The golf merchandise forSale was dated Not a good experience

This is an honest opinion of my experience staying at the Pine needles lodge and golfing all 3 courses The Needles, South course, Mid Pines

The lodge and facilities are aged but it kind of adds to the history of the place There were updates being done during our stay getting ready for the LPGA open this June Our room was nice, suited our stay, we had a putting green out our back door so that was nice The lodge it’s self is OK, you kind of feel like you are walking into 1975 when you walk in The best part of this place is the staff Everyone with 1 exception was great and ready to help in anyway Sharon and the bar staff are top notch I mean so polite, funny, you can tell they love their jobs and work nonstop I can’t remember his name but the general grounds guy was super polite, answered every question we asked and made it a point to check in with us to see if we needed anything Thanks pal Really the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because I was told after my 7pm round, I could not eat dinner because the cook had to many orders in As a guest I felt let down, but Sharon made it work… We had great salmon dinners that night Also it would have been nice to know 2 of the 3 courses were cart path only Just would have been nice to know before I spent 2k that I was going to be carrying my bag 15 miles to play… Needles and Mid pines up hills, down hills, on slow greens I was so looking forward to putting theses great fast greens They were maybe a 9-10 speedThe courses: South pines: awesome visually, new renovations make this place awesome to view and harder to play Bunkering was incredible and elevation gave us the 3 D view Better have a good sand game Mid Pines: great course and player friendly but not quite up to the other 2 Needles: great course, best of the 3, awesome greens, long holes, fair landing areas Lots of elevation and creative shot making a must All of the greens were super slow while we played because of the time of year March 24th 2022 Also be sue of the Womens Open scheduled for June it was cart path only on both the Needles and Mid pines courses which sucked because you can’t get yardages unless you wanna walk for ever to check and then get clubs so better be prepared to walk In all it’s a beautiful place, great staff, awesome golf, and peaceful Oh and TPC Sawgrass wasn’t bad either the week before Premo … Sunk a 66’ putt on 17 for a par Lol Shot 98 Stadium course if it’s your first time, use a caddie Way worth it Mine was once ranked 7th USA amateur golfer New his stuff

The North & South Bar

how lovely As advertised, the Manor is beautifully restored But not over the top or opulent Seems more of a functional elegance about itI had a ‘Brooklyn’ cocktail off of their house list Delicious! A well thought out and crafted drink The bar area still smells new, but I can see this is going to get very popular soon Never inexpensive (why 4 vs 5 stars) at a Resort property, but it seems at least they’re trying to make it worth your money

I wish I’d had more than one night at this gracious Southern Inn It’s right in the heart of a wonderful town with great food and great people, and is well appointed with the most charming receptionist Bed and linens were as comfy as can be, and as a writer, I just loved this antique historical desk in my room and the tassel system for housecleaning

Charm around every corner!

Addam Chipps (Broken Bushcraft)

This hotel has a nice southern charm to it and the staff is extremely friendly The beds are uncomfortable and have trenches where thousands of people have laid before We tried turning the mattress but it did not help

The HVAC does not work very well Our thermostat in the room was set at 68 and the temperature was 75, there is a window A/C unit but it did not help Every night was sweaty and uncomfortable One of the worst nights I have spent in a hotel The breakfast as sub par and you would do better going to one of the restaurants down the street For the price of the room the only benefit is the bar with its entertainment If you are visiting Southern Pines stay at an air B&B or another hotel

Caroline

My husband and I had a wonderful time at The Jefferson tonight; however, my one-star review is intentional and deserved The lady at the outside bar named Chelsea was beyond rude and uninviting I am a 30-year-old woman trying to enjoy a date night with my husband, and she would not allow us to have two drinks to include water without him physically walking up

When I expressed surprise and negativity to the 2009-crimped hair- bartender, she threatened to have me thrown out So much for a laid-back date night… This woman’s personal life clearly followed her into this work shift Beware of Chelsea the bartender she is mad at more than just the customer!

Out of all of my hotel stays this one was by far the worst(I travel for my job)I really wanted to like this placeThankfully I only stayed for one night in a king suite

My room was on the very corner where they were doing renovations My room was also on the bottom floor which meant when the workers would take their breaks or whatever they would stand right outside my windowThat would’ve been fine except for the fact that my room didn’t have privacy curtains and my suite has two huge windows One in front of my bed and the other in front of the living room areaAs a traveling young woman that is alone this was very alarming to me I ended up grabbing some of the extra linens and clipped them on to the sheer curtains in the room for a little bit of privacyIt’s funny bc when I first walked in I noticed a binder clip on the curtains and found that odd Guess someone else had the same ideaThat was the main thing that really had me upsetHere’s the little thingsMy room smelled like mustard Like someone straight up smeared mustard everywhereThe ac and the toilet were having a tug of war on which one could make the loudest most annoying noisesI went to close the bathroom door and noticed how poorly it was installedPutting lipstick on a pig is NOT renovating That is obviously what is going on here

