My wife and I have stayed at an AKA 5 or 6 times, the last 3 being at this location at University City in Philly We’ve obviously enjoyed our stays because we keep coming back This review is specifically about the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff

Kudos to local management This high quality staff doesn’t just happen It’s hiring the best people and training them to make their guests feel welcome 5 stars for staff on 28, at desk and management!

Grace G.

The stay was wonderful The kids enjoyed the pool and movie room, and I enjoyed the view/cleanliness of our suite EJ was AMAZING! He constantly checked on us and made sure we had a great stay

He prepared the movie room, brought snacks and water, brought towels to the pool, answered all questions I mean he went above and beyond, the customer service was great Overall a great stay!

Daiana Lucisano

We have stayed in room 3524 for 10 days and there were some problems, but the staff took care of everything with kindness and professionalism I am grateful to the general manager Sharon Bell, the sales manager Carla Caboni and the chief engineer Robert: they took care of all the problems and offered to make up for them Now we moved to an apartment in AKA and everything is fine and perfectly furnished thanks to the helpful staff that works here

Rooms and apartments are beautiful and have a stunning view over Philly’s skyline I highly recommend this place- Mizio & Daiana

Words cannot express how truly wonderful this bed and breakfast is! I needed a getaway for a couple days and this was the perfect spot The owners are so kind and attentive (plus they have three adorable dogs), the decorations and setup of the place are immaculate, and the atmosphere is completely comfortable It’s also the perfect place to devour a couple books

I have never felt so at home at a place that wasn’t home I highly, highly recommend staying at the Alpenhof!

Clayton Park RV Escape

We really enjoyed our stay at Alpenhof A quiet weekend away was just what the doctor ordered It’s comfortable, beautifully decorated, in a beautiful area, and a quick drive to museums and shopping

They serve a delicious breakfast and it was really nice being waited on by Rowland and Anh We would love to return for the Monet experience some time this summer if we can possibly get away

Debbie Rubenstein

What can I say? The alpenhof reflects it’s owners, Roland and Ann: it is warm, cozy, welcoming and thoroughly original The rooms are cozy but cleverly laid out and very comfortable The breakfast was wonderful and the company and stories were even better

Roland grew up in the house and shared stories of his horticulturalist mother and concert pianist father Plus, we accidentally booked one night too few Roland did some kind of magic and managed to let us stay an extra night He had every right to be crabby and unhelpful but he was the soul of kindness instead

One night stay after a day of shopping in KOP Booked a room with 2 queen beds using my Bonvoy points, but instead got a room with 2 double beds on the 3rd floor Greeted nicely at entrance, room was clean, loud in hallways, but between rooms was just fine

Breakfast was very fresh and nice variety This hotel isn’t as bad as all of the reviews make it out to be!

Imexcellence Babyyy

This hotel is infested with rats! Booked two rooms and there was a mouse trap with what looked like peanut butter as bait sitting directly behind the FRONT DOOR of the room! Called the front desk a million times, no answer Sent a chat in my bonvoy app… no answer Called from the room phone, and the front desk attendant did not seem surprised about the infestation! He offered another room but refused to answer to the fact that the hotel has a problem! He only stated “it could be a possibility that we have a rat problem”

REALLY They changed my second room location (the one with the trap) but what good is that if the entire hotel is rat ridden I spent my money on this hotel and didn’t have enough to change to another and a refund was never offered My kids and I slept with all our belongings on the beds/ dressers and with one eye open Terrible experience!

Brandon Parshall

If you don’t value sleep, stay here Good location but you can hear everything and everyone in the hallway Was 5 doors down from hallway and had to get a room change because I could hear everything

Moved to 3rd floor – it was better but not great Got very little sleep over 3 night stay Sink made weird noises, heater made weird sounds Breakfast starts at 630a but food was often not out until 645a

We stayed here while our bathroom was getting redone We live 5 min away The hotel was very nice and clean

The pool was great! And the staff was even better Everyone from the girl who was at the front desk In the early evening to the guy running the breakfast! They were all so nice and welcoming I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area My kids loved it there

Super clean and tidy hotel nicely located off the city centerLovely surroundings and nice viewsSpacious and clean room

