Showers were gross, beds were okay, building was run downStayed for 2 nights, did not get cleaning service as expectedBreakfast was horrible, not a hot breakfast as promised

They only had some tiny packaged muffins for cold breakfastWould not recommend, would not stay here again It’s clear ownership doesn’t care

A truly wonderful stay, looking forward to staying here again Clean, quiet, great Wi-Fi, fridge, microwave, air conditioning, beautiful decor Parking is a bit tight, especially if you have a larger vehicle, and no breakfast, so that’s holding it back from a five star review

Many of the rooms are being updated and look fabulous, I think ours was almost complete and just needs a new shower and tub

One of the best hotels I have stayed at and I stay at a lot of hotels! The room was genuinely clean, not just covered up with a fresh scent, it was noticeably thoroughly cleaned The complimentary breakfast, I honestly wish I could give it more than a 10, it was so good and the food was quality food! Scrambled eggs that weren’t watery, waffle and pancake maker, fresh fruit, every kind of juice, variety of coffee with many creamer flavors, bagels, Greek yogurt smoothies, it was insane This is genuine feedback, I get zero kickback for this post

I hope all of their locations are this nice The cherry on top is the staff is super nice and the gym was nice

My husband and I really loved this Hampton Inn when we stayed in January and cannot recommend it enough It is the best Hampton Inn we’ve ever stayed at It was friendly and had personality

It was pristine Nothing was out of place and our room was immaculately clean with nice little touches of Arizona The staff and manager were top-notch We felt the pride they had in their hotel and their town The welcome email we received a few days before our stay was very thoughtful The chocolate bar with a little welcome note at check-in was very thoughtful The staff was kind and courteous In fact, this stay was an inspiration for how to approach life We had had a long day of driving and just needed some good sleep It was incredibly comfortable and the breakfast was very nice As my husband said, it was an oasis at a time when we really needed it We had stayed at a Waldorf-Astoria and the El Tovar on this trip and this little Hampton Inn was the one that stood out for us We don’t do reviews often but felt this Hampton Inn deserved one! Hope to be back some day

This is my 2nd stay here and there will be more The lovely ladies at the front desk are super friendly and helpful The rooms are clean, roomy and stocked with everything I need (plenty of power plugins and delicious coffee)

Continental Breakfast is about as good as it gets Perfect (except one minor area where some carpet is coming up and frayed this time) Upgrade your room, it’s worth it!

This place should stay Hidden Photos on Airbnb were of a wonderful cabin, however, I was put into a cabin I would never have booked My pleas for a fix weren’t answered until the next day and staff claimed they’d just bought the place and weren’t responsible

They apologized stating they had no other cabins despite the place being half empty We were moved on day 2 of 4 to the cabin we actually paid for We could see new check ins all upset, cobwebs on light fixtures and under side tables, mold in wood shower (why wood?) Had to ask for clean towels and go to the office to get them The customer service here was horrible I give them kuddos for a VERY comfy bed, but I came home covered in bed bug bites The weather and views were beautiful, but I can get those anywhere else in the White Mountains I suggest you do the same

Ro Syrus

It’s not hidden at all It’s on the busiest road in the area and the walls do nothing to keep the noise out The cabins are so cute and the common area outside was fine

When we first checked in the cabin was dirty There was trash and linens everywhere we assume from the previous guests, the bathroom was a mess and the top bunk was covered in dead ants The staff apologized and immediately went to work cleaning up stating that we could get a hotel for the night or come back in a little while, but either way we wouldn’t be charged We came back that night to give it a shot and even though it was 100% better than before, there was still a spilled gatorade (that may have been the cause of the ants) an old sandwich in the fridge and open bag of pretzels under one of the bunkbed mattresses We were tired from driving all day that we made it work even though there was still a heavy smell of Raid This was a working vacation for us and we researched before booking to make sure that there would be WiFi We could only get a signal directly in front of the office building The staff went as far as to let us use their hotspot but that wasn’t going to be a viable solution for the whole of our trip We ended up having to spend $800 on a VRBO for the remainder of our trip They refunded a lot of our money but I have no clue why they didn’t refund the entirety of our booking and deposit Very disappointed

