Just ended a very nice stay at the Hotel Bennett There is no shortage of high end hotels in Charleston and The Bennett did not disappoint Rooms (we had a deluxe king) were clean, comfortable and quiet

The bed was great and the a/c and room darkening shades ensured a restful sleep Beautiful bathroom with plenty of space Only critique is cheap bath towels that did not match up with the quality of the room or bath Overall, the hotel was very nice and staff were pleasant and helpful Shout out to Webb at the front entrance! Nice rooftop bar that we only discovered on our last dayWe liked the hotel’s location that was not smack in the heart of the historic district but just a short walk away and close to many great bars and restaurants, not to mention a lovely park Would stay here again and would recommend to others!Though rated it 4 stars, that’s still quite good in my view I reserve five stars for truly outstanding and amazing hotels

Surprised and Brought my husband to Hotel Bennett for 50th from Oregon It was worth the trip! We have traveled all over and usually stay in 5 star hotels, Hotel Bennett’s service and hospitality was bar none I booked the Kings Club, worth the splurge!! We have done the inclusive floors before, Hotel Bennett surpassed them all

We loved the history of the city, the culture of true southern hospitality and the charm of the old south Hotel Bennett is right in the heart of it all The pool is smaller and nothing to write home about but I expected as much with a Hotel right in the town hub on top of a high rise Shout out to Tammy, William and Kevin Connoisseur ? who use to live in Oregon, forgot your name but we loved you too! Recommended Blueberry muffins from bakery and yes! Worth getting ❤️ They all brought the weekend alive for us as they offered ideas for places to eat and places to roam as we walked the city during the day and went for early morning runs down less traveled streets Please don’t hesitate to book your stay If you are use to quality and service, Hotel Bennett won’t disappoint

Liza McGarity

We have been devoted customers of The Bennett for the past few years but after our current stay, we will not return The pool was not available the entire week of our vacation We were not told upon booking that this would be the case

Two nights in a row, the bartender told us they closed the bar at 10 pm but yet we saw the bartender doing shots with friends Our room was serviced with wet sheets and pillow cases placed on our bed When we called about these concerns, no one seemed to care When you pay $700 per night for a hotel room, you expect a certain level of service This hotel has gone downhill Very disappointing stay Money not well spent Will not return

Thank you North Charleston Marriott for an amazing week! This hotel was our home away from home for the whole week and it did not disappoint! Aesthetically the hotel is really nice from the lobby to the rooms We also had access to the M Lounge which was awesome because we could get a hot breakfast before heading to the beach (we were at the beach everyday) and snacks and drinks whenever! Shouts to the staff who was also very kind I’ll miss seeing Shelia in the M Lounge each morning as she was so kind and provided good tidbits on the beaches we should visit

The pool area and the cabanas are also a plusTruly impressed!

Wonderful property Gorgeous vibrant accent lighting makes the hotel stand out in style My room was upgraded (to my surprise) and definitely added to my experience

Both the powder room and bathroom had plenty of toiletries, and towelsThe room was very clean, and definitely helped me relaxThe M Club breakfast was great The staff working the morning of May 25th, 2022 was super friendly, funny and really nice about reminding me (twice) to use the provided gloves before getting food from the buffetFinally, the elevators are quick, quiet, and everything seemed to be working I doubt my work will bring me back to this city, but I believe you should choose this hotel if you are coming here!

Lisa Keller

We had such a fabulous experience at the N Charleston Marriott that I had to leave a review Everyone that we interacted with— the shuttle driver, the front desk, the wait staff and housekeeping, and everyone else at the hotel was incredibly helpful, friendly and kind The room was well- stocked with supplies and was very clean and comfy, the bar/restaurant was prompt with our order and the food/drinks were delicious, and the shuttle took us everywhere that we wanted to go with no wait! I can not say enough positive things about our wonderful experience at this location

We hope that life brings us back to North Charleston so we can stay there again

We love Hyatt Place so when we saw that was where our baseball team had blocks we were super excited The outside and lobby were clean and looked like what we were used to The carpet in the 3rd floor hall looked like it had seen better days

