This will be the third week that we have stayed at this hotel and it has been one of the most pleasant stays The staff are always so friendly and helpful The breakfast far exceeded our expectations, although they do run out quite quickly on the weekends

😉 The rooms and hallways are always clean and smell fresh (previous hotels we’ve stayed at have reeked of weed and cigarette smoke) The rooms are quite and the location is excellent Easy access to expressway and many restaurant options are very close/in walkable distance We will forever be customers! Thank you for making this place feel like our second home

We stayed in the queen studio suite and it was a very comfortable room to stay in! Our towels were so plush and fresh We thought the ability to swivel the TV was a nice touch to the room layout! The full sized fridge and well stocked kitchen supplies were also very helpful Check in was easy and quick! Our room was right next to the stairs and it was loud at times, it sounded like guests were running and dragging items through the stairwell

At one point in the late evening it sounded like guests were having an argument and shouting at each other in the room above – better soundproofing or a reminder to guests to not disturb their neighbors could have been nice

We stayed in room 314 the past weekend I highly appreciate having a pack and play (that we requested) before we got inBut, I was highly disappointed when I pulled out the sofa bed at night

The sheets were not changed from the previous guest and was filthy I couldn’t even open fully and closed it immediately I had a guest sleep on the floor for the nightI travel often for living, while traveling with family, this is completely unacceptable I expected higher standards from Marriot especially during COVID

My room was as expected, clean and comfortable However, the purpose of leaving this review is to shout out the absolutely amazing front desk staff My service at check in was great, but Gil and Melissa went above and beyond for me

I needed assistance at almost midnight with printing documents and they did not hesitate to help me with my odd request Was much appreciated!!! Thanks guys 🙂

Darren Walezak

Great views on the riverside and the room was very nice The front desk team was very accommodating Nothing to complain about but if there are certain amenities you want to use the day you check in confirm in advance if they’re working

Staff was light so they had to have shorter hours so I couldn’t use some Not a deal breaker for me but I can see how for some it could frustrate

My boyfriend and I stayed here to attend an event at Devos and it was nice to be able to walk inside to get there and not need to bring jackets or drive/park The Lumber Baron Bar on the first floor is one of our GR favorites, even though this was our first time staying in the hotel we come often for the great drink menu and atmosphere The front desk staff was kind and welcoming and got us checked in right away

We parked in the parking structure, which turns out was free and that was a nice surprise It was disappointing that our shower was not clean, (there was a bunch of hair on the walls!?) otherwise the room was fine The bed was very comfy and we were given the option for a room on a higher floor which had a partial view of the river If we had stayed more than one night, not having a fridge would have been a bummer, but we were just there for the event and didn’t want to drive after so that wasn’t a big deal this time I would stay again for the convenience for sure

Stayed here for 8 days with my 2 kids for Junior Gold and we couldn’t of been happier with our decision The location is surrounded by a ton of places to eat and shop The employees were always nice and helpful

All the facilities worked(pool, exercise room), the comp express breakfast was on point Food was delicious and always had plenty to choose from The cafe lady was amazing! She works so hard! Always say hi and converses I did not sleep well(but I never do in hotels) but my kids slept great each night so I’m assuming the beds were comfortable enough The only flaw in the room is that the mini fridge wasn’t that cold I’d prefer it to be colder Maybe there’s a setting that I didn’t notice? For the deal I received through Junior Gold, it was well worth the stay and would have no issue staying here if I’m out in Grand Rapids again

Ann B.

This place has been great the older women who does breakfast is so sweet They have free laundry here and will give you detergent and dryer sheets! The morning cleaning crew has also been great with minor cleaning for my week stay The pool and hot tub are always open and clean

I went down with my 6 month old and had the pool to ourselves Very calming I recommend the King suit

Jill Tatrow

A few girls I went to high school with got together for a girls weekend at the Holiday Inn Express off AlpineWe specifically booked this hotel because it’s in the “middle” for all of us and because they have a pool and hot tub We’re old(er) and were very much looking forward to the hot tub

When we got to the hotel it was clean, the front desk attendant was very polite and our room was just what we asked for, though the beds were a little hard but hey, it’s a hotel, not homeWe then ventured down to check out the pool and hot tub Much to our dismay, the pool and hot tub were filled with young teenage boys from a traveling baseball teamThe hot tub water was literally brown from a younger boy bringing his Matchbox cars from outside into the hot tub and the dirt had destroyed the once inviting waterWe asked the front desk attendant if there was any way it could be cleaned He didn’t have anyone available on staff to do it and he didn’t know how (completely understandable!)We had a good weekend and the staff was fantastic, the breakfast was amazing, more than I expected from a hotel We were just bummed that adults weren’t able to enjoy the pool and hot tub because of the kids

