Part of the reason why I’m rating The Palace so highly is due to the dedicated staff and overall services I book the stay, for my birthday, in advance and corresponded with the Chief Concierge, Jose He helped me find and book reservations for dinner and even picked up my birthday cake from a nearby bakery on my behalf

When I arrived to the hotel and checked in, the staff carefully transported my belongings to my room and placed it all in the right place I didn’t need to lift a finger Shout out to Ronald!!! My room was spacious, clean, and came with a decent view The other reason why my rating is so highly is due to the preservation and usability of the landmark space The Garden Court is breathtaking! I could sit in that area for hours I love the hotel’s history room and even the antique mailbox All of these area are accessible, which allows us to be a part of the hotel’s history The Palace felt like a home away from home, a dreamy reality, and a relic of time For the best experience possible: Please coordinate with the staff in advance, be kind, and let the team do the rest And at the end, pay the tip and say thank you! It goes a long way

The rooms are small but cozy Service is not great Asked for a couple of things to the reception and was never sent to the room

Locality is great You get a streetcar or a bus right in front of the hotel The lobby is awesome The mini hotel museum is cute There are few old artifacts kept around the lobby which reminds you of the long lost glory of this heritage hotel The in house swimming pool was awesome but the hot tub was not working You have to walk a lot to reach the lift lobby or to go to the ice machineSummary – Not worth the price tag

Stayed 3 nights here with my wife and kids Wonderful stay Location was fantastic

One day, we walked over to the Ferry Building for a great lunch at Hog Island If you drive, get SpotHero and get overnight parking at a close by garage for a fraction of the hotel price This hotel is iconic 19 former US presidents stayed here and there is a drink dedicated to each one The room we got was a double queen Not the biggest I have had but had 12 ft ceilings and seemed quite spacious Overall, fantastic hotel

We loved this hotel and the location Jonathan at the front desk was great He shared his favorite restaurants and was eager to make our stay/trip amazing

The hotel was generous with water and coffee and delicious cookies The lobby offers refreshing pineapple infused water which I’ll now be making at home The rooms had cozy bathrobes and two comforters on the bed so you don’t have to share I will definitely be coming back

Kim Menier

First time staying here and absolutely loved it! First off, 10 points for being so dog friendly – I mean they even had a stuffed toy dog on the bed 😆 the lobby and rooms are gorgeous! I stayed in a king bed suite and was more than enough room for one with lots of storage space I work in sales and am constantly on zoom and have always had issues with hotel wifi but not here!! Hotel staff were so friendly and even honoured my request for a late check out 🙂 location is in very close walking distance to union square Plenty of restaurants and bars near by

Will definitely be staying here again!

Ina Muri

I came on here to say that Jonathan at the front desk is absolutely wonderful! He’s very helpful, attentive, and is a great listener I love this boutique hotel chain I first stayed at the San Diego hotel and loved that one, although the San Francisco one is even more impressive!A note on parking:If you need to park your car nearby you will probably park it in an independent valet garage next door (no affiliation with the hotel) but the guy who runs the place is a nice guy and when I was there he charged $30 a day

A note on architecture:The building is designed such that some of the rooms have windows facing another part of the building very nearby (about 10 feet or so) These rooms are still great but if you are really hoping for a room with a view – maybe mention that when you make your booking

We received excellent service from the staff They were very friendly and flexible We wanted to run a quick errand before checking out and weren’t sure if we’d be back in time for check out

Prime location (facing the union sq), beautiful room, warm service The breakfast is really good, served at the beautiful oak room & grab-and-go breakfast is also tasty and has a good value With quite a history, the hotel is just beautiful

The bar on the ground floor is superb Such a pleasant experience I would love to come back!

Steven Tsang

This is a great historical hotel in the city but the service is not to the usual Marriott quality We had their 1 bedroom unit We asked for a roll-away bed because their website stated “no bed in sofa” but the guy who delivered the bed stated “sofa has bed” which was confusing

He also had an attitude since he had to take it back The sofa bed didn’t extend completely due to TV stand and was useless Luckily our kid was able to sleep on the sofa without issues There were no robes in the room with few towels too We requested more towels but took a few days because towels weren’t delivered Cafe Rito is convenient for a quite bite to eat I hope the service will improve to Marriott’s standards

This hotel delivered on the five star rating Pristine in cleanliness, lovely contemporary decor, stunning bathroom, delectable food (I’m not sure how they made fries taste that good but they did), and every single staff person I encountered was friendly, kind, and great at their job Truly though, shout out to the cleaning staff because everything was spotless

Four Seasons has set the bar extremely high I’m currently in another supposed 5 star hotel and the difference is stark I wish I were back at the Four Seasons!

