We stayed here with our soccer club which means lots of kids and lots of noise Every member of the staff was super friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience pleasant We had 2 separate issues (our remote and our AC/heater) both were taken care of in a timely manner and the staff was happy to help

The gentleman working the continental breakfast was super friendly and helpful Would absolutely recommend They also made checkout/checkin easy for such a large group

Daryl Diddle

We are quite picky regarding cleanliness, and the place was clean – room, lobby, pool area (which was more like a small, indoor water park – our teens loved it,) etc Not fancy, but neat and clean The bed was one of the most comfortable we’d ever slept on – which is a high compliment coming from my wife, who has some back issues

The woman who took our reservation in the afternoon was super helpful and kind For the price it was a no-brainerThe only reason this was not a 5 star (I’d give it a 45 if I could) was the breakfast – the waffles tasted like chemicals and there was no milk for the cereal We asked for milk, but it didn’t seem like anyone was really interested in going to the store and grabbing some I suppose good help really is hard to findWe’d certainly stay there again

Ron Richer

Hotel Staff were friendly and responsive, the room was clean, pots, pans, and dishes were there and clean BUT I was told that there would be hot breakfasts again in time for our stay and there wasn’t When I complained, the desk guy said that they did have hot food on Special Days – like on Wednesdays

I felt that I had been cheated

Brandon Recknagel

Rooms are pretty good But there’s NO HOT FOOD FOR BREAKFAST

I’m here during Midwest Horse Fair, an event that brings in about 35,000 people a year for the weekend The Queen size bed feels smaller than usual to me And I swear the pillows are 3/4 their normal size I try to give companies the BOTD when it comes to the whole COVID “we can’t find employees” thing, but the cold food only for breakfast really irks me There is an employee stocking the fridge with milk, bringing out bananas and oranges Throw a big bag of premade scrambled eggs into a warmer Your guests will appreciate it I know where we wont be staying next year for Midwest Horse Fair

Union South is a perfect blend of upscale hotel and college union There’s a bowling alley, a few different restaurant and coffee options and endless numbers of kids studying – for atmosphere and a quiet hotel well located on the University of Wisconsin campus The service of the many students working at the hotel was over the top great

We requested a roll away bed and they brought it quickly and refused our gratuity – all with a smile I will stay here again

Madeleine Sutherland

I’m here for a grad student recruiting weekend I love it The rooms are super comfortable and intuitive

I appreciate the tasteful colors in this place rather than just white I like that the showers have soap dispensaries because it must save so much plastic The staff are very nice about helping us find the different rooms we have to be in The atmosphere is professional and welcoming at the same time Definitely giving me a good impression of UW-Madison

Serenity Kunick

My stay at Wisconsin Union Hotel was excellent The staff was extremely professional, friendly, and very helpful, especially when I misplaced my room key Room service staff did a great job at getting my room back to being clean and tidy

The only real hiccup during my stay was that the water main in a building next door broke, causing the hotel to lose water for a majority of the day, but they had the problem fixed by the same evening Overall, it was wonderful!

The parking lot was full and the breakfast area was bustling So the good reviews are for real People love to stay here and love the cook to order breakfast! Bed was comfortable which is a priority for us! The soaking tub was nice, larger and deeper than normal bathtubs

Room was clean, smelled fresh Service desk staff were friendly on checkin Everything in our stay was great No complaints

Sutter Properties

Decided to change the review since except for the front desk manager, Jennifer Carter, rest of the FD and breakfast staff were very nice Rooms are clean and spacious Ready to make breakfast was great

I would have given 4 stars if the FD manager accommodated any my requests First I called to check-in early and she flat out refused even though 50% of the hotel was empty Then I had to call repeatedly to have room service, but she would not accommodate Other FD staff were nice though and courteous

Zach Blenkinsopp

Wonderful hotel breakfast!I had a great stay and a special shout-out to Antonio and Steve! Antonio was super friendly and a great cook He made it seem like I was coming into a cool little breakfast spot Steve checked me in and was super helpful during my stay

Clean, friendly, accomodating Recommend We stayed here for 30 days while our home was being remediated for mold

Very stressful time in our lives Staybridge and staff helped make things easier Excellent, large FREE laundry room Nice workout room and outside seating Good breakfast buffet Decent suites with kitchenette Groceries and restaurants next door Highway noise not an issue, but adjacent room noise was a problem at times Pet friendly Did not enforce Covid mask mandate (though staff all wore masks)

Ryan Stamm

I travel for work and spend 35 weeks a year on the road This has to be one of the worst hotels and services I have ever experienced The internet was so slow I wasn’t able to work and had to go to a nearby coffee shop

