Wish there was a zero This is party central Don’t expect to get any sleep, there will be loud music and traffic in and out all night

Suspect some “business” going on with the permanent residents and the “visitors/residents” they are hanging out with Don’t expect any help from the front desk Phone in room doesn’t work, bed was dirty/unchanged Had we gotten any earlier we would have never stayed even one night You are better off to stay in your car at Walmart

Sophie Didrichsons

As we arrive there’s shots fired and several cops

then getting to the room, not including the exterior of the place I’m quite disappointed Instant smell of urine, no smoke alarm, and only half the outlets work Just generally dirty no bath sized towels (in a two bed???) I’m happy at least the sheets were clean and there were no bugs Even at the cheap rate I wasn’t expecting this

Casey Parker

Not worth the money, we stayed for two nights, our room wasn’t cleaned after the first night, and don’t worry if you want new towels, you have to bring down your old ones to get new ones because apparently I now work at this hotel also, that is also after I had to talk to the employee and she had to call her management and get permission, Poor service and customer care Would not stay here again

Spacious room! Had a faulty air conditioner in my room, fan barely moved and it kept shutting off I told the front desk, maintenance came by and assessed the issue The manager said they would have a new one installed in 20 min

15 min later, a brand spanking new entire unit was installed The difference is night and day compared to the older unit Great service! 5 stars

Barbara Mason (Wax Boss)

We arrived without reservations The front desk clerk listened to our story and what we needed He then went straight to work on trying to meet our accommodation needs

He did! At the best rate possible too!! I am a rewards member with Best Western, so that’s one reason I stay at their hotels The room is very nice and spacious The bathroom has a handrail on the shower/tub combo to help with getting in and out Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, tv, and remote in the room A/C works great!

Excellent hotel that’s affordable and close to the airport! Beautiful setting with very little traffic noise Super comfortable beds, and high quality brand HBA samples in the bathrooms One of the most impressive hot breakfast buffets we’ve ever seen and that says a lot, since my husband and I have opposite tastes

(He prefers country cooking; I prefer lean and healthy) And did I mention the friendly staff?! One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at!

Our hotel room was beautiful I actually really liked the couch in the room! I also thought it was nice that they had a magnified mirror for makeup and soap/shampoo dispenser in the shower I also thought we had a great view with a cute little patio area

They did have a little area you could order breakfast from but the selection was pretty small and I thought kind of expensive but I was glad they had milk for my son We will definitely be back

Jonna Nevins

I felt so lucky to find this place to stay after having sewage issue at our own place, and the hotel next door Extended Stay cancelled my reservation as they were somehow “overbooked” The place is very clean and quiet, and the staffs are extremely kind and helpful all the time The bed is very comfortable to sleep and surrounding environment is very nice for suburban hotel

The management is very helpful to accommodate our unique situation for adjusting staying duration, and I just cannot say enough thanks to that I would highly recommend this place to anyone who need a nice place to say in south KC area!

Katrina Rush

This hotel is not expensive There were some strains on my sheets They looked like water stains similar to what you get on the ceiling

The room didn’t have any extra blankets for the pull out bed The staff was helpful in person, but impossible to reach on the phone I also thought it was weird that you had to put in a reservation for the pool It was a good enough value for the price

I am a travel nurse and I’ve been staying here a few days a week for the past few months on work nights When I first started staying here I’ll admit it had some sketchy people and not so great things But now I can see a lot of changes have been made since the new manager, Teresa, stepped in

Better quality staff and service The rooms have been remodeled and the furniture is up to date Better quality in room cleanlinessI definitely give her and the staff working here a 5 out of 5 A place of business and a place of work are made of the people running it Good job guys!

Front desk attendants were really nice Lobby area was good but had mattresses stacked up near the stairway Not the cleanliest place to stay

Outside area was not well maintained nor was the first floor room we occupied for an hour It reeked of smoke, chair was tattered and broken, looked like cigarette burns on the bed covers The pictures provided on booking sites show a decent hotel, but this was not our case I am not a Choice Hotels patron and I will continue to not be*UPDATE AFTER REPLY FROM BUSINESS: Please respond to calls and messages in regards to our stay We have not been refunded and we were told we would be by the attendant that night Our brief visit was November 6, 2021 We have been calling, inquiring, and sent on a back and fourth goose chase since then I will not be returning to this establishment, but you can make it right by honoring what the friendly front desk attendant said she would do

