We missed our flight due to an insane security queue at JFK and luckily Pod 51 had availability When we arrived, even though it was late (12am) and we had a last minute booking, we were checked in and accommodated quickly The rooms were so modern and clean and had everything we needed

They even had a choice of soft or firmer pillows, plenty of towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner It was quiet The room had an amazing view Perfectly comfortable bed It was heaven after such a stressful evening missing the flight So glad I could sleep here instead of an airport floor or somewhere else They also have a great bar next door Everyone was so great and helpful Next time we’re in New York, I want to stay here again

So please this chain, and particularly this hotel, survived Covid Stayed here many times and will continue to do so in the futureBathrooms could do with a little work in places, but are always spotlessly clean

When you consider these places have no or very little income over the last 2 years I can forgive that Roof terrace is amazing in summer and a real great place to end or start a nightFriendly staff, add a real personal touch and nothing is too much effortThanks for having me Pod51 and I’ll be again soon!

Rachelle Mitchell

I was very pleased with the stay at the Pod51 hotel It’s very much a European-style hotel, so if you’ve never been overseas please know that everything is narrow and small They have a very poor energy rating which was my only concern for my technology that was plugged in, I didn’t want anything to overheat

But I did enjoy the Queen pod that we got it had its bathroom inside I wasn’t comfortable with sharing a bathroom however if you are used to college dorm-style it is not a problem I do love the rooftop terrace, it is a great place to get sun, as well as take photos Especially if you want a city view in the background this is one of the better views that I have seen

Jarred Saucier

This hotel was absolutely horrible We had a 5 day reservation and left after the first dayThe hotel has a small courtyard area with benches in the front that you have to walk through to enter the building

There were people homeless druggies/drunks passed out on the benches and laying all over the ground Should have just left at that pointThe lady at the front desk wasn’t friendly and rude the other workersMust plan for the elevators!! There were only 2 elevators at the hotel and always had a line Half the time, one of the elevators was taken by maintenance/cleaning crews Account for 15+ minutes every time you want to use the elevatorThe room was very small, and outdated Furniture was worn and the beds were lumpy The bathroom had no soap, hair in the tub, and little to none water pressureMy 7 year old, who is excited to just stay in any hotel was asking to go somewhere elseWe checked in in the afternoon and went to explore the city When we came back around 10pm the courtyard was even worse There were more people passed out, one with his pants down in the bushes I did not feel it was safe to have my girlfriend and kid anywhere near that We checked out first thing in the morningI am an IHG Diamond Elite (Spire previously since 2015) member and this was probably one of the worst IHG property I have stayed at

Michelle Roberts

Really well placed for a holiday to New York The rooms where clean but basic although there was an iron/ironing board, hairdryer and free safe Toiletries were in very small bottles so i’d take your own or you’d be asking for more every day

We went for a week so storage for clothes was very limited we had to leave some clothes/shoes in our case but i wouldn’t let this put you off There is luggage storage for your last day if needed Reception staff where helpful if needed Just up from the hotel is a bus terminal were you can get a yellow cab to the airport if you haven’t got one booked We didn’t find a problem with people hanging about outside as previously mentioned The pizza shop across road is really nice and you can buy a slice rather than a whole one So I’d recommend this hotel and a big bonus for us was no extra tax’s/fees when we checked out like you get at some hotels

Jacqueline Bodnar

This is the smallest hotel room I’ve ever seen, but it was nice and it was clean It served the purpose! The bathroom was weird There’s no exhaust fan, the door doesn’t lock, and it doesn’t even close right

It’s a slider, it’s weird The elevators are comical Plan 10 minutes extra just to get an elevator, because there are only two and they are slow and busy If you want to stay in the Times Square area the hotel is perfect location-wise It’s nice, clean, the staff was friendly, and it’s a decent price There’s plenty to see and do within walking distance, including restaurants, and a great pastry cart outside each morning There are vagrants that sleep out front on the benches, but they don’t bother anyone It wasn’t a bad stay here at all

Dirty room and we update but still dirty, rude and unprofessional staff, no towels, small, dirty and anti hygienic breakfast area, toilet broken, dark room, sketchy furniture and old We were scared when we got inside the elevator and started to leaking water and wet the panel Front desk knew it and permitted to used for 4 hours

The other two elevators are hazardous The place smelled so bad that couldn’t stand in the hallway and in the room The sofa and floor was very dirtyThe hotel doesn’t have there own parking We would never even think to stay here again

Starleana Holmes

Have gone a few times Nice service and there’s breakfast Cozy rooms even though sometimes they smell of cigarette

