Very beautiful designed hotel with a prefect view of the oceanThe valet and check-in staff were very friendlyIt is very expensive and they definitely need to work on somethings to make the experience worth the money

A couple of the staff who work at the pool and bar were extremely rude and unwelcoming, just this will make me not want to go backI booked a daybed at the pool and thank goodness because the pool was over packed and it seemed like non hotel guest came and meet their friends Kids everywhere which definitely took away from the relaxing part and made it hard to get into their very tiny poolThe daybed was $200 and it came with warm water nothing to keep it cold The beds where suppose to have a sever but we got the least attention, the people just hanging out at the pool where served more So I don’t think I got me money’s worth other than having a spot to sit Lunch isn’t served till 12 and by that time everyone at the pool was ordering food moving the time to 11 would help the staff not be so overwhelmedThe restaurant took a really long time to get drinks out and the steak had a lot of fat on it but the pork belly was really goodI was there celebrating my birthday and the staff asked a couple time but didn’t do anything for it or at the restaurant which was a little weirdIt was a great one time experience but I don’t think we will go back

Adam C

Fantastic hotel Excellent staff, well-appointed rooms, large balconies, nice pool area Very much enjoyed our visit

Best views are the rooms facing the west (ocean) from the second or higher floor South rooms will face condos and north facing rooms will view the ocean, the nearly beach, and segments of the 101 Valet only Some restaurants are within walkable distance, but not much You will need water shoes for the beach (rocks)

T S

Beautiful location and modern design, we enjoyed our stay here A+ attentive staff that was friendly, expedient and on-brandThe bar at sunset is not to be missed & features a well trained team with a craft forward skill set

Of note: as others have said, if you are not a fan of the restaurant, you’ll be challenged with room service (it’s an extension of the chef’s influence)

Lovely resort We really enjoyed the pool The family area spa is a little cooler than I would like as an adult, but it was lovely for the kids to be able to enjoy it (and there is an adult pool/spa available area as well)

The room/suite in Villa D was perfect for our family of 4, with a very spacious kitchen and living area and a wonderfully comfortable King sized bed in a separate bedroom Easy walk to Legoland and beautiful view over the flower fields and of the ocean The guest policies were very accommodating, including allowing us to stay and use the pool and resort amenities after checkout, and parking was valid till the end of day as well We’d definitely like to stay here again

Melissa Forsberg

Great place to stay for family The rooms are large and clean It has a regular size kitchen if you want to make your own meals with all the utensils you’ll need

There’s also grills available on the grounds Staff was friendly and welcoming There’s separate pool areas where kids can play and swim Another for adults to relax and it has beautiful surroundings We would definitely go back again

Marco Ortiz

Really great family hotel! This place is great for families, the full kitchen makes everything much easier if you are traveling with kids We were able to store all the essentials for our 3, and 1 year old The room was extremely clean and they even provided a pack n play for our 1 year old

The furniture is a bit outdated but is in really great condition Overall the customer service was great but can improve in some aspects I would definitely stay here again We were able to walk to Legoland, it took us about 8 minutes There is no bell service or Valet, so it’s a bit of a bummer There are 2 hotels in the same building The desk for this one is on the right when you walk in and the Hilton on the left The bar was also very convenient, and Karl Strauss is also on the property We will definitely stay here again

The staff upgraded us to a ocean view, top floor, corner unit which had a great view of the ocean and a large balcony The facilities were very clean, maintenance was responsive and resolve issues quickly The staff kept us informed and asked if we needed anything via text messages which we appreciated

The unit was large and quite The beach was right outside the unit The TV didn’t work but they are working to resolve that and replace their provider In the meantime, they had a large selection of movies that you can check out of the office for free We had a great time and the staff was wonderful The room was very clean and they changed out our towels 2x during the 7 days and did a mini cleaning mid way Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend

Rich Ruppert

Our one bedroom unit was sanitized and clean The furniture is comfortable and is newer Our unit was oceanfront, feet from the beach

