Below Standard! I have stayed here several times over the last 10 years I haven’t for a few years The new management have seemed to have neglected the property

There was garbage all over the patio I had to wait for towels, and I had to pull hair out of the bathtub Felt really horrible and not comfortable at all I left after a few hours the fireplace also did not work I felt so disappointed as I had driven all the up from the Bay for some R&R I called and asked for a Refund as I didn’t even stay the night They still haven’t refunded my stay I will not return there

This review is for the Rosedale Inn Thought this place was nice enough until late at night I started to itch Pulled out the phone light and found a flea on me that promptly jumped off

It’s been a week and I still feel itchy from it We won’t go back This could have been the only flea there but I doubt it In the morning I found another flea and it was full of blood Who’s? Idk I killed the flea for you You’re welcome

Rebecca Gulley

We have here a few times over the years and have been extremely happy Unfortunately this stay was quite differentOur room was dark and dingy

Wallpaper was peeling off in multiple locations throughout the room A light was out in the bathroom, there was mildew around the outside of the shower, the tub had chips in it, the bathroom door handle was loose, there was a stain on the white comforter and there was a used cleaning sponge left on the bar/sink counter A car was parked outside of our room that had cobwebs all over it Obviously it hadn’t moved in monthspossibly one of the workers or owners?? It’s sad because this property used to be one of our favorite

This place is absolutely amazing! After spending several days here, I don’t think I would stay anywhere else The rooms are quaint and extremely clean, the light breakfast is perfect to start your day, and the sitting area outside is beautifully done The area is so safe, and we were able to leave the windows open all day and night with the perfect temperatures the area brings

Everything is a perfect walking distance – we never used our car unless traveling out of the town Owners and workers as well as other guests were extremely nice and fun to visit with No need to look any further!

Will definitely return! The lady at the front desk was very welcoming, the whole hotel is small but very comfortable We stayed in the tree top room, loved it! Could see the ocean and hear the waves Some of the windows actually open like blinds which was awesome but it does get pretty noisy in the morning due to being right above the breakfast area and where the common area is

The patio faces the opposite direction of the ocean, still a nice view Very animal friendly which we appreciate!

Amanda Blaisdell

We really enjoyed our stay at Lamp Lighter Inn (we stayed in the Tree Top House room) The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we loved our little deck The outdoors common area was lovely, and we had a good time sitting next to the fire tables

The staff was friendly and accommodating (they lent us a HDMI cable so we could watch videos from our computer on the TV) However, the rooms did not keep noise out well at all, and since we were right above the breakfast room, we were woken as soon as they started working on breakfast The breakfast definitely could have been better – it was continental-style, but even so, a few more options would have been nice Our shower, though nice, was quite small But overall, we had a lovely stay and would stay here again

We were in the older building 222 so not as plush as we were led to believe However we had requested a kitchenette unit – the main building has none It was set for two people

A hot plate with two burners, two plates, cups, bowls, knives, forks spoons, steak knives, a pot and fry pan, spatula, big spoon, can opener, bottle opener and a small fridge Basic, but all there clean and functional Only one chair at the counter, plus office chair at the desk and a comfy chair for relaxation and TV watching A queen bed and 50’s solid wood furniture and two unremarkable pictures finish the decor 14 feet high ceilings creat huge empty wall spaces that makes it feel rather utilitarian The staff are pleasant and helpful The on site pub seems lively and cheerfully relaxed It’s a place to meet and get something to eat as well, although we didn’t have the opportunity to eat on site The restaurant is closed on Sundays We were on vacation so sleeping in and missing the cooked breakfasts was the norm for us There is only one gate functioning It’s open 24 hours Turn in is opposite 900 Sloat

Katrina Peterson

We were very impressed by the Navy Gateway Inn The hotel has been nicely renovated but still has lots of interesting history and it’s a beautiful building The staff was very friendly and welcoming

The rooms are very nice, clean, and comfortable While there is no AC, we were able to cool the rooms with the outside breeze and the ceiling fan We would definitely recommend and come back again

Molly Lolly

The historic Hotel Del Monte is a gem on the Naval Postgraduate School campus Close to all parts of NPS The suite rooms are spacious for a family of 3

The included kitchenette is nice when you’re tired of paying tourist prices at restaurants The lack of AC is frustrating considering there are other hotels in the area with it The hotel has obviously been modernized and updated at some point so the money and effort should be put in to add AC since it’s needed more days than not despite the cooler temperatures outside The included breakfast is good most days Some days it’s a bit disappointing when they’ve run out of things or the eggs are way too watery Though the fact there’s always a hot option is appreciated

I stayed here for 2 nights (Sat & Sun) Nice room with modern interior, comfortable bed, and all the basic amenities It’s in a really convenient location off Del Monte yet very quiet at night