Cute decor Free coffee They do overnight and hourly I gave 3 stars because it’s kind of hard to sleep when u hear neighbors “enjoying” themselves in the next room I’ve machines are not on every floor But over all decent Price isn’t bad $80 for 3 hours $245 kinda steep, for over night They only take cash unless your staying over night Which kinda sucks Nicely clean though 35 stars lol

I loved the character of this hotel Every corner was interesting to look at and it felt very cozy I had the pleasure of meeting one of the artists who was painting a room, which added to the charm

I was also warmly greeted by a very sweet cat who made it hard to leave If you are looking to complain about stuff, sure you’ll find imperfections But I think if you are choosing this hotel you have to expect some character And if you are looking for character, then this place is perfect!

Ayla Anes

Such an amazing art hotel Lots of murals covering every surface The staff and even the other guests really made my stay memorable

I especially enjoyed the cat (pictured), whose name I never got 😅Great location for my purposes I could not believe I was able to get such a fantastic room for so cheap Some rooms do not have bathrooms so they share a communal restroom and shower Not a big deal for me, I was just there for the night As a single women, traveling alone I felt very safe both in the neighborhood and in the hotelOne thing, my room was on the corner of the building along 3rd Ave I’m not used to big city noise so the street traffic was a little much for me It might be a problem of you’re a light sleeper but once I fell asleep I didn’t have any issues I will definitely stay here again!

Hannah Brown

Charming little hotel in New York City! I like to experience the unique and eclectic side of travel and this colorful art hotel was just that! We were on Floor D so a few flights of stairs, but nothing too bad The shared bathroom and shower spaces were clean and perfectly adequate for our needs This was exactly what I was looking for – a clean place to sleep after a long day exploring the city! The bed was surprisingly comfortable too

Our room had an in-window air con unit We walked everywhere and it was only 20 minutes from Monyihan Train Hall and about the same from Times Square Read the other reviews and you’ll get a pretty accurate idea of this hotel Friendly host, cute cat, and an experience worth having! I’ll be back!

Hotel was very clean Staff was incredibly helpful and responsive This is not a fancy hotel, but it felt very welcoming, safe, and as though everything was well thought out and taken care of

The morning breakfasts are great…cereals, eggs, toast, bagels, breakfast bars, bacon and sausage, juice, milk, yogurt, coffee…I know I didn’t capture everything I had one small maintenance issue, and the staff was incredibly responsive and caring I can’t say enough about how professional everyone was, and they made me, as a guest, feel like I was important to them Great visit at a great hotel Wonderful location, close to subway, and within walking distance of many sites

Matthew Groh

Good location with easy access to subway Great breakfast, loved the cinnamon rolls and having some options Friendly staff in every area

Appreciated the cold water waiting in the lobby with the candies every day we got back fro a hot walk Room was mostly clean and well appointed Liked the normal soap bottle for washing hands Few small spots of mold in shower I wiped away and stuffy mustiness to room when A/C wasn’t running – this needs to be improved Rest of bathroom was otherwise clean Bed was comfortable and clean with good pillow options

Kira Collins

We had a great stay here for our first time in NYC It was walking distance to many great attractions and restaurants The hands down best part was our front desk employee Jonathon

Beyond his wonderful personality and character he was very helpful and gave us great suggestions for the city His professionalism and friendliness made us feel welcome and we felt like we left with a new friend Thank you to the whole staff for being helpful and accommodating Big thank you to Jon we will hopefully see you next time we’re in the city!- Kira and David

Awesome location, reasonable price, great rooftop deck and courteous staff Simple breakfast daily and rooms cleaned upon request Considering it is right beside the Manhattan Bridge, it was very quiet

I saw a lot of bad reviews about the small rooms, but if you look through the photos they provide, then you know what you’re in for Personally, we weren’t staying there to hang out in the room all day, so the ‘cozy’ room was not a problem

Riley Pham

I had a flight cancellation so my trip to New York was shortened I talked to the hotel and they said they were willing to give me a gift card equivalent to 1 night stay in the hotel because I did not stay with them that night It was amazing

The staff were great and friendly The location is excellent! The room was very good, clean and neat! Breakfast was boring but never mind Overall, it’s a good experience in NYC

Ava Lehean

Our stay at this hotel was great! The location was perfect in terms of traveling to places around the Chinatown / Soho area The train station was also nearby for further locations Their checkout time was at 11 am but we requested a late checkout and were given a grace time of an extra hour without charge

The hotel provided us with free luggage storage which made it extremely convenient after check out

This is a 3-star hotel My bed, room, bathroom, tables, ac, and fridge were all clean and this is what I find most important I found no evidence of pests

