Theresa Smith

The bed was comfortable but the hotel overall is run down with stained carpet in hallways, walls in need of fresh paint, and room furniture that has seen better days There doesn’t seem to be any insulation between floors We were on the second floor and room above us was extremely noisy and disruptive

I’ve stayed in many Holiday Inn Express’ and had a comfortable and positive experience We have family in Topeka but will not be staying in this location again

Rodney Cady

If I could give them zero stars I would I’ve been standing in their lobby for nearly an hour with not even an acknowledgement from a hotel employee The clerk keeps leaving the front desk to “look at rooms”

There is a group of high school students checking in and it sounds like their rooms weren’t clean So they are playing musical rooms If I didn’t use my rewards points for this stay (what a waste) I would have walked a long time ago Really awful experience Customer service is a complete joke

LeeAnna Ross

Room on fourth floor did not appear maintained There was a half eaten corn dog between the bed and night stand Television in room did not work

The bed mattress was worn down The restroom did not have a complete set of towels or amenities I have stayed at 3 high hotels in past year and this was the worst I felt bad for the one staff employee who was expected to deal with all the complaints and issues Our room was overbooked as another family climbed steps to the fourth floor only to find us there The elevator is not in service and has not been for long time and will not be until “the part comes from china”:according to the manager This hotel is set to be remodeled The manager and front desk offered a reduced rate and a free hotel night and neither were posted to bank or high account I have spent over 2 hours calling high regarding this hotel and issues I would not stay at this location again

Bird Lady

Great location Close to restaurants Nice rooms, except first room we checked into smelled like dog

I appreciate pet friendly hotels, but the smell was really strong And food was left in the fridge I requested another room and it was better But the halls smelled kind of funny too Okay, but would probably stay somewhere else next time

Mike Dee

I would say this is nicer than most of the Sleep Inns I’ve been to The bed was very comfortable but the pillows are super narrow You can barely put your head on it and forget about putting your arms on it if you sleep on your side

The shower had great hot water but it was a bit oddly shaped and didn’t give you much shelf space to put shampoo and other things The breakfast was pretty sad No hot items or fruit Just prepackaged processed sugar items, add water items and some cereal They have a gym and I got really excited when I saw a filtered water machine in the gym but the cold water button gives you warm water so that’s a bummer They were very nice at the front desk I didn’t have any bugs in my room like another guest had mentioned but the room did have a bit of a smell Maybe from the bug spray All in all you could certainly stay in worse places

Shane Heslet (Shane the Writer)

Great hotel, with good rates for rooms on most nights Rooms are a bit smaller than similar hotels, but are clean and efficiently decorated The free breakfast is good, and is presented well in a cosy dining area

I had a problem with the front desk giving out keys to my room to people who were not registered to the room, but they issue was resolved amicably by the hotel staff

Robert Haight

The price was okay

but everywhere I looked, I could see the hotel breaking apart Obviously not falling in, but definitely in need of a lot of attention Heated pool, not so heated The rooms seemed a bit dated, understandable Breakfast was the best part But was not to exciting either I would return again if I needed to, but I do not plan to

Max Garcia

The experience was less than desirable Despite rather flashy decor, the rooms were drab, and we found roaches, one elevator was broken and the other was completely backed up, as well as it was being used by staff, and we waited for 30 minutes to get down to our lobby There were roaches

The food was decent, and the staff seemed kind, but late at night it was swarmed with sketchy activity outside I would never come back here I have stayed in much cheaper hotels for a much more desirable experience

Jessica Stein

Absolutely awful Bugs in the room Roaches in the stairwell

People hanging out all over the parking lot Severely understaffed Elevators not working except one Literally waited 35 min to get on elevator to be able to bring luggage down stairs Super dated hotel in need of major repairs Tried to bring up issues with front desk staff who told manager but manager did not come out of room to actually speak to me in person So frustrated with this experience especially considering the price of the rooms

Nice hotel, with free laundry facilities and a large fitness center They have a couple of propane grills in the back that are available anytime for guest use The rooms are clean and modern looking, and have the full kitchen setup, with a dishwasher, stovetop and various kitchen essentials

