We just enjoyed a too-short one-night stay having flown into Jacksonville and heading north to Savannah and beyond Our room #207 was very spacious and comfortable Loved the wet bar with sink and mini-fridge

Exciting to see the lighthouse from the upper floors Easy walk to pier and village restaurants Nice pool area Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and welcoming During our short stay we enjoyed lunch at Barrier island Brewing, Happy Hour and dinner at Mullet Bay, and breakfast on the patio at Palm coast coffee( the hotel offers a continental breakfast but we did not see it since we wanted to go out) Very fun stay!!!

Ashley Danielle Attaway

Stayed in room 102, it was great cause of my dad’s foot issues and it wasn’t far to go We had a small bathroom, but there was another bathroom right down the hall so that helped The beds were really comfy

There is a really nice coffee maker with great hot chocolate in the lobby All the staff is extremely nice, and we loved Michelle on the night shift It’s right across from the museum, and within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, neptune park, and the pier

Suzanne Goard

We enjoyed our stay here Bedding was excellent and quarters very comfortable Location can’t really be topped

I really enjoyed my 5 day stay The room was very clean and modern The water pressure was great, the TV was nice sized and the location is nice

I will say the TV is not a smart TV and the volume stops at 8 (won’t go any lower unless you mute) It is a little strange that it doesn’t have its own drive way You have to go turn into an auto place to get to the hotel We passed it up the 1st time I used the mini gym while I was here and it had all I needed The pool area is lovely The complementary breakfast is fair This location offers cookies around check-in time and always has coffee, hot tea (variety of tea bags) and hot chocolate (packets) available and free all day/night I thought that was a nice touch I definitely recommend staying here

Margo Williams

Rooms was nice Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff was very niceFront desk not very friendly

Not welcoming at check in We needed utensils because the delivery company didn’t bring any with our delivered food Front desk girl gave us wooden stir sticks saying that’s all they had but we knew otherwise as they have a full breakfast bar every morningThe lights went out for hours early in the night No communication from the desk of what happened or the estimated time they would go on No offer of compensation

Overall, the location is hard to beat Spending $1700 on a room (Oglethorpe) for 5 nights, I expected better Upon arrival, we had to immediately switch rooms because the first was so moldy and stinky that it was unbearable

Thankfully they switched us to another room that didn’t smell, but it too had mold We found stains on the walls, skittles in the sheets Cleaning service (only trash and towels) was hard to get consistently Sometimes they only brought new towels and didn’t take the old, etc The pool area is nice, though only one of the pools is heated (not the kid pool) The drinks are insanely expensive I recommend you go to the liquor store down the block for 5x less in price The restaurant was a great location right on the water, but nothing to write home about The gym is small and also stunk horribly All in all, for as much as we paid, I expected a lot better I imagine that there are better places on the island to staySee attached photo of the ottoman in our room This is just an example of how gross the room was

Darlene Major

This was a 75th birthday trip for my hubby The resort itself is amazing with multiple choices in accommodations We stayed in an ocean front villa

Although very nice, it was dated Carpet, appliance and furnishings are in need of an upgrade The staff were all 1st rate providing recommendations when requested and overall friendly and professional You can’t beat the beach, pool area and other amenities The King and Prince is definitely on our return list

Susan Bryant

Unfortunately this time was not good We were incredibly disappointed, as we’ve been many times and this wasn’t even close to the past The rooms (two sets Oceanfront Villa and Two Bedroom Condo) had issues

Everything from refrigerator, bugs, TV, cleanliness etc The price for what you get is very sad Almost 15k for almost a week with one functional restaurant on life support, no amenities as the spa is permanently closed, no chairs unless you spend 40 a day and each drink was 1500 We love the location and in all fairness they are trying some, but really need to train their staff better as cleanliness is a basic thing If you can’t offer amenities then just reduce your price and the expectations won’t be so high We won’t be back unless some things improve overall I hope they do work to get better as this used to be an incredible property that has truly gone down hill

Rooms not really cleanNo housekeepingContinental breakfast 8

30 to 9am contains 4 cones for 30 guests, coffee and juiceVegetable garden not at all maintainedSimple average tasting mealsChairs on the beach brokenVery friendly staff that tries to keep the island‘s Mythos alive but you feel and see overall that it is on a very steep downstream!

