Stay here instead of the chain hotels for the $avings If you can handle a few extra coats of paint It’s well maintained

They have great staff! It’s a clean motel with a continental breakfast The room cooled off quickly Good water pressure to blast the sand off after the dunes They have sleds to use Don’t forget the wax attached the sled box for a smooth ride!

Quiet Clean Comfortable

I booked a double through hotelscom and the owner suggested a single queen to save a few dollars since I’m on a solo trip Room 20 Garden View was perfect His wife came over 2 days later and inquired to make sure the room is ok and asked if I needed anythingRooms 14-21 face West (sunset) have chairs and tables outside the doors to enjoy those Alamogordo sunsetsThe location can’t be beat at the front end of White Sands Boulevard and all food options within walking distance or 1 mile driveI have two more nights here but felt this review needed to be put out there

The first thing that should be said about this place is that it is no longer the Magnuson Hotel It went private and is now called The Desert Aire MotelVery nice clean place, very big two and lots of parking available

They have a pool but it was not open when we were thereThey offer breakfast which is kind of rare these days with covid Kind of strange how you get it though You fill out a form and turn it in the night before, and the next day they call you when it’s ready and you go to the office and pick it upThe Wi-Fi there is very strong and reliable oh, we never lost signal it was not spotty like a lot of placesThe cost of the room was very good compared to other similar hotels I would definitely stay there again!

After coming over from the terrible neighbor hotel, days inn, this place was very good The rooms are nice and roomy The shower was absolutely amazing, nice and hot for a long time! And the breakfast was delicious, most of the staff was really nice except the little lady doing the breakfast, she was rude to my dad because he got a second cup of coffee and charged him for it

I think our stay here should qualify us for a couple cups of coffee Other then that lady, the stay was nice!

Verna Lumba

We stayed one night over the weekend to visit White Sands Good distance from the National Park, about 20 mins Staff were friendly

I guess I should have asked if the pool was open before booking because it was not, and it looked like there were construction going on with it so not sure if it would be open soon Hotel room seemed pretty clean We liked the style of the Hotel, and how it was painted Did not try breakfast there, they offered a $400 off coupon for one person no matter how many stayed Their little store inside looked very cute, had a lot of native items to purchase

I don’t usually write reviews but we recently had such a wonderful experience at Hampton Inn Alamogordo that I had to look up the hotel and write a review Thanks a lot to Jessica and her team for making my son’s birthday celebration the event of a lifetime We were all very impressed with the birthday room decorations she and the team set up

My son was pleasantly surprised at the Harry Potter themed gift basket he received! Jessica and her team have put a BIG smile on all of our faces! Our room was very clean and every staff we interacted with was super friendly In addition to the amazing service and accommodations, the hotel is very close to White Sands NP We were able to enjoy the spectacular sunset at White Sands without worrying about driving long distance back to hotel at night I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend it to anyone

Zeke Esquivel

Very nice hotel, stayed three nights and everything was in order Great employees, every one we interacted with was friendly and professionalOnly oddity, was that we arrived in Alamogordo a few hours earlier than we planned, and wanted to check in, shower, and rest a bit

We called and asked about this and were told that if we wanted to check in before 1500 that we would have to pay for half a day We anticipated getting there around 1300 and have never had this type of experience before at any Hilton/Hampton property so this certainly seemed off-puttingWe pretty much drove around, ate lunch and then parked in the parking lot of the hotel until about 1515 when we checked in Again all the staff was great so I don’t fault them for following whatever policies they are directed toWe plan to visit Alamogordo more often, and had hoped to make this our hotel of choice; perhaps this was just a one-off scenario, but we almost always try to arrive 1-2 hours early so we have time to freshen up and relax a bit so again this experience was a bit unexpected I realize and understand staffing shortages are a big thing presently, but expecting to charge a patron a half day when arriving 1-2 hours early seems shady – I’d expect this if I wanted to check in, at say 0700 in the morning and would be happy complying under that circumstanceAll in all, again nicer hotel than I expected, good breakfast -1 star for the half day charge situation, but again no ill will towards staff for doing as they’re told

Christine Martinez

Our room was spacious and very clean My review goes mainly to Andrew at the front desk he was very professional and made us feel right at home Every time we passed by the front desk he asked if everything was ok in our room

We visited multiple hotels to pick our favorite and Andrew talked us right into it… highly recommend this hotel no issues at all !!!! Great customer service!!!