Our stay at Pine Gables was incredible The home itself is grand with a giant wrap-around porch, tall ceilings, intricate architectural detail (that the host herself has restored and preserved) and beautiful gardensThe Gable’s host, Mollie was accommodating & welcoming, an incredible cook and a pleasure to visit with

Our room was spacious, clean, carefully decorated, and there were even fresh-baked cookies waiting for us (her grandmother’s recipe) The B&B is within walking distance of some great antique stores, a coffee shop, restaurants (and ice cream), a music venue and some beautiful parks and historical neighborhoods to stroll through We had such a nice stay in Aberdeen Thank you, Mollie for sharing your amazing space with us!

Kelsey Ryan

Mollie was an excellent host We are local and needed a place to stay due to our home not having any power from a storm My family of 4 stayed comfortably in a very clean room with two beds and a private bathroom

My kiddos stayed occupied thanks to the tv and wifi Mollie also brought us muffins and juice before bed which was incredibly welcome Very close to coffee shop, restaurants, and shoppingWe will definitely be back and recommend family and friends visiting from out of state to do the same!

Trishagail

I’m just in awe!! My visit to Pine Gables was amazing!! Miss Mollie goes above and beyond being a host It’s all those little touches that make a difference in a stay – and Mollie has added plenty of little touches The room was exceptionally clean and everything I needed was provided

There were even two home made cookies waiting in the room when I arrived The gourmet breakfast is wonderful – Mollie is a very talented and creative cook No continental breakfast served here; you sit down at Mollie’s dinning table and share with other guests If you stay more than one night, don’t expect to have the same thing twice She creates a delicious and different breakfast each morningPine Gables adds definition to the phrase; ‘Come as guests, leave as friends’

Quaint luxury hotel that does show some its 125 yrs!! =) Had mold on the bathroom ceiling and the bed was way too soft for us

opinionKinda difficult getting bags in and outno cart availableThe downstairs restaurant was top notch!! Only issue there was we had to choose a 3rd option for a bottle of wine due to inventory but that’s everywhere!! Service was great as was the food

Daniel Mcdermott

The holly Inn is a beautiful, qaint building situated in Pinehurst The architecture is nothing short of amazing, the same goes for the rest of PinehurstWhen you visit the tavern, you’re served homemade chips

And the food is incredibleIf you need anything, even the slightest thing, the personnel at the reception will do their best to provide excellent service and find a solution for you and make you feel welcome You’re especially lucky if you happen to encounter Gabriela at the desk She went up and above to help meI highly recommend a stay here

Brian Thompson

The food was mediocre, I ordered a double cocktail and received a watered-down single in a 9 oz glassAs I was paying the bill I noticed there was a service fee which equaled 18% of the bill, I asked the waiter if this was the tip He said no he only gets 10% of that service fee

I tipped him over 25% of the bill after I was informed that that was not a tip I think it is unconscionable for the Holly Inn to add an 18% surcharge to our bill and say it was for the upkeep of the hotelVery misleading and very deceptive on the part of the Holly inn when they are paying their servers $213 an hour and then 10% of in our case an $1163 surcharge or $116 which most patrons will assume is a tip I’m curious if the full surcharge is being reported as part of the servers wages (I may have to call a friend or two in Raleigh)It is even worse when the servers are instructed not to explain the surcharge and are instructed to just let it beI cannot 100% say if the server was being honest but can definitely say I will not be back Mostly because the surcharge wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu or anywhere else

We had the sweetest 1 year anniversary trip here We love pinehurst but magnolia Inn made our trip above and beyond what we expected It’s within a very short walking distance to everything

Couldn’t imagine our two night stay being better!! My wife wanted coffee, and so one of the workers took us downstairs, showed us their Italian espresso maker, and even made us a couple of espresso shots even when the restaurant was closed How welcoming We felt warm and welcoming vibes our entire stay and we will 100% be coming back Thank you Magnolia Inn for your 5-star service

Raphy Weizman

We stayed at the magnolia Inn from July 23rd thru July 26 for 3 nights We ordered 2 Deluxe rooms and we were very disappointed at the rooms The rooms were antiquated, windows were shut and we could not open them, The Ac needed to be adjusted from the corridor and somehow it did not work and we froze for two nights until we asked someone to shut the louvers

