Pros are that the rooms were freshly redone My wife and I worked here for a couple weeks and while the rooms were small, they were as described on the website Free Internet was generally fine for zoom meetings

I would have liked ovens in the room, more outlets by the desk and in the bedroom The staff and housekeeping were very helpful Breakfast daily was minimal Pool/hot tub are small but worked Gym had a couple treadmills, some free weights and benches The outdoor furniture was missing some cushions and the lounge chairs by the pool were cheap (several were broken) Location was near shopping and highway My wife and I enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for those looking for a long stay and no frills

Zan Bernhardt

No indication when I made the reservation that the hotel was undergoing remodeling The room was NOT ready for occupancy 3/4 of outlets weren’t live

The TV remote wasn’t for our TV and we couldn’t shut it off at night, so we had to cover it with a towel to avoid the glare If we unplugged it, then we needed another remote the next day The shampoo/conditioner mounted in the shower didn’t work A/C was so loud that no one could have slept through the noise Stayed 3 nightsno housekeeping inquiry whether we needed new towels, nothing They never came in Front desk people were attentive when we called to say there was no hairdryer in the room as well as having to have all the feather pillows changed out due to allergyThe location is wonderful and the room was clean

B Nicole

The stay was enjoyable They had everything we needed for a family of 5, super excited about that Choices were limited for our budget, traveling with kids, needing a fridge and microwave and separate bedroom with two beds and a playpen

So we were accommodated very well Staff were friendly and some made us feel welcomed There was one guy in particular whose name I didn’t catch but he made sure we were taken care of The only complaints I have are that the beds were super uncomfortable I woke up with neck and back pain every night, and the view wasn’t so great where we were placed Also there wasn’t a real breakfast For $800+ I expected at least a cooked breakfast not microwavebles However the jimmy dean sandwiches were tasty

We have always stayed here in the past for their great customer service but this time was different We have been Marriott members for a long time and unfortunately we had a bad experience here Breaks my heart bc everytime we travel we make a stop here bc we travel with kids so it’s always nice to stop for a break

I will definitely contact corporate bc our service shouldn’t just be “oh sorry we will comp your $10 parking for the night” as like I said being members for years

The Nobu Ryokan Malibu is a fabulous, relaxing, elegant property, with amazing, uncompromising, top of the line service The entire staff worked seamlessly together, to create a most memorable and enjoyable stay Our suite was sweet and spacious, with two luxurious spa like bathrooms

The room has a couple easy fixes that need to be addressed: ie a new carpet in the living area, discoloration’s or oil stains on the couch need to be removed, and the bed needs to be replaced It felt like a futon, a thin, hard, old futon mattress, which detracted from the luxurious vibe the hotel is striving for Located right on the ocean, we enjoyed our terrace for sunning, relaxing, dining, and taking in the ocean scene One of the rooms highlights was the mini bar It was completely personalized, down to the very last detail All requests were answered thoroughly While staying at the Ryokan, I also enjoyed a very powerful Reiki session in my room, through Fit Concierge I HIGHLY recommend having a Reiki session at the Ryokan, it was like the icing on the cake for our stay I hope you get a chance to stay at the Nobu Ryokan Malibu soon Thank you one last time too, to the entire Nobu Ryokan Malibu family, for your amazing hospitality and care!

My experience at the Surfrider was exactly what I wanted out of a Malibu vacation I was able to easily walk across the street to the beach and pier They offered beach towels, on-site parking, a cozy vibe, and friendly staff

I heard there are Mini Coopers to rent, but I didn’t get a chance to do so The rooftop restaurant is lovely and it doesn’t get better than overlooking the coast They even offered to make me a picnic basket when I called ahead to confirm my booking (it was filled with goodies and locally-sourced items which I thought was well beyond the value I paid for it)The room itself is small but cozy The bathroom shower includes a handheld, which makes it really easy washing away sand and bits — great thinking The housekeeping staff are attentive The entire team made it a point to recognize us, making me feel welcome I couldn’t resist and bought their candles before checking outThank you to the team for running a lovely, chic, modern yet vintage feeling boutique hotel in a brilliant location I will be back!

