10 STARS IF I COULDI love leaving reviews…especially being early on to leave a review since we literally checked in less than 2 hours ago I just feel it’s so necessary! Desiree and Nicole were extremely polite and very helpful and accommodating! I really appreciated when they offered to bring the extra towels and etc to our room These two definitely know what it means to offer customer service! I know that working in the customer service industry these days is a nightmare, so l am thankful and grateful that they both can still manage to makemy night better

Great hire manager They definitely deserve a raiseToo early to leave review for stay Keep you posted

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking a room This site will compare hundreds of booking websites and usually will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the highest rated in this area

I have been coming here for a long time If you stay for a few nights you for sure will love it I’m sure!My stay there was March 17-March 20 Although Our church group got there very late because of traffic coming from NC and had requested a handicapped room for me and it wasn’t I stayed in the room one night and the Guest Service Manager Josephine Jones was very apologetic for the mix up and right on moving us into a handicap room They offered to move everything out of one room to the next room Josephine is a very compassionate and thoughtful person I really enjoyed my stay and had all my concerns and needs met promptly…I also want to give a high five to the food service department Tamika Jordan lit up the dining room service with her smile and conversation… She was very hospitable, cheerful and funny I would definitely stay here again traveling north just to because of them making my stay so pleasant… Give theses Ladies a raise !!!

Staff was friendly and the surface lot parking was easy However, the room temperature was set at 58 degrees Took 3 hours to get it up to 72 degrees

The window shade would not close the final two feet The room layout was rather strange Room service is via an adjacent Restaurant and the Cobb salad I had was excellent And for you men out there, when you sit on the toilet your privates touch the water – yuck!

I had an overall great experience here; the room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was pretty good, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful It is very convenient to UPMC, the hospital and other associated buildings – an “easy” walk, so long as you don’t mind some rather steep uphill sections One thing to be aware of: the parking situation isn’t great

They have limited parking in a very cramped and somewhat beleaguered looking garage, and if you arrive late there’s a good chance it will be full In that case, there’s street parking, but it’s metered starting at 8am, or they will direct you to a parking garage about 2-3 blocks away (where we eventually parked) where you can park and walk back Not the greatest experience in the world to arrive late and tired, ready to sleep and then have to spend another half-hour or more figuring out parking But, this is in part the price paid for such a convenient location!

Sunil Jain

The hotel was good with spacious clean rooms and a convenient locationBUT, management is cheap and stingyCalled front for body lotion – got the response that they have ran out of themBreakfast:Broken toaster – Cannot even replace with a new oneDissappearing breakfast items – blamed on shortageRoom CleaningService staff stormed to clean the room while we were still there

Something seriously wrong with management

Charis Armah

The hotel in itself is a beautiful property although the management staff leave much to be desired with their uncouth and downright rude behavior! It might be because I am person of color, I am quite unsure but the GENERAL MANAGER, Kimberley Jones, of the property saw it fit to hang up the phone on me and my father and tell us to meet her downstairs due to the simple fact that the TV provided in the room was NOT working! That in itself was mystifying and unprofessional coming from the woman who runs the hotel but the shock did not end there Upon coming downstairs, she then saw it fit to not even be present for the conversation she had moved abruptly in-person and rather send out her subordinates to defend her uncouth behavior! In all of our stays at hotels, we have never experienced such a a rude employee, let alone a manager! As my father is a Gold Elite Members of Marriott, we were shocked to receive such treatment at a Marriott hotelIf you want your stay to be sprinkled in with unnecessary rude and aggressive behavior, I definitely suggest staying at this hotel!

Cheaper than other rooms I found of the same quality Convenient location, close to the highway Gas station across the parking lot

I like that the sink is not in the bathroom I was traveling alone, but I can see that being nice for families Also like it, because it is not all hot and humid from the shower when you are drying your hair Had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the shower, a laundromat, mini fridge, hair dryer, microwave, coffee, and the makeup remover wipes they had worked great Good space to store luggage Snacks for sale in lobby They had breakfast, but I didn’t eat Lots of amenities for price Would stay again for sure

I booked Travelers Rest the night before catching the Amtrak to DC to ride the C&O/GAP It’s a really cool property, catering to cyclists Beautifully restored, and great hosts

The rooms were simple and clean, the shared common space was spacious and welcoming The garage was secure and provided easy bike storage Next time I would stay longer I would definitely recommend for anyone cycling in the area

