Ansel Burch (Ansel Burch)

I stayed here for a friend’s wedding The room was comfortable and well appointed There were plenty of extra bedding materials available if someone wanted to use the couch for additional sleeping space

The continental breakfast was just what I needed after a night of dancing The only negative I would point out is that the coffee you can make in your room is really, really awful

1000and 1meal

The service at the desk is friendly and if you have any question you will get a friendly answer Thanks for thatThe question is… why I gave them only 2 stars?I got a large room with a lot of space

It was cleaned and everything was in it´s placeBut, from my perspective, when traveling internationally, price and standard don’t match for me It seems a bit old-fashioned and less modernAnother problem for me is the connection of the hotel to the local infrastructure Gastronomic establishments and shopping facilities can only be reached by own car or the hotel’s own shuttle service You are cut offThe hotel offers breakfast, which is included in the price I have never paid such a high price for a room in any part of the value with breakfast at the low quality level One gets full There is enough available But at the point my expectation was different, when I look at hotels of the group in Europe, for exampleWhich is really bad Plastic knife, plastic fork, plastic spoon Styrofoam plates and bowls All disposable dishes that are thrown away after breakfast Sustainability for the good of the environment completely absent Mountains of garbage are produced This is no longer in keeping with the spirit of the timesAll in all, an average hotel But with the above points for me just 2 stars

Hotel is just off I55 Check in was quick Hotel has 6 floors and two elevators

There’s an indoor pool open 7a-10p, a 24 hour fitness room with free weights, two steppers, and two treadmills with TVs, laundry facilities Each room has a coffee maker, microwave, minifridge Ice machines are located on floors 1, 3, and 4 There’s a small area to buy alcohol, snacks, and some small necessities (ie ibuprofen, nail clippers) Our couch had a pullout bed so I’d assume they all do The beds were comfy as well as the linens and blankets The pillows were perfect! There was a sitting area outside with chairs, lounge chairs, and tables mostly surrounded by the pool building and landscaping with sun and shade Free breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage patties, waffle maker, blueberry muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels toast, butters, jams, jellies, and Nutella! They had really good coffee too The coffee was only available from 4a – 12p 😕 This is a really great place to bring kids

The hotel was nice, clean and has a well lit parking area As a female traveling alone, that is very important There were restaurants nearby that were open late

The staff were friendly and I love the digital check in and out The bed was comfortable The room was really nice and modernized If I had to pick one “bad” thing, this location does not give out free water to Hilton Honors members like several of the other Hampton hotels But overall, a very nice stay Would recommend and I plan to come back

S R

Accept for few miniature things, we had an amazing stay The majority of staff was so welcoming, paying attention to our needs

our room was in excellent condition Breakfast was absolutely amazing and showed they really cared Hotel was in great condition overall and it was quite place and secluded for a perfect privacy They did not have a jacuzzi in the pool area which was a bummer but we still really enjoyed it

Kalla Mahar

I’m really not sure how to rate this hotel The room was very small and the beds were not easily accessible to the top bunk The TV was hard to see bc of the bed poles

The one night worker, Joe was not very helpful at first, but got better, I guess Sherry however, was AMAZING There were ants all over our room when we got back Saturday afternoon They had no spray When we used a wash cloth to try to wipe up the ants the wash cloth was filthy dirty like it hadn’t been mopped before we were there We had no garbage bags in the garbages Finally after telling them the ants were in the beds and one bit my mom Sherry went and bought ant spray and found an out of order room for us to use for the night It was even smaller than the other one And obviously didn’t have everything since it was out of order, but I’m thankful she tried She took off half of each nights stay for the issues we experienced The pool is an bad accident waiting to happen The water doesn’t drain around the pool and there are puddles Kids were falling and getting hurt I reported it and they said they knew that it drains slowly and they have someone that will be working on it or is working on it The food was okay, but things were not refilled for the morning I was there right when it opened and I had to ask for them to refill the sugars For a Hilton I expected better

