Front desk reps remain behind a door in a back office, inattentive and passive customer service, takes minutes to recall Hairs found in bed, shower, sink and ‘fresh towels’ Dust clings to light fixtures in the lobby and hallways

Complimentary breakfast, recommend the cereal Overpriced, under staffed, overall leaves everything to be desired Recommend elsewhere

Modern design and spacious suites AC/Heating is central with minimum noise and doesn’t disturb your sleepThey can add more types of breads for breakfast, or some muffins to make it even more fancy!Another little thing, as a comment for the hotel to see if then can find a solution, was that the items for the breakfast were located all over different spots in the restaurant; you had to look around to pick your breakfast items from almost 6 corners or sides of that room!

My family stayed here for one night only as a rest stop for our drive Although we didn’t explore all the amenities this hotel offered like the pool, we did enjoy our stay Pros: All of the staff were friendly during our stay, the rooms were smaller than expected but not too small, the cleanliness of the room/facility was not questioned, the parking fee was waived (maybe because we arrived late in the night), and I can’t really complain about the free breakfast

Cons: The facility is older and in need of some major renovation (ie Elevators looked old and creaked) and the dining area for breakfast was very busy and made the stay less enjoyable Side note, I booked this room with hotel loyalty points so this room was completely free Had I not done so, I’m not 100% certain I would rate this hotel as highly Although the pros outweighed the cons, the state of the facility is not something I think of when thinking of the Hyatt brand

The new reception staff issued our room again to another group of guests and our card was charged $1000 for that mistake On the day we were checking out, we found out our front window shield was cracked and the manager said she could not help and said it could be cracked before we parked there… we had videos and photos showing the window was in good shape when we first rented the car Then she said there was no surveillance camera for the parking lot

I seriously doubt what’s the point of us paying the parking fee then If you are on business trip to any companies nearby, consider parking inside the companies – it would be a lot saferStay away from this hotel!

Very nice suite The pull out bed is uncomfortable to sleep on Very spacious room and I like the kitchen area with a full size refrigerator

I did not have to really use any services so I can’t rate that any higherThe complimentary morning breakfast has a good selection that is very filling

D V

We had a wonderful stay The front desk staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a good stay and even upgraded us to an upgraded suite, which worked out perfectly while traveling with a toddler The breakfast was very good considering it was included with the stay and the staff made sure there were additional vegetarian options available by making us morning star sausages upon request

We will definitely stay here again when we travel to San Diego and thank you so much for the wonderful experince!

One of the best Hostels in San Diego Prime location, next to beautiful Little Italy Beautiful looking house with lots of character that is kept clean and tidy by the staff

ITH always has an amazing community vibe and the staff at this hostel in particular are very friendly and service oriented I had a lot of fun going to the bonfires and events they hosted I would highly recommend staying at this hostel

I really like this hostel, the young’s staff are really good and super friendly The kitchen are interely equip, breakfast are good too, the bathroom are decent just missed some soap for travel you know The bunk bed are correct, but need to repair the metallic ladder are not fixed

One note for the end, the price are cheap pour San Diego I really recommend this place if you enjoyed talk with strangers 😁

Francisco Valenzuela

The room was stinky, the beds were not comfortable People were doing drugs in the facilities, there were no lockers available, no towels available, the restrooms were also dirty Thank you for trying to improve but I already went back to San Diego and I booked another place where it was sparkling clean, they had a mich better service, they had lockers available, the beds were more comfortable and the price was lower

Honestly I don’t think i will come back to you guys, there were broken lockers and I had to sleep with my suitcases in my bed, so far it’s been one of the worst experiences I’ve had around the world Thank you but no thank you

My stay at this resort hotel was great the guest and valet are very pleasant they always “welcome you back “ the rooms are clean , has a full kitchen with a fridge and freezer , free Wi-Fi , and it is free to do laundry which is a plus There is a gym with basic equipment, I wish there was better air ventilation, and sanitizing wipes available in the gym to wipe off equipment after use The ceilings are low so don’t try to do tricks with the jump rope

There is also a sauna, and women’s shower in the gym area as well

The hotel itself is LOVELY! Our studio (with 2 kids) was only a little tight but it had everything we needed The space is actually good for 2 adults and 2 under-10s; see the photo for the pull out couch Immaculate cleaning and the mini-kitchen was fantastic

