The hotel and rooms were pretty dated and the hallways and carpet had definitely seen better days – Smelled like a frat house on Sunday morning when you got off the elevator Our room wasn’t much better but the linens and towels were clean Bathroom and furniture were filthy in our suite

We were moved to a different room that was slightly better Staff was excellent and very helpful all around Housekeeping was very attentive and polite to guests The lobby and breakfast / bar area was very nice and had a wide variety of coffee drinks and breakfast options Pool area was a highlight here clean and spacious We used the hot tub and pool daily Would go back but hopefully corporate does something about the overall condition of the rooms , furniture and common areas (aside from the lobby and pool) Again, staff and Housekeeping were amazing and the only reason I would returnThanks to them

This hotel has the appeal of a tomb LED lights would help this hotel out immensely The lobby was nice and inviting so I was surprised to get out of the elevator and be immediately transported to the reptile house at the zoo

Minus the reptiles, our room was dank and dark and smelled weird It was like a musty-feet smell We stayed at several hotels on this vacation and this was the only one I said, “cancel tomorrow’s reservation, I can’t stay here” I don’t mind old as long as it’s updated and clean This place just creeped me out Maybe since the lobby was nice and bright they are slowly renovating the hotel, but it would have been nice to have seen signs of that Staff was nice and pleasant

Hanging with the Coopers

The hotel is dated The toilet in our room had low pressure and didn’t flush well The front desk and the rest of the staff were very accommodating and kind with the exception of the manager at the front desk

He may be the GM as well We had a really good rate and I believe because of that he gave us a room on the lowest floor at the very end of the hall despite my husband’s Gold status They have pool security on duty and I understand the need for him as locals probably abuse pool privileges, but we were told we could only have 6 guests in the pool area including room guest We had not been home to Florida in 3 years due to Covid so family wanted to come see us and with it being so hot and us staying at a hotel, we invited them to come see us at the pool There were only 8 people at the pool when we got there and within 30 minutes they were all gone before the rest of our family arrived We had maybe 14 people show up, mostly siblings with their kids and we were told we had to leave or book extra rooms We’ve always stayed at this hotel and had similar number of guests and NEVER had any issues Maybe they thought we were going to have a party, I’m not sure, but that wasn’t the intention and I didn’t like the way they treated us especially as paying guests I explained that we were home for the holiday and we hadn’t seen each other in years so meeting up at pool would be fun for everyone and we would be respectful of others They didn’t care and said it was against their policy for me to have more than 6 guests I asked to see the policy, but they couldn’t produce one I didn’t argue We all left We finished out our stay, but I will never stay there again They are not family friendly, unreasonable and uncompromising

Great property!Very clean, close to everything including, Malls, grocery stores, restaurants and the beach! The lobby is nice and the restaurant is a plus! My kids loved the pool which they hung out until 10:00pm!Rooms and bathroom were spacious! The fact that its located at the entrance of the IMG complex makes it even more practical!

Giselle Guzman

The hotel rooms are very modern and comfortable (we saw our friend’s room which is where they stayed), service was excellent and the hotel restaurant selections were extremely good We stayed at one of the villas because our group was larger and they were very roomy, we got 5 double beds split out through 3 bedrooms, 2 onsuite baths, plus an additional full bathroom If I was to go back; I would prefer to stay at the hotel rooms rather than the villas, there was lack of natural light, cleanliness in some parts of the villa, bathrooms and kitchen were outdated and the wall colors were too dark which made the place look it enclosed

There was an awful smell coming from the garage which was also very filty The price of the villas compared to the hotel rooms was only $10 cheaper per room

Monica Thomas

I selected a particular hotel room based on a sleep aid drink being included When we arrived at the hotel, the drink was not in room I phoned front desk but there was no answer, so I went down to inquire about drink

The attendant, left me standing in the lobby for about 30 minutes while he ran around the hotel looking for the drink He finally returned empty handedThe entire week up to our stay at the hotel, my daughter and I talked about this drink and we were excited because we don’t have these types of drinks in our country More importantly, we have trouble sleeping in hotel rooms so we were excited for such a thingTalking to the manager was NOT helpful as he was rude and disrespectful not allowing me to explain the reason for our disappointment I suggested he take the information off his website about the drink and he said he wouldn’t because they hope to get it again sometime – even though I brought up “false advertising”And these “Bear” beds they advertise are nothing specialDo not trust the glorious information on the website about the amazing sleeps you’ll have!