The soothing sound of the waves 24/7 The common areas include many Gas Barbecues, shower area before returning to the building, under building secured code required parking, and a to die for view when using the spa The entire staff is dedicated to meeting your needs with a smile

The hotel is nice and super clean There’s no breakfast included with any room but there’s a Starbucks in the hotel which is really convenientParking is free and generally no issues to find a spot

The pool is nice and clean, 5ft max depthWiFi is free for basic and there’s an available option for paid premiumThe rooms are quiet and the mattresses are the most comfortable mattress we had during our tripThe cable options are pretty basic and much more dated than what you’d find at a Springhill Suites for instance

krizhia roxas

We’ve been here for an hour now Once we opened the room, it smells like cigarette I didn’t complain and just opened the sliding doors and let the air circulate

Now, I’ve noticed there’s a used wingstop cup under the table Called front desk Frontdesk said the room has been cleaned and housekeeping probably just didn’t see the cup Aren’t they supposed to clean the WHOLE ROOM especially since we’re living in a pandemic? The front desk didn’t offer a resolution, probably cause I didn’t ask for a room change Or maybe I should really complain before we get better service? Not gonna stay here again after this

Dwight Osteen

They don’t clean the rooms They tell you that if you ask for it to happen every day they will do it I was there 4 nights, requested fresh towels and cleaning every night

They never came Also upon my arrival there was a dirty wash cloth in the middle of the room floor Staff was nice enough even if they didn’t do what they said

Room was very nice, well maintained and clean Every staff member we met smiled and said hello at the least The staff were all very friendly, even the maintenance guy (doppelganger for Willie Nelson) who had to switch out our dishwasher and did so quickly with no evidence he’d even been in the room

Used the free bikes, enjoyed the treats in the pool area and the live music The welcome breakfast was great as were the smores and bingo All the other guests were friendly and happy The adult only (bonus) hot tub was open til 11Staff are rewarded when guests fill in a comment card with their name A great idea! Just takes a minute We did several!A great find where we would definitely stay again if we can get in We were sad to be leaving 😔

This is a beautiful resort located steps from the beach I’ve visited many times because my friend has a timeshare there The rooms are spacious and there is always something going on out on the big lawn

There’s also a playground for the kids tucked away at the south side of the property Gorgeous views, relaxing vibes A must visit

Summer

This hotel is easily within walking distance to the beach We could see the ocean from our balcony! The rooms were clean and the service was incredibly friendly and always ready to assist Although they didn’t have a breakfast at this hotel, they did offer ice water, hot tea, and coffee throughout day

The weekly schedule of events that they gave us upon arrival was a welcome addition to our trip We will definetely be coming back here

Stayed 2 nights and the suite was awesome Great size for 4 kids and 2 adults Wish the restroom was in the living space and not the room

Kept getting woken up every time someone needed it during the night It was great that they also provided actual plates and cups and not disposable ones Heated pool and hot tub are open late so we got it all to ourselves

Erika Jolley

Awesome experience! Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay We got a two bedroom two bathroom room with a split Floorplan and a shared living room The beds have the most deliciously comfortable pillows in the world! There’s an included continental breakfast for 6am to 9am

They have a pool and spa that stays open until 10pm They also have a 24 hour gym Would definitely stay here again Only 3 miles or so away from the beach

Mark Darwin

From the perspective of a business traveller, this hotel is good but not great The noise fromthe pool and adjoining rooms can be a bit much (as this is a very family friendly hotel) Similarly, there isn’t a great spot to work on a laptop, as the table near the kitchen is too high/the chairs are too low to work comfortably

I didn’t find many outlets near the couch either On the upshot, the water pressure is great and the staff is nice Room cleanings happen upon request, but don’t always refill consumables A couple restaurants are within walking distance, which was nice

Beautiful location with views of the golf course from most every room The service is top notch: very friendly and willing to helpThe little shop is insane with the markups on basic essentials, but I guess if you don’t want to leave the property, you pay the exorbitant convenience price

But come on, $6 bucks for one can of domestic beer is insane

Donald Taylor

Spent 20k on a three day company outing Room was awful Stains all over the furniture