Strong wi-fi I was NOT pleased with the BR set up (Not enough strategically-placed hooks; does Wyndham not take showers??) No W/D in units but excellent basement service was complimentary Not far at all from the train or bus line A PRONTO card makes everything easier! Also, the Circuit app is very, very helpfulHoweverThe location is lovely but economic downturn is reflected on every street We’ve no qualm with this butbe discreet You don’t need to announce your expendable income, which the WRISTBANDS shout out hard Explore MTS etc before your plane lands! We had a room that was co-joined to another There is no bufferthe other family was LOUD, even at 1am There needs to be more insulation to those doors Additionally, the push for the sales presentation was PUSHY We never said nojust let us get in the room to settle the kids and enjoy a bottle of Pinot Nope, nope, the experience was obnoxious

We stay at Marriott hotels all across the country and are currently Titanium level members We’ve come to expect a certain level of service, but unfortunately, this Residence Inn did not deliverThe Good: Breakfast was nice, the room was spacious and clean, and staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be, given the circumstances

The Bad: Our son had an accident on the first night, and rather than giving us new bedding, the maintenance workers took the entire sofa bed mattress When we inquired later that day as to why it hadn’t been returned, we were told maintenance had left for the day This happened for two days straight We had no sofa bed mattress, and couldn’t even use the couch After we finally got the mattress returned, the heater stopped working and couldn’t be repaired until the next day And finally, despite asking several times for assistance, our hot water never worked properly It was warm, but never hot enough to shower inAt the conclusion of our stay I asked for a couple of nights to be taken off our bill due to all of the issues we had I was told my complaint would be escalated to management All I ended up getting was some courtesy points Normally I am happy to accept that for smaller issues, but we did not get the room we paid for Being down a bed for two nights, and without heat for a third, really was frustrating Have never had this bad of an experience with Marriott and will likely not be returning to this location again

Roland Allen

This is a good hotel I chose this hotel for an overnight stay prior to heading to the desert for a day of hiking I wanted a place with a kitchen so that I could make breakfast before the day’s adventure

However, when I got to my room, although seemingly “clean”, the kitchen was set up with a previously used sponge at the sink Also there was not soap for washing dishes in the sink, or for using the dishwasher Clearly, these are cost-cutting measures that are simply wrongThese decisions by management made the kitchen unusable because it was contaminated That is the image I have of this propertyAnother problem is the very tight parking lot Some guests parked on the street outside the hotel

Christopher Acosta

Terrible experience Booked through Marriott directly Arrived around 8 and was told that there was an error and that they had no room for us

On top of that since I booked with points they canceled my reservation and I didn’t have any points to book another room Night manager ash simply told me that another hotel down the street has rooms go there No help with calling the hotel, nothing Avoid this place like the plague

Nomad Skateboarding

One of the most welcoming hostels I’ve been in 🙂Bathrooms and kitchens are easily accessible Good amount of space for guests

Inside separate smoking room Great prices/value Free breakfast (I didn’t see what either time I started, but others seemed happy!) Stores, transportation, and University district right outsideThe staff were all very good Kayla and Aubrey were exceptional! (Full transparency, these were the only two I really spoke with, so the rest of the staff are most likely cool as well 😎)I would recommend this to anyone looking for a short or long-term stay in San Diego

Demetrius Rowe

From the time I checked in the staff was great Audrey along with the other nice young lady Kayla their customer service was very awesome! No attitudes and they always had a smile and was extremely helpful the days I encountered these lovely people The kitchen was spacious and the rooms were clean If there were or if any issues they looked into it right away and they did their job with greatness

Though things has happened to me I can say my experience was great and I appreciate them for allowing a great place like this to be around which allow people to come together and socialize

Elijah Mccord

I give this place 2 stars because I met some great people there and the manager cares about the place That said, housekeeping is pretty much non-existent The rooms are tiny and never get deep cleaned beyond the beds being turned over

Nor do the bathrooms, which are often out of toilet paper and soap The toilets get clogged constantly at which point the stalls are taped shut and left with a terrible smell that festers because of poor ventilation The fridges in the common areas are never cleaned, and the pantry area has a terrible mold problem that completely ruined multiple of my food items in which they were stored The overall issue is cleanliness I don’t wish to throw the staff under the bus because they are largely great people, but the truth is there’s a serious lack of maintenance that left me feeling pretty undervalued as a paying customer My opinions seemed to be shared by several of the other guests with whom I spoke about the issues It’s an ok option considering the price, but the infrastructure and work ethic of the staff needs some improvement