Our stay was very nice and fairly comfortable We had a room with king bed, which took up most of the space in the room, so would suggest a room with smaller bed if you want/need some space Very small rail to hang up clothes and no dresser so basically had to live out of the suitcase

The best part of the stay was how nice the owners are; wonderfully friendly and offered up great conversation The room and bathroom was clean and quaint The breakfast is very light and mostly either from a can or defrosted from frozen A couple of suggestions would be to have coffee available throughout the day (instead of only at breakfast), and have cookies, fresh fruit, or some sort of light snack available mid-afternoon All in all it was an enjoyable stay, but just was slightly disappointed about the size of the room and the breakfast

Jerry Ilchena

House was built in 1905, the room was adequate, nice view of mountains and owners very nice couple Only issue with room was the floor slopping towards the head, so even with lots of pillows you still felt like the head was lower I like the way they added the shower over an old fashioned tub, but a non slip matt might prevent slipping especially when using dove body wash

Breakfast was adequate, coffee could use some more coffee as it was on the weak side I grew up in a coffee country in South America so I like fresh and strong One thing I would recommend is to bring a box of tissues as there weren’t any in the room Otherwise it was a nice visit to Cloudcroft The price was OK

Patience Blythe

Our stay at the Crofting was absolutely perfect I love all its nooks and crannies : the ambience is lovely We drove a long way to get there, and immediately upon arrival, felt instantly relaxed

It is so quiet and wonderful I love that there are no TVs in the rooms and that the floors squeak as you and others walk around: you can feel the age of this 1909 house in all the good ways! We slept so well in our quiet and comfy room The kitchen is beautiful and our breakfast was cooked with care The owners are wonderful to chat with and have created a respite from the busy outside world We can’t wait to stay with theme again!!!!

The whole place was very clean! We were very pleased at the cleanliness of the room The bed was a little firm but clean and comfortable The breakfast was also good

The clerk that checked us in was very helpful and friendly The room smelled like my favorite smell, the smell of nothing Good job to the person in charge of this hotel

Justin Bidal

Great little hotel, especially the breakfast with the waffle machine Room was fine, wished the bathtub had a stopper in it so that I could take a bathFor being a small hotel, it’s understandable why they don’t have an elevator, but for guests with a lot of things, it was a bit of a hassle going up and down on the outside stairs with my belongings

All in all, a great hotel with fair prices if you’re looking for a good place to stay

IB Long

Clean and quiet Amenities decent – coffee quality could be a bit better and drink machine not working, exterior grounds could be kept up better – but that’s pretty minor Price a bit high, but hey, what isn’t today? Location is excellent, close to shops, restaurants and hospital

Staff very accommodating and kind I’ll stay here again for sure Thank you!

Cute place, great spot to stay the night Kitchenette in the room had everything you might need, there were breakfast options outside the room, and the outdoor space was nice Creative use of all the spaces! The beds were so cozy! It was so nice to have actual linens and quilts, not the heavily sterilized, poofy coverlets in most hotels

Would love to stay here again when we go back to Cloudcroft

Kaija Fry

New owners are making the place even more enjoyable Very homey clean and comfortable I especially enjoyed the bedside reading lamp, which I don’t often find in hotels

The wife and I stayed for about a week while in town on business The staff is great! The breakfast is outstanding! Better than most hotel I’ve been to Jessy did a great job at taking care of our room

The front desk staff is always helpful and nice You have a new manager who seems to do everything and she does it with a smile and makes it a point to say good morning to everyone Excellent customer service! We will continue to stay at your hotel when we are in town! Great job!

Kerry Troche

This is one of the nicest places we have stayed at The bed was so comfortable and the sheets were amazingly soft! The room was spacious and had everything we needed They go the extra mile on amenities

We loved that we could choose our room from the online hotel map And the contactless entry was so easy The breakfast was huge! So many choices that included biscuits and gravy, omelettes, sausage, bacon, hash browns, oatmeal, cereal, muffins, fruit, etcThe price is a bit higher than some hotels but you definitely get what you pay for It was worth it! Plus they welcomed our pet!If you want an amazing nights sleep and great breakfast then this is the place for you I could have stayed a week!

L Stanley

Great place to stay! Very new hotel so everything is spot on neat, tidy & clean! The decor is nice, staff is friendly and they have a nice breakfast! The lobby has a nice seating area for resting and visiting, also a nice patio with comfortable seating and fire pit and nice view of the mountains There is a very nice salt pool and another patio with gills and even more seating We had a very nice stay here and would come back any chance we have

The location is nice for touring and fun White Sands is about 16 miles away On the same little service road is a large movie theater and a bowling alley with a nice pub with great food These are both in walking distance for a nice stroll with the Mountain View and beautiful sunset
