My husband spent 2 nights here to celebrate our 3rd anniversary and it was by far the best time We travel a lot out of state and have stayed at many different places But this is our top place so far

The people checking us in were so pleasant and super friendly We ate at the Japanese restaurant and it was the best we have ever had from the service to the food Room was very clean and smelled amazing The area is beautiful and calm We recommend this place to anyone just looking to relax

Genevieve Cyr

Great surprise Didn’t expect much for our one night stay but the location is great by the little river Food was ok, both pool were nice

Decor a little 90’s There was no weird smell you would expect from a hotel of this age Room was clean, staff friendly Breakfast included was a good surprise before hitting the road again Will definitely stop by again if we drive this way again

Alicia Buentiempo

Our room was clean and for the price we were happy Breakfast every morning, with options of their on site restaurants We had our youngest with us, so we loved the family friendly environment

We did see an area for corn hole and an additional pool We lost a phone and the front desk and GM were helpful in shipping it to us We would stay here again

Our room was quiet, comfortable, tastefully decorated and lighted, and spotlessly clean Everyone was so helpful and kind But this was no ordinary perfect hotel! The opulent beauty of the old train station was evident in every area of the hotel

The stained glass, the tile mosaics, the fountains and woodwork – all make this a fantastic experience that we would love to come back again to And the food offered at Carmen’s and Trax was also excellent! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Joshua Clink

It is all about expectations When I first got here I felt disappointed but when I looked back on the information about the hotel, I realize I was expecting the hotel to be something its not There are not a lot of amenities but they embrace being a simple hotel done well

All the staff is friendly and helpful I never tried Carmen’s but it looks nice and the menu is easy to find Trax was good and had convenient hours The location is extremely convenient, walking distance to the mall and most of downtown And it is right at the entrance to the highway It is a beautiful and historic structure that is well cleaned

Rūta Povilaitytė

Looks good in the photos but needs renovation Our room smelled very bad, like chlorine, as well as the corridor and the elevator The windows do not open in our room and it was difficult to get rid of the smell by using air ventilation, but in a few hours it got better

Also, they charged us +70 dollars for a dog for one night, but there was nothing for the dog in there, neither dog bed or bowls or at least treats, nothingThe place has parking and the room is large, the bed is large and comfortable Apart from the chlorine smell, it was quite clean It has amenities like a tea machine, towels and self hygiene amenities (shower gel, shampoo, ), but they do not smell goodOverall it was OK for one night, I would come back again if not the chlorine smell

Decent hotel to get a good night’s rest, wasn’t impressed with breakfast at all so much so I decided to skip it the next day, because to be honest that’s you look forward to when you wake up is to have some fresh scrambled eggs with sausages and bacon but that wasn’t the case We didn’t get to use the pool because it was closed for maintenance and nobody knew when it would reopen so that was a big disappointment Nonetheless we went to a water park 25 minutes away and had fun there

So the stay was okHowever we had a 9mm pistol come up missing from the room on our last night there conveniently after letting house keeping In to make the bed I’m not accusing anyone but still

do the mathUPDATE 12822 Roz the manager contacted me in regards to this theft Her rude personality right off the jump let me know that she has no business working in the hospitality industry After I explained to her that I am the victim here she became irate and advised that a theft of a handgun has only happened 3x in 5 years Well, that seems excessive Furthermore after it became apparent that she was not on the side of justice I disconnected the call With in 5 minutes she showed up at my place of employment (pulling the info from my previous stay) and had to be threatened with trespass and police interaction to leave I can not believe you are in any position of authority Roz and a formal complaint is being filed I’d find any other hotel in the area besides this one

Ashley Bryant

TERRIBLEAs soon as we arrived paying 137$ for a room for One night I expected far more!As soon as we walked into the room the smell was absolutely insane It smelt like

Dirty, wet, feet Dog idk it was discusting Then shortly after our SIX year old found GLASS Yes, GLASS in the bedI called the front desk explaining everything, she was brief saying she couldn’t do anything about it however she would let her manager know They couldn’t give us another room or help us in any way

pet friendly!!! very nice place spacious, clean, kitchen with stove top, microwave, refrigerator, King bed – very much like a studio apartment location is weird – gotta drive almost all the way around a mall to get to it

parking is right in front of the place and numerous spaces great place to stay I’m usually a Hilton chain person but I’m swayed now

