Customer Service shines at this place Nancy, Laura, and the rest of the staff were helpful with our large party, incessant questions, remembered our family, and we’re so very approachable Housekeeping staff was super pleasant, breakfast (eggs and bacon, waffles, and tons of other things) was yummy

The hotel was booked and they worked hard to keep the food coming Easy off/on the highway Large and clean pool, nice hot tub, exercise room, and nice rooms Stayed here for an event in Kalamazoo We’ll be back!

I booked this hotel last minute because I ended up needing to travel for work It was the closest to my destination on Gun Lake and the price was right so I went for it I was so pleased with our experience

My husband and I arrived with our kids at 10pm and check in was simple and quick A credit card on file for incidentals and we were on our way to our room with a smile and friendly attitude from the front desk clerk Upon entering the room, you could tell it was freshly painted and wallpapered It was clean, the bathroom was nice, and the beds were comfortable We headed down to the breakfast in the morning and had delicious waffles, eggs, bacon, etc There was fresh coffee, cereal and yogurt for the kids, and juice Everything you could hope for in a continental breakfast and then some The women attending to the breakfast buffet were kind and prompt to refill items as needed There were alot of guests eating at the same time but everyone was courteous and patient in the small breakfast space We headed to the pool from breakfast and enjoyed having it to ourselves It was clean and a great size and the hot tub was great My husband even walked next door to grab massive donuts from the Donut Mill (highly recommend) When checking out, I took the keys to the front desk to drop off and was again sent on my way with a friendly smile from the clerk Overall, I don’t have a single complaint We had a great stay and would absolutely come back again if ever in the area

Lindsay Bean

We called ahead and rolled in pretty late at night Staff was friendly and helpful The rooms was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised

We had been on a long road trip Mid-low priced hotels always seem like a gamble, and this one was a win 🙂

This Holiday Inn Express is similar to my other HIE experiences in regards to the facility, I was happy The area seems very safe, the building is nice, and the rooms are decent size The carpet in my room had a weird stain (spill) by the door, but nothing that altered my usage or overall opinion

The staff is what made my stay exceptional Everyone I encountered over 3 days was friendly and accommodating; front desk, room attendants and breakfast service Super nice staff!!I would highly recommend based on the staff alone if in Kalamazoo Michigan

I updated with my room card holder and dates Absolutely AVOID this hotel I’ll start off by saying I woke up to bed bugs

See picture Still reading? Here we go I felt as is I was in section 8 housing Lobby was nice and receptionist was nice, but once I stepped into the elevator I knew my stay was not going to be as nice The elevator looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in months Carpet is very dirty and stained, dirty finger prints throughout Rooms are dirty and run down Drains don’t drain Carpet stained, my door wiggled badly The ethernet port in my room did not work Numerous cracks in the walls and ceiling I had 1 shower towel, 2 hand towels and no wash rags for a 2 queen bed room After a night of crying babies and a barking puppy (no pets?) From across the hall, then I wake up to find a bed bug under my blankets, I WILL be changing hotel chains Now I have to go work the day in clothes I’m concerned may have beg bugs in Disgusting

Cari Go

I am not impressed at all I don’t require too much from a hotel but this one is not worth the money The service is not good, the hotel is worn down and dirty

The floor in our room has dirt, the tub was brown, the mattress cover on the pull out couch has some stains The pull out couch is extremely uncomfortable The pool was warm which is a positive There is not a hot tub The pool hours are nice though I suggest staying somewhere else

Doug Milligan

It’s a beautiful hotel with lots of amenities The stores, restaurants, and bars on site are really nice The decorations in the hotel are beautiful especially when lit up

They’re in the middle of renovations, but nothing that lessened my stay My biggest issue was with paying $20 extra for parking a night It’s just a pet peeve of mine, parking should always be included in a hotel stay Hotels located downtown, close to many other places, making it convenient The view from the hotel is also nice

Grace Fleming

It was a beautiful hotel, very clean, with wonderful staff and friendly service The valet was always quick and efficient, and we had zero issues Hair dryers, an ironing board and iron, a safe, and small fridge are all located in the room

There was no microwave, which was a bummer but by no means a big deal It was a nice bonus that their ice from the ice machine is the small crushed ice and was delicious Vending machines were definitely pricey, but thats to be expected