This is our second time staying at this location in this exact room and we had a great time The room was small The a/c was in the window

The bed was soft The tv was small Who cares! The pool was perfect! The beach was 2 minutes away The staff was super friendly There are shops, restaurants, ice cream shops, etc within walking distance Your are about 100 feet from a trolley stopwe loved staying at sunrise gardenThe only real con was the lack of water pressure in the shower You may as well wash your hair in the sink It was annoyingly brutal 5 stars if they figure out how to fix itIt was bad 8 years ago and it’s still bad Not a deal breaker though

Peggy Noble

Pros: this complex is an adorable, quaint, old florida style complex Very convenient for walking to the beach, restaurants and shops The pool and grounds were well kept

Any maintenance people i interacted with were very nice and responsive to what they could take care ofcons: unit 4 is one of, i believe 4, units that have an upper unit Something needs to be done to cut down on the noise transfer from the upper unit It was as if big foot was walking around I was awakened every time the upper tenants got up to use the bathroom And if they were very early risers, my sleeping in was ruined the moment they got up and started moving aroundalso, the bed was the most uncomfortable bed i’ve ever slept in Both of these issues were pointed out to local vacasa personnelsummary: i would stay here again if the mattresses are replaced and i was in one of the units with no unit above

Carole Pritchard

We have stayed here 4 times now always in number 4 It’s an overall AWESOME location on the north end to get to free trolley, City Pier, Waterfront restaurant and Rod and Reel Love the heated pool area, gas grills, and pet friendly policy

However, we are considering not staying in that room anymore due to the vacation rental next door that is a house with a pool and the last two times we’ve stayed the kids (and parents) were SO loud every day that when we got back from our day we couldn’t enjoy our beautiful patio area Also, the bed is only a queen size which would be ok IF it was a decent mattress but we both had backaches from sleeping in the “dented” mattress WiFi very spotty in the room and a few buzzing outlets that need repair! Also with new owners it seemed a bit unorganized operationallyno dish detergent or coffee supplied and no one around if you needed anythingmight as well stay at a vrbo or bnb if I’m going to do all my dishes by hand (no dishwasher) strip the beds etc

I honestly don’t understand why this hotel has such a low rating (2 stars)

my mother and I stayed for 3 days and were very pleased with our accommodations The room was very clean and nicely decorated (even had DOVE toiletries available) the staff is friendly, and the continental breakfast was amazing!! Buffet style hot food was available such as eggs, bacon, sausage and even pancakes The only thing that I could complain about was the water pressure in the shower but hey, it really wasn’t that bad We will definitely stay here again!

Nicole Wilson

From the moment you walk in you’re greeted by the two most wonderful young ladies with smiles that make you feel instantly welcomed!!! Our room was clean, very modern and overall very nice The pool was amazing and refreshing, the tiki bar was a blast with the most absolute best bar tender Denise, once she takes your first drink order she remembers your name and makes sure you are always taken care of, making everyone feel as if they come first Top notch service here from the office all the way through!!! My room was recently remodeled, sparkling cleanedThe hotel is very well maintained, security cameras everywhere and the laundry and pool accessible only for guestsExcellent customer service

This hotel worth every dollar spent

Joe Klapperich

This place was absolutely AMAZING Older? sure

undergoing renovations? Absolutely The room was spacious, updated, pristine and wonderful Check in was effortless Tiki bar was VERY nice, bar tender was friendly and prices were more than reasonableONLY ISSUE – this is a VERY INEXPENSIVE place where you are getting MORE than double your money as an experience HOWEVER – this ALSO means that the “Riff Raff” chooses tom stay there Persons can be friendly, or rude We found 80% friendly, the other 20% wanted to ENSURE that everyone know they were there, they were visible, and that they didn’t care what ANYONE else thoughtManagement did the best they could, but in the end – not a whole lot they could doWould we stay again? 100% yes! Will be our “go to” next time

The SureStay is not a 5 star hotel, nor does it claim to be What it is is a very reasonable place to stayThe rooms and the bathrooms were clean when we arrived, and they were cleaned well every day

The beds are comfortable, and the showers had good pressure, although the hot water didn’t get too hot

Pankaj Upadhyay

I don’t know why there are some bad reviews We stayed there for one night last month and for 3 nights around 7 months ago and both of the time, it met our expectations Bed was cozy, water bottles were complimentary and coffee was not bad

This hotel recently got transitioned to a new ownership and the new owner was very polite and humble person and considered all their guest’s special requests I wish him luck for a good business I along with my family will always consider this hotel whenever we are in town We love Sarasota and Siesta key beaches! Thank you!

