over and still look forward to the stay I would love to have a family reunion here next year It looks like it could be a great venue as well

The pool is small but still really nice The rooms are spacious and have full size refrigerator and microwave which is nice for long stays I recommend this place and would stay here again

Lena Sinclair

I have stayed here twice because they allow me to bring my German shepherd dog The rooms are spacious and have a small kitchenette- stovetop burners, full fridge w/ice maker, dishwasherBreakfast is decent (warming dish style)

Location is a few minutes from the freeway in a nice area where you see wild turkey roamingPet rooms do have a slight smell- it is the nature of bringing a pet along I suppose But not terrible Overall rooms are clean

Laurie Knickelbein

Breakfast was the WORST! The kitchen staff was rude and the food horrific Boxes to take food to go – are reserved for other employees who load up with breakfast and lunch for the day When a customer asks for a box they say they are out- peak inside the open kitchen door and there are stacks

The food is greasy, fresh fruit- is intermittently put out – if you demand it – only then to they magically find it and bring it out- Advertising breakfast included is a real stretch!

I started 4 nights and loved it The suites are huge and the whole hotel is new and modern Lots of tech in the rooms ( automatic blinds, card activated lights, multiple TVs)

The breakfast is nice but I wish they would change it up a few times a week Tastes great though The front desk service team is very helpful and kind The overnight parking rate is very expensive but we didn’t have a car so didn’t impact me this time The shower was phenomenal Two independent shower heads! The kitchenette is cute and the included pots and dishes were clean

Prachi Bengeri

I had a wonderful stay at the Residence Inn Berkeley All the front desk staff was very courteous and kind Due to my flight schedule, I needed an early check in and late check out, both of these requests were promptly honored

The rooms are spacious and comfortable Breakfast was great The location of this hotel is perfect! So many good restaurants around, walkable to UC Berkeley, steps from the BART station and my room had a gorgeous view of the bay The only slight con is that being in the middle of downtown, you’ll hear a lot of traffic and emergency vehicle noise Other than that, a fabulous stay I would certainly stay here again

The location… Amazing! The room with view is a 10 Finally a great hotel in Berkeley

Newly renovated, unlike some Garden Inns, this hotel has truly upscale accommodations I had a splendid stay until I went down for breakfast, finding a breakfast policy with absolutely no continental option for your $10 credit I had unknowingly walked in and acknowledged my credit at check in, declining the points add back offered

This was an annual Honors stay offered for Diamond members, the only redemption to this story If I had paid for this room I would be much more feisty 😇

Very good hotel for the price point and very conveniently located in Emeryville close to the Bay Bridge and Oakland Inside, it’s quiet, clean and most importantly, the beds are very comfortable! The neighborhood is safe with good shopping very close The downside is the property is aging and is showing signs of wear

Good maintenance is trying to keep up, but there are still flaws that will only be corrected with a major rehab No safe in the room and aging furniture Water pressure so-so $20 breakfast buffet that was not much better than what you’d see for free in other properties, so the dining room was empty at breakfast time with hot trays full standing for who knows how long But despite those problems, I would stay again It’s a good base to explore SF or the rest of the Bay Area and not too expensive That’s why I give four stars

The location is very convenient and the hotel is nice in appearance The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were cleanPlease note that you do have to pay $20 a day for parking which though I did notice that when we made the reservation, I thought that was a lot just to park

In my opinion, it should be free for choosing to stay there The breakfast was good but again, over priced They don’t have a pool but I was okay because I looked forward to the hot tub which was sadly closed when we were staying there So lots of plus’s and minuses but the location was worth it for our travel plans

Ryan Privee (Paranormal Adventures)

Nice clean historic hotel Nobody was around when I arrived around 4:30pm which was odd but the staff left a key and note (it was a weekday) I stayed in the “Ghost Adventures” room Wild Peony

They obviously exaggerated how “scary” this place is as it wasn’t scary at all and I slept comfortably I will say some of the spirit voices I got weren’t exactly friendly, I heard some “will you leave/go?” But just grouchy spirits, nothing malevolent They were active lighting up paranormal equipment in an intelligent manner so I do recommend this location to paranormal enthusiasts, but if you aren’t into ghost hunting you have nothing to fear as you probably won’t experience anything if you aren’t trying to interact It’s a great location near the water, restaurants and shops There’s a nice public garden across the street and the food in the restaurant under the hotel is quite good The staff at the restaurant have ghost stories too

its me

This place is really old and kind of funky but that’s the whole point of staying there I mean it’s really old the building’s probably from 1911 or something I heard it was haunted when I went to a restaurant nearby to eat but I really felt a great vibe when I walked into my room and I had a great time in the city of Benicia everybody was so friendly I would definitely go back in fact I can’t wait to go back

So far I’ve been here one hour on a four night stay and already regretting being hereI’ve had to park my own vehicleI’ve had to bring my own bags up to my room

The bottle of wine I preordered to be in the room was not there One they overlooked this, second they blamed me for not selecting a certain brand after they finally found my request (later I discovered that there’s only one choice of this type of wine offered here)I’m use to staying in places that this isn’t ever a issue or concern I usually tip out a $100 before I get to my room If there’s a question they call and ask like the wine Not just ignore the special request all togetherStaff have been friendly and the food has been good This is nice at a restaurant but with the previous mentioned issues they fall short of a claimed 4 star hotelStart at the bottom here I guess, everything will be a bonus from here on outUpdate; The hotel did send a complimentary bottle of wine with a nice card The wife was happy about the wine and I appreciated the thought and effort of the card Thus a star addedWhat was not mentioned was that our suite overlooking the beautiful courtyard was subject to hosting events I had to keep the blinds and windows closed for any privacy which is not what I wanted in sunny California, and did nothing for the noise These events were held a little late and early in my opinion to not bother guests 9:30 or so at night before guests left and staff had things cleaned up The doors to the courtyard were located at the wall of our bed So a lot of banging doors between guests and staff leaving while trying to get ready for sleep Thus no additional starsConclusion; 2 1/2 stars, place has potential, food was very good consistently, unsure if we’ll stay again and take the risk

We have been blown away by the hospitality, services, and property (pool/spa, yes!) at Lafayette Park A complete joy to stay here Every member of the front desk staff, in particular, showed our family authentic care and kindness

We took advantage of the area, walking distance to downtown Lafayette and that adorable Headlands Brewery — and the Lafayette Reservoir too! Thank you to Lafayette Park for everything!

This review is for our interaction with Lafayette Park which ultimately led to our inability to stay there As parents to an infant and four year old, we were very much looking forward to a night away Unfortunately, we mistakenly booked for the day of booking rather than the following weekend when we planned on staying

We realized our error a few hours later and immediately called Lafayette refused to work with us We assured them we would be booking again for the correct date to no avail So now we are out almost $300 which will cost us our ability to get away at all We are very saddened that their staunch devotion to their corporate rules won out over common sense and decency Book with caution
