Well I am handicapped and there were three people in our party They changed our room from two queens/doubles to a king with a pull out bed The beds were less than comfortable

My son who is 11 that stayed with us had to use the pull out couch and he said it was very uncomfortable They were only towels for two so we had to go back to get new ones for the third person in the party that we had booked for Then we had to go back for a pillow As there were not three of those either Now I asked the lady if they were going to have boiled eggs for breakfast She said no due to the pandemic they would not They had oranges and apples How can you have eggs that you peel not be there but apples that you don’t peel be there in The dining room? There was no meat cereal or you could make your own waffle and a few things of bread and cereal There was Apple and orange juice and coffee There were signs up that said do not take the food back to your room Very disappointing Now next comes critiquing the room She said this was during the pandemic so I would’ve expected the room to be spotless Another great disappointment I am not sure when they dusted last but I think it was probably when they built the place One of the remote controls didn’t work the handicap bars in the bathroom were filthy Video attached Now when you are handicapped you like to have the handicapped shower so that it is lower Again another broken item that had so much dust on it that I know it had been broken for a while (See picture) In the center they have a kitchen area I am not sure when the last time they clean the wall but I could’ve probably had a full meal on the food that was there (See picture) The light on my wife side of the bed didn’t work The cups in the cabinet weren’t clean so we had to wash them also before we use them When I arrived and I asked if they could bring extra linens to the room as I have listed above they told me they had no housekeeping We arrived about five or 5:30 PM The reason that they had moved me to a different room is because they said that some government workers had extended their stay And so if somebody decides to extend their stay the new party has to suffer?

Stayed here for my daughters birthday last night and asked for late checkout while I was checking in as we didn’t get in until late and desk attendant said that would be fine, checkout would be at 12:00 instead of 11:00 As we are packing our things to leave room attendants pounded on the door at 11:03 saying we were supposed to be out I notified them that the previous night we had late checkout for 12:00 approved

5 minutes goes by and a different front desk attendant starts calling the room rudely yelling that I needed to get out that they have government personnel on the way that rented the room and I cannot stay This was after room switches due to half of the suite not getting power, dirty hot tub and pool, bathroom issues that needed addressing, etc Customer service by the day crew has been absolutely subpar at best Will also be contacting booking agency as this has been a complete joke

Kris DiFatta

The first room was very hot, with a strange smell There was no bathtub, only a shower that leaked, and there was a wedding reception loudly thumping music below the roomThe front desk was very kind and moved us to another room

The second room was much cooler and quieter, with a bathtub The beds were softThe pool was closed for treatment so we were unable to use it Breakfast was simple, but sufficient There were no extra pillows for the pull out bed, and the front desk said they didn’t have any to provide There were also strange notes taped up all over the hotel with instructions of things not to do (ie don’t leave trash bags outside your door for house keeping, breakfast is only to be eaten downstairs, not in your room, etc)Overall, it wasn’t a terrible stay, but the price is a little steep for a basic hotel in need of an update

This hotel is very convenient to major highway (but not too close for noise) It has a nice breakfast offered, including eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, breakfast breads/muffins Good coffee and warm cookies in the later afternoon! The room was comfy

Bed/pillows very comfy nice to have fridge/freezer/microwave, especially staying a few days Shower had a handy seat if anyone needed Coffee maker/coffee was great A/C was pretty decent It cycled a bit loudly, but I appreciated you could keep air circulating constantly with fan option The only dislike was a carpet cleaner/odor smell, but nothing terrible The window curtains need to be about six inches longer to block out the very bright parking lot lights I just used pillows to block light! Quiet, lots of nearby dining/groceries and a few minutes to downtown quaint St Mary’s I’ll stay again!