I had to get up very early for the Big Sur International Marathon, so I was thankful to have a good sleep beforehand Check-in and check-out was easy Staff are not on-site during the morning hours, so you just leave your key cards in the drop-box at checkout Good experience overall, and happy with my stay

Jason Sattler

I really enjoyed my stay here The rooms were clean; what more can you ask for My major issue is I was told there would be no cleaning service yet they did

In the process they threw out the lid to my tervis tumbler It’s less than $10 but it’s just the hassle and the fact that they came in and did that when they said they weren’t going to As much as that irritated me, the folks that run this seem to be good people just trying to do the best they can so I would stay there again

Kristen Kirksey

Fine for one night if you’re on a budget, but next time, I’ll probably spend $50 more for a better hotel Location is good Felt like a safe part of town

Nearby several big box stores and chain restaurants (Target, Lucky grocery store, McDonalds, Wing Stop, etc) About 10 minutes away from Cannery Row and Downtown Monterey Check in was quick, but I had to check in at a window because the lobby was locked I arrived midday Don’t know if this is a covid precaution, but it made me feel unwelcome The room was clean and updated I still think it could have used a deep clean, like shampooing the carpets and wiping down walls, headboards, etc All of the metalware in the bathroom (toilet paper holder, soap dispensers) was completely rusted, which made me uncomfortable touching it The room was spacious Had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker which I appreciated It had a little balcony which was cute, though the view was the highway and Costco Comfy bed Other guests were respectful, not loud at all Overall, it was fine, but I probably won’t be back

I got a two bedroom + non-smoke + breakfast included room The mattresses were nice, but everything else was subpar The front desk was supposed to be open at 7 am, but no one was there until 7:15 ish, which was unprofessional

The wifi did not work for a bit, so I called the front desk, who fixed it after an hour Still, the internet was slow The most disappointing part was the breakfast The breakfast was just a brown bag filled with 2 regular granola bars, an apple, and something like a Fig Newtons, with blueberry jam instead Save yourself from paying for the breakfast — instead with that money, go to a nearby McDonald’s for better quality and portions

This is an iconic and nostalgic hotel in the heart of Carmel By the Sea Now part of the Doris Day estate, the walls are adorned by movie posters and photos of Doris There is a continuous loop of her movies running in the bar/breakfast area

The rooms here are relatively small due to the age of the building, but they are nonetheless comfortable and nicely decorated Heat is provided by a radiator and there is no air conditioning Temperatures are typically chilly to mild so air conditioning is rarely needed Breakfast in the morning is hot with some nice options although the menu never changed while we were there for 4 nights Parking is a challenge There is a very small hotel lot that is always full You can get on a waiting list for a spot which costs $20 per day In the meantime your street parking is best 2-3 blocks away in the residential area where there is no 2 hour limit Rates are $300+ and the taxes are very high (common for California) The restaurant in the hotel serves delicious food and the bar makes nice drinks and has a good wine selection I would stay there again because the hotel is charming and the location is excellent

Kristin Wardlow

Such a charming hotel in a lovely location The customer service was excellent! We loved being able to sit out on the patio of our room watching people pass by Very enjoyable experience

We’d love to come back again! Also, Mary (at the bar) was so sweet and hospitable!

We stayed at the El Castell for three nights while visiting Monterey The motel’s exterior appearance was good All the common areas, paint and landscaping were neat

The parking is a little tight, but adequate Check-in was easy and quick, as we had used a third party booking agent for the reservation and there were no issues Our room was fairly clean, though the floor could have been better swept Other than that, towels and bedding were clean an nice enough We found it to be quiet and we slept well on the comfortable beds There is a pool on the property, which is mostly indoors Just one wall is open to a patio The pool was heated to 82 degrees We spent some time in the pool and we’re often the only ones in the pool The pool is showing it age, but other than that, was fine This is a motel we would stay at again They did refresh our room on the second day of our stay Which was nice A good place for a good price

Bigg Hurt (Shogun)

5 star service, 5 star heated pool for kids and adults to enjoy and 5 star notability for an honest business As I was leaving from a very pleasant stay, my wife left her shampoo (not that she needed it because they have a quite exquisite and fruity line of bathing products) and one of the managers / owners ran out to let us know Thank you sir! The only downside is the area however they have to be the best Hotel on the block! Will come again!

I cannot say enough good about this place! For years I have wasted time staying elsewhere and called Borg’s The Bates Motel It always seemed empty (Sorry owners and management!) Boy was I wrong! We stayed on the 2nd floor facing the ocean and talk about a beautiful view! They have chairs for you to sit and relax in outside your room and we did this meeting the neighbors on both sides

I have no complaints and will be back and hope that visit will go just as well!!