Martin Kropp

We spent a week on the island and except for the mosquitoes it was wonderful But being a coastal marsh, some mosquitoes are to be expected They have many different activities to take part in daily

The staff are outstanding and took care of all our needs Chef Mike even blackened the Redfish I caught daily for their social hour before dinner Having miles of beach all to ourselves was very relaxing and pleasant

Tim

The staff is exemplary and would rival top resort personnel in Germany and Austria Everyone raves about the food and for good reason — it is fine quality The environment surrounding the camp/lodge is quite beautiful with abundant birdlife and the assorted alligators and armadillos

We stayed at Tom’s House with was rustic but fine for 3 night stay—the only issue was the AC which was so loud we couldn’t sleep with it on The tap water does have a bad smell and taste as it is drawn from a well and most likely has mineral deposits Luckily soft drinks, tap beer, and wine is free! There is a serious mosquito situation on the island, except on the beach or in a skiff, and it is necessary to apply insect repellent whenever you are outside I would also suggest bringing or buying (in the lodge store) Insect Shield clothing as you will benefit from it greatlyThe big and rather unpleasant surprise were the multiple stuffed dead animals displayed on the walls and in/on cases in the lodge There are many deer heads looking down at youOverall because of the staff and the birdlife it was a good stay and we will most likely return

We have stayed in our fair share of 5 star hotels worldwide and this one is definitely on our top 10 list This retreat is nestled on a 40 acre island and miles and miles of natural beauty When you drive onto the island you drive past beautiful marshes and bird sanctuaries

There are live oaks, streams, river, the Atlantic ocean We were in the South wing and the rooms were beautiful Our suite had a river view There are several dining options, nice bars and the facility Is very clean One morning I walked over to the beach club to watch the sunrise I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and we plan to return again and again

Absolutely fantastic! This is now our vacation place in the states! The pictures online do it no justice! The beach is spectacular! 5 star is well deserved The staff are warm and personable I feel like a Queen here

It’s so spectacular that I’m writing the review while I’m sitting on the beach! The solitude of sitting far away from the crowd is priceless It’s like your own piece of heaven!

The first night here the frogs were all croaking pretty loudly because it rained earlier But they were quiet on subsequent nightsThe spa is a place of serenity If you want to relax and be pampered, book your time in the spa Massage, wet sauna, dry sauna, jacuzzi, atrium with running water and sounds of bird chirping culminate in total relaxation and recharge

We were in town for the weekend and we sure wish we could have stayed longer at this cool little place The staff was super friendly, there was plenty of parking and the location was central to most of the great places to eat and go Mike in the pub was very personable engaging everyone that came in

The breakfast had a little bit for everyone and the idea of premeasured waffle mix was perfect The room was very clean, we liked the bathrobes in the bathroom and the table and chairs on the balcony was just right to have coffee in the morning We will definitely becoming back to the Village Inn when we come back to town

Jessi Knoof

This was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the laid back, southern hospitality of SSI The room was so comfortable and clean, we wanted to stay longer! The pub was awesome, and Mike made us feel like family The bathrobes in the rooms are basically a trap

The rooms are spacious and clean with great views of Main street Not sure what was going on with the air quality in the room though; both of our girls had trouble sleeping due to clogged nostrils They were fine outdoors but the moment we were inside our room, things would flare up

I love that there is a dishwasher and utensils It made eating in the room easier to manageWe met some very friendly families here, and the front desk personnel were always nice and welcoming Breakfast was great with a good variety Loved the endless supply of coffee and teaOur experiences at the pool were also great except for the gnats, which made it difficult to relaxOther than the few inconveniences we experienced, we had a great stay overall and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Home2 Hilton during our next vacation

Crystal B.

The receptionists were very friendly and helpful during the booking process, each time I called and when I arrived The hotel was clean but the hall carpets smelled like they need a good deep cleaning However, my room smelled fine and was very nice and spacious

The bed, bathroom, toilet, shower, kitchenette, etc was nice and clean!!! Although I didn’t eat breakfast, the food looked yummy and it was plenty of space to sit with your family or solo Clean the hall carpets and this rating could be five starsA+

chatting with us, making sure we had everything we need, even making up a lil cheese and nut tray for the kids after the kitchen closed Really appreciated that they (without our even asking) allowed kids to use up their time session in the Top Golf suite even though it extend beyond closing time So nice On top of that bardrinks and breakfast were wonderful We will be back

I stayed at the Westin Jekyll on two occasions over the last few months and I really love this property It’s located in the most ideal area, close to shopping, restaurants and island amenities The hotel has a top notch restaurant (the Reserve), a spacious pool bar where you can order drinks and various bar food, and enjoy the attentive and fun staff (Elijah and Addison)

Overall there seems to be plenty of space for the guest as it never felt overrun or crowded Go here to relax, recharge, enjoy the beach and walking paths