Absolutely LOVED staying here! This is our new go to place in this area, as a family who travels A LOT we have seen our fair share of hotels This place was high on our list The check in staff we encountered was so sweet and informative

Our room was cozy and comfortable and SUPER CLEAN The entire hotel smelt clean, was clean, and so welcoming The weight room was clean and neat Pool was wonderful Breakfast selection was delightful and had something for everyone Will definitely be using them in the future and referring everyone here Pricing was fair and worth every penny All the many staff we met was courteous and helpful The hotel is in a busy area but felt like it wasnt I cannot say enough good things!

This place is truly the Best Western Came in after driving and was tired Rolled in about 12:30 am

Gentleman up front was nice and pleasant He gave me a wonderful room that smelled like mold Everything was damp Requested a room change The room was changed with no issues foundFell asleep and woke up from the same front desk gentleman telling everyone there is a fire at the gas station next door and we are required to evacuateWe had a ball outside watching the firefighters put out the fireWhat other adventures await for us at 2:30 in the morning Can’t wait!!!!

I wish I could give a higher rating, but I can’t Most of the staff I came in contact with were super nice and helpful The room, on the other hand, was awful

The toilet handle kept falling out, and there was broken and loose tiles in the bathroom The beds were the hardest and most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever encountered in a hotel The pullout bed, which we needed, was unusable It was nasty, dirty, and even a ten year old couldn’t sleep on it One of the beds (doubles, not queens) was literally 2 hand widths from the a/c unit, so whomever was in that bed was getting blasted with air The breakfast left much to be desired The lady working the breakfast was more interested in closing the thing down than she was restocking any items If the reservations hadn’t been non-refundable I would have taken my family to another hotel I have over 500 stays at Marriott, and can confidently say that this is NOT a good representation of the Marriott brand

Chloe Dupuis

If you can avoid it, don’t stay here This is a very (very) old hotel The lobby and breakfast area and nice and updated, but the rest is just so old

The room we had was small and dingy There was an old odor Old carpets, old furniture, old bathroom In general, the room was clean But it is so old that the ceilings and walls, wall paper etc are so stained and used We left the window open all night to air the place outThankfully we only stayed one night We didn’t interact with the staff much, though they seemed friendly

Daniel Robinson

Easily the least comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in at a hotel Maybe the king beds are better – I can’t speak to those, but this bed was awful It’s not just the firmness, I’m good with a firm bed, but holy hell, just super uncomfortable

And the pillows suck Granted, nearly all hotel pillows suck, but still Also, the turn to get back to the hotel is weird and unmarked – maybe it’s easier during the day

Had 2 good rooms here, one standard and one king suite I stayed a week and I can’t say I have any complaints, beyond housekeeping ignoring the do not enter sign 2 hrs before checkout They even had flavored creamer 24/7 and half/half

Some places lock it down They have vending machines and laundry equipment Unfortunately there is no change machine Good water pressure, comfortable beds, and the king suite was nice except for the smaller TV than the regular rooms It was great for meetings in the room, physical or zoom, and will probably only stay in a king suite next time

Pauline Torres

A great stay! The first night, the AC in our room was not cooling properly Kim at the front desk did everything she could to resolve the issue, but it could not be fixed (it was late at night) She brought in a fan for the night and the next morning, maintenance replaced the unit with a new one

Aila who works the breakfast area was very polite and patient with all our questions The room was clean and spacious Pet friendly hotel Good price Would stay here againA couple of suggestions: the bathroom had no fan, which would be good for hot showers or “stinky deposits” and the only light was an extremely bright ceiling light Maybe a smaller, less bright light to keep on during the night for late night excursions to potty

freda frey

Wasn’t sure what to expect when we booked this place for an overnight stay on our way to Florida It is just okay, however, I would not stay there again for a few reasons First of all, when we walked into the room, it had a stuffy odor

not musty really, but quite noticeable Otherwise, it did look clean Secondly, our bed had a very noticeable squeak every time you moved In addition, the pillows were truly horrible small, lumpy, poly-filled Breakfast was quite good with a variety of food Overall, for a one-night stay it was just okay at best, but I will pass on this hotel next time