The covers were dirty with nail polish and were not cleaned as promised We could not get into the balcony from the second floor and the only thing that we were pleased with the housekeeper Pam and also with the breakfast crew We paid $1044 for the two rooms and we were extremely disappointed One more thing, Our unit was above the kitchen and not only the smell was there at all times but also in our opinion, it was fire hazard and I am surprised that the Fire department whom we were told were there did not bother to open the windows

This was the nicest, cleanest,Hilton brand hotel, I’ve ever stayed at My mother and I stayed a few nights due to a family member’s hospital stay nearby It far exceeded our expectations

The hotel was great but what made it the best was a staff member, Jessica She was so kind, personable and went above all to make our stay exceptional, especially considering the circumstance We’re both very pleased with our stay and if we ever happen to be in this area again, we’ll certainly be back, and hope that Jessica is there to greet us

Deanna

This hotel is absolutely beautiful, and located in a fantastic location close to all the golf course in southern pines and Pinehurst Our room was huge, with a fireplace , eat in kitchen, dining room, and all of the amenities you would need away from home We were welcomed so graciously by the staff , and had a great stay

We had the king suite, and were satisfied to say the least I was definitely impressed The breakfast was fantastic , especially for buffet style! I would have paid extra for that Thanks for the stay

Erica Clesse

As a frequent traveler, I find that most hotels are similar and I am rarely impressed With that being said, this Homewood Suites is a hidden gem The rooms are average and what you would expect from the brand, clean and comfortable; however, the employees are what sets this place above the rest

From the moment I checked in, every employee I encountered was outstandingLawrence, is the hotel bartender and is a SUPERSTAR! He full of local knowledge and all around fun facts Although it is a small bar, he does an amazing job of keeping the small bar full and lively!Chevell is an absolute doll and has the best personality I feel like I have known her for years! Rhonda runs the evening social and was so funny and attentiveKelvin is a Jack of all trades He will take you anywhere you need to go on the shuttle and pick you up when you’re ready to come back When he’s not driving, you’ll find sprucing things up, with a smile on his faceThey all work as a team and it’s employees like these that take this hotel to a higher level I will definitely be staying here again

Rooms are clean, and provide everything you need Mattress for some reason was the as comfy as have come to expect with a Marriott propertyAppreciate the eco friendly shampoo, conditioner, bodywash dispensers

Staff very nice Pool good A bit small for lap swimming, and wished they would open the pool a bit earlier in the am, as I am a morning lap swimmer, and it was one of the reasons I booked it Overall a good stay

Rod Poole

I’m a big fan of Marriott properties because of their high standards This is another great hotel, with excellent staff in a good Pinehurst area location We’ve stayed here on 3 other occasions

However, I’ve given it only 4 stars for one reason – the mattresses ate aging out and need replacing I don’t recall any this soft, meaning without support, at a Marriott property Be mindful of thatOtherwise all good! The daily breakfast is as good as it gets and the rooms are very functional If not for the mattress, I could live here comfortably for a couple of weeksAnd note, Marriott staff is always well trained and friendly

I enjoyed my stay here The bed was more comfortable than the last few Marriott hotels I have stayed at for business trips The lady up front was very kind

If I could remember her name I would share it because she was very hospitable The room felt clean for the most part and I enjoyed the layout because I could do my work at the desk provided Walking distance of several restaurants within the parking lot The fitness center is tiny! Only negative I can think of Would stay again

Cori Wilson

This place is stunning! The beds made us never want to leave: the pull out couch was surprisingly comfy for the kids; plenty of room for our pack n play for our little guy; the wardrobe has a lock box; the carpets were so clean we didn’t mind our babies crawling on them; the shower was like a spa experience; don’t worry about toiletries because they supply regular sized bottles of Dove shampoo, conditioner, and body wash; the pool was warm on a cool night and fool on a warm night; breakfast was incredible (pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, omelets, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, muffins, the best cinnamon rolls you’ve ever eaten); all amenities for fabulous and clean; Ms Money was so sweet to us as soon as we arrived, and she was so accommodating anytime we asked for something (which was a few times); the entire staff was so pleasant, especially the sweet woman in the breakfast area (she kept everything hot and ready)This hotel is less than an hour drive from the Asheboro Zoo (our destination) It is well worth the drive to stay at this luxury hotel

We are thinking of making it a tradition to stop here ok the way home from the beach to stay here and go to the zoo!