Queen Sentira Ramos

The reviews do not do this hotel justice at all This a ghetto, 1 star hotel Rooms are ok

You get what you pay for but 10000 price for incidentals? It should be 5000 just because of how gross this place is The staff is very friendly as they should be grateful to even have guests Our room’s door was broken and didn’t lock 1 lamp worked, the other didn’t The walls are very thin The whole place smelled like fungus or mold and smoke The breakfast was disgusting and hardly an actual “breakfast” it shouldn’t even be advertised not that I would trust any food from this place It was a short notice stay so we had to but had we been prepared for a last minute stay we would’ve picked a better place (it was a Saturday night and everyone was booked up) Stay somewhere else I didn’t even feel comfortable using the bathroom

I hate having to leave this review My husband and I stayed here recently on our honeymoon and were so disappointed I read google reviews before we booked and a number of them mentioned it being dirty but we decided to go ahead and give the hotel the benefit of the doubt

The lobby was pretty dirty; we understand it was snowing outside but it still could’ve been better maintained The carpet in the hallways leading to our room were pretty dirty as well And when we arrived in the bedroom the floor was also in need of vacuuming, lots of hairs The tub had what looked like a few red crayon streaks; the soap bottles were not filled all the way; there was a half used roll of toilet paper in the bathroom in addition to a full one By the fake tree there was a rose petal on the floor, definitely not ours There was a chunk of something in the bottom of the mini fridge Also pretty noisy being New Year’s Eve We’ve stayed in cheap hotels that were much more sound proof and a lot cleaner Overall very disappointed for the price we paid and for all it’s hyped up to be The lady at the check out desk was not very friendly and didn’t ask how our stay was This is a beautiful unique building and has a ton of potential but definitely needs better management

Nickole Bribiesca

Everyone was very sweet and awesome Which made the stay pleasurable Learn the pricing before you order, I’m not sure we ever see the breakfast pricing and was surprised at the bill but you absolutely pay for convenience

Things were clean and worth saying again- staff is amazingPerfect placement being close to anything you can think of while also being slightly tucked away The traffic and hustle of the Legends down the street has no effect of the peaceful and romantic ambienceI would recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway or staycation that can afford the luxury the Chateau Avalon provides It’s not a budget hotel but again, provides the luxury you would pay for

Akimi Weller

Hotel when walking in is not very inviting We got checked in and went straight to our room The front desk gave us two vouchers for drinks since they couldn’t get us in for couples massage

The room was not how the pictures show it We got the Lincoln room which felt smaller than I was thinking it would be There’s no closet space to hang clothes or coats The hot tub does get very hot and filled up Their bar is what we loved the most The service in the bar was very pleasant and their drinks very tasty Bed in our room very comfortable

This hotel was clean, but very comfortable The bed did not sleep well It was not very balanced

I felt like the foot of the bed was higher the head of the bed And the sides of the bed caused me to have a back ache My wife and I stay 3 nights After the first night the elevator was out order This was very uncomfortable for my wife because she had trouble going up and down the stairs Because has nerve damage in her legs I will not recommend this hotel to any friends or family members

Kathy Wagner

Booked a handicap room and it was a total joke First the room looked like it had been in a war zone with patched over holes in wall, walls were very dirty and the room was so small I could not turn my wheelchair around The bed was 36″ high which was way over recommended height of 20 to 23″

The shower had NO water pressure and the bathroom floor kept catching my walker wheels almost dumping me a few times The shower did NOT drain properly causing the floor to become very slick The parking lot did NOT have handicap parking and the sidewalks were blocked by employee’s car causing me to use the parking lot to enter building NO automatic doors and breakfast was terrible DO NOT stay here

Robbie Wolfe

The staff is very nice albeit not always professional I had the live in handy man pick me up from the airport in the shuttle 🤷 The rooms look nothing like online It’s a pretty rundown hotel that they are currently tight budget remodeling

Not great place for asthmatics as there’s lots of smoking around and seemingly sometimes in the buildingWe needed a place in a pinch due to a flight cancellation and paid $110 for a double queen for 3 people There is a minivan airport shuttle and a pool that’s heavily chemicalI still give it 4 stars as it’s a 2 star hotel They don’t try to make it the Ritz It suited our needs and the mattress was brand new but if you can afford it or need more than one night then I would look around at the 50 other hotels