The apt Is clean, stocked with everything you need for your stay

including breakfast items to prepare Plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking, clean up as well as bathroom needs stockedThe free parking is wonderful, great area for walking the neighborhood, close to restaurants, and very drivable to downtownReservations, check in and check out were accomodating and helpfulI can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our recent stay

Sandy V

My husband and I recently stayed in one of the Chicago monastery’s guest apartments and thoroughly enjoyed it Our space was in the church, tucked up over the sacristy in a former large storage area converted into a private, quiet, cozy and comfortable living space – it felt like a secret hideaway! There were 3 bedrooms (1 single, 2 doubles), a living room, small kitchen, bath with shower, and all the amenities you’d want, including thick, sizeable towels, a quality flat-screen TV (though not huge, if that’s important to you; it’s not to us), comfortable furniture, an inviting decor with many homey touches, and breakfast foods including various cereals, bread, butter, jam, milk, and fresh fruit Fr

Timothy, the Guestmaster, was a delight to work with and so helpful and responsive to our questions, etc He told us the monks did the renovation work themselves and do almost all of the ongoing maintenance The space is warm, welcoming, and well cared for, and the monks really have thought of everything you might need – they certainly live out the Rule of St Benedict in welcoming guests! It was a lovely space and stay and we would enjoy returning if we’re ever in the Chicago area again Well worth the donation we made Highly recommend

Stephanie Chase

The setting and service is so lovely — whether in the Loft Apartment, where breakfast is served to you and you can occasionally hear the monks chant, or in the Garden House, where your fridge is stocked with breakfast items and you have a lovely deck to sit and enjoy the sun, the Benedictine B&B is the perfect choice for travelers heading to McCormick Place who want to stay in a real neighborhoodIt’s easy to get to downtown or the Convention Center by bus, and the White Sox stadium is within walking distance There’s a great coffee shop (Bridgeport Coffee), a great bar (Maria’s), and great food options (Han 202 or Antique Taco, for example)

Be sure to take in at least one prayer service when there, even if you are not particularly religious — the church is a beautiful and serene space, and the chanting is peaceful and soothingThis B&B is a hidden gem

We celebrated our anniversary yesterday and stayed here We were surprised by the hotel with champagne and chocolate strawberries in our room, nice touch 😉 It was a lovely experience overall

Though we could imagine how beautiful the scenery is in the summerwe will definitely be back! The property is huge, pool is big enough to swim laps, there’s a hot tub too Gym is also very big There’s a cute restaurant that over looks the lakewe didn’t get to try it because we arrived after 3pm and it’s only open for breakfast and lunch but you can still get dinner later in the bar/lounge Clean, beautiful, relaxing property and staff was very nice as well

Jo L

One of the most romantic hotels I’ve ever stayed at Rooms were clean, and a big plus is that they have windows that actually open and you can get some fresh air in the room The front desk was professional and attentive

The design of the building and the location give you that unique lodge feel, like you’re somewhere in the mountains of Austria Great stay, and will stay here whenever I’m in the area They are dog friendly and the prices are more than fair $25 daily pet fee and 60lbs weight limit

Marian Jones

Love love love the location The scenery was beautiful The rooms could have been cleaned

There was dust every where My niece room had a spider web in the corner of the room with a spider So that room hadn’t been cleaned in awhile The bathroom sink had mold or something around the faucet So i did cleaning myself Because staff said the rooms don’t get cleaned until the 3rd day

I expected more I guess The rooms were okay beds were comfy but they said my room came with breakfast and they later told me I couldn’t get it Double trees usually give their guest free cookies but everytime we asked they were out (kinda a reason we picked it)

I’ve stayed at other double trees in the past and had a lot of better experiences Plus the hotel stunk!

