Horrible hotel, I stayed there for over 4 weeks and had nothing but trouble How about I told there staff several times about the back door not working and as a paying customer I couldn’t come through the back door to my room which was close to that door almost for a week I was told someone would fix it and they never did

Probably still messed up to this day Then there cleaning service is a joke They made my bed with the sheets that I already slept on I mean when I asked for my room to get clean I am looking for clean sheet My whole stay no one never changed out the moldy shower curtain, I guess as a guess I am not entitled to a new curtain for sanitation reason The only friendly staff they had there was the kitchen staff They made great meals and were well liked because they went out there way to have a conversation It seems like everyone at the front desk was just to good for the customers to even talk

Michelle Appleyard

I received an email today stating that The Residence Inn was unable to accommodate my 2 Queen bed stay but had instead moved my family of 4 to another hotel at a cheaper rate Come to find out that the room they were able to secure us was a King bed instead of the 2 Queen beds that I needed to accommodate 4 people Posting simply to say – beware of any upcoming stays at The Residence Inn Summerville as they may get “cancelled” due to “maintenance issues” and you’ll be left to find another hotel on your own as they will absolutely not take accountability for the “maintenance issues” and comp any sort of discounted rates

I would beware especially if you booked as part of any upcoming convention rates as it seems those rooms were the first to be moved due to the “maintenance issue” according to their front desk staff I was able to secure a much nicer hotel at a cheaper rate in the same area

I came down to visit a family friend that I only get to see a couple of times a year Upon arrival the lady at the front desk was super friendly The rooms were clean

I normally don’t wash clothing at hotels but I wore a very expensive sold out track suit (300$), and spilled a spot of drink on it on the way down, and decided it needed to be washed The wash cycle is 27 minutes I took a bath, got dressed and went to the laundry room to put my clothes in the dryer wnd they were gone After realizing my stuff was gone I contacted a hotel employee at the front desk to have camera footage pulled only to find out this hotel has no cameras I was told to wait till the morning to speak with the manager I went down this morning only to be told that I left my clothing unattended and it was basically my fault because I left my clothes “unattended” The fact that the manager was so nonchalant about this establishment not having Cameras is crazy to me Please be advised, people disappear from areas like this all of the time Next time it might not be clothing, but someone’s daughter or son that disappears Very disappointed in my stay here, especially considering I was basically at fault Also there are no safes in the rooms either so if someone steals your valuables out of your room I guess that’ll be your fault too

It was fairly cheap for the area However the shower was awful felt like a pressure washer The shower curtain wouldn’t stay closed and soaked the floor

The beds were so soThe hotel does NOT have an elevator If you have luggage beware The free breakfast was really weak A few juices and muffins Not much more than continental style

S. Hart

Needed a hotel for a family emergency and stayed at this hotel Was able to receive the room at a really good rate, so that made my stay okay If I had to pay full price for this room I would have been terribly disappointed

There were a number of maintenance issues, things not working, holes in the wall and dirty carpet This could really be a nice hotel, but it’s at a crucial stage and can go either way If the repairs are made money invested it could be really nice, if not in a few years, this will be a run down MotelBottom line if you just need a hotel, the price is super super low and within your budget stay here If not, and you can afford to pay more find another hotel The saying is true for this one you get what you pay for

Today, a few minutes ago, me and my dad went up to the front desk and the check-in lady, Nancy, was there A housekeeper told us to go to the front desk So, we went there, and my dad told her that he wanted the room clean

Nancy was saying that our room wasn’t gonna get cleaned today Then my father said he wanted his room clean Also, he did let him know 4 hours prior he was gonna be out Nancy then asked if my dad would like to speak to the manager on the phone My dad said yes he’d like to Nancy wouldn’t let him get a practical statement out and she had an attitude and a smart mouth She wasn’t nice at all, and she’s done that to other people also My dad’s seen it himself We were in room 103 Housekeeper said that a guy would be coming at 3pm to help since they said they were short-handed Last thing, we’ve been staying in the hotel for around a week or 2, for our house to be ready We’ve never asked for them to clean our room every single day It’s been 3-5 days last time we asked Housekeeper said before we went to our house that the room was gonna be cleaned

Hotel was really nice Would have given overall 5-stars but I generally stay at the Savannah Hwy (Charleston) location which is much larger and more spacious Room was much smaller than I was expecting

Hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating I had an issue with the A/C but it was handled right away Hotel was very clean, very quiet and plenty of parking Due to the location of the hotel, rooms do not provide much of a view but an excellent place to stay if attending a concert at the North Charleston Coliseum or Performing Arts Centerliterally right across the street Would definitely stay here again👍🏽

NTrahan777

The team here is awesome! I travel extensively for work and my time here in Charleston has been better for witnessing how well this team works together and adapts to the oddities they face There was a power outage and all systems were knocked out The team on duty worked so promptly and well to ensure guests did not wait long to get settled

Very impressive! Also, they are across from the Convention Center and Coliseum- very convenient for one of my planned activities! The rooms are spacious and have full sized refrigerator and dishwasher– very nice for when I don’t want to eat out every night!