Good amenities and professional staff Fresh yummy breakfast and free parking

Lee Sowders

Edit: Down to 1starNo Edison outlet between beds This really sucks if you have sleep apnea The clock does have two slow charging USB ports though

AC is weird Do not recommend of you love super cold rooms Won’t go below 62 and if you’re below 65 the AC stops removing a lot of the humidity for some reasonHousekeeping is inconsistent and always came in the afternoon when I was already back from workThey have exactly 1 washer and 1 dryer for the whole building to share And the dryer is brokenLocation is suboptimal I wish they were 5mi east because there’s a void of hotels there that extends to downtownThey have a bar/restaurant, and even a sign by the road advertising it’s now open, but the chef has been out for weeks and won’t be back for weeks Seems dumb to only have a single guy who is scheduled to cookFront desk people are friendly and do what they canBreakfast is free, and fairly typical Nothing fancy, but it’s not lackingParking is freeThe elevator doors close very slowly, but the close door button Does work and it’s worth pushing

This place is 5 starIt is a gorgeous, historic & peaceful house The rooms were beautiful The staffs were also very goodKitchen had all spices you could imagineWarning: The hotel closes from 11-4:30 and you can’t stay there

The hostel is not open every day and you cannot book for the same day Keep that in mind

Nigel McKee

This was a cool place Maybe one of the strangest hostels I’ve stayed at Be warned that it really isn’t walkable from downtown

Do yourself a favour and just get an Uber It’s bloody ginormous, the male dorm is on the top floor and the rooms downstairs are vacuous It seemed like everyone I stayed with was there for the same reason, they booked the cheapest one and weren’t exactly sure what they were expecting but that actually made my experience so much better People make hostelsCritiques would be that the beds in the male dorm were very uncomfortable, hard, plastic covered mattresses with sheets that were tiny and very rough but let’s call it “period style bedding” for the building Why not Over air conditioned too in my caseLoads of charm Just book it There’s also a shortcut through the woods to get to the bus stop, ask about it if you’re getting the bus and go on an adventure

Melissa O

The hostel is a friendly space with communal areas in which people regularly congregate Pancake breakfast are make your own but all the supplies are available in the kitchen TV and DVD player are in the living room, piano and other instruments are in common rooms for use by visitors

Even shampoo and soap are available in the bathroom The staff is friendly, the space is clean, and the location easily accesses bus routes into Philly The only thing to remember is: no access to the hostel and grounds during the hours of 11am-4pm! No exceptions

This location is excellent There is a historic trail behind the hotel and it is located within a business park We only stayed one night and everything was wonderful

The associate KOD is the absolute best! She was attentive, polite, and informative upon arrival Her demeanor is outstanding with the guest She helped me correct my booking error She deserves a hefty raise and a bonus!

Andrew Cubberly

I walk into the room and I’m quite impressed It’s a new modern hotel room 2 TVs, no problem Then as I settle down unpack my things I look forward to going in and taking a nice hot shower

To my dismay as I let the shower run and i hop in, I come to find disappointment as the shower isn’t even warm, it’s barely room temp Never got hotter Truly disappointing And don’t even get me going on the eggs in the morning Literally made me question if I got food poisoning

Jolene Rose

The kid was swimming in the pool when someone came in and kicked us out Ridiculous when we have paid for the right to use this pool We had a room with 3 woman and we had to call not once but three times in one day to get extra towels

When the towels were finally brought to use they were left outside our door on the floor How disrespectful 😤 We went our room for the day and when we came back our room wasn’t even clean We called down to the front desk and was told by the rude front desk gentleman that you have to request that your room be clean Again Ridiculous If that is the policy why didn’t someone say that when we checked in Again we had to request more clean towels I would not stay there Rude service, unclean, not working pool, and no one did anything to help correct the situation

Hotel was decorated in a library decor Front desk staff was friendly Needed a code to get on elevator

Down side was NO fridge, microwave or coffee maker in room Also, NO vending machines or ice makersIf ice was needed you need to go to the restaurant when it was open King room was comfortable Loved the glass walk in shower