Overall great experienceOne thing I would recommend to the management is to install blackout curtains on the room (king-size bed) window, as my window did not have those It will help in giving the customer a good night sleep since the sun rises at 5am this time of year

Samantha B

I booked my reservation 2 months in advance but when I showed up to the hotel to check in, the hotel had cancelled my reservation without ever notifying me I was informed that it is not hotel policy to inform people if there are issues with a reservation or a cancellation when you book online Since I was under a time crunch, I couldn’t go somewhere else and had to take a room at double the process I originally booked

I supposedly had a premium room, the air conditioning didn’t work (constantly shut off and would not stay on), we could hear everything happening in the rooms around us, and there were bugs The hotel staff was not helpful in solving any of our issues While I have stayed here before, I definitely will never stay here again

Jacquelynn Guerrette

First off, there is no free breakfast or breakfast of any kind, even though it is advertised DONT STAY IN TOOM 202Going in, I felt it was a little dinghy, like a high end motel

We get our room (room 202) and it came with a balcony to the view of scaffolding The balcony was filled with dead bugs and cigarettes Mold in the bathroom ceiling The room was so small, they had left used conditioner in the bathroom, instead of giving us a new one The best part was the AC wasn’t working We had to call someone to fix it Which was him taking the thermostat off the wall and bringing it closer to the AC After a couple of hours, the AC is off again and we couldn’t fix it They ended up moving us at 12am to a new room with a working AC This hotel was definitely not with $198……I also have yet to get my $100 deposit back, so I will have to be calling my bank this evening But out if the bad experience, the worker that was there for the night was very nice Honestly won’t ever stay there again

I stayed here for 2 nights and it was a good experience The room including the bathroom was clean upon my arrival The room was small (but I expected that since the website lists the exact size of the room)

Shower was also small as expected and I was worried about the hotel staff not changing the shower curtains between guests because of the other reviews However, it seemed clean to me, no visible stains or anything The bunk beds was kind of fun and my friend and I got individual TVs within our bunk and wall plugs which was convenient and unique (kind of like a sleeper train set up) I also like the location It was central to the things I had planned The staff was pretty friendlyThe negatives was that checking in took a very long time and there is a daily resort fee (Not even sure what the resort fee goes to because this is definitely not a resort) I would be back if there was a good deal However, there are plenty of other hotels within the same price range (without after booking resort fee) in the same or closer by neighborhoods

I booked a last minute stay at Pod 39 While check-in was stated as 3pm, the staff was accommodating to check if they had any rooms available for me to do an early check-in Information on complimentary coffee/tea/water in the mornings as well as roof-top bar access were shared with much detail

I asked the staff lady who served me on transportation to JFK and options were given and proposed Much appreciated! For the single bed room that I booked, the room was small and had no view The window looks out to some roof-top and stairways of the next building, I decided to keep the shades closed all the time For all its compactness, I had everything I need for a stay; toiletries, towels, wifi and a work deskThe air-conditioning can get rather noisy when it generates up to keep the room cool every now and then though Otherwise, rooms are pretty much sound proof and bed is comfortable!Location wise, Pod 39 sits at a convenient location Easy access to major train lines and attractions No shortage of food options as wellNo doubt, unless I find another location with a cheaper price, I will be back at Pod 39 in my next visit to NYC !

ashley pupo

The Hotel lobby and lounge area were very spacious, the staff was nice and the check in/ check out process was very quick The room itself was great, I stayed in a single pod and the view was nice and there was barely any noise on my floor House keeping comes in everyday and they have water available in the lounge to refill your water bottle

I appreciated the key tap system in the elevator, I felt safer Overall my stay was great and I would definitely recommend/come again!

Unbelievably HORRIBLE service! I booked the stay on HURBcom (don’t make this mistake) a few days ago and called this morning to confirm if I could send myself a package and they asked when I made the reservation, when I said a few days ago they said “no you don’t have a reservation with us, we aren’t taking new reservations due to remodeling call the hotel next door and they will get you room” What?? no Im sorry no nothing

I told them how much of an inconvenience this was, imagine arriving to NY with luggage and finding this out there she just replied “yea yea yea just call them next door and they will honor the same price and they are a sister company” again no apologyThe hotel next door had no idea what this was about nor were they a sister property or even offer the same price they just said I needed to call “Choice” but not giving me a contact number or knowing who this is is uselessI have been calling the Sleep Inn 10 times now, letting the phone ring till the phone disconnects and zero answerTHIS PLACE IS SCAMMING PEOPLEI legit hotel would have apologized, asked what website I booked the room on so they could contact them and have them not offer new stays till they are available They would also, offer my money back immediately, not lie about a “sister property” and say they would honor the same priceI hope many will see this and not take the risk here at the Sleep Inn