Check in staff was great Room was spacious and clean Had everything we needed

We had 7 people in our party, 7, 8, 17 year old along with adult child and their girlfriend, myself and husband They asked how many in our party, and after telling them, they upgraded us to a larger room for free, so we had 2 bedrooms along with 2 living rooms with kitchens Worked out great because we had 2 bathrooms, and with 6 people, that came in handy! The pool was open until 10pm which was perfect We were ablento swim after spending the day at the zoo! The kitchen had everything youd need to cook and eat dishes, etc A dishwasher, full fridge, not one of those mini fridges most hotels have The included breakfast was good maybe not the spread pictured, but still good Parking was my only complaint The hotel dodnt seem full, yet the parking spots wete full We couldnt park by our room Definitely grateful we decided to carpool in our large SUV sobthat we didnt havento worry about multiple spots Definitely an amazing hotel and plan tonstay there again!

The design makes it feel more like a condo complex than a hotel – there are several different buildings Quiet inside the room, which was a pleasant surprise given the noise of traffic outside I could see how this place would be enjoyable for a long stay

Being there just one night, we were disappointed to find 3 hairs in the bathroom upon arrival (sink, top drawer, on inside of shower curtain) Towels were very scratchy, the sort I expect at 2-star motels Overall it was fine but perhaps could be a bit cleaner/nicer for the price?Grab & go breakfast was a gas station style pastry and an orange, with juice and yogurt available too

I’ve stayed all over the world in a variety of Marriott properties and this one stands out to me The staff here really went above and beyond Aaron worked the evening shift each night and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome (Eduardo too!)

Aaron, you’re the man! I’ll recommend to colleagues because you made the visit personal Thanks for everythingFor those wondering about the hotel, it’s a nice property I didn’t see a pool, but they do have a gym that’s 24 hours, which is pretty nice They also have a garage for the cars, but I’d recommend getting a small vehicle because it’s tight around the corners

Fully equipped with a supremely comfortable bed and kitchenette including a cooktop, fridge, dishes and dishwasher This place is clean with an updated aesthetic Location is in easy walking distance from the Gaslamp Quarter of downtown They also have a lovely outdoor space where I managed to meet quite a number of cool, fun people while relaxing outside during the week This is my forever go-to accommodation while in San Diego! Excellent hotel and delicious buffet breakfast It’s such a beautiful property, has great customer service, and is very clean! We stayed for one night after a fun-filled day at Sesame Place with our kids and it’s the best location We reserved the double queen suite w/ full kitchen and it was perfect for our little family of 4

The kids loved the room! We will definitely choose Homewood Suites the next time we visit San Diego

Taryn Clark

Would definitely recommend this hotel for a family vacation The kids loved the complimentary hot breakfast and the pool, and our stay was quite comfortable Beds were ok (the pull out couch was super squeaky and creaky)

The shower could have used some maintenance and better cleaning (tile and grout were kind of gross) and the parking rate is a tough pill to swallow But it’s a great location for downtown, the baseball stadium, sea world, the zoo and great beaches The Hotel Circle area is extremely busy and densely populated; all the shopping and restaurants were very busy But we had everything we needed and the convenience was great for us Staff at the hotel were super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable

John and Adrianna Beshara

Absolutely and highly recommend this facility We travel a lot I have stayed at a variety of different places This by far is my favorite

The customer service was exceptional, the rooms were fantastic, the complementary breakfast is tasty, and overall it is such a good bang for your buck I honestly could not even fathom how people could give a bad rating The place was really that great Big kudos to all the staff there they were really really helpful, professional, and went above and beyond to make the stay amazing

Great hotel to stay with your family I really liked it here The room that we stayed in had a nice work space, a couch to relax and watch TV and a king size bed

The room is really clean Nice bathroom with a stand in shower There is a mini fridge and a microwave in the room The staff were good and courteous and friendly There is parking behind the hotel In case it gets full in the front and the sides Hotel has wheel chair accessible entrance And within walking distance right in front of the hotel there is chili’s, Wendy’s and yanni’s bar and grill restaurants And a shell gas station with car wash tooPS: for people who have Tesla cars you have a charging place within less than 5 min from this hotel

Carol Martin

Booked one bed one pull out couch for three people Came into room to find pull out couch sheet had either feces or food on the sheets Spare sheets in closet were clearly already used and did not include a blanket

