Clean, beautiful units, pleasant garden area and common area similar to an English Bed & Breakfast Safe & easy to access parking lot that’s secured Cafe next door for any quick bites or coffee/tea, and community gardens next to cafe

Kind staff Also there are random events like Jurassic Park movie night in Greenhouse with free snacks and drinks – very cute!

Benson May

Lovely experience overall Exactly as pictured, our room was exceptionally clean and well stocked with numerous cute welcome snacks/tea/coffee All-stone shower was a highlight

We stayed in the room with bunk beds and an in-suite bathroom, the space was perfect for two and felt spacious with the separate dining table under the bay windows! Each staff member we met was friendly and excited to share restaurant recommendations and advice about Detroit, and helped make our experience five-star!

Sharla Hunter

Stayed at the El Moore Lodge for New Years Eve 2021 and this hotel is very nice The secure parking was definitely a plus as well as how to access everything upon arrival I stayed in the Moonbeam Cabin and it was exactly like the pictures online

For anyone who stays here in the future they do offer Netflix and Youtube TV The views are spectacular and I would definitely stay here againThe only downside I would say is not being able to access other streaming apps such as Hulu when doing so it asked for a pin, also no phone to be able to call downstairs if needed

This hotel is located in a great area next to a lot of amenities If you love swimming, I’m sorry there is no pool They do have rooms with jetted tubs

We had to switch our room because it had a strong musty onion scent We were checking in on my way to my birthday dinner, and our next room appeared to be clean but the next morning we realized the shower was not clean The living room area is nice, the furniture is a little dated, and the baseboards were coming up Other than that the room was nice I like the vanity, that leads down three steps to your bedroom The rooms have a nice view, but some of the front desk reps are unfriendly My valet parking was paid for, and I was still charged To receive a reversal you must speak with a mgr, and I wasn’t called back for 2 days The bedroom and King size bed are very nice it would be perfect if the room was fully cleaned and they updated the furniture

I will never be able to say enough good things about this place First, the service was amazing Everyone we interacted with was a prime example of how service should be

It made every experience here so worth it! Probably the nicest people I have ever met in a hotelInside the hotel was gorgeous Every where you look it was pleasing to the eye Now, every other hotel experience we have will have to live up to this oneIt was only a 15 minute walk to the Fox theatre and that made it even better Very pleased

Prudence

Location was great, valet service was great The room was a deluxe suite, very nice and spacious with 2 doubles in it and a separate sitting room The bath was so big our toddlers were too afraid to get in it

We were even offered a shuttle to and from the passport agency which took away our stress completely Big big thank you to Andre who went above and beyond for our familyWe booked through a 3rd party that advertised free breakfast for 2 adults with the room However once there it was not free and management would not honour it even after showing proof it was part of our booking A consolation was $25 off our order So beware of offered perks through 3rd party websites Other than that a great stay at The Atheneum and would recommend

This will be my go-to lodging for Little Caesar’s Arena events! Beautiful inn – main floor, hallways, and guest rooms The rooms are spacious and well-appointed The entire mansion has the feel of luxury lodging

The staff is friendly and helpful The location cannot be beat Just one block from LCA Parking (paid) is right out the back door There was no water glass in the room, but this was probably an oversight Communication could have been better, but the overall experience made up for this

Jonathan Fuhrman

Stayed here because it was the closest hotel to Little Caesars Arena for the Dua Lipa concert Not only was it convenient but as somebody who loves antiques and vintage homes, it was over the top fabulous to stay in In addition to the spacious room and bathroom, there are three seating areas on the main floor that guests can use

Just a very lovely place with great staff Highly recommend!

Thais Ziroldo

I had the worst experience with this place and unfortunately the staff was also not accepting of our complaints as other reviews mentioned The room was disgustingly dirty Dirt everywhere, stains on the sheets, ripped towels and comforter, the blinds of the main window which faces the street wouldn’t shut and there was nothing we could do about it, room temperature cannot be adjusted and it was insanely hot in the rooms, etc

the list goes on and on… there was so much dirt everywhere, pills from previous guests on the couch, rose petals on the floor, etc I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone I had such a horrible experience that I literally checked out early after not even 24hrs there and checked in somewhere else I have no idea how this place has good reviews or is considered 4 star hotel Literally the worst hotel I’ve ever been in my life

Would give 4 or 5 stars if it were not for a couple things1) I stood in the lobby for a good 5 minutes before being able to check in as no one was at the front desk and there was no bell to ring to get an employee’s attention2) We had a room right next to a maintenance room