Natalie Kruzz

I had a great time staying at Traveler’s Rest The rooms were very nice and all the amenities were great The theme/environment was very welcoming and I really liked the living area and fully stocked kitchen

I met one of the owners, Paul, in the morning and he gave me tips on exploring the city Overall a great experience and I would definitely stay here again

Perfect stop for any traveler! I showed up late after driving all day, only to enter the beautiful oasis that is Traveler’s Rest Using contactless check-in, I let myself into my room (the super affordable bunker room!) where I slept comfortably the whole night I woke in the morning to fresh coffee and pastries and good conversation, before continuing my journey

Anyone needing a place to crash for a night will find a haven at Traveler’s Rest, but the beautiful building and great company will make you want to stay longer!!

stayed here for a mini trip in pittsburgh and it was so great! this was roughly the same price as hotels nearby but it’s so much more worth it because you get an entire apartment there was a kitchen with dishes, silverware, dish soap, etc it was very clean, in a great location, and the staff at the front desk were so nice and made my stay so easy

loved that there was a rite aid right next to it parking in the garage attached was $30 a night which wasn’t too bad giving air bnb vibes but it’s a hotel

Dianna Loevner

Etage was truly a wonderful lodging experience in Downtown Pittsburgh Communication by staff when calling prior to my stay was lovely Check-in was a breeze

On-site staff was kind and accommodating The lodging itself exceeded expectation by being large with a full kitchen set-up and fun colored lighting by the bed The views were fab, and featured a view of the valley and PPG PlaceWill definitely stay here on future travel to Pittsburgh! xo

Boo Briggz

The view associated with these apartments were EXCELLENT! Management and staff were respectful and courteous Mr Shakur went above and beyond the call of duty,we truly appreciated him helping us with the questions we had

Also,I like the fact that they have a flat rate for parking and how the location is within walking distance to all the food spots and tequila bars😁

This hotel was excellent, and that’s from me, who is old and cranky The young man at the desk the late afternoon of April 7th was friendly and very helpful The room was spotless

The free breakfast was real breakfast, not a box with some muffins in it We travel with a small dog, and the hotel put $200 on my card for amenities, so I think that if the dog damaged something (it didn’t), they would take it from that That’s fair – I would expect to pay for any damages What I appreciate is that if there are no damages, we don’t pay anything This is opposed to a recent stay at another hotel, which charged a $5000 pet fee regardless of any damagesThe South Side location was very good – quiet in the evening, and convenient to where we needed to be (Carnegie Mellon University)Parking was excellent – in a garage beneath the buildingFinally, I was happy with the cost Room rate, taxes, fees, and one night of parking for under $20000Going forward, we won’t stay anywhere else

sue gee

This was by far the best hotel stay we have ever had! There are only 2 negative things I have about this place and that’s the parking garage situation and how they definitely shouldn’t be charging $20 a night for what that was and the fridge stunk horribly

other than that so much was within 5 min walking or 10-20 min driving distance Loved there was a marina and bike trail entrance close by There’s construction going on next door and we barely heard anything We didn’t hear anything from the other guests in the hotel The rooms were decent sized for a family of 4 The shower was huge and the pressure was superb 👌 👏🏽 finally!! They tried the best they could with breakfast Pretty similar options to most major hotels and the pool was fine But my favorite part was the view over looking the river When I’m back in Pittsburgh this is the only place I want to stay Sorry I don’t have pictures inside the room I thought I had a video but I can’t find it

Josh Prew

This is the worst Hyatt property we have ever stayed at and is now on our avoid listParking: Parking garage requires double parking This means that you must hand over your keys to the front desk in case they need to move your car

We found our rental car moved and smelling of smoke – it appears that someone had smoked in our rentalBreakfast: We went to breakfast at 9 (they close at 9:30) and found that they were out of nearly everything No coffee, eggs, or pastries No silverware and trash cans were overflowingRoom: Dirty and has has tape on the ceiling Had a cracked toilet seat (which required maintenance to come by)This property also hosts events Be prepared for loud music until 10:30 at night (followed by an hour of them breaking down tables and cleaning up) Not where I would recommend going for a restful stay – though the wedding party seemed to have fun

This was BY FAR THE BEST HOTEL WE HAVE STAYED IN, in the Pittsburgh area! Our room was a 2 bed Queen Suite Room was phenomenal, property was clean, safe, and welcoming Jessica at front desk for check in was amazing! They let us check in early with no hesitation and also gave us a late check out with no questions! We came from Florida for Family Court and the stay exceeded our expectations for a calming experience before court