Lack of hospitality

Based on all the glowing reviews, we were really looking forward to our stay at Hidden Rest Even booked the “Luxury Cabin” #9 as we were staying for five days and planned to cook and eat most meals there Very disappointing and totally lacking in hospitality The exterior of all “cabins” (said loosely as they are more like shacks) were tired looking, poorly maintained and in need of paint Grounds were uninviting with weedy common areas and beat-up looking picnic tables scattered around Kitchen wasn’t really a kitchen – more like a kitchenette and the tiny refrigerator’s freezer compartment was so frosted over that you couldn’t even put an ice cube tray in there if you wanted No ice available so we had to purchase bags of ice throughout our stay to keep the food in our cooler from spoiling Owners had a long list of draconian rules, restrictions and related fines you’d be billed if you ran afoul of anything…including touching the thermostat on the barely working old refrigerator For our five-day stay my husband and I had to make-do with ONE bath towel apiece, ONE wash cloth apiece and a shared hand towel I made the mistake of kindly and politely requesting fresh towels midway through our stay via text and was promptly chastised for not reading the rules – no clean towels for us, no exceptions, as per the rules and regs!! (And you’d darn well better not get them dirty, either…there’s a fine for that, too!) The last straw for us was a giant hot tub that took up half the living room, with more posted rules and regulations about showering before entering and after getting out…how is this possible with one towel apiece for five days?!! Needless to say, we won’t be back Just know what you’re getting yourselves into by staying there and you won’t be as disappointed as we were

Cabin was cute The play area was nice My only complaints are about cleanliness and it was advertised as having a hot tub but did not

No hot tub was disappointing since we had been on the road for hours and was looking forward to relaxing in it Also, the bedding wasn’t clean and most likely wasn’t changed from the last guests Covered in dog hair and smelled like dog Had to send our kids to the desk to get clean bed clothes If ever back in the area we may give it another if the price is right

Stayed one night with my two pups, after a four hour drive (and working all day) While the office was closed when I arrived at 6, there was a number on the door that I was quickly able to call and a very nice woman quickly let me know which room I was in and I was able to get right in the room was very large, clean and upgraded with all the amenities I needed

I loved being able to back right up to the door and unload Do NOT let the old school front of the motel look fool you as the interior courtyard has a mountain kind of charm and the room I had was comfortable, clean and I felt very safe (104)

Casey Henderson

Myself, my partner, my 8 yo son and our two doggies just stopped by here for a night

We enjoyed our stay and the room was perfect for us There is a really cute wooded courtyard area with string lights in the back that would be awesome to chill in I picked this place for the woodsy vibe and that’s what I got, and was greeted in the office with a crackling fire and staff that was friendly with me and each other (sets the vibe of a place for sure!) We’ll be back in the summer!

It’s an OK hotel Breakfast was great IHG have the best breakfast in my opinion

There are 2 buildings, I was in building B Not going to lie, it’s kind of creepy Vending machines were empty, it’s dimly lit, and outdated The TV channel selection was boring While I was staying there, a fire broke out in the B building Plus, the bottom floor flooded Management handled it VERY WELL I know everyone’s experience during that was different, but mine was handled well I got all my belongings and was booked into another room in building A I finished my business trip a couple days later and went on home However, IF I ever go back to Show Low, AZ…I’m staying at the Hampton Inn

amber bourassa

When we first arrived, we did not have any hot water and our heater in the room did not work properly I asked the front desk about it They said there was no maintenance on staff for the rest of the day and we couldn’t switch rooms because they were fully booked

They said they would give us an extra blanket if they could find one But they were not sure where they were at because they recently had a fire The only thing I can say is that it was a fairly clean hotel with a decent breakfast But not having hot water is unacceptable

Stephanie Ivan

Writing this review as I lay here in my room at 1:30 AM wide awake There is such a strong smoke smell in the room from the outside, fireplace/fire pit smoke The person in the room next to me has been coughing all night and I can clearly hear it