4x during our stay, twice in the middle of the night, waking us up, this awful noise that sounded like a hump back whale calling it’s mate alarmed us and continued for at least a minute At checkout, the employee did apologize, but didn’t seem to care that we were disturbed If you get room 218, ask for another room3) Bring your own pillow, which I normally do, but forgot You need like 6 pillows to give you any sort of support Beds were very firm We all woke up with sore backs (me, my husband, and 11yo)Otherwise, the hotel was in a nice area Secluded near some woods Updated and appealing in appearance

Kath Fowler

I’m always looking for Hotels going “Green” But don’t short change customer comforts Room was clean

Staff was friendly Bathroom had no heat/AC, no wastebasket We, just a couple, were given 2 washcloths, 2 hand towels & 2 towels Shower& each of you use your washcloth next morning you’d like to wash your face but all you have is a dirty washcloth! Dry towels & reuse them but not with a wash cloth Great staff!

Karen Lennes

The staff was helpful and friendly The lobby area was cleanThe rooms were dirty and moldy

The door of our room didn’t close fully The staff literally took a screwdriver and shoved in the doorway to readjust the hinge Said that this was a common issue in the 40 year old building The mold in the bathroom was awful — even on the ceiling above the toilet There were stains on the floor and cobwebs behind the desk Even the light on the wall was askew, as there was no screw holding on the shade The only thing keeping me from marking this a 1 is the staff They were very good

I try to be fair and I don’t rate a business one star unless it’s truly deserved However I would not recommend the Element hotel DetroitLets start with the positives,1

The Monarch club is nice and has a few food choices which makes service fast2 Most of the Staff are polite3 The breakfast is okay as well, when it’s not left over eggs from the previous day The fresh muffins are goodSerious negatives1VERY UNSAFE2 I had over $1,500 in parking fees charged to my account when I did not valet park or park period with the element hotel at all during my stay3Some of the housekeeping staff are very dishonest and steal from guest rooms and are very dishonest to guest4 The hotel is very out of control at times, people are so drunk and high off drugs that they are fighting, arguing and banging on stuff in the hall ways at 2am, makes you feel very unsafe I was afraid to go out into the hallway5Rooms are literally falling apart from domestic violence and people fighting in the roomsIf I had to choose a hotel to reside at in downtown Detroit I would choose Shinola hotel for my safety and peace of mind I have stayed there and never had any problems always very pleasant

Shina Alade

Really can’t say enough great things about this hotel! It’s well-priced, and accordingly sort of a no-frills experience, but it does all the important things right Gives you the feel of staying in a boutique hotel, without the boutique price tag It’s in a gorgeous historic building, perfectly located very central to Detroit’s entertainment district

Modern, updated rooms that feel clean and fresh, with very comfortable bedding Free wifi, free breakfast, and reasonably priced valet parking This is my go-to Detroit hotel!

Aaron

This might be the best business hotel I’ve ever stayed in! So much to highlight in a stay I thoroughly enjoyed: fabulous service from everyone; very comfortable, quiet, big, modern rooms with awesome beds and white noise machines; perfectly silent air conditioning; fantastic desks, ergo chairs(!) and WiFi for work; a full kitchen with stove and dishwasher that I could have had my meals in; decent hotel gym; access to the fantastic YMCA Detroit next door if you really want to stay fit; nice, healthy breakfasts and cooked omelettes in what is supposed to be a 3-star hotel(?); perfect location; great restaurants nearby; cool restoration of a beautiful old building Can’t wait to come back I hope all element hotels are like this

Nice place It’s really cheap if you get the dorm style room The bunk bed rooms are the same cost and quality as a Motel 6 or Days Inn but smaller

Not sure about the single bed rooms Feels very home-like but also feels like a place for travelers It’s about a half hour walk or 5-7 minute drive to downtown It was kind of cold last time I went though, I woke up a bit cold and the hot water in the first floor bathroom didn’t seem to work right

I stayed at Hostel Detroit for three nights in October 2021 Any time I texted or emailed with staff it was always a helpful experience and I felt supported with my questions Being still in coronavirus times, the place was fairly empty so I didn’t see but one other guest while I was there

Someone was playing loud music to make up for the lack of other guests my first night, but I was exhausted and didn’t ask if they’d mind turning it down after quiet hours started I had rented a private room to have a “home base” for my stuff, which was a good decision regardless, though I ended up not needing it for privacy 🙂 shoutouts to Stevie the bike, I put it through miles of Detroit roads I tried eating at several of the places recommended by the hostel and all were great I love hostels and I loved that HD had private rooms for those of us who want the social aspect without necessarily needing a luggage lock when we leave I appreciated this strange time for what it was, but look forward to when I can hear people from around the world talking about their lives again