Breakfast was amazing, lots of options! Pool was nice and clean and I just can’t say enough about the wonderful experience we had

Vicki R

I typically avoid Choice Hotels like the plague They’re all franchised with no set standards for customer service or quality This one, however, is one of the best hotels I’ve used even compared to Hilton, Marriott, or Holiday Inn

The rooms are clean, there are ample amenities, and the pool is warm and welcoming The bed is firm but cozy It has a down alternative comforter that I wanted to take home with me The side tables are large enough to hold a drink, a phone, and a lamp at the same time with room to spare Although the TV had the typical channels on it with nothing I cared to watch, I was able to plug my Roku in and stream all my shows as usualBreakfast was ample There was the typical fare you find in most hotels: eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles for the warm side Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit (actually fresh, never bruised or old) I could go on, but I’m just going to say there was something for almost everyoneStaying in this hotel was really the only bright point on this trip in Pennsylvania

Dave Smilie

We stayed here our first night in town and liked it enough to book one more night before leaving townBoth times, the person at check-in was friendly, efficient, and went out of her way to accommodate usThe grounds and facility were both impeccably clean

Our room, a suite, was spacious and well appointedWhile the location is close to downtown, getting here (or anywhere in Pittsburgh) is an ordeal of one way streets, fast cars, and chaos That’s the only knock on a great place to stay

I think the most appealing feature of this hotel, as if it isn’t good enough to have a pool and clean room, is the shuttle service they offer for guests Both nights we stayed they drove us from the hotel to a bar within 3 miles to Carson Street And Kim, the driver is absolutely amazing

So awesome If only they offered it every day of the week

Raj Kal

Hotel is right next to the train tracks and trains are plying all night and blast the horn when around the hotel I am not a light sleeper and yet could hear 5 trains pass by Beds are uncomfortable as they sag in the center

Sofa had gummies on them so it wasn’t cleaned They charge $22 for parking which is not advertised anywhereBreakfast was good

Cody Layman

The room we had was decent Our party of 3 fit nicely but there were no sheets or pillows for the pull out couch so we had to walk down to the front desk to retrieve them The yellow stains on the bed were hard to ignore but my wife slept on that side of the bed anyway

Upon exiting the 4th floor elivator where our room was located we were greeted by the rancid smell of a puke/sewage like substance that lingered the halls for our entire stay The indoor pool was located in the lower level and was as cold as an Alaskan ice rink but my 9 year old didn’t seem to mind The room was clean and quiet except for being located right beside a graffiti covered train track that seemed to have a train rolling down the line about once every 2 hours so it made sleeping a little difficult As for the continental breakfast it was your typical runt of the mill hard eggs and runny oatmeal that 90% of hotels offer Overall it wasn’t a bad experience but I think there are better options in the general area Also parking on site is $22 per day

The hot tub was out of order and the pool was too cold for my liking so we didn’t utilize that amenity Also the guest laundry feature was out of order Check out was noon and I was able to have a late checkout til 1pm without extra charge Beautiful back yard with large gas fireplace over looking the river made up for all the other things out of order though Very nice Service from staff was excellent

Most HI Express I have stayed at was very nice and this hotel is no exception

However my trip before this one I cut my finger on the top of the microwave It seems it has had a tabletop screwed to it at one point ,and there was a sharp point at the top It was minor to me so I had not bothered to mention it On this trip ,to same H I the heat did not work very well and room was a little cold first night The toilet leaked from the bottom and the tray that holds the complementary soap and shampoo had two chips out of it Curtains wouldn’t close properly, and the suite was a little in disrepair Shower walls had been cracked and halfway repaired The microwave tray was missing but worked okay Breakfast and cleanliness was excellent as always All the staff were very friendly and pleasant to meet

At this price point the rooms are exceptional I used priceline and got a weekday room rate of $89 The inn is pretty close to everywhere I wanted to be but if you want to go into town it’s a little out of the way

My son purchased a soda and sour patch kids and on each of the 3 times he purchased them the price was different $4, $5 & $6

Samhitha Kallem

Very disappointing staying here … I have stayed at Holiday Inn at different places … but this is worst The curtains were shredded The airconditioner didn’t keep the room cool atall

The tub drained and filled extremelyslowly DisappointingThey better improve the service their for their hotel to run good

Room was a nice size Bathroom was sizeable though the sink was outside in the room Shower head had 2 settings which was nice with good pressure and fast hot water

The fridge in the room was a good size so was good for storage The bed was soft and small bit firm so we slept comfortably The staff was friendly The breakfast had variety I’d definitely stay again!

