The rooms are beautiful and unique, charming and certainly not cookie cutter My wife and I had the “hideaway room” with it’s own private staircase and entranceBoth my wife and I had incredible massages from Kristina, one of the best I’ve had

It’s so nice to get a beautiful relaxing massage and then roll back into your room and enjoy the experience, rather than drive back to your roomThe French bakery on the ground floor is a Must Authentic Parisian cuisine, freshly made pastries, souffles , hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads , coffee and moreYou have the best view of the bay and the Rock and everything is within walking distance plus, hiking trails all around you, through the estuaries and foothillsWe just loved our stay here !Thank you Val 😉

Brittani Rothenfluh

My husband and I have been together for 8 years and have never taken an overnight trip without kids This location was perfect for that! We loved it We booked The Hideaway room and not only was it very private and had its own stairwell to the outside of the hotel, it had such a great view

We will be staying here every year now It had a very cabin feel but a little industrial thrown in (exposed sprinkler pipe) So awesome! There was a couch in our room that overlooked the marina & we were right above a French bakery and our favorite, Frankie & Lola’s We did not take advantage of the spa this time, but will next time! Additionally, the owner was the nicest woman She made sure we liked the room, and let us know to call if we needed anything She also left a very nice bottle of aged Firestone for my husband I told her I wasn’t a wine drinker because of headaches😕 Another thing we really liked was that this place only has three rooms so it’s not crowded, nor does it make you feel unsafe like some places do We felt completely safe And don’t let me forget the King size bed This was not an ordinary hotel bed, it was extremely comfortable with a super soft blanket and down comforter You’ll love this place!

K. T.

My husband and I stayed in the Big Sur room and it was fabulous Comfy king size bed, clean and a ceiling fan that kept it nice and cool We had a beautiful view of Morro Bay rock

Everything was in walking distance (food, shops, the water) It was very nice to stay somewhere without a lot of rooms and people We enjoyed listening to the sea lions and seagulls Would definitely recommend and we’d definitely stay here again Also, great massages with the massage beds literally steps away from the room

Loved this place, and will likely be back Dog friendly, nice area to walk around in Plenty of grassy spots along main street where you can take them to potty, and they even gifted me a doggy bag holder to clip on my leash

The room was clean and comfortable and had a lovely balcony with a nice view Good coffee k cups, so I was able to make a nice cup of coffee in the morning and sit on my balcony and enjoy

Anna Solyarik

The value is definitely there! Luckily we got a room with a small patio that had a view of the Morro Rock – even though we didn’t stay in the room very long, it was nice to see The shower took a while to get hot but it did eventually and the bed was very comfortable Also nice to have a television for late night tv

The check-in and check out experience was very easy with friendly staff The decor was a little drab but the cost made up for it

Immediately upon arrival, the check in staff were professional, but kind and humerus We felt very welcomed As we entered our room, the ocean view was breathtakingly gorgeous and the room was very clean and great size

Exploring the beautiful grounds and the lovely pool, we took the stairway that led down to a relaxing walk on the beach It was an easy walk to the Pismo pier and my husband had recently had a knee replacement The continental breakfast was perfect for days we didnt want to leave early Also, the owner Henry and Security Officer Andrew, were extremely helpful with a few things, including my unfortunate trip to the hospital in an ambulance for chest pain They treated me like family We have already booked another date with them We can’t wait to return and we highly recommend a stay here

Gayle Pollard

The view and hearing the ocean from your balcony make this a wonderful place to stayI contacted them before my visit to inquire on something and they were prompt and helpful in reply They were helpful again when I realized I was missing an item which they had and are sending me

If you want “fancy” this is not for you, beautiful views, good service and clean surroundings make Kon Tiki a great place to stay

Carissa Mulock

View from your balcony was stunning Loved the recliner sofa but the bed was horrible Stayed 4 nights and upon checkout I let them know the bed felt used up and they needed to replace

She said they all were two years old! For $300 a night they should invest in better beds that will last them much longer Breakfast was limited No real hot breakfast items Honestly if it wasn’t for the horrible bed I’d come back just for the hot tub and view

Lovely little dog friendly hotel/motel in SLO Our first trip here me and my pup The grounds are sweet with a nice porch for lounging on and mountain view