Nichole Oxendine

We were originally booked at the Holiday Inn Sarasota Ap, however it was the middle of the night when we needed to check in and we were staying about week I booked through Expedia and because itv was the middle of the night the dates were not allowing us to check in immediately I called Expedia and They were able to get us in here

I am actually glad we ended up switching hotels this one is cleaner, the rooms are huge, the rooms are super clean and the hotel desk ppl are very accommodating We didn’t swim but the pool is super clean as well There were lots of other families swimming The GriggsGrounds are very clean no ppl hanging out in the parking lot It’s a great place in my opinion

We were there to help my Mother-In-law close the deal for a new house in the area We always stay at Hampton Inn’s for we always have had fantastic experiences This was no exception

The staff was absolutely excellent! They even let us print some contract material, which went well beyond what is required The pool and breakfast were equally excellent The one issue is the mattress for the pull out mattress was slightly soiled, but in no way takes away from the overall experience Very well done!

Stay was great! Service was great! Friendly staff was great! Clean rooms! The Manager David was a star Great customer service very attentive and quick to help with whatever you need Location is not far from main attractions and low traffic so big plus there

We enjoyed our stay and will be back at this hotel next time we are in Sarasota

KAM

Edit to add: David Alexander the GM may want to stop making slanderous remarks This is my account – I posted my honest review!!! You and your employees have HORRIBLE customer service!! Once again

video will show there was no disruption at your hotel but will show your crazy behavior!! Stop being a bully!!! The owners of this property should be ashamed to have you as the GM!! You are showing your true colors by your slanderous responses to my review!! This is my account!! No one has made any false accounts Your accusations of such are disgusting!!Nothing about my review is false You have horrible customer service I don’t need to complete a stay at your hotel for me to write a review on my personal experience I was not disruptive and there is video proof of that You threatened to have me removed but I calmly left your hotel with no issues Your staff is poorly trained in customer service The GM David Alexander was very unprofessional in his dealings with me I have every right to post my honest opinion on my experience with the staff at this hotel If you don’t like what I have to write then you should have treated me with more respect!! If other people have posted bad reviews that has nothing to do with me This is my review and I stand by it!!

Joel Appel

I can no longer, in good conscience, continue to recommend this hotel Their customer relations are non-existent and the General Manager makes false accusations I would tell you that there are several nearby hotels with comparable or perhaps even lower rates

I myself suggest trying the Hilton Garden Inn by the Sarasota Airport They have excellent customer support and will go out of their way to accommodate you Additionally, this Hilton gets 5 stars for cleanliness

So it’s clearly not owned by the lady that is referenced in some of the earlier reviews any longer We didn’t see or hear from any one person on this stay The place is nice, it’s at a great location and is convenient to the beach

Here are my main thoughts on this property:1 We stayed in Unit #4, which is essentially a 1 bedroom (studio type) unit It has one bed, a couch, small dining table, kitchen and bathroom The unit is nice and what you would expect on AMI You also have access to a community pool, common area, grills/seating that you share with the other 6 units2 The Maintenance – this unit/property had a few problems and that’s why I can’t give it a full 5* rating Our front door (while it worked properly) had some pretty big gaps in the seal and resulted in light, hot air etc coming in the unit Also, keep in mind that our unit only had one window unit to cool the entire place This was pushing it, but given the time of the year we were okay There are 2 ceiling fans and a portable fan in the unit as well3 The TV’s – for the majority of the trip, both TV’s in the unit were not functioning properly This resulted in a “Please Wait” message being displayed on both of them at the same time We boiled it down to likely being a cable issue, but couldn’t get to the bottom of it The text we sent to the responsible party went unanswered4 The Location – It’s at a great spot in AMI it truly is! There were some previous reviewers that complained about the proximity to Gulf Dr but that truly wasn’t a worry when staying here The unit was still quiet and we weren’t affected by road noise at all It’s super walkable to some of the best spots at AMI, and is about 5 mile to the beach The beach access at the end of the street is not crowded and offers some of the best parking options out of most of the AMI access points We simply loaded up the car each morning and drove to that access5 Price – I paid a lot for the unit Granted it was only a 2 night stay but at the end of the day it was expensive For the price you would like to see some of the above mentioned issues addressedBottom Line: The property is nice, super great location, and I would 100% stay here again I wouldn’t stay here longer than a few days/nights just due to the unit’s size If you are a couple this unit/location would be excellent for you