Stephen Schubert

So to preface, we booked this hotel with the knowledge that it would be 100% occupied due to a festival in the area I booked our stay 5 months ago I’m a Marriott rewards member and ALWAYS request a quiet room away from the elevators and other high traffic points due to my sleep challenges

I even went so far to call the hotel 3 days before my arrival to reiterate the request Needless to say, they put me in a room right above the air condenser to the main lobby which buzzed all night and couldn’t move me to another location because they were sold out The room was initially only provided with 2 bath towels (we were 4 in the room) so I had to ask for more, and had to “wait” for housekeeping to finish laundry I also had to ask for bedding and linens for the pull-out sofa that should have been stored in the closet The toilet got stopped up at 2am and the phone in the room didn’t work so I had to call the front desk with my cellphone to request assistance At breakfast, which goes until 9:30, they ran out of the hot meal option before 9:00 and wouldn’t make more (so what’s the point of it being “included”)? I’ve stayed at many Residence Inns throughout the country (and even stayed here 3 years ago) and this was by far the worst I’ve experienced for this quality of hotel (at $399/night) The manager did adjust my rate as a courtesy, but I will have to rethink staying here again if I ever return to Scranton

Doris Oneill

We were in town to meet with family under unfortunate circumstances The amount of help we received from the employees here was the greatest Erin sent us to a beautiful family owned restaurant which we enjoyed immensely

She also showed us so much compassion and we really felt that Thank youMicheal was a kind young man and kept us laughing Cozy place made us all feel welcome

When you walk in the smell of cleanliness greets you like a warm hug The front desk clerk named DJ was super nice and had a lovely smile We took our kids for the pool for a weekend and we all enjoyed it very much

The hot breakfast they provided was great! Two different kinds of sausage, warm eggs and a waffle maker that gave us delicious waffles for our girls An excellent place to hideaway We’ll definitely be back soon!

Reeked of cigarette and marijuana smoke, Guests actively smoking Hotel staff inept Apathetic Hotel advertises itself as Non Smoking facility

Upon check in large sign at front desk reads “We are 100% non smoking” Guests are required to sign financial acceptance of fees incurred in discovered smoking Exiting elevator to our floor immediately we were disgusted by the powerful odor of both cigarettes and marijuana smoke It was pervasive I went to front desk to complain and was told by clerk, “we have no way of targeting what guests are smoking” I replied then come to the floor with me and I will show you exactly the rooms it is emanating from he said he would be right up I waited in our corridor he never showed and i watched as a guest exited her room with lit cigarette and went down back stairs Obviously the smoke detectors in the rooms and corridors are disabled or non working properly Smoke poured out of the room as she exited What is the point of having a policy you don’t enforce and falsely advertise you are non smoking when you are not This presents a health and safety issue to all guests Fire risk Guests with lung and breathing issues at risk Went down to front desk and told them we were leaving Reason failure to adhere to the nonsmoking policy they publicize Contacted Customer Service at Choice hotels parent company Complete joke Useless DO NOT STAY HERE

Terry Kay

Cleanliness was decent and bed was comfortable But like someone else said, staff are inept I complained 4 times between 11pm and 12pm about noise next door to me and they did nothing to solve the problem

Then at midnight the staff came and pounded on MY door Sure they have decent beds, but if they don’t uphold their quiet time policy and you can’t sleep, what have you paid for?My hotel last night had truly professional staff These folks could not be any more unprofessional I highly recommend that you seek a bed somewhere else

When we arrived we found the place to be well maintained and the inside to be very clean The lobby is very warm, especially for it to be a summer day they had it too warm inside which made waiting for help at the desk unpleasant But it is pretty here and they provide cool water in the lobby

Our room is pretty and clean LOTS of closet and storage space, and a small kitchen!! I was not terribly happy to return to our hotel after dark to find the parking lot completely dark!!! I’m with my daughter and as 2 females in an unfamiliar area this was a bit scary So I spoke to the lady at the desk and she had no idea why they weren’t on after 9pm and when I asked if there was a way to get them on her response was “I don’t know, it’s my first day back” And she wasn’t terribly friendly but I felt bad for her However, I will say when I had to go out to my car a mere 10 minutes later the lot lights were on, so someone knew what to do The pool and exercise rooms look clean although small Overall I think I would reccomend this place just for the rooms alone so far We will try the breakfast in the morning