When visiting the area near Worlds of Fun, there are several hotel/motel options in the immediate vicinity; namely due West of the amusement park across Interstate 435 on Randolph Road/Corrington Avenue Going back some 15 years ago, many of those options weren’t bad at all, with one or two higher-priced optionsFast forward to 2022, and some of the motels are turning into places were the homeless or less fortunate live all the time

So finding a decent stay in that area is actually quite challengingFortunately, this hotel is still holding true to being a quality place to stay, and at a reasonable price The Staff are friendly, and the hotel is clean The rooms are what you expect with the normal amenities (TV with cable, coffee pot, etc) Access is through main doors to help with security This is a plus given the locationThe only thing to be concerned about (and honestly this is not the fault of Super 8) is the deterioration of the surrounding area Again, other motels very close by are not the basic bargain motels of yesteryear, instead hosting recent crimes as stand offs, assaults, and theftsMy wife and I were hosting our oldest son, his wife, and our grand daughter for a weekend We live close by, so we wanted them to be close by as well Given our local knowledge we had to do our homework and go through the reviews of all the hotels there and found this to be the best We weren’t disappointed, and neither was our son and his familyIf you are planning a visit to say Worlds of Fun and want to stay very close to the Park, this is really your one good option without paying absurdly high prices or settling for a 15+ minute commute from the Park to your hotel

Philip Dodd

The lady at the front desk was awesome, she gets 5 stars! the only reason I gave 3 stars is the jacuzzi had 15 spots were the coating was chipped off and the shower had 1 spot that was chipped off Since the jacuzzi is made of fiber glass underneath the coating, we didn’t get a chance to use it, I didn’t want to risk getting literally getting covered in fiber glass Other then that the room was really nice, and for the price it couldn’t have been better

I’ve paid more for a room without a Jacuzzi that wasn’t as nice as this one, and couldn’t hear other people in there room untill they open there door So the sound deadening was remarkable I’d stay there again if they fix the jacuzzi

Brandi Moss

This place was horrible First off you must have a credit card and an id that matches So you can’t use your husbands credit card with out him

Secondly our bed was broke and my son cut his hand on it when the bed slipped off and he fell The rooms were musty and moldy smelling The door frames were all bent like someone had tried to pry the doors open The lock on the inside was broke The gentleman that checked us in was hateful The only positive thing was the beds were comfy, but super small they are only a full size bed

We stayed here a few years ago and for a cheap room it was great This time was not at all the same experience Mini fridge was working so we told the desk

Maintenance came at like 10pm then they were super rude and didn’t do anything to help us We saw roaches in both of our rooms We stayed 3 days and they never had coffee ready before 830 am and the creamer, sugar, cups, stir sticks were constantly empty They used to have breakfast so we were expecting that only to find out they no longer do that We are a family of 7 so for what we spent on breakfast for 3 days (since only 1 of the rooms had a working mini fridge) we could have just stayed a better motel Also the first day house keeping didn’t take out our trash or bring us new towels or anything We can make our own beds But clean towels would have been nice Also there wasn’t a bag in our trash can to begin with so I dumped it in the big bin since they didn’t empty it and then they got upset with me because it wasn’t in a bag We will stay elsewhere next time but I was super disappointed because last time we stayed there we really did enjoy this place

Laci Webb

1 star is too much for this place, I’d give it a 0 if I could! The police were there off and on all night dealing with people staying in this motel, it definitely didn’t feel safe We needed to shower but the shower was disgusting!! It looked like they never changed/washed the shower curtain I had to keep my shoes on because the carpet was sticky

We found several cockroachs during our 1 night stay Other guests hair EVERYWHERE This place was just overall very rundown and not taken care of We didn’t even feel comfortable sleeping under the blankets, bedding was stained up very badly We just used our own blankets and slept on top of the made beds Overall just very disappointing and will definitely not be back

Ivan Henson

I prepaid for the room months prior I got to find 6:00 telling you they were cancelling my reservation because I have not checked in yet I’ve never heard such insanity

They were trying to double charge roomsReally crowded and busy with lots of music and pot in the parking lot

I never stayed here, but my parents did A tragic and disastrous event happened in my hometown It destroyed our home, and I was put on a med-flight to KU, three hours away