Booked a room on Bookingcom which said no age restrictions for check-in Reserved a room for my 19 yr old daughter and her 20 yr old college roommate and they would not allow them to check in stating check-in age was 21

This is a contradiction to the booking confirmation that we received from this hotel that stated no age restrictions that 18 yr old are considered adults at this facility They have effectively stranded my daughter and roommate 5 hours from Marquette, MI with nowhere to stay All the hotels are booked up due to a concert in the area This is unacceptable We spoke with the manager Josephine and explained to her that our kids were stranded 5 hours away all hotels were booked and surely she could have made an exception since it was the hotel’s fault but chose not

Ward Ashley

The only thing good about our stay was the gentleman at the front desk For $160 I was not impressed Very dissatisfied for this being a Marriott property

Rooms weren’t cleaned efficiently, pool area was disgusting Not sure if it was chocolate or poop all over the floor in the pool area Brown stuff floating all over in the pool as well Water was freezing!!! Toilets barely flushed Stains on the beds Mold in shower Breakfast area was okay but complimentary coffee was always cold Will never be returning to this property

Weird layout to the rooms We liked the sitting area but not impressed that there isn’t a sink outside the bathroom Plumbing is INSANELY LOUD! Woke up this morning to what literally sounded like a person repeatedly smashing on our wall with a large hammer

It was from the pipes due to the people upstairs taking a shower Crazy insane loud! NOT a good way to start your day Toilet doesn’t flush properly, we need to take the lid off the tank and mess with the plunger Lock on bathroom door doesn’t work Pool area is VERY small The place is quite clean though and a very well stocked hot breakfast (coffee was very good too) Staff was very friendly and helpful

NehNette Swanson

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel!!! From the moment we walked in, when we received a fabulous welcome from the desk attendant, to the time we left, with more kind words from ANOTHER desk attendant, we were so pleased with this hotel The room was beautiful, clean, nicely appointed, and comfortable I noticed others comment on noise–that was not our experience even though the hotel was fairly full with lots of children running around

The complimentary breakfast the next morning was tasty and nicely laid out, and the lounging area was great Our only disappointment was the rain that started to fall just as we walked out to enjoy the outdoor firepit Not their fault! LOL! A great stay at a nice hotel with terrific staff Two thumbs-up!!!

Veronica Phoenix

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful However, we asked for a quiet room away from the highway, which we did get, but they put us directly above the firepit area which was supposed to close at 10 or 11pm There was a sports team out at the firepit ALL night

We called the front desk multiple times starting at 12am to no avail It was 6/7am before the party broke up – loud music, loud talking We paid to get sleep and got no sleep

Very happy! Our room was very clean, and the sheets and duvet were amazingly soft We had a double queen room and it was very spacious for our family with a really nice counter with a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge Jamie at the front desk checked us out, and he was so friendly and wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves

Brittney, our waitress for breakfast, did a wonderful job Breakfast had a lot of variety, and was delicious Would stay again!

Anne Stratton

Oh my This would be a 1 star rating at best but the woman working at the front desk was so genuinely helpful and considerate that I give 2 stars She was VERY friendly, helpful, and really seemed to care

A true asset to the hotel that left me leaving without being terribly angry as none of it was her fault The hotel is in need of some MAJOR cleaning and major repairs I had many issues during this stay, from no hot water at all in the evening, broken hair dryer, towels that smelled really bad, lotion that had clearly been used by another guest, filthy dirty carpeting, no working phone to call front desk in the room, etc I would not stay here again, but again the only saving grace was the front desk help, so I do appreciate that I have a picture of my socks which turned BLACK on the bottom after walking in the room for about an hour No kidding

Corey Whitworth

Stayed a single night in a king size suite The bathroom included an extra large shower area, however the toilet area was somewhat cramped The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious

Getting to the rooms beyond the conference rooms area was a bit confusing and the side door leading to the parking lot seemed to be finiky with our room keys Biggest complaint is the breakfast was $10 per person for an underwhelming selection Would not choose to stay here again as we’ve had better amenities at similarly priced hotels nearby