Initially saved the stresses of finding a room last minute The receptionist I had talked to that evening was so friendly and helpful I believe booking

com had this labeled as a 2 star, but honestly, I’d bump it into a 3 star The room was spotless My partner had left her iPod case & someone from the inn had called & informed us that they would be shipping it back to us THANK YOU SO MUCH We were in the area looking at apartments for our future move & this stay was so pleasant, helped ease the stressThe location was very close to downtown and the mall Charging docks for EV Quiet even though it was near a street Also, across the street from one of the places to eat late at night (Jack n the box)Unfortunately, I will probably not stay here because more than likely we are moving, but I will highly suggest this to everyone that I know that is looking for a place to stay

Nika

I gave it 3 stars because it was a quaint little place It advertised that it had a fireplace in the room which I thought would be a nice romantic touch of ambience, but it did not work There was a standing fan but no a/c so if you’re looking for a cool place in a heatwave this wouldn’t be it

We were just there for the night The bed was comfortable The room was very clean No elevator 16 rooms And the ice machine is next to the office where you check in There is fast food across the street and a small park with a few large trees That was the most scenic of views this place had It is only about 2 miles from Monterey’s version of the pike in long beach There you will find an aquarium, bars, restaurants and even a grocery store

Nicholas Ahumada

Recently stayed here with my family, having just come from another motel This one had great service from the manager, who put up with and assisted my mom’s many questions and asks, and the rooms were very clean and nicer than expected for any motel My little brother and I loved our room, which seemed updated pretty recently

They were also updating the paint when we got in, so it looked pretty nice

The Mission Ranch is hang out spot for elitist wealthy Carmel geriatrics The food is over priced and subpar but it resides in a beautiful location The owners and staff could careless about unhappy patrons because they know the public will come for the views and the dusty old rich peoples opinion is the only one that counts anyway

Look at the poor reviews, do you see anyone from management or owners responding to these complaints Nono you don’t Go for drinks at sunset but go elsewhere for good food and service This place is basically the equivalent of the recreation room at an expensive retirement community

This hotel is what it says it is – small, unassuming, basic Fine for a 1-2 night stay if you aren’t planning on spending much time in the room! They have a nice little water feature in the front where you can sit and read The owners are available at all times and are very friendly

Room is pretty basic but as other reviewers notate: Extremely clean Small table with 2 chairs, bed, a rack for clothes and a good sized bathroom Bed is comfortable, sheets are a bit thin so I would ask for some extra blankets before you head to bed The AC unit has a running fan option which is great for light sleepers for white noise :)At the time of writing, no breakfast was offered

We have been staying here at this motel now for over 40 years It has always remained clean, comfortable, quiet and well maintained Just less than 15 minutes drive and you are in down town Carmel by the sea! No traffic and noise which comes with your stay in Carmel, this is peaceful, private, quiet and accommodating

I’m now friends with the manager and his family! Great place to stay – and I am picky about what I like! There simply is no other choice as far as we are concerned!

Can’t say enough nice things about the property It is family owned and operated Each cabin or room is different

We stayed in the king studio roomHaving a refrigerator and kitchen was helpful to limit eating out with a restricted diet There were patios for most of the cabins and ours had a balcony with outdoor eating area Each cabin also had a grill and there was a large centrally located gas grill for larger parties Coffee maker with coffee and microwave popcorn were includedThey also had free movies and lending library in the lobby, as well as coffee and tea, plus grab and go snacks (free) The property is dog friendly and had a large yard for families and pets to playIt is located across from Asilomar and close to the Pacific Grove golf course We will definitely be back It is a great place for larger groups or multiple family groups to gather

The staff seem very on top of things including the cleaning staff and front desk The grounds are beautiful including the spa and lawn area It’s a bit out dated but still in good shape

Stayed here for 2 nights Giving it a five star review as we got what we were looking for Rooms are sparkling clean and at a reasonable price

No carpet on the floor The room was not dark / dingy / damp smelling Simple rooms with basic amenities (microwave and fridge), easy parking Window blinds do let some light in at night so recommend carrying an eye mask if you are sensitive to light Would definitely stay here again

This is a five-star rating for a two-star motel It is great value and has everything that you could possibly want Coffee maker with Starbucks coffee, television, our accessible room had a gas fireplace, the heating and air conditioning worked well, the bathroom was expansive

And they provided toiletries Monty at check-in could not have been more personable and welcoming The Lone Oak Lodge totally suited our needs for an overnight and would have been a fine base had we been staying a few days It is not luxury, it’s basic, but with all the amenities you could possibly need The location is easy to get to and we felt safe

Pros:Newly renovated floors, paint and crown molding, very comfortable beds, bathroom including walk in shower, wall mounted TV with great cable selection, refrigerator and microwave all at a GREAT rate! They also have a spa and sauna roomCons:The furniture is worn and there is nowhere to hang clothesMy wife and I very much appreciated all the updates and our 3 night stay

We will definitely use them again on next visit to the area!Excellent budget friendly accommodations!Ask for an updated room
