I’ve stayed at this hotel twice, once as a teenager with family and once as a single adult Liked it both times It’s a tiny time capsule surrounded by a big city that has passed it by

What follows pertains to my more recent visitThe rooms are affordable by LA standards, and the location was perfect for me I had an appointment at the Austrian consulate down the street, which I could easily walk to The hotel parking lot is tight, but there was enough room for my compact car There was also a security guard on duty at all hours, which made me feel better about parking thereThe room I had booked ended up having a plumbing problem, so the hotel management upgraded me to a two bedroom suite free of charge Very nice of them! The rooms were a little dilapidated but clean, and they had everything I needed Traffic noise was minimal and I slept wellThe one place this motel falls down is amenities There really aren’t any Not even a coffee machine or ice maker There was a continental breakfast when I first visited, but not anymore due to COVID Might be safe to start providing food again, no?WiFi was unusable from my first room, but adequate from my second Distance from router makes a big difference

Great place to stay near santa monica pier and LA in generalAs the cleaning lady said, “an oasis in the mean city” LolI rode my harley down from Bakersfield for a kings game and felt save leaving her there

Nice staff as wellOnly bummer was no coffee in room but, the fella workin over night brewed up on pot on my request and shared a mugDefinitely will stay again!

Great location, within walking distance to the Walk of Fame and a five minute drive to Universal Studios! Safe area with private parking (although parking spaces are tight) Relatively quiet for the location Our room was updated, clean, and comfortable for our short stay

It had both a nice size fridge and a microwave There were laundry machines and an ice-maker on our floor We tended to take the stairs (elevator was slow and often skipped the 2nd floor) which should be secured by a door requiring a keycard to enter, but we often found it never latched shut Be prepared to pay $22 a night for parking (which is cheaper than most of the area hotels) and if you speak to someone on the phone they will tell you they will comp it because you are a reward member, but you will get a different story once you check in Also, there is a $45 fee to check in early, but early is defined differently depending whom you speak to (on the phone we were told no fee after 1pm, in person it was the normal 3pm check-in time) There is a small pool and hot tub at the back of the parking lot which looked clean, but we didn’t utilize Front desk woman was definitely not so friendly or accommodating Juan, whom we spoke to both on the phone and in person demonstrated much better customer service, but did not fix the bill as promised Other than the check in experience and poor service from the front desk staff, the stay was good for the price (in Hollywood) and we would likely consider staying here again

Hans Glennford Romero

Currently staying here We will be staying from 7/16 to 7/19, 2022 So far it has been fun! The rooms are clean

The beds are comfortable The pool looks nice The rooms are properly ventilated and cooled Sleeping is so nice here and we’re planning to swim at the pool! Not forgetting the close access to the Walk of Fame and a drive to Universal Studios Hollywood!

Elina Gomez

Very dissatisfied Booked through the 800#, never was told that there wasnt breakfast, or that I would have to pay for parking This hotel should not be deemed a Best Western more like a Motel 6

I have used Best Western many times and this is the first time having having NO Service for the rooms Paying for parking, and zero breakfast accommodations People who checked in the 2nd night had cops there and the music was loud $500 for two nights not worth it Definitely in need of upgrading all the way around

I typically avoid writing a review unless it is a impactful experience, whether god or bad We happen to book a room for my family of 4 adults at this hotel for 2 nights The room was really cramped with adjacent queen beds and very little moving space for 4 adults

The first night we woke up at 3 AM with loud voices from our next room We first thought it was TV audio, but on closer review, it is a heated talk between a man and women We immediately tried calling the front desk and at the second try we were able to talk to the person at the desk The person informed that they will check and call back After some time, the volume of voice was down, but we could still hear talking noise We asked for change of room and we were told that the hotel is 100% occupied (Fair enough we need to trust what they say) Above all there is no complimentary breakfast and complimentary room cleaning, which was called out during our booking Overall our experience is not good By the way the atmosphere is very gothic which we did not like (personal opinion)

