The Santiago Room was one of the most unusual and extraordinary hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in, with 19th century oil paintings on the walls, unique southwestern curios abounding, a beautifully tiled bath, Persian carpeting, rustic and velvet-upholstered furnishings, and a delightfully comfortable king-sized bed The courtyard is both modest and otherworldly And the proprietor Paco is a kindly, courteous, amiable, knowledgeable, and very warm person

I highly recommend the La Dona Luz!

Brenda Schmalz

Such a beautiful place to spend your time in Taos It has wonderful family history and there is southwest art and artifacts throughout every inch of this property For the truly southwest experience, I don’t think you can beat this place for the money

It is also very central to all the downtown within walking distance of all the shopping and restaurants

The location is perfect as it is right across the street from the Historic Plaza It’s also in walking distance to the Smith’s grocery store down the street and many restaurants and brew pubs Paco was a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit We will be back soon!

There are a few downsides The first one no internet in the rooms, the grounds are very uneven and can potentially be a tripping hazard also it is not handicapped friendly That being said this is a very Charming piece of New Mexico history

Most of the staff was extremely friendly Beds were very comfortable I do have to say the next morning the maid was a little rude as we had three rooms rented and decided to go to breakfast and then come back and finish up She had already cleaned them at 8:30 in the morning and was mad we were trying to re-enter The breakfast was very good and dining room staff was great and so was the lady who checked us in

Zigurd Mednieks

Stayed one night during a week when most places were booked up with spring break people They do not have internet in their guest rooms but it is provided downstairs on the main level

We stayed in the “solarium” room on the top floor It was spectacular, unique, and delightful There is a bathroom on the 2nd level that has windows painted by DH Lawrence Notable writers and artists have stayed in these rooms You can feel the history

REDMAN 367

Well my wife and were there about 10 years ago and booked the solarium room When we got to our room is was interested with bugs

they tried to put us in another room that looked to be a converted broom closet They didn’t hesitate to refund our money We were so disappointedso much history there So we went yesterday to check it out again The grounds look like it has not been cared for and was told by someone staying there that things have not changedthis could be such a perfect getaway but not to way it looks now Just sad!!!

The Inn at La Loma Plaza was a true oasis! Peggy, owner & hostess supreme, accommodated our last minute reservation with grace and warmth After a week of camping, it was a rainy night and we were happy to be in the well-appointed inn with all its homey amenities The room was well-equipped and comfortable and quiet

Breakfast was delicious (eggs florentine, sausage, toast, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and banana bread!) We we walked to dinner at Fleming’s at Peggy’s recommendation and had an amazing dinner Only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful tranquil grounds Highly recommend! We loved our visit to Old Taos Guesthouse The room was roomy and the bed comfortable The innkeepers were friendly and made us feel very welcome

The breakfast was served in the main lodge room We enjoyed the fruit cup and quiche, as well as the muffins and coffeeThe location is out of the downtown historic area so it’s necessary to drive and park when visiting the historic area This is the only negative comment I could possibly makeOur experience here was terrific and we look forward to returning

Molly Chiang

Go here! It’s amazing! My husband and I stayed for two nights in February Our room was beautiful and comfortable and cozy (but also large!) It was so nice we we didn’t want to go out after we got back from skiing, so we found takeout and spent several hours by the fire

The breakfast is delicious, the hosts are so welcoming and kind We will be back!!

Dee Spencer

Hi! This is Dee Spencer I was one of five guests, as our friends were Rawjer, Ted Bradshaw, Melinda, and Steve, my husband ( oh, and Fawkes , the dog )

I want to express how wonderful our stay was here! The hosts were great, and the breakfast chef , Mary ( Marie?) was extraordinary in her cooking skills and presentation for our morning breakfasts She goes above and beyond the usual fare If you have any food sensitivities or allergy, they will take your requests seriously The grounds outside are lovely, with grass, a small creek running by in the front, blooming trees, and dog-friendly for those who need it Backyard views over the plains and mountains, looking west, are superb My husband, Steve, and I have stayed here in the past, years ago , when the owners were Tim and Leslie, and that was a wonderful experience, as well Great folks! After three pandemic years, or not getting back to Taos during that time, it was renewing and refreshing once again, to be here I would recommend this guesthouse , and place to rest and sleep, and eat and dream, to anyone! It maintains it’s charm, history, old Taos feel, comfort, and care all through the years Congratulations, “new” or present owners, and staff!Loyally,Dee Spencer

Tread Head

Had a great stay at Alpine Village Suites! Very convenient and essentially ski in/out Was there for a week to ski and relax, the room was great and the service was on point Very accommodating and comfortable place to camp for a week

