I am currently staying here, and to say it is amazing is an understatement Everything has been perfect The grounds are clean, rooms are vibrant (and have great A/C)

The beach in the front is spacious and has comfy lounge chairs The best part is the staff! Everyone is so amazing and caring Spirits are high at this resort and it has been a ton of fun I would highly recommend staying at this property if you get the chance 100%!!

Gorgeous hotel with amazing views and two great pools The adults only pool is unbeatable because it’s quiet, has poolside service, and it’s heated! You could truly sit there and read all day There are plenty of great spots for photos or sunset watching, a hiking trail, and a nearby sister hotel if you’d like to explore

All of the food here is good, but it’s pretty limited Since the hotel is a little isolated, you really need to plan ahead for dinner and make reservations or you’ll be stuck eating at the pool restaurant every nightCan’t wait to come back!

Best place to relax and see the beautiful sunset We spotted every morning a whale from our room which was really cool We met the best bartender Jerry and Bruce who are legends and have been there for many years

They were always taking care of us with food and drinks As well as the rest of the staff Other than that the pools, hot tubs are great and warm to just relax all day long The sunset is awesome to see it from the beach and take cool photos

The grounds were gorgeous The staff was lovely The amenities were excellent

The bed was perfect for one of us and a little hard for the other The view of our garden from our patio was as beautiful as anything on the entire island I don’t know what’s wrong with the people who gave this place one star I think they must take negativity with them everywhere they go

Ralph Roe

Tremendous stay from the minute we arrived until we completed check-out Staff was friendly and professional and seemed to care that we were being taken care of The facility is magnificent

With the ability to use the other Hilton facilities, it opens up another opportunity to see more The two bedroom we stayed in was absolutely perfect for our stay Clean and fresh All appliances worked well and the washer/dryer is a blessing when staying a week Not sure when I will visit this site again because there are so many places still on our list, but this is definitely worth another relaxing visit About 20-25 minutes north of the Kona airport, the transit is easy So much to see within a couple hours of the Kohala Suites 1 1/2 hours to Hilo Less than an hour to Waimea and about 25 hours from Volcano National Park This was one of the best vacations we have ever taken

Lindsey Dillon

The resort itself is beautiful, staff is friendly and accommodating BUT our room was infested with roaches Like not a few an entire freaking army of them Roaches came out of the knobs on the stove, an entire family was living in the coffee pot, the bathroom had large and small roaches scurrying over the walls

I’ve stayed in many Hawaiian resorts and never seen as many roaches in the rooms as I have here Their solution was putting a few sticky traps, which did nothing

We have a family of 5 and just stayed here for 9 days We absolutely loved it! Our unit was nice, clean, and way bigger than I expected! I didnt want to leave the bed, it was so comfortable! The grounds are always kept so nice, the pool area is really fun and the lady running the pool area was so sweet! It was also very quite! We would definitely stay here again!!

Heather 23H

We’ve come here several times over 20 years It’s been great and has had a few upgrades over time Kitchens are well stocked and the trade winds provide enough breeze to avoid paying extra for AC

I would’ve liked more towels overall but that’s an easy call to the front desk Pool area is nice and a fun game room is on site Gym is tiny but they have one Fifteen minutes from the shore but a nice drive back and forth, with a few local amenities with a KTA grocery store and some restaurants just around the corner

This resort is excellent, from the top down From the moment you arrive, the staff and management makes sure you have the entire Hawaiian experience We were greeted with leis and Hawaiian drinks at valet, walked to the front desk and seamlessly checked in

William Apa, one of the resort managers that happened to be at the front desk, also took the time to walk us to our room and showed us the various facilities Our ocean front room was exceptional The room is very clean and everything is brand new and renovated It didn’t lack a single thing The bathroom supplies are perfect, and the outdoor patio area is amazing The pool and staff are also incredible The pools are beautiful, well kept and clean They have great outdoor games like corn hole, and plenty of equipment to enjoy the day (snorkels, footballs, etc) We didn’t bring our 3 young kids, but it’s certainly a kid-friendly hotel Their food is also far-above average and exceptional Often times resorts lack in their food quality, but not this resort The Canoe House is one of the best restaurants in the world – and we’ve visited numerous throughout the world The room service and other restaurants and bars are also fantastic Overall, this place can’t get much better!