No iron in the room Beds are rock hard Staff was not helpful I was told I would get a text when my room was ready Three hours later no text so I checked at the front desk and they said it was ready they just didn’t text me What a waste of time and money I’m glad it was my company’s money We will not be spending our money here next year when we come back to San Diego I really wish I could give this place less than 1 starRequested an iron so I could iron my dinner clothes because apparently this hotel only gives an ironing board with no iron, and it took them over an hour to get me one I had to skip dinner with everyone because of this This hotel is absolutely garbage There has to be better places than this dump in the area

Crystal Lintan

After a day of relaxing at the spa with my sisters, it was finally time to check in to our hotel room We decided last minute that it was would be fun if we were able to stay an extra night and maybe even bring the kids to the pool the next day We checked in with Dede at the front desk to see if they had any availability and if we could even upgrade our room

DEDE was the absolute highlight of the weekend! She made it happen and we were able to upgrade our room to a Villa I highly recommend staying in a Villa if you have kids Lots of space for everyone to enjoy their time The service was incredible everywhere we went Thank you to Bobby at Bar Traza for accommodating us! However, the real MVP award goes to DEDE!!!

I have stayed four times in the last year The hotel in nice, I like the location and amenities I’ve never had an issue

This trip I had someone staying above me, I’ve had this on all my other trips as well, but the special guest above me on this trip was loud I normally don’t wake up for anything but this guest was loud Night one they woke me up at 2:30, by 3 I had to complain They quieted until 5:45… The next night they were quiet after midnight, but everyday by 6 they were making exceptionally loud noise I complained three more times on this trip and requested a different room twice, but am told there are no more rooms My company rents the rooms in this hotel and had a block of 15, and then we didn’t use them, so really I am pretty sure there are rooms On top of that, a majority of hotels try to keep, until a certain hour each day, a few back up rooms, maybe this hotel doesn’t do that but I remain skeptical The staff is always pleasant and I have no complaints around them I just wish there was some sort of enforcement of their noise policies because i was exhausted all week with someone thundering around above me at odd hoursI can tell you now though, I will no longer be recommending this hotel and I will be requesting a change from my company as well

Cascer Ender

The hotel was great, except for the bed and pillows 5 minutes laying your head on a pillow before it felt like there was nothing there The bed was extra firm and provided me with morning back pain

The staff were helpful and nice The room looked cleaned, as well as the bathroom area The location was great with 5 4-star restaurants nearby

Marissa Griffin

I’ve stayed at Marriott hotels exclusively for years and this is by far the worst location I’ve ever been at Shower head looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned in months and is covered in soap scum We were transferred here after another Marriott in the area had a pipe rupture and had no running water

Attempted to speak with the manager to see if he had an update on the other location as I was told I was only able to stay one night because of their occupancy and he was absolutely disgustingly rude I don’t know what it is about the Marriotts in this particular town but their service is not up to par with the Marriott brand, their employees are incompetent and rude, and the cleanliness is subpar Save your money and stay at a Motel 6 you’ll have the same experience at a quarter of the price

This hotel doesn’t even deserve 1 star I often stay with Marriott for business, but my experience here, at this location has finalized my decision to never use Marriott again I booked a room for 4 nights for my son and I

I was told while booking the room that my card on my profile would be charged and my son could check in since he was arriving a day early Once he arrived, the people at the front desk told him he would have to swipe his card No problem! Except they already charged my card for the whole week!! (thought they said I had to swipe it?) Room # and mobile key even showed up on the app My son swiped his card for one night while we were going to figure out the restTuesday morning my card is charge 3 times!! Then they charged my sons card as well (for the whole week)!! I called confused and irritated I was placed on hold twice for 27 minutes and then 31 minutes When I called back I was met with arguing, and total attitude by the young man answering the phone He hung up on me 3 times!! I called again and got “Hannah” the assistant manager on the line who was worse than the first guy She was abrasive, accused me of lying, and when I told her that her attitude would be the demise of my relationship with Marriott, she said “do what you need to do” she did not careProblem after problem When my son checked out, “Kyle” told him “you know the problems were your fault” WHAT!!!I was on the phone for hours with corporate as they straightened things out Recognizing that I am a valued customer who has never had an issue at a Marriott locationIf you don’t want to be treated like your in a motel, and you don’t want mistakes made on your credit card, don’t go here Marriott must be having a hard time finding staff to have this team!! Unbelievable

