My oh my! What a perfect hostel! We originally booked two nights for my partner’s birthday, and loved it so much we stayed a full week! There’s a pool, kitchen, laundry facilities and ample space for people – everything we could possibly need to exist We even made friends with the staff because they are just so amazing! Everyone is an equal here and accepted in all their beautiful forms I’ve never experienced such a crazy, spiritual, incredible place! We had to wait for some packages to arrive which prolonged our stay a little more, but of course India House accommodates all 😉 it was actually sad to say goodbye to continue our trip, so sad that we have to come back on our way home! Thank you for everything 💖

We arrived at India House hostel on Wednesday and it has been a great experience so farWhen we arrived at 9 PM for check-in we were greeted promptly by Audrey and given taken to our rooms in one of the out houses The hostel’s main building unassumingly seems small from the outside, but has a maze of rooms and buildings in the back that are all interconnected by a pathway

We were staying in a private room with a double bed and twin bed bunk and a private bathroom The beds are surprisingly comfortable for a hostel with clean sheets and pillows The room also had a desk and a small seating area Our room was clean and inviting The only strange thing was that there were some toiletries left over by a previous person in the shower but other than that we really didn’t have any concerns The provided towels were good and we were able to get more if requested which is also really convenientThe hustles amends for the General community there’s a pool (it was a little bit dirty when we were here but we’re gonna chalk it up to people having a good time on their holidays), indoor and outdoor kitchens both with amenities included, a large fridge that is restaurant grade, multiple dining and seating areas including picnic tables outside, and a TV with a bunch of comfy chairs around it in the main areaDon’t forget Taj, the resident cat who reigns supreme in the hostelSome concerns were raised in other reviews about items being stolen from rooms, specifically private rooms We haven’t had any problems with us and the only thing that we’ve even noticed which would suggest that anyone have gone into our room is extra toilet paper

Gabriela Ferreira

I want to start this review saying that I have stayed in hostels in Europe and America This has been by far one of the best experiences I’ve had The hostel is super charming and comfortable

The staff was extremely helpful and nice Shout out to AJ! Every time we went out the managers would ask us where we were going and what we were planning to do and then they would tell us the best way to do what we wanted or go to a different place if that didn’t sound like a good plan to them You could truly feel the community vibes in this hostel The location was great too, not too close to the craziness of the quarter but very close to the street cart We got a private bedroom with a private bathroom The bedroom was simple, but clean, the beds were also very comfortable Our only regret is that we didn’t get to eat the food made at the hostel They serve food every night and the smell was divine!

Great hotel if you are here for vacation!! It was perfect to come back to after a long day of walking AC was wonderful and it was nice and clean! Only complain that I had was that it was hot walking to our room but our AC unit made up for it Beds are kind of hard and pillows aren’t that comfy but it wasn’t even an issue because New Orleans is worth anything! Will be back!!

Tamechia Nedds

When we first arrived the room wasn’t fully cleaned, however James (front desk) stated he would personally clean it…and he did an immaculate job We really enjoyed our stay here The property is was very safe and secure

They have a smoking area outsideand it’s cute They also have a dinning area where the family can eat and watch tv They also provide free coffee which you are allowed to make if you want a fresh pot I will say they did not a continental breakfast, but that’s ok because we came to Nola to try the different restaurants

Eclectic, charming and personal, this is a hidden gem in the French Quarter Very nice staff and antique furniture I enjoyed my stay immensely and cannot wait to return when the pool is open

The staff obviously puts a great deal of care into making the experience special The lobby has coffee and cookies all day, and they have a good collection of books Its worth it to take the stairs and admire the paintings on each floor Comfortable bed and great air conditioning too The balconies are a delight I felt safe and my room was very clean

Rachel Neeley

Can’t say enough good things about our experience here One block from Bourbon street, but it felt quiet and secluded even though we had a street facing room There is so much history and charm here

We hoped to spot a ghost in the hallways but we only ran into the adorable cats that are on staff in the lobby Beautiful room with super comfy beds and pillows Old world charm with modern amenities Fridge, microwave, and safe in the room Nicely done bathroom with original brick walls and new toilet, walk in shower with overhead rain shower head Friendly staff and great coffee bar in the lobby

Stefanee B

The hotel from the outside doesn’t look like anything special You would be wrong! This hotel is amazing! It is so unique! Each room is different There are multiple courtyards to lounge in

