Great hotel, even better staff and owners It has a nice indoor pool and is down the strip a ways which makes it more quiet and good for families/relaxing The staff takes awesome care of the rooms, and everything seems to be freshly updated

Doesn’t have all the frills in the world but it is exactly what we needed for a relaxing weekend

Jen Carlow

The rooms are quite basic, the beds we had pulled out from the wall and were very very hard and uncomfy Slightly datedrooms are across the street from parking lot

Had a coffee maker in room People were nice, the best location! Affordable The pool looks really nice however didn’t get to use Overall a good Affordable stay but I would bring a mattress topper and your own pillows

Leslie Snow

Was pleasantly surprised to see how close we were to the beach! The room was very clean and comfortable A few things that might need a mention The pots and pans were in rough shape and need to be replaced

A set of oven mitts for the kitchen would be good The only thing that was a negative is the bright walk lights right outside our room Maybe light blocking curtains is a good idea We loved our stay there The pool was clean and the staff wonderful Will definitely be back this fall Had a great stay

My husband and I had stayed at this hotel earlier in the year when we were house-hunting in the area We were up from New Jersey and the location was ideal and convenient We met Patrick during our first stay and he showered us with excitement as we exchanged stories and laughs

We recently were up for a last-minute one-night stay and Patrick couldn’t be more accommodating He graciously provided us with anything we needed during our stay, but his bright personality and genuine love for life will keep us coming back and continue recommending this hotel for our family and friends We look forward to stays here in the future and enjoying breakfast & coffee with the one and only Patrick

I have the company pay for the hotel here because the rooms cost more than the perdium I receive, so when I checked in for 10 days they asked me for a card for incidentals $50 I’m fine with that, lots of hotels do that, but not here, they charged over $190000 on my personal debit card

Then they keep a hold on it for who knows how long, I told them 7-10 days is unacceptable This all just happened on Monday and it’s now Wednesday and it’s still on hold So resist giving them a card if possible Another thing that is very disappointing is the fact they don’t even offer free coffee anymore No continental breakfast But there’s a plus you can spend your money at the bistro, In other words, this stay has been very disappointing I don’t think that all the staff is incompetent maybe just one? But the rooms are nice, comfortable beds, & the bistro guy was very friendly

This was a great place to stay! The location was great for our visit; we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go The rooms were really nicely furnished and clean The employees were really friendly and helpful

Our view was great We got breakfast from the restaurant and ordered off the menu instead of getting the buffet, which I think was the right move The food was great!Overall I highly recommend this hotel

Stephanie Z

We recently have stayed at several Holiday Inns and I have to say, this one was very nice Recently renovated rooms (although our bathroom was quite small and tub outdated, but clean), friendly front desk staff, and the shuttle driver offered to drop us off or pick up from downtown if we wanted Parking was on-site and convenient (spaces are tight but what one would expect for a parking garage)and the location made it easy to walk downtown

I recommend booking a room with a view of the bay Great views!

Robin Field

Overall had a pretty good stay at this hotel The staff I interacted with were all very personable and nice, and went out of the way to make sure you felt safe or helped you if you needed something The room I stayed in was very clean, and stocked with supplies as well

The pool area was also very well kept The breakfast in the Port of Call was also inexpensive and tasted good! The only things I can note as possible negatives are the ongoing construction they are doing between the hours of 9:30 AM to 5 PM, but if like me, you were here to vacation and explore, you most likely aren’t in the hotel for these hours where it would be an issue, but something that should be noted Due to this construction parking in the G2 level of the connected parking garage is very difficult, but there is another connected parking lot if that one is full/no spots are available Otherwise I have nothing but good to say, and recommend for an incoming traveler!

