Your basic Best Western when it comes to amenities and rooms; however, the customer service was amazing It appeared the lobby had been recently renovated, and it looked great!John got us checked in no time and was extremely helpful and personable The continental breakfast was awesome, lots of options for everyone

Overall a great stay We’d definitely stay here again

Beth Coleman

The pictures didn’t lie The front lobby and breakfast was just as noted The room was exactly as pictured

The lady that checked us in,’Vanassa’, was awesome, she even made sure that we had access to the pool of a nearby motel, since the outdoor pools were closed due to seasonal weather, and weren’t opened yet Vanassa was all smiles and gave us the feeling of home Thank you for making our stay in Hickory a great experience

The hotel it’s self was very beautiful and the service was great with certain workers But I’m going to leave a 2 star review due to a few factors: (1) the washer and dryers are out of date and do not work DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO WASH OR DRY

(2) the room temperature takes forever to either heat up or cool down (3) The bathroom inside the room I stayed in #608 on the sinks bottom part appears to be decaying from being there so long and no intentions on replacing it or they would be on that immediately (4) the pool and hot tub is a nice add on but they were both green and not inviting but the water was warm

The hospitality alone is 5 stars! Miss Carol is a delight The management, the cleaning, the restaurant everyone was great We were there for a baseball tournament and they were more than accommodating

Everything was clean Management was hands on We stayed at a Garden Inn Hilton in Knoxville TN a couple weeks ago and they were a 5 as Hickory was a 10 Hickory provided free coffee in lobby Free laundry facility This in only hotel I have been to ever that offered free laundry facility But the polite, courtesy we were shown was bar none

Mackenzie King

Only stay here If you’re a bed bug hoping to make friends!I only stay at nicer hotels because my wife makes me

That being said, I’ve stayed at plenty of dingy motels cleaner than this Bed bugs, pee stains (lord knows what else), food, dirt everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE After finding several bed bugs in our bed, we requested a new room, which ended up just as disgustingI think I’ll finally be able to talk my wife into staying at dingy highway-side motels again because it’s probably a step up from this place

We were actually traveling very late at night with children We didn’t have a reservation but I was to sleepy to keep driving We got the last available room

The desk clerk was so kind Awesome service, check in was fast and easy Our room was excellent, very clean We enjoyed a nice breakfast in the morning with waffles I would definitely recommend this location

Ashton Cash

I compared all over Hickory, price per night plus pet fees for our two dogs, and this place was definitely the best value Clean, tidy, friendly staff, and pet friendlyFar superior to another hotel in Hickory I’ve used, which had exactly the same rate with our two pets included, but was absolutely repulsive place across all categories

Jj B

This place has awful service and cockroaches I specifically asked for a 1st floor room when I made the reservation because I had just been in an accident and could barely walk Upon check in the lady ignored my request even though clearly seeing I could barely walk but me in the room farthest away from parking lot or outdoors and top floor

They room was infested w roaches When I told them she acted like mad like I should ignore it and didn’t not offer an apology or refund I asked to speak w manager and was told I could not that he was on vacation unavailable It was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had A week later when my deposit wasn’t refunded I called and they kept my deposit because I had a candle which housekeeper can verify in my room and consider that against smoking rules But I lit it to try keep bugs away Wish I would be contacted by corporate Or at least receive a refund

Clean, comfortable, and great customer service My daughter booked a room for me and the person who took the reservation told me she remembered the booking She chose a room that was quiet and convenient

Nice Hotel-Convenient Location!Updated modern hotel right next to the Hickory Convention Center The hotel has clean rooms, comfy beds and nice amenities All of the staff are friendly and accommodating

There are several restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel The Carrabba’s is very good and is literally a few hundred feet from the hotel I enjoyed my stay and slept very well the entire time!

Adria Clay

Stayed here for a week on businessIt’s right off the highway with several restaurants nearby – you are paying for the areaThe front desk staff were nice, but not welcoming

As a Marriott member they did make an effort to ask if I would like points vs a market item – not many hotels make an attempt to ask this anymoreThe rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable A smart TV is in the room which offers Netflix, HBO, Showtime, and Amazon Prime which is a nice bonus!!The gym offers treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights – that’s pretty much itI took a star off because they do not offer complimentary breakfast I did not know this before arriving and paid for breakfast daily A café is located on the first floor where you can order meals/snacks/breakfast, however I feel it’s overpriced I paid $910 for this French toast – it was delicious, but costly! Often when I approached this café, it was left unattended and I would have to wait for an employee to arrive and take my orderIf I’m in the area again, I’d rebook

My sister in law has an RV and she has been asking us to come out and we finally did We have enjoyed our so self so much Every single person we encountered were so pleasant, waived and most importantly asked us did we catch anything

My son catch his first fish 🎣 Our kids played at the playground and we had people drive us around on their golf carts We are considering getting our own RV and renting a space here We will be back very soon