Mariah Joseph

We had a wonderful stay at the four seasons Sf Our trip started with Annie greeting us at the front desk with a special treat for our daughters birthday and a little stuffed animal This instantly helped us to relax and feel at home considering we have been displaced from our home due to unforeseen construction during our daughters birthday

Annie ran back and forth to switch out our treats before we arrived in our room to make sure they were allergen friendly and double checked to make sure it was safe to eat, she was so quick and thorough which is so important when your little one has an allergy Annie started our trip out right and set our expectations high The rest of the staff and hotel continued to exceed our expectations with amazing room service, quick maintenance and house keeping etc We loved it so much we decided to leave our current hotel to go back and Annie was the one on the phone to help us! Amazing experience all around!

Alison M

I stayed at this beautiful hotel in downtown during a birthday California solo road trip in 2017 and highly enjoyed itI was upgraded to a beautiful suite with floor to ceiling windows and a stellar view for my birthday and had welcome amenities including a handwritten note and birthday cake in the roomMy package included breakfast and I had it in the hotel’s restaurant one day and another chose to have room service

Location is stellar and close to high-end shopping like Dior and others so I enjoyed walking the city and shopping right from the comfort of the hotel where I did not have to move to car and look for parking – which was great bc parking downtown did not look fun!Staff were, as always, welcoming and friendly and the beds were comfy and rooms were wonderfully appointed My suite was a haven for me, quiet and spacious with a huge bathroom and closet spaceValet parking is VERY expensive here – so if you don’t need to park a car – I would avoid it

What a fantastic experience Everyone who works here was absolutely fabulous – from check in, to house keeping, to the bartenders and the breakfasts staff The lobby is modern and inviting, the rooms are large and clean, bathrooms were immaculate, beds comfortable and breakfast delicious

They pay attention to detail and the value is unreal Happy hour nightly with 2 free drinks per guest(tip your bartenders!) and breakfast had a ton of options and was delicious(tip the folks working to clear r the tables!) The employees here work hard and seem genuinely happy to be there Highly recommend and would stay again

This was my first group event since March 2020 so I was a little tentative I received very credible assurances on the safety protocols and felt comfortable bringing in 25 corporate guests for 3 days The hotel appeared fully staffed (some don’t these days) and the group coordinator was helpful and competent

The rooms were updated, clean, and comfortable The restaurant offers an excellent, cooked-to-order breakfast I did one Italian buffet dinner which was delicious and service was flawless Embassy Suites continues to be my choice for corporate groups

Candice Bowen

Had the best time with my husband and son Beautiful modern style furniture Very clean and simple

They were so accommodating, hands down some of the best room service food I’ve ever eaten That says a lot we’ve traveled around the world They also gave us complimentary drinks (2) each which is typically unheard of drinks were perfect not too strong or too sweet We will definitely be returning

This hotel has some of the best service I have received, comparable to the Ritz! When I arrived I was promptly greeted with some deliciously refreshing champagne and was warmly greeted The rooms are beautifully decorated and have incredible Aesop shampoo/conditioner/wash The restaurants on site are delicious and equally detailed service

Five star service all around! My only disappointment is that the area of town is a little rough, definitely not somewhere you can walk alone at night The hotel has car service so not a huge issue but for solo female travelers just something to be aware of! Overall, definitely 100% stay there again!

Anastasia Lavrikova

New place in SF with a great rooftop bar The triangle corner suite is nice and spacious I wish there were more food options within walking distance, but it’ll take some time since the area just started being developed

Getting back to the bar They have a view of the city and the bay and an attractive cocktail menu—a perfect spot for one of those warm nights that San Francisco has in July or October By the way, make sure to make a reservation, especially on the weekend

Caroline Walz

just had the royal afternoon tea to say the service was exceptional would be an understatement the sandwiches were delightful and the treats were great, too! the only thing i would change would be the when the food was brought to us

the sandwiches and and desserts were served separately—which was a little strange as they are generally served together and that is what i prefer regardless, the ambience was so peaceful and quiet really, really wonderful definitely will be back!