Called front desk Housekeeping came up and brought us towels instead of sheets Told them we needed sheets and the pull out to be cleaned Housekeeping came back and just handed us sheets and picked food/feces off the pull out Pull out was still stained by food/feces Did not clean further or put on new sheets Decided we would not sleep on the still dirty pull out and that person had to sleep on the unmade couch Unacceptable when specifically promoted as a pull out couch that we had planned for someone to use as a bed Had to buy Lysol with how poorly cleaned the couch was to feel comfortable using itRequested late checkout which was apparently not communicated to cleaning staff once again Cleaning staff bothered us three times between regular check out and our scheduled late checkout We told them each time we had late checkout and told them when it was Was a two star review, how ever found out our late checkout fee had been waived on account of being bothered after regular checkout and raised to three starsBreakfast was very underwhelming for the room price, however this seems to be an issue with Marriott in general, not this location specifically

Patricia Boyle

Rooms are nice and big Little kitchen area, small living room and big beds There was plenty of food for breakfast and staff stayed on top of making sure everything stayed full

Checking in was quick and easy and all the staff were friendly and helpful Great location not to close to everything but also not to far Vons is less than a mile away, chili’s and Wendy’s are in walking distances And a nice bar is as well Our room was 4th floor facing the freeway and we didn’t hear a thing Property was clean, weight room was clean I would not only recommend this hotel but I would stay again!!

Definitely the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at Everything is so clean and the common areas are great to make new friends The staff is outstanding since everyone is just so helpful and friendly even if they are not on shift

Also the social events are super fun!!The rooms have a good size and the beds provide enough privacy since you have metalwalls behind and next to your head Lockers are provided in the room, which gives extra security Last but not least is the location of the hostel outstanding as well Right in the heart of Gaslamp Quarter and just a 10 min walk from the Seaport Village In conclusion, I can just highly recommend that hostel, doesn’t matter if you are just travelling and want to make new friends or if you are in the city for work

This hostel raised my standards of hostel! I’ve never been to one so greatDefinitely best hostel in San Diego! This hostel is absolutely amazing, the staff are friendly, helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile for all the guests The facilities are cleaned daily, rooms are spacious, air conditioned, large lockers for the bigger backpacks, outlets and lights in the bunk with you

Maria, her partners Erin and John, and their staff are absolute beautiful people With their generosity, they helped my family and I in a big time of need and I’ll never forget that This hostel goes above business and has a real heart and human compassion to it

I appreciated that they provided complimentary ear plugs, though my room was quiet and I didn’t need them They provided a locker for my suitcase and only charged me $4 for a lock, which I feel like they could have taken advantage of the situation and overcharged me, but they didn’t The downsides were that the emergency exits weren’t clear, the power went out for a short while, and at least one of the bathrooms on our floor was closed which meant sometimes having to hunt for another option All in all, those things didn’t bother me much The location in the Gas Lamp district is unbeatable and convenient to the convention center and all the restaurants When I visited on April 20, 2022, masks were recommended but not required Proof of vaccination was required Amazing experience I highly recommend

Very friendly and safe atmosphere Staff were nice and explained things clearly and helpful Very secure entrance and rooms had electronic locks

My bed wasn’t ready when I showed up early but they offered to stow my luggage and allowed me to hang out in the common area The common areas were very cleanThe bed was comfy and linens were clean and my blanket was fluffy Lockers were big and fit my suitcase Locks were available for purchase for $550 the outlet was right next to my bunk which was really convenient Bathroom smelled a little funky but not enough to really bother meIt was a quiet environment perfect for relaxing The city gets a little loud at night but I expected that with all the outdoor dining and activities going on There’s free earplugs if you need them Lots of good dining and not far from the stadium, drugstore, and the bayI was able to walk a few blocks and catch the local bus to the airport for $250 which was anice option compared to taxi etcThis was my first stay at a Hostel and likely not my last because of how this wentThank you to all the staff for a relaxing experience!!

