We always stay at a Holiday Inn Express when we travel but this was not the same experience Outside looks like their typical/renovated hotel however, rooms are very dated and small I wouldn’t recommend this location if you enjoy other Holiday Inn Express locations, you will be disappointed

Pros:-Not far from tourist attractions-No daily parking fee (others in the area charge)-Parking lot/facility was gated and well lit-Morning front desk staff were pleasant and helpfulCons:-Typical breakfast was missing ‘normal’ options daily (We were there for 6 days/5 nights) Also, breakfast staff was overheard talking about guests to other guests (not positively)-No hot water one morning but was corrected in the afternoon Also, shower made a very loud sound while water was running-Rooms are very outdated and small comparatively-Possibly not the greatest area but I’m not from around there I only say that because the front door is a key card swipe to open 24/7 and there is a security guard overnight

This location is situated perfectly for enjoying the area It’s a safe and clean place to stay The Ritz Carlton it is not

There was a disconnect somewhere on there part concerning my reservation but fortunately it was resolved later that evening It has its own parking lot but if you happen to go when the hotel is at capacity, finding a spot might be a chore Parking spaces are tight It’s very dated and some of the furniture and drapes in my room looked tired It definitely needs some attention to detail Breakfast was OK and served its purpose Walmart is just down the street I would stay here again but it would not be my first choice

Renée

Pros and cons—Cons: To Google maps and IHG Google stated this was 8 minutes from my destination NOT!And from the employee standpoint

ahem IHG please get them renovated!!Pros: Staff, hkpg and the girl at the front desk who greeted me were wonderful! (give them a raise!)Clean but dated rooms Breakfast was yummy, just like the one at my hotel!👋😄

Just wanted to leave a review based on customer service I’m on my day off and doing uber eats deliveries for extra money The front desk clerk was so condescending it was laughable

He rolled his eyes and shook his head irritated when I explained I would need a signature to confirm the delivery of an Apple product He was rude, classless and embarrassingly unprofessional

Furnished well and nice bed Shower was average Room was clean and seemed remodeled within last 5 years

We had two rooms both missing different things They have 2 elevators that requires a key card to operate (no signs about needing a key card though), but one elevator is reserved for staff So if the “staff” elevator shows up first, after much frustration to figure it out, press the down button and hope the other elevator arrives before the “staff” one resets Funny thing was outside of the ground floor, any elevator would take you down Ridiculous I have never seen that before Also we could not take the steps, the doors to each floor is locked I could maybe understand that for security, but seems like a major safety hazard if there is a fire and the ground floor is blocked Also room was not ready until after 5pm on check-in

Vanessa Dieterly

The hotel itself is new and looks nice, and it’s in a fantastic location right by Union Market, but there were a few issues The service from the employees felt like from an old/rundown hotel, not a nice new one The person working the front desk when we checked in was wearing sweats, which just seemed really out of place

The website said parking was an additional $25 per night, but when we checked in we were told it’s $35/night Our room reeked of weed when we walked in There’s a lot of construction around, which didn’t bother us, but might be a problem for some people The breakfast was decent and the lobby stays stocked with coffee, tea, and citrus infused water

Everything was very clean The beds were comfy, and you were about a block or two from just about everything Everyone was very friendly and nice

I enjoyed watching the fireworks from the balcony I felt very secure in the building, and safe I was a little confused at first with how to enter the code to the main door I figured it out, but maybe a small informational guide would be nice I loved my stay here, and I would totally come back here the next time that I am in DC There was a little garden in the alley way behind the hostel that was quite pretty to view as well

Lance Russo

Let me start by saying I’ve stayed here in the past in my travels and loved it I’m also not aware if owner knows how his guests gets lied to by staff They canceled my reservations and charged my card ( they still have gave my money back

) All because they thought I was homeless I was embarrassed I live in Jersey and have a home there I love the artistic vibe here in DC and loving community I even joined a local non profit group there temperance alley because the community is wonderful For when I visit Just cause a man travels and has mental disorders like myself And chooses to explore all lives beauty Does not make him homeless They hurt my feeling so bad And it’s a shame cause I’m sure they didn’t realize just cause I’m different does not give them the right to discriminate The hostel is gorgeous but mistakes happen Besides calling me homeless and hurting my feeling so bad I cried The place is awesome I’m still waiting for owner to call me And my refund but the money isn’t the issue it’s my feelings that are the issue So if your different in any way or beat to your own drum or if your happy being you Do t go here they are not kind My name is Lance Russo I’m not happy about the discrimination and absurd comments made by staff The owner still has not called

Clarissa G

Stayed one night with a friend in the private two-bed room Check in was easy, room had everything we needed I do wish the bathroom was a little better enclosed (it had a glass wall all around but the glass was only frosted beginning partially up)