Adazia Mellott

Not the best hostel out there, and I’ve stayed at a few If you’re in a bedroom with windows to the street, any street, (and I think like all the rooms face that way) you will be up all night long listening to people blasting music from LED cars, and if you’re lucky enough, there will be the beautiful sounds of the garbage truck picking up the trash in the wee hours of the morning And they take f o r e v e r to collect all the trash

And the hostel was kinda gross, do not recommend Like dirty walls, limited AC, and I questioned the clean state of the bed linens

Lisa Jiardini

Hostel right off Canal Street in the heart of NOLA Bunk bed for two room had only the said bed, a high top table and two stools, but also an air conditioner Plugs plenty for phone charger

Biggest issue is bathroom: wish they had separate toilets from shower rooms as I couldn’t always use bathroom when I needed to plus it could get messy with paper towels flowing out of the garbage can and on to the floor Only one sink in communal kitchen area was difficult at breakfast time But for the money, really not bad place to stay although they are a real stickler with 3pm check-in time! Your code only works right at 3pm!

Maina005

You know to expect simplicity and shared spaces when you book a hostel But you can also expect comfort, cleanliness and convenience Unfortunately, none of these expectations were met

The bed was so old that any movement would make an incredibly loud and annoying sound whenever me or my roommates would move No hangers, no lockers inside the rooms, no personal bedlight, and no space really to put your luggage somewhere Showers didn’t look so clean to me and restrooms are mixed Wifi down most of the time and barely working in the rooms Also, no windows anywhere in the hostel… a bit strangeThe stars are for the staff who was incredibly nice and welcoming Would not recommend a stay there though

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful The room was clean but the sofa was hard to sit on and the bed pillows are too soft The valet service was good until check out

The driver parked my car next to the wall He must have climbed over my seat to get out I had to do the same to get in I showed the front desk receptionist and she just apologized for him The complimentary breakfast was decent The location is ideal

Kyle L

My wife and I stayed here for an extended New Orleans trip in March She was recovering from a surgery and the hotel was nice enough to upgrade us to a 2 bedroom suite so she would have extra space and some peace and quiet The only issue we had during the stay was that there seemed to be some air movement from inside the hotel that would suck air out of the rooms so the do not disturb signs would come off the door knobs and there would be a whistling sound in the living room/kitchen area

The breakfast was good even though they were missing a few items We appreciate the hospitality

Joetta Watson

The reception hour was one of the best I’ve attended and we were really impressed with the breakfast The homestyle grits were our favorite The staff was extremely helpful

My air conditioner was a little loud in my room but I was told that there will be renovations soon so I can’t wait to return We have a 7 rooms booked for our family getaway and everyone hopes to return again next year

We stayed recently on our trip We had traded there with our timeshare We ended up in the penthouse which was a 2/1

Kitchen had enough bit no oven Living room was nice with a sofa bed The bed was really comfortable I wish I had gotten the brand before I left Pillows were comfortable as well It was conveniently located We parked at the casino The pool is good for a soak if anything Everyone staying has access to the rooftop deck Check it out at night Also, definitely have a meal at Mother’s on the corner It was delicious

E Breezy

Loved staying here Everything is within walking distance so it is quite a convenient location However, the room could use better lighting (bulbs kept blowing out) and more mirrors

There were only mirrors in the bathrooms The rusty table on the outside patio needs to be replaced as metal pieces are chipping off Definitely need a table that is rust proof Other than that, I would stay here again

Sandy D

Stayed here by trading my timeshare Our room was large with a full kitchen, HUGE jet bathtub, two sofas, dining table and more I really enjoyed the rooftop patio however do not expect to swim in their mini pool

On our way out the front desk informed us they have tickets to most attractions Why didn’t they tell us when we checked in???!

