Ended up at Hampton Inn Kittery for over 3-weeks on business While hotels are typically not ideal long-term, I could have asked for a better experience Location is perfect, within walking distance of the Outlet Mall, eateries, the highway

The shipyard and downtown Portsmouth are minutes away The staff is amazing—friendly and professional The pool and state of the art fitness center are a bonus Decent continental breakfast Hot and cold options Nice sized rooms with desk and small kitchen area (minus a stove)

Kris Tangen

For the cost of the room I felt like the Hampton Inn Kittery was good value! The good: the bed was comfortable, the cost of the room wasn’t bad for a king suite (under 200 a night), the hotel provides a free breakfast every morning which had a lot of unique options it wasn’t a continental it was an actual breakfast and the quality of the food wasn’t awful which you kind of expect it to be for a free breakfast, the location of the hotel was perfect for the beach, for visiting Portsmouth, for visiting York, etc the staff were friendly, helpful, and did an excellent jobThe less than stellar: the room smelled like mildew, the bathroom toilet did not flush fully so you had to flush twice regardless of what was occupying the bowl The pool smelled of mildew

We were walked in on by cleaning staff who thought the room was empty which I don’t hold against the cleaning staff but I was worried that they ended our reservation early because the staff only clean by request or when your room is emptyOverall I would recommend this place if you’re in Maine looking for a good location and good value, not without its faults but for the cost it got the job done!

I have worked in the hospitality industry for decades and seen it all when staying at hotels Seriously, I have many stories, but I have to say my stay at the Kittery Hampton Inn & Suites was beyond exceptional What made it so great? The General Manager, Reid, and the AGM, Justin

Both gentleman went out of their way to make my 2-week stay pleasurable They greeted me each morning by name and always asked if I needed anything Even the housekeeper asked to carry my breakfast try to my room one morning Seriously nice people who strive to accommodate! The hotel is immaculate, the location is in walking distance to restaurants & shopping, and the breakfast (which is include) was unique and delightful They also have a huge front lawn to walk your dog The management at this property definitely goes the extra mile, so many thanks This was my first stay at this property- but whenever I am in the area it will be my hotel of choice Hats off the Reid & Justin!!

Even though we were in kinda dead season it was just great! We enjoyed the ocean view king room, comfortable bed, the indoor pool was so much fun, cleanliness is number one for me and the room was very cleanChecking in and out was very easy If you visit there, have breakfast in The stonewall kitchen and dinner in Lobster clove by the ocean

We tried surf and turf and didn’t like it muchWe would definitely go back again!

Stephanie C

We have stayed here a couple times now and love it The check in is super easy Staff is very helpful and they even have a texting feature so if there’s anything you need you can text them

They were very responsive when asked for additional items like a shampoo and even when asking for recommendations on a pizza place nearby The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean The pool and hot tubs are very well maintained and we routinely saw them taking samples of the water to make sure it was clean and safe You can’t beat the location just steps from the beach Such a beautiful place We feel that when you factor in the cost of parking and added gas and traffic you can’t beat staying here I highly recommend staying here

Narissa Liptak

Considering we went and purposely stayed during a blizzard, we had a lot of fun Our suite was nice and roomy for the 3 of us Could have had 4 no problem

Parking under the building during the storm was very nice The walk to the pool, not so much, lol The staff was all super friendly and informative Apart from the handful of goldfish crackers we found in our pull out sofa bed and the used tissue behind it, we will definitely go back Have to figure out when to book to get that amazing view in mid-July

We stayed here for our min-moon and it was the best experience ever! Ryan goes out of his way to make you feel like family! We were fortunate enough to experience a private farm-to-table dinner experience that we will never forget Ryan is a trained chef and blew us away with his food pairings! Not to mention breakfast at the inn every morning was to die for Ryan truly cares about QUALITY

And quality you will find with everything from the bedding, to soaps, to food, to people! My husband loves bees and he even provided a bee experience! This is truly a special place and we cannot wait to return for murder mysteries or other experiences they have down the road We cannot say enough about how truly special this place is, and that’s because of the excellent people behind the vision Oh they even have postcards so we got to mail ourselves a nice note from Maine to remember the occasion! Book now! Thank you so much for being YOU and giving us an experience we will never forget!!

