I booked a weekend at the Victorian Rose Garden B & B with friends recently for an event in Chicago I thought I was booking just a room, but what we had was an entire experience Sherry graciously opens her home and makes you feel welcomed and more like friends than guests

We enjoyed this lovely Victorian home and all it had to offer Our room had a wonderful feel including a private bathroom with a claw foot tub If you are looking for a place without interaction from your host, this is not the place for you Sherry greats you when you arrive, sat down at breakfast to share in the conversation and was always on hand if needed If you are looking to be treated like family I would definitely recommend checking into this lovely B & B!

Michael Grossenbacher

My wife and I came out for a long weekend to reconnect and get some time away from our kid The experience was overwhelmingly positive Sherry was a fantastic host, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts were amazing

We expected the sort of continental breakfast you’d get at a hotel but instead got a different homemade meal every day – apple french toast, cheese and spinach quiche, and vegetable omelets, all with fresh fruit There’s really nothing negative I can say about this place We’ll be staying here again when we come back into town

Jennifer Moody

I had a great experience at the Victorian Rose Garden B&B I was only there for a night, but got to enjoy some quality conversations with Sherry, had a delicious breakfast, a comfortable night’s stay, and a great book on the porch I stayed in Lady Teresa’s bedroom – the bed was comfy, the air unit kept the room comfortable without being loud, and I didn’t hear any of the other guests

I actually thought the room was much bigger in person than it looked in the photos Downtown Algonquin was cute and so close – we’ll have to come back to stay so we can experience that

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!I don’t even want to give it a 1 starHorrible Horrible experience We have at least 12 different rooms booked for a crew, thru the company I work for, and not one of us has had a single good thing to say about this hotel Don’t book it unless you want to be talked to like a dog, want to be spied on, & want to be told “to stand outside” because your name isn’t on the reservation or because “your mask needs to be pulled up” or “put a mask on”

Basically there escorting people off the property if you don’t have a mask on while your inside the building Also, the elevators haven’t been inspected since 2017, there very unsafe! Use the stairs if possible! Working an entire day, then coming back here to “relax” for an entire week… literally makes me want to sleep in my car & I’ve only been here 3 days Not only that, but they allow people in your rooms while your gone, so don’t leave anything that’s of value!DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!

Shelley Sheerin

We booked this hotel for its shuttle and extended parking features Those two things were fine Parking was about the same price as other nearby hotels

We had Tony as a shuttle driver to the airport who was great On the trip back we had Phil who was wonderful Both drivers were top notch, true assets to this hotel Great drivers, friendly and helpfulNow as for the other staff…when trying to schedule the shuttle, my husband had called more that once and people were either clueless or rudeI personally called to confirm our time and the lady was condescending and rude The check-in staff when we stayed (after or trip) were also extremely rude and difficult to understand Not welcoming or pleasant in any wayWe had two rooms One the air worked, one the air barely worked I called down to the front desk and was told I needed to “push the red button” One red button was heat and the other was to raise the temp Obviously not helpfulThe bathrooms were not clean Stained tub floor that could have used a good bleaching The room where the toilet and shower are tiny! You can’t even open the door if the bath mat is in front of the tub There is mildew covering the grouting and shower headSheets seemed clean but did have stains The rooms were also much smaller that I was expecting One desk chair and no other seating unless you sit on a bed Far cry from being a suite! The only good thing about this property was the airport shuttle serviceI would also get good directions from the drop off driver so you know where to be picked up

Kimberly Ramirez

The staff (housekeepers, front desk staff, shuttle drivers) are INCREDIBLE and so kind The rooms were clean and mostly quietThe manager (Wendy?) is downright mean and nasty

You can hear her berating guests and employees throughout your entire stay She never stops yelling She made me never want to visit again Everyone in my party felt the same wayIf it were not for Wendy I’d rate it 5 stars I honestly don’t know how people like her get appointed to managerial positions Radisson needs to reconsider…………

Thumbs up to “General Manager” Rakesh Patel He made sure I had the best service I could ever ask for staying at that hotel He helped make my stay very good while I was there

Plus everything was clean when I checked into my room Patel recommended places to eat, transportation to take, and helped me when I decided to extend my stay His knowledge of the area is impressive An besides my room being clean I had a microwave & mini refrigerator for my use The only problem I had there was the plumbing When I was just taking a whiz it was all good, however when I had to drop more than that the toilet was responding very slow after that You definitely have to wait for the water to settle before you can use it again An it took time, there maintenance needs to increase the water pressure Other than that I liked my stay there

aginggenxer

If you need a room in the area, it is the best option overall for location + priceIt is clean, staff polite and courteous, comfortable and the #1 suggestion I give guests who visit, but require their own spaceIt is not hit or miss They are consistent