This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay in Malibu Every little detail was perfect Every single person that works there is so incredibly friendly and helpful

I took my wife there for a birthday weekend and every person that we encountered made sure to wish my wife a happy birthday and really made the experience feel special I’m pretty hopeless when it comes to planning, but the staff at the Surfrider helped me plan and arrange everything for from a beautiful bouquet of flowers that were already delivered to the room on arrival, drinks in the room, in-room massage, and a delicious birthday cake during dinner The in-room massage was amazing All of the drinks and food were fantastic The rooftop deck has probably the best view of Malibu and the Malibu pier and it is reserved for guests of the hotel only so we were able to sit right away If you have an electric car, they have two level 2 chargers in their parking lot It felt like a truly bespoke experience and I cannot recommend the Surfrider Malibu enough We will definitely plan to return in the future

Marsyita Mohtar

Was here for a weekend and we stayed on the ground floor room The service was friendly and accommodatingThe room was fairly small but tastefully furnished

We truly enjoyed our short time hereWe tried the rooftop restaurant for both lunch and dinner Food didn’t disappoint I loved the Thai twist in the ceviche Drinks were creative and delicious Would love to stay here again when I’m in Malibu

Was visiting family in the area and this location was perfect for us The room was clean, comfortable, and relaxing The pool and spa were nice as well

We ended up staying an extra night and Alex at the front desk was so great to work with and helped us with the extra night We enjoyed the breakfast every morning as well We would stay here again

Cheryl Mccoy

My son and I stayed here for a mini vacation to Universal Studios – and it was GREAT!! The staff was very friendly and the overall vibe was super cool We enjoyed one day sitting poolside with drinks and invited local friends to dine with us The food was yummy and they had a Gluten Free menu – so I had plenty of GF choices and didn’t have to worry! This is a very cute boutique hotel and I would definitely stay here again!!

Bryan Shaw

My room was paid through the day At 0715 in the morning, I could not gain access to my room I told the front desk, but I was told that I had to make a payment so I could get back in my room to get my things so I could go to work

As a military member, or cards come overdue quickly sometimes I understand that the hotel needs to get paid, but at 0715, and I am forced to make a payment to collect my equipment so I can go to work seems a bit of a stretch I could have easily gone to my base, explained what was going on, then returned prior to the official checkout time to get things straightened out But I was strong-armed to make a payment before that could happen

Mary Fruzia

Our stay was very nice Very clean room and hotel The staff was very friendly

We enjoyed the breakfast that was included, self-serve style many options The website pictures are a little misleading of the swimming pool, as the pool is much smaller than it appears in the pictures However, the pool and area were also very clean The hot tub was very enjoyable and a pretty good size Five adults fit comfortably with room for maybe one more person The decor is nice but in need of a little updating

Mark Sherman

Remarkably pleasant and competent staff Both kind and efficient And when I inadvertently left some items in a drawer and called them two days later, they not only had the items (saving the car key AND some notes I had written!), but mailed them to me immediately

I’ve stayed here previously and will continue to stay here exclusively when visiting family I’ve stayed at the nearby Four Seasons, which is nice But the value at Hampton Inn & Suites is fantastic and my stay was just as pleasant!

Lynda Mulligan

I was pleasantly suprised It does not have the appearance when you walk in the door, but the rooms were spotless, well appointed Wonderful service, all the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and offering assistance

Even the kitchen staff was offering guest suggestions of what to see while in LA and directions He was so friendly The front desk people were exceptionally warm, friendly and efficient Very pleased

Beautiful rooms, excellent sauna/ steam room facility, amazing gym, wonderful gardens Food was absolutely incredible and room service was open late Staff was catering and exceptional overall

There was a wedding on the front lawn when I was there and I was able to peek at it from my room It was one of the nicest I’ve ever seen and was fortunate to see it All around great place

Kim Espinosa

Check-in was efficient, room was nice My gripe was that there was a party with lots of very drunk and loud people on my floor from 2:30 am until 4:30 am People were in the halls talking and laughing loudly for 2 hours

I called reception twice (3 am and 4 am) and they were definitely apologetic, but the noise didn’t stop We had an early flight and I mentioned at check-out at 5:30 am, but the check-out staff showed zero empathy They didn’t apologize but they did acknowledge the noise I know it’s not their fault, but I would think they should try a bit harder to ensure that guests can sleep ok Like perhaps have a no loud party policy after midnight?