Looked super dirty and was even coming up at spots in the center of the hall We got to our room and the thermostat had been set to 78 HEAT so it was a hot box in there It was set up a little differently than we were used to as far as where the bed was vs the couch and the very small dresser but no big deal Room was clean I wish they would sanitize the remotes or at least let us know they did (other hotels are placing in a bag or adding a sticker that it had been sanitized) The reason I’m only giving 3 stars (barely 3 stars) was bc the beds were hard We stayed 3 nights and I didn’t sleep well all 3 nights Definitely not something we were used to with Hyatt Place and sad to say, if we come back we won’t be staying here It’s really hard to enjoy a day at the field when you haven’t been able to sleep well

Lashona Vines

My husband frequents Hyatt Place even before we were married Earning points this weekend for a free room; we did not expect to get the worse room in the building or maybe the whole building is just lacking in many ways Besides, a great and peaceful sleep experience, we were disappointed in the room overall

We were here for the Cooper bridge run The outside of the building needs pressure washing The curtains in our room were dirty I could literally see stains The bathroom shower did not appear to be clean as I saw hair and dark particles The toilet handle needed to be held to complete the flush The shower head was weak and limited to no water pressure along with it taking 10 minutes for the water to get warm , and never hot The lobby smelled clean but the elevator floors were not maintained throughout the weekend and the elevator seemed slow to reach the floors Overall we were disappointed in the room and will never return to Hyatt place unless it’s in an upscale location where the service is the utmost priority

Dede T

One of the things I liked best about this hotel is the brightness of the parking lot I really appreciate this being a solo female Traveler Yvonne at the front desk was also super friendly

My only complaint about these hotels is the location of the plugs for your electronics I don’t know why they put them underneath the side table

Hotel is very dated and In need of major renovations Don’t be fooled by the name brand or the lobby appearance Lobby is nice

Room… different story Listen to the reviews cause I sure wish I did Also the room you book is hardly ever the room you actually get You may book a king room and end up in A handicapped accessible room because that’s all they had left Let’s not get into the plastic block they have at the head of the bed Oh and no breakfast Only breakfast that’s available is for pay at A Starbucks cafe Dump… HARD PASS… hey Marriott ITS TIME TO RENOVATE AND STOP CHARGING $200 AND UP PER NIGHT FOR BASICALLY A MOTEL…

Jennifer Cate

Only a minute from I-26 but doesn’t feel like you’re so close to an interstate Within walking distance to a newer, very nice shopping center/courtyard with coffee shop, restaurants, some shopping and much more Hotel and room were clean and comfortable

Has a Starbucks bistro bar for morning and a quaint bar at night Has several outdoor areas, gym was clean and staff were nice I will definitely stay here again

Kavin Davis

Horrible staff, not friendly at all Will say anything to get you out of their face and Eric I think who is the District Manager or whatever is his title was no help at all The cleaning staff needs to be trained or at least monitor

Many times they would make my bed and use the same dirty sheets that I laid in prior to that I have stayed with this brand for now in this area for more than a month I will not be using this brand again Also the showers in the place is crazy So it’s an opening with no shower curtain Not sure why they went this way on the rooms, if it was saving money on shower curtains or what but it will be a cold shower every time you step in with no curtain Bad idea and bad concept for the customer that like warm showers

This place isn’t the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, but it’s pretty closePros: Comfortable, Clean (at least appearing) beds Apples and bananas available in the morning

Cons: Faulty/exposed electrical, musty smell, multiple leaks in ceiling of gym , ice machines on floors 2-4 broken Hot breakfast items are slimy and inedible No potable water Pool about 8 feet long and 4 feet wide

J Mack

Booked my room almost 2 weeks in advance Got here to check in and they told me my room was canceled I asked who canceled my room

The lady said the hotel did Poor customer service I traveled a good bit of ways to get here to be turned around after booking in advance and then canceled without notification Very poor customer service I will never stay at another Marriott due to this 1 incident

Jammie Brown

Overall it’s a nice property and rooms are nice The front desk staff were very friendly Beds were the most comfortable we have had in our last 4 hotel stay, which was a huge plus for us