How anyone can give a review of over 2 is beyond me The ONLY POSITIVE here is the proximity to the beach THIS PLACE IS A DUMP! I am a reasonable person, place is sub par

Owners obviously don’t reinvest For 289 a night, I feel like Oliver Twist took my moneyFront desk staff, however is friendly and polite Housekeeping not so much Seek other accommodations Do you self a favor

Alyssa C

My father rented this hotel to come and visit us, he paid about $300 a night for a two bedroom which was really one with two full size beds The second I walked into the hotel I could immediately smell mold and another extremely bad smell Plus they charged me $20 to park in the parking lot across the street because I was an extra car that was visiting

Terrible parking in the hotel parking lot as well I do not recommend staying here at all The only plus is that it’s on the beach

We stayed in the motel itself just for one night and had a nice stay! It was cute and we had all the basic necessities I enjoyed the atmosphere and found it very relaxing and cozy We did not have any issues and I would definitely come back again if in the area

It is a great spot for a comfortable and affordable stay that is not far from the Portland airport

Madalyn Lejeune

Absolutely charming and interesting property and cottages with lots of beautiful plants, vegetation and trees We stayed in number 1 Even at night, there was cute lighting and we even spotted fireflies near the gazebo swing! The only downside for the price, was the bed

It was a bit hard & the middle sunken in a bit My back was a little mad at me for it The comforter also seemed dated and uncomfortable Otherwise, we had a lovely stay and even got the chance to enjoy the pool! Good for anyone looking for fun amenities and a good location!

Paul Logothetis

We stayed in Cottage 7, which was clean and orderly The A/C worked well and all of the fixtures were fine Nice play areas for the kids, including a swing set and a clean pool which is surrounded by bird houses and their inhabitants, so a nice bit of nature watching for youngsters

The only complaint would be the cabin was outdated and needs some love for the price, particularly the bathroom But for one night, it worked for us and staff was helpful

Had a great time here while visiting the city of Portland This hotel is dog friendly, just be sure to give the staff a heads up before you arrive The room had everything we needed to be comfortable

While the rooms do look like they could use an update, for the price I don’t mind dealing with older styled rooms Sometimes we could hear other guests in their room, but for the most part this was not an issueThe free breakfast was a great start to the day, it had hot foods and snacks you could take with you It is located right off the highway and it’s about an 8 minute drive to downtown Portland Staff were very polite and helpful

Maryann Lindquist

We had a lovely stay last weekend! From check-in to check-out, everything went great! Isabella, who works at the front desk, was very helpful and pleasant The room was quite clean, and the beds are extremely comfortable When I returned home, I noticed that I had left my book at the hotel

The manager went above and beyond the call of duty by mailing home to me, which I really appreciated! I would recommend this hotel!

Cassandra Rohacek

Property is clean and has a fantastic charmOverall, I had a great experience with the Merry Manor; staff was incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great The room was wonderful, clean, and perfect to celebrate a birthday weekend The best stay ever Both check-in and check-out were professionally handled and easy

The property is centrally located Easy to drive or walk into Portland or nearby dining options Plenty of free parking on-site

The breakfast has a good selection of the conventional stuff – waffles, cupcakes, bagels, muffins, cereal, boiled eggs, etc Hot beverages and cold water are available 24/7, which is a huge positiveGiven COVID-19 protocols, turn down service is only for guests who stay longer than five days However, you can always get fresh towels and linen Trash just needs to be kept out in the corridor and get new bags from the front desk/housekeeping cartThe rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfortable, the pillows not so much The also gave us a pretty good crib and our 11-month old slept well It is an old property but maintained well There was good water pressure in the shower The toiletries are also good and Made in USAThe staff are prompt and courteous

Stephanie Chase

Conveniently located near the center of town, which was handy since we were going to a show at the State Theater The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean I do have complaints thoughThe bathroom in the room was clean overall, other than the hair monster in the shower drain

Beds are a bit too solid The pillows were the worst I’ve ever used my entire life They kept getting really flat Even scrunching them up with my arms didn’t help They sounded like they had popped bubble wrap in them The continental breakfast had good choices for older people Need to have more options that appeal to teens and children, like pancakes, waffles, french toast, bacon, scrambled eggs Variety was pretty good otherwise Fitness center is nice as are the lobby and patio area Staff was helpful and friendly