This was just an overnight stop on our drive from Sarasota back to Philadelphia The hotel was so beautiful and smelled so nice! The staff was incredibly friendly Continental breakfast was a typical hotel free breakfast

Nothing too fancy Didn’t get a chance to order from the bistro The little Starbucks inside the hotel was so convenient Our view from the hotel room was gorgeous Could’ve seen the sun rise from the Atlantic Ocean if i would’ve gotten up a bit earlier Wish we would’ve been able to stay longer than just a night

Right now the facility is in the process of an update/renovation so there is a mix of old and new The room was newly done but still from a decor perspective felt a bit dated probably from the furniture and bath counter It was clean

We did not find the bedding particularly comfortable (mattress and pillows) For the one night we stayed we could not get the room cooled to recommended sleep temperature (until after 6 am) and I thought the sound proofing between hall noise and other random guest noises less than usual Basically not a good night sleep Breakfast appeared slightly above average– I didn’t sample Staffing appeared pleasant and eager to help We did not discuss any of the above issues since we were only there one night In summary: Pros–clean friendly and convenient but not particularly cool crisp or quiet

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at My family and I reserved a block of 8 plus rooms, over a month in advance The sheets were filthy with apparent stains and hair as if they were not changed

We requested new sheets from the front desk within five minutes of checking in to the room We waited several hours and was then informed by the front desk that housekeeping changed our bedding We did not leave the room and nobody made an attempt to enter the room and change the sheets After discussing the matter with the front desk a second time, we were given sheets to change the bedding ourselves The sheets we were provided also had stains that resembled bodily fluids The rooms were also bug infested for which the front desk seemed to be aware of as they provided us with bug spray to spray down our rooms The toilets were filthy making it evident that they were not cleaned regularly My family and I intended to stay for 3 nights but changed our hotels after one night due to the filthiness of the hotel and the lack of care from staff

Jessie

This hotel seemed clean and comfortable until 3 am when my husband woke up to bed bugs in his pillow After driving 9 hours we didn’t have the energy to go complain so decided to tough it out until morning When we went to take showers we noticed that there was a used washcloth and bar of soap inside the shower

In the morning we stepped out of our room to find a cockroach crawling outside our door Breakfast area was cramped and chaotic, and no Covid mitigation measures were in place When we complained about our experience with the bed bugs to the person at the front desk, they sighed nonchalantly and said that they “usually give a discount when this happens” but they didn’t have the authority to do it and their manager didn’t usually arrive until noon The manager did call us later and said that when inspecting the room they found “a type of bug” and would have an exterminator come as well as give us a full refund, including pet fee for our dog Glad they made it right but we will definitely not be staying here again

The location is perfect and staff very kind However, extremely overpriced for a tiny room and no amenities It is not a clean place

The floors come up black when you wipe them No closets or sitting spaces I understand it’s a historical place but it can definitely be preserved better considering the prices they charge Recommend spending money on a local B&B or hotel off the exit

Husby C

Wonderful, central location The room we stayed in was right above live music I guess depends on the mood you’re in on whether that is a nuisance or an amenity

The room is small but did the trick for what we needed The entrance was mildly hard to find It is on the side that has the outside deck on the 2nd floor Otherwise, you can miss it Parking is limited but we still managed The staff were all friendly

The location is perfect and within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and a few shops We were in town to see family for the weekend and the hotel met our needs for a quick stay Pros: The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean, and staff was very friendly

Cons: the pillows are horrible, hotel is dated and not really comparable to the photos, you have to request a stay over cleaning for less than 4 days of stay and go to the front desk and ask for new toiletries if you need them Breakfast was good and several options, it would be great to have flavored coffee creamer Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend and will consider again when we need a quick hotel for a few nights

mitch riley

Just finished a 5 night start at this hotel Good location about 5 min walk to the beach and good restaurants nearby The staff is so nice and helpful when approached

Breakfast was great and well sockedThe only issue was the cleanliness of the room It was disgusting on arrival to the point that we didn’t even bother calling housekeeping The sheets had stains and there was so much hair shed on the pillows Bathroom was also gross We cleaned the space ourselves Really contemplated biking the hotel for our time and products we usedThese are the pros and cons of our stay

Rebecca Koester

This place was perfect for me! It was dog friendly, the staff was nice, accommodating, and so chill! The location was amazing and it Is so close to the beach and everything and anything! The pool was the perfect escape from the hot beach! Was the room super fancy? No, but I didn’t choose this hotel for a super fancy room I’m chose it because it was simple and practical! I know I will be back!