Staff are helpful and accommodating Great hotel to stay at in Topeka! I’ve very much enjoyed my stay here

Katie Wohlgemuth

Room was fine Employees were niceLoud neighbors blasting music at night

And people were loud in the parking lot drinking outside our roomWe got a suite We were hoping there’d be a separate room for the kitchen/seating area than the bedroom but it’s all one large room More pictures online would have been helpful to see that before booking

Marsha Dulin

The room was horrible!! The bed had hair and stains on the sheets The floor could not have been vacuumed The dishwasher a fridge had stuff left from previous guests

The housekeeper I approached didn’t seem to care one bit She walked out the door to smoke with I assume the manger When I tried to speak with management they said he was in his room or unavailable I never once saw him in the office and the two housekeeper I did see ( Kelly and Alexis I believe ) were never cleaning! Place is gross Total Trap Hotel I would not bring my kids here at all Unsafe just by staff alone and the carrying on I smelled and overheard

Shane Heslet (Shane the Writer)

The lobby and hallways are nicely decorated, and the breakfast area was neat and clean, despite having limited food options The staff were courteous enough and got me a room when all the other hotels in town were fully booked The rooms are a bit outdated, and there were stains on the bed comforters

Overall, it was a good experience and better than some of the other hotels in the area

Steven Storer

We were blown away by the quality of this motel and our first floor room Amazing value and good location for restaurants The room is perfect

Other than the smallish towels, this Choice Hotel property is as good as a Hampton or Holiday Inn We elected to stay here because it is pet friendly and we brought our 75 lb lapdog, Maggie will us on this trip to Colorado Highly recommend this lodging alternative on the west side of Topeka

Logan Duncan

This place does very shady business Was told I would be charged 78 dollars, but in reality was charged 95 dollars for one night Called the front desk and they told me it was taxes!! Literally stayed across the street the night before at Days Inn and was charged exactly 74 dollars

Also, place stated they have a pool, however closed due to COVID That excuse is old!! Stop giving your customers bad service and using excuses

Guest House

How quaint! It is a very large motel with so much history Our room had a balcony that we so enjoyed It’s NOT a new building it was built in 1928 but it has all modern things that we needed

The bed was so very comfortable and the room was very clean Nice quiet night very nice and polite staff Will definitely stay again when in Topeka! Thank you!

Toni Reis

Staff was great We actually had the room for two nights, went somewhere else for a night, and ended up going back There were a couple different issues we encountered, like the TV didn’t work, and a billing thing with my card, but the five stars remain because the way the Staff was right on it, whatever it was, and got it handled, hospitable and upbeat

Good people, good place Unique little hotel, and balconys with every room, I think

Kathryn Nely

The Area the hotel is it is downright scary We did not feel safe walking from our car to the hotel When we went out to get our luggage there was a man harassing a woman walking down the alley

The hotel is deteriorating and is in disrepair The grounds are unkept The room was also poor and the bed was awful The only positives about this stay was the friendly staff and their breakfast was actually really good I would not stay here again

The front desk staff were friendly and great to chat with Breakfast was also decentThat being said, room 217 should not exist

This stay was worth less than half of what I paid The room itself was fine, some questionable maintenance, but fine But it is directly above the lobby There is no type of insulation or sound deadening in the joists I heard the automatic siding doors, every time I heard every guest check in, clearly It was midnight by the time I could fall asleepI intended on speaking with the front desk attendant when I was checking out, but they were nowhere to be found in the 20 mins I spent in the lobbyIf you get room 217, throw the room keys back at them

