I am a customer who booked a room at the Vine Inn for two days in April, 2022 The stay was unpleasant due to unsatisfactory maintenance and terrible service there, and I will try to tell the story as objectively as possible:1 Upon arrival, the parking lot was full

Their parking lot has approximately 14 spots for more than 20 units, so complimentary parking advertised on their website is not guaranteed I was instructed by the front desk to park on the street2 Upon entering the room, there was an unwashed mug below the coffee maker with coffee stain on it The room was recently remodeled so the overall quality is fine Specifically, the TV was nice and new so I tried to turn the TV on but could not find the remote I tried to call front desk but the telephone had no “front desk” label and neither was any instructions or labels nearby I then walked to the front desk (~10-11PM) but it was locked down, so I went back to my room to do some work but there was no pen and paper provided in the room3 In the next morning, I received a ticket for parking on the street The fine amount was 50 dollars Then did I realize that from 8AM-6PM there is only 2-hour parking at downtown Davis, but these angled parking spots do not have signs at each spot like mostly everywhere else The sign is ~100 feet away near the intersection so it is hard to be found at night I was not informed by the front desk about limited street parking4 When I went to the front desk to file a complaint, I requested to talk with the supervisor and cancel the second night for staying with a full refund (yes, only the second night that I am not staying) I was told that the supervisor was not there today I then requested the supervisor’s phone number to explain the issues and discuss a solution, but I was told that they cannot give me the phone number I therefore requested the front desk to call the supervisor and pass on the message or make a decision on behalf of the supervisor, the request was also declined I was told that I have to email the supervisor myself via their general info email address At this point, it seems obvious that they do not want to resolve this issue at all I did persist and send the email according to their suggestion, and I also attached my phone number and requested a phone call, but there is no surprise that I have never heard from them since then I am writing this review four days or two business days after my stayBelow is my subjective opinion: the issues above were only minor issues and very easy to resolve, but the way they handled this showed how poor their service and management were They could have canceled the second night and given me their hotel credit for one night’s worth or at least the equal fifty dollars for the parking ticket (even though everybody knows that I am never coming back), but they have chosen to waste 15 minutes of my life writing down this long review If you are choosing to live at downtown Davis, just stay in the Hilton nearby The dollars saved is not worth ruining your trip

Overall, a decent option if you want to be in downtown Davis Unfortunately the room phone does not have a button to call the front desk At 1:40 am, a group was hanging out right outside our room and had a very loud conversation while drinking for over 30 minutes

We tried calling the normal phone number of the hotel, but no one picked up Unfortunately no one from the hotel was there to help monitor the noise and my partner had to ask the group to be quiet multiple times

This place is such a great option for the price point! The rooms are small (no closet, for example—very minimalist) but very thoughtfully furnished, so even though they’re streamlined everything that’s in there is really nice I absolutely fell in love with the sheets, haha! I think I told everyone we saw the whole week about them The bathroom had been tastefully and recently remodeled too

Great location in downtown, walkable to all the best food and coffee Overall if you’re looking for a less expensive option in Davis (and understand that you’re not booking a luxury hotel, but a very luxurious motel as budget options go) this was a great bang for our buck!

Hotel by itself was just fine But the attitude of front desk management is horrible and not comer friendly I booked and intended to stay on a thursday but as I wasn’t feeling well I was forced to extend by another day

I called in to tell the front desk that Next day as I check out I was charged more than 16 times for the extension ($165) On checking I saw the web price was $143 & asked for that, but was refused I was told to talk to the manager & inspire of leaving messages few times, there was no call back Finally I called back, to be simply told that it was responsibility to check price and not theirs & nothing can be done But there is no customer friendliness to this place – Seems to be focused on maximizing their revenues

Michelle 2001

Loved the location as there were a good chunk of eateries, they do serve complimentary breakfast from 6:00am to 9:00am Mon through Sun However, the front desk service was okay, not too personable like other best western’s or holiday inns, doubletrees, Hilton’s, or Hampton inns At least there was someone at the desk at all times unlike the Holiday Inn in Corning CA though

Also, the weatherstripping on the door was gone, and throughout the night as I was playing the television 📺 I’d find a random bug flying inside from under the door at full speed, either moths, flying roaches, or beetles and crickets They aren’t pet friendly, and they tell you upfront that if they find a pet you’ll be charged an additional cleaning feeThey do have a pool which had plenty of visitors inside of it, cable, and ice machines No elevator 🛗 though, so you may want to request a downstairs room if there is a physical limitation to climb the stairs Unlike the doubletree in Petaluma the parking is freeI thought the rooms were very clean, they smelled nice unlike other hotels that have the old carpet scent, and their heaters/fans run on a thermostat unlike other old hotels that don’t have a thermostat and have you waking up at all hours of the night to turn on/off the heater/fan

Front desk lady is RUDE and not helpful! Mr Cook the general manager this am was in rant that I DESTROYED them on social media, also blamed me that no supervisors were on site for 2 days and didn’t give em time to rectify Mr cook it’s your job to staff your hotel NOT MINE and based on other reviews your FRONT DESK is and has been a problem! Enjoy your call with CORPORATE BIG WIGS