You never know what you’re gonna get with hotels but this one did not disappoint! I selected this hotel after reading the reviews and I’m glad I did Great location The staff from the front desk to maintenance were so kind

The complimentary beverage station and cookies were clean and well stocked The breakfast was great Tons of selections for everyone The most important thing was this hotel was clean clean clean!!! The cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in The rooms were spotless Smelled clean The beds were comfortable The only “complaint” would be the event room by the pool was rented out and they are allowed to use the pool even though they aren’t registered guests Not trying to be a “Karen” but with 30+ people coming in and out and the pool not being overly large, it was chaotic My kids decided to leave after a little bit The arcade was a rip off but my kids were excited to see one there Would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

Melissa Mack

This was such a pleasant hotel The staff was friendly at every point throughout The breakfast was unexpectedly diverse with food choices and there was lots of seating around the breakfast area

The rooms were very clean and updated The pool was warm and the hot tub was also well cared for Staff quickly brought more towels when needed and there was plenty of seating around the pool We will definitely come back again!! Keep up the amazing work and kudos to your staff!

Derek Saynor

Very clean and well appointed hotel Good complimentary buffet breakfast with nice range of hot and cold selections Excellent indoor pool with hot tub as well as a well equipped fitness room with cardio and strength training machines available along with a good business center room

Only reason for the demerit is there was no housekeeping in my room after the first night of a 2 night stay

The only thing that I was happy with is the continental breakfast and hot coffee There was a display with a complimentary bottle of water that read “Ask about me”

And when I asked I was told it was something they were doing a long time ago My question is why not take it down if you are know longer offering bottled water The rooms are dirty, some rooms were so bad that people asked to be moved to a different room The hotel is located in a drug infested area The staff was very nice and pleasant but that did not make up for filthy rooms I was there on business and if I had a choice in the matter I would have never chosen that hotel I will never go there again

Muktar Abasanbi

This hotel is very clean and the front desk people were nice My only recommendations are1 The windows are not sound proof

The noice from outside is loud2 I recommend putting toothpaste in the bathroom3 There is no smart TV in the room My kids tried to watch something on YouTube but the TV doesn’t support YouTube (not smart)Everything else, wonderful!

Ashton Fuoss

The room was okay, a lot of things were broken I smelled weed coming from somewhere at night The front desk attendant who checked us in did not answer my questions

He could not find our reservation at first, did not want to explain why I was being charged an extra 50 dollar deposit after I paid for the room months in advance We picked a room with a jetted heart shaped tub, the fixtures only produced water around 85 degrees and the spout was loose The doorknob on the bedroom door was brokenOverall not horrible, but not at all worth the price

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars all around

Here are the reasons why I didn’t First, the hotel is in a perfect location You don’t get the river view, but otherwise you are central to everything downtown The rooms are quiet, except from outside noise (from the windows), you definitely have city sounds that creep into the living space all night long But if you have a 1 room suite, shut the bedroom door and you get total silence But my major dissatisfaction came from 1) the website said there was evening drinks/appetizers offered Sun-Thur but when we checked in were told it was only light appetizers on Wed evening Second, breakfast kind of sucked They were out of one or more items each morning (No cream for coffee, no potatoes to go with the eggs, no fresh fruit, it really changed daily) They kept saying they were waiting on a truck, but I really think they just were not ordering correctly as this was the fourth Hilton property we’ve stayed in over the last two weeks and no other property had this issue, including the one I’m at now writing this reviewI do want to give a special shout-out to Prentice He was extremely helpful and friendly If anyone deserves a raise, it’s that guy for sure Thanks for making our stay better

c “!1:1!” edrington

Big comfort rooms, mini kitchen, tableware on shelfGreat breakfast in the morningStaff at desk friendly and courtious

A bar on main floor and roof top with selected hours The waitress really great; smile at greeting, checks on you if additional order wantedPool lower level of hotelSecurity nice: room key required entering from outside sidewalk (after7pm), and to rooms 3-6 and roof top loungeFamily stay or business; it’s a nice getaway, hope to return

Timothy Hagerty

Awesome location in a historic building in Grand Rapids Close to everything that can walk just about anywhere in the city which is great The staff was okay as had to see front desk people three times to get a key to work for the in and out for garage

The garage is a little pricey compared to rest of garages in area, but hotel does provide in and out access which is nice Room was perfect for my wife and I with our toddler as he had a bed in the living room area and we had our private bedroom We could cook which was nice, but biggest positive was having a full size fridge after visiting the Fulton Street Farmers Market and the Holland Farmers Market Would stay here again if had kid with us just for the space of the rooms