Jamie coyle

Where to start Yes It was that bad

Arrive Monday night Can’t find my room then find it but she was rude from the get go Then because I am On a business trip, I have no energy to do anything but get to room Humidity was 100%, air was set at 75, it was dirty, mirror broken (called downstairs to tell her about the bathroom mirroe-she didn’t care) I hung up and waited throughout the night to get the room to cool off! By about 4 am the temp dropped in my room If the air conditioner wasn’t broken, my stay would have been atleast refreshing I stayed two night No housekeeping was done Nothing was refilled Check out was a mess Different gal couldn’t figure my bill out I told her I would wait to receive the receipt via email since she couldn’t print them She didn’t think I would wait two customers later she prints a receipt for him I step back up to the counter Then she tells me she doesn’t know how to do it Remove some fees So then because she was finally honest with me, I agree to have her email me it later today once her boss comes in and does it

A great place to spend the night during a road trip! The staff is incredibly friendly! While the hotel is a little dated, the beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean The hot breakfast was fantastic…so many little touches from berry compote, raspberry and chocolate sauce, fresh scones, quiche, and much more to make the start of the day a great one!

Lauren Byers

Room was not clean and the bathroom was absolutely disgusting The shower floor was black and everything just felt dirty Everything is run down and we noticed the hotel had a weird smell to it

Asked for pillows for the pullout couch and the lady working the desk said they don’t have any pillows except the one in the rooms Would have checked out and went somewhere else but couldn’t find another room available for my family of 5 in the area DO NOT STAY HERE!

We used to stay at a Marriott property nearby when we traveled to Topeka The city shut off the water at our usual hotel so we stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton instead I am happy that we did! We have stayed here the last couple of times we traveled to Topeka and will continue to do so

While they do not offer free breakfast, the room + breakfast was still cheaper than the Marriott with free breakfast Additionally, the food quality was much higher They offer a breakfast buffet but they also have kitchen options If you do eat breakfast here, I recommend the power bowl As far as the room goes, it was clean and comfortable but the view was lacking

Stephen Daniel

Tell you what This was a flat out real good hotel Clean everywhere

Gyms has free weights and a pulley tower my boys used Sleeps 4 full size people with sofa and pull out mattress for my youngest Staff was friendly and professional I asked the kitchen manager if I could use his sink to pour out my iced coffee I had in my own cup He washed it for me I was able to fill it with ice and the filtered water at the gym and hit the road Only negative thing I can say was they ain’t got no meat They had biscuits and gravy which made me feel at home And nice scrambled eggs But ain’t got no meat Now I gotta drive by all these farms craving some breakfast sausage or bacon

Elizabeth Fosson

Seriously, top notch!! This was one of the best Hilton properties I’ve stayed in Super clean! Clean gym! Huge rooms!! We were on a ground floor, which reading other’s reviews I was concerned about the noise… However, We had no issues! Found the 1st floor very quite no noise from above

Great breakfast! I felt I was staying at gramma’s house! The lady running the breakfast took care of each person coming in!A+!!

The people there was nice The housekeeper did her job wonderfully The front desk ladies were quick getting us in

The rooms and whole facility was clean The best part about the whole trip was I met the bartender, Ms Bev She really knows the history of the place and has a great since of humor I wouldn’t go to another hotel in Topeka That’s where I’m going every time… And special thanks to Jose’ for getting my information corrected the day before my trip!!!

Janelle Trau

Great staff super friendly and nice! We brought our pup with us and they were super pet friendly! Gave her a dog goodie bag, which she loved! We got a room right next to the exit which made it easier for us to take her out Lots of grass for her too! They were under construction, but that didn’t bother us at all We did set off the fire alarm though after a warm shower there was no fan in the bathroom

Overall great place to stay! Would recommend!!

Kathy Blakely

Wonderful rooms and beds Undergoing some renovations, but they did not interfere with our stay Breakfast served to you at the bar and drinks at night

The place is no smoking but I think some people smoke in the bathroom and if your room’s bathroom exhaust is switched off the smell will get to your room Make sure to keep the bathroom exhaust ON all the time Apart from everything is fine

Breakfast is good Ample parking spaces Rooms are tidy and appliances are in working condition

Felicia Hall Wyckoff

Had the best experience! The atrium is so great The room was spotless We arrived @ the same time as a track team

We had driven 600 miles & were trying to get on the Zoom for a mtg The courteous & compassionate staff got us checked in w/time to spare!Breakfast was lovely w/fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, eggs, meat & pancakes The coffee was hot & strong