Lois Halsted

Wonderful accomodations

Staff professional and friendly Our conference meals were beyond great(loved all the brownies and cookies) Conference rooms were well stocked with water Our room was clean, well stocked with water, coffee, and toiletries(oops! I guess they don’t go together, my bad) Even with the construction going on at the Radisson I did not feel it detracted from our conference Thank you for taking such great care of us while we attended Great Lakes Rotary PETS March 10-13, 2022

We stayed at the inn for 3 nights and were extremely impressed The location is great, and it is super close to K College The rooms were well appointed, clean, and spacious

We were blown away by the service as well, the inn keepers were super friendly, accommodating, and helpful, and the dog (even as someone who doesn’t like dogs too much) was great We also really enjoyed the breakfasts which were all delicious and varied

cynthia davis

We stayed in Ruth’s Room and it was comfortable and beautiful The house and grounds are detailed with period art and various themes The breakfast was delicious

I was super impressed with the style and design of the interior of the hotel Love all the artwork and relaxing modern furniture It was very pleasing to the eyes

The rooms are big, spacious and ideal for a long term stay, although I was only hanging out for two nights Parking was right across the street and had a much need breezeway given the Michigan winter (Parking is $20/day but safer than leaving your car on the snowy streets) The rooms are comfortable and quiet for the most part Someone had a dog on my floor and it was barking early and non stop I called the front desk twice and it eventually stopped Not the the first thing you want to hear in the morning when your trying to relax Couple of areas for improvement, there was no shampoo, conditioner or lotion in the bathroom Essentials when your traveling by plane, because you can bring those on your carry-on Also the breakfast provided by the hotel is supposed to end at 10am on the weekends, I went down at 9:40 and almost everything was gone, not eaten but removed by the staff Extremely disappointed

Alicia Shurn

Home2 suites by Hilton is a good quality hotel for downtown Kalamazoo My family of four were comfortable in a king bedroom suite We enjoyed the separate space with a pull out couch, TV, bathroom, kitchenette in one room with door closure and king bed TV and closet in the other room

Room was clean and well stocked with towels, kitchen needs, coffee The best part was the separate heating and cooling per each side of the room*Internet was fine in room, but logged you out every time you step out of room*Breakfast was grab and go, well stocked and cleaned, waffle maker has huge lines Hot breakfast is served at the garden hotel connected*Gym looked big with lots of options*Pool is small, no hot tub (kids had fun)*Parking is in gated garage across from the garden hotelI was surprised to find out that they gave vouchers and that they give you as many as you need for in and outOverall the hotel was great and I would certainly stay again Only disappointment was Kalamazoo as a city, there were lots of homeless in the playground a block from hotel, and over memorial day weekend almost everything was shut down Many restaurants did not open until 3pm and some such as Jimmy John’s were straight up closed

Montora Thomas

Definitely download the app It allows you to check in on your phone, and pick your room The app also gives you the ability to have a room key without a physical key, as well as control the temp, and tv

It’s great place to stay If you’re checking into Home2, you can enter in the Hilton entrance, just go past the desk and keep walking Also, downtown is very walkable so you can park and stay The hotel charges 20 a night for the garage, but they give in and out access If you don’t plan on going in and out, it’s cheaper to pay the garage directly

Top quality rooms and mattresses Sheets and pillows were fantastic The pool area is AMAZING and if you get a room attached to the pool (atrium) be prepared to endure the sound of fun until the pool area closes around 10 or 1030pm

Staff was fantastic and helpful They were understaffed but I tipped them well as a thank you for sticking it outThe attached restaurant is decent if you don’t want to leave the building for food Kids loved it and that’s my measurement Sadly, the bartender was the waitress and hostess and cashier I’m sure this will change as the pandemic ebbs and flows10/10 would stay again

Bethany Westrick

Staff were warm and inviting at check-in and check out We were one family out of a handful of rooms that had been rented, the hotel was empty We heard no noise in the hallways from other rooms during the night