Rachel B

Ok so looking at the photos advertised by the hotel makes it appear way bigger than what it is For the bad: it’s really tiny In my opinion The room I had was cramped

The area isn’t visually appealing at all It looks like DTLA but not the greatest parts That’s what caused the three starsFor the good: it’s decorated REALLY REALLY cute It has a 1930’s Fred Astaire sort of vibe The lobby is awesome Whoever came up with the hotel design did a great job Finally, but it is actually number one, the staff is phenomenal The woman who checked me in, a beautiful African American woman was so hospitable I only mentioned her race so that if anyone from the hotel reads this, perhaps they’ll know who I’m talking about She deserves accolades for her kindnessOverall, I’m not sure if I’d stay again mostly due to the area If this hotel was closer to Rodeo Drive which is less than 7 minutes away, I’d definitely stay again, small room n all

hethir pharr

Stayed here for two nights while my dad had surgery nearby The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean I mostly want to comment on the front desk, especially Dwayne (sp?) who went out of his way to be accommodating

Honestly every staff member we came in contact with was a star and the house-keepers seem to go the extra mile Excellent coffee down the street as well

Not too sure what the other reviews were saying but I thought the staff was very friendly! The guy who checked us in was informative about where everything in the hostel was (bathrooms, kitchen area, luggage storage etc) Check in and check out process was quick and simple

I appreciated the covid screening We booked a 4-person female room and the ladies who stayed with us were all very lovely It wasn’t as noisy as we were expecting The bathroom was clean, I noticed they had a custodian clean the bathroom very often which was great The location was great for all our activities we did in the surrounding LA area I’d recommend it to anyone who plans on being out and about for 16 hours a day and only needing a place to sleep, as that’s what my friend and I did For the price, you really can’t be mad

Luke Bunder

If you are coming to Hollywood, do yourself a favour and stay here My wife and I stayed here in a private room First off, the location is awesome! Right in the middle of everything you want to see and right next to a big, secure parking area

The check in was quick and easy The people on the front desk were easy to talk to, light hearted and made us feel very welcomed We looked around the hostel before going to our room and it was open, clean and just really good vibes The people were friendly and fun, this was nice after such a long time travelling We then went into our room and were surprised at how big it was The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, it had an air conditioner and a bar fridge It was way better than I expected! The bathrooms were very clean too (which is always a bonus at a hostel lol) This has to be the best hostel I have stayed in Overall our stay was incredible and for a great price Both my wife and I highly recommend staying here

Levi Kuskie

2 stars for a 2-star hostel I stayed for 12 days, here’s my experience-nightly assaults from bed bugs, changing sheets did not help-the bathrooms are cleaned once a day in the morning, but the way people use them – there should be 2 cleanings a day People are gross-the shower doors are near see-through-the free wifi is sufficient-free breakfast from 6-9 (bagels, coffee, oatmeal)-loud parties in the common area at the end of the week, quiet hours are 12-7am so expect people to be loud until midnight

Raffaele

staff was amazing and very kind The structure has a great garden, safe private parking lot which was a lifesaving the building is old but wellmaintained

nice restrooms However i definitely do not suggest this hostel for leisure or travel purpose people there, are mostly workers (very educated and nice) not a right place to meet new people to hang out with

Haley Bennett

Great hostel in the heart of classic Hollywood, close to the Chinese theater and walk of stars The staff were very friendly, the rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean, and the water pressure was greatOnly thing I didn’t like is the AC for each room is controlled at the front desk so you have to call if you want it turned on or want the temperature adjusted

That felt awkward and we didn’t want to call too much, so ultimately we were less comfortable than we could’ve been if we had our own control

S S

I will say that if you are not a hostel person, this is probably your best option The hotel is really old, which did add to the charm, and though it meant facilities were also older, the place was clean I am not a hostel person, this I have discovered, but the place is safe and a good option if you just need a place to sleep

The staff were absolutely wonderful and the guests were generally really quiet and pretty mature The areaoh boy, well, it’s safe-ish Don’t wonder early am or late pm, be smart, and you’ll be fine Because it’s behind one of the main touristy strips, it’s heavily occupied by security and police, but do not stick out of the crowds If anything, it’s entertaining