Keith Lowe

They do not clean room’s daily and you have to leave trash and dirty towels in the hallway Rooms where clean, staff friendly and it is located within walking distance to the Seadogs ball park and to adult use dispensaries Denny’s is also within walking distance

Not a picturesque place but I was there for work I never got to try breakfast because we left before 6 am and breakfast wasn’t served till 6:30 Worth the price in my opinion

Like others have said, don’t read reviews prior to 2022 There is new management and the rooms have all been redone It’s a typical Maine motel, right on the beach

There is a small pool Everything was just as we expected It was a great stay We have kids (ages 4 and 7) They had a blast on the beach It’s northern Atlantic, so the water is cold It didn’t bother the kids, they swam all day The pool was a big hit It was cleaned everyday The rooms aren’t huge but again they were what we expected The room was very clean when we arrived The parking spaces are small but we were told this when I called to book the room I have a Chevy Traverse and had no issues parking The hotel is in walking distance to the pier (even with the 4 year old) We did some of the rides at the beach front amusement park Pirates Cove mini golf is also in walking distance Thursday nights the town does fireworks on the beach It was great! We could watch the fireworks from our room or on the deck The TV did not have a lot of channels but we didn’t go to watch TV We brought the kids tablets for them to walk their morning cartoons I would have liked more towel hooks in the room but I feel like everyplace I have ever stayed is cheap on towel hooks We would certainly stay here again

Kirsten DellaRocco

Do not read any review prior to 2022 My understanding is that this motel was purchased by the new owner in late 2021 My first stay here was early June 2022 and the rooms were all redone, the beds and pillows were comfortable and there is a table, microwave, coffee maker and refridgerator

The price is extremely reasonable for a motel with a pool and view of the ocean The ocean is steps away and the views are beautiful The owner and his girlfriend are super friendly as well Just a quick walk to the center of town to visit the pier, restaurants, stores, etc

Christine Festa

Stayed here for 5 nights this month with my husband and 2 daughters, 12 and 14 Room was decent size for us and the new ownership has done a wonderful job making it clean and comfortable The staff is very friendly, the pool was perfect temperature and clean

I loved being able to walk right onto the beach from the parking lot and also very close to the pier Keurig coffee maker in the room was a huge bonus for me We brought our hdmi cable with Roku to stream movies, etc that came in handy because the first day we arrived it was raining, however the rest of the week we were blessed with beautiful weather We had a great time and enjoyed our stay

I very much enjoyed my stay here The room was very clean and well maintained We were on the third floor and the stairs can be a trek, if you’re a smoker or like to go outside periodically just to sit, I would highly recommend you request a room on the ground floor

It has a nice little patio area in front to eat your breakfast and a small smoking area in the back Make sure that you book a room with a private bathroom unless you’re a family who intends to take up a whole floor The price was reasonable for the area about 249 per night

Lisa Yankee

This is my favorite hotel, maybe ever! A beautifully renovated building, maintaining the integrity and ambiance of its history Well appointed and decorated rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows, and amenities to meet all one’s needs make it a most pleasant stay Check-in was warm and welcoming while also efficient and informative

Breakfast had many delicious choices served in a simple and elegant manner This is a wonderful place to stay!

Mena

This hotel is extremely cute with so much character It felt like something out of a movie The free breakfast, cookies throughout the day, and coffee/tea were nice to have

My main issues with the hotel are the location isn’t ideal (about 25 min to Old Port), not all the rooms have a private bathroom in the room (mine was down the hall, others have to share), and the room itself was really tiny without even a closet For a solo traveler it is fine, but if you’re more than 1 person, get one of the bigger rooms with a private bathroom or look elsewhere

I cannot give this place more stars!! From the moment I got on the phone they were so helpful in finding us a room that suited our needs and even more Very clean and well kept rooms Spectacular view of the ocean with a great pool available as well

There is a cute little breakfast spot attached that I recommend as well This is definitely a place we will be coming back to visit

Rob Andrews

These are definitely two star rooms One air conditioner for a two bedroom suite that cost nearly $300 a night Yes the beach access is great but the entire hotel is dated