However, we did have some issues The first room we were put in had blood stain on the comforter Called front desk and she moved us very quickly We were so tired as we had been driving and checked in after midnight due to delays So we packed up and moved Next morning we take showers and the shower water was lukewarm Well, we showered and had to go to our function We come in and the shower wasn’t warm at all, so we decided to wait til morning Well this morning the lukewarm water was quite cold Called front desk and they asked if we wanted to move rooms AGAIN My husband declined as we were leaving today He was told that someone would be up to check our shower as I completed my cold shower My husband refused to shower in cold water and no one came and we waited 45 minutes The front desk apologized when I checked out Thank God we have friends that he was able to go get o their home and shower, so we could travel home The breakfast was frozen sandwiches, green bananas, green apples, cereal, and yogurt It shows that their hot breakfast bar is back, but it isn’t The only option for me as a pescatarian was yogurt Thank God I like Greek yogurt Lol I’m disappointed in the water situation, breakfast, and the blood given the price we paid Overall it is a nice hotel

We stayed here for a week due to an unexpected illness of a relative There were no rooms available in town due to a holiday, school events, concerts, and bike week so we couldn’t just change hotels Upon arrival, our room wasn’t clean

There was hair in the shower, the drawers, the beds, and makeup on one of the comforters and several towels After complaining, we got those things resolved but we cleaned out the drawers ourselves The dirty comforters and towels were left in our room from Saturday evening until Wednesday, despite the front desk clerk telling us she’d have someone pick them up Housekeeping came in on Sunday and still left them in our room However, we didn’t notice we had slept on dirty sheets that first night We were livid The walls in this place are paper thin Children are literally running up and down the halls yelling past 10:30pm We finally opened our door and fussed at them On our last night there, we couldn’t sleep because the hotel had allowed people to throw a party Again, children running up and down the halls, yelling, and we had to drive 12 hours the next day We also have a young child, who needed sleep and never got it the entire time we were there The staff at the front desk had great attitudes when we spoke with them Housekeeping leave a great deal to be desired Policies definitely need to be changed If people can’t sleep in a hotel, and if I can hear people in the next room talking in a normal voice, it’s time to renovate I would not recommend anyone stay here It’s no different than staying in a Motel 6 or a Rodeway Inn, which is less expensive Save your money if this is the route you’re thinking of taking

Mrs Reynolds

Two stars for the lovely greetings from the evening and early am desk clerks Oh, and the white sheets were clean But I think this was probably a Motel 6 once upon a time and the cigarette smoke kind of stuck

I suspect if someone would invest in some new carpet and a few other refreshes this would be a pretty good spot to stay I just needed a bed for one night before an early am flight – and I shouldn’t dish it b/c my points covered itjust sayin’

David Bevins

Unlike most Marriott Courtyard Properties, this one is extremely run down, and dirty I’ve been a Marriott Rewards Member for close to 20 years and I’ve been a very loyal customer Unfortunately, this one stay has me guessing why? Why have I stuck with Marriott? Why have I been such a loyal patron of this brand? My wife and I checked in around 9:45 pm after executing the mobile check-in and were given room 219

In my profile, I always request a high floor, so when I was given a 2nd-floor room, it made me wonder Why? It didn’t bother me at first, but when I rode the dirty, pulled-up, carpet in the elevator, and then entered my room, the disgusting aroma of smoke filled my eyes and nostrils I immediately went back downstairs and asked to be moved to another room that wasn’t close to the elevator and one that didn’t smell like a low-class bar The manager working the counter simply said that they were sold out and that I got the only room still available She said Marriott defines a high floor as anything that isn’t the first floor What? Again, why do I stay loyal to Marriott? I went back to my room and immediately booked a new room at the North Charleston Marriott, which is across the street for tomorrow night That is a wonderful hotel and we have loved staying there The advice I would give you regarding the Marriott North Charleston Airport is to ONLY pick it if it’s your last resort There are many more Marriott brands in North Charleston that are better Again, I’m very dissatisfied with this whole experience Oh Yeah, when I was at the counter a bit later, paying for a bottle of water (BTW, what happened to the free bottle of water when checking in?) another person checked in, so I guess I’m not the last person to check in I love honesty???? At least he won’t be by the elevator

