We stayed here while visiting Portsmouth I love the vintage inspired decor that gives a nod to the motor inn legacy of Howard Johnson The rooms were clean, good size, reasonably priced

There was a microwave and mini fridge There is coin laundry downstairs Nothing special, but a decently priced no frills hotel in a convenient location

Kurt Lambert

You can definitely do better than this hotel Air conditioning unit sounded like a jet engine when it was running They said they might be able to move us if a room opened up

The breakfast is a weak selection of yogurt, oatmeal, and juice Frozen breakfast “hot pocket” has to be obtained from the front deskif you can find them when you want to eat We will not be returning

5-Stars for staff friendliness3-Stars for quality of breakfast5-Stars for room cleanliness — clearly the room has been updated

it was clean and very usable!5-Stars for privacy — the cabin/bldg we stayed in was physically separate from others with space between buildings — this added to sound isolation sweet!Bonus points for handicap access — not sure why there was a fan mounted on the wall aimed at the bed, since the room had its own air conditioning unit but it had a string to operate it so it could be operated from low — I’m guessing for handicap accessibility nice touch! So why the 2-stars overall? We put highest weight on a good night’s sleep when we travel And sadly, we didn’t get that1-Star bed comfort — although the bed was very nicely made up, it was *horribly* springy and the mattress felt very very old We both woke up with pains in our lower backs, something I haven’t felt since our own mattresses had once aged and stopped providing any reasonable support2-Star darkness — although the rear window had a blackout shade, the front-facing one only had blinds and thin sheer — light from outside illuminated the room through the night, noticeably brighter in the morning too The room needs a blackout shade in front2-star smell — although the room appeared *very* clean (excellent!), it smelled musty nonetheless I don’t know what can be done about that, but we both noticed it immediately upon enteringSo there it is — I’d love to have given it an overall higher rating, but with such a poor night’s sleep we just couldn’t do so Probably more like a 25 out of 5, but that isn’t an option here

Michael

Lovely, homey, comfortable small town motel with friendly staff at better than average prices Nicely appointed rooms with heat, A/C, two TV’s, fan, toaster oven, microwave, stove top, and fridge plus cookware and utensils Great for overnight or longer stays

Breakfast was definitely more than Continental and quite tasty! Included in price Stayed there to see Adam Hawley at the Jimmy’s Jazz club in nearby Portsmouth Would go back Highly recommended

Ended up at Hampton Inn Kittery for over 3-weeks on business While hotels are typically not ideal long-term, I could have asked for a better experience Location is perfect, within walking distance of the Outlet Mall, eateries, the highway

The shipyard and downtown Portsmouth are minutes away The staff is amazing—friendly and professional The pool and state of the art fitness center are a bonus Decent continental breakfast Hot and cold options Nice sized rooms with desk and small kitchen area (minus a stove)

Kris Tangen

For the cost of the room I felt like the Hampton Inn Kittery was good value! The good: the bed was comfortable, the cost of the room wasn’t bad for a king suite (under 200 a night), the hotel provides a free breakfast every morning which had a lot of unique options it wasn’t a continental it was an actual breakfast and the quality of the food wasn’t awful which you kind of expect it to be for a free breakfast, the location of the hotel was perfect for the beach, for visiting Portsmouth, for visiting York, etc the staff were friendly, helpful, and did an excellent jobThe less than stellar: the room smelled like mildew, the bathroom toilet did not flush fully so you had to flush twice regardless of what was occupying the bowl The pool smelled of mildew

We were walked in on by cleaning staff who thought the room was empty which I don’t hold against the cleaning staff but I was worried that they ended our reservation early because the staff only clean by request or when your room is emptyOverall I would recommend this place if you’re in Maine looking for a good location and good value, not without its faults but for the cost it got the job done!

I have worked in the hospitality industry for decades and seen it all when staying at hotels Seriously, I have many stories, but I have to say my stay at the Kittery Hampton Inn & Suites was beyond exceptional What made it so great? The General Manager, Reid, and the AGM, Justin

Both gentleman went out of their way to make my 2-week stay pleasurable They greeted me each morning by name and always asked if I needed anything Even the housekeeper asked to carry my breakfast try to my room one morning Seriously nice people who strive to accommodate! The hotel is immaculate, the location is in walking distance to restaurants & shopping, and the breakfast (which is include) was unique and delightful They also have a huge front lawn to walk your dog The management at this property definitely goes the extra mile, so many thanks This was my first stay at this property- but whenever I am in the area it will be my hotel of choice Hats off the Reid & Justin!!