I loved this hotel! I would say it’s almost perfect except for the parking fees I truly enjoyed the room and the bar and breakfast restaurant Delicious breakfast options

The pool had a little too much chlorine, so much that you could smell it on my skin for two days after The bed in our room was super comfy and the electric shades were a very nice touch The hotel was near shopping and restaurants The gift shop owner was lovely and informative All in all this was a great stay and I would definitely come back here again

Food God

Stayed here for 3 nights, I truly recommend that if your looking for a 5 star stay, with food and normal 5-star amenities, that you should NOT book this hotel Although this hotel has great history, and the lobby has a unique old design, there are several things that make this hotel more of a 3 star hotel First of all, there is no real breakfast, only breakfast I would get at holiday inn, old dry pastries, and tea

5-star hotel, without proper breakfast interestingIf your looking to have a good workout, think of another place to go, because the gym at the hotel is a tiny room with a few old machines, and surprisingly nothing else, it is a bit embarrassing to be honest Rooms are a bit dated, feel like there is something missing, a bit empty, although the bed is comfortableAnother thing, if you are a family, be ready to pay an additional $150 per guest! Per Night! A bit ridiculous Again, first impression of hotel is nice, old victorian house with history, lobby is unique, but service is quite bizarre and for all the reasons above, I would never come here again, and would never recommend anyone coming here Spend $500 a night at the Ritz Carlton instead, where you have real 5-star amenities

E. Miller

Absolutely beautiful old mansion with well-appointed, individually decorated rooms with art and antiques that you won’t find anywhere else in SFThe main issue is that there really isn’t anything to do nearby that is reasonably walkable It’s nice that breakfast is included, but with the bar/restaurant still closed, it’s extremely basic

Also, there’s nowhere to wind down the evening with a drink once you’re back to the hotel in the middle of nowhereI can definitely see the Mansion being perfect for wedding parties and groups of people for special events, which will hopefully continue to pick up as we get past Covid

Lisa Abaid

Omar and staff were excellent- warm and welcoming and incredibly helpful with airport transportation and anticipating our needs The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely welcome plate of fruit, snacks, fresh water, and a nice turndown service with slippers at the bedside and chocolates on the pillows Location was great, you can reserve a parking spot for $54 which is more than reasonable in SF

Bathroom was modern and had really nice amenities Would definitely stay here again

If you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night, the Gables Inn will do If you are looking for an “experience”, I recommend you look elsewhere!Rooms are badly outdated with tons of deferred maintenance Carpet was pretty badly stained in many areas

Very little in the form of amenities hereThe biggest issue for me was the non-existence of their famed “wine & cheese hour” or “delicious continental breakfast” Apparently, they quietly stopped offering these perks sometime in the past few months I re-checked their website and found no mention of wine hour or breakfast — that being said, it is ALL OVER THE INTERNET that they provide a wine reception in the evening and a nice breakfast in the mornings I know the hotel is not responsible for what others post online, but it seems a bit disingenuous to coast off of old reviews When I asked about breakfast, the lady working acted as if it was a ridiculous question… No explanation, no apology, not even a suggestion of somewhere to eat instead It really left a bad taste in my mouth, and next time I visit Sausalito I will be staying somewhere else

Sarah Emery

If I could, I would have stayed longer The Gables is set in the perfect location of town (walkability score 10/10) The staff are so accommodating and delightful

We stayed in the Magnolia Room – more than enough space Equipped a king bed, fireplace, tub with spa jets and a balcony with a beautiful view of the city Do yourself a favor and make a reso’ here

Janna Smith

I just found this place to be, okay I didn’t the staff to be overly friendly or supportive, and I personally did not find this place to be worth the price you pay I have found other places to be much more thoughtful and thorough about thinking through many of small details that make a stay pleasant/meaningful