Only entrance is through the Lobby There are exits, but you can NOT use your room key to get inside There was less than foot of clearance between the A/C unit and the bed

Supposedly a suite, but the only TV is small and at the foot of the bed Sitting on the sofa in the living room area, you look at a black wall above a table that would be perfect for a TV

Spencer Manners

Location is just off I-80, Hwy 113 exit Lots of fast food options within 1 block Sit down restaurants nearby

Grocery stores within walking distanceLobby and Rooms just like in the photos Neat, clean and modernFriendly staffBreakfast included and goodExcellent value

The hotel is nice It is very clean and easy to find and was a decent price in the area It is close to many resturants, gas stations and stores and not far from the freeway

However, the road noise is very loud, even on the 2nd floor And busses start running and heavy traffic starts at about 6am The complimentary breakfast is very good, and the eating area is nice

Stayed there for 5 weeks except for weekends Nice rooms A little dated but the kitchen is appreciated

I learned to set my alarm 10 minutes early as that’s how long it took for hot water to arrive in my rooms (third floor) The problem began at the 4th week where I noticed that they had billed my incidental credit card for the week stay, which was prepaid Then $100 On a Saturday The following week $60 It was explained to me that the $60 was for parking which I was never told about or billed the previous 4 weeks When you check in, they ask you if you are parking there and fill out a permit for you With no discussion of any fees After wrongly billing me for almost $900 for the weeks stay, management agreed to remove all other fees Nope $60 was billed to my account Its a nice place to stay but I will not return as I feel I shouldn’t have to monitor my credit card for excessive fees and mis-billing I still would like my $60 back please

We have stayed here several times when we visit family, and previously have had no problems whatsoever We are only giving it an “Okay” rating because of two things First, upon arrival we were charged a “Room Deposit” of $75

00 without being advised that they were going to do so, and secondly upon check out we were charged a $500 “Service Fee” The room deposit was refunded because we do not smoke and we do not have pets The “service fee” has not been refunded and the receptionist said “it’s a tax” The attitude and lack of explanations were very disconcerting to say the least! It has made us resolve to stay elsewhere for our next visit

The continental breakfast was generous and yummy: petite cheese omelets, bacon and sausage, mixed fruit, and a lot more The staff were all courteous, even the cleaning crew This is a dog-friendly hotel (hence the jars of dog biscuits at the front desk)

Only complaints are cosmetic: some paint chipping, wonky wi-fi, a bad deskside USB port, a temperamental mini fridge, and the hotel room door was a bit heavy to open Overall, a good place for an in-town holiday

Quiet, relaxing stay, very affordably priced UC Davis graduation weekend and hotels were astronomical everywhere–making this hotel a bargain at $90 It is an oasis tucked between 80, Grocery Outlet and Olive Garden (the original site of the historic Coffee Tree)

This place feels a bit slower paced and less modern, even nostalgic, like upscale hotels were in the 1980s, w/ grass and greenery and a patio area with globed lamps lighting the paths to the lobby We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and garden sitting areas Access to our room was from an easy flight of stairs, and the room had everything we needed (mini fridge, microwave, coffee) and was very clean As far as driving goes, the “in and out” could be better, but it is a nice little oasis The café area is a bit pricey, but very nice, modern, and clean The lady in charge made a huge impression–with excellent service, making sure we had coffee mugs instead of paper cups, and never let them run dry She told us that the property was very military friendly and she (retired 68W) was able to have her daughter work there too, a peaceful and welcome life’s change Great place Definitely will be back

Lena Castronova

I was expecting a large breakfast as I read so many times in various places I went to the lobby and was very disappointed when I gleaned you order your breakfast from the Starbucks inside and you pay for it Around 10$ to 13$

I felt lied to and was really beside myself when the motel 6 has breakfast and choices as well What’s going on theses days with all these companies not giving a damn! No one cares about much these days! Human beings have given up on everything it seems

It was nice and comfy and not too expensive, the clerk at the front was nice and explained everythingI overall enjoyed my stay, I’d compare it to the holiday inn express next door, oh and yes free parking and free wifi, nice size flat screen, clean bathroom, comfy pillows and convenient highway access, close enough to nearby stores etc and jelly belly factory

Duana was WONDERFUL! She booked our room for us, and every interaction we had with her and other staff members was easy and enjoyable The room was very affordable, big, clean and well laid out, and the view and the landscape around the hotel was absolutely beautiful We didn’t have any problems whatsoever, we will definitely stay there again if needed, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a room while in this area

Thank you, Duana!