But the fact that they managed to fit so many amenities into the space so efficiently was very impressive Room was very clean Definitely would recommend to travelers on a budget Would visit again

Gretchen Waters

I rented the entire Swann House for the wedding party and close family members for my daughter’s wedding and it was a simply great choice! I love old houses with great character and Swann House definitely offers that Each room is unique and the common areas are comfortable But what was most outstanding was the staff – Isabelle and Sasha in particular went so far beyond what I would have expected that by the end of out stay I felt like they were part of our family! Those who have commented on the condition of the house must not understand that an old house will never be perfect – it will always have its quirks and imperfections – that is what makes an old house unique and interesting

Our entire party of 22 people simply loved our stay at Swann House!

Mercy Harper

Loved our stay at this charming and unique spot! Innkeeper Sashi greeted us with “Welcome home!” and was so hospitable, accommodating, and full of great recommendations The Regent is a perfect room for a romantic getaway The price is actually quite reasonable for the location, amenities, and cool factor

As you will see in the other reviews, this place isn’t for everyone If you want everything in your life to be standard, safe, and as-expected, you might be happier elsewhere This place is for the artists, the romantics, the adventurers, the hippies, and the punks!

Quinelle Bethelmie

I wish I could give 0 starts My friends and I were very excited to stay at the Swann House My friends had come in from out of town and thought the place was very cute and I was excited to support a local business

However, on the day of my stay, they changed the room that I booked due to repairs, and none of the advertised amenities were available, and as I’ve tried to request a refund they’ve made various excuses about why I shouldn’t get one Had they been more amenable I would have considered giving it a second chance But, when we arrived the place was deserted, and it’s no wonder why their business is declining I was incredibly disappointed with the service, the lack of consideration, and the blatant disrespect to our agreement

Make sure to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking a place They compare hundreds of hotel sites and normally will have prices much cheaper compared to others! You’re welcome :)! This resort is one of the best in the area

I have been coming here for a long time If you stay for a few days you for sure won’t regret itWent twice in one weekend A fun eclectic spot, suggest a reservation but not always required I had the corned Beef Hash and my husband had the Shrimp and Grits Fresh made donuts topped off a great brunch We cannot wait for our next visit to DC to stop by our favorite brunch spot 😍

A “Kush” D

Its a pretty unique place to stay at It more of home away from home Its like renting a room in a house

Everything is provided except There is no TV which you does not matter because you are not visiting DC to watch TV i hope Its a different experience if i had to describe the feeling i guess you could say it puts you in time when things were simpler and lived with just the things you need

Matasha MurrellJones

We had the worst experience here We were gifted a free night and meal at the restaurant from one of my favorite actresses and were excited based on the reviews Instead we could not get a good night’s rest

The person/people in the room next to us kept knocking on the door waking us up and claiming we had something called hooka? I have no idea what that is, it sounds illegal Then the night manager came to the room because the people next door were complaining and the night manager said he smelled nothing Really? Of course you did not smell anything, we don’t smoke! It was ridiculous They did refund our parking fee We were told that the manager would be in touch to discuss the issue, but that never happened It’s been a year now and nothing Apparently the people next to us were long term residents I don’t know why they never addressed our experience, but I cannot recommend a place that does not address issues such as people disturbing a family at night That is unacceptable The restaurant was wonderful and highly recommended So much for the DC experience

It’s currently housing as a shelter we all know I am currently homeless so this place is housing me until I can get placed with my voucher The shelter staff aren’t as snobbish as regular shelter staff, but they still have their own personal attitudes Overall this is a nice hotel really clean smells decent and it’s a nice size and location

Mariana Olivera

This hotel is very convenient in location, 20 minute drive away from the capital of Washington! However, I do not recommend walking around the area if you are not familiar with it Staff was helpful and friendly The complimentary breakfast consisted of fresh cut fruit, oatmeal, bread-based, etc always tasted great

Rooms were clean and the house keeping always provided us with fresh towels My only complaint was about one staff member, very nice guy, but he got too comfortable and approached my partner and I about “going to his house” and “checking out local strip clubs” Very unprofessional conversation

Matthew Schneider

Terrible No water in the gym No towels there

Machines covered in sweat Went to wash my hands in the first floor men’s room and the soap dispenser doesn’t work If you’re driving – forget it The access is impossible I only stay at Marriott properties and have a decent status, and this is the worst I’ve visited Stay away despite it being low cost Nice friendly staff but the place is literally dirty The surrounding area looks quite dangerous and despite location on what looks to be a park, I would not go running there

Place a bit weird 4th floor is probably under construction because the hallway is not air conditioned, super hot during the day and smell like rodents and have a few wall coverings taped in place by masking tape and a part of the hallway curtained off and that where the heat is coming fromThe rooms are quite nice and AC works