The hotels in what they call the “The Phate” area of Charleston can sometimes be unpredictable in quality, even those brands with good reputations It’s nice to see that this tucked away gem is still holding true Extremely nice, courteous and understanding staff

Well laid out and clean rooms, great parking and to top it off, they actually have a hot breakfast that many still advertise but don’t offer I enjoyed it as much as someone could possibly enjoyed a hotel stay and I will stay here again without a doubt

Michele

My first time in South Carolina and we were pleasantly surprised by the Southern Hospitality! The staff was really nice We stayed here on 4/22/22 and had a wonderful stay The hotel is in a safe area & very short drive (5-10 min) to the Charleston waterfront

This hotel is well maintained and the staff is very personable and courteous The rooms are clean and neat and well appointed Very good parking with no additional parking fee They also have a good hot breakfast (bacon, sausage, oatmeal, eggs, cereal, fruit, Nutella!, breads, etc) with excellent staff attending to it The beds were very comfortable tooWe were so impressed by the excellent service & hospitality We do need to mention the management, Brenda Pieper (GM) & Raven-Symone Tilghman (Asst GM), who went above & beyond They were both extremely courteous, professional and they value their guests Outstanding hospitality! We would definitely stay here again & highly recommend!

Overall we enjoyed our stay as a family with young kids The common areas and the pool were a favorite for us We loved that the pool was heated! We also loved the rooftop bar with the nice view and had dinner with our kids there two nights

The room was clean and had everything we needed The bathrooms could use a refresh/update though and the bathroom fan was very loud Overall we had a good experience and had good service from the staff The location was good and just a short drive into downtown or the beaches There is a park across the street which was nice

M.Roper

Charleston Marriott is quite niceThe rooms are clean, and have a nice aesthetic It’s nice having a gym with more than just a set of dumbbells

The downstairs restaurant is also nice, although I didn’t eat there, others seemed to have liked the food and the atmosphere seemed relaxed in passing The staff were very courteousMy only issue is the parking (which I included into service) Even as a guest, you have to pay to park via an app (or on a website, which is not very difficult to use to be fair) that you will see on signs around the building You can also pay to have your vehicle parked by a valet Either way the parking fee was a bit aggravating It may have been my fault when reserving the hotel, that I didn’t see that there was a parking fee However, I felt this was unnecessary When you’re paying in the hundreds to stay at a hotel per night, paying for parking feels like a punch in the gut And with the impressive size of the building, if you park at night, you will likely have a ways to walk to get to your room, which can be frustrating when you’re carrying a lot of luggage or gear for work daily

Sanket Pandit

Hotel is very good a little further from historic downtown but we knew that The lobby and common spaces are maintained excellently Breakfast buffet is reasonable for the price and kids are half price

Rooms are well proportioned and we have a sunset view over the water Bathrooms are small and I have been told that it is the same for all rooms Carpet in my room appears old and has a moist smell Perhaps need a change

Chii Lam (ChiiDoLL)

Their rooms are gorgeous and generously spaced inside The bathrooms are so inviting, I feel extremely comfortable and at easeEven though the shower temperature was difficult to get just right 90% of the time

It was too cold or too hot It was like the water was traveling from a really long distance and by the time you adjust, something else is already happening And you don’t know where the sweet spot wasOther than that, their lobby was cute and the bar was next to good seating areas Our big group was able to be comfortable while drinking our beers~ it was a very pleasant experience! The staff in the restaurant was super nice She was so kind and gentle

Mallory Marlowe

We lived in Charleston for over ten years and then moved away, but we come back to visit family every couple of months This hotel was probably our least favorite hotel we’ve ever stayed at The customer service was terrible at the front desk