Michael LaCorte

My fiancé and I recently stayed at the Lady Mary Inn for a last minute getaway and we were so happy that we did! It is easily one of the nicest bed and breakfasts we have stayed in The moment you pull into the driveway you are greeted by the owners, Ryan and Steve, with the backdrop of a stunning Victorian home behind them When you walk inside, you feel like you are transported back in time

The home is grand and includes architectural and design details that you just don’t see in modern homes Our suite (Dogwood) was beautiful, comfortable and clean The breakfast that Ryan prepared for us was amazing Thank you Ryan and Steve for being such great hosts! We will be back

Molly Field

If you are looking for the ultimate Maine bed and breakfast experience, look no further My partner and I booked last-minute on our way to a wedding further north in Maine, and our brief stay had us completely infatuated by the Lady MaryFans of fine homes will find not only a spectacularly maintained estate, but an ongoing restoration handled with such love and attention to detail

The same love and attention to detail is evident in every inch of the Inn; from the curated décor, to the flourishing houseplants, to the gallery of diverse artwork representing local artists, to the incredible breakfast fashioned from entirely local and home-grown ingredients The owner/operators are extremely knowledgeable about the history of the home and passionate about engaging with the community Their passion is infectious, their Inn is beautiful, and their two Boxer pups are very, very sweet The Lady Mary is such a nice experience, and truly an incredible value Had we known how magical a place this is, we would have made it the focal point of our trip

Nice hotel They said my room would be ready at 3:30 but it was not at 3:45 The light in the room is sparse

The shower is really nice The room fridge and microwave are very nice Larger than I expected Lobby is comfortable and nicely decorated Staff is pleasant and helpful Location is good but shuttle service was a bit slow Hallway noise late at night woke me but it was not loud nor prolonged

Samuel Conner

I travel for work and am cooped up in hotels 90% of the year This hotel refused to clean my room, and then when they finally did they wouldn’t change bedding I had been staying here for over 3 weeks and refused to change bedding

After longer talks they finally came and changed bedding As a diamond member this should’ve been addressed and never occur again However, this is the second Marriott in 2 months that refused to clean rooms Some say it is because of extended stays Last Marriott was only a week stay and refused to Clean Here at this Marriott, I am staying for 2 months and they won’t Clean more than once a week That would be fine if they changed bedding but I had to specifically ask for new bedding as it wasn’t changed Very frustrating to be living on the road and dealing with this Am I not paying a new room price everyday? Why has cleaning been restricted to once a week? Shouldn’t it be every day cleaned if I am paying the same price everyday? Isn’t that in the agreement or something? Very upset from my stay here

Deon Caine

At check in, first thing that was said “we don’t service the rooms every day You will be here 5 nights so you get 1 service day” Really? I’m paying up to $400 per night and you can’t even service the room? You had to pay for breakfast

Prices were crazy high $11 for a breakfast burrito? $3 for a soda out of the machine I will not be back, in fact this place pushed me to find a different brand other than Marriott They try to squeeze every penny out of you even though you pay through the nose for their rooms

Steven Card

Rooms were very updated and nice Comfortable and modern with large smart TV, mini fridge, safe, and plenty of outletsThe European breakfast for $18 was pretty good

Everything was very fresh and I left very satisfied Amazing croissants and I liked the meats and cheeses outDowntown is a pretty quick walk but this hotel isn’t immersed downtown You’ll still have to do a 7ish minute walk Not bad, but good to know if you’re with some people who are less mobileBiggest gripe is the $40 a night valet parking Wow that’s steep No free option either other than park on the streetStill enjoyed it though I’d stay again!