Want to love it but I can’t Nicely furnished hotel in a solid location, but the overall experience leaves a lot to be desired Housekeeping seemed to consistently avoid my room for some reason, even after I mentioned it to the front desk staff

On top of that, there was also a leak from my bathroom ceiling 🤷🏻‍♂️ The rooftop pool and restaurant is nice but small, so expect it to be crowded if you visit at peak times

Greg Backstrom

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here when the water at our home wasn’t working for a few days The room was comfortable, the service was nice, and the restaurant is great The hotel has a sort of resort fee even though it isn’t a resort, but the nice thing is you get a credit for each night you stay that you can use toward snacks and drinks from their mini-bodega at the front desk

While there isn’t much that is walkable, there’s a lot within a short drive, and they provide a free Lyft ride to a nearby location

Susana Perez

The location is great The rooms were spacious and clean, overall However, the communication is horrible! Was never informed that housekeeping was upon request

Secondly, left some items behind called right away, stated they were looking into it Not one call back from my multiple calls I did receive a general email from Kristina, replied to her over a week Again, no word Take full responsibility for leaving $300 sneakers behind but a courtesy call back, would’ve been nice

Stayed here with family to go to Universal Studios for a night and ended up staying for 3! They were flexible with check in and accommodating to store luggage when needed The rooms were clean and spacious Stayed in a queen bed and then a king bed room and they were great

They had a mini fridge and microwave It has great surrounding food places and walking distance to a small shopping area

Kari Phillips

My wife and I chose the El Royale Hotel in Studio City because of its proximity to Universal Studios We stayed for 3 nights and were upgraded to a King Suite upon arrival to our surprise The hotel owner was gracious; professional; concerned about our stay; and very accommodating to our needs

We were pleasantly surprised by the appearance of our room and enjoyed our stay immensely I would highly recommend staying at this establishment for a romantic getaway weekend for two, or for a trip to the Hollywood Studios It is close to great restaurants and all of the major Hollywood attractions The neighborhood is clean and feels safe Thank you for a great stay in Los Angeles

Mikayla V

My boyfriend and I’s first time staying here this past weekend and we loved it! We loved the gate that closes at night as we had a rental car, and it was a 10 minute walk to Universal Studios! Saved on so much gas There’s an awesome burger place near by, only 5 minute walk, and a delicious Waffle House ask a 5 minute walk away from this location The flowers are beautiful outside and the updated shower was nice on the inside as well

The check in was quick and the hosts gave up a walking map to Universal Studios They were very welcoming and friendly We will definitely be staying again!!

Geo

Great place to stay It was nice and quiet, and my requests were attended to without any problems The king bed was comfortable, the A/C was nice and cold, the room had a mini fridge and microwave and the room was spacious

My only complaints are that we only get 2 pillows A couple more would’ve been nice Also, our door tag kept either getting knocked down or taken down when requesting cleaning service, so our room wasn’t cleanedOverall, it was a great place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone

Actually I was very excited to stay at the AKA Beverly hills, but unfortunately I have to say that my stay was not pleasant There were so many things that went wrong from the moment we checked in I stayed at the two bedroom apartment with a den and this a summary of our experience:1

The rooms sizes were good, but all windows are covered with a wooden blinders which do not block the sun light So for those who would like to stay late in bed, it is impossible to continue your sleep We had to order extra bedsheets to cover the windows Unless the blinders are not changed with blackouts it would unappealing for me to stay again at this apartment2 A major flooding of the sink happened the moment we used the sink in one of the bathroom We had to call the front desk and they sent us the maintenance woman to fix the flood which was an unpleasant experience that took time out if our schedule3 In the second night we decided to use the showers in the bathroom and there was no running hot water We called the front desk and they offered to send the maintenance lady in the morning because no one is available at that time Next morning the maintenance lady came and fixed the problem4 The walls of the apartment are so thin that it became so noisy for us with our upstairs neighbour If the sun light did not wake you up in the morning, the upstairs neighbours will