Our room was clean and tidy The bathtub did not have a plug so I couldn’t bathe my toddler Our room was supposed to have a daybed but had this little couch instead which was nice but wasn’t what we had reserved There were stains on the bed linens, and linens and towels were various shades of white, cream, and orange, see attached photos of towels in room Two towels were supplied, with two hand towels and two washclothsThe pool area and hot tub were very dirty, see pictures There were food wrappers, visible dirt, dirty towels, and huge chunks of peeling hot tub surfacing littered over the deck The pool appeared to be clean but not well serviced Overall, the hot tub needs to be drained and replaced, the patches they made to the hot tub are not holding upAs a note, the restaurant on site is closed Sundays and Mondays so there are no opportunities to purchase meals on siteThere are many other hotel options in the area, I think we would choose another location moving forward

Vincent R Clarke

As I stepped into the property and approached the front desk I was actually impressed as this is such a remote location The attendants at the front desk were very polite and friendly as I expected The public areas seemed to be up to par and lighting in the hallways was good

The property seems to be secure as they lock the main entry and you must use your keycard or buzz to enter I don’t come into places looking for faults but when I entered the room things immediately hit me in my gut Now here’s the good part…1 I reserved a room with 2 queen beds and received a room with a king bed, I decided to keep the room anyway2 The sheets did not fit the bed at all and were old and yellowing, I couldn’t tell if they were white or cream I gave it the go and when I awakened the next morning the “fitted bed sheet had come completely off the corners of the mattress and the mattress cover did the same3 The basin in the bathroom was stopped up, housekeeping came immediately and repaired the issue4 There were several mold/mildew (they look the same to me) on the caulking around the tub5 The lighting in the room was poor, could have been more strategically located6 Window area was very dusty, I could see the dust without my glassesIf not for the above 6 items I could have given a better ratingI expected much better quality

What an AMAZING experience! We walked into this beautifully decorated Queen Anne Victorian home and were greeted by Amy, Jeff and their dog Amy showed us around and gave us homemade cookies! Yum! The room was perfect for our needs Breakfast was homemade and they provided a dairy free option! If you are in Kalamazoo and need a place to stay, ditch the hotel and stay here

You will NOT regret it!

Greg Trout

The Innkeepers were so kind and personable We had a beautiful room (the original master bedroom), spacious and beautifully furnished The house has been kept in great repair where not upgraded altogether (no small feat)

The breakfast was deliciousWhen we arrived, we discovered we had left a necessary piece of luggage at home (!!?!&$@#%€!!) The Innkeeper wondered if we couldn’t have it overnighted (we could!! Kudos to FedEx – and eldest son!) and helped us with coupons and a recommendation for a nearby brewpub, where we salved our wounds The vacation was saved, and actually started on a high noteIt was like staying with friends Who have a great houseOh, and it’s a good location too

Betty Hollander

Love this place

such a convenient downtown location, and every room a masterpiece of 19th Century craftsmanship You really have to take the time to sit in every room and take in the artful way all parts fit together The owners Jeff & Amy are a delightful couple and Amy’s breakfasts are incredible We had such fun meeting the other guests Most restful sleep we have had in a long time the bed was so comfortable We will be back for sure!

The service was amazing Breakfast was great and each day was different Location was great to get to all the wineries around

The bed was a bit on the hard side and the walls are thin Luckily our neighbors were quiet but we could hear the people outside the hotel chatting The TV also switches back to the weather channel if you don’t select ok every 30 mins or so

Laurie Simmons

App says like 4 miles from campus It was much further, making it an inconvenient choice for WMU orientation Typical Hampton Inn

Would normally be 4-5 stars But BEDBUGS!! The desk clerks were very helpful, moving my room, calling management, getting confirmation that my stay would be comped However, the general manager on checkout day was short, too busy to talk with me, condescending (as if I didn’t know what kind of bugs I was looking at), requested my pictures (which I had already shown the staff) Days later was charged for the room I reached out and he told me it was just a hold that would fall off, duh I WAS CHARGED I sent him the screen shots as proof and asked to be refunded Then I had to contact corporate who reached out to him and got my refund So yeah, 2 stars

Steve Weir

This place is pretty beat up and kind of gross I’ve stayed at many Hampton inns, this is by far the worst ever, and really damaging to the sparkling reputation that Hampton Inns have in my mind It’s clear that the high ratings must have come a long time ago, and that they have not invested in this place in a long time