Hotel wasn’t so bad somewhat clean besides the cobwebs and dead bugs under the bed just lack of housekeeping I suppose or needs a spring cleaning I feel bad for a girl that was there I feel like they targeted her or two young kids that lived above her that she knew one of them got arrested so they asked her to leave I’m claiming that she had lots of traffic and if they did pay attention then realized they were three other rooms selling narcotics there is a brother inappropriate maintenance man I believe have quite a rude mouth on me has a black beard as they sit out back of the house and smoke marijuana I understand it’s legal now in the state of Maine but that doesn’t mean it’s right to smoke all day and push on the guest at this fine establishment I stayed here last year for almost a month and it was beautiful peaceful it was nice I think it’s time that the owners hire new management I used to come here with my grandmother everyday she used to do housekeeping and laundry for 15 years or so this place is wonderful I loved it and unfortunately some of the employees has brought this place down a few notches maybe they just need to get a wake-up call about things that aren’t getting done like the rum I’m in has no cold water in the sink or in the shower the heater does not go above 64 degrees which is okay please don’t read my review and run away this place was a wonderful place I hope when I come back next year to visit with my grandmother things are back to how they used to be it was a shame to see how much this place at Bonaparte and just a year I will be back though I hope this is red as positive criticism indeed Rome will just be gone through as well as employees shall be spoken with about taking pride in their job I know there’s plenty of people looking for work if you don’t like your job go somewhere else correct or incorrect

Even though we were in kinda dead season it was just great! We enjoyed the ocean view king room, comfortable bed, the indoor pool was so much fun, cleanliness is number one for me and the room was very cleanChecking in and out was very easy If you visit there, have breakfast in The stonewall kitchen and dinner in Lobster clove by the ocean

We tried surf and turf and didn’t like it muchWe would definitely go back again!

Stephanie C

We have stayed here a couple times now and love it The check in is super easy Staff is very helpful and they even have a texting feature so if there’s anything you need you can text them

They were very responsive when asked for additional items like a shampoo and even when asking for recommendations on a pizza place nearby The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean The pool and hot tubs are very well maintained and we routinely saw them taking samples of the water to make sure it was clean and safe You can’t beat the location just steps from the beach Such a beautiful place We feel that when you factor in the cost of parking and added gas and traffic you can’t beat staying here I highly recommend staying here

Narissa Liptak

Considering we went and purposely stayed during a blizzard, we had a lot of fun Our suite was nice and roomy for the 3 of us Could have had 4 no problem

Parking under the building during the storm was very nice The walk to the pool, not so much, lol The staff was all super friendly and informative Apart from the handful of goldfish crackers we found in our pull out sofa bed and the used tissue behind it, we will definitely go back Have to figure out when to book to get that amazing view in mid-July

My wife and I just stayed for the first time for our anniversary weekend We were on the 3rd floor It truly was an ocean view

Beautiful private deck The room was just right Basic amenities and very clean If you’re expecting a huge television, living room furniture, or full kitchen, you may be disappointed We had a king size bed that was very comfortable The kitchenette was nice Besides, if you’re that close to the ocean, you don’t need all the frills in the room We were out every day except to sit on the deck at night and to sleep The only thing that would have made it easier is if there was an elevator The staff was extremely friendly and helpful We’ll definitely be back again!