Beautiful views and lovely grounds with flowers everywhere Unfortunately, the beds are EXTREMELY hard My husband and I had a difficult time getting comfortable and woke with sore backs

Also, we had to unplug the lamp and clock to charge our phonesThe pool is cute and heated Perfect for little kids Bring a cooler because there wasn’t anyone tending bar in the pool areaThe Italian restaurant is closed on Monday so we were unable to go They have an outdoor restaurant that requires you to order food and drinks in lineI’m giving the resort 3 stars because for the price they need to make improvements regarding comfort and practicalities

Brad Parsa

Great experience overall Just to get a few nit-picky things out of the way… a hinge on top left corner of the slide door shutters was sagging and the doors wouldn’t seem to properly close as a result We were booked into a suite so the fireplace is accessible to both rooms via a set of glass doors

They were good on one side but looked crooked on the other I tried fixing this and it literally came unhinged I put it back into place as best as I could and made a point not to mess with it The spa tub is great, but one of the jets stopped working on the third day And the towel rack closest to the toilet is quite loose on one side The shower is awesome and reminds us of home as we have a similar setup with the exact same fixtures A tremendous stroke of the ego to know that we picked out a design for our home bath that smacks of high-end And finally, we had ants It’s summer, so it is to be expected that these guys want to beat the heat as well A few of them could be seen in several corners of the room shortly after check in It got a bit worse, so we were diligent about freezing food scraps and emptying our trash several times daily The patio showcases a stunning view of the waterfall courtyard And we could see the pool from our room as well, so it was a convenient way to check if it was too busy out there or not

Joseph Di Chiacchio

Staying at the Westlake Village Inn is like enjoying Tuscany The ambiance is terrific, the rooms are beautiful, the staff are so welcoming and pleasantWe drove a little over 2 miles to spend a couple days there, celebrating our 47th anniversary

It was a true “stay cay “, and was absolutely excellent

This is our all-time favorite hotel The cleanliness is unsurpassed The housekeeping is amazing

The pool and entire patio area is beautiful and clean The fitness center is excellent The rooms are spacious and shockingly comfortable–and I can never sleep in hotels The attention to ‘quiet hours’ is appreciated The iced fruity water in the lobby is SO GOOD! Wonderful six-night experience for my family

Clean hotel, good customer service, spacious rooms But the pool were close during my entire 3 night stay My partner was on a business meeting and I was hoping relax while he work but I couldn’t do anything, the bar/restaurant closed from 11am to 5pm

The ice machine of the 4th floor didn’t work Nothing for lunch or drinks during afternoon hours The bar have a good entrees selection and the bartender was super friendly

My husband and I recently got married and stayed at this hotel with several of our guests We planned to pay for one of our guests Room & Tax so I called in advance to make sure we could do this, we were assured we could When we got to the hotel, we asked the front desk to please charge our card the room and tax for our friends room

We were told it was taken care of and our friends would simply need to come by the front desk to put down their credit card for incidentals and pick up their keys Hours later, I get a text from my friends saying that they were charged the room and tax because the credit card we put down got “deleted” We make our way back to the front desk to figure out what went wrong – the front desk agent told us her supervisor would look into it I had to be the one to ask how we would know it was taken care of, would someone be following up with us, etc, etc, there was no initiative to assure us Shortly after, we get a call from the supervisor and the supervisor asked us to come back downstairs to explain the situation At this point, it is the FOURTH time we are talking to someone to deal with a simple request The supervisor explained that our friends were indeed charged and the solution suggested to us? Just transfer money to our friends once the hold was released from our card This was all happening the day before our wedding and I still can’t fathom how a simple request became so complicated

This is a nice hotel convenient to the 101 freeway There’s a gas station right across the street The rooms have kitchens including a microwave, fridge, stove and a dishwasher

There’s a small dining area with a table and chairs Unfortunately the bed was so hard it was like sleeping on concrete and the A/C was noisy The free breakfast has hot items like biscuits and sausage, plus waffles, bagels, toast, etc The coffee was great The staff were helpful There’s no restaurant so you have to go about 5 miles to find any but there are many to choose from