Happy Camper

I am not going back to this place I have been here 3 times They don’t change their beddings , they just make beds

First night, I slept on top of the covers, they had yellow stains on the between the sheets On my second visit, the room seemed clean On the third visit, the duvet cover had blood stains or something like itBed sheets were wrinkled indicating they were slept in and there was napkin behind the nightstand Hire a house Keeping manager with 20/20 vision to walk through the rooms Extremely disgusting!

Thank you for an amazing experience! It’s a gorgeous location, makes you feel that you’re in Italy! I wish I lived closer The sangria white and red and peach drinks are amazing, delicious! We will be back many times in the future and my friend is thinking of hosting a fundraising event there in the future Thank you for also donating an amazing tour and experience for my friend’s fundraising event

My husband and I spent a weekend at the bed and breakfast for our anniversary Everything about the stay was amazing We don’t live far from the winery and frequent it often, but we have 3 young children that we’ve never left overnight

This was the perfect “destination” The room was impeccably clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated We stayed in the American Suite The staff was so friendly and accommodating They made us feel like we were vacationing (rather than staying 20 minutes from home!) Prior to checking in our room, we did a Founder’s Room experience Celeste made sure we got the most from our tasting, and helped us choose wine we’d truly enjoy I cannot recommend Lynfred enough We had the best weekend and anniversary thanks to Lynfred

John Lambert

Good wine and cool historic building, but no longer allow kids on premises at all or at any events Used to be a good place for families to visit, but now totally unwelcoming We have tasted at numerous wineries around the country, but that’s the first time we have ever encountered that

Really disappointing We were planning on joining the wine club but didn’t since we wouldn’t be allowed at any events or tastings

This is one of the worst hotel experiences that I have ever had The staff was pretty friendly upon check-in, but it went downhill from there We needed a place to sleep for my son’s wedding

Nothing extravagant because we were so busy Every time we returned to our room it smelled like smoke, very distinct smell that resembled drug use The response from the front desk was, “That’s weird” On the second night, our car was broken into Nothing was stolen, but that was the final straw We decided not to stay the last night of our reservation Since we prepaid, they refused to refund the final night’s stay I would not recommend at all There are much better places to stay that are very helpful, friendly, and sympathetic

Priyal Mangla

10/10 *claps*The lady at the front desk, provided the best customer serviceWe were a family of 4, and we reached the hotel well before the checkin timings as out flight landed at 7The lady guided us to lodge the luggage and wait for sometime

And to our surprise, as soon as the room was ready, she checked us in! We also received a room upgradeThis woman was an angel in disguise I can’t recall her name, but I remember she wore specs had black hair and was youngTheir breakfast menu included everything essential Omelettes, waffles, and breads were super good and deliciousThe place is at a very optimum location- bus service is nearby There is a supermarket and Dunkin at walking distance too

There are so many reasons why this beautiful Hotel deserves 5 stars and more! I will start with the ambiance and amenities The Waterfront Room is gorgeous with lovely acoustics for a wedding ceremony or event for dancing The outdoor space on the riverfront is perfect for ceremonies and then of course the grounds are gorgeous for cocktail hours too

No one can COMPARE to the fabulous RAINBOW ROOM! Hello!?!?!?! A light-up dance floor with cool spots to grab photos from?! Yes please The food is fabulous and the staff is even better Kelly makes sure that clients are happy and that events are executed flawlessly She’s got a great eye for detail and is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS optimistic and coming up with unique and cool ways to make events successful The owners take great care of this venue and it shows WE LOVE HOTEL BAKER!!!