Kevin

This freshly remodeled room is stuck in the past We experienced our room keys failing after one day, coffee pot missing parts to make coffee, Netflix being limited to non 4k user accounts, and being locked out of the overall hotel So overall it’s a close spot to Legoland but it’s outdated even as a recently remodeled location

Also the HVAC system is located in the bedroom of your one bedroom suite so anticipate a loud night Housekeeping comes every 10 days Calling for room service is like talking to a wall We called for more towels and shampoo and got a bunch of everything but what we asked for Must be a game for the staff

Jenn M

Room was nice and clean and somewhat new, but everything else was frustrating Breakfast bar layout is a series of tiny corners and bottlenecks where all the guests and multitude of staff got crammed in Constantly running out of stuff

Fruit was sketchy Room basically flooded (guess they never heard of Legionella, apparently happens often which explains the faint musty smell) and very noisy due to thin walls, construction, and extremely loud HVAC Wi-Fi weak or didn’t work Security non-existent bc of the construction Lighting in the rooms was poor Style without substance

We just had yet another awesome stay at this wonderful property With 5 of us travelling (my wife and 3 children) we need a lot of room so we booked a two bedroom suite and it was perfect, with more than enough room and all the amenities you could want The staff was super friendly and professional and we really felt at home

A special shout out to the lady that runs the activity center and leads the morning hikes She was the greatest! My family really enjoyed some of the art activities that she offered and I was really impressed by her knowledge of the local flora and fauna as she pointed out various interesting bits of information as she led the morning nature hikes The food was great both at the Cove bar and when the wife and I wanted something a little more upscale the Restaurant at the Westin (which was only a two minute walk from our room) was fantastic I’d just like to thank the staff for making our stay so special and in particular Ms Megan Connor the GM who makes it all happen

James Deguzman

The rooms are nice and spacious The staff is what makes this place great The front desk personnel were nice and courteous and very accommodating

Our room was super clean by housekeeping upon arrival I also noticed the cleaning staff clean the bbq grills on a regular basis Events staff and employees around the pool area were all super friendly and helpful All the staff make this place an amazing place to stay

BB rEflecTion

Beautiful area, direct access to Lego land Easy trail to walk on Good pool side services

One of TV in our bedroom is broken on sound, but everything else in the room is fine There’s some construction going on but not bad on noise level ( To be fair, the screaming kids at the pool is the responsibility of the parents) This is one of good HGVC properties that actually care about the owners, compared to some others I had been Keep it up and we’ll be back!

Candus Suppelsa

We loved our stay at this hotel! The location is perfect for walking to coffee, restaurants and the beach The vibe in the room is beautiful- a retro feel – minimalist yet has everything you need – super clean and cozy Love the sitting area directly outside the room

The owner was great and made sure we had everything we needed Would love to come back!

If you are looking for a get away that reflective of the southern California Surf community, the Green Room in Ocean Side is the perfect place It is a renovated hotel on Carlsbad Blvd (aka the South Coastal Highway) located with lots of other cool businesses There’s a great natural food grocery store across the street, and many restaurants and cafes within 2 blocks

The hotel rooms are very cool – modern and very functional – with new appliances and furniture Very comfy Breakfast if a continental/American version: really dominant coffee and donuts from a neighboring cafe is out early by the fire pit and hot tub, where you can hang out chatting with other guests There are cruiser bikes and surf boards on hand to borrow The shore is a few block walk, with multiple access points for surfers to get into the water The beach and Ocean Side Pier is a bit further off – an easy bike ride The town streets avail lots of interesting people watching as you explore The area where the Green Room is is quite different from the area around the Pier, and has a much more down to earth and casual feel, very relaxing Definitely worth a weekend visit!