Every morning they had a very substantial continental breakfast with excellent coffee! Breakfast room was decorated with fun art of dogs on the wall In the afternoon if you want to take your wine on the porch they have a few crunchy snacks for accompanying as well as newspapers I was in room 117 which is right in the front I has no issues with street noise but I did have AC on But it was never noisy during the day The room was pristinely clean and serviced every day (don’t forget to tip your room attendants each day you are there!!) Mattress was so good I was interested in finding out the brand of it I called up there and Oscar at the front desk went out of his way to go to the room and take a pic of the mattress tag and text it to me Everyone there was very nice and helpful but had to give Oscar a special shout out for going the extra mile Lastly the price was extremely reasonable for my room and my dog rate I can’t wait to return and next time I will stay longer Thanks so much

Aashish Singh

It’s a really budget inn but maintained well Rooms are in desperate need of renovation Hated the bed

I got neck pain by sleeping on it Only go if you need a stopover inn (like I had to) and getting a super cheap dealAt least offered breakfast which was average but a good deal Car can be parked right outside room Bad bed caused the rating to be a 3

Quaint hotel close to everything but far enough away for peace and quiet Very clean, comfortable rooms Excellent hot, gourmet breakfast served to your room

Staff were very helpful and super friendly While the hotel itself is older, the rooms have been nicely updated with wood floors, bathrooms updated, nice furnishings, with fridge and coffee maker We requested a microwave and were provided it Lots of outlets for phone etc near bed Some rooms are dog friendly

R Dillon

The Staff were really friendly and helpful The location is fantastic The property needs renovations

While beds are very comfortable, pillows need replacement and bathrooms need updating I found the coffee and food to be of poor quality A much better use of their budget would be to invest in a good coffee maker and offer that or tea-in place of the current breakfast offerings

Maria Krasilnikov

Great location, room, and the included hot breakfast was also delicious! But the shining star of our experience was the hospitality On the day we checked out, we realized our car had a flat tire While we were waiting for our insurance roadside assistance, the hotel manager (without prompting) called various tow companies nearby to make sure we got the best rate and even offered to change our tire himself! We will definitely be back!

Hmmm

well this place is ok but it’s in need of “better/proper mngmnt ” that said the house keeping is bad The place needs to be cleaned thoroughly I also had a friend that stayed here and unfortunately she didn’t have a cell so wen I would call the person running the B&B would never answer the phone according to him he said “that he wouldn’t answer # that he didn’t recognize” mind you this is a place of business so I’m sure if anything you would have to answer all calls in order to rent rooms out it would seem to me that he was avoiding renting rooms out I do think the place has potential but it is in need of a good deep cleaning and some one who is willing /wants to work /answer calls and run the place so that it can make money

This is my second year in a row staying here because I love it so much! It’s a former family home, so each room is a bit different and decorated in a very cute way The bathrooms are shared, but each room has a sink Breakfasts are home-made by the wonderful women at the hotel every morning, and there is a nice terrace upstairs to get some fresh air

For the price, you really can’t beat it

Jacquelyn Alonso

Love the Heritage Inn My second time staying here and it’s a different experience each time Stayed in the Mountain View Room this time

Learned from a local outside the Inn that the peak we see from our Mountain View room balcony is Cerro peak, one of the ‘nine sister’s’ ancient volcano cores Love the garden and stream behind the Inn for my boys to explore Gloria taught us about the butterfly plant and caterpillars It’s a place to escape your device’s and enjoy history and nature

Absolutely beautiful getaway My fiancé and I went here over Memorial Day weekend for a couple days and it was perfect The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was right on the water with a patio overlooking the water

Great for reading or just relaxing, looking out, and enjoying the view Their breakfast was delicious (try the breakfast burrito with sausage!) and it’s located in a cute town within walking distance of several restaurants and a great local bakery The Back Bay Inn is a gem and not to be missed!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this small motel located right on the bay Good size spotless clean rooms Nice grounds and great view of the bay from every room

Some rooms have a patio or balcony facing the bay Great breakfast and nice wine reception every day Very small business area adjacent to the motel with good dine in or takeaway food options: mexican, Thai, sandwiches, pizza and craft beer/pub food Only drawback is no microwave in the rooms – only a fridge and a Keurig The microwave in the breakfast/ reception room is only available in the morning (8-10) or early evening (4-6)

Cass House Grill in Cayucos is a fairly new restaurant for this little beach town They just opened in June of this year The food is great and the atmosphere low key