Ski lockers were convenient, it was nice to have enough of a kitchen to not need to eat out every night, as long as you have enough food/supplies, and fireplace was REALLY efficient Having a separate bedroom was a good option for those that like to sleep in while the rest of us get up to hit the slopes early! My ONLY nit pick is that the hot tub needed to be cleaned of the sand and small rocks

Brian Coniguliaro

We had a great stay here at Alpine The last time we came to Taos we stayed off the mountain and it was annoyingly inconvenient if you’re there on a ski trip, so this time we decided to stay on the mountain and the location of Alpine was SUPER convenient for skiers Their partnership with the ski shop was a plus too!!! We had first time skiers with us and the rental process with them was very good (Comes with a discount and the staff were very knowledgeable about fitting) Alpine also have an on site locker room for ski’s and gear with boot and glove dryers

The front desk guy and girl were very nice and helpful and they had complimentary sleds so we could take kids sledding along with our dog They are a pet friendly place too, which allowed us to bring our furry family member The spa and sauna were perfect for the end of the day after skiing all day The spa area was in a very cool location outside but in a courtyard type setting with a fireplace The sauna was just inside next to the spa and it was all very enjoyable and relaxing Alpine Village made our family ski trip very enjoyable and convenient and we will definitely stay again and recommend to others looking for an “on the mountain” ski lodging

Theresa Torelli

The Alpine Village Suites is a GREAT place to stay if you are skiing Taos ski valley The location is awesome as our ski rentals were basically in the same building where they also stored the skis at no charge There is a VERY short walk to the slopes

We had our dog and she was greeted so warmly The staff is beyond friendly and so helpful Easy walks to coffee, restaurants, ice cream and a GREAT snow shoeing trail We will definitely stay here again

Taos is a place rich with culture and history Tucked within lies a gem Mabel Dodge, Georgia O’Keeffe and other luminaries of the day stayed here, and it’s palpable

This charming escape has new owners who deeply care Their touch and instincts can already be felt with enhancements to accent Hacienda’s unique character, and with more time it will become one of the most intriguing lodges in the southwest Highly recommend

Wonderful experience staying here for 2 nights during a ski trip to Taos The room was very comfortable and cozy, with southwestern charm The breakfast and coffee were easy and hit the spot

I wish breakfast was served a bit earlier than 8am 7:30 would have been better for those of us needing to leave to get to the mountain in time for opening The hot tub was nice and hot and easy to access I wish I had been staying here longer

Diane Baker

Thanks to the truly dreadful food served at the yoga retreat, I lost 3 pounds in a week! This is a lovely, comfortable, rustic lodge with pleasant facilities The lodge was bought by a Los Angeles real estate developer who also owns a yoga studio He took possession the day before our yoga retreat convened

For some reason, the food served to us was the cheapest quality, with prison-like repetition, (vegan/non-gluten, which can be great, but not here Not even a tortilla, and nary a chili…nor garlic, nor tomato???) The young man who ‘cooked’ was sweet and incompetent…and did I say sweet? Our group bonded over the food horrors which we’ll always have as memories together As mentioned, I was happy to be motivated to eat less My jeans fit! If you stay here, be sure that they’ve upgraded their kitchen efforts or eat elsewhere Enjoy the lovely grounds, the cozy warm rooms, the historic chili pepper-shaped pool… if it’s open, the pretty verandah, the awesome starry sky

duncan price

I worked here for over a month, trust me when I say do not bother giving your money to these people, the keep the rooms at bare minimum standard, and then marketed as rustic or whateverSome pillow cases don’t get washed everyday, you’d be lucky if your comforter was washedEggs in the kitchen aren’t refrigeratedAt times they didn’t inform housekeepers of possible COVID in the rooms

The room was neat, clean, large and welcoming with little amenities you wouldn’t normally think of The staff was friendly and helpful Our room had a lovely view of the plaza

The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is because it appears to have been built in stages with each floor multi-levels Even though there is an elevator from the parking lot, you may still have to negotiate stairs with your luggage when coming and going

Jessica Brown

Really great location, located in Taos Plaza which I did not realize before booking It was really great because we just walked everywhere It’s really beautiful around the hotel

Was decently surprised by how well kept the hotel was due to its age I wish the furniture was more true to the culture and style here though Also, I would note that the front desk lady locked the door that leads to the parking lot around 8:30 pm which seemed kind of odd to me nonetheless dangerous I would think

brian smith

This hotel is quintessential Taos, right on the plaza, can walk to everything you need Great staff, flexible and accommodating Hotel is old but clean and well kept, just what you want in Taos IMO

Rooms have all the conveniences you would expect in a modern hotel, but with a Taos vibe, exactly why you should stay here Great coffee shop in lobby No bar in hotel but several nearby This was a ski trip and skiing was awesome

