The lobby is nice, everything is clean Bed was comfy Maintenance was good

Hot breakfast and pool good I gave it three stars because the bathroom was so small you can’t even close the door while you’re sitting on the toilet The depth of the bathroom is the width of the tub Should be just a shower if that’s all the space they had Also explains why their website shows no bathroom pics None If you don’t mind that, you will like the room

Noah Lemke

Hotel is nice and pool is nice and breakfast is awesome here, This hotel only got 2 stars because of the pool and breakfast! But stayed here back in Jan for the ice castles and the front desk group are unbearable and rude, simply asking about a room rate that was promised to my girlfriend was too much Than her family stays here because they had a fire at there house and just because they asked for towels and the room to be cleaned they get kicked out! I understand the whole Covid thing but seriously that has been over for a while now and it doesn’t give you the right to be rude and threaten to call the cops! I won’t stay here again nor will anyone I know plus my girlfriends family will probably tell everyone not to stay here til a change is made at the desk When will hotels go back to being corporate ran? Cause that’s the only way it needs to be this independent owners don’t care about the people staying at there hotels nor do they care about the service there team is providing!

We happily got married and when we got to the hotel it wasn’t until 10ish pm at night on our Wedding day When we walked in there were pop can stains on the counters, sticky stains, trash from other people before us underthe couch, and worse of all there was a nasty stain on the top blanket Other than the lack of cleanliness the friendliness of country inn is wonderful and warming

We were so tired and kept going in and out of the room between our house, celebrating, and then back to the hotel so we weren’t in the room all too long I would’ve said something the first night or the next morning when we first came but I was just so worn out from the wedding I didn’t wish to complain Otherwise it was a decent room I just wish it wasn’t so dirty because out of all moments I wish it didn’t happen to us on our special night

I cannot say enough good things about this place I have no complaints The staff does an AMAZING job! The housekeeping staff takes the cake here

Soooo kind, professional, and thorough Breakfast options were plenty! Beds were comfy, pool area was clean and very well maintained I would recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for 5 star treatment with a balling on a budget lifestyle

Friedericke Wowerat (FredW414)

My room was clean and we had a decent night’s sleep I walked into the Hotel and the desk person was sitting in a chair I didn’t know that he was the desk person

While I checked in a woman asked for towels for the pool area and since the person was checking me in, he didn’t tend to her needs immediately She actually waited for awhile When I checked in he proceeded to put a $150 hold on my card for incidentals, because I prepaid through a third party I personally didn’t care for this because I checked in at approximately 5:15pm and checked out at 6am the next morning Still waiting for the charge to go back on my card SmhI never experienced this at other Country Inn and Suite locations even when I purchase through a third partyAs I was checking out at 6am there were family members in the lobby? It actually made me feel somewhat uncomfortable I probably won’t stay at this location again because I didn’t feel fully comfortable

I am so happy I booked the carriage house instead of a hotel It afforded me a lot more privacy than your standard room, and was just so cute The meals were amazing

I think Kevin’s pancakes are the best I have ever had in my life, even better than my own! If you come to stay here, definitely don’t skip the breakfast Kevin was a great host and made the whole experience amazing Beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood Parking was great as well and he even let us plug in a block heater for our diesel truck (good thing too because it was so cold that I don’t think we’d be able to get it started otherwise) 10/10 would visit again

Shirlee Smith

Excellent beyond expectations! We don’t expect to return to St Paul, but if we do, this is where we want to stay The Carriage House is a delightful private apartment

Kevin’s breakfasts were fantastic! And the neighborhood is absolutely charming We enjoyed trying a different restaurant each night, and on the last night went bar hopping to be sure we hadn’t messed anything — all within easy walking distance of the B&B

Theresa Watson

I wish we could rate the Historic District bed and breakfast with higher than 5 stars! It was an absolutely lovely stay in every way! The home is gorgeous and the rooms are spotless and extremely comfortable Kevin was such a helpful and kind host—not to mention an amazing chef! One of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had! We will definitely be coming back Thank you, Kevin!