Mike G

Decent campground with many kid friendly activities like a pool, mini golf, plsysets and a game room Some adult activity stuff available too like horseshoes, basketball courts, a mini lake to fish in with a nature trail You will have to pass a place where the locals dump big trash on this trail though

Bathrooms and showers, though clean were below average Most campers don’t need this amenity thoughCampground is clearly geared towards the permanent RV though, with only a few rentable places to go toCampground is a gated key card access type Easy pull through sites availableWe enjoyed our stay

Lake Life

This campground needs alot of help, clean up and rules in place We have been to a lot of campgrounds over the years, but this had to be the worse other than the very nice staff We saw things that went on that should not be allowed anywhere

Open beer cans and bottles everywhere (yes we drink beer, but in cups) kids under age driving golf carts like race cars, drunking while driving golf carts, little kids unsupervised running in front of campers, trucks etc The pool area was like a beer bash party with glass bottles and drunk people right outside the pool The other problem we saw is the permanent sites are mostly trashy and an eye sore to the park The only good thing was the staff was very nice and the park is large, but most of the rv sites are tight to pull in and out of

Upon check in time our room was not ready, front desk employee not that friendly Came back a hour late room was ready and clean Bed slept good, bathroom was large

Room was very comfortable Next day the breakfast selection offered was huge and very good The checkout desk employee Jessica was awsome and very friendly and helpful Pool was nice Will stay there again maybe in the future

Glad to finally see another Choice hotel in this area since the only 2 other options were not great This clearly used to be another branded hotel and is very appealing once inside The location is good but not great, it’s off to itself but also in a not so great area but then again it’s Hickory so you can’t expect much

Once inside the hotel your experience is great with a beautiful lobby and TV seating area The rooms are very nice with pillow top mattress and huge flat screen TV Def a great value for a really nice hotel part of Choice

John Lo

The rooms was modernized and it did have an LCD flat screen TV We stayed 2 nights but the staffing never stopped by to clean our room, give us clean towels, nor take out the garbage It’s definitely not a three star hotel more like a very nicely dressed up two star hotel with nice paint and newer carpeting and flooring

The complementary breakfast is microwaved sausages, eggs, and bacon leaving much to be desired

Went here for a wedding over the weekend and needless to say it was horrible! First it was COMPLETELY unorganized!!! None of the staff told anyone what was going on we were just all huddled in this little room and then the wedding ceremony was bizarre and we had to stand the whole time THEN it came time to eat and they didn’t have enough seating for everyone and when we told them the lady she was very rude and was like “only 35 people!! There’s only enough for 35 people that’s it” and when we asked if we could use the extra chairs in the room we were in, we were told no Not to mention they left their loud restaurant music playing during the wedding ceremony where there were no microphones or anything

We didn’t stay for the food because we had no where to sit The rude staff was enough to make me leave I wouldn’t recommend to anyone

Kirsten Mabry

While the food and service were excellent, the dinning experience was touted as formal dinning and formal attired after 5 Upon arrival the owner was in a flannel and dickiesIf you have the Groupon to try the place out do not agree to wine with your meal because it is an extra service and is refilled freely at half glass, and you’re not made aware until the end of the night that each refill is not included in your night

If you do want wine with your meal you should skip the Groupon and just pay the amount per plate it will come out the same When you redeem your code and “settle your wine bill”Had this not been the experience, because the food and staff were so good I WOULD have returned for the full price meal But this sneaky backed handed way of doing buisness is rude and unforgivable, no food will ever be that good

Austin Buie

I’ll have to say food was good, experience was not and the surprise bill at the end is a joke If you are going to charge extra for thing you should inform that person before just doing it Groupon had a dinner for 2 deal which saves you quite a bit of money thankfully but once you get there the manager makes sure you know this is not a restaurant and there is no options then offers you wine or water

If you say wine they will not tell you what kind of wine so they serve it in a decanter which isn’t the problem the problem was after every sip they keep refilling your glass then at the end of you meal they slap you with a bill (in my case 5 people sipping on wine not partying were told we had 34 refills) I was shocked because not once did anyone’s glass get below halfway But after doing the math it’s odd that the savings from the coupon and the total of the bill at the end equaled one another (hmmm nice that was slick ) is what I was thinking But hey food was good if you would like to try your luck go ahead for me this is just my opinion and experience And I personally or anyone in my group will ever be going back

My one night stay was quiet and comfortable The quality body wash, shampoo and conditioner pumps installed in the shower were helpful and I nice touch The shower itself was hot with great water pressure

I had seen some negative comments about the breakfast, but I thought it was the best free breakfast I have seen at a hotel Eggs, biscuits with gravy, two types of omelette, two types of sausage, waffles as well as fruit and healthy options available Well done! The room was clean and quiet My only complaint is the towels are a little rougher than I’m used to I will be through here about 4 times a year and this is where I will stay

lailia Xiong

We are very appreciative of the front desk receptionist Ross We traveled into town around 3am with our kids and he was able to get us booked in with no issues and quickly so we could get to our rest Each time we came in late at night from our family, he always greeted us with a smile and asked if we needed anything