For instance, I arrived to the room and it was set to 78 degrees, which was way too hot for my taste There was no way to cool the room down, given that there was no AC unit and if you opened the window it was next to a very loud outside fan of some kind There was also poor signage to the room I had, and no staff available for support upon arrival (because I arrived somewhat later in the evening around 8:45 pm)I think there could many improvements to make this place worth the stay and price

We have been traveling in the West for a week and this has been our favorite hotel The location was perfect for the town of Mill Valley allowing us to walk to town for coffee and dinner Additionally, it was just about 15-20 mins from Muir Woods

The staff both checking in and the breakfast crew were very welcoming and kind The rooms were quite comfortable and had a wonderful bath The free breakfast of salmon, bagels, oatmeal and coffee was the best we had We look forward to coming back on our next visitRecommend for great location, amenities, staff, and value Great choice for all

D. de Silva

Amazing staff here Brian/Bryan was awesome He constantly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, help us get settled, and ensure our stay was perfect

We had a wedding nearby, and therefore occupied about 10 rooms The Mill Valley Inn team made us feel welcome, and kept us cozy and comfortable Cleaning was timely, and thorough Continental breakfast each morning was solid The grounds are beautiful; with amazing trees, and outdoor spaces We utilized the beautiful wood bridge in the Inn for our wedding rehearsal 5 min walk to Old Mill Park, and about 5-8 minutes to the town center, outdoor art club, and the local grocery store Beds were very comfortable; high thread count sheets, foam and feather pillows The rooms varied, but most all had an amazing bathtub The tub was deep, and wide Cozy tub fitting for two Rooms were spacious There are some rooms that have porches that face the stairwell; with the elevator out, there was some traffic on the stairs Parking lot is a bit tight; there are two (one near the check in, and one near the rooms) Even though parking was tight, never had issues parking (just took a bit to slide into some spots) Staff was always helpful in navigating parking I cannot say enough good things about Brian/Bryan He is the man! Staff also helped us with reservations, printing, and airport transport Loved our time, and hope to be back soon!

Xochitl Gonzalez

The Inn is dog friendly and has places nearby for the dogs to walk There are also plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance There are some rooms that are on ground level and allow easy access to the outdoors, which is helpful for us because our dogs are getting on in years

The rooms are immaculately clean One of the best features is their pillows! I’m going to ask what brand they are because I want to get some for my own house

Ken and Alicia Lund

Stayed here for two nights Had high expectations and had those expectations met and often exceeded Great personalized service

The food offerings were very good and the quality of the food and the setting offered good value, especially in the lounge The hotel is relatively small, making it a more intimate setting The room was immaculately clean and comfortable There were some great custom touches that were greatly appreciated and our 7th floor room had a pleasant city and courtyard view

Mel Bar

It’s the Ritz Carlton They have a reputation to uphold and they did not disappoint The place reeks of old money – understated generational wealth

Alot of hotels in this category scream new money with their trendy decor and staff but this place doesn’t need to try; it just is The details scream luxury – turn down service, quality of in-room amenities, staff that knows your name without you having to tell them, plating of food, acknowledgement, but not over friendliness of staff this place has it all The lounge in the hotel lobby is a fabulous place to unwind, grab a bite, or watch the game Parallel 37 is great for breakfast but shines for private dining This place is like an oasis in an otherwise somewhat gritty downtown Five stars consistently!

Jill Vollbrecht

“Phenomenal” doesn’t begin to describe this hotel…hands-down, best hotelI’ve ever had the pleasure to stay in From the front desk to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping team, every person we chatted with was beyond amazing Helpful, pleasant, engaging, welcoming…we truly felt like we were returning home every time we came back

Location is spectacular, in a great, vibrant neighborhood within walking distance of many top San Francisco tourist attractions I’d come back in a heartbeat We had the privilege of staying on the club level, and Rudy, Starsky, Leo, Yvonne, and the team really went above and beyond the call of duty to get to know us and make our stay amazing

Wow! This is a really great hotel Small property with spacious beautiful and clean rooms The bed was maybe the most comfortable bed my wife and I have ever had the pleasure to sleep upon

The level of hospitality is very high here and so is the attention to detail The welcoming goody bag, with excellent wine and snacks and the morning breakfast are excellent amenities We stayed in a View King room which had a small balcony with unobstructed views of the San Francisco skyline and bay (picture is from our private balcony) Really no worries with booking this hotel, we will be repeat guests next time we choose to visit the Bay Area