They ignored my husband while we tried to check in with a tired toddler No greeting or anything That is incredibly rude The room was very mediocre for the price Very small and looks like NOTHING on the website The bathroom was not cleaned well either which I’m a huge stickler for because I have a little one The elevators are extremely tiny and you have to hunt to actually find them The layout of the hotel is horrible in general The breakfast is basic and no different than other hotels except other hotels offer free breakfast (included in your stay) and this hotel charges you for breakfast no matter what And it’s expensive for hardly any food The location is also right up on the highway so it’s very noisy We will never stay here again They try to make this place look so nice and fancy and these other reviews say it was great but it was very basic

Katy Mullen

The attention to detail in the decor is marred by the dirty rooms The lobby has fantastic light fixtures as well as a great little marketplace with food and drinksHowever

my room had stains and leftover takeout remnants on the carpet by the nightstand There were big stains on the bed-skirt as well as long black hair in the bathroom The toilet had not been flushed and there was used soap in the shower The room did have a refrigerator and microwave, but who wants to eat after seeing all of that! The knob for the shower came off in my hand! There was only shampoo and lotion, but no conditionerAlso, the air conditioning did not work, so my room was 70 degrees all night The hot room would have been hard to sleep in even if the fire alarm battery had not been chirping intermittently all night long!If you are looking for a good, clean hotel near the airport for a solid night sleep, look elsewhere

Easy check in, everything was clean, love the concept of very minimal and basic but has what you need Beds were incredibly comfortable I bring a small fan to sleep with to block out noise, so it was quiet for me

When we first got there the cleaning chemicals were a little strong but when we got back after dinner the smell had gone away We definitely will be coming back!

Felicia Pritchett

I stay once a month here and I just love the concept of this chain No carpet on the floor, fresh modern look to the rooms, great breakfast and fantastic service from everyone I’ve encountered They were amazing when I dropped my earring down the sink and the next day it was found in the drain trap! Talk about service and going the extra mile! Love them!

Tara Gray-Coley

We stayed here the day before our cruise The rooms are clean and colorful and inviting I Loved the decor! Really nice! The service was exceptional, very pleasant and friendly staff

Perfect Even though my room faced I-26, I couldn’t hear the highway There was a fire pit I saw people enjoying, but I didn’t use it since it was unusually cold for SC that night

Also, the breakfast included was actually a voucher worth $24, so I just loaded up on fancy smart water and snacks since I was on a road trip Overall, a good value and nice hotel No safety concerns and I was fortunate to park right out front and saw security doing patrols too

Amber H

Very nice hotel despite the surrounding location Friendly staff, excellent bartender Only flaw was the room phone not working and noticed stains on the inside of the pillow but they had 2 pillowcases on them probably for that reason

The alarm clock was also turned on and we didn’t know until 5am the next day but oh well We loved the complimentary cookies and waters upon arrival

Chris Ransome

Had a really good time in Charleston The rooms were very nice and clean The staff at the front desk (African American lady) was super amazing

I watched how she interacted with other customers as well and I have to say, that is the type of customer service that you look for when walking into a location I wish I had ask you for your name because you definitely need the recognition that you deserve 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿

This is the best Courtyard experience I’ve ever had The front desk staff at check in and check out were friendly and professional The rooms were CLEAN

even in places like behind the toilet and there were no hairs or shampoo goop left behind on the shower curtain or on the shower walls! There was a pool The lobby was fun and inviting The bed was comfy I wish they were all like this!

I stayed for 10 days and requested only two times to clean my room I’m fine with that if they actually would have done itThe first time I asked specifically twice to also change the bed linen

But they did not do itSo I went down to the reception and requested bed linen and ended up changing the bed myselfThe second time again I requested cleaning and again requested specifically they change the linen Again it did not happenThey only replaced the towels and removed the trash They didn’t even vacuum the roomRealizing that they don’t change bed linen makes me very unsure if I had clean sheets the first night as the bed already looked like someone was sleeping in there for some timeThe air condition is very loud and kept me awake all night And you can’t really shut it off either Overall not a pleasant stay

Great place to stay Convenient 30 minutes to Isle of Palms, 15 minutes to downtown Charleston

Nice staff, amazing gym, spacious, clean rooms! I really enjoyed it there Our only negative was that there was not a microwave in our roomUPDATE: I’m deleting a star (From 4 to 3), because NO ONE informed us that we could request a microwave, and this message was posted NO WHERE in the room My party specifically wanted a microwave during our four night stay I want to point this out so that future guests will be informed Thank you for the response!