Janice Honeycutt

Absolutely the best stay we’ve ever had at any Hilton property anywhere Rooms are huge, services are outstanding, price per night is extremely affordable and the staff was phenomenal! Sheba was an outstanding member of the front desk She enhanced our stay by recommending her personal favorites in the area and each one we tried was spot on

This is somewhere I would come back to when in the area and seek out not only for the value, but especially for the staff! I’m a devoted Hilton fan and this just further cemented my loyalty to the brand

Perfect Even though my room faced I-26, I couldn’t hear the highway There was a fire pit I saw people enjoying, but I didn’t use it since it was unusually cold for SC that night

Also, the breakfast included was actually a voucher worth $24, so I just loaded up on fancy smart water and snacks since I was on a road trip Overall, a good value and nice hotel No safety concerns and I was fortunate to park right out front and saw security doing patrols too

Amber H

Very nice hotel despite the surrounding location Friendly staff, excellent bartender Only flaw was the room phone not working and noticed stains on the inside of the pillow but they had 2 pillowcases on them probably for that reason

The alarm clock was also turned on and we didn’t know until 5am the next day but oh well We loved the complimentary cookies and waters upon arrival

Chris Ransome

Had a really good time in Charleston The rooms were very nice and clean The staff at the front desk (African American lady) was super amazing

I watched how she interacted with other customers as well and I have to say, that is the type of customer service that you look for when walking into a location I wish I had ask you for your name because you definitely need the recognition that you deserve 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿

This is a nice hotel the rooms are clean They’re all so spacious enough for two people or a small family No more than four in the room to be comfortable

The staff was very friendly from the airport to the front desk and very hospitable Very informative great suggestions of restaurants around the area depending on your taste And most of the things in walking distance and depending on how adventurous you are everything is in walking distance The workout room is really good it’s probably one of the best workout rooms I’ve seen to offer a nice circuit training or sort of a CrossFit type workout it’ll definitely keep you active The breakfast was also nice

Heather Schafer

My girlfriends and I planned a weekend in Charleston and chose to stay at this hotel It was such a wonderful experience Our beds were comfortable, the room exceptionally clean

The best part of our stay was breakfast and the warm greeting and service from the breakfast lady, Mrs Donna She was a beautiful light in the breakfast room and one we certainly missed the second day we were there She made us feel at home and her laughter filled the room You could see the others engaging with her with smiles on their faces She’s a rare gem!

Sandor Vaczo

Julia, you don’t have thank me I meant to give your staff and facilities every one of those five stars They deserve it

I stayed there so my family could be close by while I had a major surgery at MUSC Your employees were very attentive to all my pre, and post op needs 24 hours a day My children and wife got the same treatment too, and were very impressed Besides the convenient location and modern amenities, they created a five star resort like atmosphere We will, definitely, be back next time aroundThank you, Sandor

I love Homewood Suites and usually try not to stay anywhere else, but this hotel needs a lot of work I requested a different room after the one I had smelled a little musty and the couch was dirty The second room smelled much better but the couch was very dirty ( I covered it with a sheet to sit on it) and carpet was dirty too

Staff was awesome, breakfast was very nice Please update soon

Devon McSager

Clean room Great breakfast with many options Staff was helpful, friendly, and worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed

We did the app check-in (because we were getting in late) and the app key I wouldn’t do this again, maybe it’s my phone, but it was difficult to use and if I had been there longer than one night I would have preferred a physical key

Besim Uğur Üstünel

We came to the hotel late in the evening after 4 hr of driving with 2 little kids This is a huge hotel with 5 floors and probably few hundred rooms There was a staff of 1 in the whole hotel

We first waited in the reception and then someone appeared 5 minutes later on her phone walking slowly towards us and asked if we want to check in Anyway we got to our room and realized the toilet was cloaked and called reception, same person said she was alone but would try to find a plonger After 30 min there was no news and we called back she pretty much gave an attitude and hung up on us because she was busy with someone else At that time it was nearly midnight so we went to sleep without being able to use the bathroom We left the hotel at 6am and told the new receptionist what happened and she said they did not know anything and they will get right to it We came back to the hotel at 10am and it was still not taken care and we had to call maintenance again Can’t believe they can treat customers like this We did not even receive an apology