The grossest thing were the pitchers placed on top of trash cans and with them a sign saying “no liquids In the trash”, so, instead people fill this gross pitcher with their liquids, and it just sits there There are all kinds of ad hoc signs printed off from a printer and taped to various things, many with poor grammar (and my grammar is Terrible) One sign says that “ice machine broke”, another says that there can be no “acceptations” to this curiously long list of rules posted in the elevator (I think they mean exceptions) It’s not the grammar that bugs me, just the obvious lack of concern about need a sign anyway, or the less than tactful use of the signs Another 4 signs posted in the dining area warn people that they must wear shoes There are signs for nearly everything at this hotel, all of them cheaply made and posted haphazardly with scotch tape Oh well, at least it distracted from the not very clean kitchen and completely beat up furniture

Noah was awesome! He was very helpful and genuineHowever the manager made her ‘power’ very clear My family and I are between housing and when the time came for us to extend she wouldn’t allow it

Someone had been removed from the hotel weeks ago and my husband help move them out and because she recognized him she kicked us out too We did NOTHING wrong I have a 8 month old and a 3 year old We stayed in the car for hours trying to find another placeThis hotel is nice and had everything we needed but the Manager has thrown salt over my thoughts of ever returning or recommending it to anyoneKeep your head down and stay in your room because she’s (manager) ready to pounce

Christy Powell

I came there today for the first time to do some landscaping work It was very high humidity and 90^ degrees One of the people that works there, Mike, came out and gave me a drink and said I was more than welcome to use the bathroom inside and sit in the AC if I needed to

Most places do not do this, they want to keep the dirty people out 🤣 He proceeded to make sure I was doing ok throughout the day Such kind and very generous service I received as someone who wasn’t even staying thereVery thankful for the extra mile!

Gary Miller

This hotel was one of the worse hotels we have stayed at this season As a family we travel with youth sports just about every weekend The reason for this poor rating is to do to many factors:The building itself has not been maintain properly- paint peeling, cupboards falling apart, and a distinct smell of mold

As a family with kids the pool is very small, which turned into to having issues with kids between families Splashing turned into arguments in which had families being removed from the propertyThe eating area was small and cramped for a having the hotel booked solid The breakfast was not open early for families to get food into the athletes prior to having to leave for competitionThe staff was overwhelmed which made them very rude and disrespectful To the point of fighting/arguing with customers Cops were called multiple times on many families, do to the staff members being frustratedManagement needs to really take a look inward on how this hotel is being operated Will not recommend this hotel to any family!!!

This hotel raised its prices by 45%, cut out cleaning service so no fresh towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toiletries, etc all week No trash can except for in the bathroom

Their internet was out for the first couple of days and the pool was out of service All of this for $200/night Definitely not worth the money COVID is done! Get back to normal and get back to cleaning the rooms like you used too!

Tarita Dantzler

The room had thick dust covering the furniture, one of the bathrooms was had black mold and mildew around the the floor of the shower as well the shower head The hotel worker was giving me cleanser to clean the room and a wash cloth, one of the cloths that guest use I told her I’m not cleaning the room it’s not my fault your housekeepers are all gone at 8p

She then told me that she take money off my room but did not she even documented that it was a STAIN not mold and mildew I was not able to speak to a manger before I checked out on Sunday and had there been vacancies some place else I would have taken my family to a different hotel I ama Hilton Honors member and I often stay at Homewood Suites but this was the first time I had such a bad experience Still trying to reach the manager very disappointing My stay was Aug 12 – 14 in a 2 room suite

Mackenzie Wheeler

I’ve stayed at this location a dozen of times I would recommend this hotel through and through The lady managers have gone above and beyond for me while I stay here

I had troubles connecting to wifi and they took the time to come and help me set it up on my computer They had milk alternatives for unfortunate people like myself, who can’t enjoy dairy I feel at “home” when I stay! Thank you for great experiences!

