The front staff was friendly and prompt The room itself was very spacious I always appreciate hotels that let you use your Netflix account which this one does

The unit itself was clean and nice I only have a couple complaints with the room itself The bed was comfy, and the shower always had hot waterI don’t know if it intentional or not, but the balcony door wouldn’t lock which I didn’t like, also the fold out bed was very uncomfortable so we had to put it on the floorThe breakfast was fine, nothing special but it was maybe slightly above average for hotel breakfasts goThe only big issue was there appeared to be broken glass in the pool We picked up all the remnants we could find The hot tub was clean and no issues thereAll in all, I would stay here again I feel that it was a good value and the pros outweighed the cons

My family and I stayed here during the adoption of our daughter The staff honestly went above and beyond to welcome us and our new little bundle of joy Pete, the manager, made us feel right at home

Hunter and Orey were also an absolute pleasureThe hotel is clean and comfortable It has a great pool, and we certainly enjoyed the hot breakfast every morning

Amy McCain

Great stop along the way on my road trip with my dog Orry, the desk clerk, was so gracious upon check-in and made sure we got a ground floor room to easily take my dog out plus gave her biscuitsThis hotel was very clean and I loved the fully appointed kitchen in the room

I checked out the pool and gym area and those were very nice and clearly well taken care of Great hotel to stop at on a long road trip and very pet friendly

We had been on the road for a while as we are moving north with our two dogs We had not anticipated stopping on Joplin and had plans for a few more hours of travel But our kids had different plans and we called a few places and they weren’t very friendly

When I called here they were super nice and extremely helpful The lady helped get us a room and I’ve never stayed at a more pet friendly hotel The staff was amazing, kind, and very helpful I will be recommending TownPlace to all my pet traveling friends Thank y’all for a wonderful experience!

I love this location and stay here every time I travel through Joplin My one complaint is the squishy pillows that provide no support (seems to be the trend at many hotels these days though) Other than that, this is a fabulous hotel! The staff is spectacular

They have EV charging available and, since they knew we would be low on charge at arrival, they placed a cone and a reserved sign on one of them for me to be sure I had a place to plug the car in They are VERY pet friendly (only $25 for the dog for the entire stay) and have a decent sized indoor pool that is well maintainedOk, I do have a second issue- the free breakfast they provide was reheated frozen waffles and breakfast sandwiches this time I am assuming due to Covid, but it was pretty gross and definitely not the standard expected (or even experienced here in the past) We drove through McDonald’s the second day Still, I will absolutely stay here again thanks to the rock star service!

Chris Thurston

We stopped at this hotel at the halfway mark of our trip We were extremely tired and ready to get some sleep The front desk clerk was extremely helpful in getting our reservation fixed (wrong dates in the system) without any issues

The room on the other hand was an issueThe ottoman was extremely stained and there was mold all over the bathroom ceilingI would not recommend staying here to anyone and my family and I will not stay here in the futureWe were very disappointed, especially with this hotel being a Marriott chain

Came to stay after celebrating husband’s birthday The room given to us was placed so perfectly by the doors we were in and out so easily, this has been my favorite stay Easily best hotel in this town

The night front desk lady was awesome! Stair corridors were very well lighted and clean and smelled clean Room was very clean and the jacuzzi in the room was fantastic! Close to 24/7 Waffle House location as well

David Arthur

Disappointed in lack of cleanliness at this hotel We book with Hilton or Hampton because we know we can count on them to be cleanThe first room we checked in to had white strings or pieces of fuzz on the floor all throughout the room

The hotel was gracious in letting us change rooms However, the next room left a lot to be desired It had the same white pieces of something on the carpet, a peanut at the edge of one bed, some kind of small dark colored specks of something on the fitted sheet (not bed bugs), hair in bathroom floor and in the tub, and hand prints on the windowOn a good note, the beds were comfortable, and we love using the Hilton app and digital keys

Lisa The Junk Diva

Stayed for business recently and it was ok Hotel is kinda old and could use some updates Bed is comfortable and it is quiet which are big plus for me as a night shift worker

Only thing that was off putting for me was breakfast, I felt as though I was bothering the lady by asking for stuff to order, she was very busy Not sure if I will go back but I do like staying at Hilton hotels usually so I may check some of the other ones in town

Check in went well the staff we very friendly and was there like Johnny on the spot to get me into my room when the door didn’t want to open I didn’t even have to go to the front desk from the 2nd floor she watched me on the camera struggling and came right up to use her master key to get me into the room The actual room itself appeared to be clean, bed was comfy and the shower took a smidge long to warm up it had great water pressure and appeared to be in good order

Easy on easy off to the freeway with ample spots to eat, gas up and get back on the road This will now be my go to hotel when passing through Joplin

I stayed in room 106 a couple weeks ago I paid $75 for one night When I first got in the room it looked ok

Definitely nothing fancy The shower stall was way too small for me Everything seemed fine that night and I was exhausted The next morning I realized the bed had big problems The pillows were disgusting The bed had something down the side of it and in the corner I felt nasty enough to take a second shower before I left I asked the owner for a discount and he said no I will not come here again