Becky Hull

I booked my stay through the park/sleep/fly website because that was the most convenient for my elderly parents and me to find parking for our car during our trip We needed to leave our car for just under two weeks and we stayed overnight the night before our flight We were so tired upon arrival to the hotel, we decided to just stay at the hotel and have dinner there, which was surprisingly good and was served by a good-natured, kind man

(We loved the warm cookies upon arrival too!)Then upon our return, we experienced some difficulty in getting back to Chicago and had to have our flights changed I was concerned because I had given the front desk my return flight info but now everything was different and we would be coming in late at night, on a different day Thankfully, Melissa, who answered the phone when I called several times to try to keep her updated with the changes, was really friendly and helpfulJohn was our driver to and from the airport and he was extremely professional and helpful When John dropped us off at Midway at the beginning of our trip, he was right on time, he handled all our heavy luggage, and he helped my elderly parents in and out of the van We definitely appreciated his kindness! I also appreciated how clear he was when dropping us off regarding where he would pick us up when we returned I can see how many travelers could get confused regarding pick-up but John had explained very well to us where we should meet him when we returned (This saved a ton of time and frustration)Upon arrival to the hotel parking lot, John drove right over to our car and was extremely helpful again with all of our luggage I would like to recommend these employees for some sort of recognition as well as a raise Had Melissa not been so helpful or responsive on the phone, John would not have had any idea about our changed plansI’m incredibly thankful for this good experience and I will recommend your hotel/shuttle service to any/all of my friends needing to fly in or out of Midway Thank you so much

Domminique Kinnie

I stayed here pre-COVID for a family reunion It was great Stayed here this weekend and checked out after 1 day

My room had a weird smell There was a half bottle of water that I’m guessing the previous guest drank out of It was left on the table with the other bottle of water and still had the $200 Hilton tag on it like nothing was wrong There were brown spots in my bathroom sink Maybe makeup? Not sure Hair in my tub that wasn’t mine There is a maintenance guy who I guess checks the pool periodically A lot of kids were in the pool, he seemed to hyper fixate on the black kids when all the children were just playing and being kids He seemed to pick them out I hate to say that, but I observed it twice And that’s what it was giving Won’t be staying here again

Clean hotel, good breakfast We ended up needing a room overnight for an unexpected flight delay so we didn’t really check out any other amenities The shower had the best water pressure I’ve had in a hotel in a while

When we checked in the lady didn’t seem super enthused to be there, but it was late The guy at checkout was super friendly Overall it was a nice hotel

Cory Whigham

My family was stranded by a cancelled flight out of midway around 1am the morning of august 11th with 2 little kids the moment I called the front desk clerk(wish I could remember her name) she was more than accommodating, friendly, and helpful When we got there she had already had new sheets on a pack and play for our son

She offered toothbrushes and necessities since we didn’t have our bags with us She made our bad night much better The front desk lady in the morning was just as great and helpful with everything as well along with very friendly The rooms were comfortable and breakfast was decent as well with that lady being very helpful and friendly as well Would recommend this hotel simply due to the customer service received

Blayre Millard

Do yourself a favor by saving yourself a headache and night of sleep Don’t stay here The traffic is so loud (even on a Sunday night at midnight)

The beds are not queen beds Our shower drain didn’t drain well so the tub filled up as you were showering The door to the bathroom was so heavy, good luck closing it or opening it The attached restaurant has excellent food but was so slow And prepare to pay $20 a night for parking…yes this is just a standard holiday inn with a normal parking lot

My wife and I loved The Publishing House We had a 2 night stay in June and enjoyed everything from the friendly staff to the clean and extremely comfortable room The breakfasts were amazing and the location was hard to beat

Price-wise, it compared favorably to many other hotels in the area which wouldn’t have had the unique charm and high quality breakfast included We will be making this our go-to place to stay for future Chicago trips!

Rebecca Thompson

We rented the entire house for our wedding to provide rooms and communal space for our extended family from overseas to gather comfortably The entire place is truly beautiful, and each room is unique and well-appointed Kimberly was easy to work with to make the weekend special, and we are already thinking about how we can use the property again for an upcoming family reunion! Can’t recommend highly enough!