Camille Dickinson

The best thing about this place is the location Several restaurants around, a movie theater and a small mall But save yourself the hassle and book with one of the other hotels

The rooms are badly maintained The wall next to the door had a hole in it – looks like someone slammed the door into it The bathroom had bad patch jobs on the wall with peeling tape The toilet seat was stained But the cherry on top was Tatiana at the front When we checked in on the Saturday, she acted as if it was the biggest inconvenience in the world Like we were actually bothering her by asking her to do her job And her attitude carried over to the next day when we were checking out Check out is at 11 And I understand that We asked if it could be pushed to noon, first because I wasn’t feeling well and we had a long drive ahead of us and I wanted to be sure that I wouldn’t get car sick Second because Gold and above members do get late check outs And we were only asking for an hour That didn’t suit Miss Tatiana who was rude and yelled at my better half for even daring to ask for a courtesy that he’s entitled to I’d say she needs a bit more training but there are other reviews that refer to the rude front desk So perhaps she needs a whole new career If this is the kind of service that Marriott condones, then quite frankly I’m all for giving up the Marriot Credit Card and switching loyalty to some other chain

Jessica Samyn

This place was awful for a Marriot We arrive at the hotel around 9pm , the lady was chatting on her phone Place was no clean at all

The towel at the pool were everywhere, none were clean Dogs were at the pool I had to advise the reception Wifi and TV were not working I trying calling the reception many many times , no answer Room were very dirty, hair in the tub, window very dirty Morning breakfeast was sausage, bacon and egg Coffee was awful I paid 356$ usd the nigh , they charge me 515$ cdn I ask to speak the manager it’s been 2 days and nobody called me I called back today they told me manager is not there I am dissapointed in the service for that expensive for the hotel

Great experience, relaxing, beds were amazing, staff was polite and eager to help, rooms were super clean and roomy They have an inside pool, it’s a little small for a hotel that size but it was clean, had a nice fire pit outside, it was very cold out so it was nice to sit by while smoking The breakfast was good, they had an ok variety

Will definitely stay there again!

Dani McDermott

Staff was absolutely wonderful and very agreeable It was lovely service Moved me to a better room

Better view and roomier bc the first one my wheelchair kept hitting the walls, but that could have been my daughter’s maneuvering, lol Not handicap friendly, but then again neither are most people when you’re trying to get in an elevator Shame Walls are waaay too thin! ‘Nough said But overall great stayAlso hilarious, can’t reach microwave, too high! lol

Marco

Management is lacking I was overcharged for two nights and been pushed from pillar to post trying to have it corrected Spoke with two members of management and three members of Marriott customer service

Someone from customer service is finally correcting the hotel’s error I recommend any other hotel in the area if you want to avoid a headache and lost time

The food is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere outside is really cool The back bar is awesome Unfortunately my only concern is the service

Very, very slow Mostly it is kids who are lackadaisically walking around and all talking to each other in a small area Even on not busy nights, the service isn’t good The bartender is great though and the food again is very good, that is why we come back Just wish the service would be a bit better

David Tigue

Ambiance 5/5 Drinks 4/5 Food quality 4/5

this is where it goes awry portions 1/5 now things like burgers and the such look about perfect for their price Got the brisket special about 30 dollars Got about 5 bacon sized slices of brisket and a small amount of potatoes Paella good on the meat portions, but little rice and over salted Calamari app was fantastic Overall not bad Wouldn’t order an entree again I don’t think But for lunch a burger why not

Michelle Sitko

The hostess went out of her way to make us feel welcome tonight The food was delicious and the Cosmopolitans were perfect I like going earlier so I can hear the conversation at the table before the restaurant and bar fill up

Many positive changes under new management Will def put it back on my places to go out and eat at again!