This place is great! Super convenient to downtown Holland and local parks The staff is super friendly and welcoming If you are a Hilton Honors Member, you’ll be greeted and provided a welcome bag and letter

something that seems to have been lost at other properties This was also the first hotel to offer me a room upgrade as a Diamond Member in over 2 yearsand the King Balcony Suite was awesome! Additionally, the $15 credit for each guest can be used at happy hour or breakfast in the morningSpeaking of happy hour, $4-7 for hand crafted cocktails and tall craft beersa great deal whether you are a guest or not Great deals on brick oven pizzas and appetizers too!We used this as an overnight Staycation from Grand Rapids, we will definitely be back!!!

Liyra Lawless

Location and staff were great, spent some time talking with Ray at the front desk, he and the rest of the staff seem to truly enjoy their jobs and take pride in their workThe only complaints I have would be with the building itself Minimal carpeting causes problems with echos through the halls and make the walls seem pretty thin

Our room had a sliding door for the bathroom that was only mounted at the top causing the bottom of the door to sit away from the door frame at the bottom as well as the track end not aligning with the door frame causing a crack of about an inch and a half of space where one could see into the bathroomIt was a lovely time and we enjoyed our stay, but there are a few improvements to the building itself that would make for a much better experience

JT Kirk

This hotel gets 3 stars simply because of the great location and the clean roomThe negatives:- lights in the room aren’t controlled by the light switches nearest them- the shower is very poorly designed- no mini fridge- no microwave- bed mattresses are thin- poor value for money

Lovely stay at this wonderful location I’m not into the traditional Bed and Breakfast where you usually stay in old accommodations with old decor and then eat breakfast with strangers We stayed in the New York Loft with every detail taken care of and a delicious breakfast delivered to our room in the morning

Whirlpool tub, comfortable king size bed, tile shower, and heated toilet seat with a pool nearby We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing stay in this little oasisThe bathroom in this unit was a little small for my taste, but this did not detract from the experience

Cs Josey

Relaxing, super clean, private retreat Many special touches with the bird hoses with chirping baby birds, slightly splashing water fountain, hammock and chairs for relaxing Beds were spacious and comfortable with plenty of pillows

Fresh baked goods in the kitchen and a snack basket in room upon arrival Heated towel bars, heated toilet seat- more hot water than one would expect for such large jacuzzi tubs- filled completely with out running out Hosts value your privacy, but are easily contacted for any needs you may haveHaving breakfast delivered to the door around 10 am was AMAZING!Well worth the trip!

Erika Fleming

We stayed in the Upstairs Guest House (Note that this room’s jacuzzi only fits one person) Everything was clean and organized; the staff were kind and attentive; and communication from staff was very clear leading up to, during, and after our stay

We loved the couples massage, the hot breakfast delivered each morning, the bouquet of flowers, and even the DVD selection We enjoyed walking around the local area too Would highly recommend for a weekend away!

My family and I (8 of us) went to eat here today My dad picked this place, and to be honest, I pre-judged this place and did not want to eat there Their food slaps!! It was so good, especially for the price!! I had the perch dinner, side salad, with rice pilaf and a perfect roll

I also tried the bomb onion rings & potato skins Also, Hands down thee BEST SERVICE I’ve experienced in the last 2 years! Super clean too Truly, check this place out!

Michael Kridler

This place is really great Katie gave us awesome service and the food was delicious and delightful Everyone was more than satisfied with our meals and we will be returning for more soon

I had the Cobb salad which was a good choice for me as it was meaty and delicious Burgers burritos and ghoulash satisfied the group I would recommend the sweet potato fries

Beverly Heilman

Stopped there Sunday after church They wouldn’t seat us for about 20 minutes because the kitchen was behind Ordered our food and drinks

After 15 minutes we asked if we could have our drinks My eggs were cold, not even warm! My husband ordered a waffle and when he got it it was so tough he asked for a steak knife! The waitress said she had made so why would you serve a door stop? My silverware still had food on it when I unwrapped it! Also the toast was burnt! Very disappointed because we do like to go there Maybe a while before we go back!