jeff miller

The room was fine, the beds were fine, the service was fine

all things one would expect in a hotel at this price point The staff was all very friendly and helpful when asked questions The 2 star rating is based solely on the parking situation, $40 per night for valet parking is the only option provided, else park on the street and pay the meter Sure, one would argue this was in the small print when booking the room, and we simply missed it This does not make it right! There was an undercover first story garage where the valet cars were being parked it was essentially empty, presumably because no one wanted to be gouged the $40 And finding street parking was troublesome, not to mention lugging the bags from the car to hotel in the cold and rainJust charge $40 per night more for the room and give free parking it’s the honest thing to do But they don’t do that, because they know us, as well as many others would simply book a different hotelMarriott hotels have been our go to chain in the past few years, staging in 4 of them in the last 4 weeks alone whilst visiting colleges with our son 2 of the 4 were not great experiences, we’re going to check out a different branded hotel chain next time

Cara B

I’m really surprised by the high price point For the money they don’t offer much The extra charge for valet parking only is shocking considering the high room cost and the long wait times to actually give or get your car

The only time I was greeted by front desk staff was by the 5:00 am crew The most helpful staff member was a gentleman who kindly told us how to get to the rooftop in Spanish Even with the language barrier we were able to follow his directions There are literally no signs anywhere It’s as if guests are supposed to just know where things are located Be prepared to walk a distance, across train tracks and parking lots, to get breakfast or really anything you may need The only breakfast option the hotel offers is an expensive limited menu breakfast served after 9 If you are even marginally modest, this is not the hotel for you The bathroom door is frosted glass with an open inch at the top and bottom Lest you think the vent will help, there is no vent fan Every possible noise or smell associated with bathroom usage will be shared There was also mold on our shower head and the shower door wouldn’t close so we flooded the bathroom every shower we took At checkout informed them of these two issues, was comped one night of valet parking All in all it was a very expensive disappointment

We came down from Maine for high tea, and our meal was *completely* worth the drive We placed a reservation on Open Table, which I’m glad we did, as the tea parlor was busy even in the off-season The food, tea, service, and atmosphere were all just exemplary

The building is an immaculately maintained historical house full of beautiful details, fixtures, and furniture from the past Cindy made our celebration very special We highly recommend Silver Fountain for dining

Charlie Zizza

This is a beautiful and historic place to stay I spent a lot of time just looking around and enjoying the details Each room is decorated in it own style which I appreciate

The breakfast and tea are great and the owners are friendly and clearly care a lot about the place Dover is a fantastic town with a lot to do for its size (restaurants, bars, shops, history, etc) and the downtown is easily walkable from Silver Fountain Inn

Tracey Downs

We went to the Silver Fountain Inn for our first murder mystery experience We had a group of 13 people, ranging in age from 21 to 78, and EVERYONE had a blast!!! The Inn is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms were all so unique and cozy and the food was delish! Pam and Jim, the owners; went out of there way to make sure everyone had a great time We all cannot wait to go back

I highly recommend staying here for any reason, not just for the murder mystery weekendBut if that’s your thing … then suspense and drama await you 😁 !

I stayed at the Garrison for 8 days for work From Jamie and her colleagues at the front desk, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, to the amazing landscaper I never met but whose beautiful flowers, lively bird-feeders, and hotel-replica handmade birdhouse I admire, this place was a perfect place to spend the week for work In spite of the hotel apparently being totally full while I was there, and also serving canine guests, my room was **so quiet**

It was amazing liked it so much I’ll be stopping there next weekend (assuming I can get a room for us) on our family road trip next weekend

Angel Earth

This is a nice hotel located right next to/behind Dunkin Donuts and CVS I had the ‘Efficiency Room’ with a King size bed It was a quite and pleasant stay for me which is what I wanted

I gave 4 stars due to there being a narrow shower stall instead of a bathtub and also that the bed was a bit too soft as it felt like your back is sinking into the bed Otherwise, they have good amenities, a decent breakfast and is in a convenient location

Rachel Hansen

I would give this review a negative 5 if I could We booked a room and then canceled it immediately We were charged almost $400 for a “no show

” When we called they refused to give us a refund and told us, “they could have sold the room 20 times over that night” and “it wasn’t there issue” Now when we try to call they screen our phone calls and do not answer The one time I got through and spoke to Kathy, she told me that the hotel manager Tanya wasn’t available and that she would call me back Of course, Tanya never called back When I asked when she would be available Kathy said, “Oh you know, it is just so hard to tell with her I don’t know” Clearly they are avoiding us So very difficult to give a review on a hotel room that we never actually stayed in and were charged full price EXTREMELY disappointed in their customer service When I tried to explain our situation, it was clear they had zero empathy They are just a money hungry company who can care less about their customers

