The staff was so kind, breakfast was yummy and on time, fully stocked The room was clean and the hotel itself was in wonderful condition My only complaint here would be the bedding

The sheets and mattress cover came off the bed as soon as my husband laid down, all 4 corners came loose and we couldn’t get them to stay on I do wish the bedding would have been better but I would go back and stay again I loved the clean friendly atmosphere at this hotel We had to make a last minute stay while traveling through the area I was glad they had a room available last minute I would recommend for others to stay here and check it out The pool and workout room were also a plus! Fruit in the lobby all the time for snacking!

I was in town to take care of some things for my deceased sister I have to say how impressed I was with this Hampton Inn I have not stayed at a nicer one, nor have I encountered a better staff at ANY hotel I’ve ever stayed at

The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and the lobby amenities were above standard A special shout out to Amanda and Sam for being so kind and helpful during my stay I didn’t get the gentleman’s name who worked night shift, but he was also beyond kind I can’t say enough good things about this location Thank you to all that work there

We were so excited to find this hidden gem open this weekend! We wish we would have had more time to visit! We lost track of time talking after a very tasty breakfast!! The atmosphere and scenery was beautiful! There are a multitude of restaurants in the area, only a short 10-15 minute drive away I think they are about 13 miles from Mt Airy!! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon! Thank you Dave & Diana for making for making our little get away special!!

This is our second stay at the facility This time we stayed in the newly renovated cottage, only a short walk to the bed and breakfast The cottage was wonderful, quiet, clean, cozy

It has two bedrooms and a fully stocked kitchenThe owners, Darlene and Dave, are wonderful They are so friendly and helpful When you pull into the driveway, you feel like you are visiting your best friend from high school Dave will tell the best stories and Darlene will give you the best advice for area attractions and make some awesome coffee and breakfast You won’t want to leave!

I took my husband here for a surprise trip for our 11 year wedding anniversary We stayed in the Vintage View cabin and it was AMAZING! The food every morning was delicious and it was so quiet and peaceful The weather even cooperated

It only rained one night and it was later in the evening so we could fall asleep to it hitting the tin roof We had a great time wandering downtown Galax and checking out the sites on the Blue Ridge Parkway We have 5 kids so we don’t get to sneak away just ourselves often but we are already planning our next time to come back here!

We stayed in Bear Run for two nights and LOVED it! The setting, the lodge, the hot tub, the varied breakfasts, the charming owners We really liked that the area doesn’t have wifi or internet connection (at least not for our British cell phones), as it made it much easier to switch off and enjoy the setting If you plan on eating at the lodge, buy food a little earlier in the day as it is a >30 min drive to a grocery store with a full range of options for cooking

The kitchen is small but works well for preparing a simple meal We can’t wait to visit again one day

Alison Parrish

Writing this as we are headed home 😕 Wonderful, cozy, comfortable, peaceful, and delicious breakfast each morning The cabin we stayed in “Vintage View” had beautiful long range mountain views The owners were super friendly and responded quickly to my request to bring our 4 legged baby along

Enjoyed walking around downtown Galax, eating and visiting the little shops Would definitely return to Fiddler’s Roost and highly recommend to all our friends looking a peaceful get away

Was able to make reservation last minute in the late evening Staff was very helpful but did not like when I made the reservation that I was transferred to someone to sell me a vacation package, while I was trying to have dinnerThe room entire hotel areas that we accessed were very well kept up and clean

The pool and spa were open until ten pm! We were able to go for a swim after we arrived at around 8pmThe breakfast was top notch Very satisfied to receive a full breakfast with many options without sacrificing tasteThe only downfall was we requested a crib and received a pack n play Maybe hotels just don’t have cribs anymore?Would definitely book here again and makes us very willing to try other comfort ins when we travel

CM JORDAN

Room was clean and comfortable Staff was very helpful They were the only ones willing to rent us a room in the morning

