We absolutely loved our stay at The Butterfly House! Paul and Teresa were fantastic hosts and very helpful and accommodating They thought of everything! There were snacks and drinks available anytime, and the cooler with cold water was much appreciated for all the walking you’re bound to do The rooms were clean, beautiful and very comfortable – we’d love to come back!

The butterfly house is a great option to stay in Madison We recommend itWith spacious and extremely clean accommodations you can relax and unwind

We stayed in the Wisteria room with the king bed The bed was very comfortable and had adjustable head and foot The inverter allowed us to set the temperature to our preferenceBreakfasts were served at 8:30 and always a delicious surprise (day 1 was an egg soufflé with hash browns and yogurt & day 2 was French toast with sausage and mixed fruit)We worked from the B&B for one day We chose to do so on the veranda It was relaxing! The wifi was sufficient for emails and only froze, briefly, a couple of times in the day when my husband and I were on video conferences at the same timeThe location is excellent, between the river and Main Street and just two blocks from the start of shopsFor restaurants we recommend Mad Love for dinner, Shipley’s for the best burger, Red Pepperoni for pizza, and the Attic for lunchFor snacks at the B&B there were muffins, fruit, cookies, cookies, bars, etc available any time with water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate

Nice clean room Breakfasts were lacking They were supposed to last til 10, but when we went down at 9:25, a crowd had cleaned out all the hot food except biscuits and gravy, and they didn’t replace the eggs, sausage, or hot oatmeal

We’re beginning to wonder if Holiday Inn Express is as good as we thought they were We stay at them for their breakfasts, and we’ve been disappointed at 2 Holiday Inn Expresses in one week

Nice staff, great room But the primary reasons we booked at this location was it was on our way and we wanted to let our 2-year-old old do some swimming in the pool Come to our surprise, the indoor pool was absolutely freezing and unusable

Very disappointing I’ll have to ask if they actually heat the pool before I book next time

Kathy Hawn

They were short of staff so breakfast bar was out of food and ran out of coffee The lady working at the check in desk was not helpful when we told her the breakfast bar was out of food and coffee She just kept telling us they are short off help and she can’t do anything about breakfast bar being without food

The rooms were clean but could stand to be up dated I would come back here again

We have stayed at this hotel multiple times now on our way to pick up equipment in Indiana We LOVE it! The staff is so friendly and make you feel like you are staying in their home! We’ve even had them call and check on us because we were later than we expected to check inThe Riverboat Inn is a hotel made from older, historical buildings spread out on a large campus

We’ve stayed in multiple buildings and have found each room clean, comfortable, and quite cozy! There are multiple areas to sit and enjoy the river views while getting to mingle with other guests Yes! I said “mingle” with other guests! In all of our visits, we have found other guests as friendly as the staff Most of the year, they have live music on the back porch and it’s always a great time to meet and greet other guestsThe Riverboat Inn has become one of our favorite places to visit! I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to everyone we tell about our trips to Madison, Indiana Do not expect this to be the five star Hilton But do except it to be a clean, eclectic, and comfortable hotel that will leave you happy and wanting to come back for more visits!PS We were running late due to bad weather and vehicle problems When we called to let them know we were going to be later than expected to check in, we were told where to find our keys and then asked if we would like water or beer waiting for us in our room refrigerator!! They even made sure the air was turned on! I don’t think the Marriott would do that!! Love this hotel!❤️❤️❤️

Best unobstructed view of the Ohio River hands down Great location Comfy rooms with fireplaces, decks that go on forever( or so it seems!)

And heated for the winter!Enjoyed staying at this timeless gem this past weekend while enjoying all the Madison Holiday festivities I’ve stayed at the Riverboat many times and, again, it did not disappoint Always refreshing to begin with a smooth and friendly check in! The room suited our needs very well! Kathy and her employees always go above and beyond! When expressing our disappointment in not finding a golf cart to rent in town(poor last minute planning on our part on this warm December weekend), Kathy had our problem solved in less than five minutes, with not one, BUT two golf carts to accommodate our group! Enjoyed the socializing and live music on the deck both evenings Great band and so many friendly and welcoming people, guests and locals alike! Also enjoyed hearing about the latest updates that have been made in Kathy’s unrelentless efforts to always offer better and more! Best place to stay in Madison, hands down!