Brenton MacAloney

I was looking for a last minute room in Carthage and came across the Best Budget Inn on a travel website For lodging, I normally stay in bigger chain hotels, but Carthage didn’t have any (nor did I really care to stay in one while driving Route 66) When looking online, the reviews here seemed really decent and the price was exceptional

So I rolled the dice and went for it I couldn’t have been happierThe rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the location was perfect They had a nice pool out back that was awesome to take a dip in after a long day of driving on Route 66 The motel overlooks a park with a lake and they had some tables on the side of the property that were great to eat dinner and enjoy a drink atFinally, I had several interactions with the owners and they were as friendly as could be As I was departing, one of the owners told me to check out Red Oak before I left town What a great recommendation as that might have been one of the top 5 things I saw on Route 66 for my whole trip I’d highly recommend staying here if you are in Carthage

We are traveling and stayed here 6 years ago and this week again Please don’t believe any negative reviewsThis is a fabulous place, and a new updated facility

Clean rooms, and bathrooms are very clean I have gotten excellent customer service from the staff and felt very satisfied They offer full breakfast Monday through Friday and breakfast foods are offered on the weekends They also have a washer and dryer available

Holly Thomas

Slightly off the main road, but worth it! Staff was VERY friendly and helpful They even added additional breakfast items when we came down lateBreakfast was delicious, BLUEBERRY waffles, delicious biscuits and gravy as well as the usual continental breakfast items

The rooms were clean and comfortable If we’re ever passing through Joplin again, we’ll definitely stay here

Dixie Vessar

I would give zero stars if I could The only nice thing about this place is the managers The staff was rude and argumentative, the rooms were dirty, and the breakfast was microwave sandwiches

If you’re looking for a cheap place for nothing more than a bed for the night maybe But I would only use this place as a last resort The air conditioner basically just makes noise We had a room with 2 queen beds (which were more like twin beds) and they were not comfortable at all (they felt like we were sleeping on the ground) Also the comfort inn is run by the same management We also left as a guy sprayed a room for bugs

Had so much fun this weekend! The room was perfect and the heated pool and hot tub were a nice addition No one else was there the entire time we were relaxing, which made the experience that much more enjoyable All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and friendly

Of course it’s a casino, and I never win any money while I’m here, but it’s always a great time!

Rick Tackett

Overall this was a nice place to visit The buffet was excellent and Vera was our server, she was from the Ukraine and very pleasant I did win some money but not enough to make a big deal about

The band was great and the atmosphere enjoyable for the majority of the time Was there to try and win their million dollar giveaway and didn’t get my name called but maybe next time I do recommend this place Four stars for the buffet and five to the server Vera

Barb Beezley

Nice size casino Mostly Dollar machines anymore Even the Penny Slots cost almost a dollar a pull

Hate that Definitely needs more waitresses The ONE we did see was running her butt off, and we never saw her againThe rooms are spacious and furnished nicely The bed was comfyGuest Services and the Valet were extra helpful and quick about it! Nicely doneFood is really good at the snack bar Wish they had better choices for breakfast

This was a wonderful experience! This motel is a beautifully restored set of buildings with attention to details that really puts you back into history There was a cute little radio playing as we entered our room, the towels all matched, the furniture was tastefully done For me cleanliness is huge so the sparkling clean sheets, floors, bathroom, shower, toilet were a real plus

The bathroom is all original looking tile too which was super fun The wood floors were a bit scratched (hey it’s an old building!) but clean and polished and you really felt like the owners took pride in their motel It is two sisters who took over when the building was crumbling away and they have set about putting it back to rights They have really done an amazing job and they are still working on it which makes it an ongoing restoration project Quite amazing place to stay not just for the experience of history but also just in general it was clean, well kept, attentive staff, and felt safe and valued as a customer We will for sure be back when we come through Carthage in the future

Jeff Ilardi

What a wonderful gem Beautiful and spacious rooms But Debbie, who checked us in was worth the stay alone

She told us all about the history of the Motel and then took us to our room and showed us around She even showed us how to work the AM radio in the room No TV, but you don’t need it So much to do and see in and around Carthage

M. L.

We’ve been going here for years, every time we pass through Missouri in the spring and summer I can’t say enough good things about this place and the staff So cool! I love everything, the radio in each room playing old music, the room prices, the neon etc

It’s an experience like stepping back in time I appreciate vintage buildings, cars and all that and this place is a dream come true

Decided to take our daughter for a short jaunt just so she could swim Really awesome restaurant attached to the hotel, rooms are nice and it’s close to everything The pet friendly aspect is nice and they have a nice dog area

Plus they have outside seating with fire tables and even grills if you want to cook Will definitely come back here and I live about 15 minutes away

Rebecca Bass

Good location with restaurant options everywhere you look Pet friendly, but no obvious spot to walk your dogs, and the room key needs to work to get into the pet space that is available Lobby is on the second floor but no signs in hotel is clear

Took quite a while to find the continental breakfast, which was not worth the walk Also a little confused on the smoking policy as we signed a waiver to not smoke e-cigarettes but the hall reeks of real cigarette smoke