P K (PK)

My Chicago office is nearby and I was suspicious when I found a B&B in the area (this was a few years ago, a few moths after they opened)I think the best endorsement I can give is that some 5 years later I am still staying at the Publishing HouseBetter yet the experience is as good as ever

Rooms are spotless and each one has its own great vibe and unique details (i have stayed in most of them at some point) and the breakfast is always amazingIf you are looking for a low stress, yet high end stay this is your best option

Had an excellent stay at this hotel We really enjoyed staying here and will recommend it to others My only complaint the entire time was that the pool was a bit cold

The staff were very friendly and accommodating at every turn Breakfast was great with lots of options for both hot and cold food I was very impressed they even offered almond milk for cereal and coffee

Leanne Clements

The rooms were clean and spacious The lobby, pool, breakfast area and grounds could of used some attention Unkempt to say the least! Breakfast was not very appetizing

We had an issue with our room door jamming and it was handled very unprofessional by the staff The clerk on staff was even using choice 4 letter words dealing with his frustration with the situation! The next day for our inconvenience, I was told I would receive an email with points enough for a free room for any Hyatt Place Of course, that never came Very disappointed!! I would not recommend nor go back to this hotel

Have been satying on and off here with work several times over the past few months so have a decent idea of the place The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful with anything you might need The rooms are OK not great or bad but get the job done, kitchen is great, bathroom is great, the beds are alright not the best but the sofa in the room is the worst most sorry thing you’ll ever sit on

The only really outstandingly bad thing is the air con/heat; every single room I’ve had the unit is extremely noisy and will buzz all night making it extremely hard to sleep As long as you keep in mind it’s a 2-star hotel it’s a decent choice

Jeff feyrer

This was the 3rd time in the last year we have stayed here in the last year They have been usually very nice but, I noticed they charged me for a 2 bedroom suite when we stayed in a 1 bedroom suite This resulted in an over charge by $85

I called them to tell them this and spoke with a lady by the name of Ashley, who was very unwilling to rectify this She said their rates vary and wasnt willing to look back about this We stay quite frequently in Lombard and the next time will consider their unwilling to help me in this situation on whether we will stay there

Danielle Driver

I would have rated this hotel better but the stay was literally just ok The cleanliness of the room are just ok The guest above us would not stop bumping and moving things around

They had kids so the kids would run all day long They were so rude that when I finally called the front desk to complain they did nothing, they just said ok and that was it, mind you I complained several times and they people above us kept doing the same thing every night! I was so frustrated that I couldn’t wait to leave The only two things I liked about the hotel is the area with restaurants close by, malls, stores but not the hotel itself and certain staff members are good Ms Hatti was my favorite Very sweet and kind person and always spoke and always asked if we needed anything The pool is outside only, the gym room is small but still efficient, the breakfast is ok, they have a small laundry area but you have to pay $2 for washing and $2 for drying but their washing machines doesn’t wash the clothes completely and the dryer doesn’t dry completely You have to dry at least 2 or 3 times so that means more money out your pocket! Before I forget, the let out couch, HORRIBLE!

It’s a cool space with a unique history and I love that But it wasn’t the building or the room that stood out for me, it was the staff I am going to give a big shout out to Natalie and Alejandro at the front desk who truly exemplify stellar customer-facing service

but more than that, were just kind, friendly, lovely people who made my time away from home a little less painful I would come back to the Hyatt House for the people who work to ensure a positive guest experience Thank you!!

This hotel spent over 100 years as a hospital The rooms were amazing with a full kitchen We were able to get a suite for 167 a night

It was amazingI paid for the hotel up front, but couldn’t secure parking after one night in a hospital garage, the staff was able to secure us a spot in their lot 10 dollars cheaper a night Appreciate youOne thing I wish they did was give us a map of the area with how close the “L” was We had to figure it out on our ownOverall, the staff is amazing and now I know I can navigate the city from this hotel, I would definitely stay here again

Very close to the United Center, short walk or a 7 dollar Uber Really close to the blue line and a train ride into downtown Chicago! The rooms were wonderful, clean, and the bed was very comfy Doesn’t have a microwave would be my only complaint but not really an issue

Staff was wonderful and I would definitely stay again! Food court located inside and a really nice spread for the free breakfast including almond milk