The room is semi updated, parts of it need a good cleaning You can tell the carpet is filthy just by looking at it I had spilled a little on the carpet so I got a towel to clean it up and after wiping up my spill the towel was black! It so grossed me out The front desk staff were friendly and check-in was quick and easy

Very clean room, everything about the room was very nice The people there was very cordial and the location was great, close to trails, shops, and restaurants There’s a Mexican Steakhouse right next door that was great (we both had steaks)

The only issue was the one my daughter had about the price (she worked for the state so she had a discounted price) and that it was increased after reservations which should have locked in the price Thank goodness the manager approved and made it right

Kayla Neptune

I do not usually leave reviews, mostly because I have never been so underwhelmed to complain or overly impressed to praise However, I was so impressed with the Best Western Painted Pony Lodge in Show Low Arizona, I had to take a moment to share our experienceCheck in was quick and easy, staff was amazing and professional – they even conversed welcomely with my very talkative 6-year-old

The room was easy to locate, there was ample parking, walkways were clear of debris, snow, ice, etc The room was immaculate! Everything was so clean! It was obvious whoever cleaned this room took pride in their work The room had a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and a fireplace – which was a big hit with the kiddoWe only stayed one night, but it was such a great visit, and within walking distance to different dining optionsI would absolutely recommend this Best Western to everyone! We will absolutely be back!

Jonathan Cody

I don’t have any major complaints about the hotel The room was clean Breakfast was good as well and had a variety of options

My son appreciated the pancake machine The only complaint that I have was that there was a line to check in I had to wait about 5 minutes, but that was fine I was able to check in quickly once it was my turn

Clean hotel right off the main road Staff was polite & professional I like that they serve up the hot breakfast

Good value for the meal served (pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, cereal, coffee & even hot chocolate for the kids)Their hot tub was under repairs & they offered swim passes at the property across the street Not sure if this is a temporary upgrade or a permanent part of the stay but definitely worth advertising! We were allowed to use the pool across the street at Woods Canyon Inn (which also has a spa & sauna) On the way out from the swim the over concierge there treated us to freshly baked cookiesWe would definitely stay at this hotel again & recommend highly

We were in the area for a wedding(June 29-July5) and couldn’t have had a better place to stay The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff were all friendly and efficient We especially enjoyed breakfast! Patrice did an excellent job and was friendly , polite and helpful! We missed her friendly greeting when she was off on our last day there!

Andrew Elliott

The positive: Good location, clean room and good breakfast On the negative side the beds are extremely uncomfortable I couldn’t even sleep on back because it was so uneven

The gentleman serving breakfast had an attitude problem I understand he was working breakfast and front desk but the flat tone, rude demeanor and 1000 yard stare is not how you should present in this industry Glad the rest of our trip is booked elsewhere Several other options in the area

Hard to judge a place after the pandemic (short-staffed, etc), but my experience was very good The rooms are very homey

They are giant rooms with lots of space Comfy bed The pool seemed popular with the kids All the staff were pleasant and helpful when I had questions Plus easy walking access to the casino and restaurant It was also a good value for the room compared to the way overpriced chain hotels in Pinetop-Show Low I’ll definitely stay again if I’m in the area

Mary Reinhardt

Older but spacious hotel with an open swimming pool l, attached restaurant, and a small attached casino The staff were very friendly and helpful My room was a bit dark, but since my plan was to sleep at night, that was fine

I appreciated the wifi for guests I got a very filling meal at the Indian Pines Restaurant which had the voices of happy children in it as if they were proclaiming it is open If I had chosen, I could have gotten room service, too The clerk at the mini mart gave me great instructions on how to find a location in history from long ago Hon-Dah also has an RV campground across from the hotel and is centrally located for daytrips to McNary, Whiteriver, and Firt Apache

When my mother came up from Phoenix she decided to stay here because it had the cheapest nightly rate and was only a couple of miles from my home When she told me she paid less than $100 a night on the weekend right before thanksgiving, I figured this place was probably going to be pretty scary I was amazed at how nice this place was! She had an entire cabin to herself, not just a room like she had expected

It actually came with two rooms and two baths with a nice spacious kitchen and living room I even decided to stay the night at her cabin instead of just driving home because it was too nice to pass up