Saint Mary’s, Georgia, where I and my now deceased parent’s once lived, in the early- late 1950’s, is not a friendly town!! The Manager of this hotel was very rude to me yesterday morning, when, through NO Fault of my own, I , in essence, pleaded with her, to reduce the price of another “stay-period”, since I was nearing the end of my current stay at this hotelInstead of “heart”, or , if I could possibly use the word, “Compassion”; I got a very stern, steely-eyed” Look “, and a very uncalled for, rude comment After this General Manager’s rude, ” in your face ” comment, I immediately left the front desk, and returned to my hotel room

I found a better hotel deal online, locally, and a much nicer Manager( from recent past experience )Also, at this hotel, the very first Tub- Shower I took; I found the water in the bathtub was NOT draining out of the tub!! So, my first shower, saw the tub filling with water and soap, etc, as I showered! Also, the toilet was defective, by my 3rd day, and I had to call for maintenance to fix something in the toilet tank! Maintenance was good, though, for both the draining problem, with the Tub, and the Toilet He is Hispanic, and was Much more pleasant than his boss( The Hotel Manager ) As far as Housekeeping went; I didn’t have a visit from them, until I was at this hotel 4 day’s! So, unless you are desperate for a room, I would not advise anyone booking this hotel, after my experience, here

We made reservations earlier in the day and got to the hotel at 1:30 am The lady at the front desk was very kind and happy to great us, she got us checked in and paid our pet deposit ($20 non refundable) We got the last room of the night

The rooms are nice without going over the top if you will! The bed and pillows were very comfortable in me and my husband’s opinion The water was hot and rooms were clean I have no complaints!!

Jeff Wilson

I spent one night here on a motorcycle tripThe room I was in was a king with a sofa, and it was very nice Very clean

Oddly enough the towels were a little ratty but they were just fineHot breakfast in the morning, with plenty of seatingThe service, both in the evening and in the morning, was excellentThey have a small sundries convenience shop, and ice creamThe hotel is in walking distance of food so you don’t need to drive for dinnerI would definitely stay here again

Amanda Clampitt

I had a nice stay The room was clean, the woman at the front desk was friendly My complaint is that my credit card was charged 3 times

I was told the charges would fall off once I checked out They did not I spent 45 minutes on the phone (being placed on hold) while the manager on duty contacted the credit card company and at times had to check people in (understandable) to be provided a reference number and no refund I stayed here on 6/30 It’s now 7/5 and I still have yet to see the charges come off of my account That’s $160 of my money that’s tied up waiting My bank told me to contact the hotel, the hotel says I need to wait for the bank The charges are still pending and I am wildly frustrated I understand it’s a holiday weekend, but only one of the days in the last 5 was an actual holiday At the end of the day, this is a mistake the hotel made My card should have never been charged 3 times and I feel they haven’t done anything to make their mistake right They could have given me Wyndham points or discounted my stay for the inconvenience Just disappointed and still waiting for my money

We were charged an outrageous $176+ for a king room that was located in the same hallway as construction There was so much dust in the air I spent much of the evening sneezing, coughing and blowing my nose The closet had a thick coat of dust as if it hadn’t been dusted in ages

The bathroom had mold around the sink drain, in the shower head, corners around the tub The AC unit was so loud it woke me virtually every time it turned on If we weren’t so tired from being on the road all day we would have left Holiday Inn should be ashamed they put us in such a dirty room The irony There was a card on the dresser proclaiming how everything was cleaned spotless and sanitary