Gina Fanuzzi

I stayed at the Driftwood for a month in February 2019 in the Spoonbill Suite I was really pleased with the accommodations Nicely decorated in Beachy decor

It was small, but good for myself and my husband Everything was updated and it was clean The reason why we didn’t return was not because of the accommodations but because of some of the other guests which thankfully weren’t there for the whole month There were rules in place so everyone would have an enjoyable vacation however these rules were ignored by a few guests Two families arrived with several children and basically turned a tranquil property into an amusement park They took over the pool for pretty much the entire time and past the pool hours into the night with Piercing screams They took over the BBQ which was shared by all units and set up right in the pathway we had to use to enter and exit Total inconsideration The other issue was with smokers It was specifically stated on signs and in the ad that there was absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property There were smokers right in front of our unit and I had to close the windows and door so as not to smell it in our unit I told them it is a non smoking property but that didn’t stop them Our first two weeks were great but the 2nd two weeks, not so much There was no PRIVATE outdoor space which complicated things more I did complain about the kids in the pool breaking the rules on the sign posted and they got a call from management but that just made me feel uncomfortable when I walked down the path and was glared at The cleaning staff and booking and management was great

Larry Kokko

My wife and I were there at the end of July 2013 for our anniversary The accommodations were very good The room was clean, the bed comfortable

The staff/owner was very friendlyThe beach was well within walking distance (50 yards?)The area was very quiet, that may have been because we were on a Wednesday Weekends, we were told, the island is packed

I love that as a Hilton honors member we get a $10 credit per person for breakfast, it’s the reason why I always book garden inn Breakfast was yummy and our server was absolutely wonderful, very friendly However I was a little surprised that they do not have any fresh fruit for the pancakes or French toast

The night time gentlemen at the check in desk was very kind and even helped to store some pies for us in the restaurant fridge until checkout Which meant so much to us, because they were for my mom, and I wouldn’t have been able to do that without him! All in all, the service here is fantastic and the employees really match the Hilton way by giving great service to their guests The pool is also a decent size, and gets lots of sunshine so it’s nice to lay out And it’s nice that they have brochures with all the things to do in the areaThe rooms however are a different story The beds are extremely uncomfortable, hard and old The room has a very clear musty odor as soon as you open the door (probably from the very old carpets and curtains getting stuff spilled on them over the years) There are no fans in the bathroom so pray nobody needs to go number two during your trip And the pillows under the cover are completely yellow The hotel needs a serious renovation, especially being in such an upscale town like Sarasota Being an airport hotel is not an exception, especially when there’s another newer Hilton in the same parking lot

Theresa Hoban

The hotel is very spacious with nice modern decor The restaurant and bar had good food and drinks but only to go because they have no servers The pool is large and great for families

The staff were very nice and customer service oriented They have some cleaning and repair issues The grout in bathroom was moldy, stain in bathtub, wallpaper peeling and stained, carpet had dark spot needing cleaning Shower curtain is loose from wall Furniture needs touch up where it’s scratched up They made error on final bill that I caught when I was home They corrected it and got the $10 refunded

Ana Lopez

Booked this place because it is pet friendly and my family and I were traveling with my small dog Our stay was OK, nothing extraordinary but we did not book any extraordinary rooms I like that they do have a pool available

Only thing that we did not like is the welcome We booked online 2 rooms and when we arrived for check in, the guy only gave us one key We then realized that we booked for 2 rooms, went back and asked He said that since we didn’t say anything he didn’t know But don’t these people have a computer screen in front of them with all information? Like we were already charged for both rooms, but if we don’t say anything we don’t get both keys? Also, he didn’t ask Very sarcastic tone was given For a one night stay its fine but will look for something else if its for longer

Service poor for the price we paid 220$ a night Toiletries were not refilled repeatedly Every day I had to ask for a fourth towel AGAIN We stayed 4 nights I mostly had to pick up the towel at reception myself The white-haired staff at buffet was not always friendly and helpful30 minutes drive to beachesPool area could use some deckchairsSigns there are misleading respectively make no sense

Paul at the front desk provided outstanding customer service, giving me a noon checkout time when I arrived at 2am Paul is also friendly and makes great conversationThis hotel only gets 3 stars because they have no bar soap

