We had an amazing stay at this hotel They were very accommodating to our family and our impending loss of a family member The staff members were all very courteous and helpful in any way they could be of service

Jan is the cook for the continental breakfast, and she is an amazing asset to this location The food was delicious and the variety we received each day was great! She is a loving hostess who strives to make you feel like you are in a home away from home!I highly recommend this location!

cody

The only reason I would go to this hotel again would be to see Jan the breakfast attendant She was so friendly and welcomed our children trying to be helpful in any way possible she is a bright ray of sunshine when you wake upThe other staff members do not compare to this when we arrived most of the front desk staff was eating in the lobby and it seemed we were almost interrupting their time

I don’t normally write reviews about things like this I just feel like after my child even said seems like we were bothering them, doesn’t seem right for paying for a hotel experience for 200$ after staying at two other hotels in the area the next week I can say this stay was our worst Hotel was clean and new , we had to use our pull out couch but had to ask for the linens not in the closet like the other hotels The showers had no handles or mats for the tub and almost every one from our 11 people group slipped at one point I would go back just to have breakfast with Jan

The Tom Turkey Dinner tasted homemade and best dressing I’ve had in a long time They give you a discount on breakfast too Our daughter loved the pool and they had cookies and DVDs in the office I want this to sound like an honest review by listing one bad thing but I just can’t think of any We will be back Thanks cousin!

Corey Sheppard

My wife and I went to Cousin’s on Valentine’s Day, 2022 The service was outstanding, or waitress was prompt and made certain that we were all taken care of My wife and I had the special, I chose prime rib, and she took the chicken cordon blue (we tried one another’s food

and loved it! )The food was fantastic, and we both gave our compliments to the chef, it was so good! The sides included potatoes, vegetables, soup or salad (we took the salad), a half glass of champagne, and a slice of raspberry cheesecake All I can say is, yum!We will definitely be going back

Our group needed a place to stay for the night And we are so glad we came to this place Brandy, at reception, was so helpful, kind and willing to help us out however we needed

She gave a stunning first impression The rooms are beautiful and very clean We stayed in a single queen, and it was perfect A lovely hot and cold breakfast selection – very satisfying All in all, we loved our stay at comfort inn and recommend others go there as well

Artemis Sky

This hotel is cozy, comfortable, and the staff is so friendly Whether it was leaving oatmeal packs out in case you missed their scrumptious breakfast, baking a batch of free cookies, or calling us because we left behind a swim suit in one of our rooms, this was certainly not a two star hotel! The beds were comfortable, the pool was clean, and as I previously mentioned, the breakfast was delicious!I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay at a comfy hotel, and the fact that it is pet friendly means the rooms are extra clean too!

My stay at the Lyle wasn’t planned I had an unexpected delay flying out of DC to Phoenix, and need a place to rest and refresh for the night After searching Hopper for about 20 minutes, I chose the Lyle because I love boutique properties and it looked really charming in the photos

My check-in went smoothly and Johnny Pelzer extended the warmest welcome I’ve worked as a hotel manager and chef for 15+ years and I can say with certainty that hospitality is not simply a checklist of tasks to ensure someone’s comfort or to make them feel welcome–hospitality is a behavior, core belief, and attitude Hotels and restaurants tend to prioritize commerce and often hospitality gets lost The Lyle gave me everything in way of “technically”: great hospitality–even more I was offered an attitude of hospitality I hope to return to stay for much longer than a single night soonOn a separate the hotel restaurant was fantastic! The service was attentive without being overbearing, the soundtrack was perfectly curated–and as a restaurant chef I loved every dish, they were executed flawlessly The old fashion using Four Roses was a perfect partner to the short ribs

Julie Cooperman Bach

Reserved 1 night(May 14,22), was charged for 2 Staff (Merika) said she was refunding the money for the extra night I even received an email from her

Never have received the refund, she has stopped responding to me I am very disappointed , had wanted to stay there again The outside of hotel is historically very cute Rooms are pretty clean but in need of repairs Shared bathrooms are very clean and their are many

Kinga Magiera

Hard to get in contact with We arrived on location and the hotel was locked, no one at the front desk, and the phone number on google was disconnected The link on the email dialed a disconnected number as well

Had to hard code type in the phone number Poor communication I believe it’s new ownership in the last 6 months and still working logistics

Older hotel, so don’t have unreasonable expectationsExcellent staff! Front desk is always very attentive and helpfulRooms are extremely clean!Price is very fair

Within an easy walk of the Waterfront and Downtown!!

Dylan Aplin

The front desk staff was very friendly, the bed was comfy and the room was clean However the TV was constantly cutting out and the top sheet on the bed was kind of dirty when we got in our room The mini fridge was pretty warm and did not get our drinks or left overs very cold which was okay I guess

The lady on the phone told us they had a pool and said nothing about it being closed when we asked so to drive 4 hours to the Dalles just to be somewhat let down wasn’t okay It’s a fair room for the price but if I come again I will not be staying here In the parking lot for the back building there are very sketchy people hanging around and my boyfriend and I didn’t feel very safe here Overall for the price it was a decent hotel room, I just wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else

Kaela Kaminski

We ended up not being able to stay here because they said there was an issue with their system saving the 3rd party booking There were two front desk employees and neither one of them seemed to know how to handle the situation They said they didn’t have a room available for us today, but that there was one available tomorrow and she assumed we were early risers since we had dogs (what?) so I said yes and she said come by tomorrow morning and ask for ‘Christina’ to be able to check into the room