This hotel was cute and clean The breakfast was hot and there was a variety There was dinner every Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday night

My space was clean and the staff was friendly They keep the front doors locked and you can only access with your key I really like that Their coffee station is small but they have everything including oat milk, sugar free vanilla syrup, and cinnamon powder 😋!

shutupbear

Lets start off with the service because it was phenominal and argueably the best part of the stay Staff was always very friendly and personable I was greeted warmly everytime i was seen

Southern hospitality at it’s finestThe rooms were well furnished and well sized for my stay I was there for a mpnth and it felt like a small, established apartment The A/C will freeze you out of the room for sure, not sure if the thermostat was calibrated properly but at 72° i would find myself in pants and a light jacket while in my room The only complaint i have is the bugs Bugs are a problem in any humid climate and should be mostly expected By no means a roach motel but maybe more than there should be So if you can deal with a few bugs this place is awesomeLocation is near plenty of restaurants and maybe a mile from Wal-mart for those that have extended stays Right next to the highway for easy travel and walking distance for most basic needs The surrounding area at first glance seems pretty rough and might make most people uncomfortable but, everyone that i personally encountered was very polite and helpful so don’t judge the area at first glanceOverall pleasant stay A few negatives but a vastly positive experience 7/10 would recommend

My husband had to travel to South Carolina 1 week per month for 6 months I have been with him 3 out of his 4 trips so far Each time we stayed here

We LOVE it here The employees are super friendly ! The rooms are Big and modern The breakfast in the morning is VERY yummy! Plenty of parking Everything is nice and clean The first time we booked I was alittle bit afraid after reading some reviews that it’s located in an un safe area and that there is some Shady dealing going on in the parking lot We’ll, iam not sure where those people were staying because this place is VERY secure As long as my husband has to come to this area of South Carolina for work, this will be our home away from home!

Rooms were clean, pool was warm with clean towels readily available Beds were a more firm than I prefer but that is just preference Breakfast had plenty of options to fill us up

John who worked evenings here was great Friendly and gave us options to eat out at It’s always nice to have a friendly face who seems to care about the workplace and the people who for a short while come and go That is what stood out most to us We will return on our future trips to the area

Tiffany Mann

Absolutely love this hotel! We stayed this past week to visit family and the staff were excellent, especially the front desk and acting manager! Unfortunately the staff had to deal with a pipe burst but they handled it quickly and efficiently, moving guests and paying for the night The staff appeared calm, although tired We felt for them

Some of the other guests were clearly taken everything personally which I know had to be frustratingEven then, the stay was the best we’ve ever had at a hotel The rooms are clean and well furnished Furniture appears either new or well taken care of and breakfast was yummy Will definitely be returning here the next time we are in town Thank you staff! ♥️

Ms. Wanda Ramos-Lewis

For the price we expected better Wasn’t horrible just wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here…for the price there are other hotels in the area that are betterOur biggest issue was housekeeping

As soon as we checked into our room, our toilet had feces in it and the toilet seat had some type of yellow matter on itThey came and cleaned They offered a 25% discount off the room rate for one day However, no discount can take away that visualWe called and asked to have our room cleaned and house keeping never came My daughter had to wash her white pants and something foreign was in the their washing machine and ruined her pants They will compensate and that’s nice, however this hotel in general seemed to be understaffed and not preparedI’m giving this hotel 3 stars cause the manager and staff were nice and they tried their best

First, Carol was super accommodating and welcoming When we got there, we found a sweet card welcoming usThe room was one of the most comfortable ones we have ever stayed in – I LOVED the little writing nook

My husband said it felt more like home to him than anywhere else we have beenBreakfasts were wonderful each dayThere was a small room near ours with books, games, snacks and drinks, plus there was ALWAYS coffee (and tea bags, if you prefer) which is a definite winShe also gave us some great advice about where to visit in the area and also how to find decent parking in downtown CharlestonIt’s a beautiful and clean place, the location is great (not far off I26) and while we came to visit Charleston, Summerville also has a cute downtown area just a minute or two away from the B&BI definitely recommend this place, if we ever end up back in the area we will be planning to return ourselves

Myra Inman

Where do I started? Check in/out was a breeze Breakfast was just great, a new version every day Very quiet, walking distance to restaurants and a park