Clean bathroom Although the toilet is super high and you feel like a perching eagle with feet dangling (I am 5’10”) Pillows are of 2 varieties – feather and synthetic Decent mattress as wellThere is even a little balcony with a nice view onto the inner patioThe pool is closed due to some regulation from 2020 Gym is open 24 hrs with free weights, 2 treadmills and an elliptical Towels, disinfectant wipes and chilled water machine make it a nice experience working outBar is closed

California Dreaming

After being on the road for 4 hours I arrived to the hotel 35 minutes before the 3pm check in time I went inside to ask if I could possibly check in early (you have to be buzzed in) and as soon as the door opens the lady at the front desk yells across the lobby “if you’re here to check in check in time isn’t until 3pm” I understand rules are made to be followed, I get it, but I would have appreciated a little professionalism on her part to at least pretend to want to accommodate me even if the result (me having to wait 35 minutes to check in) was the same

So I go outside and wait until 3pm to come back to a very rude check in process (by the same lady) I was already turned off by my experience with the front desk only to open the door to a room that was subpar especially for the price I paid (there was a concert going on at the FedEx Field so I’m hoping that’s why the prices were inflated) The bed was springy and lacked support or cushion, the pillows were flat, and my comforter was dingy and stained The shower is VERY small (tub/shower combo) and had hair in it My mirrors had what I assume to be toothpaste splattered on it I explored the area and ended up checking into another hotel nearer to the concert venue that had a very polite staff and the hotel and rooms were a lot cleaner In the immediate area (literally next door to each other) are two other hotel optionsthere is a Residence Inn by Marriott and a Hilton Garden I believe I would fork over the extra couple of dollars in hopes that the service, beds, and cleanliness are better Needless to say if there is an event in the area again I would definitely not come back and will avoid any stays at the Sonesta brand in the future

Nomad Family

Nothing about this hotel makes it worth the price Staff is unprofessional They double charged our bank card for no reason

They said the money would go back to our account same day, had to wait 5+ days Rooms are decent, no amenities here except a mediocre gym Pool is closed for no reason, you have to request microwaves, the fridge in rooms is very small and don’t work well Definitely shady at night, a guy kept trying to sell stuff to us as we enter and exit the hotel building Late at night people standing in the hallways talking loudly The front desk people have no respect and speak to you like you have never stayed in a hotel before, don’t waste your money! Do not recommend and won’t return

Let’s get the issues out of the way This place is old and provides very basic amenities The rooms are small and hard to clean, the window a/c is noisy, and the room floor and outside stairs are creaky

Every morning we would wake up to the strong smells wafting up from kitchen (we were on the second floor, mind you) Finally, the place is 8 minutes walk away from the nearest metro station, and pretty far from the main points of interest When you do it twice every day, it becomes a lotSo I would have given this place one or two stars, but The owner, Jack, is such an amazing host, that the entire experience was greatly improved He really makes you feel at home He also offers a nice breakfast buffet, as well as hot drinks 24 hours a day Everybody who stayed there was super nice and friendly When we left, Jack told us “This is your home”, which summed up the entire experience

Nicole Hellmuth

Booked this place at least a month ago Got an email confirmation 9/14/21 for my stay 10/5/21-10/6/21 When I arrived, the place looked slightly unkempt

The door was cracked open so I entered People’s personal items were all over the place and Room 101’s door was completely open (immediately to right of front door) I only entered to the office space, and felt uncomfortable, so I exited The front door shut and locked behind me I used the doorbell and got no answer I tried calling all available numbers Most were disconnected Hopefully I’m not charged for a stay

Overall my stay was enjoyable The College Park Holiday Inn was located in a great area not to far off I-95 Ext

on Ikea Way and yes it shares a parking lot with Ikea The hotel has a Bar and Restaurant both reasonably priced Their breakfast buffet is very fulfilling and kids eat free That was a plus! Although I didn’t get a opportunity to use the pool, they did have a indoor pool in Tower One The staff were all very friendly My room was clean as well I definitely recommend this as a place to stay when visiting the area

Kala Twigg

Front desk staff were kind & tried to help as much as they could But this hotel is disgusting Not clean

Whole first tower smells like water damage My lungs & throat have been killing me Was contemplating staying extra days Definitely not now Moved rooms because the first definitely smelled of animals Children were complaining of that And water damage The elevators smell like urination And there is dust & dirt in every crevice Not to mention a very strange encounter at “free breakfast” which we wound up paying for I will be beyond grateful to be HOME (We originally wanted to stay at Hilton… it was having some Reno issues so they suggested we shop nearby, sad this is where we chose) Id venture to say the water/sprinkler system went off multiple times at some points in the past The carpets reek of water/mildew Convenient to the highway But … save your money people Drive elsewhere