Very nice Every member of staff we came in contact with was polite Rooms were clean

Pool was clean The grounds were nicely kept with beautiful flowers I loved the 24 hour coffee bar I wish they had iced water provided there though The breakfast spoiled us It was great everyday and I’m going to miss having a hot breakfast just down the hall Definitely a nice hotel and I recommend it

Zack Dresser

Pleased with accommodations and friendly staff Location is close to many restaurants/stores/coffee shops which was nice I accidentally left my headphone case in my room when I checked out and called and talked to Summer about it

They were really kind and helpful in looking for my lost item They found them and promptly mailed them back to me at home I am so appreciative for this hotel’s help!

Lana McEachnie

Everything else was great but I’m all about the cleanliness of the bathroom We were in room 208 and I couldn’t shower before leaving this morning because the shower had so much mold I took pictures

Also, we were awakened at 4am by a loud pinging noise – I think from someone above us showering I took a video It came from in the walls and stopped when the shower was done Do better Hampton Inn!! Edited to say: Regarding your response, I’m confused as to why you’re asking me to spend more of my time to reach out to you again The pictures show the problem, the room number – I would hope you’ve already sent someone in to fix this Have a good day

A unique experience in this out-of-the-way hotel While everything on the surface seemed to be good, there were a few notable, interesting things The staff and service seem to be top notch

The continental breakfast was as you would expect it to be, small items to eat, without much fanfare The thing that got us was the fact that when we entered our suite, we were greeted with a heavily stained carpet Seeing as we were not at the beach, or someplace where this would be normal, it threw red flags as to how the room would be But the room turned out to be pretty fantastic With separate bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, it was perfect for our large family The only other semi-complaint would be the inundating smell of chlorine bleach when you first enter the main lobby (not a bad thing, per se, since it denotes cleanliness) But the lack of other smells commonly associated with hotels nowadays (weed, mold, mildew, etc) was a pleasant surprise The elevator was a bit rickety, especially for family members that have phobias in them But the rate of speed was highly-respectable The flow of water to the showers was great, but the temperature could use tweaking on the fourth floor The staff were ubër-friendly, including a kind woman at the breakfast offering chocolate chips for our waffles, or the front desk woman who was kind to greet us when we would come downstairs The breakfast area was very clean and tidy; well-maintained But that stain remained the downfall of the adventure for my wife and daughter I would give it a solid 47 stars, but cannot go the full 5, although I gave it 5 for the overall (Also, a HUGE bonus was being right next to a Mexican restaurant — Margaritas — with easy access to and from, but that’s not really a thing to hitch or kick a review)

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to all of Downtown Portsmouth The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly Room was large and bright

Bed was comfortable Bathroom seemed a bit dirty like it had not been thoroughly cleaned before my stay Complimentary breakfast was unfussy and welcomed Drinks were available for purchase from the front desk and were reasonably priced Overall stay was as expected from a 3-star accommodation

J B

Hotel room was actually very spacious, clean, and modern The kitchenette was equipped with a large refrigerator, microwave, sink, and dishwasher The bathroom was a little odd with the shower design, but like the rest of the room, it was nice and spacious

Staff were very nice and accommodating So here’s the issue The walls are paper thin – more so than any hotel we’ve experienced You can hear everything going on in the surrounding rooms It honestly felt like we were sharing our room with the family next door We (me, my daughter and wife) had 2 nights of horrible sleep because of this It’s a shame because the hotel and staff are very nice but getting terrible sleep because of paper thin walls is a deal breaker for us

My husband and I have been staying at this location for almost 10 years now We love Portsmouth and this hotel is extremely convenient when coming to visit family all the way from North Carolina We now have a 2