Hostess is outstanding We will be back and I will request the same room again with the patio and the fragrant smell of Confederate Star Jasmin bush Miss it so much, met 2 wonderful couples

Joseph Ausanio

Where do I begin? I decided to take my wife to the Charleston area for her birthday I booked with Caroline about 2 months in advance I decided to book the Presidential Suite

We arrived for our 3 night stay a little late because the line at car rental at the airport didn’t allow us to get there between 4:00 and 6:00 pm No problem Caroline made herself available once we arrived and escorted us to the suite Check in was flawless and the suite is so tastefully decorated The grounds are impeccable and tranquil Caroline asks how you like your breakfast and let me tell you The breakfasts are absolutely scrumptious You feel like royalty when you sit in the dining room If you are lucky, you may just meet Sophie and Chloe her 2 Yorkies who are welcomed breakfast crashers They were one of the highlights of the stay We wanted to see them every day We can’t forget to include Caroline’s husband Jerry A fantastic personality and a great storyteller He kind of maneuvers behind the scenes but we had the chance to get to know him and truly enjoyed his company There simply aren’t enough adjectives I can use to describe how incredible our stay was I wish I could give 10 stars It’s honestly that great of a place Looking forward to staying in touch with our new friends and of course returning to the best B&B with the nicest, most professional owners around

Room – Awesome as always with HomewoodLocation – Conveniently right off the highwayService -1) The people were great; just needed more of them (chalk that up to the times we live in, and the poor govt decisions made beyond the GM’s control);2) Do the degree possible, need to make sure inventory is ordered properly to keep hot items (hot eggs, meat selection) stocked throughout the entire breakfast window (since we haven’t seen this issue at other locations, I’m not prepared to attribute this to a supply chain problem)General: Overall, it’s been a good stay; that said, strongly recommend that management raise to Corporate the need to get some people talking to local, state, and federal govt (ie The Hill) as needed – the labor impacts to the Hospitality industry really should not be there nor accepted

Shanta Green

The hotel is short staffed but they receive 5 stars because the staff that I encountered really ensured that my family and I had an enjoyable experience although Expedia dropped the ball Special shoutout to Latisha who was super friendly and patient all while wearing multiple hatsThe hotel was pretty clean and I dont have any complaints about the facility

I would only recommend that you request housekeeping because they only come when requested

Hotel is disappointing Unbelievably rude staff, no greetings at all – just tossed the key cards on desk The employee working the desk on 7/23/22 at 2:30PM needs to be terminated immediately

This will be addressed directly with MarriottThe hallways stink like mold, old bonfire and perfume used to cover it all up No fresh air in common areas at allRooms are disgusting and need major renovations Carpets ripped, ceilings are warped, paint falling and chipping off everywhere Again – horrible smells Shower has no water pressure, no door (by design, but doesn’t work as it should in these rooms) and mold/mildew all over ceilingThe night of our stay there must have been a Madea family reunion – every single common area, pool, hallways and parking lot were packed with people just screaming and yelling with no regards for any other guests They literally arrived and unloaded from a greyhound bus The staff didn’t seem to care at all, but any normal facility would have immediately asked this group to please be courteous to other guests$250 a night! Complete rip off, not worth $70 We were scheduled to stay 3 days for some medical appointments at MUSC Ended up leaving ASAP the next morning after we both work ip coughing and congested – moved to Hampton Inn around corner $100 less a night and difference of night and day in staff and cleanlinessMarriott has gotten progressively worse over the years and I don’t think the pandemic did much to help them Have always used both Hilton and Marriott for work and always leaned towards Hilton when possible, but after this fiasco I will NEVER set foot on a Marriott property againLong story short – do NOT stay here Way better options all within walking distance and far less per night

I would never choose this hotel again We were in town for a music festival Requested early check-in which was not available when we arrived

The front desk staff ‘checked us in’ and we stored our luggage in their secured boardroom After a few hours, I received an email that our reservation had been canceled No phone call?!! I immediately called and said we had already checked in and they have our luggage, the lady was 100% completely rude and unprofessional on the phone She said to come get our luggage because they didn’t have a room for us my card wouldn’t go through which was complete BS She refused to offer any help or further explanation How would we be checked in by the first person, if they didn’t see our phone number or have a valid card? They messed up and overbooked and screwed us out of a room They will NEVER get my business again and I will never recommend anyone stay here Pure rudeness and unprofessional behavior Thanks to the Hilton Garden Inn for accommodating us!