I don’t mind paying a premium price for a beachfront hotel but when it’s the middle of summer and you have busted controls on a air conditioner that is nowhere near large enough to cool the entire suite you’re overcharging for a barely comfortable room Would not stay here again

Ricky A

Great location, walking distance to several great beach bars and restaurants Multiple properties, stayed at the main location right on the beach 20 ft walk to the beach! Beach chairs available for rent, just need to make a deposit

Close to the pier, but far enough so you don’t get the noise Highly recommend for a week or weekend getaway

I cannot say enough things about how great our stay was here! The staff were amazing and willing to help with anything We tried to extend our stay and they were willing to do a room change so we could do so; unfortunately, we could not cancel our other reservation The staff took the time to talk to us every time they saw us and explained everything they could about the sights worth seeing

The room was perfect for the five of us; we booked the two bedroom apartment next to the office The beach was a short walk through the parking lot and the boardwalk was far enough away not to hear the noise, but not far enough to be too much to walk to The pool was heated to 80 degrees, which was a nice change from the cold ocean This will definitely be our spot when we visit Old Orchard and we cannot wait to return!

Tia Whitley

Beautiful and clean Bright rooms, nice floors, cute bathroom Lighting fixtures could be updatedWe had the room right at the top of the stairs and were worried how much foot traffic there would be, but we didn’t hear much and it didn’t bother us

Parking spaces were small, so SUVs should be parked closest to the beachPool was nice and seating was good Beach was secluded in this area which was also greatLoved the vines and bushes that surrounded this hotel, giving it some feeling of privacy in a busy area

Emily Perez-Irizarry

What an exceptional motel!!! Super clean, comfy kitchenette room!!! Our stay was lovely! (mom & 3 teen girls) We went out of season but enjoyed every second there!!! We cooked dinner in the room (chicken rice soup on a rainy evening, another night fried pork chops and Spanish rice) We watched movies while eating popcorn, we made banana pudding We went on sunset walks by the beach, flew kites, collected seashells

The girls enjoyed having their bikes and riding around town So close to Portland, we got a lot of outside activities done the one week we stayed there Looking forward to visit during the summer!

I am a traveling nurse During my stays, the hotel was clean and quiet I love the little kitchen

It is well stocked with kitchen items you need They even have a hot plate you can use The bed is comfortable I check in and out online and use the digital key so have not dealt with the front desk staff so I won’t comment on that One weekend I forgot my sound machine (I work nights) It’s so quiet, I didn’t miss the white noise at all I highly recommend this home away from home to my fellow traveling nurses! I won’t stay anywhere else

Randy K

Everything was clean Room was modern and had everything I would need for my stay Breakfast was typical for this chain, workout room had enough for a light workout

Has laundry machines on site but I did not need to use on this stay Staff was friendly I only needed to stay one night before my return flight home Please read all reviews and evaluate

Horrible experience in my life ever I booked too queen rooms with the kitchen I am traveling with 3 kids and my wife

I woke up at 1 am in the morning with some itching in legs and my back First I thought it was mosquito bites but the itching got worse and I checked to make sure if there were bed bugs I looked online to verify and sure it was bed bugs and there were quite a few under the mattrees I called the front desk immediately and she says first we can offer new clean sheets and declines to give me another room and tells me they are all booked We had to call several times and the housekeeper guy comes in to the room He took some pics too I am terrified cause this is my first experience with bed bugs and I have 3 kids and I was very worried Finally they did switch me to another room but me and my wife could not sleep all night I have bites all over in my torso, legs , forehead I still have itching and bites The night staff told that there was no manager on duty and he will come in 10 am We wait until 10 am and the morning receptionist tells us that she is not sure when he is coming? What a joke, how can a manager be not called even at night in this situation? So she gave us his number and would promise that he would call us on Monday but never go a call back I am health care professional and i should report to to the health department Such a horrified experience and dirty place that no one should stay here The housekeeping guy who cleaned the room at night time with bed bugs is serving breakfast in the morning too?