They also charged me $150+ in damages to a room that was rented to me with broken furniture Tried to explain the situation to the argumentative Bobby from management who was not able to help with the situation I will no longer be staying at all IHG Hotels as the company and the General Manager do not seem to not care about their customers but only about dollars and cents There are a lot of other Hotels to pick from that deliver a better experience

zachary niemi

Possibly the worst internet at any hotel i have ever stayed at and it doesn’t matter what floor you are on the whopping 12mbps it produces makes this place Impossible to do any type of work on a laptop Rooms are nice except when the power goes out for 4 hours when it’s 92 degrees out and the AC doesn’t work If you need to use the internet at a hotel look elsewhere

Definitely will not stay again for that reason

Comfortable, clean and quiet with awesome staff! After check in we had lovely complimentary evening snack with really quite nice wine and beer options followed by dinner at an excellent restaurant just up the street Looking forward to what looks to be a great breakfast with oatmeal and waffles Had a nice deep bath and about to drift off to sleep in our very comfy bed

Highly recommend!

Derek Blume

Quite disappointed with this place It is right offthe corner of two very busy roads, one an expressway However, the rooms have no sound proofing

It seems the front desk was unwilling to enforce the no-smoking policy Our floor smelled of marijuana both evenings of our stay Pets seem to be allowed, which would be fine except they allowed big dogs and people kept their animals in their room all alone for they day We had constant noise from a large dog in the room above ours all night long The televisions in the room were very out of date The underground parking garage was nice except for the cloud of cigarette smoke in there The pool and workout areas were nice The breakfast was only fair

I would advise seeking an alternative My parents are in their 70’s and my Dad is a double-lung transplant recipient Upon taking a serious turn in his health, he was flown to WI in a medivac plane from KY

My Mom got him situation in ICU and finally made it back to the hotel after 2am She left in the morning with the shuttle and was taken to the hospital…after returning at about 5pm, she went into the restroom and found someone had been in her room and vomited in the toilet They did not clean up their mess She needed to go to the restroom, so quickly cleaned it and made her way up the long hallway to report the incident They did bring a device down and found someone entered her room at 3:05pm The question was asked if could have been my Mom, my Dad or family…again, she was alone and took their shuttle to hospital She realized a small birthstone ring was missing from her nightstand (she had all of her other jewelry) and was upset Me being helpless in the situation I asked that she file a complaint with management A person working the desk explained he,”was in a bad mood and wouldn’t see guest” The direction given was to call the police My Mom was in no position to be going through that, and placing any loss to her on her was absurd, especially considering everything she had been through She left the next morning and was shuttled to a new hotel I have sought answers to policy and ask if the person was an employee and do they still work there and have gotten no where Simply getting her ring back would have dissolved the situation The recap from corporate is my Mom was switched rooms…she wasn’t She was offered but declined, as she isn’t in great shape herself to be moving rooms And that she left in a good mood, trust me when I tell you, that certainly wasn’t the case If you are a woman traveling alone, I would never recommend this hotel Also, no one at any level appears to care about your concerns I asked to speak to a Regional Manager to review policy on theft and corporate office bounced my concern right back to the property, promising a call back within 48 hours After 4 days, I responded to the email that I hadn’t been able to speak to someone Today’s email had the recap of everything they did to rectify (which was basically nothing), ending their insight to the matter I am not one to write a bad review, but clearly someone at that property isn’t opposed to inviting themselves into guest rooms…

Good location right next to Alliant Energy Center Room was clean and nice Comfortable beds!! Very functional kitchen with full fridge, two burner hot plate, small dishwasher

The hot breakfast was exceptional Fresh scrambled eggs, homemade hash browned potatoes and two types of sausage Also waffle maker, toast and cereal and good hot coffee Microwave available if needed I would come back just for the hot breakfast!

Steven Hamilton

We were in town for 3 nights for a convention at the Alliant Center The hallway that connects the hotel to the center was very handy Breakfast was scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, muffins, cereal & etc

They had a pool & exercise room but I didn’t have time to check those outOur room was clean & in good repair Staff was helpful

Isaac Liu

This is a fair hotel for the price- I stayed here to make sure I was within a reimbursement limit The rooms are extremely drab and old but the appliances and amenities are functional- though the shower annoyingly shot a straight jet of water There were no glass, only plastic cups

I hope that they eventually remodel The service for breakfast and the front desk were very good, but my room didn’t seem to be cleaned (towels and bed not changed) for the two nights/three days I was there

My dog was being treated for cancer at UW – Madison from April until last week when she lost her battle We had six stays at this hotel during that time, all of which were consistently wonderfulThe rooms are large and clean, beds are comfortable, and the kitchen has a full sized fridge, which came in handy during some of our longer stays