So here’s the deal…is it old, yes Is it clean, yes but again old and not updated Did my family and I feel safe, yes

Are the elevators fast, no Is it luxurious, no Is there AC in the hot summer months, yes Are the beds/pillows comfortable, enough Is the staff helpful and kind, yes Is the location excellent, YES We’re there bugs or varmints, not that we saw Was it roomy, no way Would I stay here again, yes There are no bells or whistles at Hotel St James, but it is worth the dollar you’ll pay if your expectations aren’t crazy high and you like a good deal Also, there is a Whole Foods right around the corner to buy food/snacks, water/beer, etc at a decent (not jacked up) price

Location is a plus, no style or substanceWe stayed here over Presidents Day WeekendPros: One minute from time square, relatively affordable ($180 a night for us) Rooms were clean

Location is great Were able to check-in two hours early Staff when we checked in was very helpful and accommodating Woman at the desk very kindly moved us to a different room away from streetCons: Rooms are completely minimalist and bathrooms are small Towels are tiny and bathroom has no vent If someone has to go #2 wait until you’re about to leave or you’ll regret it Drain kept clogging while thereNo outlet next to one side of the bed, and those outlets we did have the plugs kept falling out of Pillows had zero fluff to them Two stacked on top of each other felt like you had nothing Neither me or my girlfriend got more than 2-3 hours of sleep a night in a king sized bedRooms were incredibly stuffy at night and had to open window in 30 degree weather to make it bearableElevators are very old and tight Renovations were going on so there was wet paint signs down the hall and hallway smelt like paintWhen we checked out, us and another separate couple were looking to store bags while we explored before leaving in the afternoon They put ours bags in an unlocked rooms off the lobby and the other couples in a room behind the counter When we came back to get bags the receptionist told us to help ourselves and let me grab bags completely unattended You could easily walk up and have taken any number of bagsWould not recommend to families But if you’re looking for a cost effective place with no frills in a great location it’ll do

Christy Selder

This is an old building but quaint The bed was comfy in my opinion It was clean from the moment you walked in

The best part is the front desk agent Joey He’s amazing! The nicest person I’ve ever met! Always asked if we were enjoying ourselves or if we needed something He was very helpful and funny too! He made the stay such a delight

Make sure to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking your room This site will compare countless booking web sites and usually will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This resort is the best rated in the area

I’ve been staying here for years If you stay for a few days you definitely won’t be disappointedThe staff were great and the room was good I know during covid times they are lacking a bit such limited services with rooms and no food or drink unless you order room service (which I did not) The location was good to all the theatersThe only down fall, I did not see any handicap accessibility I am sure there was but I did not see it so if it is a concern, I would contact the hotelFYI, the garage parking was very close and you do get a discount from the hotel for parking fees You will need to connect with the front desk before collecting your vehicle

Hannah

Amazing location!! We were so close to a ton of things we wanted to see and eat and there were a lot of quick bites, coffee shops and drugstores really close byThe room was comfortable, small but we didn’t mind as we were out most of the day I loved the waterfall shower and the plush bed

We had trouble with the thermostat, it was very hard to keep the room at a comfortable temp, and it fluctuated between too warm and too cold If you’re staying longer than a week I would not recommend, the room is too small to keep everything organized if you bring more than one suitcase

Marcel Fromhage

Great location close to time square, Columbus circle, central park and several subway stations to get you where you need to goMany bars and restaurants close by as wellOur King-size Deluxe room was spacious while reasonably priced considering the area The room was clean and nicely designed

Room service and breakfast is handled though and external butler service which you can order and have food or convenience items delivered to your door Prices for that are on the higher endConsidering the many food options with a couple of yards, I had no need to try that serviceCheck-in and Check-out was ok but oddly uncoordinated Checkout times were only available on demand and not included in any of the email notifications to confirm booking or check-in

The entrance and lobby is cute and quaint Although the staff seemed kind, hotel protocols/policies are too rigid and almost illogical in bookingsThis hotel was one of the cheaper options on the Hopper app at $220/night

The rooms themselves definitely look worn and the metal rail for the bathroom door plus the metal inside the actual bathroom, showed signs of rustThe air was also not great and the tissue box provided to me in the room had some toilet paper stuffed inside at the top The other tissues were damp and had liquid drops on it, which was concerningIn addition, the air was heavy in the room I was given when using the heater at nightDisappointing stay although it was in a convenient location

