I love the Sands! A historic treasure that I found extremely clean with exceptionally helpful and kind employees (everyone I met was wonderful), incredible views, fantastic tiki and restaurant/bar, and a beautifully maintained pool At night time, the lights in this place accentuate and compliment the beautiful property on the water Soothing and welcoming

To be fully transparent and honest, I was a little concerned when I first entered my room because it’s very outdated But there are very few historic hotels that don’t go through periods of transition, and the Sands is in a stage of upgrades What really blew me away is how meticulously maintained this property is The staff works so hard not just to welcome you to the property, but also to ensure all your needs are met and the room you have reserved is meticulously cleaned I was extremely pleased I was extremely comfortable, felt safe, and I slept better at the Sands than I have in nearly any other hotel True story 💜I look forward to returning to the Sands It’s a gem!

Overall I had a good experience It would have been nice if breakfast was available, and for my room to be cleaned I would often need to talk to the cleaning staff myself for my room not to be passed over The front desk gentlemen was professional and made a positive impact on my time here

The location is quiet and I would recommend this place to those not seeking a bustling nightlife Very chill environment If the stars ever align correctly I would like the chance to come back Something to note that wasn’t super clear on some travel sites is that there was a $200 deposit and parking is not included (5 day stay cost me about $120) Something to keep in mind

This hotel has the potential to be a nice hotel However, there are some issues that needs to be rectified During my 2 day stay my room did not have any hot water in the shower

I was told that the water only gets warm but the water didn’t even get warm It is obvious that the pool haven’t been cleaned in a very long time Plus the overall cleanliness of the hotel can be better Even though the rooms are decent and the hotel is in a good location The issues that I address tends to take away from the potential of the hotel

Ab M

Woke up and wanted to take a shower; the water was cold You can imagine how that felt They serve “breakfast”

Came down and it was a few apples, crunch bar and a few pre made ham/sausage burgers No veggie options Pool was not functioning Jacuzzi was dysfunctional Why did I pay that much money for? Would’ve been better off at Marriott or Hilton Staff was nice and respectful, that’s why the two star

Glenn Witherspoon (Spoon)

The cold water pressure varying during the day The faucet usually there no cold water, and the water is to hot to wash your hands The shower water pressure is very weak

Above the shower head, there peeling paint, you can see the green mesh tape The bathroom door get stuck The carpet is sticky, need to be steam cleaned The lobby is really nice, and they have great parking The staff are nice and professional

This place is ideal for a long weekend away! It is clean and quiet The staff is extremely friendly and available if needed They don’t clean daily, however if you need items, ie extra towels or sheets, the staff is on hand

The pool is kept very nice, and it is quite cozy It is surrounded by cute little light blue tables and chairs and beachy signs Upon arrival, the room includes beach towels and waters, compliments of the hotel The rooms are little tight if you get double beds, however it is still quite comfortable The bathroom is upgraded and the tub was like brand new I come down at least every 6 weeks, and this will be my new “go-to” Thumbs up Great Escape Inn!

I am Man Hear me Roar

I don’t understand how the reviews are so good It’s a roach motel that has been cleaned up and painted, but still a cheapo 1 star hotel Rust here and there, pool was dirty

I would’ve thought ok fine it’s still ok except the beds are INSANELY HARD and they only have twin beds You won’t get any sleep here due to the beds Twin beds, tile flooring, old fashioned keys, window air conditioneryou get the point Its a couple blocks from the beach too Not on the beach I won’t stay again only because the beds are way too hard

I’ve been going here for at least 8 years, now that there’s new ownership,i will not go back, the management did not let me know my door code ahead of time, had a long trip and was very tired, called several of there numbers, left voicemails, no call back, finally saw a number on the front door, which is not on the website, some lady gave me the code, next morning i was woken up by a bunch of men sawing trees at 8:00, no cable tv, the owners before treated me with respect, sadly I have to find a new hotel favorite next time I visit Lauderdale by the sea

The staff was very friendly and accommodated our early arrival We also really appreciated that they provided beach chairs and were so close to the beach The lounge air and furniture was nice but the pool was not in great shape and the ladder broke while one of us was on it