Sometimes I had to stay here by myself, and it says a lot about both the hotel and the area that I felt safe to do so as a female traveling alone with a dog with mobility issues Breakfast was the typical continental fare, but that is all I neededThe staff here exceeds expectations, and truly could not have been nicer to me Jim is a standout in particular, as he always does the extra mile A couple of my stays were of an indefinite length of time at booking, and the staff was so easy and flexible at working with me to extend those stays when neededMy dog did not always stay with me on these trips (as sometimes she was in hospital), but when she did, there was plenty of convenient, well manicured access to grass outside the hotel, as well as pet waste stations around the perimeter of the hotel For non pet people, there was no dog smell or fur anywhere A lot of pet friendly hotels are a bit dingy – not this oneThis hotel is truly the five star hotel of three star hotels I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality, cleanliness, and dependability through a really difficult time

J Lynn

Service was kind and professional Our king suite was clean and comfortable The breakfast was really so awful though

Everything was so artificial and powdered tasting Absolutely inedible I couldn’t even make a toasted bagel taste good But for a clean and affordable stay It was a great value Just don’t rely on your complimentary breakfast

Jinoj Mathew

One of the best places to stay Service is phenomenal Upon check in received two bottles of water for being an honors member

Received texts daily asking how the experience was Room had a full kitchen and utensils Very clean and well maintained rooms Beds and pillow were very comfortable as well Breakfast is included and good selections are available daily Plenty of free parking also available Good location Highly recommend

Lindsay Williams

We were really looking forward to our stay at the Edgewater Hotel, but sadly, we were very disappointed by our stay Even though our multiple visits to their restaurants and bars have always been disappointing (there’s just not many on-the-water options in Madison, which is why we always return to their gorgeous location) due to poor/slow service and extremely high prices for sub-par food and service, we had high hopes for the hotel stay While the hotel is gorgeous, it’s the lack of customer service and attention to detail that disappointed us

We had our Do Not Disturb sign on our door as we were in desperate need of sleeping in At 8AM on a Sunday, a cleaning staff person knocked and walked into our room – even though we had Do Not Disturb sign on the door The front desk was unsympathetic about it Our room service breakfast was terrible for a “luxury” hotel The coffee was so weak it was undrinkable The bagel and packaged cream cheese were fine, but the fruit salad was defrosted frozen fruit The creamer was individual shelf-stable creamers, not real cream in a creamer service Just so disappointing for a $30 breakfast, that should have been free since we were woken up unnecessarily The rooms were nicely appointed, but the bathroom is poorly lit making it difficult to get ready/do make-up, etc There isn’t anywhere to hang towels, either This might seem very nit-picky, but for a $300/night room in Madison, Wisconsin, one would hope to have a more luxurious experience

Collette McDonald

We had a girls spa day The location is gorgeous Some of the treatment rooms overlook the water

Beautifully appointed The only rub for this spa is the lack of silence from the staff when near the relaxation area and treatment rooms Our first impression was the manager taking a cell call as we were getting a tour and the use of outside voices vs spa level communication It would also be a nice feature if spa guest could reserve a table at the boathouse vs having to go to the restaurant to ensure names are on the list Little things that add up

Mary Ashworth

Madison was a new experience for us What a nice city It feels so much safer than Chicago! We actually walked around at night without feeling the need to look over our shoulders

We were at the Edgewater for a business meeting It is a great hotel with a beautiful view The rooms are large, clean and comfortableWe had a nice cocktail reception on the varanda with dinner to follow The bartender was so sweet and the waitstaff was very accommodatingI will say that the lighting in the lovely bathroom is not bright enough to apply makeup Most hotel bathroom are that way these daysKeep up the great work Edgewater!

This was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast, and our stay was wonderful! Heather and Tom were both kind and very responsive to messages or questions we had They recently started offering their breakfast again, and it was absolutely delicious Heather even made us an easy grab and go meal for our last morning, since we had to leave pretty early

The property is beautiful, and it was great to walk around to see the animals We also bought an add on wine and cheese tray That was one of our favorite parts of the trip! The room was very comfortable, and we definitely look forward to staying here again! We cannot say enough good things about our experience!

Melissa Nielsen

If there are more accommodating and gracious hosts in the B&B world, I don’t know where you would find them Heather and Tom went out of their way to ensure a perfect weekend for us The room we stayed in (Heywood Hardy) was beautiful, immaculate, and incredibly comfortable

And the breakfastsunbelievable! Homemade deliciousness, most of which was sourced from their very own farm Looking out over the pastural property made for peaceful perfection We even got to spend some time petting the friendly sheep I wouldn’t even think about choosing any other place to stay if/when we return to the Madison area! Thank you for making our time there so special!

Renee Schleiter

The Speckled Hen is the best place to stay when visiting Madison It is convenient to everything, clean, reasonably priced, and beautiful The outdoor surroundings are lovely and relaxing

The innkeeper is phenomenal! If you are an alumni, visiting parent of a Badger, or just visiting the capital for anything, this is a comfortable home away from home!