Location is great and the amenities are nice, the room layout is really well designed The pool is a great place to hang out, and being right across the street from the beach you can easily go back and forth Underground parking on site was convenient

I think the coolest part was the patio on the seventh floor that is a great place to watch the sunset

Stefanie Ziller

We are having a wonderful family vacation here, staying 5 nights! The room is fantastic, 2 bed, 2 bath with ocean view! At an affordable price Minus 1 star because checkin is at 3pm, but we had to wait in the lobby for 15 hrs with 2 anxious kiddos, bc I guess our room wasn’t ready

Met some other guests who were also delayed But once we got in, it’s been great! They don’t tidy rooms, or replenish stuff, but I will ask for a couple shampoos tomorrow and see how it goes! Also, The pool is nice! Overall, can’t beat this room and location

Very very nice rooms, basically a small apartment They have a trash service sorta, you go into this room and put your trash then the trash guy takes it The nicer rooms have kitchens and 2 bed and 2 bath

Service is great and they have 2 level parking underground only issue is that there are 2 halves of building and somtimes you have to remember which wing your room is in They have a VERY nice pool and hot tub and a gathering room (ping pong and Tv) They have conference centers and it’s pretty nice

Oh Lord! Where do I begin? This place is absolutely filthy As soon as we came off the elevator there was the stench of vomit throughout the floor It stunk inside our room as well because the stench seeped in

Nothing was cleaned properly – hair, dirt and dust on the furniture, counters, sink and in the bathtub, in the cupboards, etcAt breakfast they had the most horrifying food I’ve ever ingested This place was an absolute nightmare They need to completely close for a few months and deep clean, as well as do a complete overhaul of management I cannot believe this place is run by Marriott Horrifying!

The bathrooms were nice and the hospitality was very pleasant Our room had a huge balcony, the view was the free way but it was still okay other than the massive amount of spider webs everywhere The room had a weird smell but that is common when you near areas with water

We stayed here because they said they had cribs for babies which ended up just being a playpen The complimentary breakfast was the best part, fresh omelets, waffle, bacon, and of course a the standard items Sound travels through the walls and room very easily but overall id stay here again

We must have hit a bad night

our stay was not great We got a suite to accommodate our family Upon arrival at around 7pm, we got into our room to find zero toilet paper [yep, 2 empty toilet paper holders with no extra rolls], an empty kleenex box, and a very musty smell There was no TV remote, no blanket for the fold out bed, and only 2 towelsfor a suite The front desk man was apologetic and got the things that were missing But if they knew we were coming, shouldn’t that all have been checked beforehand? Also, the bathroom was very dirty, and it was gross We have 3 girls, so I understand it’s hard to clean up hair But there was so much hair on the floor and in the tub, and it was nasty I will post pics to show We paid over $200 for this room, and we’ve stayed in much nicer for much less The next night we stayed in a different hotel for cheaper and it was so much better and cleaner The 2 good things were the nice front desk clerk and the sheets were soft

Cynthia Picciano

For the money, this was an excellent hotel The staff was ultra friendly, helpful and responsive A special shout out for the wonderful lady who furnished the hot breakfast in the mornings

She was so attentive, warm and friendly! Most we’ve ever experienced! The rooms were spacious and clean We had a total of 5 rooms across our large party Some of the rooms were better (more updated) than others, but everyone said they would rate this hotel at least a 4 Gave them a 5 because of the excellent staff With a little more updating to such things as carpets and blinds, this hotel would definitely be first class

I got married nearby and every time we had to stay somewhere to plan we stayed here! It is such a clean resort with friendly staff The breakfast was the only upsetting part, there was almost nothing to eat or drink The rooms were perfect and accommodated both bridal parties in their own suites

They were very understanding about keeping the parties separated, which we appreciated