During my time in the hospital, I don’t know what I would have done without the support of my family Friendship Inn made it possible for my parents to sleep in a bed, see me, and have some sort of calm in such a horrific timeI am forever grateful, and forever in their debtYou’ll find no place better, more welcoming, and more understanding of the needs of patients and family

Along with her numerous other shady business practices and endeavors, Elsa is a true professional in the way that she takes advantage of good, well meaning people in addition to exploiting her hardest workers for everything they have She is kind to people who she feels can benefit her and once she no longer feels they have anything to offer her she behaves in ways that can only be described as vindictive The hostel itself is very clean thanks to the people she exploits and the beds are comfortable

A great hostel for a very brief stay but I cannot in good faith recommend staying for any extended period of time

Richie Redpill

I booked there and they were closed but the lady decided to pet me stay there for free I thought that was nice but I quickly realized what was going on There us a man staying there for free and first thing she said about him was that he would be kicked out soon

I can see that she thought I was down and out because I drove an old van and looked a but run down myself What she realized is that I’m not broke and am not trying to live for free so when I asked to stay another night and pay, she said “You have to pay for 2 nights” and then asked me some inappropriate questions because I can assure she thinks I am involved with illegal activities LOL She wants to think that So just a heads up It is a nice location but this woman is a narcissistic of the worst kind She tells you how horrible human beings are That’s all you need to know

One fourty five IQ

Stayed for one night and I would absolutely stay again Beautiful, clean accommodations The bedrooms are immaculate and the beds are very comfortable and clean

They provide sheets, pillows, towels The bathrooms are very clean There are two showers and two bathroom stalls that are shared between men and women on the same floor But provided the place isn’t packed, it seems to be enough Two great big friendly dogs will greet you at the door and bring their toys and kisses There is a bit of parking in the back which I would highly recommend because although the house is beautiful and a wonderful place to stay in Kansas City, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy so I wouldn’t recommend walking around at night But if you drive in, absolutely stay here! Also the hosts are absolutely the best!

STAY ANYWHERE ELSE THAN HERE!! Worst experience in a hotel I’ve ever had!!! The many issues I had had the following major complaints about my stay were:1 I was almost attacked by a guest’s large dog in the lobby, and staff (or guest) didn’t seem to care2

My room was not cleaned properly (stains all over carpet and nasty soap scum in bathtub)3 When I asked for clean towels, I was told to bring down the old towels down to the lobby Then once I got there, I waited for almost 20-30 minutes just to get clean towels (front desk staff was nowhere to be found for a long time)4 Noise upstairs during the night, which made it difficult to sleep during the night I had requested a top floor room during my booking online (made many days before) and yet my request was not accommodated for!5 Coffee machine broken at breakfast – staff didn’t seem to care when I made the complaint6 Lots of sketchy people (on drugs?) and homeless folks around7 Hotel was run down, in bad shape, and in a horrible area of town Felt like it was not renovated from the 1960’s Not sure how it is still up to codeThis hotel is a health hazard and safety and cleanliness should be the first priority for their guests!! This is a lawsuit waiting to happen! This experience, by far, is the worst I’ve ever experienced being a frequent traveler Staying in 2-star hotels in underdeveloped countries were a far better experience than being at this hotel The front desk staff don’t seem to care about providing good customer service and prioritizing safety of their guests!

latonya pickron

Nice hotel for the price The staff was very nice and friendly They even had breakfast which is a surprise because the price is so cheap, it was waffles, yogurt, apples, orange/apple juice machine, coffee machine, and cereal and milk

The room was nice and cozy with up to date fixtures My complaints were the floor was not cleaned really good in the restroom and one spot on the carpet, the fridge had an old spoon inside the freezer and the bed was hard as a rock, but it was clean They had an ice machine on the first floor only and our room was on the third floor and they don’t have elevators But the staff was kind enough to offer us a room first floor

Connie Hawes

The first room they gave us the TV didn’t work and the phone to call them didn’t work The smell was terrible, like dirty disinfectant They moved us to the next room, where instead of a compact fridge like the previous room there was a 1

5 cu ft fridge sitting on the luggage rack And it didn’t work and smelled bad It was 95° outside so the ac was running, but it was still so humid my clean clothes were slightly damp I was looking forward to a shower I turned it on and it was very hot As I turned the handle towards cold the knob came off in my hand, so no shower The sink had whiskers from the previous occupant I have always had a good experience at Super 8 motels, but this has soured me on them