We travel a lot for business, pleasure, and sports and this staff was hands down THE BEST STAFF we have experienced in years! Customer service was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! So polite, getting to know their guests and referring to them by name with a “good morning Mrs/Mr” and so on

The hotel was clean, beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was spot on cool for the hot climate I would stay here again and again if we were in the area Quito’s to the management staff, when employees are treated well and respected it shows in their work ethic I bet this is a fun place to work as well Thanks for a great stay!!!

I’m not one to stay in hotels, but this one was very nice! The room was very clean and ready when we arrived The breakfast was actually pretty decent! The fruit was fresh and delicious The sausages were not those gross squishy ones you usually get at a hotel continental breakfast

The coffee was really good as well The pool was okay Nothing to write home about Definitely clean and welcoming The gym had a very nice treadmill, some weights, an elliptical and also a laundry room The ladies at the front desk were so kind and friendly! The cleaning staff also smiled and said hello anytime I passed them in the halls

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in! Everything was homey and when you come in the desk people even say “Welcome home!” Was a great feeling coming back to the room with it being cleaned spotless! Bed was very comfortable and we even were giving 2 little bottles of wine for our anniversary We’ve loved our stay and will recommend it to everyone!

I stayed 3 nights with a wedding party The hotel grounds and rooms are very clean Nice modern decor & TV

Comfortable bed, I was lucky and had a microwave in my room A few wedding guests didn’t have microwaves, but there is one accessible 24 hours in the lobby My one suggestion would be to ensure microwaves are in every room, especially with the bar not open until 5 pm Staff is friendly Hotel is close to stores/restaurants, I would absolutely stay here again

JD Brown

Great hotel Nice to have a restaurant/bar so you don’t have to leave for dinner Rooms were nice and very clean

The only issue that I had was with breakfast I was not told when I checked in that you have to order breakfast the night before and was a little upset walking down for breakfast only to find out I was not able to get breakfast

bigtata84

Excellent experience overall Special mention to Heather at the front desk as she was very friendly and accommodating along with having an excellent attitude and brilliant smile The room was very welcoming and clean

The bathroom had an interesting perk as the mirror had a Bluetooth speaker built in it! The layout of the room is very functional and a good value for the stay Definitely recommend for business trips

Exceptionally clean and friendly hotel The whole place glistens and smells clean; coffee in the lobby is fresh even at 5am There is an indoor pool and while the breakfasts are typical hotel fare (scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, cereals, yogurt) they are decent quality and tasty

There is a small bar off the lobby here, too Open til midnight on Fri-Sat We really enjoyed our stay and recommend to others

Friendly service Big clean rooms Great location

Only negative is that it is VERY loud during cleanings and if kids are playing above your room Wasn’t horrible but the loudest I have observed in hotelsAbsolutely will stay here again

Deepa Pai

Had a very bad experience I booked a two queen bedroomCalled two days before the reservation start to inform that we were bringing a pet

They indicated that only option available was a corner room in the first floor ( did not mention anything about the number of beds) We ended up in a very congested king bedroomAs we had pet, they did not give us double queen bed roomthat we reserved in any other floors ( if the rooms are limited in a pet friendly hotel, head count request during the reservation should include pet as well ) We had to sleep on pull out sofa bed which was very uncomfortable

Great place to stay In the cut and out the way yet within walking distance of places to eat and grab snacks and needed items if you have no car We stayed here for a week waiting for my vehicle to arrive at the VPC and I really enjoyed our stay

The place was clean The hotel staff spoke to you when you entered and even sometimes when you left Love the environment, wasnt noisy The breakfast was decent and they even offered us some fresh baked cookies one day They have a microwave which I love, they have a mini fridge as well It was really small We did have an ant problem after 2 days of having left snacks out, which I never experienced in a hotel but that was about it On our last day we did have somebody knock on our door, asking about housekeeping but we had our no housekeeping thing up so not sure why they knocked early in the morning like that But overall good stay, would recommend and stay again