5 year old son and finally was able to make the trip since Covid while I am currently 7 months pregnant We have never had an issue and have always enjoyed the staff Our stay was overall great until it came time to leave Because we live SO far away and driving with a toddler it is not the easiest, we needed to leave at 4am We loaded the majority of our items in to our car that we parked right out front of the entrance the day before so when we left, we only had a few items to carry down My husband stayed upstairs in our room, getting dressed, 25 year old asleep in the bed, while I took a duffle bag, our two pillows, and a few other items down We were staying in a suite so the bedroom is separate I wanted to get the car warmed up so we could easily transfer our toddler to the car Unfortunately, I did forget the hotel key upstairs in the midst of grabbing items, it was 4am When I went back inside and rang the bell, a man came to the door and said that he would not let me back inside after I explained to him what room I was in, forgot my card key, and that my husband and 25 year old was back upstairs in the room waiting for me to come help grab the last few items I had my drivers license AND confirmation of our booking on my cell phone and he would still not allow me back in He would not even call up to our room to ask my husband to verify it was in fact me to get back in My husbands cell phone was plugged in where our sleeping child was After almost 20 minutes and my husband worried for me, he checked his phone Had to wake up our child to come downstairs to get me While I completely Understand safety, I am Clearly 7 months pregnant and had my identification to compare to his information in the system! The man could have confirmed if he went back on the cameras because he was NOT at the front desk when I cam Down to see I had JUST come downstairs, arms full He could have easily allowed me to sit inside the lobby until my husband came downstairs instead of making me sit outside The man was extremely RUDE! Telling me to find another way?! We will be contacting cooperate and are owed a written apology This was handled completely extreme I was not some drunk walking in, trying to cause problems

We came for a quick overnight to meet up with friends from Maine Overall it was good however, the bathroom was in need of a good cleaning (the tub was dirty) and the kitchen floor sticky When we arrived we met the housecleaning staff 2 doors down

The room lacked a “clean’ smell even though there are stickers everywhere stating they used disinfectant Higher rating if the room had been cleaner

I went for 3 weeks for work The hotel is older and worn I didn’t mind this, but the cleanliness was not as expected

My room smelled of stale smoke, it wasn’t clean and over my 3 weeks they did not clean the room Only replaced towels and sheets The hallways and stairwells look like they never got vacuumed eitherSome of the staff was really friendly, others were not The ice machine on the second floor was brokenOn the plus side the hotel is in a good location Mostly quiet, there were a few people partying in the common bbq area outside my room past 9pm and I tried to call the front desk but no one was there And the beds were comfortable The laundry facility was easy to use My room was next to the elevators on the 4th floor and I didn’t really hear people so it was pretty well insulated for sound from the hallsLooks like I have the same comments as everyone else and the hotel has apologized after each review but taken no action to correct the issue of cleanliness even though it would be easy to step that up

This should not be ranked 42 stars on Google! Or considered a 3-star hotel I had to change rooms 3 times because they were so gross

The first had someone’s shaved hairs in the sink, a chewed on ottoman with dried slobber and a dirty kitchen floor The second had blood stains in the carpet in front of the bathroom sink (I’m sorry I ran out of there so fast I didn’t take a photo of that) The third had a grey couch that was stained brown in patches and a chair with scratches on the cushion The fourth was the last room available and my only complaint was the layer of dust on the headboard and in general the beds were poorly made The pool had hairs floating in it (I wore goggles) so I didn’t stay in I understand this hotel is pet friendly but I’ve stayed at others that are, and they were nice and cleanOnly good thing about this hotel was the front desk attendant David

Absolutely loved our stay Historical 300 year old property restored beautifully! Our room had a picturesque waterfront view, fireplace, and Jacuzzi tub We stayed in a quieter time of the year, which was perfect for us, but meant many restaurants weren’t open in town

The pub in the main house (Ships Cellar Pub) was open and literally was the best food of our entire trip Every staff member experience we had was reflective of the property, wonderful We can’t wait to come back and visit again

Fantastic place to stay, right across from the beach Warm and friendly staff compliment clean rooms The main inn has two excellent restaurants which are reasonably priced

Breakfast in included and is a step up from regular complimentary breakfasts There are ample choices, fresh pastries and really good coffeeI highly recommend this inn Take a break from the chains and try it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Didn’t expect to stay in a working 1600’s era hotel/tavern in Maine but man are we glad we did Absolutely lovely in every respect, no complaints at all Hotel is beautiful, the restaurants are incredible (seriously, one of the best meals we’ve ever had), the location is picture perfect