Dan Royea

I really enjoyed my stay here Staff was very friendly and helpful Hotel was very clean no matter what area I was in, either my room, at the pool and in the elevator

I really enjoyed the color changing water wall (be sure to check it out) And this is the first hotel I’ve been to that has a doorbell for every room How cool is that? Plus the ring around the button changes red for do not disturb (also shuts off doorbell function) and green if you want your room cleaned Nice indoor pool Also has a nice restaurant/bar Outside was just as clean as the inside was It’s 30 minutes from the White House and 20 minutes away from the airport I highly recommend staying here if your in the area

Worst hostel I’ve stayed in so far Whole place smells like sweat because of the “no shoes” rule which is clearly only there so they can save money on cleaning Rooms are clean and the beds are fine, but our room had a neon red bright exit sign that couldn’t be turned off and lit up the room at night

Also, one bathroom for the whole floor, really? Would’ve rather spent a little extra and got a hotel roomThe hostel doesn’t exactly encourage socializing either All the people we met were great, but the only nice common area (rooftop) closes way too early and the rest of the common areas are sweltering hot due to the lack of AC Also, no drinking after 10pm apparently Can’t even enjoy a beer in the heatThe only positive is the location, which really is good Walking distance to most of the good places in DC and right next to a grocery store Honestly the location is the only reaons this review has two stars and not oneOverall, I expected more from a hostel in the nation’s capital

Aidan Garrity

The location and staff are excellent The included breakfast is nice, even if it’s just pancakes Rooftop patio area great for relaxing and chatting

The hostel has a good social atmosphere Parking is a bit pricey since it’s downtown, but most people visiting this hostel are from overseas so it doesn’t matter as much Would stay here again when visiting DC

Nicholas Daniel

Great stay for my first time at a hostel The staff are very friendly and helpful, and willing to give recommendations for food in the area The free pancakes every morning were great

All the facilities were kept clean The hostel is well located near many attractions The only real complaint was that the wifi was slow but with 20+ people there that is to be expected

The level of customer service for such a beautiful hotel was terrible to say the least My family and I drove 3 hours to help my sister who recently had a baby and was overwhelmed They paid for a room for us to stay in not far from their house

Upon arrival/registration process, I was told the room was not paid for and I would need to pay about $461 for the 2 nights After getting the paperwork I noticed a different card from mines showing and questioned it With an annoyed tone the rep said it was only to hold the room, which still needs to be paid for so sign here I completed the check in process as I was already exhausted and just ready to get some sleep My mom and children went up to the room while I looked for a parking spot After getting upstairs, I noticed the door would not lock at the bottom, but decided to ignore it and use the top latch I noticed my mom who is anemic,, sitting with her head wrapped up and shivering I asked what was wrong with the heat she said it wasn’t coming on but maybe she didn’t know what she was doing After trying it myself, I noticed the thermostat was not working at all, it was an old time wall thermostat with the switch on the bottom and temperature buttons to adjust No lights were displayed to indicate it was working so I called down to service desk to get it fixed or moved to another room By this time it’s a out 11:30 and had worked since 6am The woman answered the phone and after I explained what was going on replied, there are no utility workers on shift, the hotel is completely booked and the only option is to get some blankets to us I said fine reluctantly and waited for the blankets The security guard brought 2 blankets for us a few minutes later and said normally you just have to turn up the heat to warm it up He checked it out and said wow you’re right, nothing IS happening Maybe then can put you downstairs This time my mom called the front desk and was met with an unfriendly even more annoyed tone After another explanation of the heat situation, my mom asked to speak with a manager; she was told, “There is no manager, we are fully booked and I’m busy right now” My mother said there is no way I’m paying all this money to stay at a hotel with no heat, if you can’t help me then we’ll take our money elsewhere She then said you’re welcome to leave which we did After speaking to my sister, she was furious because the Crown Plaza had an affiliate hotel right across the street The agent could have tried just a tad bit more to act like she cared about her guests Customer Service is the face of a business and that experience could have been managed so differently If I could give 0 stars I would

Check in was smooth The clerk acknowledged me as an UHG Rewards member and that I had booked with points I was given a room on the 8th floor which is great

I do not like low floor rooms The bed and bathroom was super clean 👌 Great night sleep and the breakfast was good I would recommend this hotel and would stay again! No complaints at all

Review only on front desk staff, and lower level of hotel I did not stay overnight Went in to conduct business

Great curb appeal off Baltimore Ave, College Park Quiet location, other than traffic Front desk presentation flows well, very clean, functional, gym open to midnight, business center, snacks at front, optional water, coffee where neededThe desk clerk was cordial, knowledgeable