We checked in on the 26th around 5 We checked out around 7 and spent more money to change hotels We didn’t feel safe The room had a terrible odor of smoke and mold

There seemed to be a lot of people just standing around the parking lot There were burn holes in the carpet, elevator was non functioning by and just overall, not a good place to stay Spend the extra money for a nicer place

Sketchy people around out side of hotel and they were also roaming inside I am fairly certain they were not staying here The back door was held open with a 5 gallon paint bucket

Not safe Most of the lobby was full of tv boxes and was a mess I guess they are renovating but they should have closed if you can’t pick things up Shower drained very slowly so you were in a puddle Elevator did not have permit in case No trash can in room, also the lobby smelled terrible We had the two full bed rooms and there were only two towels in each room We had three people and registered that with the reservationThe literal only plus was the staff at the desk was polite I know Portland is expensive but this place was highway robbery for what we were charged

Fantastic experience here Staff was friendly and welcoming Room was clean and well-ventilated

Common areas were well-kept and the artwork throughout was cool to see Their garden was a great place to hang out and meet others We also walked to Eastern Promenade as a group to watch the fireworks over the harbor and the hostel even cooked us food and gave out drinks This hostel is very conveniently located too The overnight parking garages are expensive- about $50 a night, but that is no fault of the hostel of course Had an awesome time here, one of the better hostel experiences I have had in the US They do a great job running it Some cool shirts for sale too Will definitely stay here again

I recently came to the hostel and was told they only had one room left but that it slept 4 They said there were people who called and showed up frequently after so that it would probably be booked up quickly if I didn’t want it It was called a “private room” but in reality it was just 4 bunks in a room with a bathroom that was advertised on the website as being only for that room but instead shared it with another dorm

I was leaning away from it but asked if they’d be willing to give my number to any guest that might stop in looking for a room They said they definitely would and they thought the odds were high that someone would be willing to split some of the cost of the room for stay in one of the extra 3 beds Wary but convinced, I got the room with the expectation that they’d get at least one person still looking for a room After no calls in a couple hours, I had 3 friends attempt to call the hostel over the course of several hours to ask for accommodation Not a single one got any response I then walked back to the hostel and couldn’t find an employee at the desk at all At this point I realized they had booked out everything and so just didn’t have any incentive to respond to newcomers I gave it 2 stars because the hostel was clean and in a good location but at the end of the day, the way a person is treated means everything in the hostel industry and I was lied to in an attempt to sell the last room

The hostel itself is very nice, especially with the lovely backgarden in which to hang out and relax The facilities are all in perfect orderMy one complaint is the attitude of the hostel

In the ‘welcome’ email, there was a whole list of things you could get fined for I understand a fine if you lose the keys, but a fine for accidentally sleeping in the wrong bunk bed seems ridiculous It felt a bit like a really strict school This continued in the hostel itself, with lots of passive-agressive notes everywhere In the bathroom it said: “do what you need to do and GET OUT!” Not very welcoming In the kitchen there was a note saying that you had to keep meal prep to five minutes or less, not sure if I can cook anything in less than five minutes! Fortunately no one bothered me when I took a bit longerOverall it feels like the hostel expects the worst of people even though the staff itself was very friendly This didn’t impact our stay very much but I would like to leave it as feedback to the hostel to see if a more positive approach would also work!

This place was a little dated, but it was CLEAN!! The walls were paneled, the tub was pink, along with the tiles But the toilet and shower panels and shower head were new and quiet, very nice The fridge was also very nice, with a separate freezer

We asked for extra towels, and they brought them to our room I would definitely stay here again No breakfast

So my boyfriend and I have came back here over 5 times now and I’ve decided to share my thoughts

We are never dissatisfied Front desk is friendly helpful and accommodating to our needs The house-keeping is friendly, quick and very thorough Staff over all is ideal when you want a comfortable and friendly stay Rooms are clean and air conditioners work so well I’m sitting here in a sweatshirt in August in my room (It’s Perfect) I would recommend this place to anyone! “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” this place is definitely a hidden gem! Location is perfect for family’s, shoppers and people who need access to the highway quickly