What a wonderful place Everything from the whirlpool tubs to the sheets to the breakfast (the breakfast!!) screams luxury We stayed in the Master Suite on our wedding night and came back for our 10 year anniversary

It was just as amazing as we remembered In addition to the above, our room had a fireplace and a private screened in balcony facing the river Breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had at any b&b Reasonably priced, great service, and easy walking distance to historic downtown Hudson and the St Croix River We will be back, and this time won’t let it be 10 years before returning Thank you for everything!

Andy Schmidt

If you are looking for a getaway and want to try something different I would recommend this bed and breakfast The owners are really nice they make you feel like you are visiting relatives They have everything you would get at a hotel, they also home cook the breakfast which was the best part

You’re also walking distance from downtown Hudson I would do again in a heartbeat

Theo Nicole Lorenz

The rooms and the home itself are gorgeous, the mattress was way comfier than most hotel mattresses I’ve slept on, and the owner was an excellent host! She let our group take over the dining room for the night to celebrate a birthday with takeout and a tabletop game, and in the morning she made us french toast, even accommodating my partner’s cinnamon allergy A fantastic experience all around! We’ll definitely be back 🙂

Andrew

My wife and I stayed here for a birthday getaway and had a fantastic experience The lovely property and rich history of the neighborhood was worth it alone, but access to restaurants only a couple blocks away and a wonderful breakfast cooked by Whitney, the owner, along with an engaging conversation with her and the other guests during that delicious meal made this a truly remarkable experience

Jeff Gammon

My wife and I recently stayed a night for an early Valentine’s Day celebration The building is beautiful and cozy- as are much of the surrounding neighborhoods Parking was super easy

The owner was such a sweet and friendly person- she made a truly amazing breakfast for everyone! If a had to split hairs on potential improvements: the fireplace in our room wasn’t a working fireplace- that would have added to the ambiance on a cold winter night Also, the water has a slight sulfur smell to it Other than those minor things- would highly recommend staying here!

Everything was satisfactory about my stay The accommodations were excellent, the food was delicious The only complaint I have is that I never actually saw my hosts

My room key was left in an envelope near the door, and my debit card was charged automatically the morning I left I get that people have things to do and places to be, especially small business owners, but it would have been nice to meet the people in whose home I am staying

Kendra Charles

Such a delightful stay in the Molly Jean room Meat, cheese, fruit, and veggie tray along with sparkling cider (could be wine, but we don’t drink) awaited us at check-in Room had hot tub, fireplace and private balcony where we ate breakfast, which was delicious

Park right behind has several great walking paths Far more affordable than other options in the area We will be back!!

Emily Longsdorf

I surprised my fiance with a stay here over New Years weekend It was wonderful! It’s in a convenient location but still feels secluded and very cozy I chose the Michael E suite because of the larger jacuzzi tub and it was so relaxing

Everything was very clean and the food was delicious, including our complementary bottle of red wine The only drawbacks were that the bed was a little too soft, and my fiance is a picky eater so he didn’t eat all his breakfast Obviously that is not this B&B’s fault but knowing what breakfast would consist of ahead of time would have been nice Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back!

Razz

My wife and I stayed here and had the king suite in room 228 on 8/12/22-8/14/22 We checked on that Friday 8/12 and went out on the town Upon our return, we got ready for bed, only to notice crunched up chips all over our sheets in our bed

I went down to the front desk and was given a whole set of new sheets my wife and I put on ourselves Omar, the gentleman working took note of our issue and stated we had to call back on Monday and speak with the managerI called back and spoke with Rose, the manager, and she said all she could offer was a $30 discount I explained I did not think that was reasonable that I paid $500 for a 2 night stay in which I had to change my own sheets, on top of having the icky feeling our room wasn’t even cleaned She was very rude, after asking who else I could speak with She said it was just her and hung up the phone DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

KJ Goldstein

The king jacuzzi suit exceeded my expectations My only complaint was that the room was about 58° when we got there Good thing there was a fireplace! And the direct TV was somehow not connected

We had to jiggle and fiddle with everything, but got it workingHighly recommend staying here for a quick getaway