ELIZABETH ZAMORA

I had previously stayed here and my visits were always great however I tried to Block about 12 rooms for my wedding about five months before every time I would call they wouldn’t tell me that A manager would call me back to confirm a week ago I called and the same thing happened the girl on the other line told me I was also a manager would call me just to double check all the dates and confirm however I didn’t hear back from the manager I called this morning and come to find out that they are totally booked for the days I’m asking and the only thing available would be Friday nights mind you I need a room is from Thursday to Sunday This is so frustrating because now I have to try and look for another hotel that will accommodate all the rooms and have these available for my wedding that’s in less than a week

katrina gorgy

The front desk agent said my guest room number out loud during check-in instead of pointing to it like they are supposed to The staff in the hotel industry are instructed to not even say the room number out loud for privacy and safety reasons (seems like common sense) The guest may choose to read their room number aloud from the key jacket but the staff is only to point to it when handing over the key cards

I felt very unsafe and shocked when my room number was announced for everyone to hear The agents need better safety and common sense training Please do better

Hotel check in greeted me with, “Happy Birthday!” which is a small but mighty gesture It really set the tone for my intention of how I wanted to spend my staySince we arrived early (before check in) the front desk said we could feel free to explore the grounds, while they expedited our rooms readiness We decided to go to the bar, where Omar made us two Margaritas (no to salt) + (Yes to Casamigos tequila) “It’s my specialty,” Omar said so pleasantly, and he wasn’t wrong We were barely on our second one when Jessica walked right over to us to explain our room was ready for usThis time we were on the second floor, which felt just as great as being on the first, and made me hope that next time we get the third floor, just for kicks Our view was stunning, and faced the ocean straight onBefore our stay we made dinner reservations on premises for 5:30 pm, just before sunset We arrived right on time and were seated in the most perfect place, right againt the glass to enjoy the viewWe ordered the potato croquettes, which were honestly so light, fluffy, and delicious They were finished before we knew it We also ordered white wine and the sea food Tower, which is completely worth the price It could easily feed four people who want to socialize and drink wine and order a couple appetizers as a sideThe sea food tower was so fresh, delicately brined in its own natural juices, and finger licking, claw cracking, petit oyster yummy good I will 10/10 definitely order it againIn the morning we asked for a late checkout, and the hotel was so accommodating, perhaps because it was a Monday the next day I would not expect that courtesy always, but we very much appreciated itWe also ordered room service (which is 24hrs) for breakfast at 715am We had our breakfast on the patio, which was lovelyThe beds are so comfortable The sheets are excellent, but there is also a soft to the touch wool throw, which is great for sleeping with the door open at night We didn’t feel cold at all, but stayed comfy and warm as we listened to the waves crash us into a deep and peaceful sleepDuring checkout Efron helped us settle up, and made us feel so appreciated as guests I definitely can’t wait to come back again, and again, and againThank you Malibu Beach Inn ⛱️ ❤️

Really enjoyed this place Stayed 5 nights to tour colleges in the area and really have no complaints We stayed in room 383 and despite the hotel seeming to be bustling with people and the pool being occupied, our room was fairly quite

Due to our schedule, I do wish we could have spent time at the pool or an evening drinking near the pool patio They could do better with their weekday breakfast offerings, nevertheless the weekend chocolate waffles were a hit with the kids

Not what we thought!!!I’m a nurse traveling for work and we loved this place when we were here initially We checked out for the weekend and came back the next week only to have our price for two days go up significantly When we questioned this, the person who said he was manager rolled his eyes, kept sighing at our questions and said that hotel rates change by the hour and even though it was on booking

com for one price when we looked, doesn’t mean it is the same when we got here to check in Most hotels would’ve honored the rate shown online, but at least he could’ve been somewhat polite about it I asked about the discount for being a nurse and he said they only do that during nurses week All we wanted was an explanation for the charges, and he acted so put out by having to explain to us why the amount WE PAID increased so much We planned on staying here for another week, but due to the rudeness of the manager, we will stay at one of the many really nice and FRIENDLY ones in the area