We were originally very pleased with the room because although it was outdated and a little run down it had a great kitchen and large shower However within an hour or so we started to notice large bugs, the first ones being found in the kitchen cupboards with the plates By the end of our one night stay we had killed at least 30 bugs and we lost a couple in our bags It made our stay very uncomfortable and made the room feel quite dirty Additionally the air conditioning remote didn’t work and neither did our key for the main entrance so we couldn’t all leave after regular business hours because there would be no one there to let us in To top it off the phone number associated with the hotel uses a system that makes it impossible to actually speak with anyone It was a very affordable stay so we weren’t expecting too much but the bugs were just a little too much for us and it’s very doubtful that we will be coming back or recommending the place to friends

This Hotel is at a Good location , and 2 blocks from the Beach The pool was clean However , I was surprised, that the place needed a Serious Upgrade, everywhere

Outdated mostly throughout the property Some experienced lost of A/C Electricity issues alsoI booked a 4 bed room and got a 6 bed room, in which it was Freezing cold to me, most of the time People live there, whoare not workers there Yolanda was the cleaning Lady, that is over worked, without Help She was kind The kitchen was a place that you would not want to use, unless you had to The microwave was awful, and the sponges provided, was filthy But I feel like it is Over priced for what you get This was a hostel room, not a private room You may want to spend more money, and enjoy your time, on vacation The overall atmosphere was OK The private room next to where I was had a a very dirty door, I was embarrassed, for the person that had to enter the room I was there about, a week ago I stayed a weekSo it is fresh on my mind Above all, I managed to enjoy my time in Ft Lauderdale There is no Office available, to Help, you, you are on your own Guest staying there, usually are willing to help The bus stop in front of the Hotel Bus #11 East You can get # 1 bus from the Airport, and take #11 at the Bus Terminal $200 I hope that this Help, people decide, and determine, what’s Best for themBest Wishes 2022❤️🌴

We requested early check in and no reply Fortunately the cleaning lady stored our bags in a closet Old but mostly clean, the electrical is VERY sketchy

It was inexpensive so I didn’t expect much, it did not exceed expectations The road is close and quite noisy, but short walk to the beach Local police said it’s a safe area Decent restaurants within 10 min walk

Let’s started by saying the hotel got an excellent location, is near to restaurants, coffee shops, etc, the kitchen is equipped, have elements to go to the beachvisitors and music are not allowed, careful with Mrs Silvia, she is rude, she thinks she runs a correction institution, not a motel

in this place there is no entertainment and you are no allowed to entertainment your self eitherI paid for a corner apartment and they gave a regular roomIt’s not allowed to leave the car in the parking lot after you check outEvery summer I rent at Las Olas and I never got problems but here the management Andres y Silvia super rude and not professional

We had a great stay and would definitely recommend! This place has a nice “at home” feeling It was certainly not a hotel, which we weren’t expecting or wanting The bonus was that the price was WAY BETTER than getting a hotel room

Jess was super nice and responded to a couple questions we had within a short time; she coordinated our arrival time well when we arrived a little earlyEntrances were private There’s a nice private common area with a hot tub and a grill The unit we stayed in had a private screened in porch area that is shared with another unitEverything was very clean and welcomingEven the Florida lizards were polite and fun to hang out with; especially Paco, who I think may have been part of the service staff But he kindly joined me and enjoyed my banana for breakfast; he was great conversationalist! It would be a perfect place to book a couple units for a family/friend trip or for just a quiet getaway

Only issue I had was the guest They were obvious drug addicts They were loud

I had to go off on them because of how loud they were The property manager did what she could to Accommodate and even get rid of the guest She offered a discount for my next stay Overall the property itself was very beautiful and clean I have no problem staying there again Sometimes they can not help who books there no matter how much their screen guest

Fraser Cambridge

Stayed here for 2 nights (Nov 2018) during a month long road trip around Florida, out of the 22 different places we stayed in during the month I ranked this 10th overallThe property is located on a busy road which we couldn’t safely turn left across, so we had to drive past and then come back to it on the right hand side Parking is provided off road between the street and the property