Lauren Aikens

This is my third time staying here and I understand there are staffing shortages, but I wouldn’t waste your time or money staying here because the price is just not worth it The cafe was closed which would have ben nice had the hotel put multiple signs up after giving us vouchers to the cafe Now they are under some construction that is directly above our room this morning

Seems as though they would have put us in a room away from the construction, but I guess not Honestly I don’t like this hotel, but my mother would prefer to stay here, but this is our last time staying here Also, for such a nice place they really could upgrade their gym as well

Quoting my wife “This place is so cute and quaint We have to come back and stay again ” the room at stayed in is as big as an apartment I lived in

Beds super comfy, the pool is great The text the staff for service is pretty cool The medium sized fridge was nice to have There is a number of places to eat and shop within a minute or 2 walk of the hotel We will be back

Anthony King

Beautiful new hotel Small but unique rooftop pool No more beach chairs and village shuttle transit included in the nightly rate

In my mind that’s a huge downgrade I still rate this a 45 star experience and a 35 star hotel The location is Not waterfront but very very prime I fear the new owners will drive the hotel quality into the ground

Dan W

Hotel Simone is working to be high end (in a casual southern Georgia way) and for the most part they pull it off In addition to the many positives mentioned by others, the check-in experience provided by Vonquez was over the top

enthusiastic, helpful, efficient But all staff we encountered were top notch Free or discounted access to King & Prince amenities was a nice bonus

Booked the 3 round package at each of the courses Seaside first then Plantation and then Retreat Seaside was in great condition but the round took nearly 5 hours

Plantation was in similar condition but took 5 hours Retreat was not in great condition and was slower through 9 so we quit Beautiful hotel but will not be back Play is simply too slow There should be no 2-balls and 12 minute intervals

Greg Jackson

My wife and I have spent the last decade celebrating New Year at the Lodge and it has been an amazing experience each and every time The property is immaculate and the staff is so friendly and inviting that it feels more like going home than to a resort I struggle with speaking to my colleagues about the property, because I want to keep this piece of heaven to myself, but I cannot help but to share my experience for others to have as well

The staff was very friendly Room was very nice overlooking Marsh Location was great

However you need to watch billing practices We stayed in February and I was billed twice Had to have it removed and they were great about it But in April I was billed again!! And I didn’t stay there at all at this time!! Kind of ridiculous that they couldn’t seem to get the billing right?!!

Jada Webb

There was loud construction! They did not have information on the website about any construction We were on the 1st floor and could here every step the people upstairs took There were children running back and forth constantly

It sounded like an herd of elephants We asked to be moved and the front desk said they were booked A quick search on the website determined that was untrue No housekeeping services We stayed three nights no fresh towels offered, when we requested 4 towels we were given 3 I would not recommend this place to an enemy

I was recently there for a training conference and thought the place was beautiful and the staff was always very pleasant and accommodating They served plenty of good hot food and cold beverages buffet style with a huge dining room overlooking the water with lovely music playing on the piano in there The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable and the showers were always hot and came out of the shower head nice and strong, but not so strong it rips your skin off! The room’s mini fridge was super tiny, though, so keep that in mind when planning your stay

They had plenty of rooms for meetings and trainings and a great place for large group meetings where they will even bring in more food so you don’t have to go to the dining hall and you can have an eating meetingKeep in mind, this place often requires a great deal of walking with not a lot of parking However having recently had foot surgery, the staff was able to offer me several different options for getting around easier They offered a wheelchair and since I don’t have the upper body strength for that, they even arranged to have the maintenance man pick me up and deliver me to my next meeting on a golf cart That was above and beyond helpful for me! I truly appreciate that kind of service! The only negative part of my 4-day stay was that the majority of our meetings had to be moved to different rooms with more space at the last minute and we spent a lot of time and energy running back and forth from building to building which was very difficult for me personally, but somewhat understandable with such a very large group and so many different training options to choose fromOverall the trip was great and it is a beautiful place on the water with moss hanging from the old trees and church bells ringing out the hour and ringing snippets from classic hymns floating through the air A very peaceful environment I would absolutely do it again and recommend it to a friend

brogabe

I’ve stayed at Epworth By the Sea on several occasions over the years I have been pleased for the most part The last stay, however, I wasn’t pleased

The room I stayed in had bugs Lots of them If my wife had been with me she would not have stayedThe food in the dining hall is good The grounds are beautiful as are the views It’s a good place to relax and reflect