John We

We stayed there for 6 nights The lock of the room never work properly The front desk needs to rekey every day, and we need to try over 20 times to open the door

In the last night from 5pm, the lock broken down, and we were not able to get inside the room The hotel doesn’t have maintenance guy on site, and just told me to wait for their maintenance till next day to open the door, which means we can’t access our belongings in the room for the whole night In the end, I have to call an outside locksmith to open the door at my own cost The hotel doesn’t want to pay for the locksmith When we check out 9 am the next morning, their maintenance guy never shows up Very bad place to stay, their front desk clerk and managers are very cold blooded They don’t care about the guests at all

The owners accommodated our VERY last minute request for two nights at the Inn We actually were offered the cottage–an incredible updated detached garage that has been restored into a stunning, warm and modern studio apartment The king bed was comfortable, the hospitality and service were unmatched

We were able to choose our breakfast time–and each morning we were greeted like royalty! The breakfast was probably the best I’d had at an inn ever–and that is saying a lot since I professionally plan events and review hotels/inns for a living! You will not be dissapointed I am already trying to work out how I bring my next corporate event to this wonderful space 10/10!!

The Duncraig went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend spectacular Caroline and Don are not just proprietors, but the heart and soul of the Duncraig They are vital to what a wonderful experience it was to have them host me, and my family, as the bride to be before my big day, as well as my husband and I following our wedding

I would recommend any bride make the Duncraig part of your wedding It’s big enough to host a reception on the manicured grounds, but also very intimate with a luxurious private honeymoon suite Additionally, any traveler looking for the southern charm of an immaculately refurbished manor in the best historically preserved town in NC should put the Duncraig as a must stay The hospitality, food, and atmosphere were 5 out of 5 Thank you Caroline & Don, we can’t wait for our next visit!

We traveled here for a softball state tournament, which is 15 minutes from the Moore County Complex! We blocked off rooms for two of our teams and enjoyed our stay The staff was very friendly and helpful when needed! The breakfast was good each morning, my only complaint is they need another waffle maker and possibly move it to the end of the counter and not in the middle of everything! Multiple people were waiting for waffles and it takes 2 1/2 minutes to make one, which can be time consuming when you have to get to the ball field by a certain time I loved that snacks and bottled water was available in the front lobby for free

Helped having a snack while sitting at the field since the concession stand did not offer much during the games Our room was clean and any towels/rags needed they were brought to us or left in our room while we were gone! Washer/dryers work great, we had to use those a few times washing uniforms for games You’re near shopping/restaurants as well if you turn to the right leaving the hotel! I enjoyed our stay here and would stay again if we’re in the area

Love of photography

Check in was great, Ms Jessica and supervisor (gentleman’s name starts with a D, sorry I forgot the name) they both were kind and went above and beyond The first room we checked into was horrible It was a double room, we walked in to see 1 bed was made and 1 bed looked like someone had slept in it

Then there was a wooden hanger that was hanging in the window We went back to front desk to switch rooms The front desk supervisor (D) called the housekeeping manager, she went to our new room to inspect it before we went up She came back to front desk and said everything was good My husband walked into our new room 330 first, he checked everything out He seen a huge toenail on the floor by the bathroom sink and threw it away quickly before I seen it (he knew I wouldn’t have stayed in that room and didn’t tell me until we were leaving the hotel) Then we were getting dressed and I needed my clothes ironed, my husband took the ironing board out of the closet and it was completely broken My issue is, the housekeeping manager and another housekeeper apparently inspected our room before we walked in and said everything was good So your housekeeping manager either needs more training on inspection of Marriott hotel rooms or she just doesn’t care The vent in our bathroom had a bunch of putty all around it and looked messy This entire hotel is long overdue for a make over and upgrades The ac will not stay on unless you move around, so we were hot while trying to sleep, unless you turn the air down to 67 and wake up to an ice cold room, makes no sense This is the most horrible experience I’ve ever had at a Marriott Springhill Suites, I just hope the issue with your housekeeping department gets resolved And upgrades to the entire hotel are done soon

We had to ask 3 times to get our room serviced The sheets were not changed on our bed The staff was very friendly and helpful

I do love that they always had a tub full of ice filled with water as you came in the door If given a choice, we would not stay there again Overall maintenance on the interior was not kept up;wallpaper was torn in several different places Doors were scuffed and dirty Very poor general maintenanceThere was a SINGLE VERY SMALL drawer for 2 of us to unload our suitcases We stayed there for 3 days There was hardly and Counter space in the bathroom Hotel was dingy

Nice hotel, lots of history The hot water was out for 6 hours, so that sucked The restaurants are okay

Breakfast buffet is great if you are a big breakfast eater, otherwise order off the menu or try one of the coffee shops in the village It’s an old hotel so expect little annoyances like thin walls, a huge gap under the door that lets the light from the hall in all night and a tight fit between shower door and toilet The staff is well trained and helpful In the future I’ll explore nearby options