Fred Robertson

I don’t usually rave about anything, but I was totally thrilled about my short stay at the Site 61 Hostel I was there for the Final Four and was able to book the last bed available I would give every category 5 stars

The owner, Jean, and her staff, Dawn & Matt, were amazingly friendly and accommodating My bathroom was sizable, my bed comfortable and the courtyard outside was awesome I thoroughly enjoyed my socializing with housemates from the US and other countries There was even free parking and the cost was very affordable It was a delightful experience You get an A++++ If I ever return to the New Orleans area, I will stay at Site 61 Sincerely, Freddy Robertson

Patrick Young

I really wanted to like this place because the owner seems like a very nice woman, but they overbooked our room so that when we came back late at night there were other people sleeping in our beds and that caused a whole late night confrontation that ended with us having to sleep in used sheets and in chairs in the lobby There are no staff at the hostel past 11 PM (at least when we were there) so we had to resolve the issue ourselves which was awful We didn’t ask for any type of reimbursement, but they did not choose to offer any either which seems regretful after everything that happened

Not only that, but 1 resident got his car stolen directly outside of the hostel overnight There are cheaper hostels in safer locations with better accommodations I can’t in good conscience recommend this place

herbert jones

As it was my first time staying in a Hostel, I can honestly say it was a new experience and I had a blast Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t hesitate booking Site 61 everytime that I come to New Orleans!!! The accomodations were comfortable and clean The staff was Amazing and Accommodating

Parking was free and on site while attractions were close enough for a short drive I can’t say enough about this place Thank you all for the love and fun!!!

Check-in was easy and all details were emailed to me the morning of our arrival The decor is modern and spacious and it was perfect for my family The only negative is that there was a bit of hair inside of the bedsheets and I had to throughly inspect/disinfect the beds to remove the traces of hair

I would simply recommend that more emphasis is placed on hair removal during cleaning However, once the hair issue was resolved, my family and I enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable during our stay

Monique DARPY

Very nice apartments Very well located in the business district just a few blocks away from French square Nicely decorated

Only critic the kitchen was poorly equipped in utensils not enough plates, silverware, bowls, no potholders to remove things from the oven and the washing machine only worked on hot water and did not spin well

Joseph Raczynski

Much better than expected Modern, clean rooms living inside a historic building Brick exposed, open, and very well appointed

One semi challenge is the noise from the hallways to the rooms Everything seems to carry into the units, way more than you would think Also, oddly, you can feel the footfalls of people in the hallways while on your couch The boards from the floors must run across the entire building They’ve tried to compensate for this with soft flooring in the hallways

Front staff is amazing The cleaning staff is amazing We had multiple issues and they were all taken care of immediately

Even with the NCAA tournament going on One star down because everything was dated and old However, keep in mind that it was still clean Meaning the staff was doing whatever they can to keep something old and falling apart in the best shape possible Kudos!

Natalie G

Honestly, this was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at The staff was super friendly and helpful, it is a good location right next to the Mississippi river and has easy access to highways to get on the road It’s in a good area

I was worried about the area when I booked it cuz you never know, but I felt very safe at this hotel!! Our room was comfortable and had a cute little kitchenette I wish our stay was longer at this hotel, it fit our needs perfectly

Collette Brown

Size of the room was nice for my family of four Could’ve used more lighting The hotel was pet friendly with several areas available for elimination needs

It seemed to be busy, but I didn’t hear the other guests when I was in my room, so rooms seemed to be well insulated My only complaint was the lack of explanation and immediate resolution of the additional two charges for my room totaling $309

We had a great stay here for two nights after our cruise with only two minor complaints First, we had asked the room to be feather free when we booked AND when we arrived before check in Upon checking in later in the day, we arrived to find feather pillows on the bed

Guest services brought poly pillows quickly upon request The second complaint is probably due to staff shortages, but every light fixture in the entire building needs to be dusted My wife suffers with lots of allergies, and seeing the dust on every lamp and light was worrisome Thankfully, she didn’t have any bad reactions The concierge service was knowledgeable and there is breakfast available until 930am (it was hit or miss – we had one good day and one not so good) The room was spacious, shower was hot, and the AC worked We liked being able to was our laundry from our cruise before heading back home Lyft drivers were always less than 5min away and pizza delivery from local spots was available Great location not far from Bourbon St and other French Quarter sites

Carla C

Stayed 3/4-3/5 Suite was very nice However, the thermostat was limited to 70 degrees

The bedding was hot so we tried to put the AC on 68 so that we could be comfortable to sleep, but temp never got below 70 Also, I asked for a set of towels on our second night They brought up towels that were still wet The proper thing would have been to finish drying them, then deliver the properly dried towels

fernando robles

Loved our experience at the hotel The staff were all so friendly and made our stay easy Everyone was very helpful there and checked to make sure we had what we needed and asked each day how we were doing, and after each time we returned they asked how our trip was