Me and my husband went to St Charles for the first time I saw the pictures of the hotel and thought it is a good little historic place to visit and stay

I booked the hotel for two nights We got there late and the whole lobby was under construction, They gave us a dirty room with used water bottles under the bed and dirty bathroom that smelled We didn’t make a big deal as we didn’t want to ruin our trip, however we asked for a room upgrade The receptionist told us that we have to check out from our room at 1100 am and they will give us the other room as soon as they clean it We follow up with them 3 times and they told us that the room will be ready soon Five hours later in a weather of 10 degrees, after we heard no news, we went to check again and they told us that they are going to charge us $500 dollars for sanitation and the claim that we were smoking in the room which was a complete LIE! They even charged our credit card for 2 nights when we stayed only one night I called them and asked for the manager to call me and she never returned my call At the end they removed the second night charge and I had to call the bank to dispute the extra charges I traveled all my life internationally and THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE THAT I EVER HAD!!!! I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO ENJOY THEIR TRIP AS THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR GUESTS AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY PROFESSIONAL COURTESY FOR THEIR GUESTS!!!!!PS never give them your debit card as they are going to charge you without any explanation

Jennifer Mencias

We recently attended the Easter Sunday Brunch that Hotel Baker hosted and it was a delight They had an impressive spread of food that spanned three different rooms The variety of food from pastries, to custom omelets, full breakfast items, seafood spread, meat carving station to many lunch/dinner items no detail was skipped

Oh and don’t forget the most amazing dessert section!!! The service was great, everything was top-notch! Thank you Hotel Baker for a great experience!

Had a great stay Beds were super comfortable Checked in was smooth

I came in late due to flight cancellation so I asked for an upgrade and they gave me a king suite with jacuzzi for a small fee Breakfast was great with hot sandwich, eggs and waffles, it was busy in the morning with everyone coming all at once but did not have to wait Rooms were clean and tidy Staff was attentive Would definitely stay here again Close to everything No nuisance place

Eryk Fairchild

Overall a really great experience! Loved the temp of the room, it was clean, VERY comfy bed, great shower, and the staff was super nice Our son accidentally soaked the whole bathroom and all the towels, they gave us replacements promptly, no fuss Breakfast was fine, they had this really cool pancake machine making minis they my kids loved! My only complaint is a common one for celiacs like me, need more gluten-free options! Will stay here again for sure

Kristin Crooks

My name is Kristin and I own a wedding planning company So, when I say that my expectation for my wedding venue was higher than the average Bride, that is an understatementQ Center had everything I wanted in a wedding venue

Everything in one convenient location, but different spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception I am not a fan of flipping over the same room to use for two different functions, it doesn’t leave room for qualityNot only did Q Center have all of these options, but there are also hotel rooms for the guests to stay in and different rooms for the bridal party to get ready for the big day inWorking with the Q Center staff was a huge stress reliever for me Traci was our coordinator at Q Center and she absolutely knocked it out of the park for us She was so easy to communicate with, always responding to anything I needed so quickly She was efficient, organized and made me feel at ease handing everything over on the big day I am so thankful for her!The entire Q Center staff was polite, kind and enthusiastic about my wedding day and I could not appreciate that more We especially loved the security guard at the gate, Bonnie, who was an absolute delight She was the perfect personality to greet guests when they arrivedThe food was amazing! All of our guests were raving about the food from the dinner, to the salad, to the appetizers to the late night bites We got SO many compliments on the food The serving staff was so helpful and always ready to lend a hand, with a smile on their facesQ Center has so much to offer that the average wedding venue does not I have no regrets about have our wedding here I could not recommend this more highly to any potential couples who looking for a wedding venue Q Center will make all of your wedding dreams come true, with top notch service and a smile to accompany you throughout your wedding journeyThank you, Q Center, it was absolutely epic!

I stayed here for a school related review course This is a compound basically that probably used to be a college of some sort Now it’s rented by universities and corporations for events

While the room was a little small, the bed was comfortable I’ve paid more for worse There’s an on-site gym and a bar For the convenience of staying where my review was and not having to travel from another location, and dinner was included (cafeteria-like), worth the stay all day Would highly recommend

Patty Brummond

If I could add more stars I would! We held our son’s wedding here this past weekend and things could not have gone better The food and beverage staff was outstanding The facilities are clean and well maintained

Even when the weather forced a change in plans, the staff was ready to accommodate the Plan B with ease It was a memorable weekend and we are so grateful to the Q Center!