Nice hotel They said my room would be ready at 3:30 but it was not at 3:45 The light in the room is sparse

The shower is really nice The room fridge and microwave are very nice Larger than I expected Lobby is comfortable and nicely decorated Staff is pleasant and helpful Location is good but shuttle service was a bit slow Hallway noise late at night woke me but it was not loud nor prolonged

Samuel Conner

I travel for work and am cooped up in hotels 90% of the year This hotel refused to clean my room, and then when they finally did they wouldn’t change bedding I had been staying here for over 3 weeks and refused to change bedding

After longer talks they finally came and changed bedding As a diamond member this should’ve been addressed and never occur again However, this is the second Marriott in 2 months that refused to clean rooms Some say it is because of extended stays Last Marriott was only a week stay and refused to Clean Here at this Marriott, I am staying for 2 months and they won’t Clean more than once a week That would be fine if they changed bedding but I had to specifically ask for new bedding as it wasn’t changed Very frustrating to be living on the road and dealing with this Am I not paying a new room price everyday? Why has cleaning been restricted to once a week? Shouldn’t it be every day cleaned if I am paying the same price everyday? Isn’t that in the agreement or something? Very upset from my stay here

Deon Caine

At check in, first thing that was said “we don’t service the rooms every day You will be here 5 nights so you get 1 service day” Really? I’m paying up to $400 per night and you can’t even service the room? You had to pay for breakfast

Prices were crazy high $11 for a breakfast burrito? $3 for a soda out of the machine I will not be back, in fact this place pushed me to find a different brand other than Marriott They try to squeeze every penny out of you even though you pay through the nose for their rooms

Everything was good My only issues were 1) the hotelscom listing was wrong about everything (check out time plus there is no pool here), and the maid was rude when I was on my way out the door at 11:03 (check out is 11:00, she didn’t care that my confirmation email said 12:00)

Pretty much the only hotel is Durham, though, so not horribly priced considered they effectively have a monopoly

Sarah Landgraf

The front desk staff charged my credit card while I was filling out a form that they asked me to fill out with my car information When I turned around the guy was swiping my credit card through the machine without even so much as asking me or informing that they were charging me for the entire cost of the room after it was booked (and presumably paid for) under my mothers name/ her card!! When I inquired if they had simply run the card for incidentals, they informed me they had run the card for the entire cost of the room Since it was my understanding the room was already paid for, they informed me that they only could have run the card that was used at booking with written authorization from the cardholder which they offered to email my mother

I have never run across this policy prior to this and I am definitely not impressed with this experience Perhaps, it is purely out of principal that you inform the customer of the charge prior to running their card In conclusion, customer service here is shameful and to future customers: don’t give them your credit card without knowing what they will charge to it when they swipe it through the card reader behind your back

We came down from Maine for high tea, and our meal was *completely* worth the drive We placed a reservation on Open Table, which I’m glad we did, as the tea parlor was busy even in the off-season The food, tea, service, and atmosphere were all just exemplary

The building is an immaculately maintained historical house full of beautiful details, fixtures, and furniture from the past Cindy made our celebration very special We highly recommend Silver Fountain for dining

Charlie Zizza

This is a beautiful and historic place to stay I spent a lot of time just looking around and enjoying the details Each room is decorated in it own style which I appreciate

The breakfast and tea are great and the owners are friendly and clearly care a lot about the place Dover is a fantastic town with a lot to do for its size (restaurants, bars, shops, history, etc) and the downtown is easily walkable from Silver Fountain Inn

Tracey Downs

We went to the Silver Fountain Inn for our first murder mystery experience We had a group of 13 people, ranging in age from 21 to 78, and EVERYONE had a blast!!! The Inn is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms were all so unique and cozy and the food was delish! Pam and Jim, the owners; went out of there way to make sure everyone had a great time We all cannot wait to go back

I highly recommend staying here for any reason, not just for the murder mystery weekendBut if that’s your thing … then suspense and drama await you 😁 !

I stayed at the Garrison for 8 days for work From Jamie and her colleagues at the front desk, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, to the amazing landscaper I never met but whose beautiful flowers, lively bird-feeders, and hotel-replica handmade birdhouse I admire, this place was a perfect place to spend the week for work In spite of the hotel apparently being totally full while I was there, and also serving canine guests, my room was **so quiet**

It was amazing liked it so much I’ll be stopping there next weekend (assuming I can get a room for us) on our family road trip next weekend

Angel Earth

This is a nice hotel located right next to/behind Dunkin Donuts and CVS I had the ‘Efficiency Room’ with a King size bed It was a quite and pleasant stay for me which is what I wanted