Ahna Phillips

I was in the lobby when the person with the moldy room came in to request a new room The staff was rude; she did not acknowledge even the remote possibility mold could be present The staff person snipped at the older lady insisting that because there was no carpet anywhere in the room these was no possibility mold could be present

I watched as her husband had an asthma attack in the parking lot The staff member showed no concern for the husband’s medical problem when trying to find new accommodations Her husband was an older gentleman who could have died easily in the parking lot The staff member remained unconcerned about the health risks of guests It is a beautiful facility; but if your staff does not even care about the health and welfare of guests it diminishes the overall experience All the female wanted was for the staff to say “I’m sorry” Instead the staff was yelling “I’m going out of my way to accommodate you; there are no rooms available on the premises” I thought it was deliberate and intentional that the female and her husband were placed in an unrenovated room

We will absolutely be back Thank you for an amazing weekend!

Budget quality at 5-Star pricesThe good:The restaurant on site, Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar, was excellent The food was great, the menu had variety, and the service was fantastic

This hotel is right on the ocean, with direct access from the hotel, to the pool, to the beach It’s all just steps awayThere are little shops and restaurants that are a five- to ten-minute walk north Tortuga Jacks is about a 15-minute walk, but it has a fun/casual vibe with live musicThe concierge was very helpful in getting some dinner arrangements bookedThe bad:The front desk seems understaffed or unprepared, not sure which They never seemed to have an answer related to anything with the hotel (particularly the shuttle that runs to the Jekyll Island Club)We accidentally left behind some articles of clothing, which the staff “couldn’t locate”, even though we told them the exact dresser drawer they were in It was evident that the cleaning staff kept them for themselves, and shame on us for forgetting them But disappointing for the money we paidBottom line:If you want beach-side accommodations, consider the Westin right next door If you want the historical Jekyll experience, consider the Jekyll Island Club (not the Ocean Club) If you want incredible service throughout at 5-star prices, consider Sea Island, which is just up the road

Over-priced for what it isHotel: The hotel itself is nice and has a nice scent when walking in Receptionist greets you as you come and go which is nice but when you enter and then head 5 feet to the elevator a greeting AND goodbye is unnecessary

Room: Room was a good size but there were water stains on the ceiling from what I can only guess is a previous or active leak They provided 4 tiny water bottles and then two $6 Evian bottles There are ice machines on the floor but no convenient place to get water before or after hoursRestaurant: Restaurant food is good but very overpriced for what it is and very limited in options Most of the food seems like diner quality (fries, chicken fingers, burgers, pizzas, etc) Some of the meals seemed like they were cooked from scratch but it was a toss-up; and for the price you would expect better Selections are very limited and surprisingly not many seafood options They say they recommend reservations but the Resy app showed nothing available Heading down the the restaurant and the place was a ghost-town Not sure what the deal wasThe restaurant doesn’t open until 8am so if you want something other than the provided in-room k-cup “coffee”, head to the Westin next door and get some Starbucks

Just an outstanding place with the best hotel staff I’ve ever met Ms Win, Patrick, Kayla, Will and the housekeeping manager (didn’t catch her name but she was so good to me) just went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible

I fell sick during my stay and they were all so nice to me, Ms Win was an angel and put a little care package on my door St Simons is a beautiful island and this is a great hotel with real Southern hospitality, a rare gem Thank you for making my stay so special

I’ve stayed here twice, totaling two weeks The staff could not be friendlier, housekeeping or front deskRooms were clean and well stocked with dishes upon my arrival both visits

The fire pit and pool areas offer great views (pool especially if you are an aviation lover as I am)My reason for four stars over five is during my second stay I requested one visit from housekeeping When they cleaned the room, they left puddles of brown water in the bathroom The whole room smelled horrid I cleaned it up myself with one of the provided towels After that, the floor was still sticky but at least it didn’t smell badI would stay here again But I would for sure bring up my problems with house keeping before requesting it

The hotel did not allow for a contact-less check in which is the only reason I installed the App That meant I had to get my family back in the car, drive around the building, and wait in line to check inIf you are staying and hope to use the pool – don’t plan on it

The pool is RIGHT next to jets taking off the runway and the noise is unbearable at times Scared my little girl enough to not want to use the pool anymoreBreakfast was okay but it would be nice if they varied it somewhat day by dayI don’t understand why the bathroom has a sliding door that doesn’t close all the way Who doesn’t understand the need for privacy in the bathroom?