A $250 hotel rate on a Thursday night and no bar soap? Neither at the front desk nor in the room Really? $250 is much more than the cost of my flight from BaltimoreThis hotel will also place a $50 hold on your card above the cost of the hotel room Somehow, in the process of booking this room, I’ve accumulated $900 worth of holds on my card This is ridiculousAlso, the rooms here are dated There is no window shade Only sheer curtains hang in the window So, if I want to sleep late, the sun will come streaming into the room Also, the furniture is dirtyThe dated bathrooms, however, are clean

Really nice hotel Being next to the airport I thought I would hear planes taking off frequently However, in my 2 nights I stayed there I only heard 1 plane take off near the hotel and it was in the morning

They had a dishwasher, microwave, full size fridge and dishes They also had a grill by the pool Great option for families It was fairly new and very clean I would recommend this hotel for anyone

Debbie Jones

I love hotels with grills! This one didn’t disappoint If you have a vehicle this is a great place! Without a vehicle it’s a little remote but there is a restaurant and bar in the sister property behind The room was very clean and comfortable

The bed was comfortable as well The grill and grill set were well kept and helped me make some delicious “home” cooked meals The staff was super ni e and helpful as well I would definitely stay here again!

The staff here is phenomenal The breakfast, always wonderfully stocked Housekeeping is kind

We stayed here 5 days Did not meet one staff member who was rude , and met many who took their time to ask how you was doing and have conversation They shampooed carpets often when people left My ONLY COMPLAINT was the pool was not cleaned 5 days where there it was not touched Was disappointed that we paid for hotel to swim at and wouldn’t swim in it because it was too dirty

Heather Carlson

Location okay Super confused on how it’s “remodeled” because the only thing that’s new is the entrance waiting area Carpet in rooms is disgusting, general decor in rooms is super outdated as well as TVs and service on TVs

I have never been to a hotel that doesn’t have a hook or rack for towels No hooks besides two on backside of bathroom door So no where to hang your hand towel or swim suits Super tiny closet that was just gross Beds were comfortable but that is the only plus to this place Fridge had stains in it My pillow smelled No place to plug the coffee maker in unless you moved it and then no refills on coffee for 5 nights there Went down one morning for coffee and OJ for my daughter Coffee was sour so most likely left over OJ machine was off which I didn’t know so I kept trying and finally realized it when an employee yelled “It’s off! HELLO?! It’s off” Super super rude Pool is TINY! I would say 80% of the people staying here were construction workers working in the area I would never stay here again I’ve stayed in a lot of places and this was the worst of them all

My stay at the Country Inn and Suites was great I just been relocated to Sarasota by my company and I’m glad that I was able to find this property Special thanks to Katie at the front desk

She took time to show me some of the rooms prior to my stay and she was very hospitable and professional I have recommended this hotel, to some of my co-workers that will be traveling down to Sarasota in the future

Location was good, the hotel was clean The entire operation seemed understaffed, causing delays The employees are not friendly

no welcome greeting, no please or thank you Rather curt and cold No information regarding hotel provided at arrival The room was acceptable, not comfy or classy just OK The room door did not shut automatically and the shower flour is very slippery (both serious safety problems) Towels were inexpensive So – the takeaway that there were no big deal issues just too much for the rates that were charged – and the staff needs to understand they’re in the “Hospitality” industry

Pretty typical Courtyard My two bed room was fairly large with enough space for two traveling golfers to put everything in Bathroom is nice and new but could be larger in my opinion

Beds are comfortable and clean but AC unit is a bit loud No complaints but taking off a star because it is ridiculously over priced for what you’re getting (but so is everything around) Great location to nearby restaurants within walking distance

Kelly Jean

Food at the bistro was terrible Spent $50 on breakfast and ended up throwing most away (home fries were exceptionally bad) Continental breakfast not offered at this location

Room had large kitchenette that took up an excessive amount of space, but not a single kitchen related implement (eg, napkins, utensils, plates) Furniture a bit basic, but I guess this was being updated during our stay (one of the furniture movers lost control of his cart which rammed into the back of my car) It wasn’t a terrible hotel, but for the price I expected something more up to the Marriott standards I feel I could’ve gotten something similar or better at a Comfort Inn or Days Inn, but paid half the price Shower and bed were great Didn’t carry the typical Paul Mitchell shower products