Julian Stirrat

They didn’t clean the rooms while we were out, there’s almost nothing to watch on TV Some channels were frozen, some had two languages at once, and some were even blind people channels where they narrated what was happening Also, the was very bumpy and loud; I did not feel safe riding it

The best part was the beds and the proximity to many attractions including Kennywood

James Paddock

Worst hotel I have stay in this year Cold water was shut off to both the shower and the sink Turn down the cold water for the sink but couldn’t find the turn on for the shower

The sink stopper wouldn’t work The shower stopper wouldn’t work The fridge was frozen up And if you’re a big person you don’t fit on the toilet Whoever’s doing your remodel is a hack and you should fire them And all I got was a thanks for letting me know all these problems were there Will never stay here again

This is a great hotel that just went under a complete makeover 100% top to bottomThe rooms are first class very clean with all new furniture, large soft towels and most importantly very quiet / safeJosh at the front desk goes above and beyond to make sure guest are taken care of

Where do I start?

After their remodel, they’re now insanely expensive They’ve gone “TRENDY” Whats that mean, you ask? It means; no garbage cans in bathroom, or any real cans anywhere SUICIDALLY dark lighting in the rooms, but don’t worry, you’ll probably concuss yourself on the bathroom door because it blocks the hallway before you can slit yourself you have to close it to get out NO TABLES OF ANY KIND IN THE BATHROOM I had to put up the ironing board to set my stuff on God help you if you’re a female No towel racks because trendy things are trendyOH and if you can figure out how to set their trendy ac unit so it doesn’t blow hot air in the summer, you belong in MENSA Bathtub dirty, fridge iced over etc etcBOTTOM LINE; I’ve stayed there 4 or 5 times This is the last

The worse experience I have ever had! The management including staff and manager Carmen were not accommodating or willing to assist a large family with several young kids We booked online and when we showed up the hotel was under renovations with “pool” Online it states pool indoors

The manager didn’t even want to speak with me at first kept trying to speak over phone with staffing relay information Then they just kept showing us a websitethat is very difficult to navigate and yes at the very bottom after you reserve it satates “no pool” Staff was rude Staff was unsincerce I would never recommend this hotel!!!! 0/5 stars! Or better yet -5/5

The staff would not elaborate about why they couldn’t give me the room, until I had heard it from a manager later during my stay Then while I was there, I stepped in something small on the hotel room floor that looked like chocolate or poop I don’t know I took it to the front desk in a tissue No one did anything when I complained I also had to be in charge of throwing out my own hotel room garbage in front of the door Also all the other hotel rooms had their rooms cleaned while they stayed, but mine was NOT cleaned until we left Their excuse was that their housekeeping was short staffed I’m disappointed in the hotel and the travel website I used to book the room The breakfast was acceptable, but everything else wasn’t Best to go to a hotel that actually LISTENS and cares about excellent customer service Not a good hotel to pass through in Pittsburgh

Extremely friendly staff Very clean room including the small details other hotels overlook or just do a poor job of cleaningI was an extremely late arrival

After a long day of travel, the front desk employee made check in easy and accommodated my stupid request after I had checked inThe only negative I can think of is a minor complaint at best One driveway is closed It’s not well marked and there is no clear direction on how to access the parking lot but it wasn’t that hard to figure out even though it was a very dark night and well after midnight It may have added two minutes into my arrival time See, minor issueI was here for business When I have to come back to our facility nearby, I will stay here again

I called several weeks in advance to confirm that I needed a handicapped walk in shower The desk person I spoke to said she made a note on our reservation When we arrived we were told no handicapped room was available

For 5 days we did not have the accommodation that we requested and paid for The manager was rude and uncaring of the situation She simply said we don’t look at the notes and that was that!!!Breakfast was good and the other staff was nice

We were gifted a night back in February for our wedding and absolutely loved it! (Sorry it took me so long to review!) Karl was a delight to talk to, he knew a lot of history/ fun stories about the area We briefly met Jeff but he was just as sweet as Karl isCannot wait to visit again soon :3 ❤️

The Henry Pack

Karl and Jeff are without a doubt the best hosts we’ve ever encountered! This beautiful charming inn is nothing like we’ve ever seen before The bed in Mrs Bogg’s room may be the most comfortable bed I’ve ever experienced

It’s such an incredible and unique place to stay, filled with years and years of history and stories! I can’t wait to go back!