Andrew Molinari

Early in the morning There were alot of slammed doors and loud voices Usually at Holiday Inns I have a great experience but there didn’t seem to be any sound depending or soft close door features preventing this

Even worse in the morning someone opened our door Thankfully the emergency lock on the door worked and kept them out I jumped up and looked in the hall way but I didn’t see anyone It isn’t clear if someone has a key and was trying to break in or if it was housekeeping just not knocking I called the front desk and they told me it was probably house keeping But even if it was house keeping they should just try to open the door without knocking and announcing themselves

We had stayed at Seaside Amelia Inn with our two grandchildren for six nights The customer service was very good and everybody was very friendly We got a suite and the kids had slept on the pullout sofa and the pullout bed

Everybody was comfortable The rooms are not very big but very clean and recently renovated The air conditioning units are very quiet and they cool our rooms very well The breakfast was fresh and good Grady a very nice person was around and making sure nothing is missing at breakfast Children loved going to the the swimming pool after the coming from the beach

Dawn Reyna

We booked a room late afternoon on a whim It was the last room they had available so I was skeptical We were very pleased with our room

We could see the ocean and the pool (rather small, but clean) and it was tiny They called it a “studio” BUT the room was newly renovated, had a TV, chair, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a queen / full sized bed The bathroom was newly renovated as well, and had a tiled, step-in shower We only needed the room for the S’s *CENSORED*, shower, shave and sleep so it was perfect for us The bed was really comfy Slept like a rock There was also a cool rooftop patio with great viewsThe free breakfast was good and the lady who handled that (Grady??) was the sweetest, most pleasant person I met that entire trip!As of this posting, the hotel is in the middle of a remodeling project but this didn’t affect us much You cannot beat the location, which is at Main Beach and less than 50 yards away from a playground and 100 yards or so away from a skateboard park if you have the need or desire for these things It’s also less than 1/4 of a mile from the entrance to Fort Clinch If you can get a room, take it

Shawn Rider

This was by far one of the BEST stays my family and I have had! Jean at the front desk was absolutely amazing! That is also speaking for her entire staff, the customer service was the very best! I HIGHLY recommend staying here for anyone, location is great, rooms were clean, and great breakfast Thanks again to Jean and her staff, y’all were amazing! 👍🏼

A true home feelI must highlight the breakfast… Warm fresh eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, make your own waffles and delicious coffee The sweet lady that maintains this is admirable She keeps the area spotless and has a kind word for everyoneWhile a mid priced hotel it offers a luxury hotel standard!Thank you

Traveling with two elderly, small dogs and needed accommodation for one night where potty breaks for them were not a logistical nightmare Nailed it here Ground floor room had vinyl flooring that was somewhat textured so they weren’t sliding around on the floor

Enough space to put their dog beds down Potty area was a few doors down a hallway and straight out onto a level grass area Rubbish bin located sensibly Best pet friendly accommodation so far Room was clean and all amenities functional Other pet owning guests were polite and considerate Will stay here again 😃

Comfy and by the beach, it’s surrounded by a handful of great shops, foods, and places to exploreEverything is good here My favorite thing about this place is that the morning team bakes these amazing cookies at the front desk everyday! If I had to complain, the design of the shower makes it easy for the water to run over the other side

Having your floor covered in water after a shower was off putting But there are more positives than negatives hereThe front desk is run by some young ladies who want to make sure your stay is comfortable Listen to some of their recommendations, they knew some good places to hang out!

Lindsey Mullen Todd

Loved our stay here! The decor has been updated (see my photos) and it’s so cute! We did mobile check in so we never had to talk to anyone at the front desk The breakfast had a great and extensive selection of hot and cold items and the attendant woman was so nice! Plenty of parking right around around / under the building FANTASTIC location – walk to everything in the historic downtown! Literally steps away from great restaurants and bars! We stayed in a fireplace room but didn’t end up turning it on

10/10 would recommend!