Judy Cheske

This place was amazing for this level of hotel As part of a cross-country road trip, I’ve experienced many roadside hotels that are less than enjoyable, just a place to sleep and get coffee in the morning but this La Quinta in Joplin was a welcome change I felt like the proprieters really cared about me, and they put a lot of effort into creating an enjoyable experience

To start, there are 2 pools and 2 hot tubs, indoor and outdoor; both hot tubs were great as was the indoor pool (it was too cold for the outdoor pool for me) The entire outdoor courtyard was beautiful – pretty landscaping, lounge areas, multiple outdoor firepits and music, plus a lot of open green space and pathways to walk your dog (which is so much better than the usual gross parking lot for dog walking that most hotels offer) Our room had a large window overlooking this expansive courtyard which was such a nice view The hotel was also very clean Room was average size This hotel has a Old Chicago restaurant attached to it, easy walking distance which is great after all day on the road, and decent food Breakfast was above average, and service was top notch Definitely would return here

A bit pricey for a non suite room but hey you have to pay to play or there’s always a Super 8 close by Thanks to the front desk for the lemon water and hey the breakfast could use some potatoes and an alternative meat (Turkey) Everyone does not eat pork! The room was so awesome I extended my stay! Easy access on/off interstate 44 and convenient location Busy area with many restaurants to choose from close by Hampton Inns are our “go to” choice when traveling

They always offer a selection of options at their free breakfast with coffee and tea available 24/7 Ramsey at the front desk was friendly, greeted us with a smile, efficient and helpful He offered suggestions for meals and readily helped us with our special request as we were traveling across countryOur room was slightly smaller than any other Hampton Inns we’ve stayed at, so it was a little tight rolling the luggage cart into the room A minor inconvenience for otherwise great accommodationsOn another note:As an avid recycler, I am hoping that at some point the Hilton brand will begin a plastic bottle, aluminum can and newspaper recycling effort at ALL of their properties

Kathy Richards

I have been a Hilton Honors member for years Our experience with the Hampton Inn in Joplin last weekend was a nightmare We were in Joplin for the AAU Region 16 track and field championship

Even though I made our reservation back in May when we got to the hotel after spending hours in stifling heat, on Friday night, we found that someone had checked in using our reservation! The desk clerk went to the room and confirmed that even though no one was in the room at the time there were belongings there He gave us another room and all seemed to be fine until I got an email the next day with a receipt attached as if we had checked out I immediately called the hotel and was assured the room was still ours until Sunday Things took a turn for the worse when I discovered my checking account had been hit twice! To make a long story shorter I ended up calling the Corporate office on Monday to explain the situation I no longer wanted to talk to the people at the hotel because I felt they were being dishonest with me After a lot of back and forth I was told a receipt had been issued for each night of stay I had never known anyone to do this The invoices were for $249 per night when my confirmation showed $149 per night At the end I was told my account would be credited twice for $113 and some change This was way too much activity on my account from this hotel It is Thursday and no money has been credited yet This has caused me a lot of headache and frustration I never thought I would experience anything like this from the Hampton Inn Hopefully the money will be returned soon but I will definitely think twice before staying here again

The hotel was clean and comfortable There was an issue in the parking lot with people drinking until late into the night I was on the north end of the hotel and the party was outside my window

I’m still having a problem getting the authorization money applied back to my card at almost 30 days later $116 is a significant amount when you expect it there within days Calling the hotel wasn’t productive Was told I should call my bank and have them call and possibly get the money back sooner Unfortunately I’m still waitingI wasn’t aware it was even happening until I returned home and called the bank to ask why I was charged twice for the roomIt’s a hassle getting it returned Needless to say it’s up to the hotel when they return my cash back Cash cards aren’t ideal for renting hotel rooms I’ll keep calling until the money is returned Just a hassle that I don’t need due to the circumstances that put me there to start with Seems that 7 days would be sufficient to ensure nothing was damaged or removed from the roomLive and learn I guess

I don’t often leave reviews, but this team has been amazing! From check in to breakfast and evening social, they’ve been great The hotel is under renovation, but it hasn’t impacted our stay at all The front desk was super accommodating when we checked in with two small children, making sure we’d be comfortable

The breakfast attendant clearly takes a lot of pride in her job and truly wants to take care of the guests Breakfast was a full hot breakfast still Evening social was great, we came toward the end and still had plenty of options to feel like we got to take advantage of the full social The team is clearly excited about the renovation and they should be- it looks fantastic from the last time we were here two years ago Great job at the Homewood Suites Joplin! We’ll be back!

We stay at A LOT of Hotels for baseball tournaments and work This hotel is TOP NOTCH! Extremely clean –from the rooms and the breakfast area, to the pool and fitness room We even saw one of the housekeepers cleaning the ELEVATOR! We asked for extra towels and they had them brought up in about 5 minutes

Extremely friendly and helpful front desk staff and the two ladies working the complimentary breakfast (which was very good and fresh) were very hard working and worked it more like a restaurant than a hotel breakfast Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again if we are in Joplin!