George

Specifically, wanted to use thehot tub** asked them prior to, and during

that it was in”Proper working order”I went down the first time and I told her it was “cold” and she checked ,and she said it was 93° and by the time I left it was up to 96°degrees”Not acceptable”The room was okay, but the shower/tub drain didn’t work

Bea Urself

Overall a decent stay The Jacuzzi suite really is what it looks like in the pictures, saddest part being that it’s is right there when you walk in the door so if your partner goes out/comes in while you are enjoying it, you risk being seen by anyone in the hallway Late check out was an option -11am was extended to 1pm for a reasonable $26

85 The location however seemed weird and there is no view from that particular room

Definitely will recommend staying here to my personal family, friends and anybody looking for a cozy clean place to stay 😁

Lela Steffes

When we pulled in, the lot was nice and clean We made our way into the lobby, which seemed really nice and clean The girl at the counter was sitting there with her phone and earbuds in

I asked where the bathroom was and then she got up and pointed the way She was nice enough, but seemed sort of lazy I went to the restroom and my husband checked us in He said she acted as if she didn’t really want to be there She also told him that they were pretty short-staffed and all the rooms hadn’t been cleaned yet since the weekend started Okaaaay Why would you tell that?? When I was in the bathroom, I noticed that it really needed some tidy-ing up There was toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor and the soap container needed to be filled up There was soap all over the vanity I thought to myself that our room better not look like that We went to the entrance where I room was closest to and there was a garbage can that was completely overflowing I thought that instead of sitting on her bum at the front desk, that girl could have been tending to these issues It just made a nice place look bad I liked our room Nice space and clean But the beds are old and not at all comfy for two people in one bed I think our son slept like a baby (but he’s a teenager and would have slept as well on the floor! Haha!) The mattresses are just way to soft and ours had a slant to it on one side In the bathroom the exhaust fan didn’t work, it was very dark to take a shower and the water went ICE COLD on me for about 20 seconds That woke me up! Also, the drain in the sink smelled like mold and made me gag when I had to brush my teeth or wash my face I guess we got our money’s worth If the things I mentioned were addressed, I could have easily given it 5 stars I’m giving it 3 just because of the mattress and I didn’t get a lot of sleep

Eva Gallant

Excellent customer service! I took advantage of the park and fly option which is super convenient and affordably priced—keeping away the hassle associated with traveling Upon arrival, ALec who checked me in couldn’t have been more excellent and more patient in explaining everything, since I will be with a pet upon my return From making the reservation to checking out every employee was very friendly and professional

This Best Western goes above and beyond to help ease your travel Additionally, the rooms were very clean and spacious, and the bed was super comfy Great assortment of amenities, along with a fridge and microwave I am already looking forward to my return stay

We have to go up and down 12 flights of stairs (twice) Stairways not marked, not lit and several floors were blocked by power tools, cords etc…The rooms are very musty and dirty Tiny sinks and toilets and rooms not stockedNobody who works for the hotel is there They have a person that sits at the front desk, but they are very quick to tell you that they don’t work there Beautiful venue, but don’t ever stay here

Stayed here for a wedding Currently no staff on premises and you get your code to get in and out of the building and roomLocation is convenient to be in downtown St

Paul Did not park a vehicle for my stayElevator was having major issues during stay Was trapped on the 12th floor in the morningNo a/c on in the main parts so the hallways/elevators were hot Room a/c worked thankfullyBathrooms had step up to enter if you have mobility issues Bed was on the firmer side Room had fridge, microwave and kureg machine

The guy was grumpy that checked us in but another front desk person we met was nice We couldn’t use a gift card to pay for our room I booked the king room on booking

com because it was cheaper than booking with the hotel I liked the standard room better that we got the last time we stayed Our room had a kitchen, dishes, wine glasses and mini fridge with freezer We stayed for winter carnival and it was a perfect location The hotel has the top floors of the building St Paul athletic club has an awesome dry and wet sauna and really nice facilities Nice free breakfast but bring your own cup/mug since they only have disposable options They had recycling bin in the room which was a nice touch The housekeeping staff were very nice We love this hotel

WARNING- Food safety procedures at the breakfast bar are not safeOverall the hotel was fine Rooms were clean