Eli C

Enjoyed staying here! Walking distance of all the shops and eating places in historic downtown Hotel has a neat charm and alot of character Friendly staff! Everyone was so helpful from breakfast attendants, front desk employees, and maintenence

Rooms were clean and a nice size We also enjoyed the pool area! Beach entrances are located a few miles down the road

I noticed some less than great reviews before we stayed and realize now that they seem to have been directed at the previous owners Under the new owner and management, this place is great The staff was helpful and friendly

Everything is clean and well-kept Definitely as nice as any other B&B we’ve stayed in, especially considering the age of the building Every we were interested in was within walking distance St Mary’s is a charming, quiet little coastal village Good restaurants and little shops My only recommendation would be to add some variety to the breakfast offerings, though everything served was good Highly recommend if you’re looking for a short, low-stress trip Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach is an easy 45 minute drive away and was a nice excursion for the day

Cannot recommend this stay highly enough Absolutely delicious daily breakfast and relaxing happy hour each night The room was large and the bed was extra comfortable

The house was beautiful and I loved soaking up the sun on the porch and by the pool Very convenient to everything in town and surrounded by good restaurants Friendly and accommodating hosts

This place is great! We went for our babymoon! We stayed at the Sandpiper room and it was absolutely perfect and spacious! The whirlpool was also really good perk of the room! But more than the room I want to highlight the hosts, they are just wonderful people and great hosts My wife has dairy and gluten allergies, which is always problematic when looking for what to eat This was not the case here, her gluten/dairy free breakfast was just delicious, so so good

My normal breakfast was also great! (Specially on the last morning those peach/blueberry muffins wao! Delicious)Thanks thanks thanks! We are definitely going back!

I reserved a room at this location for my 85 year old Dad who needed a get away for a couple of weeks He stayed at this site for 16 days and thoroughly enjoyed himself He said the staff was amazing; very helpful, courteous and professional! They gave him a sense of being home and by the end of the 2 weeks he was referring to them as his friends on our daily calls

He also reported the location was very clean and decorated nicely This spot is a perfect location away from all of the hustle and bustle and was within walking distance for him from the beach and Sliders which were his additional favorite spots Thank you for taking care of my Dad! 🙂

Marie Corsale

Ask for Randy and he will make sure your experience is amazing Everyone was so helpful and friendly honestly We always enjoy our stay here and feel alot safer than most hotels

Our suite is always clean and always available on time Breakfast is good and pool is always clean! 👌 We didn’t get to grill out but maybe next time 🤔 Thank you for making this birthday stay wonderful

Kevin Crawford

Love this hotel but it needs better beds They only have queens, which is fine, but the beds aren’t the most comfortable and the linens don’t fit well The room layout is excellent, though, giving you lots of space and the couch in the single bed room pulls out to be another bed if you have kids with you

The location is awesome, super convenient to the beach and there’s a great little ice cream shop right next door that makes dole whips that taste exactly like the ones in Disney Highly recommended despite finding the beds a bit uncomfortable

Stunned with condition of this particular Holiday Inn Express location Start with the good:1 Friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff

2 Free hot breakfast (cinnamon rolls, pancakes, eggs, sausage gravy, muffins, cereal)3 Quiet, safe location and about a mile from River City MarketplaceThe bad:1 Air quality is not so great inside rooms Feels a bit thick and dirty smelling Even hallways and elevators are not properly cooled Only ground floor lobby and dining areas are There’s definitely mold throughout the rooms2 AC is not central but wall unit Bed blocks airflow, making most of the room a tad too warm3 Cockroaches throughout the room In a hotel This is a first for me, and I’ve stayed in some dump of hotels throughout the years If you see one there are a heck of a lot more nearby4 Parking becomes a challenge after 5pm I had to wait for a spot to openStaff very friendly But the appearance of roaches, inadequate and dirty ventilation system, and too few parking spaces negates that There are multiple other options literally right next door

John T. Grage