I gave 4 stars due to there being a narrow shower stall instead of a bathtub and also that the bed was a bit too soft as it felt like your back is sinking into the bed Otherwise, they have good amenities, a decent breakfast and is in a convenient location

Rachel Hansen

I would give this review a negative 5 if I could We booked a room and then canceled it immediately We were charged almost $400 for a “no show

” When we called they refused to give us a refund and told us, “they could have sold the room 20 times over that night” and “it wasn’t there issue” Now when we try to call they screen our phone calls and do not answer The one time I got through and spoke to Kathy, she told me that the hotel manager Tanya wasn’t available and that she would call me back Of course, Tanya never called back When I asked when she would be available Kathy said, “Oh you know, it is just so hard to tell with her I don’t know” Clearly they are avoiding us So very difficult to give a review on a hotel room that we never actually stayed in and were charged full price EXTREMELY disappointed in their customer service When I tried to explain our situation, it was clear they had zero empathy They are just a money hungry company who can care less about their customers

Pool was clean The grounds were nicely kept with beautiful flowers I loved the 24 hour coffee bar I wish they had iced water provided there though The breakfast spoiled us It was great everyday and I’m going to miss having a hot breakfast just down the hall Definitely a nice hotel and I recommend it

Zack Dresser

Pleased with accommodations and friendly staff Location is close to many restaurants/stores/coffee shops which was nice I accidentally left my headphone case in my room when I checked out and called and talked to Summer about it

They were really kind and helpful in looking for my lost item They found them and promptly mailed them back to me at home I am so appreciative for this hotel’s help!

Lana McEachnie

Everything else was great but I’m all about the cleanliness of the bathroom We were in room 208 and I couldn’t shower before leaving this morning because the shower had so much mold I took pictures

Also, we were awakened at 4am by a loud pinging noise – I think from someone above us showering I took a video It came from in the walls and stopped when the shower was done Do better Hampton Inn!! Edited to say: Regarding your response, I’m confused as to why you’re asking me to spend more of my time to reach out to you again The pictures show the problem, the room number – I would hope you’ve already sent someone in to fix this Have a good day

A unique experience in this out-of-the-way hotel While everything on the surface seemed to be good, there were a few notable, interesting things The staff and service seem to be top notch

The continental breakfast was as you would expect it to be, small items to eat, without much fanfare The thing that got us was the fact that when we entered our suite, we were greeted with a heavily stained carpet Seeing as we were not at the beach, or someplace where this would be normal, it threw red flags as to how the room would be But the room turned out to be pretty fantastic With separate bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, it was perfect for our large family The only other semi-complaint would be the inundating smell of chlorine bleach when you first enter the main lobby (not a bad thing, per se, since it denotes cleanliness) But the lack of other smells commonly associated with hotels nowadays (weed, mold, mildew, etc) was a pleasant surprise The elevator was a bit rickety, especially for family members that have phobias in them But the rate of speed was highly-respectable The flow of water to the showers was great, but the temperature could use tweaking on the fourth floor The staff were ubër-friendly, including a kind woman at the breakfast offering chocolate chips for our waffles, or the front desk woman who was kind to greet us when we would come downstairs The breakfast area was very clean and tidy; well-maintained But that stain remained the downfall of the adventure for my wife and daughter I would give it a solid 47 stars, but cannot go the full 5, although I gave it 5 for the overall (Also, a HUGE bonus was being right next to a Mexican restaurant — Margaritas — with easy access to and from, but that’s not really a thing to hitch or kick a review)

Quaint, old guesthouse Definitely a viable option for your hotel dollars over the chains They weren’t really sweet up for business travelers though as the desk is not continually manned and breakfast doesn’t start until 8

My room was large and clean, albeit with a very small showerRecommended

I have only eaten once there and that was for Thanksgiving The table decor was interesting and they used real acorns in their decorations I had to keep my very young son from playing with them

The food was good This was years agoI visited during the free 🆓 comic book day that was happening across the state I ran into an old friend and we got caught up on events The room for the convention, that Jetpack Comics Ralph DiBenardo was in charge of, seemed a little small, but, the outside was also being used as well Nice looking garden Decent amount of parking 🅿️Good place to rent space for a medium to large gathering