Right when we checked in there was a “social hour” with food, wine and beer (spotted cow even!) Are you kidding me?! I didn’t check out the outside mezzanine area but I think there is a pool and gazebo out there? The inside pool looked amazing and I wished I would’ve brought my suit Other than the bed being ok and the original room not being cleaned (it was not on the cleaning schedule and they moved us to a new room immediately), this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at and in a great location on the East side

Compliments to management and staff for making our stay excellent and we’ll see you next visit!

Nice property with updated and comfortable rooms Breakfast was good with hot food options and waffles There was only one lady helping with breakfast (understaffed), but she was super friendly, kind, and helpful, working hard to help everybody

Two issues with this property:1-“Airport shuttle” feature is misleading Though the website has a “shuttle” icon and shows 7A-7P airport shuttle hours, it’s only Mon-Fri and must be requested 24 hours in advance So our “airport hotel” stay has cost us an extra $60 to/from airport and would have been better to rent a car2-Breakfast hours only through 900A Seemed like a mad rush at 855A Maybe extend out to 930A or 1000A

We stayed for 3 nights Our room was dirty, hair in tub, toys left under the furniture, blood stains on pillow covers on the couch Common areas were never cleaned

Kitchenette was useful but we had no supplies to clean up after ourselves The AC was loud and the bedroom never cooled off There was one packet of coffee in the roomdecaf Very disappointing We will not be back

Terrible experience Did not lift a finger when informed that my room wasn’t cleaned properly before I arrived (dirty towels left hanging in the room, dusty/crumby table, some white stains on chair) Rooms were available, but reserved by platinum members (who weren’t arriving that night) and they refused to clean the room or switch my reservation

Staff was clueless and management was either absent or didn’t care Room was finally cleaned 48 hours after I complained a second time At check out they tried to make me pay for the room saying that I was not part of my organizations reservation and refused any reduction in price Couldn’t recommend a worse hotel

I honestly wish I could rate this 0 stars, but unfortunately I can’t We had a hotel room reserved weeks before we came and when we arrived, we were told that our room’s air conditioner broke this morning, keep in mind that we arrived at 9 pm When we walked in our room, the carpet damp and squishy and they had no intention of calling us early

They wouldn’t a reduced rate There were no available rooms left and we were forced to try to find a different hotel Overall, a horrible experience

The room was immaculate! I was surprised at how large the room was with the thick privacy curtain between the bed and the couch pull-out – complete with a mini kitchen with a fridge, sink, dishwasher, and microwave For the business traveler, there was a multi-layered desk to use, and the TV was largeThere is a restaurant within walking distance and other shopping if you need to pick up something quick

The breakfast was amazing and I was happy to see fresh oatmeal, the small omlettes, a good selection of yogurt, and other items Elisa was so very helpful at breakfast, friendly, and very interested whether we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed I would DEFINITELY stay here again without hesitation

I don’t like the city so that’s why I gave it a 4 star on location, but that’s not against the hotel really I didn’t stay here, I visited my grandpa and I’ve got to say it was stunning The lobby was very clean and the lady that work at the registers/computers was really nice and had a nice welcoming feeling when she greeted me

I don’t know her name but this place is awesome and I love that it was by a starbucks!

My mom and I stayed here while I was transitioning to the area for work and waiting for my rental I had my cat and he really enjoyed being on top of the cabinets in the rooms! 😆 The rooms were clean, with everything needed for a long-term stay and options to get an induction burner, etc if desired Breakfast options were reasonable and made waking up early a bit easier

I never had an issue finding a parking spotThe shared spaces were constantly cared for and lots of places to sit, charge your devices, and work A nice little kiosk was set up with a printer/scanner which I made use of a few times as I only had a laptop with me The Wi-Fi was more than sufficient for all my needs I didn’t avail myself of the pool or gym as the Cross-Fit games were going on at the same time and were in use often, but I saw them being sanitized frequently In addition, the laundry facilities were very convenientAll the folks at the front desk and the folks providing housekeeping services were friendly, approachable, and willing to assist in any way possible The location right off the Beltline makes it quick to get anywhere you need to go, with the caveat of rush hour traffic being factored in If you’re looking for a great pet-friendly place for a long-term stay, you won’t be disappointed with Home2 I will definitely be recommending to visitors

I did not have a good experience with this hotel I booked a room that included breakfast, but they did not honor it (and breakfast is $15 per person) The front desk was not helpful with it either and essentially told us too bad

I would not have booked this hotel if I had known this One of the elevators smelled heavily of vomit, so we tried to use the stairs as much as possible (for our 4th floor room) Also on the morning we were checking out, housekeeping entered our room at 8am after knocking quietly twice I understand wanting to get rooms cleaned quickly, but it’s 8! People are either sleeping or getting readyit’s inappropriate to enter rooms that early