Ate breakfast from the hot table on the breakfast bar and within 2 hours I was HORRIBLY sick Manager insisted that nobody else had complained Talked to someone else who had stayed at the hotel and eaten the same thing but left town that day and they had also gotten sick when they got home Of course the manager isn’t going to tell you that others complained when someone gets sick on their watchThe price is fine and for the most part the hotel is clean I wouldn’t roll the dice with the hot breakfast anymore

Hotel is very dated The breakfast is hit or miss – day one was meat, potatoes and eggs Day two was potatoes and eggs

Day three was potatoes, french toast, and eggs Day four was cold breakfast for $9 Day five was a full spread I watched someone try to check in at 6PM and get told their room was not ready yet because housekeeping was short staffed Check in is at 3! It was comfortable enough but I will definitely try a different hotel when in the area again

Mike Beschen

I stayed here almost a month So got a really good feel for how things a run at this location I’ve stayed at several Hilton properties

This one may be the absolute worst one I asked several times for my sheets to be changed, that only happen once during my 26 day stay They never once vacuumed the carpeting in my room Also you can forget about the bar and restaurant It’s almost never open The staff is very friendly but they are working under a manager that is inept I’ll be staying at the Marriott next week

Before I booked my stay, I read all the WONDERFUL reviews about the hosts Seems they unfortunately moved out 2 days before I arrived Too bad they didn’t train the new lady to have the customer service they did

When we arrived, we stood outside the front door in negative degree weather with our bags in arms and rang the bell Door was locked, we could see lady inside ignoring us… so we got confused and cold, and went to sit back in our warm car The host KNEW what time we would arrive so we expected a warm greeting Called and asked the host if we were at the right door, she said yes So we went back to the door and she finally let us in She then proceeded to give a tour which is appreciated but not very convenient when carrying our bags still in arms Finally in our room, we asked for some ice, was told she would be back with some, but she never returned Room and food was good but hoping the customer service gets better before I ever return again

Matthew Hagen

We stayed in the Cynthia room It was spacious, comfortable and very relaxingThe staff were all friendly and helpful and a joy to talk with

If we had any needs they were a text away, which was great for when we were out and aboutThe beds are extremely comfortable The room was inspiring and the food was amazing We loved every minuteMy only gripe – and it’s a small one – is that they offer Netflix, Hulu, etc But no log in We like to watch a show before bed, but live TV was all we could get Luckily the bed lulled us to sleep real quickOverall a great experience We hope to visit again!

This is a fabulous quaint place to stay that by far beats a traditional hotel My room and breakfast were fantastic!!! If I ever make my way back to St Paul, I will be staying atThe Covington Inn – I won’t settle for less!

Lovely Thao

The experience was unique & wonderful; it felt like we were away from our home without really being away The downtown city scape at night from the boat was gorgeous Liz was a good, accommodating host and cooked a delicious morning breakfast

She was also very communicative and responsive with text Would defintely come back again 🙂

Terry at the front desk was wonderful She is kind, personable and upbeat She got us the late checkout we needed

Our room was nice and comfortable and the hotel was quiet My one complaint was with the night staff She was rude Seemed like I was bothering her by asking for juice 30 minutes before breakfast Another employee was nice enough to help me Over all a good experience I’m not sure they should have someone with such a negative demeanor working their front desk, even if it is overnight

I almost always book at Hampton Inn

I like the chain and it is generally reliable I seldom if ever write reviews My advice would be to avoid this particular Hampton Inn The property seems old and a bit run down There is a single elevator for a three story hotel No ice machines on either the second or third floor The parking area design is poor I don’t know how well the hotel is managedthe check-in clerk took forever to get me a room and then sent me to a room that wasn’t ready for occupancy I hate to write this, as I am a loyal customer of Hampton, but I would advise people to find a different hotel in the St Paul area I will continue to stay at Hampton Inns, but not at this one

Staff is friendly and the breakfast was good but the rooms are tiny, the bed squeaked every time we moved and there were stains on several things in our room (curtains, desk chair, lounge chair) Hot tub isn’t working either which isn’t a huge deal but it’s one of the only amenities The building is also in a shared parking lot so it was really loud in our first floor room starting around 6am