Jessica Rodriguez

I stayed at the Mauna Lani Resort for a week The staff is incredibly polite, housekeeping was wonderful, and food was delicious The sunrise canoe experience was amazing, highly recommend! The guys at the surf shack were very informative and well knowledgeable in the Hawaiian culture and history

We had an unfortunate event happen to us where there was some flooding that occurred in our room due to heavy rain the day before we left Some of our personal items got ruined and all of our newly bought items as well Matt – with management, and his team, was quick to rectify the situation and went above and beyond our expectations Although the incident was upsetting, Matt made sure to take care of us so the rest of our stay was enjoyable To be quite honest, the flooding incident doesn’t even cross our minds due to the fact that the issue was resolved in its entirety It was as if it never happened Great all around experience and exceptional customer service!!! If we ever stay again on the big island, we will be coming here

Marcin Wilczak

What a great experience, the entire facility looks upgraded even though they might be working on some aspects The view from the oceanfront rooms was perfect, they were really able to take 70’s architecture and make it modern The open, shaded space of the hotel is just extraordinary, all the private spaces to sit at, all the couches, hammocks spread around the space with perfect mix of palms and other plants just creates a paradise feel

The outdoor gym was a plus Almost entirety of the hotel is outdoors, an open space under a huge lanai, which doesn’t require having a mask Restaurant breakfast was outdoors and it was delicious The oceanfront cabanas were underutilized but are amazing, for $375 you can get the cabanas afternoon which come with beer, lotions, two drinks from alcohol menu and two appetizers It’s $450 the entire day

Grounds and Oceanside location were great Staff were very friendly Events staff and setup were beautiful

Actual hotel room itself was not very clean Arrived to dead bugs on floor and corners of room were clearly not cleaned Hotel staff did not replace coffee in coffee bar most mornings and when they did, they left decaf only Large towel on tub rack had clearly been there for some time as was green/black from mold/mildew Expected better for price

Suz Young

Location is spectacular! Grounds are beautiful! Resort fee of $35/person per day is pretty stressful especially since we spent most of our days on excursions but the Breakfast Buffet was very nice (perhaps could have had a little more diversity from day to day) but the food was good This is our third time here but is pricey Every time we snorkeled in the beach we saw turtles so that was a huge win for us! Our housekeeper Henny was excellent!! Enjoy

Nice units, though most have a lot of “rules”Only single parking spaces with no guest parking so you will need to use the garage, if you fit, for a second carLots of renting, so check the pantry/closets for things you think you might need like coffee filters or detergent

2nd pool closed for maintenance, which is too bad, as the pools are on the smaller side to begin with Big complex so you can be far from others in your party if you can’t get units togetherWould repeat, but would look to other options first

Kate Watson

A nice little townhome community in Waikoloa Beach They emphasize that this is an owner residences community vs a resort and, as a result, it’s a pretty chill environment

If you want lots of people and activity options, go to a resort The pool/hot tub and workout rooms are small but were never crowded At most we saw only one other couple when we went It’s an easy walk to Buddha Point, the beach, and other local sights One downside is that these units aren’t well insulated so we heard our neighbors (particularly one next door who played Doom-like video games every night)

Caitlin Kingsbury/Dunlap

The location is great The staff is awesome It needs to be cleaned better prior to the stay and repairs need done to the appliances

Lighting is poor in the pool making it a bit dangerous for elderly and children They have free roaming cats and goats right outside the rooms that my kids LOVED The animals stayed far away so they didn’t bother us and we didn’t need to worry about Allergies but it was fun to watch them from far away The space itself was a nice size though and if we were guaranteed the repairs were made and the room was cleaned up better we would go back

kyle gable

If you have kids and are debating between this and Hilton Waikoloa Village (like we were), pick Kings Land 100%!!!!! The regular Hilton is WAY too big and the pools aren’t as nice (and you still get access to them staying at Kings Land) The Kings Land pools and slides are SO fun (their website doesn’t do them justice – there are multiple slides and pools!) Having a suite with full kitchen, washer/dryer, etc with kids is unbeatable! Driving/parking access is so convenient

Your own Lanai! Staff are incredibly friendly The whole resort is beautiful and well thought out The only issue we had was that the bigger slides were closed for most of our stay due to high winds which was a total bummer cause they are so fun (and we thought they could have had a better system to still have the lifeguard on stand and open the slides) – they did eventually send a manager to operate them and open them on our last day even in the wind which we were thankful for Otherwise everything was absolutely fantastic and we will be back! Highly recommend!

Angeline Bernier

The staff was kind friendly and inviting The hotel room was beautiful and immaculate Toilet paper was brought up promptly

There was so many activities for everyone to participate in No drinking and driving on this property, because they provide shuttles! We missed our shuttle and they promptly directed me where to go and sent a shuttle for me afterhours! Definitely worth the money you pay Would absolutely recommend to others and would stay again For budgeting people with children, there’s tons of activities for children and adults alike They also have a safe beach area The authentic performers and music were amazing sets a great tone for newcomers visiting the beautiful Big Island

What a delightful place to stay! My partner and I stayed there for two nights at the end of a two and a half week vacation on the big island, so we had several other places to compare it to Jacqueline’s house is lovely and tastefully appointed It was comfortable and quiet and in a great location

The breakfast that was provided was creative and simply delicious Jacqueline joined the guests at the breakfast table after making sure we were all well fed and coffee cups were filled for a rich exchange of conversation and travel tips I highly recommend the Wayside B and B!

This review is about the Aloha spirit of the owner of the Waipio Wayside BnB We were caught without lodging for the night after not receiving confirmation on a reservation at an AirBnB and this owner offered us a last minute place even though it would have been a great inconvenience She was gracious and so helpful to us and we look forward to staying at her home in the future