Rhi Alyxander

-no fridge (except a beat up one we found in the hallway the cleaning staff let us take in our room

yes, I’m 100% serious)-Mac couldn’t connect to wifi until I took it out of my room down to the lobby It was clear that management is aware of this problem, staff are frazzled from having to deal with it, and there is no plan to fix it We were told that it is Apple’s fault, not theirs Like other hotels haven’t figured out how to accommodate Macs-checked us into the wrong room-no free breakfast-free morning coffee is always empty with no one around to refillYes it’s clean, and the poor management gives the staff many opportunities to be friendly How is that adding up to an average rating of 46? I am baffled

We spent two nights here Overall great service Pleasantly surprised by their hot breakfast (Egg and sausage; oatmeal with brown sugar, granola, raisin; orange juice; coffee, bread etc)

A lady at the check in desk was very professional (not so much the first male staff who greeted us) I looked forward to using their indoor pool but they were under renovation! Had I known but the bed was comfortable TV was big I liked that our room came with a full kitchen with a dishwasher and pots & pans

Briana Williams

Let me tell you all about how good my experience was staying at this hotel ☺️ Not only was I a visitor from Chicago, but upon checking in, Tony (I believe was the hotel’s manager) accommodated me by allowing a late check in 2am to be exact after my flight was delayed from leaving Chicago Not only did she place a hold on the room so that it wouldn’t be sold, but she was so graceful and nice to talk to following checkout that morning I would highly recommend visiting this hotel and working with Tony

The staff is very friendly, the rooms were very clean and spacious, and overall customer service was a 10/10 I will definitely be recommending this hotel to all my Chicago friends and family Thanks again Tony 💕

NerdyAndNatural

Suites were nice but for the price I would’ve thought the hotel overall would be more upscale and updated I selected this hotel as I was getting married and needed a room to get ready but now I think it would’ve been more worth it to stay at the Hilton next door as that one looked much newer Bed was comfortable and everything was clean, however the wifi was spotty and the TV was running on antenna and wasn’t getting all the channels

Ended up hooking my laptop to the TV just to have some form of entertainment Also when checking out the hotel elevator broke down so we had to walk down 12 flights of stairs which was not funNice room, but I won’t be back

Key piece of advice when staying here: set your expectations appropriatelyThe good:- The front desk staff was very nice and helpful!- They had a room available at 11:30pm at night- Close to the airport with included shuttle service

– Parking here while we were away was reasonabley priced, ~$10/dayThe not so good:- The room smelled damp- The bathroom ceiling had been damaged from excess moisture- The sheets were really cheapI didn’t set my expectations very high so I was pleased with my time here

Quantum Soul

The hotel itself is great! The front desk staff not so much We had reservations but the two girls working overnight decided to give one of my rooms to someone else Then when we arrived they wanted to argue with my husband about it just to turn around and give us the two rooms we needed but told us not to bring our pets

Our original reservation was for two rooms both accepting pets I brought my dogs into the room for the night regardless and will NOT be staying here again! I wish companies like this would hire the right people and train them correctly 😋

This review is given two stars, but could have easily been 4 or 5 The good…the hotel seems very nice and is very clean Breakfast area was done nicely and pretty decent food

The bad…service, service, service Party of 3 checked in All parties on the reservation Only towels for two in the room 30 mins after call, we get another towel Next morning, we leave the hotel easily by 09:30am Come back in evening and room service has not been through So now, damp towels from before Unmade beds No coffee for room in morning Too exhausted to have crew come through, who knows how long it would take This building has a lot of potential, gotta get better management/staff

Jeana Schreiber

Beautiful fixtures and modern interior Bed was comfortableWould have given it 5 stars except a lot went wrong

1 There’s only one elevator in the building and upwards of 7 weddings in a weekend This makes it difficult for people to get to and from their rooms to the different amenities2 Door keys don’t work well One room you could get into the room using the digital key, but not the key cards The opposite was the issue in our other room3 Showers leaked all over the floor When showering the water would pool on the bathroom floor and soaked through the towels and other things4 Usually hotels give four towels for a standard room We were given three

Julia Sanders

I recently visited this location as a bridal hairstylist vendor I met my clients in one of their Bridal Suites The lovely lady at the front desk walked me to the elevators, which I thought was very personable as well as helpful to the bridal party