My niece and I stayed here this past week for her 21st birthday The night before our arrival I received an email asking what time to expect us so they could do their best to have our room ready I responded we were boarding our redeye and would be arriving at 9am

I had very little hope of checking in so early but when we arrived the front desk got us right into our room on the 23rd floorThe room was very spacious, had a view and had a refrigerator (which is beyond rare in nyc) We were able to get unpacked and take a nap before we began our trip The location is close to multiple subway lines and to a lot of activities So even though it was snowing it was very easy to get to and from our hotelWe requested extra pillows that were brought to us with minutes and even when my niece asked for dressing for her pizza she got from Joe’s, the front desk went to the back and got her some even though we didn’t once order food from the hotel They were so sweet and kind anytime we saw them or had a questionWe enjoyed very strong drinks at the bar as well and the bartender was very friendly And when we brought our luggage down to be picked up from Tote Taxi, the front desk made us feel much better about our pieces going to the right pick up personOverall this was a 5 star stay and I was not expecting that I was on a budget on this trip so I had assumed the hotel would be a rough stay but honestly it was nicer than some other hotels I have paid more for I will absolutely be back and I’m so happy with how special the staff made my niece and I feel It really was a nice little home for the 4 nights we were there

Great location and friendly staff The room was clean and I didn’t notice the worn appearance that other reviews mentioned The room was very small but that’s typical of a NYC hotel

The bed was comfortable and even though at checkin they told me housekeeping was every other day, I came back every evening to a made bed and fresh towels in the bathroomThe bathroom had a shower with a glass door but it didn’t have a good seal and the bathroom floor was always wet after a shower I just laid an extra towel on the floor and it wasn’t a big dealI know NYC is noisy in itself so I didn’t expect a silent room but there was an odd sound that was concerning me As I was heading out I recognized the sound as the elevator’s notification but my room was what I thought was the farthest from the elevator Turns out due to design, my wall was against the back of the elevator Not sure about other rooms but once I figured out what it was, it wasn’t that annoyingThe breakfast was not worth $21 so if you are not a platinum Marriott member (they get free breakfast) I’d recommend skipping itIf I have another overnight in the city, I would stay here again

We had a great stay here and would definitely return! It’s extremely affordable for midtown NYC and close to great spots and to multiple subway stations, so getting pretty much anywhere is easy I don’t visit the city to hang in my hotel room, so it doesn’t have to be the fanciest place The vintage vibe is cute and the people working there are really nice

We had a room with 2 beds and our own private bath which was really nice, and it all felt quite clean They also have no problem at all storing your bags both before your check in and after check out We arrived extremely early in the morning and left late at night, and we were able to store our bags for quite awhile both times with no issue

The folks running the Belnord Hotel were friendly and accommodating The rooms are small, just large enough for the bed, two small night stands and one person to walk around it at a time The bathroom also small

But, your in NYC so it’s not a big deal Also, it was very clean The amenities included a rooftop outdoor area that was really nice Next to the outdoor rooftop area was a kitchen that included free coffee and tea and a snack machine Again not the Plaza but it was the least expensive hotel I could find in the area I wanted to be in, the Upper West Side near the park I would highly recommend this hotel so long as you understand what you get for your $$$

This is my first time in New York and this hotel was closest to the things we wanted to do The hotel is a fair price and the staff is very nice, especially the cleaning ladies When we got there, they gave us a key to a room that was already occupied

After that they gave us a key to room that had no ac They ended up putting us in another room with great ac, close to the little cafe they have and their patio It was the best I would definitely stay there again

Great hotel, clean and comfy Great location, walking distance to many attractions The staff was friendly

The room was a bit small but still had room for the baby pack and play (provided by the hotel) and for luggage They offer a personalized housekeeping schedule that you can define per your preference We stayed in higher floors and the elevator worked great, very fast, never had to wait long

Molly Hurst

– check in is at 3 pm No flexibility They said they had no clean rooms

But if I paid $50 extra, magically there would be a room- requested room to be cleaned daily immediately upon check in Room was not cleaned for two days despite 3 phone calls and 2 chats with the front desk No clean towels No refill shampoo etc- front desk was rude, slow, and unwelcoming- views from the lower level rooms are Into a clothing factory with workers all days of the week so you cannot keep your windows open at all Leads to a very dark experience at all hours of the day

Briana Smalls

Nice and clean hotel centralized in the heart of Midtown within walking distances of many shopping places, attractions, and most of all transportation

Very accessible to the 42nd/Penn Street subway station Security at night and the ability to use your card to access the building after dark made me feel secure Highly recommend and would stay again