I asked if I could check in at any time I wanted and she wasn’t sure Meanwhile another customer came in to check-in and just left me standing there absolutely clueless with how they were going to accommodate me and my reservations I had made Eventually I asked, ‘so what am I supposed to do here, I don’t have a room tonight but a room tomorrow?’ They said ‘that is correct that is all we can do for you’ They said ‘please make a claim with the 3rd party booking agency” So I left and found a WAY better hotel that was local and thank goodness they had vacancy! So relieved, however I thought it was very unprofessional and there seemed to be no remorse or accommodating If you do stay here, I would recommend not staying here on a busy weekend or during busy tourist seasons

We stayed here half a dozen times in the past year and have always been super comfortable The kids love the breakfast and pool The king suite is big and quiet! Staff is so sweet, we forgot a phone charger there and they bend over backwards trying to gift us one

We didn’t need it, but appreciated the thought and it wasn’t even their fault We recommend it to our family when they visit the Gorge

James Oliver

Lovely hotel, they had attentive and friendly staff when I was there with a very clean and well maintained buildingRoom had some very slow to respond tv’s but otherwise worked great Was in a suite with a sofa which made for a very relaxing evening watching a sport game with family and a few beers from their market and the nearby gas station

Breakfast was a little on the busy side but well laid out and tasted good Mostly pre packaged items but eggs were provided during the stayLocation is kind of odd (see Google maps satellite/street view) but quiet enough and near the highway or old OR-30 for a scenic driveWould gladly stay again

Judy Burgoyne

Super clean, they gave us a room on the back of the building and this was our 4th stay, super happy with fresh cold water when you check in, awesome morning coffee and fire burning in the back ground at breakfast in the morning is a super touchI really like this location because it’s half way home and walking distance to Cousins for a great meal!

This hotel was phenomenal If you like unique hotels with historic charm then I would highly recommend We didn’t even stay in the schoolhouse, we stayed in the cabins but we’re still able to get our fill of it

They offer great spaces that are well diverse and perfect for all ages We travel with two young children (3, <1) and it is so hard to be able to enjoy ourselves without being able to set out baby down or feeling like we need to coral our children They have a great gym with lots of room to play around, games, etc but our favorite place was the Sanctuary Beautiful, private, yoga room There was nothing our baby could get hurt on and he was able to freely crawl around and enjoy himselfTheir spa is also great, perfect size with more amenities than mostOur cabin was cute and the floor plan was well designed Two separate bedrooms with a living space, FULL Kitchenette (mini fridge, hot plate, convection oven, cooking utensils, etc) so you don’t need to feel like your only option is eating out, and a good bathroom We loved having a picnic table and hammock on our porch also, Felt like a very private space our family could enjoyWe will definitely be coming back as this hotel has instantly grown to be our favorite place we have visitedTo make this hotel even more perfect I wish I could pick it up as-is and drop it in central Oregon

Kelly Weese

The hostel was lovely There was lots of storage space and privacy curtains kept light and sounds at bay People were respectful and though it’s a shared space, it felt like my own little vacation cubicle

Very fun Very clean Very restful The spa was so relaxing The sauna and cold plunge were rejuvenating and the staff very friendly and helpful

Christine Spencer

My partner and I have come to Society every 1-2 months for the past year or so It used to be a wonderful, quiet retreat from the city The views are beautiful, and there really aren’t many spa retreats like this

Unfortunately, the past 4 times we’ve stayed, it’s everything but relaxing The spa has turned into a water park with kid pool toys, splashing and yelling You can’t even escape it in the sauna, which seems to echo louder My partner has kids, and the last thing we’d do is bring them to impact others trying to relax and recoup It’s really unfortunate that policy of a serene experience isn’t fostered and this is allowed We probably won’t be returning unless this gets better

My husband and I had such a lovely time at the Balch We stayed for one night in a standard room on the third floor – so cozy, clean, and peaceful! The hotel staff was super friendly and accommodating We ate dinner in the bistro and it was delicious, plus the chef is very kind and cares a lot about creating good food

He even gave a free dessert – strawberry basil sorbet (incredible)!Thank you, Balch Hotel — we’ll definitely be back!

Esmeralda Brock

The hotel was outstanding! Upon arriving we were offered fresh baked cookies and everything was already ready for our stay Went up to our room and was amazed by its beauty and preservation, was able to escape from technology (for the most part, had our cell phones lol) and the peace and quiet was amazing The next morning we walked into the dining hall and was immediately offered breakfast and fresh coffee which was also GREAT! The staff is SUPER polite and very friendly, if we weren’t in such a rush I’d sit and talk with the receptionist all day 🙂 Tavern for drinks and burgers are right across the street, the market which was extremely nice with good food is just a short walk ahead, and a beautiful scenery! 10/10 would recommend everyone to go here for a real getaway

Super happy and content with our stay, thank you guys for being so good to us 💕

Doomsi Something (Doomsidoodeedoo)

I stopped in for dinner by chance It is only about 15-20 minutes from The Dalles and definitely worth the visit The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, restored but keeping an historic aesthetic

Dinner was great I had their Caesar salad, and steak Both were great The croutons were freshly made and still warm, and the steak was flavorful and tender Everything came together great! Service was genuine and friendly As a bonus, a kitten visited me outside!