The room was very well lit and had more than enough space to move around comfortably I was able to find parking in the front, which made carrying my bags in very easy

The rooms are dated (if that’s important to you), but mostly my concern is carpet which was very dated and felt dirty (i didn’t get close enough to thoroughly inspect, just wear your flip flops and it’s fine) The AC and fridge were both pretty loud but just white noise so that didn’t bother us too muchFront desk people were all very nice and answered any questions we had

Pool looked clean but we didn’t get a chance to use it Breakfast room is small (i guess not everyone eats their free breakfast)Neighborhood: i mean the mall is in view which also means lots of restaurants and next door is dominoes which for us was a great option for a late dinner Not a great place to walk around since you’re surrounded by main roads but we managed a stroll and it felt pretty safe

Grace Gardner

This hotel was actually so awful I came here on a school trip and we got our room and it wasn’t cleaned since the last stay, my classmates rooms weren’t cleaned either The beds were messy and the bathroom was gross

We ended up getting new rooms and the sheets didn’t fit the bed The toilet wouldn’t flush and numerous other rooms had plumbing issues too The downstairs wasn’t being used because there was water damage in the basement There weren’t many breakfast options either The bedding was practically just sheets, it gave off creepy vibes and a 13 year old was hit on by another person staying here The only reason I’m putting 2 stars and not one is because the pool was great, and the outside was pretty cool I do NOT recommend!!!

Melanie Garbaini

Great location Outdated decor/ rooms Extremely dirty pool with no running filter and hardly any chlorine

Friendly employees Front desk does not answer the phones though Breakfast was very simple So not try the Blueberry waffle mix, it’s awful Bed was comfortable Rooms did not receive service Stains on shear curtains No dark curtains to block out lightThere are other hotels in the same area that are probably much better

My husband and I want to express how much we enjoyed our stay at your hotel We enjoyed your hospitality from the time we walked through the doors Our first encounter was with Ray the GM at the front desk who treated us like royalty

From then on, every encounter with your personnel was excellent We have been in the hospitality business all our lives and we know that to attain that level of service is true dedication to the industry Keep up the great work, have a very prosperous and successful season Once again thank you

Courtney Lee

Did not appreciate the customer service! I got woken up by house keeping asking what time I was going to check out at least 2 hours before check out time Needless to say when I checked in they did not confirm the accuracy of my reservation and I thought I was staying two nights Then less than 5 minutes later before I could check my reservation someone came to my door and rudely gave me attitude how I needed to be at the front desk to clear up the miscommunication about my reservation

Meanwhile I literally was still in my pajamas! I told them someone would call the front desk and they said no the person who made the reservation had to be at the front desk in person I also did not appreciate how he wasn’t wearing a mask! Why do they have signs everywhere saying masks are mandatory per law yes they will give you attitude right in your face without a mask! This person should be appropriately reprehended on appropriate customer service So distasteful

Ivy Medina

I could not leave this establishment without first leaving a review of the quality of care and cleanliness that I experienced during my stay The room was not only promised to be clean, but was met with great follow-through There were a couple of issues, for one, the card key didn’t work well which made coming in and out of the hotel inconvenient if not parked in the main parking lot

It was also inconvenient to go up to our room only to have to return back to the lobby to get the key reset (more than once) The second issue that we came across was the lack of parking space The lot was full and we had to park on the side street late at night Apparently there is overflow parking here in another lot, but we were not aware of this as it is not aforementioned on paperwork or by the staff upon arrival Upon departure we saw that we had received a parking ticket Now although these occurances could have been negative complaints, as you can see by my 5 Star rating, we have left here today extremely happy When I approached the manager, Ray, about these issues he was kind, professional and sincerely concerned He made it a point to remedy the stresses for us with a huge smile and a huge heart Other staff members, cleaning service and front desk help, were kind and helpful as well Due to the level of courtesy, cleanliness and impeccable customer care I not only give this hotel my 5 Star rating but I also look forward to staying here once again knowing that even if things don’t go perfectly, as they often don’t in life, the staff here knows how to give the very best care! Thank you!!