The rooms was nice and clean but the beads are very uncomfortable We stayed here for 3 nights and I could barely sleep because the bed was hard with a thin padding on top to try to make it more comfortable which it didn’t help Service was very friendly

We checked in on a Monday asked if we could check out early they said they needed 24hr notice so they said we couldn’t check out til Wednesday which I didn’t understand because 24hrs would of been Tuesday but we ended up staying all of the 3 nights The location is terrible it’s a long drive to all the food places around I just loved how all the staff made you feel right at home even tho your from out of town

My bride and I stayed for a couple nights at Azalea Manor Shirley is a wonderful host and great chef! The room we stayed in was very clean, spacious, and comfortable Hot breakfast was served each morning at 9:00 and offered an opportunity to mingle with the other guests

The historic home is large and beautiful It has been decorated with many period portraits and furniture There is a garden along side the house full of flowers While enjoying the swing (pictured) on the shaded patio we watched hummingbirds and other pollinators visit the flowers We were a 3 minute walk from shops and the farmer’s market We look forward to staying at Azalea Manor again!

Theresa Wells

My favorite Bed and Breakfast thus far, and we’ve stayed in a number over the years First, Shirley, the owner and host, is an absolute delight! And, she’s so knowledgeable about the town and events going on (Even has coupons to share)! We received excellent restaurant info from her, great choices, but nothing compared to the fantastic breakfasts she prepared! From the French Toast, to the fruit filled yogurt, everything was delicious! And, in case you get hungry for a treat, she has a guest station in the dining room with snacks, sodas, coffee or tea where you can help yourself !Did I mention clean? Spotless! We’re already working on a date for our next visit! A beautifully decorated home, charming host, and charming town where you step out onto Main Street to enjoy the offerings of Madison

A walk to the River Front, or just relaxing on the lovely verandas, are just a part of what makes this the perfect get away for any occasion! I can’t wait to be there again! Thanks Shirley!!!

Richwood is a very special place and was perfect for our women’s retreat I felt so welcomed by the staff and surroundings Everything about it invites peace and there were spaces for community, small groups and partners, and solitude

Everything was well kept and clean, but best of all it was like being welcomed into the home of a dear friend I will definitely be back!

Bethany Richards

My best friend and I were in town for the Madison Girl’s Weekend (super fun btw) and attended the night at Richwood It was SO fun! The mixology course was informative and introduced us to a great new drink – Dark and Stormy We sipped drinks, ate our weight in desserts, and danced the night away

The DJ did a great job of getting us onto the dance floor! The house and grounds were absolutely beautiful Did I mention there was an outdoor fire pit and s’mores? Highly recommend checking out Richwood on the River!

Sara Messer

I got married here and it was even more beautiful than I thought it would be

The venue itself is absolutely amazing and the rooms are individually unique The venue owner colleen made sure that all the requests I had were met Her and her staff made my weekend go extremely smooth If you’re looking for a getaway right around the corner, that you can have your entire wedding party and family stay for the weekend then this is definitely the spot!!!!!Another thing that made me love this place so much is that my dog was able to run freely

I stayed 3 nights June 2022 and cannot recommend this gem more highly From the fully stocked laundry to fresh-baked treats waiting in the adorable kitchen, it really felt like staying with a gracious friend – Sandy delivered on several ‘special’ requests kindly and efficiently I cannot imagine a more welcoming, well appointed little getaway

My mom and I wanted somewhere quaint, nearby shops and food The friendly, walkable neighborhood is just offthe river and full of historic homes in various states of conservation and renovation Great for exploring The live music just down the street was the cherry on top!

Our first response was that it “couldn’t be better” and as we discovered the wonderful decorative touches all about , the quality of the linens, the thoughtful touches provided in the kitchen we continued to be delighted Not only is this such a comfortable, charming and relaxing place to stay but it is just two blocks to the main downtown shopping avenue and a few more to the brick walkway along the Ohio River

Karen Bridges

Wonderful experience!! Every detail well thought out and adds to guest comfort Furnishings and linen all top of the line Fresh baked goods left by our hosts!!! Close to all that Main Street has to offer…