Jessica Bair

I’ll start with the positives, the staff was nice & helpful, however in a five night stay our room was never fully cleaned I asked for new towels on day three, maybe that confused things The photos of the rooms are deceiving with their fish eye lens

The doubles are full size beds, not queens, it was a snug fit for the hubs and I who are average size people The a/c never worked properly, we had it on 60 and it was never even remotely that cool The shower pressure was pretty good, but drain was super slow The walls are paper thin Since all the rooms open to the center of the open hotel, loud gatherings in the lobby bar could be heard well into the night On several occasions, I could clearly make out a screaming conversation in the room next door In general, the hotel was only so-so clean, common area bathrooms had broken doors, missing ceiling panels or no soap The food was pretty good, the restaurant was only open for lunch, a $13 buffet They catered our conference for breakfast and dinners, which were good Again with the pictures… the picture of the pool area clearly shows a hot tub, which apparently has been filled in, disappointing There is really nothing around, downtown is 5-10 minutes up the road and Walmart and other stores about 15 minutes away Can’t image I’ll ever be back in Topeka, but if I were, I would probably pick a different place to lay my head

Lindsey Campbell

Excellent accomodations, clean room & attentive friendly, awesome staff I needed a place to host my son’s graduation party and their Governors suite was a perfect fit It was spacious & included all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay & party hosting! I highly recommend and will stay again

I couldn’t be more pleased & thank you Hotel Topeka for helping me celebrate such an important special occasion!

I had a great stay overall at this location It looks like a new hotel (less than 2-3 yrs old) and within walking distance to 4 restraurants The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious

The rooms also come with a desk area and a comfortable sofa with a pullout trundle for an extra bed The gym is well equipped with 3 treadmills and 2 ellipticals along with a pulley weight machine and dumbbells Breakfast has a ton of options and I was definitely not disappointed My interactions with the staff were awesome I don’t have any complaints with this location I would definitely recommend it if you’re in town

Nice, clean room! The primary bed was very comfy, and my kids slept well on the daybed/trundleThe breakfast was pretty basic, but I appreciated that they had some gluten-free cereal and gluten-free muffins for my family member who has celiac disease

The room was clean and spacious Check-in was super quick and the front desk girl was pleasant and friendly I had a friend stop by and the front desk guy wouldn’t give him my room number, which I actually really appreciate

The employee went to my room and told me directly that someone was asking what room I was in That is exactly what is supposed to be done in that particular situation Country Inn clearly values the privacy of their guests, and I wanted to thank them for doing the right thing Thank you! This is a great place to stay in Topeka!

Brown Bailey

I spent a short time here on a cross country road trip The staff was very helpful and friendly I had an issue with Priceline when checking in, but the front desk was very helpful and persistent and solved the issue as quick as was in their power

The hotel is dated with a few issues like a spewing shower head and some dirt or mold in the bathroom, but overall it was ok for the price The breakfast was pretty solid and very satisfying before a long day on the road Overall, I would stay again to use as a bed at night, but it’s not a great spot to hang out and relax at

We had an awesome stay at the Hyatt The room was excellent and scrupulously clean with a wonderful layout! We were very satisfied with the complimentary breakfast as it met all our needs The hotel staff was accommodating and exemplary from the minute we made our reservations to well after we left! We had left behind a very important medicine in the refrigerator and they literally bent over backwards to get it to Federal Express and Next Day Air it to our next destination

We wanted to specifically mention Carrie, the person who handled getting our package shipped and her diligence in making sure it was packed correctly as well as following up with a tracking number so we could be confident it was on the way Carrie was genuinely kind and enthusiastic in working with us to make sure all went well The hotel is nestled in a beautiful location and we enjoyed our time there immensely

Not the most up to date Hyatt but was accommodating for my short stay The room was clean, the air conditioner was bit noisy but kept the room at a comfortable temperature The staff is very nice and helpful