The rooms were really clean and well kept The only issues were that our tub didnt drain that well during showers but its not a big deal We are grateful for the staff for making our stay awesome We travel to NC from Oklahoma quite often so we definitely will be booking our stay here when ever we visit from now on

Timothy Pitts

Room was comfortable and well decorated and organized, everything was clean and well furnished, and plenty of space inside room Staff was courteous and polite with everyone I spoke too Price was more than I would have preferred, but still good quality for the price

Breakfast was good, though the hotel kept running out of food very quickly, especially pancake mix Also exercise room was not available for some reason and the conditioner bottle in the shower was almost empty Overall, would recommend

I was going to award 3 stars, but the 5 star breakfast bumped up the rating Best bacon I’ve ever eaten! Overall, room was clean and relatively quiet with a comfortable bed/pillows and decent quality linens Unusually narrow shower – just over 2 ft wide – might be challenging for larger person

Very little outside or room-to-room noise, but the entry doors easily transmit the slightest hallway noise Friendly staff, ample parking, overall a good experience

Angela Parodi

Worse experience ever! When we called to book we were given 1 price for a 5 day stay and charge something else on the bill at checkout They said they only had a handicap room available so we took it It smelled musty when we arrived

After the 3day we went to desk and asked for them to clean the room and change sheets and get clean towels we were told they don’t do turn down service unless you stay 5days and because we were checking out on the fifth day we weren’t entitled to it We then asked if we could at least get clean towel brought to the room while we were out and when we returned they were there When we checked out and noticed the bill the charges were different for each day even tho we were told we would get a discount cause we are members Then the following weekend I checked our acct only to see an additional charge of $269 dollars onto of the $608 they already charged at check out When I called to see why I was told I had to speak to a manager and they weren’t in till Monday but it was a smoking fee I called that Monday but manger was out sick I called again that Thursday and talked to the rudest manager I have ever uncounted I explained there was no smoking and if there was why wouldn’t their maid say that even the towels were delivered 2days prior to and why wouldn’t their smoking light come on for our room And what proof did they do call have? Her explanation was it smelled like cigarettes that was her proof I proceeded to try and speak to her calmly and then she said to bad if I don’t like it and hung up on me Totally unacceptable behavior I will never stay there again! If you don’t want to get over charged for things you don’t do and be treated rudely then I suggest not staying there

Room rate was reasonable, but then again I guess you get what you pay for We had a king suite with 1 person sofa bed Which was great because we were staying with our grandson

The room was spacious, but in desperate need of updating Fairly clean (except for sofa bed which looked as if it hadn’t been opened in years) but room looked dark and dingy Front entrance and front desk are neat and clean, however the exterior of remainder of hotel is pretty dank and dirty and frankly looks a little sketchy I should have looked a little closer to find out for sure, however just assumed if they advertise poolside room rate that the pool was open Unfortunately, it was closed (no water and no signs at hotel stating it was closed) and I don’t see anywhere on their website where they say it was closed Free breakfast was a pretty sparse All the hot bins were empty and according to sign on top that were taped shut and sign that states “do not to open hot bin lids” they are not used There was 1 (yes 1) waffle machine to make your own waffle cereal, apples, and small packaged honey buns, coffee and juice; that’s it Wouldn’t recommend unless you are looking for a cheap room

Teresa McCoy

Mandy, I think was her name on the evening of April 23, was so nice and helpful She was great! Management give her kudos and lunch😁 Nice room, very clean Stayed in smoking room and we couldn’t tell the room had been smoked in

We needed first floor because my husband was injured on the Appalachian Trail and we were heading home Again, Mandy was excellent she deserves some serious props!

Chris Conangla

My wife and I were on a furniture hunting trip to the Hickory Furniture Mart, and this Property seemed nice and quite close to the Mart Pictures looked nice, and it seemed a good choiceIt was a lousy choice

To begin with, there is no mention anywhere on their website that there is NO ELEVATOR, so guests must muscle their luggage up metal stairs to the second floor If handicapped, only ground level rooms will doUnlike most hotels, access from the outside requires a key card to unlock an outer door Not here These stairwell access doors not only don’t have locks, they are left propped open, allowing anyone to come in off the street whether they are guests or notIn fact, we found two people who clearly weren’t guests squatting by an ice machine at the foot of the stairs charging a cellphoneWhen we got up to the second floor landing, (again, NO elevator) we were shocked to find the clearly marked fire doors on both the left and right had been propped open Someone had jammed a ball point pen into a hole in the floor to keep the doors open Housekeeping, to make it easier to move their carts down the hall?We left for a while, but when we came back, they were still propped open, so I closed them We went out to dinner, and when we came back, they are propped open againThe room was adequate enough for the price, but the experience with the lack of security, the disregard for fire codes, and the really rundown nature of the place means we will NEVER use this hotel again, everWe have stayed in hotels all across America and Europe Some are better than others, but you at least can reasonably expect basic security and safetyNot here