Incredibly spacious suite with two bathrooms, massive balcony, close to beach, and easy walk to restaurants and shops As other reviewers have mentioned, the property is need in maintenance When we arrived, the elevator was out of service

Looking in past reviews this is a frequent occurrence The rooftop lounge was not open on Friday due to a broken pipe On the upside, the price for the room is reasonable, especially when compared to the properties near by

Carolyn Morales

Other reviews have said that updates could be done That’s true, but it’s still pretty amazing Though for the price

They weren’t ready for the check-in, the AC in the bedroom wasn’t working, and we never did figure out the tvHOWEVER, the tub is amazing, there were two bathrooms (!!), And the bed was amazingly comfortable We walked a half mile to a craft Fair at the pier, and walked the other way to Barrier Island Brewing Perfect locationProbably look for a cheaper place next time

First of all the front desk folks and the manager are amazing! Super welcoming and helpful They had elevator break this week and us being on the 4th floor was quite challenging But not much you can do

And they were very helpful!Few things to note It’s under a new management so I’m sure things will get better But the floors inside needs to be cleaned more, our feet were dirty just walking inside bare-feet It’s not a first line hotel and there is no pool!! And no breakfast serviceOtherwise it’s great, not sure I will count it as a 4 star

I can’t review this place for the room or service as we didn’t stay here but we did a day trip involving walking the property, reading the historical boards, visiting the shops, piers, lunch at “The Pantry”, as well as admiring the bar and various housesThe property is amazing and their old oaks are absolutely amazing It was such a nice easy day strolling the property

The pantry was a fun lunch visitThe pier was beautiful even w the low tideAbsolutely recommend visiting

The staff is very friendly in the service is excellent They go out of the way to accommodate you as best as possible since I believe they were understaffed The property is gorgeous and very very quiet place to settle down for relaxation

The bartender William, at the pool provided excellent service and drinks Ashley provided excellent service at the restaurant and pool and other facilities on the property of which he provided services to the tenants I found it if needed Bed and towels and toiletries needed on a daily basis you would have to request that which we were not aware of I found the cleaning staff Is needing extra help to provide these daily room services The breakfasts provided in the main restaurant and pantry were great We will visit this resort again because my wife and I both had a great time!

Rob Poulsen

Low-key check-in, bar staff was helpful, hotel staff were wonderful, I 100% recommend Book earlier than you expect, because it’s very popular! The breakfast in the dining room was only okay, but I am chalking that up to lack of staff

I’ve had many real estate friends say it’s usually a great experience (The staff that we interacted with for the breakfast were very good, helpful, and knowledgeable, but were just stretched too thin)If you’re expecting to do dinner at the wharf restaurant, go early The food is good, seasonal, and well-prepared, but limited to what they have on-handthe staff will do their best to make your experience one to positively remember!

Location, Location, LocationPro: This place is so close by and convenient to everything that you want to do in St Simons The Pool area is really nice to hang out at and the fire pit is really nice to sit around at the end of the evening

Con: The room was missing a lot! Our room was a (Queen room) we had 3 chairs in it which was not needed at all One chair was a nice cushy sitting chair while the other two were what was like a kitchenette chairs The one cushy chair of been fine and another table top in place of the two plastic chairs in there would of been so much better for us to put our stuff on top it to get it off the floor There needs to be way more hooks, towel hooks in the bathrooms in order to hang and dry and our towels and to hang a make up bag or toiletry bag There is no behind the toilet shelves and only a small sink so getting ready ( as a woman ) with make up, skin care and hair products made it extremely difficult A lot of my stuff was on my floor and to use I had to bend over to grab what I need The AC wall unit in our roomRoom 18 was so loud it made sleeping very difficult I don’t think we got a good nights sleep at all It would turn on and off all night and it was so loud The wall unit needed to be higher up in the room not at eye level The AC was very annoying and disrupted I think if there was another desk like table placed in the room and an over the toilet shelf and more towel hooks or towel rails it would of been a lot better and a lot more comfortableWe did have a great time and as mentioned above the Location was GREAT!!Thanks

Matthew Davison

The cleaning crew were friendly and helpful the rooms were well landlord painted heavily with some mold in the shower There was no kitchenette in the room only a microwave and Krueger and a mini fridge

It is right across the street from a popular spot on the island and well if you don’t like beaches this is your island the pool was nice and the exterior feel was decent just the inside of it was my only real issue

Kim Mason

Been here twice in the last 3 months and stayed in same room 15 Floor is filthy! Not sure if product or not cleaning 5 mins and granddaughter’s feet were black

Don’t walk on floor barefoot Let them know in April and still like that this past week Otherwise no complaints Hopefully they fix this issue Reported it to front office person Otherwise 5 stars!!!!