It looked like there was only one staff member manning the checkin desk and bar though The fitness center is small with one bike, elliptical, and two treadmills They did have a row of weights and a bench along with some yoga mats and water dispenser The pool is still currently closed as well as their 24/7 food service Picking up food or ordering delivery prior to arriving to the hotel would be best Despite checking out before 0630, the breakfast was set up around 0615 which was nice to get a hot tea before my departure Checkout was easy

So, this hotel was our “go to” place when visiting family Things have drastically gone down hill from 2 years ago when we stayed here… Where do I start… when we got our room, went up, and the room was just open and TV on like someone was already there

I made sure it was the right room, tried to close the door but the alignment was off and the door would not close Went to the front desk and they were very helpful, had to lift the door to close it Maintenance fixed it the next day… Then, inspected the room and there were no towels, except for the dirty towel hanging on the door in the bathroom The room appeared dirty when we got it A few nights later, the phone in our room would randomly go to speaker phone and dial tone waking everyone up I unplugged it Then, there was a fire alarm issue then the power went out for a little bit in the middle of the night The pool was also closed and the complimentary breakfast is purchased from Walmart and nearby gas stations* other things… the elevators inspection certificate is not available in the elevator, says to “see maintenance room” for certs didn’t think much of it but after experiencing this place for 12 days, thought it was odd (Kansas law says you must have it displayed?) either way didn’t have my trust*security/safety… the card reader to the hotels side doors were ripped off or something, so anyone could access the hotel without staff’s knowledge Also, parking lot was riddled with broken glassWill not return, sadly do not recommend unless something changes We actually left a day early in disgust

I booked and paid for a room for 5 people that said it could accommodate 6 I even called the hotel to confirm that we were getting 2 queen beds and a pullout couch Upon arrival I was in a room with only 2 Queens

I had to request a roll away bed which I was then charged for We used the pool to help my kids burn energy after a long day driving It felt dirty, was very crowded, and so loud I had to put in ear plugs There were several young children swimming in regular diapers Our breakfast the next day was barely edible and the coffee was terrible All that and I had to pay nearly $200, extremely disappointing experience The only positive was that the room itself was clean and comfortable

The facility and our room were very nice, clean and quiet (we stayed on the top floor away from the elevators) even though there were several big events going on in town and the hotel had a lot of activity We stayed two nights visiting family After a long day, we came back to our room with unmade beds and used towels

I asked the front desk if there was a reason our room didn’t have maid service I was told we had to request it the day before as they are short staffed It would have been nice if that had been mentioned when we checked in as I understand many businesses are short staffed at this time We will definitely stay here again It’s a very nice facility with pleasant employees

We stayed one night on the way to Texas We had two rooms Even tough we pulled in after 1 in the morning, the customer service was great

Checking out was not so pleasant The attendant was rude She had a trash bag in one hand, checking me out with other Could not even offer for a bottle of water for the road, she wanted me to buy it instead Will I stay here again? Yes Rooms were clean, breakfast was great We rested well for the rest of our trip

We were in town for my son’s State Wrestling Tournament The Residence Inn was very clean, quiet and gave us a very nice weekend The King suite gave us the perfect place to rest our heads

The kitchen was great for having real food, and the bed was comfortable We needed an extra blanket, so the front desk delivered it directly to our room We would stay again!

Excellent! Very clean rooms Friendly staff Very affordable

I only spent $130/night Had a very nice indoor pool which was nicely temperature regulated Nice and clean workout room Very good breakfast with real food, not just bagles Lots of Eggs, bacon and, biscuits Had an authentic sitting dining room Almost felt like I was actually in a diner rather than a hotel

Looks like this little Residence Inn is in restart mode from the pandemic The carpets in the room had dark stains (ink?), the kitchen had a limited stock of glasses and cutlery I slept on the fold-out couch, and have never experienced such a strong sensation of springs poking through, although I know fold-out couches aren’t the best bed in the house

The breakfast was excellent with perfectly prepared omelets, and the staff were friendly and seemed quite capable I’m sure it will all get better as they get their facilities back to Residence Inn standards