Had a bad experience at another hotel and left the same day within a couple of minutes of being there Just booked another hotel in a couple of minutes and went to the hotel The lady at the front desk was very kind

Went up to my room and the room was very nice and it was clean It has like a hidden mini fridge, microwave, and ice bucket which I liked cause it wasn’t in the way and didn’t take up more room The bathroom was clean and there was lots of towels and wash clothes The tv was in a mount so you could turn to watch it while sitting on the bed 10/10 would recommend and would come back if in the area again Hotel is in a convenient area

Nydia B

The hotel is beautiful and in an awesome location! My issue is the lack of care by some on the staff and management We had an issue during our stay we brought it to the attention of the clerk who DID NOTHING

I called and asked for a manager, this is the kicker, the manager answered and identified herself by name and asked how could she help me I said yes, I have been trying to reach you This lady said, please hold a second Not to long after a clerk picks up and says, the manager is not available and won’t be until the next day I was so shocked and get this 3 weeks later this property still have my small incidental charge being held I definitely upstream this with proof of everything that took place and the lack of addressing the issue It may not happen today or tomorrow but, it’s coming! To pretend to not be at work in hopes of not dealing with an issue is horrible and this manager needs Coaching!

Ryan

The room was clean on our arrival and the staff is very niceWe typically stay at Marriotts when we travel Our room this time has the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in my life

The extra firm mattress woke both of us multiple times in the night and we both woke up with back and shoulder pain

I was scheduled to attend an afternoon event in a nearby town and needed to spend one night in a hotel before driving back to Philadelphia The Anthracite seemed nice and I didn’t mind the price, although not inexpensive, for a Saturday night in summer season I checked in, had a light and pleasant dinner on the terrace (the wait staff was very nice), and returned to my room (room was clean and comfortable, except for stained carpet)

I went to bed at 11 pm and was woken up a couple hours later by a party Loud talking, shrieking and laughing, kids running up and down the halls and into and out of a couple of the roomsI finally called the front desk at 2:30 am and eventually it quieted down I barely got any sleep When I went to get coffee in the morning, there was a large pile of discarded Domino Pizza boxes in the coffee room, plus a case of empty Bud cans (I overheard two cleaning staff members talking about it who expressed consternation) I asked the front desk if that type of party in the hotel was commonplace Front desk said there were two wedding parties and that the weekends were often noisy Barely an apology; more of a shrug I spent $250 with the expectation of not only getting a bed in a room, but actually getting some sleep Is this not the primary function of a hotel? Instead it seemed I was expected to understand that the presence of a wedding party made my expectation of a good night’s sleep a very low priority, take it or leave itFurther, I find it extremely surprising that the hotel would allow a group to take over a public room of the hotel, in full sight of the front desk, to consume alcohol brought in from an outside source Certainly, if was the same kids that ended up partying on the 3rd floor, they didn’t look old enought to legally consume alcohol Then again, at 2:30 in the morning, I was seeing red and not checking ID’sA sincere apology from the front desk would have really been appreciated Instead, there was no sense of concern whatsoever Either the product of apathy or lack of professional training, I’m not sure which

Spacious room with two queen beds and a sleep sofa With all in use and four guests we still had room to be comfortable Microwave and refrigerator in the room

Nice work desk set up with plenty of outlets and space which also served to separate the two beds from the sleep sofa All the staff was helpful and friendly I fell in love with the cucumber infused water in the lobby! And the breakfast, included for free, was the best I’ve had in a long time Of course a make your own waffle machine, excellent coffee, eggs bacon, pound cake, delicious mini quiches on Sunday And it was open at 6:30 or sometimes even a little earlier so we were able to get breakfast before our early departures for kayaking on the Lehigh Great location for all the tourist attractions, shopping and conveniences Our kayaking trip felt luxurious The bathroom was oddly large with only one towel bar and not a hook to be found anywhere Overall a great stay

My husband and I loved how comfortable the bed was the shower seems like it had endless hot waterthe rooms were very clean and the reception at the desk was very friendly and helpful whenever we had a question about something! The different kind of water in the lobby were amazing the best flavor was the strawberry! The morning breakfast were amazing expeecially not that far from our room and the chairs and fire pit was very nice out side! We found out favorite place to stay and when we come back down to the area again we found out perfect spot!!! Loved it here and it went bye 2 quickly I told my husband 2 days isn’t enough 😂

I stayed twice, different rooms But that maintenance issues that I reported to the front desk (one issue two times) they were never taken care ofIn one room, a bedside table was missing

(Where to put stuff?) One bathroom shower door opened so that I could not reach the shower controls without getting into the shower first I like to let the cold water flow out so the water can be warm when I do get into itZero complaints about the staff I interacted with, all were cheerful and went out of the way to make my stay that much better The rooms were lackingReader, is any review here helps you to decide, please give that review a thumbs up!