My wife and I stayed at Adobe and Pines the first week of August 2022, with our dog We all really enjoyed out stay Christine and her staff are very friendly and welcoming of us and our dog

The property is beautiful The room was great The courtyard available to our room was a great place to allow our dog out We had access to a private hot tub that was well welcomed after our regular hikes and other outdoor activities (Please be aware that access to a hot tub and/or courtyard is dependent upon the room you choose)Christine creates a different breakfast menu every morning that is tasty and unique Many of the items presented are not something I would not necessarily order on my own, I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to expand their palette, as I did Everything was very tasty, even if it may not have been my personal choice walking in But, it is important that to note that if you have special dietary considerations or concerns, all you need to do is let the staff know ahead of time, and they will try to adjustments as they can I think it is also important to note that as many of the ingredients as possible are grown on the property Nothing is quite like fresh juiced apples that you see grown outside your roomChristine is very willing to have conversations with her guests and share ideas and recommendations of activities to partake in while in TaosI requested a wine/cheese/fruit tray to be provided in-room upon arrival It was very good and hit the spot after a long drive in I also requested an in-room massage for my wife after our horse trail ride Christine worked with local talent and coordinated everything for us based on our requestsDefinitely recommend

This review cannot even do justice to how you will feel when stay here The oasis that you walk into is beyond amazing! The breakfast is fresh, healthy and made from love! The staff is beyond kind and attentive We came up for a wedding and the owner invited the bride to come to the zen garden and labyrinth and it was a magical experience! We plan to come back to Taos and stay at the Inn next time What a wonderful place We are very thankful for Christine and cannot thank you enough for your help See you again soon!

Coming from the Albuquerque area, I called to make sure I can check in early 11 – 11:30am The front desk said, “we will have a room available for you” I got there at 11:30am

I was told rooms were not available My children and I ate lunch outside on the premises I had an appointment at noon that I pushed out an hour 12:30 I asked the front desk lady if we can check in She replied,” I have not gotten a report from my cleaning staff” 15 minutes later I asked if she has an update, I needed to figure out what to tell my appointment She gave the same answer I had to take my children to my appointment Once it was over, we hung out in the lobby until 3pm I was not able to see any customers My day was over The reason I stayed is to maximize my time to see customers To top it off, there was a couple who arrived around 2:30pm that received a room before us I will no longer stay at that hotel after that experience

Stayed for 2 nights during spring break We are satisfied with the hotel and staff The hotel is a bit outdated, but the rooms are renovated and the common areas are comfortable and welcoming

The beds are comfortable, nice pillows and comfy blankets The bathroom tub is losing the paint and makes it look ugly, but it was clean WiFi worked great and the and breakfast had multiple options The light roast coffee was actually way better than expectedWe had a great experience with the staff at the hotel, but a terrible experience with one of them prior to the stay I made reservations through my company perks website, which used Bookingscom For some reason the reservation got split into 2 reservations, one for each room The staff at the hotel could not find one of the reservations I had to go back and forth between Bookinscom and Hilton until finally they solved the problem (It took days) Everything was sooth except the 2 times I had to talk to the person at the hotel, which was extremely and unnecessarily rude She basically was not trying to help me resolve the problem but kept repeating what I already knew and treating me codependently I did not caught her name but saw her during my stay and recognized her voice She looked pretty unhappy, and was smoking a lot outside I guess she might be going through a difficult timeI would certainly recommend and most likely would stay here if I come back to Taos

I loved everything about this place The only thing that was not great were the hours of the fitness room did not work out with my work schedule Even had a DVD player in the room and a huge selection of DVDs downstairs available to checkout

They even give you microwave popcorn when you check out a DVD Central location close to downtown Laundry machines are free Bed was so comfortable Just a wonder experience and if I ever return I will definitely book there again

This is a beautiful facility and beds are so comfy! If you are used to staying at WorldMark you might miss the usual full kitchen and in suite laundry but the amazing location (walk to all the shopping, dining and museums) and it’s gorgeous New Mexico handcrafted woodwork more than make up for it (The small kitchenettes and shared large and clean laundry are adequate for most purposes) Front desk staff was genuinely friendly and helpful

The front desk and other staff were excellent and super friendly People here were 5-star The problem was the beds and bedding were so uncomfortable we cut our stay 3 days short

Beds were Murphy and pullout and had the back bar/ bump issues you’d expect Very uncomfortable The blankets were scratchy, think being covered in coarse beard hair or a green dishwashing scrubber We tried to switch rooms and bedding, but those were not options during the stay The pool was closed and a strong skunk smell came from the park next door, so the balcony was not pleasant We gave up on our vacation after three nights of no sleep and needing a trip to the chiropractor We were truly miserable Try the resort if you can get a king size bed and bring your own blanket Otherwise, skip it