The rooms were very clean the staff was very friendly especially the lady in the breakfast area I can’t say that I would stay again though because my partner and I both had a horrible night sleep I had thought about trying the pull out cough but there was no extra bedding in the room for it; and when are pull out beds ever comfy? My second complaint is that they put the ice bucket and cups in the bathroom

If I do have to stay here again I will request to see the room first before excepting it

I hadn’t been back to Charleston since 2016, which was a few years after I moved away First off, I have to say that Janet Webb’s genuine kindness is what I miss most from living in the south You can tell it’s more than a job for her and she honestly cares about the guests

Secondly, I’m a stickler for details and have a tendency to go over rooms with a fine tooth comb before I even get settled The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable I wouldn’t change a thing and definitely plan on staying there again the next time I visit

While the staff was very friendly, the room was not what I would expect for $189 a night The bathroom door was very rusty, the bathroom didn’t look very clean around the tub We stayed 2 nights, our first morning there, I was awaken by room service walked into our room at 9am

Our second night there people were yelling in the hallway all night, at 2am I had some random guy banging on my door The parking lot is joined with an econo lodge parking lot, we walked to the gas station and there were homeless people in the parking lot We were in room 317, also the toilet would run all day and night if you didn’t jiggle the handle And the WiFi would not connect on my phone, it would connect then immediately disconnect I saw a lot of great reviews for this place that’s why I booked here, just wanted to share my experience For $69 a night I would have expected what I got, but for almost $400 for a 2 night stay I was definitely surprised The only thing I can compliment about this place was the staff, they were excellent

Knew this place was going to be a problem when we walked in and we saw another couple trying to make reservations somewhere else in the lobby The person behind the counter looked no older than 16 When we got up to the room it smelled musty

The air conditioner was held together with tap The bathroom door wouldn’t stay open The 2nd night the safety latch/lock which you are only supposed to able to lock from the inside, flipped open and locked us out when we arrived back to our room that night We went down stairs to get assistance, no one was down there, and behind the desk was FULL of bugs After 30 mins of ringing the bell and calling, someone finally showed up to try and help us get back into the room Finally after another 30 mins of trying to get into the room and many calls to off the clock housekeepers she was finally able to unlatch the door with a landyard and some other tool to get us in The girl did her best given her resources but not an ideal situation to deal with Overall a very disappointing stay for a memorial day weekend trip

The hotels in what they call the “The Phate” area of Charleston can sometimes be unpredictable in quality, even those brands with good reputations It’s nice to see that this tucked away gem is still holding true Extremely nice, courteous and understanding staff

Well laid out and clean rooms, great parking and to top it off, they actually have a hot breakfast that many still advertise but don’t offer I enjoyed it as much as someone could possibly enjoyed a hotel stay and I will stay here again without a doubt

My first time in South Carolina and we were pleasantly surprised by the Southern Hospitality! The staff was really nice We stayed here on 4/22/22 and had a wonderful stay The hotel is in a safe area & very short drive (5-10 min) to the Charleston waterfront

This hotel is well maintained and the staff is very personable and courteous The rooms are clean and neat and well appointed Very good parking with no additional parking fee They also have a good hot breakfast (bacon, sausage, oatmeal, eggs, cereal, fruit, Nutella!, breads, etc) with excellent staff attending to it The beds were very comfortable tooWe were so impressed by the excellent service & hospitality We do need to mention the management, Brenda Pieper (GM) & Raven-Symone Tilghman (Asst GM), who went above & beyond They were both extremely courteous, professional and they value their guests Outstanding hospitality! We would definitely stay here again & highly recommend!

I stayed 3 nights with a wedding party The hotel grounds and rooms are very clean Nice modern decor & TV

Comfortable bed, I was lucky and had a microwave in my room A few wedding guests didn’t have microwaves, but there is one accessible 24 hours in the lobby My one suggestion would be to ensure microwaves are in every room, especially with the bar not open until 5 pm Staff is friendly Hotel is close to stores/restaurants, I would absolutely stay here again

JD Brown

Great hotel Nice to have a restaurant/bar so you don’t have to leave for dinner Rooms were nice and very clean

The only issue that I had was with breakfast I was not told when I checked in that you have to order breakfast the night before and was a little upset walking down for breakfast only to find out I was not able to get breakfast

bigtata84

Excellent experience overall Special mention to Heather at the front desk as she was very friendly and accommodating along with having an excellent attitude and brilliant smile The room was very welcoming and clean

The bathroom had an interesting perk as the mirror had a Bluetooth speaker built in it! The layout of the room is very functional and a good value for the stay Definitely recommend for business trips