My stay was courtesy of CHOP, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, due to some much needed repairs to my house to make my home asthma safe for my sons The front desk staff was kind and courteous The rooms were a very nice size and very comfortable

I wish it had a bathtub, but it was still a comfortable room The room was also equipped with a two burner cook top, a full size fridge, a microwave, and a dishwasher One of my burners didn’t work, but it was okay The breakfast buffet was tasty It even had a vegetarian meat option There was also a nightly Manager’s Reception One night we were offered pizza and a salad with a sweet treat and a beverage The next night they gave everyone a chicken or beef cheesesteak with potato salad and a beverage I had a great time playing with my boys in the heated pool Overall, I had a very pleasant experience I gave 4 stars because one staff member seemed to display a little more kindness and courtesy to some of the guests than to others In spite of that, I would definitely stay here again I’m actually thinking of booking a room for my annual birthday getaway

My daughter was injured because the property failed to install the deck drains and secure the lids properly The drain lid clearly stated that they must always secure the lid with screws provided After my daughter was injured the General Manager only made excuses as to why they did not secure the lids

Unfortunately the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act (P&SS Act) is pretty clear in the matter, which this property fails to comply with I was told someone from their insurance company would reach out this past week Zero contact from the property or their insurance Time to start moving up the chain and alerting everyone to avoid this property as who knows who else will get hurt due to this property’s lack of concern for guest safety

Stay at this hotel for two nights for a baseball tournament, from 7/8 to 7/10 It was approx 20 minutes to our places play Staff was very helpful from check in to out, I mean all staff down to housekeeping

Very nice considering all the boys that were there for the tournament Every time walking passed some one, they said hi, how are you Rooms were big and spacious, clean Hotel is right near a Cracker Barrel, Wendy’s, and gas station if you need anything They have coin operated laundry there if needed

We arrived late in the evening and were welcomed by a warm, helpful, professional associate (Michael) He put us in a great corner room, with a cool river view Throughout our 3-day stay, we were impressed by the friendliness of staff (from front desk staff to housekeepers), who went out of their way to greet us with a smile

The location is unique (in a good way!); use of the old Ironworks as a concept was fun Most importantly, our room was clean and quiet Will stay here again!

Nice, clean, and kind staff! We had a very nice experience The staff was friendly and accommodating The rooms are suite style with a small kitchen

The couch pulls out to a full size bed if needed The decor is fresh and modernGreat experience all around! Would happily recommend!PS – Only odd thing was that the keys stop working automatically at 10 even though regular checkout is at 11 They keys are required for all doors and elevators

Very modern and clean Staff very professional They had all the amenities, excellent fitness center

The suites are perfectly stocked and clean- will definitely stay here any time I visit the area The 2 trips of nearly 20 days were excellent at this property I would recommend the Marriott property above all the Hilton properties I stayed at over the last 2 years

An overall fair experienceTo start, I had reserved a king room a few weeks ago On arrival at 5:30pm, was informed that no kings were available

We were given the option of taking an immediately available double queen or waiting for the king We had a concert to get to in less than two hours so we opted for the double queenThe room was at least very quiet, but it really looked pretty worn See the pics below for the quite worn desk chair, rusty hardware on the furniture and what I can only assume was a missing shower caddy? on the shower wall leaving a residue of adhesive Felt more like a two star motel rather than a 3 star hotel roomThe lobby area was quite nice however, and they serve cookies at night in the lobby, which is a “sweet” touch The hotel is also within walking distance of a Target and several chain restaurants which was convenientOverall, relatively affordable but I probably would not stay again unless I had a worse experience at a nearby hotel

ROOM: I was extremely happy with the room accommodations I got a 2x queen bed room Lots of lighting, desk / counter space, and closet space

Mini fridge actually got coldSERVICE: There was no room service unfortunately the weekend i stayed There was one housekeeping staff that was extremely rude and attempted to literally walk through me near the elevators as i rounded a corner It was a moment of a game of “chicken” The service staff in the lobby at the reception and at the breakfast were excellentLOCATION: very safe, with frequent night patrols by hotel security, which i appreciated The hotel is tucked away in an area with nice grass and trees Only minor downside is that it is not in center city itselfOVERALL: would return