Our room 238 was amazing… I am so impressed with the service, the continental breakfast, the cleanliness, the peace and quiet the bed was so plush and clean

the tv was a big screen, the refrigerator was immaculate Just a great experience I’ve stayed in fancy hotels before and this experience was fantastic I’ll surely recommend and go back I was very happy with my stay at days inn portage

Jennie McDaniels

Dirty, scary, smelly, unsafe When we arrived around 9PM there was a group of people loitering near the side door smoking and drinking with the door to the building propped open There were no elevators so we had to lug everything up a flight of stairs

The room had no door lock and smelled foul The TV had a dried liquid substance on it, walls and floor were filthy and stained, and the bathroom had no toilet paper holder and smelled like cat urine The only positive was the front desk staff; she was so kind and sweet, I felt bad complaining but at the end of the day we didn’t feel safe there and it was way too dirty

Denise Saviano

When we first pulled in it was like a abandoned parking lot There was a homeless guy looking through the garbage and lighting it on fire He came up to my husband and asked for a lighter

Then i go inside we get our room the bed was literally going to break the mold in the bathroom and shower was disgusting Our shower door did not stay closed This is from july 29-31 2022 It was so bad we stayed one night and leftThe owners had there whole family living therealso it said breakfast and there was no breakfast I would not recommend this place at all Also they had a sign no rooms available when there was like only 4 cars in the parking lot Waste of money would love to get my refund for my one night we didnt stay there

The room was spacious, but a bit dated The beds were comfortable and we had no problem falling asleep Plenty of pillows that were top grade

Construction in the area made it difficult to get to the hotel, but the location is well suited for the Kalamazoo areaAs we travel, we often find many hotels have staffing issues The Residence Inn is no exception, and is minimally staffed We had no need for service during our stay

Worse night in years at a hotel Started with not clean bathroom – pee on front of toilet, hair and toothpaste in sink I cleaned it

Then had to get creative to block outside hall light that shined into room because there are no room darkening curtains or blinds in kitchen window Had to call front desk at 11pm to quiet kids running in front of doorway area Then at 2am more shouts, doors slamming etc – called again to be informed it was a large family that checked into the unit above us At 4am called again because it was still a party above us When mentioned at desk, they just said so sorry, and my requested call from manager who isn’t on duty at all on party weekends never came My first warning should have been release that I had to sign saying I would get charged $250 if I party on site, and then the need to walk me to my room to check and make sure it wasn’t smelly from cigarette smoke

Feels and smells dirty It is old I’m not sure how Marriott has approved this location

2 bedroom units at every other Residence Inn have 2 real bedrooms plus a living room – these units have one room with a bedroom and kitchen, then doors with windows in them for the 2nd bedroom – it is not a a true 2 bedroom like any other Residence Inn Why is it referred to as a “penthouse” on the website???????

I have been a Marriott rewards member for 23 years and I am a Titanium member I usually have about 60-70 stays a year This has been the worst stay ever

I use the mobile app which allows Reward members to bypass the counter and go directly to the room and use the mobile key on my cell to check inI arrived around 9:30 pm and the front staff member Donnjahnik was typing on the computer She saw me walk in the lobby but did not greet me nor acknowledge me but kept typing for another 30 seconds When she looked up there was no greeting but a curt “last name” She then asked me for my license and credit card I told her that the cc isn’t needed when using the mobile app and she replied that it was policy when in fact it is not She then told me that before I could use the mobile app, I needed to have my cc scanned which is a gross deviation from corporate policy In other words, I would need to go through the entire check-in process before I could use my mobile app to check in I told her she was wrong and she said I was rudeShe then told me 3 times I could just leave and go to another hotel and I told her I wasn’t going anywhere Unbelievably she then threatened me 4 times she would check me out and I would need to go to another hotel I finally allowed her to scan my credit card and checked into the roomThere was mold in the shower and the room smelled musty The fan of air conditioner had to run continuously on high to clear the musty smell I attempted to email the office manager but the email was a Gmail account This is very unprofessional for a corporation The email was not replied to I wrote a letter to corporate and I will let you know the reply Bottom line: don’t stay at this hotel

I just stayed at the Fairfield Inn West for 1 week and had a good experience While the elevator wasn’t spotless and the hallways seemed dingy (but not dirty) my room was very clean, the bedding fresh and the bathroom & shower were also clean Because of covid protocols the staff do not enter to clean or deliver fresh towels unless asked, which I actually preferred