They had the best hotel free breakfast since covid They had a complete spread with super friendly staff, excellent Italian restaurant, beautiful courtyard, and a nice pool, jacuzzi and fire pits The rooms were also comfortable, nicely done and well stocked with things most don’t think of anymore, like mints on bed and shower caps

I’m glad we stayed here This isn’t the cheapest, but by far the best value for sure If we ever find ourselves in the area again, definitely spending the extra few bucks to stay there

The manager Sun has done a fantastic job of hiring and training the right people Every interaction we had, reception, maintenance, security, room service, hospitality, was near perfect Everyone was polite, professional, knowledgeable, and courteous

I cannot overstate the quality of the personnel at this hotel They do a fantastic job, and it will show in all aspects of your stay Rooms were clean and tidy Pool area looked very nice (we did not use the pool) Breakfast burritos are on pointNote: This location has a 2nd floor, but no elevators If anyone in your party has a mobility concern I urge you to call ahead and make sure you can be on the ground floor I’m certain this team will make it happen for you

Mike Osthimer

Room was spacious as advertised if you could get in After numerous attempts the door would open if you rammed it at just the right spot Tried to notify the front desk but the room phone didn’t work so I called on my cell number

Temperature was warm so we turned the air on before leaving for dinner only to return to a hot room Went to use the jacuzzi but discovered it closes at 9:00 pm 3 stars is a fair rating for the hotel

I have stayed at this hotel numerous nights since November of 2021 as my company opened a new business nearby Overall, the staff is incredible and my stays are pleasant I would agree with all the reviews that this hotel front desk is really bad and lacks serious customer service

Very rude, poor phone etiquette and make you feel like you are a severe bother to them I do however want to give a HUGE shout out to Jeffrey as he is the ONLY employee at the front desk with proper customer service and excels in delivering a excellent experience! I now tell all my colleagues when booking or needing assistance at this hotel to only ask for him Congrats to Jeffrey! You are a rockstar! The bartender is also by the the best! Your lucky to have these two on your team! For the rest of you and your management team…step it up!Coming from an Ambassador Elite

So we are at the beginning of our stay and already some disappointment I requested extra towels three times and it took me walking to the front desk to retrieve them myself There are 4 of us in the room and they had given 3 bath towels

1 of which had a dried blood stain on it Plus side there is breakfast regardless if you stay with Townsend Suites or Courtyard The pool is quite popular, so be prepared to find a small crowd there I will update my review along the way

This property is split between two different brands – Courtyard and Townplace I’ve stayed at both and prefer the Courtyard by far 2-star rating is due to the lack of cleaning on the Townplace side) and having to babysit my Bon Voy account to get credit earned with my stays here

The beds are comfortable and rooms are nice size The property can be loud if staying in a room along the highway or north side of hotel (animal shelter next door) It’s convenient to the 101 as well A bit isolated in terms of restaurants nearby LA Fitness is next door but gym is doable at hotelRecommend NEVER booking the Townplace side My only attempt to stay on Townplace side included not just 1 but 2 dirty rooms Ultimately I requested to be moved to Courtyard side, which the front desk accommodated after I showed them someone’s dirty towel was under my sink (and let them know I didn’t have any clean towels which I realized when I was getting out of shower so had to use the one and only washcloth to dry off) The room switch apparently caused issues crediting my prepaid stay for Bon Voy points I’ve been trying for 25 months to get it resolvedLocation is super convenient to my office otherwise I would find another Marriott property that is more consistent and doesn’t hassle me for Marriott pointsUPDATE: As you can see the property GM responded and claims my points were added That is absolutely NOT TRUE As of 8/13/22, I am still missing credit for the 2 nights I stayed on the Courtyard side of this property I have spent way too much time groveling for points that should be automatic RIDICULOUS!!!