Overall, an okay stay My family of four stayed for a 3 night stay Not once did we have our linens changed, room cleaned or trash picked up

Also, no fresh towels there were toys from likely the previous guests inside the room goes to show the room was not cleaned well beforehand There were red stains all over the carpet The amenities were why we stayed – Free parking, free hot breakfast, and the pool My kids enjoyed coming down and the selection of food It was convenient, but I would not come back based on service and cleanliness

I booked a room a month before and I arrived at 4:30pm only to be told to wait because the room was not ready and that they were inspecting the room I waited half an hour with my husband and two children, we were tired and hungry after our flight When I asked why the room wasn’t ready when check in was at 3pm, they didn’t have a specific answer

After that, another woman came and said that she would give us a better room That was really nice but all I wanted is a room I booked and check in on time Breakfast is ok, nothing special Two stars only because of the check in process and because the housekeepers come every third day And after the third day they changed only one bed sheet and left the other dirty The location of the hotel is great!

At first I was a little apprehensive when we saw the place, however had a wonderful experience there The room smelled fresh and clean Wind during the summer time, was grateful to discover that the AC worked really well, And was surprised With the scolding hot shower shower after coming back you’re coming back from A very rainy cubs game

The people were friendly and the doors automatically lock when you step outside so do make sure you remember your keys It was only 35 minutes away from Wrigley Stadium, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a nice cheap hotel that’s clean and not too out of the way

Crowne Plaza is an IHG hotel, which is why I stay there However, I while I honor the chain, I question the “pay for breakfast” option – the quality and selection of which is comparable to any other free continental at most other hotels The bar is adequately stocked – but not incredible, and the rooms are about par for their price

What saves this review from being 3 stars is Heather at the front desk She is kind and intelligent, super responsive and worthy of at least a raise and bonus Where the hotel itself was lackluster, she provided the shine and then more

Hearing protection required! This hotel is located directly at the Interstate with paper thin walls and windows This was a hell of a night

To be fair, they have rooms facing the rear but said they were all sold outAt checkin we were told about the hotel breakfast The next morning we were asked to pay for it even though it was never mentioned before In addition the breakfast is average at mostThis was the one and only time I stayed there Only giving it 2 stars because the rooms were clean and the bed was decent

Nick and Kelley made my business trip much better Nick was always on top of it at the front desk and took care of everything I needed even though he was definitely doing double shifts and had every reason to not help me out, even when working on his birthday! After a long days work Kelley was a welcome sight at the bar/restaurant and took care of me and my coworkers and went above and beyond what I expected from this hotel These two along with the friendly front of house staff and shuttle drivers made my trip much more pleasant

First of all, we dealt with Madison on the phone and at the front desk FANTASTIC representative for this hotel She was informative, cheerful, and remembered our name when ever we talked with her

A great asset for this business We were in town for a wedding celebration held nearby at Noon Whistle Brewery (another great place) and we hosted an after party gathering in our spacious, clean and wonderful room Kitchen suite had seating for 6+ without having to sit on the bed One of the nicest places we ever lodged athighly recommend

We stayed 2 nights First night was quiet and our interaction with staff was friendly and pleasant Second night, the people that were staying in the room above us had a party with loud music

At midnight we ran the dishwasher to cover all the noise At 2am, the dishwasher shutoff and some of the people were outside talking and laughing I called the front desk to complain The music volume did go down but they talked louder and began to stomp their feet Fifteen minutes later I complained again and front desk said that it would take awhile to evict them Thinking things would get better, since they were being evicted, I waited 30 minutes before calling the front desk again When I complained the front desk seemed surprised I hear one person say, in the background, “they are still loud?” The person on the phone said, “we’ll send security” The music volume did go back up, but stomping of the feet and laughing reduced It was apparent the front desk wasn’t going to do anything Finally at 6 it got quiet When I checked out the gentleman at the front desk said security did go back at 3 (my final complaint) to the door but didn’t hear anything I will never stay at this hotel again My advice to anyone considering this hotel is to record the noise so management can hear it the next morning and prove staff and security didn’t do their job or run the dishwasher all night