I stayed with these folks twice, between June 2012 and October 2012 It was a difficult visit, as I was attending a funeral for the latter trip My stay was made much easier thanks to the fine hospitality of these folks

Their location is within walking distance of the zoo, a veteran’s museum and an artists’ village If you walk in the other direction to Hillcrest, you have easy access to all manner of restaurants, shopping and other conveniencesEach room is unique So far, I’ve stayed at Sweet Cycles and the Southwest The common courtyard area is something to see I enjoyed spending my mornings there If you are a weary traveler and have the hotel blues, try this place I intend to make this Inn my go-to place whenever I visit San Diego

These two stars are for the location, which is excellent if you want to walk to Balboa Park and to an area with food/shopping The hotel itself gets one starIt is quite clean, but not really nice

That’s fine, but it also smells oddly bad, especially if you turn on the heater/air conditioning unit, which smells *extremely* strongly like someone peed in it (which would have required some serious acrobatics, so I doubt it’s actually the case)While we were there, the plumbing broke and we had no water at all for hours, then no hot water for a day We decided to leave a day early because of this and the owners would not refund that day or provide any other consideration

In two words: awesome staff!Stayed at this hotel for an extended period It’s comfortable, clean, with perfectly maintained heated pool and the staff make all of it more enjoyable They’re friendly, and accommodating

Sure it’s not the 5 star hotel service that some reviewers expect, but it’s not meant to be You’re always greeted with a smile (masked) and with a customer centric attitude… plus I got a birthday card signed by everyone Nice touch, Thank you all!!!

Rooms are spacious and clean Facilities are in excellent shape Love the hot tub, pool, fireplace areas! Good selection of items in the store space

Laundry facilities are plentiful and a good value The staff was wonderful, especially the hardworking breakfast team of Carol and LourdesOnly drawback was lack of housekeeping services, understandable during these shortages of staff but definitely something out traveling family had to work around

Me and my husband stayed here in the mixed dorm, for a night, the location of the hostel is pretty good Not far from the airport, and surrounded by a lot of good restaurants The front desk is open 24 hours

The room and the beds are clean My dorm room was right on the busy street, and adjacent to the lobby So was little noisy There was no attached bathroom You have to walk down the Holloway The restroom is clean enough and maintained There is vending machine inside The environment inside is also friendly and nice However, this is not the best hostel I have stayed so far

Isabel Baransky

No frills hostel Has some cool decorations and really nice staff It’s in a phenomenal location

You walk outside and you’re immediately hit with nightlife That also means it’s loud all night unfortunately Not necessarily from the hostel but from the surrounding area Breakfast is good, things are clean enough The lockers only work with large locks, not the smaller TSA luggage locks This was pretty frustrating to discover and I wish I had known earlier, as my two locks are useless Overall, would stay again if I came to San Diego

Everything was great about this hostel The staff is super friendly The location and price are great

In regards to the things someone may be wondering:There is a fridge for food storage and a supermarket down the streetThere is locked storage in your roomI heard no exterior noiseThe location is super convenientThere is microwave/toaster/toaster oven You could hypothetically make a pizzaThey have a shuttle that can take you to cool places occasionally (they have schedule with them)I’m very pleased with my experience and a bit bummed I wasn’t there longer as the staff have great personalities

My family and I had a great stay here From the minute we pulled up the valet came out and helped us unload our luggage Check in was easy and we stayed in an absolutely gorgeous suite on the sixth floor

The hotel is in a historic building and it was nice to see the history of the building as you walk around The only thing I did not really like is how they try to rope you into a timeshare presentation Granted if you attended the presentation, which we did, they waived the valet fees and gave you a seven day stay in any of their hotels Aside from that everything was fantastic I would definitely stay here again

I stayed here 4 times now I remembered my first Visit here during the height of the Pandemic Despite how hard it was do anything Socially at the time of my first visit, at least it was great to interacted with the staff and some of the guests

A year later I came back things were more normal in San Diego Social wiseRooms are alright, the Beds too but the whole Hostel experience is positive Friendly staff and from my experience with Guests pretty friendly what I seen Plus, it affordable if your on Budget The Plus side of this Hostel its near all the good things to do In Downtown San Diego

Phenomenal experience! Everyone from the staff to the guests has a warm, friendly, inviting energy Add that to the excellent location and abundance of art, and you’ve got quite the vibe This will definitely be the go-to spot for future travels

Objectively, the kitchen is set-up nicely so you don’t feel cramped even when it’s full The rooms are neat and clean, and the bathroom/shower facilities are accessible and ample The location is great for public transit on the rails or buses Perfect for going out only a few blocks from downtown Gaslamp, but able to come back to a more peaceful night sleep Just an easy, comfortable stay overall Best in San Diego