It’s outdoor seating in their pavilion but it’s sheltered enough and there are heaters above all of the entrances so you will not be cold The food is served family style Each of the dishes are large enough to feed 2 people I picked 3 items and had them brought out in courses It’s all locally sourced in Cayucos and the other surrounding towns They also have a vegetable garden on site They also have a bakery on site that makes all of their desserts and baked goods for breakfast This was a pleasant surprise during my weekend stay and I will definitely be coming back! If your are looking for something a little nicer for dinner, this is the place try

Kay Murphy

The restaurant I’d planned to go to was closed for some reason, so I strolled down the street to the Cass House Boy, am I glad I did Short version: Great service and terrific farm-to-table food

Long version: Generally, as a woman traveling alone, I’m accustomed to receiving poor service, even in nice restaurants I think there is a bias that goes with the assumption that women, especially older women, don’t tip well (I do; all my kids worked in food services growing up) At Cass House, my server was terrific–quick, helpful, giving recommendations when asked for them but not pushy She helped select the perfect wine as wellMy food was to-die-for delicious As a vegetarian, I sometimes struggle to find just the right menu item The Cass House menu had plenty of choices for me, and with my server’s suggestion, I decided on the roasted cauliflower Oh my goodness! It was perfectly cooked with toasted almonds and sesame seeds, plated in a pool of delicious yogurt and covered with a pomegranate vinaigrette that was out of this worldI seriously cannot wait to return–and I live hundreds of miles away Next trip up the Central Coast, though, I’ll be stopping at Cass House for sure

James Bostock

Overall an outstanding restaurant Attentive and knowledgeable waiters and just as good in the kitchenIt’s a prix-fix menu and as most of the 4 courses had 2 choices we pretty much tasted everything

We didn’t get any of the optional courses (sliced meat and also cheese) as unless you’re a professional eater you’ll be done after the 4th course for sureHighlights for us was the Melon appetizer (various melons with crackers and shaved feta), the fennel bread, and both dessertsNone of the courses disappointed and would highly recommend

Absolutely love this place! This hotel is perfect for self-sufficient travelers There’s no front desk–they just text you codes for the front door and your room I never expected how nice it would be after a long drive to just go straight to my room, rather than dealing with check-in

Beyond that, the place is gorgeous My room was spacious with excellent bedding and a fabulous shower & toiletries There’s a shared living room area that was very cozy We spent mornings sitting on the couch drinking coffee and listening to records What a great way to start the day! There’s also a nice shared wet bar area that has excellent coffee, very fancy teas, a bottle of complimentary wine, as well as some additional treats that popped up now and then What a great home base for our trip to SLO!

J.D. DAVIS II

Came to SLO for my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay at The Butler Hotel This was a new type of stay for us as there is no front desk, however once we walked in we immediately understood that this property was special and didn’t require one They email and text you the code to the front fore and the code to your room

Upon walking in we were shocked at how nice everything looked and the attention to detail with the design There was a bottle of wine and local treats on the bar, and cute little reading/sitting area, and the interior design was amazingAs for the room, we loved the tall ceilings, lighting, and bathroom design Everything just seemed to flow wellI would definitely recommend this place!

Megan Howarth

There’s a reason this place gets almost all 5 star reviews- it’s honestly perfect If there was a rooftop pool I’d want to move inIt’s definitely different

If you love the experience of staying at a hotel, this might not be for you If you want the feel of an AirBnB with the hotel touches, this is the place If you like great design, thoughtful touches but don’t want to interact with people, this is the placeThere is a contactless check-in, you simply punch in your special code The bar area is set up with complimentary wine in the afternoon and a nice continental breakfast spread in the morning (little Danishes that tasted so fresh, muffins, fruit, etc) There is a lounge area with beautiful seating, a record player with great albumsWe stayed in Room 4 and the bed was so comfortable The bathroom was clean and spacious Every detail is well thought outThe main area was a bit warm during the day with a large fan running, but our room was perfectly ACedWe took advantage of the bikes and cruised around the downtown area, all the way to Madonna Inn and to the SLOMA We also sat outside in the morning with our coffees, which you can prepare with the french presses set up in the kitchenI don’t have plans to be in SLO again, but if I did, I would 100% stay here againKelly was The Butler and so helpful with any questions we had Thanks Kelly!