The staff here are extremely friendly, down to earth, and accommodating My room was spotless and the housekeepers were very friendly I didn’t even have to ask for replacement towels or amenities

The last hotel I was at (Sleep Inn in Dunmore, PA) was like pulling teeth just to get a towel and a roll of toilet paper every 3-4 days! Not to mention the head of housekeepers was extremely rude and argued, screamed at, and called me “scrap” to my face- not here though! I would recommend this location to anyone It’s peaceful, quiet, and no issues or drama the way I experienced at Sleep Inn What a breath of fresh air They have a nice selection of breakfast items every morning, and coffee and hot tea available 24/7 They also have a gym and laundry facilities available 10 out of 10

The staff is wonderful! So kind and attentive The beds were clean and comfy The breakfast was so good

You can make your own hot Belgian waffles and they have powdered sugar and syrup Mmmmm! Muffins, fruit, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, juices, coffee I didn’t have cash to tip the housekeeper Molly, so I found she has a boyfriend working there, and I was able to venmo him her tip Again, all super friendly people! Very affordable!

Booked through a 3rd party booking site as it said dogs were allowed Checked in and walked into the lobby with dogs and was told they were not allowed It was nearing midnight and we were driving through the area and ended up having to go down the road another 45 minutes to a pet-friendly hotel

Microtel refused to refund us for the 2 rooms we did not stay in that night, and the next day the manager accused my wife and me of being on video sneaking the dogs into a room When I challenged them to review the video, they conceded that we had not stayed in the rooms and had left the hotel They would still only refund 1 of the 2 rooms Very dissatisfied, I have never stayed at a Microtel before, and I will never give them any of my money ever again Plenty of other choices where customers are treated fairly

It’s really and exemplary Hampton Inn and what I expect of a Hilton chain I highly recommend it for a stopover (which I did here) and also extended stay Free coffee in lobby and plenty of snacks to purchase Beautiful lobby

We have stayed at this hotel several times and it’s consistently well maintained, convenient, pet friendly with helpful friendly staff This trip we accidentally left an article and 30 minutes later when we discovered our oversight I called the front desk, the clerk immediately sent the housekeeping supervisor up to the room The article was found and placed in the safe for us to retrieve on our return trip

We were so thankful for the immediate action

Perfect room size for our family (of 5) and the high ceilings made it feel even bigger Great attention to detail with small things – great breakfast options, clean pool, outdoor patio (great for enjoying breakfast or complimentary cookies!), and eco-friendly soap/shampoo setups in the bathroom Located near restaurants and a mall, so seems like a good location (Scranton is surprisingly scenic) but were just passing through, so i don’t know if it’s well-located otherwise

Not a lot of staff interactions, but the ones we met were friendly and helpful

My fiancé & 2 1/2 year old son & I stayed here for 3 nights & 4 days & we had an AMAZING time! Our son absolutely loved the pool & the scenery is so beautiful! The hotel is literally on top of a mountain & is so gorgeous! You can literally see for miles! Two employees that had a huge impact on us were Deidre & Jill They seriously went above & beyond for us everyday & were so kind & courteous! They really helped make our stay feel like home & we can’t thank them enough for that!! We cannot wait to come back!!! If you are looking for a fun place to stay & make memories with your family Courtyard Marriott Montage Mountain is the place to go!!!!

The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly They meet every need and solved every concern The lobby and rooms were nicely decorated and very clean

The pool and spa were comfortably heated The hotel is conveniently located close to shopping, movies, water park (ski resort), the Lackawanna Coal Mines and Steamtown where you can tour the museums and take a train ride

Very unfortunate because I’ve stayed at Courtyard’s numerous times with no issue Arrived after midnight due to travel and was told our King room wasn’t available but there was a Double room Elevator wasn’t working but made it to third floor and opened the door to find someone in the room

After speaking with another Marriott employee it was expressed that this is a known issue and the staff unfortunately doesn’t receive adequate training and the systems are outdated I would save yourself any potential headache and stay at any other hotel at Montage (the Fairfield was great and very accommodating for our almost 3AM check-in) Front desk staff is at a disadvantage due to poor management, I’d rather give my business to a management staff that cares about their employeesUpdate: Assistant General Manager called me within a day of my review and expressed her utmost apologies and that the hotel is going through management changes (she’s new within the past month) She was very genuine and made this unfortunate event right Willing to give them another try next time I’m in town