Bill Delmer

The staff was excellent but the rooms were just ok, the cooking gear was old and scratched, I was not comfortable using it The breakfast however was simply awful I stay in these types of properties a lot and I checked in assuming I would get a decent breakfast but it was totally not up to the standards that this brand usually provides

Most mornings it’s just breakfast sandwiches, there were mornings where it was even less than that Once in a great while there would be little omelets, but maybe once per week Staff 5 stars, facilities 3 stars, breakfast 1 star and that’s generous I would not stay there again

Monina Buchongo

Short stay and WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! I found a $400 charge by residence inn on my account I called to inquire about the charge and was accused of stealing pots, pans, and dishes I never got a call of investigation however, I was told by the person who answered the phone that the manager left a voicemail for me

Upon checking my voicemail, there was no message from anyone at the residence inn in San Marcos This is unacceptable and unprofessional This facility has no checks and balances for room inventory and when asked about it there was no solution Their products aren’t even mediocre, they’re cheap and of poor quality No thank you! DO NOT STAY HERE!

It was AMAZING! This place was perfect, with a beautiful ocean view from our room the room has everything you would need to just relax in the room This hotel will definitely be my “go to hotel” whenever I come to Oceanside/ San Diego area

Maybe a suggestion, a hammock would be awesome in the huge balcony It definitely was a home away from home , especially with a fully stocked kitchen, all we needed to buy was food I also loved the selection of reading books

Sana omari

Room wasn’t clean Sound like and look like someone was in room bed is It doneDishes to use was dirtyIt was not a pleasant experience at this timeKeep in mind I am rating today after a year +Possible things get better

I would have gave a five but there was hiccup’s First I found someone else’s hair around the toilet area, now it could have been housekeeping’s but it still put me off, and they almost double charged me, thank god the card was locked Other then that the Condo was clean, spacious, and with in walking distance to everything

It’s in a really lively location family oriented so this is not the place you want to come to if your looking for peace and quiet Because of that reason I have rebooked with the family, the pool area looked fun and will definitely be taking advantage of the barbecue Stay tune!!

Try resort activities Wonderful way to meet new kids, make friends, and learn new skills Enjoy your vacation in sunny Southern California

Hand dryers would be wonderful to save environment and minimize wastes to the landfills Alternatives to the disposable shampoo, body wash, and lotions would certainly align with the global intuitive to save Earth by minimizing the plastic products we use every day

Wonderful resort! You cannot go wrong picking this hotel It had activities for kids and adults Rooms were very clean, great beach access (only have to walk across one road that has a cross walk), staff is friendly, and the grounds are beautiful

It also has a nice gym, so you don’t have to worry about skipping your workouts The covered/garaged parking was also very nice It’s only about an easy 10 minutes from the more “downtown” area I highly recommend this resort!

I especially want to thank Trevor for his great social skill and making this place feel like home for the few days we stayed there He seem like someone that should be in management We are definitely planning to visit this location again

Can’t say enough about the great experience we had here the last couple of years Modernity at its finest at the heart of Carlsbad Walking distance to awesome restaurants and footsteps to the sand

Highly recommend it In the summer time the water is amazing to swim in and we recently experienced dolphins swimming closely to the shore

My wife and I have been staying at Ocean Villas every month of April for the past 12 years We were surprised there were new owners when we arrived last month They have remodeled( still finishing it)

They have done a spectacular job!!! The new owners are great people and Lily, the Manager, is a sweetheart They are all so accommodating and could not be any nicer It was a bit noisy while the remodel was being worked on, but we didn’t care They were most apologetic We were just appreciative to be there The only problem we had was we had to leave to come back home We are counting the days to our return!! We would not stay any other place in Carlsbad!!

francis meram

Little bit of paradise tucked away in Carlsbad! Beautifully appointed newly renovated rooms Large patios overlooking the Pacific Ocean in almost every room If you get the ability to stay in the sand unit it’s a must! Located directly on the beach and perfect for multiple families! Management provides you with chairs and beach toys to further enjoy your stay! Prices are extremely reasonable compared to other properties! We will definitely be back to Ocean Villas soon!