Staff are top tier, so helpful and friendly Can’t wait to go back Everything about our stay at the hotel and in York was magical There’s a wonderful, dramatic cliff walk that starts in the park across from the hotel; definitely check it out as well

The rooms were great Had some nice angles Different, clean, comfortable

Lighting in bathroom could have been better There was some working going on, so dealt with that noise The site and neighborhood is blah Not bad, but blah But you are a very short walk to a great downtown, so the area has lots to offer $35 to park (valet) seemed overkill after paying for the room, though Staff and vibe was good Room was very nice We live 30 minutes away, it was a getaway night I’d go back

Derek

Our room was immaculate, like brand new!! The bed and comforter was super comfy, hotel was quiet etcFrom the time we checked in and were met by the young Valet Cam (he was excellent), till the time we checked out our 2 day stay was perfect I highly recommend this hotel

I’ve stayed at dozens hotels and always got Club/Executive Lounge access Not once have I gone into a lounge and them tell me the available drinks are Apple Juice and WaterWho in their right mind would pay for a club access that doesn’t serve quality breakfast and have cocktails? This hotel wants to trick you into thinking the club access is what you’d normally expect and it’s a bait & switch

Not only that, they told me my room was being cleaned when I called an hour before and then suddenly upon arrival the room is no longer available but a smaller room on the unrenovated side of the hotel isWe go to check it out and saying it was disgusting is putting it nicely Only after an hour of arguing with them, did my room that I paid for magically become availableThey tried the bait & switch twiceThis hotel management should be ashamed of themselvesNext time I’ll just stay at a Marriott or maybe even a Budget motel because here you pay $560+/night for stained windows, carpets and people’s hair/spills in the bathroomI can’t give this any less than 1 star It deserves negative stars

Quaint, old guesthouse Definitely a viable option for your hotel dollars over the chains They weren’t really sweet up for business travelers though as the desk is not continually manned and breakfast doesn’t start until 8

My room was large and clean, albeit with a very small showerRecommended

I have only eaten once there and that was for Thanksgiving The table decor was interesting and they used real acorns in their decorations I had to keep my very young son from playing with them

The food was good This was years agoI visited during the free 🆓 comic book day that was happening across the state I ran into an old friend and we got caught up on events The room for the convention, that Jetpack Comics Ralph DiBenardo was in charge of, seemed a little small, but, the outside was also being used as well Nice looking garden Decent amount of parking 🅿️Good place to rent space for a medium to large gathering

I’ve been spending weekends at this Inn for a little while now I live with 6 other people and need some time to myself occasionally and so far have been extremely pleased with the accommodations as well as the staff Unfortunately yesterday my experience was not so great

The manager was on duty at the desk and booked my room Ground floor, which I don’t like but was too tired to ask him to change it as he was handing me the already activated keys and I just wanted to get some sleep To my great disappointment, when I got into my room, it was a room for someone with special needs The bathroom was enormous but with nothing in it Assistance bars all over the walls, no counter space whatsoever except just enough to surround the sink My feet didn’t even touch the floor when I used the commode The bar in the closet was about 2 1/2 feet off the floor so my clothes were touching the ground The bed felt like this mattress had been there for quite some time and the rugs were worn I mentioned to the manager that I didn’t like the room and his response was “Really?” That’s it Really In my experience it’s procedure to inform the guest if you can only offer a room other than what they are requesting I’m sure it would be a great room, excepting the mattress, for someone in a wheelchair, but I am not, and now I am not comfortable renting here as I believe the management has no interest in pleasing the guest, only in getting as many rooms filled as possible in any way he can I’d also like to add that I’ve never had a problem with any other desk clerk They are all very pleasant and willing to accommodate I’ve only had one other complaint when staying there and was immediately offered another room But as I was able to fix the problem myself, I didn’t take it But it was nice to be given the option I would never had accepted the room I stayed in last night, had I been informed before checking in Sadly, I’ll be looking for something else for my weekends in the future Although I enjoyed most of my stays, I feel that if management doesn’t care about the guests comfort, there can only be more problems in the future