I never trust a hotel where you need to pick up a phone, on the front door, and announce your arrival Nor, do I trust a hotel where I can’t understand what the front desk is trying to convey to meI’ve stayed here in the past, and it’s gone down hill a lot

Stillit was priced well You can tell that no expense has been put into the upkeepRoom was decent Clean Roomy Bed was SUPER soft When I sat on it, I thought it was going to engulf me They really need to install grab bars on the tub/showers, as there is nothing to hold onto Toilet/shower area is small They seem to cater to families, so expect to hear kids screaming in the hallways Overallit was okay

Nathan M

Housekeeping does a “what they have to, to get by” job So much is out of date and/or in poor repair (the elevator, out of order – the “fitness room”, entirely out of order – the pool, all closed up) My remote control was tied together with a shoelace The beds were comfortable, and the bedding clean

The breakfast was decent, for a free breakfast This place is 1/3 or less the price of any of the nicer hotels in the greater Chicago area If you can overlook all the rest, its not horrible I’d stay here again for the cost savings, but nothing else

Rachel Holst

I read reviews before staying here, there was a lot of reviews about the lack of cleanliness but you never know if there’s a change in staff or what not so I stayed there this past weekend I had two rooms and both were quite gross, stains all over the floor, jelly beans and other miscellaneous items were scattered throughout the room, and there was stains on the bedding We were originally on the first floor, the windows do not have screens and do not lock, being young women I didn’t feel comfortable staying in a room anyone could open the window to and crawl into the room so I asked to move rooms to an upper level (windows still didn’t lock but way less chance of someone breaking into the room through a window on a higher story) the rooms were still equally gross but safer in my opinion

The sink had a leak and the staff was aware previous to us staying in that room but didnt tell us Wouldn’t stay here again and don’t recommend it to anyone

This place is run very very well My first encounter was with Debra, who was extremely polite and very helpful Then when I checked in, she bent over backwards to accommodate us in every way

She’s been consistently pleasant, and goes the extra mile Everyone has been great Darryl always checks up on us, as does Marco, and Keith is a fantastic general managerThis stay has been a very pleasant surprise because of the very efficient way that it’s runRecommend

The price is affordable for short and long term stays The staff there are very friendly and super helpful Monica is one of the best staff at the hotel

She’s made me and my husband feel more than welcome and comfortable during our 3 week stay The housekeeping doesn’t always keep up with exchanging towels, supplying toilet paper and giving fresh bed sheets but every time Monica was on shift she always checked and made sure that everything was satisfactory and our needs and wants were met Thank you for the wonderful stay

Fairly nice hotel My wife is a housekeeper, so it was definitely “DIRTY” according to her, but when hotel staff are only given 15 minutes to flip a room, what can you expect Sheets were clean

down to the mattress pad (yes, she checked)There were a LOT of kids at the hotel the weekend we stayed so the pool was overflowing It was quiet at night thoughBreakfast is hot as others have said and plenty to choose from, but the floors are in need of a sweep as others have saidOur floors had been replaced with laminate, so less concern of bugsFor $100 on a Saturday night on St Patrick’s Day WeekendI suppose it was pretty good

Barb Price

Fantastic service, excellent rate A bed so comfortable I don’t want to get out of it Absolutely spotless room

So glad to find this place after dealing with another Choice Hotel that I would NOT recommend–the Comfort Inn on Barrington at Hoffman EstatesEdit: Just had their wonderful breakfast that is included in room rate Waffle station, cold cereal, scrambled eggs, link sausage, fruit, toast, coffee, juice, and more–all done rightAnd the bathtub is fantastic for soaking They have a pool and hot tub here, but I won’t have time to try those

Michelle Howe

Avoid at all costs Yes, it’s in a convenient location, but it is dirty I’m also sensitive to humidity, and it was VERY humid in the lobby and the room

We ran the air for three hours and the room was still too warm The maintenance guy was less than helpful We ended up spending just $25 more per night to stay at a much nicer place 10 minutes away

The staff is really really kind, but this place is an absolute dump Our room had a wet spot on the carpet that kept growing, now our second room has one too The shower floor is completely level w the bathroom floor, so anytime you try to shower the floor turns into a pond

I understand that it’s cheap to stay here, but there’s no reason BOTH rooms we were given should have a growing wet spot on the floor

Jordan Beard

Was here for a convention so the price and location was very appealing At first was a little concerned, the first room they tried to put us in had a broken door lock and we couldn’t get in at all But they took care of us and got us in another room with a fully working door no problem

The only other issue we had was that hot water would run out pretty fast during peak hours of morning and evening But the room was nice and clean, no real issues Staff was great and quick to offer to help with anything The only other gripe is something that we knew in advance, there’s no hot tub at this hotel and I think next year we will look for one that has a hot tub we can use I would stay here again, good price for the room you get overall

A lot of people complain about this place but my stay there was just fine Staff friendly, it did smell of food a lot but who the he’ll complains about the smell of curry anyways?! Rooms were decent Don’t turn the fridges passed 1 or everything will freeze

It’s a short walk to the convention center Price was great Nothing bad to say I experienced non of the issues others say they experienced