We were willing to pay for the full day, even though we only used the room for a few hours (we had driven 18 hrs straight through for a delivery) The other hotels refused to let us check in until the afternoon ! Their loss was comfort inn’s gain! Was a nice stay Grateful for their good customer service

Carol Rollins

If breakfast is important to you, this is the best anywhere I’ve ever stayed on the road They have hot and cold cereal, biscuits/gravy, eggs, sausage, yogurt, waffle machines, fruit, etc The beds could be softer

comfort Inn used to have better beds I’ve noticed a change recently it’s very clean, and that says a lot nowadays, as far as carpet etc People are very friendly, and it’s quiet the tub is super slippery, which is dangerous I put a towel down inside it, as we are older Overall, I would stay here again

Great place for a great rate Loved the view and how quite the area was New River trail is right out front

The inside was very cozy and welcoming and had everything we needed for the weekend The hot tub was the best part, spent many hours relaxing and sipping wine even though the air temp was around 25-30° Was a great Birthday weekend getaway and look forward to going back

Bonnie Taylor

Beautiful site Cabins were clean and beds comfortable We rented the pavilion for a party and it was a beautiful setting! The kids caught catfish, bass and bluegill in the pond

We put them back so they are still there! Downside-trashcan was full and smelly so had to move it for the party, couldn’t get the hot tub to work and per my kids, internet never worked All in all though I highly recommend these beautiful cabins on the New River Trail and would have easily gotten 5 stars except for the few issues

Tim Lutz

Exceeded our expectations Cabin was clean, well equipped, and nice outdoor theme throughout The setting is quiet and alongside the Chestnut Creek spur of the New River Bike trail

Chestnut Creek rapids can be heard above any slight background noise Not far downstream is a waterfall Be blessed We were and are planning on making this our hub for future overnights in the region

WORST motel ever Their showers are supposed to be self-cleaning?! There was a used loofa and dirty towel in the shower Floor was so dirty

The smoke detector started dying and beebed every 10 minutes The coffee was water downed You might as well sleep in your car! The room checked in at 3am and yelled for an hour Horrible experience

Jerry Burkhardt

Room wasn’t quite as clean (time before I mean cleanest like my place ), mirror still had water spots and floor needed a bit of extra touch But it was after 4th of July when they were packed Will stay again

Staff often out of office cleaning rooms ONLY coffee in Office early til 9or 10A NO breakfast or room coffee Clean, well lit rooms Find breakfast nearby or several miles away in Hillsville

The remodeled rooms are fantastic They were clean, no mold in the bathroom (surprisingly unusual!), linens were clean, and the beds were comfy Upon arrival to this hotel, though, we were greeted by a guy who seemed more prepared for an evening on his couch with a bag of chips rather than checking guests into a hotel

As we approached the desk he stretched his arms overhead, revealing his entire belly Shorts were sagging so low his undies were visible I tried to distract my son (who has autism and would’ve pointed this out loudly) and keep coolThen, to add to the lackluster service, we were warned that the oven was out and breakfast would be bagged! We called before checking in to be sure there would be a hot breakfast and were assured the pancake maker, etc would be functional and a hot breakfast would be available The bagged breakfast was disappointing at best A muffin, small bottle of water and a box of cereal (dry of course) despite the sign on the elevator stating there would be oatmeal, warmed pastries and fresh fruit available For the price, this entire stay was disappointing We probably should’ve tried the Hampton Inn

C. Rochester

There were spiders in every corner and one directly above the bed I gave it two stars because the breakfast ladies were so friendly and the breakfast was really good The room was nice but not clean

Under the couch hadn’t been cleaned for a very very long timethere was a long dead centipede, candy and crusty crumbs Way too expensive of a place for that

Kt R

Friendly staff, clean lobby and public restroom Our hotel room smelled like BO when we arrived, and hit us in the face again when returning from breakfast, but the room appeared clean, and beds were comfortable

Large breakfast selection Nice indoor salt-water pool, but smelled strongly of chemicals, and burned our eyes We enjoyed dining at “Pizza Inn” across the street Not much else was open for dining, around the area