My family and I have been going to this motel for at least 5 years It is easily a 10 out of 10 The staff are super friendly, and have an amazing garden to relax in

We stay in the West Wind room, its always spotless, and the only sound you hear at night is the waves of the ocean It is also in a great location as its in perfect walking distance to restaurants, grocery and liquor stores, cafes, shops, and the pier Also has an outdoor exit in the garden that is a quick walk to the beach, as well as a hose to wash the sand off your feet when you get back Speaking of garden, its absolutely beautiful, has lots of decorations, seating, and even BBQs (You probably need permission to use one) If you’re going to Cayucos, I highly recommend booking at this motel

For the SLO Wedding Planners holiday party, I had the opportunity to work with SLO Brew Lofts for our annual fundraiser It was so convenient to our guests since we hosted the after party event directly below it at The Carissa and in downtown SLO The rooms were nice and roomy with modern & fun decor

We will definitely be referring all of our clients to reserve for their accommodations when hosting an event!

The SLO Brew Lofts is a super FUN place to stay! It has a great atmosphere with modern decor, spacious and inviting! As a local wedding planner, I love recommending this place to my couples for accommodations for their wedding weekend, bachelorette or bachelor weekends, or even just a FUN stay while their in town! A little staycation here would be a dream as well!

Pros: Central location close to great eats, drinks, and shopping Spacious, comfortable, attractive and well-appointed accommodationsCons: Noise level from the bar/club below the lofts can be intense

I cannot overstate the negative impact of the noise on our stay experience – caveat emptor Parking is a few blocks from the building, which isn’t a big issue unless you’re not able to unload/load due to street closure for events

Perfect for a quick getaway weekend! Friendly helpful desk clerk Spacious wheelchair accessible room, roll-in shower, comfy bed and short walk/ride to embarcadero Will definitely stay again

PS The bathroom door on our room swings partially closed, impeding our wheelchair Perhaps a magnetic catch would help? Thank-You again for a memorable trip!

This is your basic motel There is nothing special about the rooms, amenities, or service The best thing going for it is the location

Which, to be honest is pretty good Beyond that there is nothing worth paying extra for, and the view is better from standing out on the street than it is from any room We found the beds unusually firm and uncomfortable The motel is a good place as a base of operations for a trip, but not someplace you want to relax and hang out in

We visit Morro Bay once or twice each year, and we’ve stayed at five or six places there Most experiences have been lacking — utilitarian at best However, our stay at the Fireside Inn was head-&-shoulders above the rest

Clean spacious room, plenty of linens, courteous staff, easy check-in/check-out, great location We’ll be staying there again on our next trip to Morro Bay

Excellent location for our needs with local charm, but not without flaws I read reviews and was expecting a very basic inn There are some cute touches, but the creature comforts are lacking for the pickier traveler

The bed really seems smaller than the advertised queenI have a queen and slept on a queen the following city The very firm tiny mattress was fine when I slept on my side – so more an issue of size not comfort I did bring some of my own extra plush blankets to ensure I was warm enough Pillows were subpar The shower had extremely low or close to zero hot water pressure, but the bath tile and sink appeared to be updated in the last decade I washed my hair in the sink with cold water We did visit the restaurant and they seemed to be challenged with not enough qualified staff Pancakes and eggs were good enough, but coffee was not to my liking Lobby coffee and tea were a nice touch, with a slightly better brew in the lobby I did get a text about free wine, but I was not able to enjoy it A pleasant surprise was the two-person hot tub which was awesome after hiking and biking for two dayswe did also get a kick out of the nightly frog serenades Some of the car engines could be heard early but the benefit of a single story was no audible hotel door slamming or heavy-footed neighbors Phoenix in the lobby was very friendly upon check-in

Took a short trip to SLO for a concert Booked a stay at the Apple Farm Inn Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprise how lovely the grounds of the surrounding area were

Upon checking in, we were given fresh cookies and tickets for free wine tasting in the Apple Farm Cellar They also offer coffee, tea and warm apple cider in the lobby after 5pm Although the buildings seem older the interiors of the rooms were upgraded with great thoughtfulness to comfort and convenience The the room was well situated and bed was very comfortable with crisp clean linens Although our room was close to the street, literally right off the highway, relatively little noise could be heard from inside our room In the morning we had breakfast at their restaurant The coffee was great and our breakfast was delicious! We will definitely plan to stay there on our next trip! They offer great rates as well Give Apple Farm Inn a try

We showed up on Thursday night with no reservation The hotel was pretty much sold out We had a very nice, helpful man named Steve trying to find us a room

Not only did he get us in, but our rooms were spectacular We were two couples and we wanted to stay one more night and we were able to keep our same rooms with the great juggling the hotel desk did to get us covered I love this place and will definitely come back again soon