Even though the hotel is more like air b&b on check in I found it quite easy to get in & find my room It was very clean for a dog friendly hotel The dogs were very cute and the room had dog bowls and dog friendly furniture

My room had a washer and dryer in the room which was very nice Full kitchen stocked with cooking pans coffee and good quality coffee If I travel back I will make sure that I stay there! The design was really cool, the view was excellent I asked for a high level floor and I received it I was so happy about that I wish I had stayed there longer was my only regret

We loved the location, the amenities, ease of check in and especially that you were dog friendly! We were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to (it was v cold, so a few places we took an uber) Most dog friendly hotels just let you bring your dog The Morton, they WELCOME your pup! From the treats in the lobby, to the canine decor in our room, to the bowls and dog bed in the room we felt very comfortable and welcomed

The kitchen was amazing and had everything we needed to make breakfast every morning (except paper towels) The property was spotless and super secure I can’t say enough great things We will definitely be back!!

This apartment style hotel was a new experience for me, so I had no expectations or previous experience to compare to Ethan, the hotel manager was outstanding from a customer service standpoint Checking in was a tad challenging but that’s because I don’t fully read emails (check in instructions are detailed within the body of an email and I missed those details because I didn’t read the entire message)

Ethan sent me the instructions over messaging anyway, and after that check in was smooth The key fobs are so much better than traditional hotel keys! While we did not bring our pup this time, I appreciate the dog friendliness of the property The Morton is going to be my go-to place to stay when we visit the GR area from now on, mostly due to my experiences with Ethan!

Let me start by saying I typically do not write negative reviews… but enough is enough1 Less than pleasant staff at check in

2 Quoted one price over the phone (not through an app) and charged something else We tried having this fixed Emailed sales, requested to speak to manager and just got blown off ever day Super unprofessional3 We were told we were going to have a kitchen We did not Our mini fridge didn’t even work4 People in our group asked for their room to be cleaned day after day over our 7+ day stay and still nothing until day 65 Other people in our group we charged $90 less per night FOR THE SAME ROOM as us!!!! Ridiculous6 Breakfast was not the best, but nevertheless something was available so that was a plus They did open it early for us one day so thank you to the breakfast lady You were the only kind person there There were so many other small things were very annoying and disappointing, but I’ll just leave it bePlease save your money and stay somewhere else They do not deserve your business We’ll gladly take our money elsewhere in the future Lesson learned

If you are looking to give them business I advise you to find another hotel as this location does not care about customers For 16 weeks I had to chase down Crisanna the wedding block coordinator Excuse after excuse was given and after 16 weeks of being blown off and no one caring, I finally said forget it

Customers shouldn’t have to chase people down to give you business Left four complaints with the GM Patrick and heard nothing This was probably the worse customer service I have ever experienced when trying to give a business money 16 WEEKS of chasing people down for nothing I would not recommend this facility to anyone Very disappointed

Stay at Home2 regularly with work travel They are doing a great job here Room is clean, bed very comfortable and plenty of toiletry supplies

Breakfast is better than the last couple I have stayed at and coffee is always ready Parking lot cleared of snow and walks treated for ice, so customer safety is obviously important Would recommend for your stay Was here for 4 nights

The good-Most everything This hotel was very comfortable and quiet The beds were super soft and the sheets were silky

The rooms are very large and have a kitchenette Full sized fridge, sink, and dishwasher Dishes are provided for your use There was a TON of counter space We had two queen beds and a pull out couch The fitness center was pristine clean Good sized pool 55 feet Hot tub was nice and warm with jets I slept the best at this hotel out of any that I have stayed at You can’t here the highway at all Breakfast is free It was okay Omelettes and breakfast sandwiches were made ahead of time and kept in a warm box They had cereal, waffles, yogurt, fruit, juice, and toastThe bad- Fire alarm went off at 7am for unknown reasons It was very disorienting and irritating By time we were dressed it was off I did not have a hot shower the whole time I was there Water was warm at best Air conditioning was very loud We turned it off over night Housekeeping staff (girl with blonde ponytail) was very rude to my son when he went into the fitness center to grab a key I had left on the treadmill ( I was standing in the doorway He was not unattended) He didn’t say what she said but he was in tears

I’m a Diamond member with Hilton and travel virtually every single week and always stay in Hilton properties This one was pretty disappointing One of the elevators was broken

Equipment in the fitness center is broken Since the elevators were taking a long time I decided to take the stairs and it smelled like something died in there No matter what my status has been with Hilton I had never been charged for the cheap bottles of water before The good ones yes but not the cheap ones and I was charged for 2 of them on this trip Not a big deal just the principle The room was fine with the exception that the dispensers in the shower were empty but everything else was exactly why I choose Hilton properties