Edit to answer the laughable response from some Hampton social media intern:I have contacted you Several times I’ve spent a dozen hours trying to get my money back

The $400 hold fell off and $400 was refunded because staff should have realized I never checked in the first night, but they’re refusing to refund another $400 I’ve provided my call log showing I called Screenshots of messages with my husband and friend about cancelling I remember specifics of the conversation with the representative I’ve offered a doctor’s note proving I was bedridden Hampton insists on retaining $400 they stole, $400 I can’t afford because my little brother killed himself and I paid for his service My card was declined buying food for my 2-year-old because of this theft Don’t performatively pretend to care while stealing from a grieving mother It’s horrifying the face Hampton puts on to lure in more customers while blatantly robbing me I hope my $400 is going to a good cause – oh wait, it will just go to the $55 million salary of the CEO Gotta make sure this year’s bonus tops last year’s, $1,072,500 wasn’t nearly enoughOriginal review:Horrifying customer service I called and cancelled my reservation five weeks before my anticipated stay, since a necessary medical procedure was scheduled for the same time They still pulled $1200 out of my account after the cancellation The first employee I spoke with was kind and reassured me that she could see it was a mistake and they would refund The manager the next day was a different story, you would think she was Mrs Hampton herself She refused to listen to my proof of the cancellation and was unbearably rude She had the audacity to try to scold me because if they gave me the money back, Hampton would be out money because I “didn’t show up” I was understanding that mistakes happen when it seemed like we could work it out, but not after her way out of hand response I explained I am neither capable of, nor responsible for financing the ineptitude of the Hampton employee who confirmed cancellation of my reservation She pretended to transfer me and just hung up Hampton corporate was slightly better, and it looks like the employee that was supposed to cancel accidentally just cancelled one (instead of three) nights I will never give this hotel my information ever again If that was an example of the kind of service the site manager thinks is acceptable or professional, I advise everyone to stay away from this place as well

Place is fine and what you’d expect from a Hilton of this range Panera Bread next door was handy but there’s no really good food places nearby Service is fantastic (people so friendly) and the breakfast was phenomenal, with a range of offerings from made-to-order eggs to cereals and fruits

**Please stop offering plastic water bottles to guests in the room** The local water is drinkable and tastes fine, so why pollute the planet with a substance we know is bad and leaches chemicals into the water itself? Please: save yourself the extra money and stop

Neal Archbold

No free breakfast EVER – We have been using Hilton Hotels for many years was surprised when the receptionist said we had a complimentary breakfast when the sign clearly said it was not (and we have never gotten one ) but he assured us we did so I woke up next day and had a good breakfast then I get the bill , no problem I go to the front desk and ask do I not get a complimentary breakfast NOPE but the gentleman who checked us in said so well he is new and we will talk to him but NO But the room was quiet so slept great then after my wife checked out …BUT GET THIS THEY TOOK OFF THE CHARGE 👍🏽

Alicia Dorton

Went for Mother’s Day BuffetFood wasn’t what we expected at all

The only meats were ham and roast beef The shrimp seemed previously frozen, the broccoli in the broccoli salad wasn’t sliced/chopped but whole florets Now the goodstaff and service was on point We were a party of 20 Glo our waitress was attentive, friendly and honest She apologized that our omelets were taking so long before we were restless The company and service made the day so it was worth the $40pp

Decent hotel for the price The elevator wasn’t working when we stayed; however, the staff gave us notice of this several days before we were scheduled to check in – they even offered marriott bonvoy points for the inconvenience I’m giving 4 stars because the room wasn’t super clean and the continental breakfast seems to have gotten worse within the last couple of years

Overall, though, it was a great stay

Bobbi Caesar

They charged me $100 for a Pet Fee no matter if you stay one night or ten That’s ridiculous They also charged me $12 per night to park in the lot

There were no security guards or patrols around The elevator did not work and was probably shut off due to Covid – we stayed there 2 nights in March 2022 Oh and you couldn’t use the pool either The food for breakfast was all in separate packages and who knows how long they had been there Everything, except the coffee had preservatives – nothing fresh I will not be staying at a Marriott again after this experience

Stayed 3 days usually I don’t mind if they don’t come make the room But we have a big family and needed new towels every day! 2nd day no towels nothing Plat card says leave them on the ground means they will be refreshed and if you want the bedding redone leave the place one the bed

( front desk says requested schedule) only to get new linen/towels I was okay without new bedding so we put the towels on the floor And received nothing So went ahead and scheduled a room maintenance received nothing Let alone the fridge did not work at all But they did promptly fix that or replace it while we were gone also why I expected new towels and trash to be taken out since they were in the room already! Also blinds were broken or didn’t work Other then that comfy room and friendly staff Nice AC in the room No hot tub and kinda a small pool Breakfast are really good

Hyatt place Vacaville is a gorgeous location With plum trees, Palm trees and roses decorated in front of it, it smells very floral The parking lot and lobby were very clean

The rooms are large with 2 beds and a large futon There is a gym, pool and dining area The breakfast was very good (I only wish there were Halal/Kosher options the meat is always pork) The breakfast is until 9:00 on weekdays and until 10:00 on weekends We did run into a few issues with management and customer service that was a headache, but it was eventually sorted out We did not have a microwave in our room, but upon requesting one, it was brought to us The towels were burnt I would go again

Joel “Jay2dafullest”

The hotel looks and feels new I noticed they have a bar / restaurant next to the lobby I did not try either

The gym has 5-50 lbs dumbbells, 1 bench, 2 treadmill, 1 elliptical, and it’s on the small side The rooms were mostly clean with the exception of soap scum build up on the base of the shower doors Overall it’s a comfortable stay away from a busy area