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a boutique hotel, not part of an upscale chain I was pleasantly surprised Unlike a large upscale hotel chain, they delivered

Morning breakfast was on-time The room was comfortable We booked the largest suite with the large private balcony, and we liked it a lot Sausolito is not within walking or short biking distance There is no direct ferry connection either This helps to keep the very small business district relatively quiet

Big Mike

Been there a few times I’m kind of local only live a couple hours away Love to stay there when visiting angel island

Can’t beat enjoying a glass of wine on the deck looking at the night lights of sf and the bay Short walk to the ferry Great staff did however miss the wine and cheese hour this trip Loved the breakfast Now the negatives Which aren’t deal breakers I need and got a Ada room Sadly I have a lot of stuff and the end tables just don’t do it Need to be bigger, by the time you place a cpap machine lay out your meds ect I’m placing things on my wheelchair 2nd thing beds are to soft You sink down 4 inches Need to be a little firmer I would have loved the bed being a foot higher with my bum legs But split the difference 6 inches would have been helpful Something for them to consider Like I said not a deal breaker When I’m back that way I will be checking in again

My husband surprised me with a stay at the Inn Above Tide What a special place! The staff was very attentive and courteous, and every detail was well thought through A complimentary bottle of local wine and cheese was delivered to our room in the late afternoon as we watched the sunset from our balcony, and complimentary breakfast of our choice was delivered in the morning with a carafe of hot coffee

The location is the best of any hotel in the area The view from our private balcony of Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, the bay, and Angel Island was stunning It is close to the ferry landing, excellent restaurants and shops, and on the waterfront so you can watch the birds and sea mammals Don’t miss this place if you are looking for a special place to stay in Sausalito, just across the bridge from San Francisco You won’t be disappointed! Every detail was attended to without asking It is above and beyond a good hotel, it is exceptional!

The Inn is perfectly located on the water within walking distance of plenty of shops and restaurants All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating We were pleasantly surprised by how much food was included in the breakfast! The quiche was incredible and the pastries were excellent

The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable We’ll definitely stay here again when we visit Sausalito!

Five stars is not enough to explain how much I love this place! Just the views! OMG! The Views! From your balcony, you get sweeping vistas of the Bay, Alcatraz, and the San Francisco skyline You are literally ON the water! The rooms are super nice; some bathrooms have jetted tubs And the staff is so friendly and accommodating! They have a delicious wine/cheese reception (delivered to your room, since Covid), and an extensive, delicious continental breakfast buffet

I don’t even consider staying anywhere else I am here every single year PS: Sausalito is a much better choice than the city!

Beautiful condo, fireplace, master bedroom was what dreams are made of Free coffee in lounge Filtered ph balanced water machine for refillable water bottles Definitely a must stay Oh and shopping and restaurants in building and a short walk away from pier and much more

Tammy Parashis

A dream come true property, this is what service is all about The team at the Fairmont Heritage Place will delight your soulOutstanding 5 star experience

The service was impeccable from all staff members Initially, we only booked for a 2 week stay and kept extending, for another 5 months while we were remodeling our home We stayed in a beautiful 2 bedroom suite with high end amenities, including a full kitchen and washer and dryer in every residence, which is very difficult to find in San Francisco Along with my family being extremely happy with our stay, our dog had a fabulous time as well, as they are pet friendly and supplied him with a dog bed, dog bowls, and dog treats The doorman loved to give him treats as we would come and goBesides staying in luxury, you are in a prime and safe location, just upstairs from Ghirardelli Square You are also in close walking distance from Fisherman’s Wharf, North Beach, Fort Mason, and the Marina DistrictThe Mustard Terrace was our favorite part of the hotel It has spectacular views of Alcatraz, the bay and the world’s famous Ghirardelli sign above We loved hanging out on the comfy outdoor couches by the fire pit, day or night The hotel also offers a complimentary generous wine and cheese hour every Wednesday and Friday which was a wonderful perkWe can’t thank the entire staff enough who went out of their way to make our stay feel like home I can honestly say, the staff treated everyone like family! A few of them are Marco, Stephen, Aziz, Ryan, YuMi, Jean, Jason, Jeff, Asim, Lucia, Michelle, Johnson, Byron, The housekeeping team, Dallas, Karina, and Sarah And of course the managers Jonathan, Dan, and Jessica