The front desk staff were always pleasant, said hello and goodbye when they saw me coming and going The buffet breakfast presented a variety of options My only complaint is the noise level because the walls are thin and my room had a connecting door to an adjoining room, so it provided no soundproofing This is solved by running the room’s fan (and I always bring a white noise sound machine so I can sleep better) There are several fast food restaurants and coffee drive thrus right around the corner, and nearby are plenty of dine-in restaurants I’m overall happy with my experience and if I need to return to the area will stay here again

Only negative about this hotel is that it needs to be updated such as the bathroom/shower Microwave and refrigerator is provided so that’s a plus! One of the housekeepers named angel provided great customer service gave me what I needed and helped found my lost daughter! Beds are comfortable, breakfast was provided Everything was great

Room was about what you would expect for a $100-$140 room, unfortunately it cost over $200 for the night I travel a lot for the organization I belong to and will be in this area quite a bit in the next year Fortunately there are a lot of other choices for places to stay, because I will not go back to this hotel

I reserved the room a month or so in advance online and was told my card would be charged immediately It wasn’tWhen I got there and at no time before, I was told that since I was using a debit card to check in, I also needed to leave a $150 cash deposit Not a big deal, but I know this could have a huge affect on some, like the young gentleman who was checking in after me He told the man at the front desk, who was very rude, that he didn’t have the cash on him Of course there is an ATM in the lobby How convenient?! I know from experience, I’ve rolled into a hotel after midnight and all I want to do is take a shower and go to bed, not try to figure things out that could have been clearly stated in an email or message after confirming a reservationIn order to be on time for the meeting I was attending in the morning, I had to be ready 20 minutes early so the girl at the front desk, who was sleeping, could go up to my room, make sure it was satisfactory and come back downstairs to issue my refundJust not a pleasant experience and I will not be back

Convenient location, rooms were spacious and well furnished Lots of channels on the TV Pool area was nice, friendly staff

Nice hotel breakfast included, with the typical offerings –cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, toast, eggs, waffles, etc Housekeeping came by each day to refresh towels and empty trash Only complaint was the rooms could’ve been cleaner

BUYER BEWARE!!!Choose Best Western at your own riskWe have been fighting fraudulent charges for over a month now The hotel we stayed at charged us an extra $250 after we checked out for “smoking in the room” and “checking out after 12:30”

1 We DON’T smoke and never have I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke2 We were at a dance competition by 10:00 and my kid was onstage at 12:30The hotel refuses to refund the money and corporate refuses to overrule the hotel “It’s up to the hotel to provide any refund they deem necessary”That’s like saying it’s up to a mugger to return your wallet if they decide they don’t want it!!I cannot believe any corporation thinks this is an acceptable way to do business

We were traveling in from Wisconsin for a funeral and we had reserved 3 rooms I called to see if we could get early check in at 1030 that morning and they said two o clock was the earliest they could do That was fine but what wasn’t was that my daughter received a email at 2 o clock saying her room had been canceled and moved to another hotel across town

So when we arrived because she was just gonna stay in her sisters room they informed us that two of three rooms were canceled This was a hour before our funeral that we were struggling to find a hotel to check into to get ready for the funeral We asked for a manager and she was of no help and very very rude She informed us that they overbooked and when asked how did we fit the criteria to have been the ones to get canceled she said “ I don’t know what to tell you? “ There was no compensation offered, a free or discounted room at another time” she said I don’t know what you want me to do Well for future reservations for anyone looking at this hotel Beware!! Cause I can’t hardly think at 2 o clock they realized they overbooked! This was booked the week before as a no changes, or cancellation type room But it’s ok for them Poor business practice

I Booked this hotel thinking all Marriott hotels are equal Not this one This is the worst Marriott I have been to, and I have been to many Marriott hotels

I have provided some pictures of how unclean the room was but those pictures don’t tell the whole story The bed was so uncomfortable they need new Mattresses The Baby Crib was broken and that is all they had This was one of the most horrible experiences I’ve had in a long time

Emily Kather

The management team and front desk staff were absolutely excellent We stayed at this hotel for a U15 soccer tournament in a room block set up for the team On a particularly hot day the staff made up a table in the lobby for the soccer players with ice buckets filled with bottles of ice cold Gatorade and a popcorn station too

Feel that this hotel has a great approach to customer service A warm and inviting experience overall
