The Capital Hills Flats studio I had was great and perfect for what I needed on my first trip to DCRoom: The studio was clean, modern and included a very comfortable bed, a kitchenette, plenty closet space, good sized bathroom with tub, and a nice writing desk that viewed the cute neighborhood The kitchenette included dishes, silverware, a Kuereg coffee machine, etc

Location: The flat was walking distance from the Capitol and National Mall Everyday of my stay I was easily able to walk to all the different museums, memorials and monuments Also, it is not far from Trader Joe’s or CVS if you need to pick up some snacks or maybe thing you may have forgotten or need On the way there, you can pass by other local shops and boutiquesOther Accommodations: Laundry machines and detergent are available for use in the basement This was very convienient, especially for those that don’t want to pack a lot of clothes Your own hamper was provided as well in your roomLastly, the staff was very accommodating and was willing to assist me in any questions or requests I hadTo conclude, I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit DC

It’s currently housing as a shelter we all know I am currently homeless so this place is housing me until I can get placed with my voucher The shelter staff aren’t as snobbish as regular shelter staff, but they still have their own personal attitudes Overall this is a nice hotel really clean smells decent and it’s a nice size and location

This hotel is very convenient in location, 20 minute drive away from the capital of Washington! However, I do not recommend walking around the area if you are not familiar with it Staff was helpful and friendly The complimentary breakfast consisted of fresh cut fruit, oatmeal, bread-based, etc always tasted great

Rooms were clean and the house keeping always provided us with fresh towels My only complaint was about one staff member, very nice guy, but he got too comfortable and approached my partner and I about “going to his house” and “checking out local strip clubs” Very unprofessional conversation

Matthew Schneider

Terrible No water in the gym No towels there

Machines covered in sweat Went to wash my hands in the first floor men’s room and the soap dispenser doesn’t work If you’re driving – forget it The access is impossible I only stay at Marriott properties and have a decent status, and this is the worst I’ve visited Stay away despite it being low cost Nice friendly staff but the place is literally dirty The surrounding area looks quite dangerous and despite location on what looks to be a park, I would not go running there

This is probably one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in DC The staff are super nice and welcoming, always making sure your visit and stay is enjoyable and going out of their way to make you feel welcomed All the ladies working here are angels

I was scheduled to arrive late at night, and Jessica waited for me and checked me in when I arrived at night The hostel is in a very nice neighborhood (Capitol Hill) Although it’s not close to the tourist sites, the Metro is 2 blocks away, you’re right by a grocery store (Trader Joes), and surrounded by great bars and restaurants The wifi worked on all the floors (no spotty signal, it was strong on all 3 floors!) and rooms were super cool (a respite from the scorching DC heat) The rooftop patio was nice, and the outdoor patio Delicious chocolate chip pancakes were served every morning, with coffee TV had majority of the streaming services on it to keep you occupied, lounge on the 3rd floor had books and 2 computers The only complaint I have is that the bathrooms are kinda in a very awkward spot (located smack dab in the living room) Anyone can see and hear you walk to and from the bathroom (and what you do inside), and when you walk out, the whole living room can see The men’s showers are also next to the living room/kitchen, and anyone walking by the kitchen can see everything going on in the showers, making it slightly uncomfortable Rooms were a bit cramped and small But overall, the hostel was very clean and modern

Honest review If you value security find another hostelThere was definitely some positives The staff were amazing, and the beds were fairly comfy

That’s about where the positives ended unfortunatly for meI was unable to feel secure inside the hostel The outer front doors stay unlocked the whole time, and the front doors, while locked have a hole in the middle for sliding documents through, that could fit a small arm and someone could easily just open the door from inside The rooms themselves have zero locks on them (completely unacceptable in my opinion) They do have lockers, but they are all on the second floor (dorms on all 3 floor) and definitely not big enough to fit a larger backpack, and not enough for every guest, so there is a chance you won’t get a locker and have to leave your stuff in an unlocked roomThe rooms were too small, with barely any room between the beds You will feel like a sardine can in the rooms, and I have zero idea how it passed fire code inspectionThe men’s shower area has no lock on the door and it’s just off of the kitchen I’d hate someone to be eating and get an eyeful they don’t want to see while eating When I was there only one overhead light in the bathroom was working, the other was flickering, generally meaning electrical problems, and apparently it had been like this for a few days There is rust all around the base of the bathroom light fixtures, meaning they aren’t meant to be used in a moisture rich environmentAll in all, would NEVER stay here again, or reccomend to anyone unless you are in a real pinch Even then sleep with all your important stuff basically attached to you so you can feel secureUnacceptable for the price I paid for the hostel I did not feel safe or overly comfortableBut as I said, with all that, the staff truly are wonderful! They are super helpful and accommodating and great fun to hang around

Let’s get the issues out of the way This place is old and provides very basic amenities The rooms are small and hard to clean, the window a/c is noisy, and the room floor and outside stairs are creaky

Every morning we would wake up to the strong smells wafting up from kitchen (we were on the second floor, mind you) Finally, the place is 8 minutes walk away from the nearest metro station, and pretty far from the main points of interest When you do it twice every day, it becomes a lotSo I would have given this place one or two stars, but The owner, Jack, is such an amazing host, that the entire experience was greatly improved He really makes you feel at home He also offers a nice breakfast buffet, as well as hot drinks 24 hours a day Everybody who stayed there was super nice and friendly When we left, Jack told us “This is your home”, which summed up the entire experience

Booked this place at least a month ago Got an email confirmation 9/14/21 for my stay 10/5/21-10/6/21 When I arrived, the place looked slightly unkempt