Our Pittsburgh stay at the Inn on the Mexican War Streets was excellent The property was elegant, and the attention to even the minutest of details was very focused The location of the Inn was in a very nice, safe neighborhood, across the street from a beautiful park

One of the best qualities in my opinion was the graciousness of the proprietor, Jeff and his warm welcome, and affable and gregarious nature We can’t wait to return

Rude Front Desk Supervisor (Ellen)The hotel charge me an extra $300 for 1 night because they claimed I checked in a day before I really didWhen I called the hotel about this I was called a liar by the front desk supervisor (Ellen) and she told me “I was on camera signing papers and checking in on Friday” I checked in on Saturday and checked out on SundayEllen was very rude and was chuckling when telling me I was lying and I stayed for 2 nights not 1 like I actually did

When I asked for her employee number she then hung up on meI called the hotel back 5 times and was sent to voice-mail every timeI have never been disrespected and treated so poorly by a “professional” establishment, this experience made me feel like the gum stuck on the bottom of someone’s shoe This experience still feels really bad and Ellen hurt my feelingsI didn’t deserved to be treated like that and no one deserves to be treated like thatMy Girlfriend and the organization I was at this hotel with are just as upset about my experian as I am

It was good Christine at the front desk was amazing and gave us so many restaurant recommendations! However, the room was not very clean to Marriott standards and the couch had some very questionable stains on it which I would not sit on I even tried flipping the cushions but they were on both sides

The bed was comfortable and very good water pressure Breakfast was good

Customer service was and is always outstanding We have stayed at this hotel for years when coming home to visit family I’m retired military and my son is active duty

He and my granddaughter arrived early on our last visit and the staff was very accommodating in getting them a room close to us Breakfast was very good and the area was very clean Once agian, all hotel staff personnel were friendly and very attentive Big hit for us were the room(s) this visit Curtains/shades had large cuts and red stains all over them, floors were greasy and slippery in kitchen and bathroom area, etc (Big decline)If the rooms and some of the common/hallway areas get a make over/cleaned up that would improve your ratings and prevent us from seeking another hotel with better/cleaner accommodations I hope you make these suggested modifications because we really do love staying at the this hotel

Overall, I would have to say that I was very disappointed in our stay at their hotel My son and I were just there for a baseball tournament and we stayed at their hotel When we arrived, there was a sign on the front desk stating that the pool was closed (nice feature and part of our decision to stay there with a baseball team needing to unwind between games)

I inquired and they said it would be fixed and ready to go the next day We found out later that evening it wouldn’t be fixed until Monday after we were gone They offered no form of apologies or compensation for thisNext, I called and asked if they could send up sheets and a pillow for the pull out sofa (used to be standard in the room or hospitality would send it up) and they told me to come and get it from the front deskFinally, our room had a kitchenette and I found it curios that there were limited plates and utensils in the cabinet I looked in the dishwasher and found it full with water and grime sitting in the cups and bowls (ones which were not upside down to allow the water to drain) I found this disturbing because I have no idea how long they were sitting there and would not use themI don’t think I would stay at this particular hotel again!

Very nice hotel! The staff is extremely friendly – one of the nicest hotel staff I’ve ever met The rooms were very clean and nice Additionally, there was complimentary bar soap, shampoo, and conditioner

The rooms also felt very safe Each room had a lock safe to put valuables Additionally, the door had its primary lock, a dead bolt, and another lock as well Overall, great staff, lovely rooms, and very safe

Lovely hotel with good views, simple but adequate accommodations, and a super accessible location It’s worth booking the parking package because the valet employees are super nice/prompt & parking is otherwise pretty tough My only major qualm was that we didn’t receive housekeeping due to the hotel’s COVID protocols, but none of the staff wore masks (a bit contradictory)

Don’t forget to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking any place They compare hundreds of booking websites and usually will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the most well known in the area

I’ve been coming here for a very long time If you stay for a few days you for sure won’t be disappointedMy partner and I booked a night in this hotel last minute just as an escape from our hectic lives The rate was good and the room was very nice As someone who spent many years in hospitality I was impressed with the cleanliness and the staff The bed was super comfy and the shower was huuuuuge I would definitely stay here again