My wife and I have done Calamigos twice now (once for New Year’s & once for my birthday) and we absolutely love it The price is up there, but it’s one of the few high end stays that I’ve been to and actually felt like I got what I paid for The service was great both times from the main property staff to the team at their private beach club

The property is fun to explore and we even took part in a complimentary sound bath during one of our stays I love that they have bungalow style lodging with enclosed patios for added privacy It was especially great for a getaway during the thick of COVID It’s a great location with great proximity to other great restaurants and activities I really can’t say enough about this place It was so enjoyable that my wife and I recommended it to my mother for one of her birthday trips with her boyfriend and they loved their weekend getawayAs Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “I’ll be back”Ambiance: 5/5Rooms: 45/5Food: 45/5Drinks: 5/5Price: 4/5Service: 6/5 *They definitely exceeded hereOverall: 48/5

The amenities and services were superb here They have four pools, a spa, a gym, tennis courts, multiple bars and restaurants, a cafe, and more It’s a short drive to the beach, yet perfectly secluded within a forested part of Malibu

However, I’m knocking off three stars for the following reasonsWe were never informed of various reservations from private parties and film sets, which interfered with our experience of the entire propertyMy wife and I were unable to hike some of the trails on the property due to film crews having all types of equipment throughout the area Also we were unable to eat and enjoy the beach club due to a private party renting out the venue It seems beautiful, sadly we were unable to experience the atmosphereAbove all, the mattresses in the cottages were incredibly firm Both my wife and I are side sleepers and we didn’t sleep comfortably our entire stay We’re in our thirties and exercise regularly, so It isn’t a matter of us having worn-out bodiesOverall, this is a majestic property to reserve for private events such as a wedding, however the hotel experience was unfortunately lacking I wouldn’t stay overnight again, especially considering their prices

Had a great staycation at Calamigos guest ranch, check in time is 3pm and check out at 11am Would recommend to go earlier since there are several fun things to enjoy at the ranchPro tips:1

Private beach club: Make sure to book a complimentary shuttle bus with them, you can easily spend the whole afternoon at the beach club!2 Warm spa pool Don’t miss out3 Breakfast by the pool is a must, they have a cute pink themed pool area So cute!4 There’s a Malibu cafe nearby at the ranch, worth a visit!5 Wine safari tour in Malibu Book a wine safari tour to see Stanley the giraffe!!!Food suggestions:Broad street oysters -They have one of the best lobster rolls in LA, make sure to add on uni and caviar!!!We really enjoy every single visit at this magical place Enjoy 🙂

I visited the Best Western Thousand Oaks hotel at the top of the month and was met by some difficult and tasteless challenges There was old and molded food found in the microwave, what appeared to blood on the sheets, and a ton of interactions that felt very unfair and discriminative When I expressed my concern to the manager, he was professional, he compensated two nights of my stay free of charge

That was admirable and professional; however as soon as I brought up what felt like discriminative behavior and recommended the establish implement better hiring and training practices, I was rudely placed on the do not rent list and was at that point embarrassed and taken through a great deal of poor and unethical experiences I advised both the regional and location managers that I had no desire to stain the reputation of the company by taking to Yelp or the business bureau or social media, hence my decision to bring my concerns to them directly It is completely disheartening and disappointing given as a consumer I simply voiced my experience There were a ton of other options that could have been taken with this incident starting with simply hearing out my concerns, agreeing to further investigate, increasing training etc but to respond the way these owners have further supports the very concern that I have expressed In this day and time such poor business practices must be addressed I could see if I trashed the room, had tons of guests or did anything to cause a burden to the establishments but I didn’t I simply conveyed my concerns and asked that they be addressed This behavior is a poor reflection on the Best Western brand itself and should be addressed immediately! Travelers, please hold these owners accountable We spend our hard earned money We utilize their services and all we sometimes require is acknowledgment of our concerns and a means to a better resolution I am so disappointed in this company and hope Best Western Corporate can help make this right!

I have no idea how this hotel has Sheraton branding At best, at best it qualifies for a four points flag Very dated hotel with staff that could care less

Calling the furniture old is a compliment We stayed in the “presidential suite” but I can assure you it was only presidential in name The fixtures were damaged and dinged Wallpaper was coming off Furniture was STAINED Cleanliness through the hotel was questionable The entire property is very very dated and in need of a desperate upgrade And by upgrade I don’t mean new furniture Although that wouldn’t hurt, but the exterior paint is in horrible shape, windows, door jams, elevators need maintenance, automatic doors were not working, hallway wallpaper and paint was chipped and pealing, the list goes on If this hotel is a representation of the Sheraton brand then Sheraton is going the way of Ramada The once upon a time tier one brand that lost its image due to dated properties I probably won’t stay again