The location was central to everything we wanted to do on our trip and offered suggestions for activities Will definitely stay here on our next visit back

I’ve always enjoyed my travels to New Orleans, but have never stayed at such a cool and unique spot! Very convenient location to some of my favorite places to be in the city, and close to City Park, which I have been wanting to spend more time exploring! The building and interior are very well done, and the rooms are clean and spacious! There is definitely a feel of community at the Inn as you wake up, grab you coffee, and head out for the day The people are great and the owner has great recommendations for places to eat and the latest happenings I will certainly be returning!

Courtney Nichols

If you’re looking to “pass a good time,” then I highly recommend booking at the Inn at the Old Jail during your New Orleans stayThis historic boutique hotel is such a gem Each room is decorated with antique furniture and lighting, high ceilings, and comfortable beds— a cozy, throwback touch that makes you want to extend your stay

The Innkeepers, Todd and Nick, is another reason to book For their hospitality, truly made my stay in New Orleans unforgettable They provided an enjoyable property tour, recommendations, music, and snacks!Thank you to everyone at the Inn, and I look forward to staying here again soon!

Elise Eigher

We recently hosted a birthday party at The Inn at the Old Jail and it was phenomenal! The building is beautiful and so artfully renovated, which was the perfect backdrop for our Roaring 20’s theme There was so much space to create a great flow of people throughout with a band, food, and a bar It was also really nice to be able to have rooms available for the guests who wanted to stay, and we made brunch for our guests the next morning

Todd was a wonderful host and very accommodating to all of our crazy planning and decorating ideas The entire experience was so much fun! I can’t recommend The Inn enough as both a place to stay when visiting New Orleans and an event venue

I enjoyed my time at the mansion The owners and staff were friendly and accommodating They provided me with information on attractions, places to eat and I also had a chef come and prepare food for us the last night of our stay

The room was clean with details that paid homage to the city and the history of the home The hot tub was relaxing and just what we needed after site seeing I can’t wait to come back and stay in the other 8 rooms! Great experience!

Austin Lowery

I loved the hosts and the layout of the HISTORIC building There are multiple, unique, themed roomsThe hot tub was awesome, but, I wish the hours of use could extend a little (after 10pm quiet hours)

I get quiet hours, but considering the area out back is quite industrial and under a loud OVERPASS near the bridge anyway, I figure some leeway would be greatMy bed’s mattress left something to be desired, so my back didn’t particularly like the wood under it probably my only complaint It was a great deal, but we moved to a hotel suite the last day of our trip and it was a great improvement, sorry to admitThey were very nice and the hospitality was A+

alli gaona

Beautiful location, the room was just what we needed! It was clean, I choose this room specifically for the tub with jets I always do a wipe down with a Clorox wipe prior to getting in There was nothing on the wipe! It was perfectly cleaned! The check in with the auto lock is so convenient! If you NEED no light to sleep just know there is quite of bit of light that comes through

But if you like a night light it’s perfect! It

The stay was absolutely lovely I plan on staying there again I was in New Orleans for the conference

My bunk mates were really sweet girls who were interested in my research The gentlemen were nice as well They helped me carry my luggage up the long spiral staircase The home is lovely! It was so hot in NO that the AC was well-appreciated They hang out every night! It gives guests a sense of family when they spend time together I was too busy during this trip to hang out too often When I return, I’ll try to get to know more people ❤️

I stayed at Auberge NOLA in July and had a standout hostel experience I stayed in the private room It is more of a suite, nicer than most traditional hotel rooms, and well worth the price

This is a fantastic hostel to stay if you are interested in making some fast friends There are a number of indoor and outdoor common spaces for gathering and meeting new people The owners are fabulous and are very involved with the hostel happenings and regularly plan events and outings The staff make themselves readily available if you have any issues and are delightful people There is also a What’sApp group chat for keeping in touch with everyone10/10 would stay here again

To start off, this hotel did not provide daily housekeeping like most hotels do, even though we requested it everyday