The door was cracked open so I entered People’s personal items were all over the place and Room 101’s door was completely open (immediately to right of front door) I only entered to the office space, and felt uncomfortable, so I exited The front door shut and locked behind me I used the doorbell and got no answer I tried calling all available numbers Most were disconnected Hopefully I’m not charged for a stay

I stayed here for a week on a school trip and it was great Our group was well accommodated, and the staff were all very helpful The rooms were really nice and clean, and there was a whole kitchenette and a balcony

It was also within walking distance of a lot of other cool destinations I had a great time at this hotel and I would definitely recommend

I reserved a hotel room for my fiance’s birthday We had a very pleasant stay The staff greeted us warmly and were very accommodating

They even upgraded our room for free! The room was very spacious, like a 1 bedroom apartment, with an attached balcony There was a decently stocked kitchen attached This is a pet friendly hotel, and a dog bed and bowls were provided at no additional charge The gentleman at the front desk even offered to walk our puppy for us There is a hospital close by, and the noises that come with that, and just DC noise in general, but they offer ear plugs, sleep masks and white noise machines The bed was comfortable Wifi was complimentary (a bit slow at times tho) Overall, I would stay here again

Me (in a pouty voice):“Dear Abba/Adonai/Allāh, will You please take me on vacation soon? I’m trying to tell people about you by doing as many good deeds as possible and it’s very hard, much harder than I imagined, so may I please have a break?”Soon after that prayer, my biological mother, Mother Teresa, gifted me with a 3-day/2-night stay here to be enjoyed with my Teddy Bear godmother, ShelleyIf you or someone you know needs a place to rest and heal, please be a patron If you need to accomplish some good deeds, I highly recommend you gifting a stay to someone who’s really struggling

I imagine that, similar to me, after the stay, they’ll finally be able to respond with “happy” when asked “How are you?”

Great local escape! An on site Inn Keeper who was attentive and helpful with ideas for us At first, I was a bit disappointed because I requested certain amenities initially, like parking because they said there was no record yet on the site I requested 2 spots and I had talked with someone by email who confirmed my reservation and who had asked me about anything else I needed I told them I only needed 1 space instead of 2 and I wanted to add something else but they never responded back

So when I got there I had no parking That worked out though because we were able to park on the street directly in front Kim, the Inn Keeper, rectified the mix ups with the other services I requested She was very attentive and checked in on us often but not too much I liked the Inspiration Room because it was bright and spacious with a beautiful DC feel to the old style homeThe bathroom is way to small though for tall people like me But the claw foot tub in the room was great to soak in! The bed slept so comfortably, I want one of those!Breakfast was good and simple but home cooked! Loved that! It was also a time to meet with others who were also staying there The happy hour was also a great time to connect with others and we had a great time! There was a cute journal in the room where other guests had written about their experiencessuch a sentimental touch It was so quiet and serene you guys, and listen, I’m going back as soon as I can

Joseph

Black-owned and historically significant for the inquiring mind The stay was fine and the customer service is solidI will add that if you’re looking for a rich experience, this can offer something close to that

Simply put: In this place, humans treat humans like humans

One of the best Inns in the area! The house was built in 1890s, it is well kept in original American style and it is absolutely gorgeous The family keeping the place is very kind and welcoming, and they even have a gigantic cat who loves to be pet The price is great, especially considering the breakfast included

It was a nice little quaint place away from the DC hustle and craziness This hostel is like a little home, not too many people so it’s easy to meet everyone staying there and get together It’s right across the street from the free transit line to Union Station which can take you to the rest of DC

It’s very secure and the staff is great The breakfast is easy and perfect for people on the go I enjoyed my time there and will definitely try again

Kevin Levesque

Not a bad place for the money The bed was comfortable They have 2 parking spaces that can be reserved

On street parking is free and plentiful Depending on where you park you may need to move your car The Bennett Rd parking spaces become a travel lane during the evening commute There is 1 male/female bathroom on the 2nd floor Sometimes the line is 3 people deep Women have the option to use the female only bathroom on the first floor A bus stop and a free trolley are about a 1 minute walk from the hostel Breakfast was corn flakes and milk The staff and guests were friendly

Daniel Gonçalves

A LOT of work to be done at this Hostel While the staff was friendly and helpful, the absence of amenities like a stove are key to have a successful hostel The A/C was hardly working either

There’s a code to enter the property and all the rooms do not have a key or access code There were several instances where other guests would enter my room by mistake The upstairs rooms, there was only one bathroom and sometimes I would have to wait for half an hour to use the restroom As a regular hostel attendee, I’ve never seen locals using an hostel but whilst I stayed there, my room was regularly frequented by locals To get around the city, there’s a free tram that takes you directly to the Union Station but I didn’t feel safe to walk at night in that part of town Although Comfort Zone has the best rates as a hotel in the city, do yourself a favor and get a hostel elsewhere

I had high hopes for the property based on reviews on my booking site but the experience was below average for me The room would have been comfortable if it didn’t smell like smoke the entire stay We asked the night we checked in if they could do something about it and instead of moving us they used a bunch of Febreze

That created a masked smoke smell for the first two nights that was tolerable but it seems like the smoke came back up into the room the third night, I assume from a different room The whole floor was non-smoking but that didn’t seem to help The bathroom was pretty run down and the breakfast is really a joke There were enough problems that it seems like management is just trying to hold onto the smoking crowd and riding that wave of customers

Wow FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND OTHERS DO NOT BOOK AT THIS LOCATION!! this is the worst sleep inn ever i would never consider this location especially if you are black the staff called 3 police officers on me and my girl and lied to the police told them that it was four people in our car and that we were checking car doors in the lot We was booking a room online from our car when three Police cars approached us telling us what the front desk said , so MANGERS AND CORPORATE WILL BE CALLED TMRW!!!!!!