NEVER use AKA Surgical Aftercare, the nurse Collette and aid Nicholla for 12 hours on the overnight shift, offered much NEGLECT and ABUSE while I as chemical and physically restrained after surgery, they thought I would not remember I have the nerve to report this RN to the board it was so bad I was in so much fear, I had to tell them I was afraid of them and wanted to flee,,, , it was honestly one of the worst experiences in my life, I was so excited to stay here for the night 3000$ for an overnight of hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then they thought it was appropriate to sleep in the suite I paid for, while I was having a panic attack and physical complications , refused to help me!, almost damaging the doctors precious work, telling me the ONLY thing you can more is your head and then prompts me to move my head and neck all over the place these staff are incompetent, the nurse manager and head nurse are good, but they shouldn’t have left me in neglectful hands

Sophia Lauricella

Talk about LUXE – from service to the rooms to the location – couldn’t have picked a better spot to stay during my time in Los Angeles From the second I was dropped off, I was in awe of the staff – they even remembered my name, across various shifts! As someone who works in a consumer led industry, there’s something to that – means a lot One of my least favorite parts of a hotel is that there’s not enough room to actually ‘live’ but that is NOT the case at AKA

Not only do you get a full kitchen but living areas that aren’t just your bedroom This property is worth every penny, especially in a setting where there are quite a few 5 star hotels, you really get 5 star service at AKA

Nothing fancy but the basics are covered well: good service, friendly staff, clean and safe Fridge in the room, microwave and water dispenser in a shared area Car rental and dining options close by

Self park on the street rather than use their parking option if you know you’re using your car during the day I had groceries delivered from Target and they handled that well

Korina Juncu

what can i say the hotel is well located the rooms are clean

but I want to warn you that in this hotel I withdraw amounts from the card without agreement !!! keep in mind that you may be left without money for a while until you get it back within 5 business days! so I was charged 1000$ for a two night extension Now I have to wait 5 days for my money back I will say that I had completely different plans, but even for a non-corrector transaction, my plans burned out and my stay in LA leaves an unpleasant mark I asked twice how much money you would withdraw now, they gave me a printout where the amount for 2 nights was 46703 and in fact they took $ 1001 !!! this is terrible Unfortunately, I didn’t feel any better because of the apologies, since I’ve been at zero for 5 days

Gretchen Nicholson

The hotel was dirty, trash in the hallways when we got there was still there when we left 5 days later Our room had trash in it when we checked in We never saw any housekeeping at all

Had to go to the front desk for coffee, towels, etc Half the time the front desk was unmanned Absolutely no security The front doors were always unlocked and no one at the front desk The bathtub was extremely worn Hot water ran out during my shower Our sink faucet ran constantly The only good thing is the location

Very nice location with a delightful cafe on the main floor Our room had a great view of the Hollywood sign!I also really love all the Hollywood memorabilia adorning the rooms, hallways, lobby, even the elevator! This gem is a film buff’s dream come true

I was hoping the renovation and opening of the cafe would improve my experiance from the last visit I was wrong and only stayed 1 night out of the 4 nights booked I decited to go to another hotel after the first sleepless night

Who would remodel rooms just to put the stained, cigarte burned falling apart furniture back in the rooms on top of possibly new carpet that looks old and funky Im not a designer by any means, but the newly remodled rooms leave much to question

Exactly what you’d expect from a chain hotelFriendly staff and pretty tidyRooms are a bit dingy and ours felt damp all the time

Fine for one night but wouldn’t want to stay any longer A bit pricey at over $200/night for what they are, but that’s LA for youComplimentary continental breakfast is served in the lobby area and we thought it was a big plus Highly recommend getting in early to get fresh scrambled eggs

I would give the hotel itself 3 stars It’s just an average room I liked that it had a suite area and a balcony! The bathroom was insanely tiny

The pool was OK The spa was broken The breakfast was good It’s getting 4 stars from me because ALL of the staff we interacted was very friendly and accommodating I would stay here again