Very odd policy Staff was rude during breakfast and yelled at me for not using tongs when picking up bread Tone of voice ruined my day and they should’ve spoke to me, the guest, with respect Door that allowed you into side building of hotel room remained unlocked 24/7 and really made me fear for my safety Hotel said “It is broken” and brushed it off like it was nothing seriousOverall, staff seemed miserable doing the bare minimum at their job Very uncomfortable pull out sofa bed and hotel claims they could not do anything to make it better Trash overflowed in our room due to housekeeping coming only twice during my week long stay Housekeeping lady and an older lady at breakfast were the only nice people during my stay Everybody seemed to not care for my needs as a guest Next time I will stay somewhere else

This location was dirty I spent the first hour after we arrived wiping down oil and dirt smudges off of the walls It appeared as if children stayed here regularly and no one bothered to clean after them

There was old juice running down the walls There were white, dried stains on the arms and cushions of the couch The couch was super worn The ac in the second bedroom didn’t work, which was uncomfortable in 80 degree weather The pull out bed was covered in old chips and cookie crums This location was convenient but the decor was dated and room was dirty We walked into the room to an aroma of mildew I’m an Elite member but truly nothing Elite about this stay other than being thanked for being a member This has to be the third property I’ve stayed at in the past yr or that has left me questioning Marriott 🤔 Won’t be back to this property

Long, but please read before booking! If I could give negative stars I would The room was clean, and that is the only positive The microwave did not work, the icemaker did not work, and the AC thermostat had a lowering limit which made the room quite uncomfortable in the middle of a heat wave

On our first full day, the pool was still closed for “cleaning” when we attempted to use it at 10:00 am although the stated hours are 9am-9pm Eventually, hours later, someone came and added chemicals but did not clean the pool of sand and pebbles, etc No additional pool cleaning was done for the duration of our four day stay The same day, we realized that we could not connect to hotel wifi When we notified the front desk we were given a telephone number and left to deal with the hotel’s isp ourselves After more than an hour, variously on hold and troubleshooting, appealing to both the front desk (no help at all), and the isp rep, we still had no wifi Upon calling corporate customer service my husband was told there was no recourse for any of these issues When he inquired as to what purpose was served by the customer service number he was told, quite curtly, not to be rude, and at this point we gave up Finally, further into our stay we required additional towels since only one per person was provided My husband spoke to housekeeping, gave our room number, and asked for towels He was told that all of them were being laundered, none were available, and inexplicably, that the housekeeper had already spoken to his wife about it That simply did not happen and I am unsure as to what the purpose of saying that might have been Choosing the Metairie Residence Inn was a huge mistake It was frustrating and greatly reduced our enjoyment of a much anticipated trip The utter lack of concern by the staff at both this location specifically, as well as by Marriott Corporate is extraordinarly disappointing From a 30 year Platinum Elite member, beware

I had a family emergency and needed to cancel a room for the FINAL FOUR, a night where the room could’ve been booked by someone else for such a high demand event Couldn’t cancel with FindHotel, had to call the hotel and was lied to by Ron Ron wouldn’t return my phone call after telling me they’d “look into it”

Left messages, nothing I’m out $600 for a room I didn’t use that could’ve easily been rebooked by someone else Lack of customer service from both FindHotel and Residence Inn will keep me away from these businesses for future bookings for myself and my company The lack of empathy/customer service for such an easy fix is incredible I’ll be disputing this charge with my credit card company

I really loved staying at the Jung Hotel! Check in was easy I thought it was appropriately priced for the location, considering it is a hotel in the French Quarter I liked the layout of the hotel room

I appreciated the location of the safe – super hard to find The bathroom was also really nice, probably the most impressive bathroom I’ve ever seen in a hotel Just very modern and sleek Not having a shower door was kind of jarring but I got used to it! The only complaint I had was that the cleaning service was pretty nonexistent from what I could tell Towels were never replaced, beds were never made We were only there 3 nights so not sure if that had something to do with it Overall, great stay for the price

I visited the Jung Hotel during the week everything shut down during the 2020 pandemicWe had an absolute lovely time during our stay The hotel is very beautiful

Someone plays the piano in the lobby We got a free alcoholic drink with our stay from the bar We got a free tour of the art on the property & the concierge did a fantastic job She also helped us with arrangements around the city & did a great job with recommendations The restaurant in the hotel is award winning & we could tell why The food was spectacularThe room was super nice and spaciousReally close walking to Bourbon Street Located right in front of the trolley