It radiates through your whole stay as Richard, the amazing owner makes sure you are comfortable and occasionally brings you baked treats or eggs!!The amount of love put into this place emanates and blesses you with an experience you will never forget I adore this absolute gem and the owner Thank you again for a memorable stay, we look forward to our next stay 💗

We have turned several friends onto this place, and without exception they have returned on their own It is a remarkable place, with a responsive and compassionate owner, whose eye for detail and design is remarkable From the charcuterie plate and chilled wine waiting for your arrival, to the fresh eggs delivered daily if needed, to the amazing organic garden, this place envelops you in all the peace and serenity and respite you can hope for

This is the anti-microwave scene No drip coffee Boil water French press it Sip it on a bench and feed the chickens If that sounds like your vibe, this is the place It is the only lodging that we try to return to every year

I am so grateful to Chris who helped us book a last minute room when our accommodations fell through My brother and I set up a ski trip to remember our father shortly after his passing We had a mix up in our lodging and Chris, understanding the reason for our trip, helped us find a room for that night

During our stay the Blake exceeded every expectation during our stay! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere provided an extremely elevated experience and the entire staff genuinely cared about making our stay memorable I am so excited to come back next season, The Blake provided the best ski vacation and stay experience I’ve ever encountered

Anthony Rinella

We have visited a number a ski resorts and stayed in alot of nice ski based hotels The Blake is near the top of all the places we’ve been as far as ski on ski off properties go, the hotel is beautiful and the amenities are amazing! You can’t beat the location, the village and lift are right outside the door We stayed in a Deluxe Suite and the room was absolutely beautiful

The service has been outstanding as well I couldn’t recommend this resort highly enough, it’s truly one of the nicest ski / hike based properties in the country

Elle

Conveniently located on the slopes Comfortable large rooms We loved it prior to COVID-19, but things have declined since

At $600+ per night, we expect a certain standard of care No breakfast, not even snacks such as bananas or apples available No water bottles provided, even when asked No lunch restaurant We have had to carry our own skis and luggage to the storage and ski valet areas due to a lack of staffNormally we love the rooms, but have had a bad room in the past The hotel did nothing to rectify the problems and actually argued with us disputing them when there was no doubt the room had issues (which was poor water pressure, had been smoked in, broken make up mirror) I give them credit overall in that we have only had one bad room in dozens of staysUntil they get back to the standard they first delivered, it definitely isn’t worth the price they are asking

The best of European Hospitality Jean and Dadou Mayer established HSB to be in the nature of an Alpine ski lodge, and it is wonderful You are not visitors or guests, you become family

My first visit was when I was 19 years old, and the brothers ran from the kitchen to ski school line up with Ernie Blake (founder of Taos) because they not only ran the hotel, cooked meals, but they were superb ski instructors, too Jean is the good looking one but Dadou was the wild man on skis (just teasing them) I returned with my daughter and realized it was on the 50th anniversary of my original visit Can you believe they did not remember me! Well, I was not so impressive at 19 We enjoyed hot toddies after skiing in a blizzard one day and then stayed for dinner the next Breast of Canard a’la Orange Very French Meals are served family style at long tables, everyone sharing The Hotel is located at the base of the ski runs, and you literally ski in for lunch and out to the lift for afternoon runs The ski resort has very modern equipment and changed a lot from the 1960’s but it still offers some of the best powder skiing in the world, with runs for all levels of skier, not just the hard core outbacker I see they closed last year due to pandemic, but they should be re-opening this year I hope so and I wish the very best for Jean and Dadou, so that many more people can enjoy their hospitality and become a part of the St Bernard family A stay there will infect you with their love of the mountains and the activities to do on it year round, plus they feed you really well!!!!

The most amazing family ski vacation! We just returned from a ski week at the Hotel St Bernard It was a magical week for us I highly recommend Taos, the St Bernard, and the Ski Week program

My husband, daughter and I are beginner skiers and by the end of the trip my husband was skiing the blue runs and my daughter and I were gaining confidence on the greens As part of our ski week package, our lodging, lift tickets and daily lessons were included along with 3 meals a day These aren’t ordinary meals either Each night, a 3-4 course meal is served family style with incredible presentation During dinner, children participate in a separate program with activities like sledding, treasure hunts and marshmallow roastsWe stayed in an A Frame house for the week and it was comfortable and clean We were just a few steps away from the ski runs The real draw to this hotel is the staff We were immediately welcomed like family You can really feel how invested the staff is in this hotel, its reputation and the overall guest experience It was truly like nothing else we have ever experiencedThe St Bernard is truly special We are honored to have been able to experience this really wonderful, magical place