We stayed here for two nights to do typical tourist things around San Francisco My family and I loved it! We were four adults (one couple, two singles) and the 2 bedroom apartment was plenty big enough with 2 beds and the sofabed Everything was clean and comfortable

We had a “city view” which faced Polk, but we could still see a bit of the bayWe also enjoyed the lounge areas outside with fire pits – although we couldn’t figure out how to start the fire pit on the second floorThe staff and service were great – everyone was friendly, we never once had to open the hotel’s main door, and we had someone check-in with us every day via text messageThere were only three cons IMO:1 We got lost when first checking in! The main entrance is on North Point/Polk You cannot access the lobby from Ghirardelli Square until you’ve checked in2 I wish the hotel room had some snacks For only two nights, we had a fridge/stove/oven, but no food! If we were staying for longer, we definitely would have grocery shopped3 During our second night (Sunday night), there was some street noise that was very loud and woke us up I think it was trash trucks In general the room had good noise insulation, but for some reason these trucks were LOUD!

Beautiful destination just a few miles North of San Fran Beautiful views of the Bay and Bridge Great food and service! The accommodations are very nice

Everyone is super friendly Did not give all five stars because not much for kids to do, hard to find Uber and everything closes on the early side I should have done more research will return better prepared!!!

Katharina Werner

Beautiful architecture, beautiful views but so outrageously overpriced for what you get Our room was scorching hot and there was an old portable ac unit in the closet but nothing hooked up Rooms also a bit outdated

Guests had to have previously made reservations to have breakfast at the restaurant, which gave it a really arrogant and inconvenient vibe There were no other food options around so only other way to eat was room service By the pool you can’t order any drinks and no one comes up to you with any kind of menu You’re basically ignored by the staff Don’t think I got a single hello from the people in the spa Only the valets greeted us very friendly For the money, absolutely insane

ruth nelson

The views are beautiful However I was booked into a bridge view room and upon arrival I was given a room with no viewDinner was very mediocre

Food is way overdone My sword fish was like rubberBreakfast the service was so slow but the food was OK I wish this place had better food and better service Not coming back

Highly recommend for weekend get aways and corporate events Would have preferred meeting room Junto to Brio but everything worked out really well! Staff was super friendly, approachable and accommodating Poggio//catering was fabulous! I usually have pretty low expectations for catering provided from a hotel but holy smokes was everyone impressed!

Prasad Srinivasan

Nice location, friendly staff Although we were in the second floor we could get a room with a nice view Public parking, if you find one -:) was cheap compared to many areas in SFO

Since the hotel is centrally located in the heart of Sausalito, we could walk to many of the restaurants nearby and didn’t have to spend time to finding a parking spot

I was traveling with our 9 month old, clearly carrying a rolling suitcase and his stroller Our room was located up a small staircase that required me to leave my baby in my room while I carried his stroller up and down The front desk did not inform me of this obstacle upon arrival so I did not preemptively ask for help and to traverse down to the first floor from the fourth floor with everything in tow to ask for help was too much

There was no elevator to this room, as pictured below Then, later that evening, the elevator broke down and I had to carry my baby down to the first floor from the fourth floor to get my food order While I was waiting for the order, another couple came in with a baby They asked if their room would have a separate seating area with a wall for their infant so they could allow the baby to sleep Kaylee (not sure of the spelling) at the front desk was unable to fully answer this and just said “I think so” She was clearly overwhelmed with other things, so I understand her response that brushed the couple off, but the couple also deserved her time and attention I share this because this is the second family with a baby who stayed the same time I did We were not accommodated at all and were not given complete information at the front desk about our room situationsWe ended up changing hotels for our second night We were not refunded for this second night (we were only requesting second night refund) Very disappointed with the way the hotel did not take ownership for thisI highly recommend staying elsewhere if you are traveling with family or if you need specific accommodations They do not personalize anyone’s experience and there are too many idiosyncrasies in the hotel to overcome