It’s about a 20minute walk to ‘Pirate Republic’ stop of the ‘Water Taxi’, Stranahan House downtown is about a 35minute walkI was a bit concerned about the entry system as the blurb says no one is on site after 3pm; we were due to arrive around 5pm However, Cynthia sent me an email a couple of days prior to our arrival date with the code for the front door Cynthia was actually there when we arrived, but this was unfortunately due to their having been an RTA that morning right outside the property which had wiped out a pylon and had cut off all the power! The electricity was literally reconnected by the power co as we walked through the front doorThe rooms were clean and well appointed The kitchen was well equipped (only place we stayed with a full oven/stove), although the coffee maker didn’t work very well during our stay The bedrooms do appear small as the bed takes up nearly all the space, but it is after all just a place to lay your head for a night or so There was no TV in the bedroom, just one in the decently sized lounge/dining roomThere is a guest laundry facility which was most welcome after 10 days on the road, and there is also a nice outdoor area with a grill for all guests to useThis is a place I would recommend staying at if on a tighter budget!

Very bad!Already on arrival, we were simply approached in the parking lot and received our room number and our pin for our roomThat was already the whole welcomeAfter that we went to the room and what can I say it did not get better

I don’t know how good reviews could be written hereWe have been traveling in Florida for three weeks and this hotel was by far the worst!!!!We did not have clean towels There were stains and hair on every towelWhich is why we had to use our beach towelsUnder our bed it was very dirtyThe floor in general has apparently not been cleaned in a whileOur door would not close properlyI could write more now, but in short just leave this hotel alone and book another one

Owner of Honu Cove, I tried to reach you I was also waiting 3 days for a call, of course no response! I will be filing a complaint against you Stop acting like you care for the public

This little hotel is a gem After a very traumatic day of travel my friends and I felt so welcome here The check in process was easy and the young lady in the office was wonderful

She gave us great recommendations for restaurants in the area Great restaurants are within easy walking distanceOur room was exceptionally clean It was basic but obviously is well maintained The hotel was quiet despite being full The courtyard area is cute We sat out there and met several others There are many types of beach equipment and toys available for use The beach is less than a block from the hotel Again an easy walkIf you’re looking for a safe, clean, quaint place to stay for a quick trip look no further than the Drift It’s reminiscent of the 1950’s mom and pop hotels

Daniel Rodriguez

I am trying very hard to enjoy this place I rarely write negative reviews publiclyThe first impression is very nice

A quaint courtyard with a jungle feel keeps things cozy But that is the farthest the allure goes, aside from having a roof over your head Upon arrival, they didn’t have any parking available, and was told by the gal clearly ignoring me that there was nothing she could do, so I had to pay $43 for overnight parking at the AC Hotel next door Maybe it was just the room I was put in, room 19, but it did not live up to my already low expectations The “suite” I booked is not a suite, with its 32 inch TV and refrigerator, lacking even an extra chair or microwave It was a standard hotel room The bed is as hard as a rock My feet picked up a lot of dirt once I hopped out of the shower and prod around the room I can hear a couple having a hushed conversation outside as if they were talking in a normal tone I will ignore the cracks and dents in the walls, but be sure to bring earplugs if you cannot sleep with an unrhythmic heater/fan blaring at you all night Bathroom and closet were nice, albeit the lack of any counter space I am not lying when I say the hostel I stayed at in Amsterdam for a quarter of the price was better It would have been worth the extra money to have something much nicer nearby

Brady Carolina

Extremely Disappointing Experience!Really neat, old-school, Boutique HotelWe were looking forward to our 1 night here before flying out the next am When we arrived, there was no where to park

Only a few spaces in front of the hotel, that were all full So, we had to drive a few blocks away and park on the street $6-$9 per hour for parking When we finally went to check in, there were a few shady looking street workers checking in, which put a bad taste in our mouth We were rethinking our stay at this point But, had already paid for the room and were exhausted, so decided to stay The room had an awful BO smell and we noticed an air freshener attached high up on the wall, which made it really hard to breathe and stay in the room, much less sleep at night! So, we quickly left and walked to a restaurant up the street Sure enough, the nasty workers were on street corner in front of the hotel, already putting-in work When we left the next am they were still out there 🤦🏻‍♂️ Not a good look for your beautiful, little hotel Management should crack down on this kind of soliciting going on at the property! The hotel should also inform you about the parking situation before arriving and booking a room It’s sad because this is a really unique, little hotel, they just need to manage it and run it a little better and get rid of the smells in the room
